Even as a human, Corona always was rather small and fragile-looking, despite her playful exterior. The girl had a lazy sort of disposition and it was clear she mostly enjoyed doing things at her own whim, without contacting or bothering anyone else, even if it involved them or got her in trouble. That soft brown black that crested her face was nothing really out of the ordinary, and that suited Corona just fine. Unlike some small girls who seem angelic and doll-like, Corona is anything but. She seems more like a tricky little minx, always getting into mischief. If you looked carefully enough maybe you could find something under her spontaneity, but that's under the surface.

Even as a mermaid, Corona retained many of her defining features. That tricksy, almost devilish grin, that somewhat sadistic gleam in her eyes, the way she can laze around on a beach better than anyone can. Of course, there had been some changes, most notably the long greenish tail that extends from her pelvic area whenever she's in the water. Corona had lost some of what made her human, but at least on the outside, she's still the same girl.

Corona Liyua has many different faces, many different facets, and you'd be hardpressed to really try and figure out which side of her was the real one. You could consider her a silly clown that never thinks about anything real or serious at all. You could think of her as a girl that's cruel and manipulative that you could never trust for as long as you could live. One girl might see her as a girl trying hard to be a good friend, but is held back by her own feelings and her own guilt mixed together as one. You could see her as someone trying hard to pretend she doesn't care about anything, but is burdened by the weight of everything and can't handle it. Or perhaps she truly doesn't care and enjoys tearing lives out of the enemies she finds around her. You wouldn't be right, exactly, but you wouldn't be wrong, either, if you settled one one of these options.

When looking at her, you'll see a girl who lived a life full of hoping for dreams, and seeing those dreams crushed over and over again. As time goes on, a person loses the ability to keep hoping when the world keeps turning against you, and that's what happened here. Corona is greatly dispassionate about most things, feeling as if whatever she does won't matter anyways. You could label her as a Fatalist in terms of philosophy, believing, in part, about destiny as a way to justify what happened to her. She avoids responsibility, but feels heavy guilt about many things, most of all dragging Reyna into this fate with her. There's a lot of bottled rage inside that she lets out with passive aggressive speech or violent actions. Under the mirrored surface, Corona is very much a broken girl with many different fractured shards of self trying and failing to really create a whole image of herself.

{☛ ⒽⒾⓈⓉⓄⓇⓎ ☚}
Corona was born in Britain, in 1925, while the country was still recovering from the first world war. Many people were unemployed or laid off, and as a whole, things were looking bad for the less priveleged people. Among these people were the Liyua family, headed by Henry, a soldier from the first war, a veteran, who like many, couldn't quite reintegrate into society as well as he should. He was a gambler and a drunk but always did love his family dearly, always promising that their destitute lives would improve, that they would strike it rich and because happy for the rest of forever. Even as an infant, Corona believed everything Daddy said, because Daddy knew best. Mommy would teach her embroidery and other such womanly tasks and Corona was happy to learn, bright eyed and naive while big brother Cormag got to go off to school.

But many, many times things seemed like they were getting better, Henry would end up gambling the family funds away, driving them back into poverty. Many times they didn't even have enough money to afford food to eat. That was when Alice, mother, started being absent more often, and the rare times she was home she was always too tired to really be much of a mother. This concerned everyone but Alice promised that things were going to be better. During these times money flowed more into the house - money that ended up being used in Henry's gambling fun, only driving the family into further desperation. Eventually it was discovered that Alice was selling herself as a prostitute due to Cormag and Corona spying, and they made her stop and come back home.

That was a mistake. Eventually the brothel came for them, breaking into the house while Henry was out and Cormag was at school, and it seemed like all was at an end. That was when Corona discovered it - her desire for murder - and she picked up a gun at the tender young age of eleven, slaughtering them after they dropped their guard after having had their fun. In the end, though, she couldn't save her mother, and that was the first broken dream. When Henry and Cormag returned home to see the police investigating for the abducted Alice, little Corona was there, shivering and confused, staring blankly in front of her. With that, Henry became broken, but he tried to shape up, he stopped gambling, stopped drinking, and eventually went back to military service when it became obvious war was coming.

Corona hoped so much for life to have improved, but then Henry was killed in battle, only a hat returning home. Cormag figured the house was bad luck, that it was cursed, so with Corona's help he burned the house down and the two escaped. Big brother promised to become someone who could support her, to find a caretaker for her, to find a husband for her, to get a job. So he met a captain and Cormag decided to become a sailor on a fishing boat. Leaving Corona at a family friend's house, he went off for his first outing. But Corona didn't want to stay all alone and lose the last of her family so she went out and followed, running into a strange one named Reyna. Deciding that adventures were funner as two, Corona dragged Reyna with her onto the boat...

As she was thrown into the water as her brother screamed for the sailors to untie her, to save her, Corona wondered, bitterly, if she should ever hope for anything good again.

1940, Bristol, Britain

War was coming to Britain. The rise of Adolf Hitler spelled only bad things, and what remained of the shattered Liyua family, broken by the wrath of debt collectors and men and other horrible things. Father failed to take care of them, mother failed to take care of them, and now her big brother, Cormag, was making promises left and right. "I'll find a job, I'll take care of you, Coro, it'll be okay. No one will hurt you again." Corona was a cursed, broken little girl, her purity stolen, any beliefs in promises and vows, it was all worthless. "I have a job, I'll keep you safe forever, Coro, I promise." Corona stared at him dismally. "Papa promised many times." She muttered under her breath. "Mama was taken by the bad men." She glared, full of misery. "When you leave they'll come back and they'll take me, too."

And so the fated day came and big brother Cormag was going to leave, walk out of her life just like the rest of the family did. "It should only be a few weeks, I'll be back, little sister, just you wait." He left then and Corona just stared at the now closed door of the house. This of course, wasn't the house she grew up in but rather a house of a friend of papa's. They saw her as a pitiful, useless girl, she couldn't be married anymore, no good family would take her, would take what essentially amounted to used goods. Her first time was stolen - she was no longer fit to be a wife. Little Corona was just an extra mouth to feed, a waste of money and resources. Living here, waiting for her fool of a brother to return home, Corona didn't want that at all.

So for the first time since being hurt by the bad men, Corona stood up, on shaking, wobbly feet. She got herself dressed, careful not to make a peep. "We're siblings, so we're supposed to go together." The broken girl whispered to herself in a dainty, fanciful voice. It was easy to escape a house where no one really cared to keep watch of you. Big brother's boat, on the ticket he showed her before, the boat he was boarding as a member of the crew - not that girls were fit to read, that was a male activity - the Anna Karenina. And there it was, those same characters. "If I sneak in, I can protect big brother." Corona was bitter, she was broken, but her sadistic cruelty had yet to develop. Once she had time to heal, but for now, that aspect of her didn't exist.

But wouldn't it be scary, to stowaway on a ship, full of men, men that only did bad things to girls they saw? Wasn't this putting her in danger? But staying here away from brother was the same as telling the bad men to come back for her, right? So did she really have a choice? Suddenly there was a sound, running footsteps, and Corona snapped her eyes at the scene, a girl running, running from something. If it was scary to be the only girl, she could bring this girl along too, couldn't she? so Corona made a brave, inviting face and reached out her hand to the running girl who was quickly approaching. "Do you want to go on an adventure?" She asked in a soft, beckoning voice.

Corona had a phobia of men, ever since that horrible awful moment when everything went wrong. Even now, after some time had passed, the child was still reeling from that event. But if there was another girl to go onboard the Anna Karenina with her, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad, maybe, just maybe things would turn out okay after all. So she reached out an inviting hand, hiding her fear and anxiety, inviting this girl for an adventure. She looked to have been running - running from someone, while Corona was running so that she wouldn't be left behind by the last person that seemed to really care about her. "You can call me Corona." The eponymous Corona said with the best smile she could muster, her grip firm so that this silver haired girl couldn't escape now that she made her choice.

Now was the hard part, actually sneaking onto the ship without anyone noticing. The ship's crew were already on board except for the last few people packing the supplies they needed for whatever the excursion was going to be. Somewhere aboard the Anna Karenina, her big brother, Cormag Liyua, was, preparing for his first outing as a sailor. Corona was going to come too, of course, as well as this oddly flat-chested girl. "Since this is an adventure, let's not talk about our pasts." Corona said wryly. Maybe it was because this was a girl around her age, but Corona found that her usual fear and terror wasn't coming into place. Even with Cormag, she found it difficult to come up with words but here with this girl, it felt almost as if she could pretend to be someone whose purity was still intact. "A lady needs her secrets, yes?"

Before being hurt by the bad men, Corona had been an energetic, excitable child that loved being tricksy and sneaky. Maybe this was a hint of who she once was, coming into play. "I need more rum." The sailor working the supply crates muttered and walked off, leaving it all unattended. There were a few glances from on board the ship, but none careful enough to spot the two girls hidden behind some barrels. "The coast is clear." Corona said with a half smile, heart pounding. Was this really the right choice, to disobey her big brother's orders and follow him to whatever fate wanted him? To leave behind the pains of England, at least for a little while?

Sneakily and silently the two girls got on board, climbing into the hull of the vessel. Before the sailor returned with a new crate full of bottles of rum, Corona managed to find a nook for herself, hidden behind a crate of apples. There was room for her new friend, too. "If we're careful we can eat and hide here." Corona said knowingly, smiling as best as she could. "This is a fishing boat, though, so I hope you won't mind the smell." They weren't like, pirates or anything, so it wasn't as if they would throw the girls overboard upon discovery or anything, right? "What do you want me to call you?" Not asking for a name just in case this girl preferred to keep it a secret.

❝They say people can change, but is that really true? If humans want to fly, will they grow wings?❞

Fate was a funny thing. One moment you could be running for your life, the next you could be getting kidnapped by a girl the same height as her with a grip of iron. She seemed to refuse to let go, her smile sly and knowing exactly what she was doing. It was better, she supposed, than getting caught by them. The spy winced, gripping her side. She had been nicked by a bullet, blood dripping dangerously between her fingertips. This girl called herself Corona, which begged the question, what should the blue haired one call herself? Through her entire career as a spy, she had never had just one name. It was always a cover, from one character to the next. Agent Bolsmore, from Turkey who needed information on the American army. Miss Cordelia Blue, an heiress come to the ball at the Queen of England's court to assassinate the current Prince. A name of her own was not something she had ever thought she could have and yet, there was one thing she had always thought herself to be.

It was from one of those detached whispering of memories, the ones that had been ousted by the agency when she was taken in. Her captor led her to a ship, tall and draped with nets of all sorts. This was a fishing vessel, if she had ever seen one. "This is your vessel?" She asked quietly, getting the feeling that she was going to get in trouble if the two of them were caught lurking around the cargo loading area. This was one of those fancy metal ones, whose bottoms opened to allow cargo into the lower levels. The man tending to the area smelled distinctly of alcohol and vomit, something that made her nose wrinkle and her stomach turn. They were going to see the blood that was dripping onto the floor from the wound in her side, they would be exposed. The girl wiped her foot over the spot, tense with the discovery that they would be sneaking on board.

Not that it wasn't something the agent hadn't done before. The girl, Corona, she didn't want to talk about her past which was fine. "Agreed," that was all the convincing the spy needed to go along with this crazy plan. This strange girl was accepting her, no questions asked, on whatever crazy quest this was. "Secrets are a weapon more dangerous than any armor." Secrets could ruin operations, they could bring down terrorist and lead to the rise of an empire. She had attributed to many of these events during her time as a child operative. Now that the agent was getting older, the agency was able to find more uses for her. More mature missions that would require er, lingerie underneath the uniform she was so used to wearing. This had been part of her final decision to run away, leaving behind everything she had ever known in a quest to find the family she had been separated from. Her only proof that these older brothers had ever existed was in a picture bound to her chest with bandages.

The coast was clear, the two girls crept into the lower cabin of the store room and hid inside a nook between an apple crate and a box littered with first aid supplies. Perfect, that was exactly what the operative needed. She was awfully light headed, the blood coming out was growing dangerously darker, which was a bad sign according to the first aid lessons she had received. "I've smelled worse," she was reluctant to admit. The agent leaned against a crate, panting slightly. What should Corona call her? The operative fished around to that vague memory of a happy day, the one with a woman that looked distinctly like her smiling down and cooing babyish words.

"Reyna," she said with finality. "You may call me Reyna."

A long suppressed smile grew on the dark haired girl's face, a smile that she hadn't shown in who knows how long now. "My fishing vessel? Oh, not quite, my friend, not quite at all." If only she had the money to be able to buy a fishing vessel in the first place. But alas, this didn't belong to her, but rather, a different man, one that Corona didn't really know or recognize. A sneaky smile grew on her face, a cunning aware sort of smile that told the bluenette precisely that Corona might not really be entirely sane. "This wouldn't be quite as exciting an adventure if I owned it, after all!" The sailor left then, giving the girls that precious window of opportunity they needed to dash in and sneak on board, hidden amongst all the cargo crates.

A delighted smile spread on Corona's face, one that showed just how naive she was to what fate had in store for them, now set in stone. "Mission success!" Of course, they were going to need a cover story, one that wouldn't get her big brother in trouble, one that would buy them sympathy just in case things did turn bad. And with war with Nazi Germany on the horizon, it seemed obvious, didn't it? "If anyone asks, we tell them we're trying to run away from the Nazis, to find a safe place!" She squeezed her new friend's hand, feeling quite excited indeed. "Nice to meet you, Reyna."

There were things Corona wanted to do, but they couldn't, not just yet, not until - and finally all the cargo loading was complete, the poor sap stuck with this tiresome job was free to meet up with the rest of his mates up top. And now it was safe for the girls to dig around the cargo crates, to sneak little trinkets out. So Corona lit up a lantern, one of her few posessions from home, to give them light of what they had in store. "Food, medical supplies, there's quite a lot of treasure here." The girl was ravenous so she stole an orange already, peeling it then splitting it into slices for her and Reyna to share, a delicious treat for the cruise.

That was when she saw the blood dripping. Not much, but that was because of the bandages. Corona dug around until she found something - wait, there was movement below, quite a lot of movement. The ship was setting sail, off to wherever fate had in store for the two girls, leering in the dark with only a lantern for light. The broken girl retrieved two important things, a bottle of whiskey and a somewhat absorbent cloth. "You don't mind pain, right?" The girl asked, handing the cloth over. "So you don't get gangrene and rot from your injury." It was time for a seaside adventure, one where nothing could go wrong... right?

The hull of the ship shut, encasing the two girls in darkness. The agent-no-Reyna, that was her name now. Reyna sat up stiffly, grunting with the effort as plasma continued to drip. The other girl lit a lantern, where she had gotten such a crude device was uncertain, but you should never have an open flame on a ship. "I have a flashlight," Reyna rifled around in her bag to retrieve one. As someone who was afraid of the dark, Reyna never went anywhere without it. "You shouldn't have that down here, it might sound off the alarm." She exchanged the flashlight for the torch, blowing it out gently. Her new companion and partial captor got up almost instantly and began opening crates to find out what was inside. What sort of fishing expedition were they going on that they needed so much supplies? Reyna sat up further, if she could do that she could stop the bleeding and keep it from getting infected.

Corona seemed to find an orange and split it open, sharing some with Reyna. Perfect, she was starving. This would give her the small push she needed to get onto her feet. Reyna devoured the orange, how long had it been since her last meal? She wasn't sure. She shakily rose to her feet, the blood running down her leg now, staining the front of her stolen clothes. Corona was ahead of her, however. She grabbed out medical supplies, along with a bottle of alcohol and a cloth. "I can do it," she reached for the supplies. Reyna shimmied out of her shirt. "Just aim the flashlight here, I'll handle it," she was trained in first aid after all. Battle wounds were nothing foreign to her. Reyna unraveled the bandages from around her chest, unsticking the only picture she had of her family. She placed it into her bag and reached for the alcohol and cloth.

It burned of course, Reyna had expected it to. "Hold the flashlight steady," she unzipped the first aid kit and dug through it, finding a pair of tweezers. Without hesitation, Reyna dug them into the wound, biting down her lip to keep from crying out in pain. She fished around, attempting to find what she was looking for. "Got it," Reyna grunted, pulling the bullet out and letting it drop to the floor. She dabbed at the wound with more alcohol, trying to clean herself off. Without the bandages wrapped around her chest, it was much easier to tell that she was a girl. That was one field that Reyna as naturally gifted in. "Point the light down a little, it's in my eyes." Reyna found what she was looking for, a sterile needle and cloth. Her hands were shaking slightly, she was pale from anemia. Reyna took a deep breath in to try and steady herself, then pierced her flesh.

It was excruciating and being unable to cry out in pain made it somehow worse. "Almost... done," she hissed, but her hands were too slick with blood to tie the knot. "Can you tie it? There's gloves in the kit," she gestured with her head to the open bag on the floor. "Just tie it right there," she pointed, her hands turned crimson that glistened in the low light. Once Corona tied it, Reyna washed her hands with alcohol one last time and did her best to clean around the wound. The final step was wrapping it in fresh bandages. "Done," she sighed in relief, discarding the dirty tools in an empty cargo box. There were sailor uniforms in the one next to it, Reyna grabbed one and put it on, replacing the blonde soaked clothes she had previously adorned.

"There," her fake British accent was gone. She picked up the rest of her orange and sank down once again, taking a bite.

Corona felt a tiny bit miffed, she thought she had been so clever when she stole this lantern from the home of her papa's old friend, she thought that she was so smart in bringing a light source, only for this Reyna to decide that no, it wasn't clever, a flashlight was better. "Flashlights don't last forever." The raven haired girl pouted a little, trying to brace herself against the back wall of the cargo area so that she didn't fall into all the crates and hurt herself. As if she could get an injury worse than what Reyna had, though, a bullet wound for some mysterious, cryptic reason. It brought back bad memories of when the bad men took her and she couldn't fight back because of a gun they held, it wasn't until they were finished and let down their guard that she could kill them all with her knife.

It was with grotesque curiosity that Corona watched as Reyna did her stuff with the bandages and the stitches. She lowered the light when asked to, resting it at the wound for ease of access. She would have offered a hand to squeeze to help with the pain, as it no doubt was incredible, but it seemed as if Reyna was stuck using both hands. Not interested in being bitten, Corona bundled up some bandages together and put it in Reyna's mouth to bite, maybe it would help a tiny little bit. There was so much more blood than Corona could have expected. "Yes, sure." The girl muttered, she wasn't the best with her hands but at the very least she could tie a knot.

"There's clothes in this crate, only for men though, but I'm not complaining." The main problem here was that, well, the outfits were way, way too big for the both of them, making Corona and Reyna look nearly comically small, and the two girls were already pretty short to begin with. "Let's eat, especially you, you need to get your strength up." There was another problem now, of course. How were they going to clean the blood stains, unless they wanted to smell blood for the next few days this was going to be a problem. "This is our home for now, so we need to take good care of it."

The first order of business was sleeping quarters. Or, well, beds. Actual mattresses was going to be impossible, but if one bundled up enough cloth together they could make a soft platform to lay on. That coupled with the warmth of a soft female body, it would be the best they could get for a bed. Second order of business was cleaning up the blood, which Corona volunteered to do to take up time because it wasn't like there was much to talk about, the two girls were strangers, essentially, and their pasts were mutually off-limits. With alcohol and a cloth Corona eventually cleaned the blood, hiding it in a dark corner. "So, um, what should we do for bathroom business?" Corona asked, more than a little stumped for this problem.

"You can't have an open flame in a room full of wooden boxes," Reyna pointed out. "Besides, we're more likely to find batteries than matches down here." This wasn't World War One, they had far more advanced technology than lanterns. There was an atomic bob in the making, one that Reyna was supposed to be on her way to sabotage. Instead she had veered from her course, hadn't met her contact in London like she was supposed to and didn't sleep with the man to get the information they wanted. No, Reyna had sold her pretty dress and jewelry for boy's clothes and had been hiding in alleys and boarding houses for the poor, slumming it out until she could devise a way back home to search for the people in that picture. Reyna kept it close, even now. She couldn't let this girl, Corona, go rummaging through her bag. It would completely give Reyna away. So the once-agent stowed it between two crates, keeping the picture with her.

"It doesn't matter, we should be thankful there are clothes at all," she murmured, removing the rest of her blood stained clothing and replacing it with a men's sailor uniform. She was practically drowning in the material, but it was soft and it was warm, so Reyna wouldn't complain. This girl, Corona, was clearly running away for the first time. It was a clever plan, Reyna would give her that much, but if she hadn't been here with her, this child would have already burned the boat down with that open flame. Reyna shook her head, there were more concerning things that needed to be taken care of, like how dizzy Reyna was. "Thanks," she took the offered food and bit into it, the juice of crisp, fresh fruit dribbling down her chin. It was just what Reyna needed to replenish her energy. "We need to find where they keep water, we'll last about three days without it." Meanwhile one could go up to a month without eating food.

Corona was already getting to work, setting up a bed for herself. Reyna should do that too, she figured. She went through the other boxes, careful to put things away and make it look as though no one had been there. Reyna began moving the boxes around, forging a hiding place for them that no one would question. Sailing through the seas meant that things often shifted and with their carefully crafted hiding place, the two of them would not be found as long as they were in there. "I found these, extra blankets and padding that was used to store fragile things." This would give them some cushioning from the ground. Not that Reyna minded sleeping on solid steel, it wouldn't be the first time she had slept on the floor. Reyna took a half a step back, sinking to the ground. She shouldn't be doing such heavy lifting so quickly, she had just performed surgery on herself after all.

Corona seemed to think so too and so the girl volunteered to clean up Reyna's blood, leaving the former spy to sit there and rest in their new hiding place in the dark. They would have to find another flashlight, Reyna hated the dark. When Corona returned with her flashlight, Reyna found herself feeling a bit more at ease. "I was thinking about that, there's no obvious way we can go without the smell alerting someone." Reyna had a sudden idea, "We can sneak up to the top deck at night and do our business then?" They would do it overboard, since neither girl knew where the bathroom was and they couldn't risk running into someone to find it.

An adventure out on the open sea, wasn't this just fantastic? Corona was having fun here, with her new roommate, Reyna. Sure, they didn't have much to talk about, and sure, they would probably at the end of this adventure part ways and never ever see each other again, but at least for now they were able to have this time together that they could share. Even if Reyna was a bit of a knowitall and made Corona feel dumb about her brilliant escape plan that perhaps wasn't as brilliant as she was letting on. After all, this girl was running away from people with guns, that was more advanced than what Corona had done. But, Corona puffed confidently, she killed people! Reyna probably never did, because most people tend not to end up in life or death situations, that was just how it was!

Yes, Reyna definitely had to be an innocent type of girl, that was what made the most sense. Meanwhile Corona was defiled and damaged, used goods that no one wanted. She was anything but innocent, that's for sure. "We're surrounded by water." Corona mumbled, because they were, in fact, out on the sea. "But I don't know how to filter salt water out." She glanced at the whiskey and rum crates in bepuzzlement. "I don't know how to filter alcohol out of the alcohol either..." Papa loved to drink in the past, so that bitter, unmistakable smell always brought back bad memories. When papa drank, he did stupid things, he gambled away everything.

And there it was, two makeshift beds were made for two girls, with cloths to make a softer place to lay on, blankets for when it became cold, and pillows to rest their heads upon. With that there wasn't much else to do except wait for night in order to relieve themselves - hopefully the urge to urinate or the other wouldn't come until then, because it wasn't as if Corona was an expert at suppressing it. That was when suddenly they heard a creaking sound and a door seemed to open, a door in the ceiling, reveling light and a ladder. Corona was very quick to duck into her sheets, hidden in a dark corner untouched by the light, hopefully Reyna got the same idea.

"There ain't nothin' quite like the sea, mate." A gruff voice, a veteran of the open ocean most definitely. "Yer new, kid, what brings ya out here? Most kids your age are still with their noses in books." There it was, her brother's voice, Corona could recognize it anywhere. "I needed money to support my sister, Captain." He said honestly and Corona couldn't help but wonder if being honest was such a good idea. "No lassies back home waiting for you?" Cormag didn't have a lady he liked, not really, and he said as much. "Just my sister, Captain." There was a laugh and the two men gathered armfulls of whiskey, as well as what looked like a large rope net. "You'll love it on the sea, kid. There ain't nothing better than this, cept for a nice young lass's rump, of course." There were a few more lewd comments and each one made Corona shake and shiver, the girl had started hyperventilating.

The door opened. Reyna dove underneath her covers, wincing in pain. The sight of blood was before her eyes, the memory of it dripping between her fingers making the agent close her eyes. Wasn't that funny? A murderer with a fear of blood? Perhaps it was because all of the violence that it was such a deterrent? Reyna was glad she hadn't panicked, if she had hesitated to take care of the wound on her side she could have ended up dead from blood loss. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that this stranger found her and dragged her here? To the one place those agents would never be able to find her. It seemed that Reyna wasn't the only one experiencing trauma from the past. The ladder withdrew, the door shut. Reyna sat up, wondering if it would be alright to put her hand on Corona's. "They're gone," she whispered, hesitated, then put her hand over the other girl's. Maybe it would be best to rest? Reyna's stomach growled, she was still hungry.

"While we're up there, we'll have to steal water." Reyna had no qualms with doing what she had to, to survive. Even if it meant stealing to live, even if it meant killing a former ally. Reyna looked down at Corona, who seemed to be hyperventilating. She clicked the flashlight back on and eased Corona onto her side for easier breathing. "Hey, whatever it is, you don't have to tell me, just know that it's over. We're on our way to a better place," She touched the picture in her pocket gently to ensure that it was still there. For Reyna, she would finally be free. Reyna wasn't sure what Corona was running from, or if he was even running at all. No one would ever expect that she would return to America. She had no passport, no birth certificate, as far as either country was concerned, Reyna didn't exist.

Could this girl say the same? Perhaps she too was an agent? One in the UK ward that was running for her life? No, Reyna somehow doubted it. She was too immature, too loud. If Corona was an operative, then she was a terrible one. "We'll be there eventually," Reyna was growing tired. It wasn't late, but she had nothing to do and was still quite weak. If she just lay down and rested her head to ease up the pain, no one would mind, right? It's not like either girl had something to talk about, they had already made a rule to not reveal anything about their past unless they wanted to. Still, they could always find something to converse about. Maybe when they were able to sneak out they would spot something worthy of conversing? "A few minutes... won't hurt," Reyna opened one eye to make sure that her bag was still in place. Yup, still stuck between two boxes above them.

With that reassurance she closed one eye, then the other, falling easily into sleep. Normally, Reyna would never let down her guard in front of a stranger, but somehow the combination of exhaustion and the fear of making her wound worse had gotten to her. If Corona had meant to kill her, she would have done it while Reyna was weakened and dripping blood. No, Corona could be trusted for the moment, unless she did something to prove that she was really an enemy.

Her brother and the captain left then and Corona was spiraling quickly. In that moment all she could feel was the powerlessness as both her and mama were taken and used and abused and they they stole mama and it was too late and all Corona could do was kill everyone before she was stolen away too, before she was kidnapped and never seen in the light of day again. In that moment, everything changed, nothing was fixable anymore, it was all over. In that moment, her whole world was warped into a nightmare. A hand was on her, two hands, Corona instinctively panicked but then the hands were gentle, helping her lay down to make it easier to breathe and slowly, slowly, the panic attack passed and Corona felt a tiniest fraction of ease settle back in.

"Um, it was just a mysterious disease." The traumatized girl managed, trying to laugh it off. "That's right, I was infected with the non contagious... Wysteria Virus, where I have trouble breathing sometimes!" She spoke grandiosely, far too loud, far too carelessly, but no one other than Reyna seemed to have heard. Yes, she would prefer having some mysterious illness, it was far less shameful than the truth of the situation. Reyna didn't seem to buy the lie, and she spoke almost wistfully of going to a better place. "You too." Corona mumbled in a low voice, feeling more than a little embarrassed. "We're both gonna end up in a better place."

Eventually Reyna went to sleep and Corona figured she might as well try to get water for the two of them. That was important - also important was the fact that she had a horrible urge to use the bathroom. Reyna needed rest and Corona felt the inexplicable need to prove herself to her for now companion. So she listened outside until all sounds of people were gone, and then the girl snuck out, opening the door that lead to the outside, finding the stars looking back at her. Everyone else was asleep for the moment, and the net was set up for heavy duty fishing work tomorrow. It was beautiful in a way, not that Reyna could see it.

After relieving herself off the side of the boat, Corona decided to glance around, but she didn't find any obvious signs of water. Too cowardly to actually enter the inner ship to look for where the water was kept, Corona meekly returned to the cargo room where she and Reyna would have to live in secret for the next while. They were going to need water eventually, but for now, Corona could shut her eyes and she too, could fall into a fitful, worried sleep, bundled up in the blankets and curled protectively. The girl didn't make a single sound as she slept, not a snore or a breath or even random sleep talking, seeming almost dead as she slumbered.

Reyna didn't wake up not the next morning, but two mornings after that. Apparently her exhaustion was much worse than she thought and her body had taken its time healing. She sat up slowly, desperately thirsty. For a moment Reyna panicked, forgetting where she was and what had happened. Seeing Corona there was a stark reminder that brought her back to reality and Reyna reached for her bag to grab her water. She chugged a good amount, twisting the cap back on to save a few drops for later. She had to pee terribly, but as it was morning Reyna would have to wait until much later. No matter, she had done much harder things in her short life. "How long was I out?" Reyna asked, rubbing one of her blue eyes. The sailor shirt slipped down her shoulder, she had no sense of how much time had passed and her pocket watch was irrelevant considering they could possibly be in a different time zone.

"Wysteria virus..." Reyna trailed off, there was no such thing. She wasn't such a fool that she would believe some made up fantasy about a fake illness named after a flower. Or maybe there was such a thing? Reyna wasn't a doctor, she was a mercenary. Speaking of which, she stood and stretched, groaning at the stiffness in her side. Some alcohol would have been enough to drown that out, but Reyna hated having her sense impaired. "We're rocking quite a lot, aren't we?" She noted, stumbling. The boxes shifted slightly and Reyna was quick to fix them so that they weren't buried underneath. She settled back down on the floor, her stomach growling. Reyna opened the crate nearest her, picking out a shiny red apple and wiping it against her shirt. She bit into it with a satisfying munch! Now, what was there for the two to speak about? Reyna couldn't tell Corona anything, most things she knew were highly classified or risked exposing her.

Her memories of her earlier life had been stolen from her using electric shock therapy to insure that there would be no emotions getting in the way of her mission. "How old are you?" Reyna eventually decided to ask, hoping to break the silence. Corona had probably been all alone while Reyna was asleep, unless Corona too, had been asleep the entire time? Somehow Reyna doubted that. The ship lurched again and Reyna found herself sliding. "Oof!" She cried out as she hit a wall, stars dancing in front of her eyes. Her side now hurt terribly from having landed on her stitches. At least it was no longer bleeding, although Reyna felt sticky and dirty. "Maybe it's about time we search for a bathroom?" She wasn't sure how she expected them to make it so long without using the shower.

"Tonight we should find one," they could both do with washing themselves off. Reyna was certain she was beginning to smell and she wasn't sure about Corona due to the fact that they were on opposite sides of their hiding space. It's a good thing that the men on this ship were such heavy drinkers, it meant that they slept like babies which was good for them, albeit probably bad for business.

Reyna didn't awake until much, much later, two whole days. Corona didn't sleep that long, and she managed to do a mini hunt in the inside of the ship just a few hours ago, in fact. The little brunette was very happy with how that excursion went, but needing to wait all day just to use the bathroom was more than a little awful, especially without someone to suffer alongside her. There were a few tense moments, but Corona managed to find where some of the water bottles were stored, taking some for her and Reyna. Of course, Reyna wasn't an idiot, she knew to keep the empty bottles, they were useful for one thing in particular and that was pee gathering. It was scary, but Corona even managed to muster the bravery needed to sneak to find where her brother was sleeping, he looked so tired after doing so much hard work.

After this adventure, Corona returned to her temporary home in the cargo room, moving as stealthily as a snake. Mission accomplished, there were only good things that could happen as a result! But once Reyna woke up Corona realized she hadn't been able to really get any sleep at all. The girl was exhausted but for whatever reason she just laid in her makeshift bed for hours, unable to fall to sleep whatsoever. "That's right, Wysteria Virus, it'll kill me in five years!" Corona almost barked, adding random details to maybe make it more believable. "And it's absolutely not contagious, it's a genetic virus, I inherited it!" Not that viruses could be genetic, really, but it wasn't as if eugenics and other biological things were very well known quite yet.

An hour or so passed of silence and then Reyna asked another question, making Corona flinch from the sudden noise. She had almost drifted off but then - ah, it didn't matter, it was better to be awake just in case. "I'm f-eighteen! Eighteen!" Corona lied, puffing out her chest to try to seem older. Reyna was her size, but she seemed so much more mature and Coro didn't want to seem like the one dragging the team down! "How old are you?" She then realized something and tossed a water bottle Reyna's way. "I have a few bottles, and that one's empty. You know what you can do with it, r-right? I, uh, won't look." Every lady needed modesty, after all.

It seemed that Corona was not asleep and when Reyna sat up, Corona did as well. She was declaring, that her illness was one inherited, not a completely made up disease that Reyna could so clearly see through. Well, you never know, scientists were always coming up with some sort of invention or discovery. "Alright, I believe you," Reyna said quietly, careful to keep her voice down. The boat continued to rock, it seemed that they were in quite a rough patch. "I apologize for sleeping so long, it must have been lonely down here." Reyna rubbed her eyes, feeling as though there was something crunchy poking her in the eyes. Once the eye boogers were out, Reyna opened up her crystal blue orbs to see that Corona was holding out an empty water bottle. Almost on instinct Reyna knew exactly what to do with it. "Thanks," she murmured and with some effort managed to stand up.

She shuffled into a corner for modesty's sake and let her drawers fall to her ankles. Reyna wasn't sure how to pee in a bottle. She had peed in plenty of bushes and alleyways, but never in a bottle. Sure, cups for drug tests but that was different. When she had finished her business, the bottle was full. Reyna carefully capped it, then used some of the alcohol to sanitize her hands. There was nothing to wipe with, unfortunately, but whatever. She pulled her pants back on and disposed of the bottle in the designated garbage crate. "How much longer do you think we'll be here for?" The operative asked as she searched for something more sustaining to eat. There were plenty of veggies and fruits, but Reyna was looking for something more sustaining.

"Found it," she said, pulling out canned rations. It was stacked in a box precariously close to the ceiling. Reyna put her apple in her mouth to hold onto it, took several cans and carefully made her way back to the ground level of the storage room. "Do you still have that lantern?" She inquired, taking it and placing one of the cans over the small open flame to warm the food up. It seemed that Corona was finally in the mood to answer her earlier inquiry. "I'm not sure how old I am," Reyna admitted. "I've never celebrated my birthday, but I figure I must be between fourteen and sixteen." That was about as much information Reyna could offer of her past. The can was sufficiently warm, so Reyna went to warming up the next one. She took a multitool out of her bag, using the can opener piece to pry the top off.

"Here, careful, it's hot." They had no silverware, so Reyna carefully bent the top of the can to use as a spoon to shovel what looked to be chili into her mouth. She quickly put out the fire and stacked the cans in the corner for a meal later on. How many matches did they have left? It had been three days, how many more until they reached America? Or were they even going towards that side of the equator? No matter, even if they ended up on the other side of the Equator, Reyna was confident that she would be able to find her way back to where she was born.

This truly was an otherwordly experience. Corona, who had spent most of her life in poverty, stuck doing housework at home most of the day while her brother got to go to an Academy, she had never really been exposed to the outside world before. And now here she was, a stowaway on a fishing boat, but as to where they were headed after getting fish was anyone's guess. Corona knew a few details from her brother, that the whole excursion would take three weeks, which probably meant time spent fishing, time spent selling, and a slew of other things as well, like supply transports and other such things. Of course, with two girls in the cargo hold that no one could have expected. "Three weeks until we return to Britain." Corona said knowingly, trying to seem more mysterious than she was. "But if you're looking to run away, I suppose you'll be leaving once the sailors hit shore to sell the fish they catch."

With Reyna gone, Corona was going to be all alone, and she would end up drowning in fear.. but at least for now, she had a companion, so she better make the most of it while she could. "Thank you for coming along with me, I would have been lonely without you." And she would be lonely once Reyna decided it was her stop and got off the boat. Eventually Reyna found food and Corona handed the lantern over for the more knowledgeable of the two to use, eventually making some sort of meal for the both of them to enjoy. "I'm older, of course." Corona said a little snootily. "Seeing as I'm eighteen!" A typical mistake of many liars, repeating one's lie to make sure the other person heard it.

It wouldn't be until much later that Corona sharpened her mental box, but for now, she was akin to a dull blade. "You're talented for a young one!" She said, once again making a mistake many inexperienced liars made, and then she dug into the food - or, well, she would have if she didn't hit her finger against the sizzling hot aluminium of the can. "Ow, ow, it hurts, it's hot!" Already her finger was blistering and burned an angry red color and the girl was almost crying. Only almost, because this pain was nothing compared to what she suffered before, no doubt pains that Reyna couldn't comprehend. Oh, if Corona only knew just how ignorant she was, but there was time for that later.

Corona ended up wasting a full bottle of water, running the liquid over her hurt finger to ease the pain. Luckily they had a pot for the water to spill into, but it looked a little grimy, meaning the water wasn't fit for drinking any longer. "We're going to have to find the water supply soon." Corona said, trying to be a strategist for this journey. "The actual water supply reservoir thing, not just the bottles." They needed to find the bathrooms too, to maintain their hygiene, most definitely. It'll be easier to find the necessary things when not burdened by dehydration and thirst and grossness, after all. "I managed to find a way to tell the time of day, too!" Corona felt like a genius this time. She stood up on an empty crate, touching a part of the metal that surrounded them.

"This is above sea level, so the sun hits it in good weather! So when it's warm, that means the sun is out! When it's not as warm, the sun's gone, so it's either night or a storm or something else." And whatever the case was, it meant that the coast would be clear for the two of them, either to sneak into the main brig, or to enjoy the rainfall and clean up in said rain. She smiled satisfactorily, almost fishing for praise from her companion.

Reyna was about to tell Corona to keep it down when the door swung open. She dove underneath her makeshift bed, the can of food trembling in her hands. "I smell a rat," someone said and Reyna yanked Corona down. If she could distract them, then maybe Corona could stay hidden and they'd think that she was the only one here? Echo glanced at Corona. She had been stupid to think that they could get away with the this. Reyna grit her teeth, this was her mistake, she wasn't going to let Corona suffer for it. "Ugh, what is that, it stink!" A sailor waved his hand in front of his face. "Worse than the fish!" He peered down into the crate they had been using for garbage. "That's no rat, rats are smart, I'll give 'em that, but they don't use human sized clothes." Reyna squeezed her eyes shut. The clothes she had been wearing before, she had dumped them in there. "They're blood stained, so whoever stowed away is injured."

"Alright, come out and we won't punish you!" Once again Reyna met Corona's eyes. She would do this, she would risk getting thrown off of the boat so that Corona could finish the journey. Reyna judged her bag towards the girl, only taking her picture with her. There were things in there that Corona could use, fake passports, a multi tool, a switchblade. Slowly Reyna stood, taking her time. "It's me," she said, climbing over the boxes, holding her side and faking a limp. "I stowed away, I didn't realize the ship was going out to the ocean, I thought it was just a warm place to sleep." Reyna dug her nails into her wound to make herself tear up. "I-I was just so tired of sleeping on the streets," true enough. She sniffled, running her arm across her nose to wipe up imaginary snot. "And I saw the fresh fruit, I just couldn't stop myself."

"It's just a kid."

"And a girl at that. No wonder there's been such a storm," one sailor stepped forward. "Should we kill her? That'll stop it, right? Make it better for the fish?" The one who seemed to be the ring leader shook his head. "Nah, is jus' a kid. Can't hurt no innocents. Alright, come here girlie, once we got back we'll turn you in to the proper authorities." Now, now she was close enough. Her hands trembled, in the waistband of her pants was a gun. If she took it out and shot them, she could get away. No, Reyna had to preserve her bullets. If they intended to hand her over she was going to need those to take care of the peacekeepers. "You there! Cormag, clean up in here! It's disgusting it is," Reyna was pushed forward. She continued in her limp, not so fake after having dug her nails right into her stitches. "Let's get you cleaned up, you smell something awful." That was true, Reyna wasn't going to deny the fact that she more than likely reeked.

One hot shower (with more than one peeping Tom) later and Reyna was in a holding cell in the brig. It wasn't so bad, there was a bench that she could pretend was comfier than it looked and she was getting real food. Reyna dug in with gusto. "You could see the kids ribs, no wonder she's eatin' so much."

"It all goes to that chest of her's." Nothing Reyna hadn't heard before. She had been told more than once that her proportions were unreal. "I'm sorry Corona," Reyna whispered. Hopefully Corona wouldn't be discovered. "Whatdya say?"

"I said, can I have more water?" The man walked off, coming back with a cup, a bucket, and a blanket. "This is your bathroom, I would take care not to go number two if I were you." Reyna nodded, not her first time in captivity, although the boat was new.

It was time for disaster to strike it seemed. When the sailors came, once again Corona completely froze up in fear, ghosts of the past came back to haunt her, the girl couldn't have done anything, even if she tried. Was it a mistake after all, should she have just stayed in Britain? But no, that wouldn't have worked, she killed a lot of bad men, they would come for revenge for their friends, they would have hurt her worse than she could have hoped to imagine. Fear of the men, fear of what they could do made Corona shake in the corner, unable to do anything at all. And then Reyna did something horrible, a mistake only an innocent maiden could make - the mistake of revealing herself to men. "No, don't, you don't know what men can do!" Corona hissed in a low whisper, snapping herself out of the terrified reverie, but it was too late.

It was bad enough that one of them knew the cruelty of men, the pain and suffering that only men could accomplish. The dark haired girl shivered as Reyna was taken away, this was all her fault, if she hadn't been so selfish as to force the girl to come along, her purity - but no, there was still a chance, there was still a way for everything to work out. Corona still had time, she couldn't let this happen to Reyna, she couldn't doom her friend to the worst fate imaginable! There was no way, men took enough victims, Reyna wouldn't be added to the count if Corona could do anything about it! "Aye, Cap'n." Her brother said and he entered the cargo hold. Corona scampered to hide, gripping Reyna's precious bag of strange tools most ladies wouldn't have. She wanted to call out to her brother, but Corona wouldn't, he wouldn't be able to keep it a secret.

Corona should have known not to trust empty promises. Her brother would just end up being another failure on a long list of failures. No, Coro needed to save Reyna using her own power, the only thing she could rely on. And if there was anything the girl was skilled with, it was the use of a knife. With the element of surprise, Corona would be able to do it, she would save Reyna from that horrible pain that she had to feel. Once Cormag cleaned up a bit and muttered something about getting a mop to make the cleaning up faster, Corona knew what she had to do.

She waited, she waited and hid in the corner, and finally her brother came back, it was night time when it happened. If it was going to be a blood bath to save Reyna from the clutches of the sailors, Corona would definitely fight, she would. First things first, she dashed out and immediately shut the latch, locking her brother to stumble in the dark. The girl was shaking, both with rage and with terror - but there was nothing else she could do. Out in the stormy sea, one little girl was resolved to commit mass murder to save possibly her only friend in the world.

Hiding behind the door to the main inner part of the ship, Corona managed to stab a man right in the back, and as he spun to try to defend himself she lunged at him, stabbing him in the chest and then after a desperate struggle she managed to choke him to death, the sounds muffled from the rain and the wind. Corona was heaving, her eyes were wide and unfocused, but then she climbed off of the man, feeling a rush of pleasure that was impossible to describe, a rush only murder could give her. And so she rushed in, not being trained like Reyna was, and then Corona claimed two more victims, slashing and sneaking her way to her goal-

Well, that was the plan until she was cornered by the Captain. "Looks like we have quite the rabid rat." The Captain snarled, seeing the blood of his friends and employees on the girl before him. "You filthy disgusting men, always touching and hurting girls, I won't allow it!" Corona charged, knife swinging, but unlike with the other victims, she didn't have the element of surprise and it was more than easy for the Captain to grab her wrist and squeeze until Corona had to choice but to drop the knife. "We don't hurt innocents, but you for sure ain't one." While Reyna - unknown to Corona - was given mercy at a first glance, Corona had blood literally on her hands.

After beating her into submission, the Captain lugged Corona's limp and shivering body to the mast of the ship, tying her in place. "Once the storm dies down, let's tie you and see you try and swim." They were going to tie her to a rope, attach the rope to the mast, and then let her dangle behind the ship in the water, a cruel painful horrible way to die. "For killin' my good men, it's all a rat like you deserves, girlie." He tore off her clothes, as if it was a disgrace for a little murderess to be wearing sailor clothes. "Those clothes are only for my friends, not a killer like you." His laugh was drowned out by the sound of the whipping storm and Corona couldn't help but wish she could have at least rescued Reyna.

There was only one another person in the room, a male assigned to guard her. "So girly, how old are ya?" He inquired, taking a sip from his flask. Reyna forced her voice to tremble, "f-f-fourteen," he raised an eyebrow. Reyna looked down at the empty tray, feeling fuller than she had in a long time. "How'd ya get so desperate that you'd sneak onto a fishin' vessel?" Reyna dug her nails into her wound again, attempting to make herself tear up. "Don't be scared, no one's gonna hurt ya." Reyna nodded, keeping her gaze on the floor, screwing up her face to show that she was about to cry. "M-my Mum," the fake British accent was back of course. "Died of TB and my Da went off to war. H-he didn't come back and when Mum died, they kicked me out of the house we were rentin. Said no money, no home. I was born with a gimp, I couldn' work in the factories cause of it. So all I could do was beg." The sailor was tearing up a little bit now too he was so sold on her story.

"S-so I was beggin' on the streets and a man spat at me and he said, he said-" she paused to choke back another fake sob. "He said he hopes Hitler takes mercy and kills me first." The sailor gasped, hook line and sinker. He opened up the door to the cell, reeking of whiskey and wrapped his arms around her in a bear hug. "Oh you poor dearie! Don' worry, the Queen won' ever let that man take the crown from her. He'll have to pry it out of her cold, dead hands!" Reyna nodded, sniffling. "So, yas got a name?" He put her back down carefully on the bench and Reyna finally braved a glance up. "It's Reyna, but my Mum and Da-" another sob, "they-they used to call me Rey." He ruffled her hair, "well dun' ya worry Rey, you'll be going straight to St. Mary's with that leg o' yours, the nuns will take care a you there."[/color]

Oh if only he knew where Reyna would actually be going if they authorities ever did catch her. She suspected straight to the gallows, or the firing squad. The worst thing they could do would be handing her back over to America. She could serve a death sentence for trying to run away. Reyna had planned to disappear and remake herself through immigration on Ellis Island. She would be Reyna Ramirez, from Greece. "Hey, with a posh name like tha', I bet yer Mum and Da knew you'd end up in a good place." He ruffled her hair one last time, then left the cell and closed the door behind him. The lights turned down, it was time to sleep. Now was her chance. He had exited the room, allowing Reyna to trigger her gag reflex and puke up the lock picking kit she had swallowed, as well as her dinner. She washed it off quickly with the extra cup of water she had requested and began working on the lock.

Corona, she had to find Corona and tell her that the sailors were nice, that they were friendly and wouldn't treat them bad. When Reyna opened up the door to the store room though, there was only a confused looking sailor. A hand rested on her shoulder, Reyna jumped and whirled around. "Looking for your friend?" The Captain asked, holding up her blood stained switchblade and her backpack. "And what, may I ask, were you planning to do with these?" He overturned the contents, spilling out classified documents, fake passports, and her multitool. Reyna swallowed, caught red handed. She had only ever been in one operation where she had been caught in her lie and she had barely escaped with her life. "A spy? For Hitler? Are you working for the Nazis?" Reyna shook her head vigorously. "No," she said quietly, "but now that you've found all of that stuff I have no choice." She reached slowly into her waistband where her gun was hidden. "No choice? What? You're gonna report our fishing vessel to your boss?"

She drew quickly, but he stepped to the side, grabbing her wrist and then the barrel of the gun to disarm her. Reyna was trapped in a headlock, the much larger man choking her. He dug into her side, having noticed that she favored it and Reyna cried out in pain. "You're gonna tell me everything and then you're gonna walk the plank."

When the early morning broke, Corona was still tied to the mast of the ship, albeit hanging limply as if she wasn't really there. The girl was coughing steadily, she was feverish and felt sick, her lungs almost felt as if they were swimming but that was impossible, wasn't it? Over the night the girl contracted pneumonia and was exhibiting the early symptoms of the disease. "The storm ended because we caught the wenches, it seems." The captain snarled viciously. Where was her brother, why couldn't he save her? Or was there even a point to being saved anymore? Every time Corona drew breath, it felt as if her chest was being stabbed, slowly worsening as time went on. "It's time for you to take a bath, wench, are you ready?"

The ropes rubbed painfully against her naked skin and Corona couldn't do anything as she was released from the mast, although the ropes were still binding her arms and legs and there was cloth around her mouth, preventing speech. Breathing was hard enough without the cloth blocking off one of her airways, that's for sure. Corona was too exhausted from spending a night bombarded by rain and wind, she couldn't even feel the fear anymore. All she could do was stare faintly at the Captain and the crew, at her brother that looked confused as he stared, not recognizing her with her hair almost covering her face from the storm's rampage.

And with that she was thrown overboard unceremoniously, but instead of just being allowed to sink, Corona was still attached to the ship, the rope that bound her ankles was connecting her to the mast of the boat, making the girl skid and bounce across the surface of the water. It was agony, worse than just being tied up overnight, it felt like her body was being broken, bruised, battered by the ocean's waves, and not only that, but it was impossible to try to breathe, every time the girl made an attempt, painful stinging salt water went into her nose instead, feeling as if it was burning up her airways.

There was a painful crack as the bones in her shoulders broke from the angle her arms were tied, the force of the waves and the boat were tearing Corona apart. She couldn't even think anymore, her entire world was just being skinned alive by the ocean, but not being allowed to drown, not being allowed to just blissfully fall into a deep comforting sleep. It was around then that Reyna was caught by the Captain but Corona was too lost in the pain to really know anymore, not that she could see or hear anything from her swim. All the girl could do was wait for death to slowly stretch it's jaws out and claim her, and to hope that her brother wouldn't realize it until the end. But judging from how he stared with a puzzled look, Corona couldn't help but wonder if it was too late for that.

"I-I can't," Reyna choked, sitting bound in the chair. Her escape attempt had failed, her gun had been taken, and the only picture she had of her family was in her enemy's hand. "Who are the people in this photo?" He asked again, shoving it underneath her nose as though that would change her answer. "I already told you!" Reyna had dropped the nice girl act, there was no more fake British accent either. "I don't know! I can't tell you because I don't know! All I know, is that they're my family." Her chest heaved slightly, there were ropes drawn across the wound on her stomach. "I was an orphan, they took me from-"

"Who are they?" Reyna stiffened. She could swim, when they threw her in the water she would swim back to shore, no matter how many days it took. "The Pearl Flag Society," Reyna whispered, the words leaving her lips before she could stop them. "They separated me from my family, they took my memory and forced me to-to kill people." Her hands clenched into fists, holding the rope binding her hands in her palms. Reyna had loosened the binds so that she could move her hands. When she was in the water she would loosen the ones on her legs and swim away. Hopefully Corona was alright, Reyna had no idea that she had been caught and was hanging overboard. "I was undercover, trying to deconstruct a nuclear bomb when that girl kidnapped me and forced me onto the ship." Self preservation came first of course and if she could pin the blame on Corona to escape, she would.

"I don't know of any nuclear bomb."

"What you don't know will be enough to fill our history books." He grunted, nodding towards his cronies. "Take her away, I think it's about time you had your trial." They stripped Reyna of her clothes, her hair not long enough yet to cover the essential bits. At this stage in time, Reyna had short, boy like hair that was easily hidden underneath wigs or hats. Men leered and pointed, she was well developed at this stage in life. Reyna held her head up high, not meeting their eyes. She didn't need to meet their eyes to know where their shameful gazes led. The plank had been set out, a short piece of wood that led over the side of the ship. "Any final words?" The Captain asked, withdrawing her sword. Reyna stepped onto the board, walking out without so much a needing prodding. "If you ever come across them," Reyna said quietly, referencing the picture he had stolen from her. "Please, tell them I said goodbye." Reyna took one great breath and jumped, the cold water hitting her like needles against her skin.

She gasped, inhaling the ocean as she thrashed, pulling off the ropes on her hands when she collided with something in the water and was snagged. The something was Corona, scraped raw by the surface. Reyna gasped once more, choking on salty sea. She was caught on the other girl and so Reyna hooked her legs around Corona's middle to attach them. She had nothing to use to untie the ropes and her lungs were burning. Reyna surfaced for but a moment to gasp in the crisp air before diving back underneath to work on the ropes around Corona. Her fingers fumbled, she needed to move faster. The ropes slipped, the tide cut into her skin, causing little cuts that were probably going to sting like hell when she wasn't pumping with adrenaline. Finally, Reyna had loosened the rope enough to slip Corona's leg out, the two of them getting tossed back in the water, the boat disappearing in the distance.

They sunk downwards, Reyna trying to carry two of them with the rope tangled between her legs. Her efforts were futile, there were spots dancing in her vision, making Reyna want to throw up. Finally her lungs could stand it no more. Reyna began to feel sleepy while she tried to kick towards the surface. It wasn't working, she needed more power!

The pain of everything was sharp and terrible and exquisite and Corona couldn't really make sense of left or right anymore. Her body was broken just like her mind had, the girl was no longer struggling, she was just hanging limply from the ropes that had broken her shoulder blades, dislocated both arms. Her lungs were burning painfully from trying to catch breath, and the girl most definitely had a fever that was making everything worse. The infection settled in her lungs, not that the infection would be what would kill her. She was going to die like this, and maybe it was all that a murderess deserved. Reyna was innocent, she probably never hurt a fly, but Corona killed people before and she killed people again. It was all that she was good for, this was basically capital punishment, wasn't it?

And then she felt an impact that quite quite a bit more solid than a wave. Corona's heart fell, it was Reyna, she too was naked, she must have been defiled in the same way Corona once had been. The girl tried to say something with the last vestige of her sanity but it was nigh impossible to speak when she was being dragged helplessly by the ship, when the waves kept crashing into her face every time she tried to speak. "I-" She then coughed violently, every cough making her arms hurt more as it rocked her body against the ropes and against the waves. The apology was going to be unsaid, but chances are Reyna wouldn't have been able to hear it regardless. Reyna was an innocent and she was caught up in a fate like this, all because of Corona's selfishness.

Eventually Reyna was able to undo both their ropes and Corona wasn't even sure what that was going to accomplish. Corona couldn't swim, she was just going to be a dead weight like this, and then she would drown in the cold, cold ocean. All Reyna accomplished was ensuring Corona died a quicker, more merciful death, rather than being dragged for miles against the ocean until she was just a sack of bruised flesh and pain. But when the two girls began sinking, Corona pushed her body against that of Reyna, pushing her companion closer to the surface, pushing herself deeper into the depths of the ocean where nothing could escape. "Go without me, swim if you can, I can't, not anymore." Is what she tried to say but Corona ended up inhaling water and began to choke and cough and seize.

Pain filled everything, filling her lungs, her body, her head was ringing, her lungs were desperately gulping for air now despite this being the ocean and more water entered her system. The girl was most definitely drowning a painful, pitiful death and a part of her wished that she hadn't let go of Reyna so that she wouldn't be alone in her final moments. Corona shut her eyes, not knowing her brother was screaming as he realized exactly what had happened to his little sister. Corona took her last glance of the world as a human and then shut them for good, feeling too sleepy to even register all the pain anymore, where was Reyna, did she make it, was she okay?
