Dark brown curls border a tanned, freckled face. Usually tamed in some manner, those curls reach just to her shoulder. Naturally slim, Catia's skin is littered with the sun-touched freckles that adorn her face, especially on areas which see more sun. A birthmark, no larger than a small coin, sits on her outer thigh. A lighter shade of skin than the rest, it is shaped, according to her mother, like a daisy. A small scar on her chest, above her heart, stands as a reminder of a childhood operation to cure an infant heart defect.

In terms of clothing and make-up, Catia has a definite feminine feel to her wardrobe, favouring floral summer dresses in the warmer months, and body-hugging jumpers and jeans in the winter with as many accessories as deemed necessary. Tasteful jewellery makes frequent appearances; a simple silver necklace, earrings, a few rings. She loves layering up in winter, but has no problem cooling off in a short skirt and tank in summer either. Cat's wardrobe might not be the height of fashion, but there's no doubt she makes sure she looks at least half-way decent. Catia wears makeup most days too, usually aiming for a natural effect rather than something especially ostentatious.

Catia believes that it's not the volume of your argument, but the content which wins the debate, and with three boisterous older brothers Catia has had to learn how to make herself heard over her brothers' shouted points. Cat is strong, a touch argumentative, and undeniably stubborn, ready to dig her heels in and stand her ground as often as necessary. Though, she also possesses an incredible amount of patience, happy to wait as another outlines their opposing points, as if biding her time until they make a flawed point, at which stage Catia will pounce with a smug smirk. The girl can appreciate another's good argument, even if she maintains that her own stance is superior.

That being said, she's intelligent enough to know when she has lost the battle, sharp enough to adapt her argument when needed. and perceptive enough to 'graciously' bow out when she is on the losing side. Well, perhaps losing a debate leaves the competitive Brazilian a touch sore, but defeat only furthers her desire to succeed. Ambition is not a stranger to Miss Rios, she has her dreams and she isn't scared of putting in the effort to get there. Natural intellect and good study habits have helped immensely. Plus, Cat adjusts fairly well as challenges arise, and remains resilient in the face of any hurdles.

Even when debating some issue vehemently, there's no denying the vivacity in Catia. She may not be the loudest in the group, but she's still a charismatic and approachable young woman; a bright presence who enjoys surrounding herself with people. After any long, solitary study session in the library, all Catia will want to do is find some friends to relax with. She's a good spirit to be around, grins and trades jokes easily, or happily sits in companionable silence. Having grown up in a large family where hugs were used in greeting and farewell, she's big on touching. A dejected friend will be pulled into her arms when in need of comfort, or a celebrating pal hugged tight in congratulations.

Defensiveness naturally occurs when she feels she's being treated differently to those around her. Cat hates being talked down to, or treated like a little girl. It has been years since Catia has had to worry seriously about her health, yet her mother still continues to treat Lucia as if she was still the same, broken child. Needless to say, anyone else treating her the same way will receive a glare, maybe some biting remark about what they can do with their 'concern'. Cat's mother merely earns an exasperated sigh and a fond smile from her only daughter. Other's aren't quite so easily forgiven. Catia is known to hold long grudges, unwilling to forgive past insults until the culprit has made appropriate apologies. Even then, Catia will remain untrusting for a time, forgiving the person, but never forgetting their actions.

Asteria Catarina Noelle Rios, or Catia as she prefers to be known, was the fourth child of Erica and Iago, and the only girl. Brazil, her father's homeland, was her birth place though she only lived in São Paulo for two years before the family moved to the United States. Erica Anaya, Cuban born though Brazilian raised, had made a name for herself as an authority on mythology and ancient literature. It was a job offer she couldn't refuse which saw the family of six relocating north. Iago eventually joined the local law enforcement, and with Erica's salary, the move proved fruitful for the family and they could happily claim to be comfortably middle class.

Childhood for Cat had its ups and downs. She was vibrant and friendly, a winning smile painted across her little face on most occasions. Her older brothers both doted on her and teased her to no end. The teasing usually resulted in a firm telling off from their mother, who did her best to protect Catia from almost everything. In any normal situation, that coddling would have been almost suffocating, yet Catia had been born with a congenital heart defect. It was not life threatening, but had it not been registered and attended to in time things could have ended very differently. As it turned out, Cat's condition was treated and her health none the worse. Yet, Erica even to this day continues to worry, much to Cat's irritation and appreciation. Catia's father never treated her like she might break, and she was always thrilled to join him at the shooting range.

Growing up in the Rios-Anaya household was always interesting. Her older brothers were rowdy and loud, her mother not against raising her voice to be heard, while her father kept a quiet presence. As the youngest and only daughter, Lucia quickly learned that to be heard she had to be firm. Luckily for the girl she was always bullheaded, happy to argue her point no matter how many were against her, and more than happy to jump on her brothers' backs when they wouldn't hear reason. Much to her parents' frustration of course, but what are siblings for if not to argue with?

As high school came and went, Cat had no clue in what direction she wanted to take her life. She was bright enough, and certainly had no trouble getting into university. Yet, though she was happily admitted to university, her first year was spent taking a collection of papers that offered her no clear path to a career. Partying and exploring her new found freedom came first, and it was really only her competitive nature that had her buckling down before exams. That is, until she found a love of law. Her second year of university was much more direct, her papers and future career set. Currently, Catia is still studying towards gaining her law degree, having completed her pre-law undergraduate's degree in history and political science.

Though her parents still live in the same city, Catia lives in a shared apartment and works at a law firm part-time to help supplement rent. Her brothers are frequent visitors, as she is to their homes, and it isn't uncommon to hear the siblings calling across the room in loud Portuguese. Even with all of the siblings now adults Cat's brothers still aren't shy about teasing their baby sister, though thankfully she is plenty able to defend herself as any true lawyer should be able to do.
