So upturned she was, her memories and emotions a scramble...she had fought as long as she could in the city, but then instinct had taken over, and she had forced herself to flee. Faithful to her whistle Rayko had come for her, thankful for it she was as a gut wrenching feeling told the girl she had escaped only moments short of her own demise.
You...have...failed.
The words ripped through her soul, sending another fit of coughs tearing through her. "Damn it...damn it all!" She screamed, falling to her knees, driving her fists into the soft soil beneath her. Eiryn knew that she had nothing...she never had, and she never would. She was a soul without a purpose and yet... "And yet I ran like a sorry coward." She spat the words. Her eyes turned up towards Rayko and she knew it was time to let go. Time to free her soul unto a better world.
It was then that she heard the scream.
The horrific scream of a child sent chills to her core. Before she could even fully process it, Eiryn was already upon her feet, moving hastily towards the sound. There, up ahead lay a tiny house, burned and broken now...and outside knelt a small boy, staring down horrifically at two crumpled bodies before him. A girl a bit older stood behind him, her eyes stained with tears and loud sobs ripping from her lips. Eiryn's heart broke in a moment.
Her stomach turned as she recalled the night she had lost her own parents...she had felt so alone...even if she had caused the flame by her own hand. It was a sort of hollow she had never filled. In an instant she was beside the girl, wrapping her arms around her gently.
These...bloodstained hands...holding a child? The small girl buried her head into the other, staining Eiryn's chest with warm tears. Slowly reaching towards the boy, Eiryn lightly gripped his shoulder. With sad eyes he turned...his young face wearing a strong look of determination and will. His tiny hands curled into fists, and he gazed up at Eiryn...pushing all tears aside. "Please, lady...help us." It was in that moment that Eiryn realized why she had been directed to this wicked place. Squeezing the girl tight with one arm, she reached with the other to gently wipe away a smudge of suet from the boy's cheek.
"You'll be safe now..." Her eyes fell a moment to the other figures. "But its okay to cry." She whispered to him, holding his sister dear, as a whole new case of the girl's sobs erupted into her chest. With that the young boy nodded, and a single tear rolled down his cheek. Then she took his hand and lead him away.
These children were her true chance of redemption. They would give her a reason to live now...a reason to fight and survive. No matter what this war brought about she would protect them, and it would be doing so that Eiryn would dedicate the rest of her willpower too. For no better purpose would she gain in life. And so taking them by the hands she brought them away...never again would any of them look back. No matter what happened, she would teach them to always move forward. Always overcome.

Knowing that even though Tranquil considered her no friend, Lyle still had a hard time leaving her to be finished off by Serith if he chose so. Not an insult to her abilities simply the known fact that Serith was more powerful. When she turned her head for a moment a glance of a human behind the curtain who had just jumped off onto the roof of the castle from the window made her sigh. Making no attempt to pursue she then looked again at the others. "We need to get moving."
