Name
Riley Isis Ruth

Nickname
Riles, Is, Izzy, Rile

Age
17

Ethnicity and Hometown
She's Irish but knows nothing else of her background. She was born in Maryland in America.

Sexuality
Heterosexual

Power
Acid Generation
Riles has the ability to create acid from anything part of her body(mouth, blood, skin). This has no effect on her but on others. She can manipulate the corrosiveness of acid from burning sensations to melting capabilities. She can project acid from her mouth and skin onto another or put it within's someone body(only through physical touch, Acidic Breath)

Limitation:
Riles doesn't know how to control it. Like at all. She tries to keep her emotions in check because she fears that she might hurt someone. There was a time when she killed a human being. He melted so to speak. She can't control how powerful the acid becomes, where it comes from, how long it will last, and how to stop it. All she knows is that she has it and it's never going away.

House
The Charmante House

Appearance
Riles is a very beautiful person though she doesn't really realize it, and if she did she wouldn't boast about it. First let's talk about her hair. She is obviously a ginger. It's a bright orange and sometimes it looks red when the lighting is just right. It's naturally curly and when straightened it would probably back to being curly the next hour or so. Her hair rest right at the start of her waist. Which is the perfect length for her.

Next would be her eyes. Her eyes are are a bright brown. She get's this trait from her mother. Some people like to be typically and say that gingers should have green eyes which isn't always true. There is the occasional brown or blue eyed one. And that happened to be Riles. It actually compliments her hair because the colors compliment each other.

Riles body is actually average for her age. She's tall standing at 5'6 1/2. Give it a couple of months and she would reach 5'7. Her skin is not completely tanned but it sin't pale. I'm just gonna call her light skinned and leave it at that. Her curves are average as well and i'm not going to go into details (just look at the gifs). The clothes she wears are very preppy and girlish. Nothing tom boyish about her really, but she doesn't act like a preppy person. She's normal except for her wardrobe.

Special Marks
Riles has two ear piercings and a belly piercing. Other than that her skin is flawless. Though she is thinking about getting a tattoo on her wrist.

Occupation:
Doesn't have one

Personality

Optimistic | Confident | Innocent | Girlish | Non-Violent | Friendly

Riles is a very positive person. She likes to look on the 'bright side' as some may say. She doesn't see the point in being negative if it just lets others down. It a cruel thing and she hates being cruel to others unless it's needed. She more of a people-pleaser. No this does not mean that she's a goody two shoes and does everything people tell her. She still has a back bone and can stand up for herself. This also doesn't mean that she's always cheery. She doesn't walk around with a smile plastered on her face every second of the day. Though it is often. What i'm trying to say is that when times get rough, Riles always says something to enlighten the mood.

Riley isn't cocky but likes to think highly of herself. More like confidence. She doesn't let anyone bring her down. She hasn't let anyone do that since her sister locked her in the closet. This does not mean that Riley looks down on others. Riley can make friends easily and she rarely has any enemies and when she does, it most likely over something huge. She isn't as forgiving as you might think she is though. She doesn't hold grudges for very long unless you give her a reason not to. Riley relies on trust and honesty and when you don't give that too her, then expect the silent treatment.

If you couldn't tell then i'll tell you. She isn't a big fan of violence. She believes that fights between people are pointless unless it's a life and death situation then by all means she let you do it. She'll even get the rink set up for you to brawl it out. If you fight someone because they stole your girlfriend/boyfriend violence wouldn't be necessary (Though the bitch deserves it). It just complicates things and you make an automatic enemy without even hearing their side of the story.Though this doesn't include arguments. Arguments are needed in life. If there wasn't we would be living in a life of people who agree on anything. we would have been dead a long time ago.

Udder all this happy facade, Riles is capable of being a certified bitch. Do not underestimate her. If she's putting you through hell there is a good ass reason behind in. Remember she doesn't believe in unnecessary violence. But when you start something with her, being happy and giddy is all out the window and being a bad ass hops right in taking over her. There have been a couple of times when she got into fight with people at her old school. Though for a good reason. Riley doesn't hesitate to hurt people. Especially when they hit her first. I expect you to see a fist flying in you're face with at least a ring on it.

History
Riles was born in the USA in Maryland. Her mother gave birth to her when she was 27, which mean she was already financially stable and was married to her father at the age of 26. She lived in a nice house. It was two story and it had 4 bed rooms and 5 bathrooms. It was huge on the inside but it looked normal on the outside. Riles never complained and loved it there. Riles grew up getting what she wanted. I guess you can say she was spoiled but she never let it get to her head. I guess it was because she was their only child at the time. Her parents always wanted to keep her happy and she was. It kind of stuck with her. She overall became a happy person. Not just from her parents spoiled her, but because life was going well. Life was fine.

When she was 1 another child was born. A female to be exact. They named her Cameron and now Riley was a big sister. This was just the piece to the puzzle. Another sister! Who wouldn't be happy. But it would be awhile until they could play with each other though. They were 1 year apart so she had to wait. And she did and when Riles was 10 and Cameron was 9, they played. But Riles noticed something different in Cameron. She didn't know what it was but she wasn't a happy person like she was. She was mean to people she didn't know and laughed about it. Riles tried to persuade her sister not to be mean to the other girls. But Cameron didn't listen and as they grew up together Cameron well, became a bitch. And was still spoiled rotten like Riles.

Cameron liked to play pranks on Riley. I guess you can say that Riley was gullible as a child. She thought that the world was innocent and hand nothing to fear. People were nice and being mean to others was just a myth. How wrong she was. It sad to see yourself fall for every trap your sister put on you. When they were playing truth or dare with a couple of friends over it was her turn. Tying to see cool and fit in with others she picked dare. She was dared to stay in the closet for 10 minutes without the light on. To make sure she wasn't cheating, the unscrewed the light bulb and pushed her in, and locked the door. The sounds of laughing and snickering could be heard but Riles put on the tough girl face and stayed in the closet. Now when it's dark, your mind starts to imagine sounds and faces that aren't really there. That what happened. IT was 5 hours of Riles in the closet cover her eyes and ears trying to block out whatever she thought was out their. When her parents came home after their night out, they found her in the closet soaked in tears with wide eyes. Cameron was confronted and her gave an excuse "I was asleep, I don't know how she got in their." Of course they believed Cameron and when they asked Riley she just crawled away pathetically, back into her room, turned the lights on, and went to sleep.

The day she discovered what she was able to do was when she was 16. Riles brought home a boy she had a crush on for a while, it all went down hill from there. They just kissed. That was it. They kissed. And when they pulled away he was burning. A green substance moved from his lip and devoured his body until nothing was left. Riles just watched in horror and when she heard something shatter behind her she saw her sister Cameron gaping and she looked own and saw she dropped a glass of water. "You just killed him." That was what her sister told him. The sister that was suppose to be nice to her just called her a murder. "No it wasn't like that!" She tried to argued but Cameron just wouldn't listen. "You're a freak! You murdered him! I'm calling the police." This was exactly when she had her first fight. She stopped her sister from getting the phone. When the parents came home Riley immediately told them.

Life was never the same. Her mom freaked out and her dad just didn't talk to her. They agreed to not tell anybody and even lied to the cops. Cameron was sworn to keep her mouth shut and surprisingly she did. She didn't tell anyone. But she did avoid Riley at all cost. School was just something Riley wanted to skip and home was just a place to sleep. She wasn't the happy Riley anymore. She was drained of all emotions except for regret and guilt. They day she got the letter she told her parents and packed her bags and waited for the freshman orientation day. She was leaving this place and started fresh. She was going to learn how to control this ability of hers. Life seemed to be letting up on her.

Family

Theme Song
Butterflies | Zendaya

Wait a minute
Every time you're near
My body's getting reckless
Hope I don't regret this
Wait a minute
The way you make me feel
I can't keep my focus
It's too much to resist

I'm over being under your spell
It keeps blinding me
Was too blind to see, yeah
I'm not the only one that you tell
That I'm the only one

But my heart keeps telling me the perfect lie
You rip me up with every last goodbye
I don't wanna say forever
It's just another now or never
So heart don't let me trust these butterflies
I don't trust these butterflies-flies
'Cause they fool me every time

Wait a minute
You want another try
Like the time befo-ore
Then a million mo-ore
Wait a minute
I'm ready to fly
No need to read your mind
I can read the signs

I'm over being under your spell
It keeps blinding me
Was too blind to see, yeah
I'm not the only one that you tell
That I'm the only one

But my heart keeps telling me the perfect lie
You rip me up with every last goodbye
I don't wanna say forever
It's just another now or never
So heart don't let me trust these butterflies
I don't trust these butterflies-flies
'Cause they fool me every time

You wanna catch me before I'm gone
But I'm already there
Yeah, I'm already there
You wanna stop me from moving on
But I'm already there
Yeah, I'm already there

My heart keeps telling me the perfect lie
You rip me up with every last goodbye
I don't wanna say forever
It's just another now or never
So heart don't let me trust these butterflies
I don't trust these butterflies
I don't trust these butterflies
I don't trust these butterflies-flies
'Cause they fool me every time

Anything Else
CHOCOLATE!

So begins...

Riles released a puff of air that was confined in her cheeks. She was actually here. She would have never thought there were others like her. More or less, a school. Riley always thought that she was the freak. She looked up at the academy, no wait scratch that. It was more of a castle than a building for learning. A bark snapped her out of her gaze and she looked to see that Caramel was already at the doors waiting for her. She rolled her eyes at the golden brown puppy. "Alright I'm coming." Riles said picking up the things she had on the ground and went up to the doors.

As soon as Riley opened the door, Caramel zoomed into the school yipping about, trying to attract everyone's attention. "Why do I get the feeling you're more excited than me?" Riley muttered and continued to walk. I don't know about you but Riley was really hoping their would be this huge sign that said OFFICE. But alas, there wasn't so she had to walk around a bit before she actually found it.

Riley walked in with little Caramel at her heels. Well flats technically speaking. But back to the subject at hand. It didn't take a genius to know who the Principal was in the room. He just emanated power and respect. Having amazing abilities just adds onto it. Well assuming everyone in the school had an ability. Riley decided to go talk to the administrator since the Principal was talking to someone. Moving Caramel with her foot -she was just lying on her feet- she went up to the desk.

"Um, hi. I'm Riley. I'm new here and I need my schedule and dorm room."

The lady looked up from the task that she was doing. "Oh goody! You're the second one in the hour. My do they come fast! What was you're name again?" "Uh, It's Riley Ruth. R-I-L-E-Y and Ruth as in Babe Ruth the baseball player." You have no idea how many times Riley has been asked if she was related to Babe Ruth. If she had a penny for every time she heard that she would probably have bought her own car. "Okay Miss Ruth just sit tight and I'll get your things ready." Riley nodded and set her things down and looked at Caramel with a grin.

"We're finally here."

More freshman student were arriving now and it appeared that there were also a number of senior student coming to greet the new enrolments. A few greeted the headmaster. After weighing the benefits of having her arms free with the risk of leaving her property out in the open Alice quickly dumped her belongings against a wall in the stairwell where others had left their own luggage until they could be taken to their rooms. She returned to Mr Ryan as he was approached by some of the aforementioned senior students.

The headmaster introduced one girl, professional-looking and dark-haired, as Astrid Horn, head girl of Dreist House.

"Hello Headmaster Ryan. How are you?" This was a tall guy with some serious cheek bones, intoduced as Kian McKinley, head boy of Treu House.

The final student, a girl with long light gold-brown hair, was named Annabelle Watson, head girl of Charmante house. "Good morning Headmaster Ryan! and who might this young girl be? She's awfully cute."

"Ta. Your pretty easy on the eyes yourself yourself," Alice smirked, as the headmaster stepped away briefly. She was a bit thrown off by the flurry of introductions; but this is what she got for arriving early. Alice blamed the fact that the cheapest decent flight had just so happened to have also been an early morning one. Having spent her whole life in Britain, except taking a ferry across the channel on vacation, it had been her first plane flight.
"Alice Ender," she added, in answer to Annabelle's question, as Mr Ryan returned with the student who had arrived just after Alice, a red-headed girl with a small dog at her heels.

"Hello..." Alice peered over the red-head's shoulder at the name printed across the top of the enrolment papers she now held. "...Riley Ruth?" Nice to meet ya, Riles."

It was weird thinking that all these new people had powers just like her. Well, not exactly like her, because apparently people like them had all sorts of different powers. Life at this school was bound to be interesting she thought with vague amusement

It was awhile before Riles was handed her dorm room number and a black and orange uniform. Riley looked over the papers and squinted at the name at the top. "The Charmante house. Interesting." Rile folded up the paper enough so it could fit into her jean pocket and picked up her things again. "Hello..." Riley looked up to see that it was the girl before that was with the Principal. "...Riley Ruth?" Nice to meet ya, Riles." Riley was taken aback by the nickname. Though it is once of her nicknames, she just met the girl. It takes a while to get that privilege. "You too. I would love to chat but I think I should be going seeing as my dog is leaving me." She said gesturing to the puppy running out of sight.

With that Riles walked out and immediately saw Caramel jumping up and down on a strangers lap. More or less a guy. Riles gasped and whistled grabbing her dogs attention. What made the situation worst was that Caramel just laid her head down -while still on the strangers lap- and whimpered in protest. This just made the situation even more awkward. Riles looked up at the stranger and actual took a good look at him. Dark brown hair and he had a lean build. Not too buff but definitely not lanky. Snapping out of it Rile looked at his face and was immediately absorbed by his eye color which were a vibrant blue. Then Riley came to a realization.

'I'm checking out a stranger. Oh god.'

"Um, I'm sorry about my dog. She's not usually like this. I guess being in a new place has to do with it.

Jeremiah Raimin

Jeremiah looked up at the girl whos dog had found a spot on his lap. For a minute she didn't notice the dog was gone. Jeremiah took this as a good opportunity to look the dog over. The dog barked but that did not bother him any. Finally the red headed girl walks over "Um, I'm sorry about my dog. She's not usually like this. I guess being in a new place has to do with it." she said. He looked up at her and smiled

"No worries. Your dog seems very friendly and seems to have taken a liking to my lap." He let out a small laugh that if in a crowd would probably been over looked. "Due to your uniform you were given I would assume you in House Charmante. I would like to welcome you to Eltz Academy." His smile came back again for a brief moment. He was wearing his uniform and his coat was buttoned till about the second to last button. He then realize he had been rude asking questions about her without finding out her name. He stood up and placed the dog on the floor next to them. "I'm Jeremiah, I am a second year from House Ruhig. Whats your name?" In the back off his mind he couldn't help but think what was the dogs parentage it obviously had some kind of poodle but other then that who knew. He put out his hand to shake hers if that was something she would do.

He thought about it for a second. Lucy should be up wonder what she was doing. She might be greeting new students but knowing her she was trying to avoid people in the cafeteria. Maybe he would go see her after. Maybe I could this red head Lucy could use more friends.

"No worries. Your dog seems very friendly and seems to have taken a liking to my lap." Riley smiled glad that he wasn't angry with her. You never know what might piss someone off. "Due to your uniform you were given I would assume you in House Charmante. I would like to welcome you to Eltz Academy." Riley looked at the black and orange uniform that she was given and looked at his. They were completely different. Then she registered that he was welcoming her. "It's nice to finally be here." She said 'Especially with others like me.' She thought that part in her head.

"I'm Jeremiah, I am a second year from House Ruhig. Whats your name?" She smiled again but when he stuck out his hand her smile faded. 'Oh no, this is bad.' She mentally gulped and slowly lifted her hand to his. She filled his palm with her own and she hoped that she couldn't feel her shaking. Riley pulled her hand out and put it behind her and coughed awkwardly. "Uh I'm Riley, It's nice to meet you Jeremiah." She rolled on the the balls of her feet not sure what to do next. "Do you think you can show me where the Charmante House is?"

She went to go pick up her bags for the third time today. She was hoping she could just set them down forever. Riley let out a low whistle and Carmael got up and went over to Riley standing next to her. "Lead the way."

It all seemed surreal just the other day he woke up under a tree suffering from dimensional sickness and just having lost his only friend, and brother. Today Vas was ironing his shirt for his first day school in 3 years... or was it 1 year... the fabric of time and space has been ripped just for him to arrive here and only through his brother sacrifice did he make it. The painful memories still fresh on his mind along the urge to curl into the fetal position around his toilet and vomit still plagued him, but he was not about to waste the opportunity given to him by being allowed to attend this academy.

Vas knew that this place was home to people like him, people with abilities beyond their control, and he also knew that everyone here was invited, something he was not. Only by the grace and generosity of the headmaster was he allowed to live and study here, for if not here he would have no place to go.

After putting the finishing touches to his smooth crimson colored collard shirt he gently slid both arms into their respective places being carful not to cause any wrinkles as he tucked the tail into his slacks, then to finish off his attire Vas reached into his closet and removed a grey cotton sweater vest from its hanger and after sliding it over his head and arms he looked into the mirror to inspect himself. "Presentable" he whispered to himself before grabbing his satchel and journal from his desk.

Day 1: Today I start here at Eltz Academy in Moselle valley, Germany. I haven't seen earth people in 3 years and...

Vas stopped writing to contemplate his word choice and after taking ten seconds or so he scratched out the word earth with a single line.

...and I hope today is a good day but for now I'm just incredibly hungry and I wonder if they have soy milk and cereal here.
retracting his pen almost in unison with the growling of his stomach he placed his journal into his satchel and exited his room locking up after himself.

Vas made his way through the hallways of the academy passing by a large crowd of people standing outside what seemed to be the office and witnessing the interaction between a striking young woman with short brown hair and what appeared to be her good friend, a younger looking irishman. Feeling the emotions of sorrow and loneliness begin to creep up on him Vas paid no further attention to the two except to take a second look at the girl, and with that done he continued on in the direction of his nose.

after taking a few wrong turns further down the hallway he witnessed another interaction between two people, a boy and and a girl with a small dog. At this point Vas was just taking in the atmosphere of the castle and people watching but his stomach made another desperate cry for food "Alright I hear you, calm yourself" he said quietly as he continued walking now holding his stomach.

Finally Vas arrived to the cafeteria where he laid his eyes immediately on the fresh fruits, muffins, teas.... but most importantly to him the cereal and milk station. He immediately rushed over and attempting to not draw attention to himself , he prepared two large bowls of cereal and proceeded to drown them in soy milk. After placing his bowls down he went back to grab him a spoon, a blend of breakfast tea and four packets of honey. It was now time to feast and after a quick blessing of gratitude that is exactly what Vas did.
It appeared as if he was enjoying a delicacy and to him, he was. "Three years without you, never again he thought to himself as spoonful by spoonful seemed to disappear.

Halfway through the second bowl Vas looked up and noticed his table wasn't unoccupied two girls that appeared to be around his age were also at this table and had begun what seemed like a conversation just a few seats away. One seemed happy and alive and the other haunted and slightly disturbed but it was none of his business and plus he still had a bowl to finish...

Jeremiah Raimin

Jeremiah thought about it for a moment. Who did he know in House Charmante. That's right he tutored their Head girl a couple times last year. He plotted out a route in his head and then once it was plotted he Smiled at the girl. "Are you ready?" She responed with the "Lead the Way." comment. So he did. They walked and each time they passed something important he would point it out and tell her about it. Other then that though he stayed quiet as he really didn't know her very well and sadly nothing he was saying was really that interesting to him.

Finally after a few minutes they ended up at the dorm area for Charmante. "Here you are. In your class schedule should be a room number with a key to your room." He looked around awkwardly not sure what to say next. "Umm the Cafeteria is fully stocked and almost always open so if your hungry head down their after you drop off your things." He smiled and started to walk away and realized he was being rude again. "Is there anything else you need my help with?" He smiled as he thought would make the situation less odd.

They started their journey to The Charmante Household. Once in a while he would point out something to her and if she was fascinated by it she would stand their for a little longer than necessary then have to catch up with him and Caramel again. This happened around several times before they actually made it to her destination. "Here you are. In your class schedule should be a room number with a key to your room." Sure enough, when Riley looked in her class schedule a silver key fell to the ground only ending up in Caramel's mouth. She rolled her eyes at her dogs need to chew on something. "Umm the Cafeteria is fully stocked and almost always open so if your hungry head down their after you drop off your things." Riley nodded with a smile hinting on her lips. "Is there anything else you need my help with?" Riley shook her head. "No, nothing that I can think of. Thanks for the help." Riley smiled and yanked the key out of Caramel's mouth and opened up the door and stepped in.

Riley went to her dorm number and opened the door. She threw her things on the bed and sighed in relief. It's not like she hated being happy all the time but i's hard when you're itching for a nap. Riley opened her first suitcase and pulled out a various of color clothing. She went over to the closet and was surprised that their was three sets of hangers on the floor. She ripped off their packages and grabbed one and went back over to her clothes, but when she turned around, a certain pooshon (not naming names or anything) had gotten to her clothes first and was currently snuggling up in the soft fabric, probably dozing off. "Oh no she didn't- Caramel!" At the sound of her name being yellde she jumped up and off the bed and ran around in circles for at least 10 seconds straight. Riley rolled her eyes and laughed and continued unpacking.

It didn't take long for Riley to finish unpacking but she finally got done. Everything was where it needed to be and it was down to perfection. Riley opened her room and door and attempted to step out but Caramel bounded past her feet before she could do so. "Alright hold your horses." Then Riles let out a small giggle. "get it horses are animals and you're a- I need friends." Riles concluded and she walked out the house and opened the map that she was given. She navigated and asked a few people where everything was until she finally got to the cafeteria. All thoughts of taking a nap flew out of Riley's mind as she smelled the food. "Let's eat."

Riley was probably standing there in the cafeteria looking like a buffoon for at least 5 minutes just taking in...everything. The smells and the people. It was new and she liked it, a lot. She smiled to herself and people walking by gave her a look like 'Why are you smiling like that...' which she of course ignored. Nothing was going to bring her spirits down. Except, she didn't have a place or people to sit with. Riles pouted a little. This was going to be awkward. Some of the people she recognized from when she came in the academy. She would have sat with Jeremiah but he was sitting with someone else and she did not want to intrude. "How is this going to work." Riles spoke silently then someone walked past her who looked awfully familiar.

Where has she seen her from? Riles racked her brain before i popped up. She was was the girl from the office. She introduced herself. 'What was her name? It wasn't even that long ago!' Riley thought harder and then it came to her. "Alice! That's what it was." She snapped her fingers finally getting it. She was now going to be labeled crazy for shouting someone's name out loud. Just great. Riley smiled in triumph and walked over to the line where Alice was currently residing. "Hey Alice, glad I caught you." That didn't sound as creepy as it did in her head.

Riley looked over the foods that were currently being displayed. She could here her stomach growling. They smelled good. Caramel barked just adding on to her point. Riley got a tray and picked out a chocolate croissant and tea. She was afraid if she got too much she wouldn't be able to finish it and that would be a problem. "So..." Riley trailed off getting Alice's attention once again. "Please tell me you don't know anybody either. Every person I saw had at least one other people with them. Riles pointed out grabbing an apple and putting it on her tray.

"Alice! That's what it was."

Alice looked up at the sound of her name to see a red-head approaching with a small dog on her heels. It was the girl from earlier that morning, Riley Ruth. "Hey Alice, glad I caught you."

"Hi," Alice greeted with an amused smile and made room for Riley joined her in the line. The person behind Alice made some small noise of protest before she threw them a glare, and the two girls continued to move along the food counter unchallenged. Alice ordered her coffee black and, thinking of the bland aeroplane breakfast she'd had several hours ago, grabbed a sandwich and a large chocolate cookie. Keeping food in her stomach would keep her from getting exhausted as fast when pushing her powers.

"So..." Riley continued. "Please tell me you don't know anybody either. Every person I saw had at least one other people with them."

Alice chuckled, "So it seems. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Don't know a soul." She set her tray down at an empty table, took a seat, pushed her jacket sleeves up to her elbows, and proceeded to empty sugar sachets into her coffee. She continued to do this as she glanced up at Riley and nodded towards one of the other seats at the table, "Sit?"

Once she was satisfied that her drink was sweet enough to make a diabetic shudder Alice took a bite of her sandwich, mostly ignoring the furious tail-wagging and beseeching eyes of the dog staring at her. She also ignored the small flare of light in her minds eye.
The lights were a mental metaphor for her awareness of others' pain; surrounded by other people as she was now there was the usual haze of dull lights that symbolised anything from a twisted ankle to a coffee burn. And someone had just started the beginnings of a migraine. Other than glancing almost unconsciously at some of the canteen occupants this awareness didn't show on her face. Choosing not to concentrate on any of the lights the mental image faded from the forefront of her mind.
Alice leant back in her chair, hung an arm over the back, and rested her crossed ankles on another spare seat at the table. "So, Riley, what brings you to Eltz? This place is quite something, ain't it?"

Riley smiled glad that Alice didn't reject her. That would have been super embarrassing and awkward. Riley grabbed one item that she have been craving since she got off that stupid plane, a cookie. And to make it even better. It was huge which made her all the more happy. "So it seems. Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Don't know a soul." Riley refrained from saying 'good' because it might have seemed mean in Alice's ears. Riley nodded instead. They moved away from the display of foods over to a table. I don't know why but Riley hesitated not knowing if Alice would let her sit. It was stupid really. 'Is it just me or do I sound desperate?' Riley thought.

"Sit?" And that's what Riley did. Caramel jumped up and sat on the seat beside her knowing that Riley would get mad if she sat on her lap. Riley hated when Caramel sat on her when she was trying to eat. It took a while but Caramel got the idea. Riley reached for the sugar packets and put a little in her tea and stirred it with a plastic spoon that was residing on the table. Riley took a sip to taste it's sweet level before taking a bite out of her cookie with a satisfactory smile.

"So, Riley, what brings you to Eltz? This place is quite something, ain't it?" Riley frowned a little at her first question. That was a little personal so she sneakily avoided answering and answered the second one. "I'll say, this places is magnificent!" Riley said with a wide gesture to the cafeteria and the people in it. "It's huge and the structure is beautiful. Eltz academy has that old feeling to it but it doesn't look run down. Just like it has a lot of history." Riley sighed in content taking another look at the walls around her. She was going to love it here. "What about you?

"I'll say, this places is magnificent! It's huge and the structure is beautiful. Eltz academy has that old feeling to it but it doesn't look run down. Just like it has a lot of history. What about you?"

"Yeah." Alice raised her eyebrows and glanced around the room mildly. Riley seemed more interested in the academy part of the conversation Alice noticed a little disappointedly. She had begun assuming that everyone at Eltz had powers, and it was such a strange new concept to her. Until she'd found out about Tessa she'd never really considered that there might be many others with abilities. But there were so many people here at the academy and so many more probably out there in the world, she was curious to find out more about others like herself.
Maybe that was faux pas to ask about powers? Or more likely it was just personal. She shrugged mentally, there'd be time enough later to find out the niceties of Eltz society. While she was content with her own company, maybe it was wise not to alienate the first person to give her the time of day. If Riley wasn't going to talk about it Alice wasn't going to pry.

"Yeah, I agree, it's a great place. I'm glad I ended up accepting a place here, I didn't think I would originally, you know? Some secret organisation sends you a letter letting you know that they've been watching you... but this place does seem to have history and everybody appears pretty chill, so it can't be too bad. I suppose it's good to know that there are people who can help us learn more about our... um... well just, to learn more."

Real smooth, Miss Social-butterfly, Alice thought wryly and took another bite of her sandwich a little viciously. Thinking about Tessa was not going to lead to any sort of happy thoughts. And she was trying to avoid making Riley uncomfortable about the topic of powers not leave it hanging unspoken in the air. "Aaanyhow... classes should be interesting."

It was some attempt a rectifying her own pitiful attempt at conversation. She sighed with a resigned smile and reached for her coffee while it was still hot, enjoying the strong sweet dose of caffeine.

One look at Alice's raised eyebrow hinted that Riley's attempt to avoid the first part of the question 'oh so sneakily.' Riley groaned a little knowing that somewhere in the near future it was going to come back and bite her in the ass. Then Alice went into this grand explanation where she probably wouldn't have accepted the letter that stated that they knew who they were and have been watching them for their whole lives. Riley almost laughed at the rambling that Alice just went through. It has happened to Riley one to many times to count. Of course when she was the gullible little child her sister picked on. But it's in the past.

"Aaanyhow... classes should be interesting." Riley went wide eyed because she had heard a rumor about the classes. "Oh, I heard a couple of the upperclassmen where going to be teaching some of the classes. The one I'm really dreading is combat. I don't think that I could handle hurting someone purposely or accidentally. I'm not the violent type. Clearly." Riley said gesturing to her body in a way that proved her point.

Riley went to take another bite of her cookie and was disappointed when she didn't have a cookie in her hand anymore. She had finished it. Riley grumbled and picked up the chocolate croissant. It had chocolate chunks within the bread. Riley only had this treat once and she always wanted to have it again. With one hand she fed herself but with the other one she was rubbing Caramel's head giving her the attention that she was deprived of for awhile now.

"Oh, I heard a couple of the upperclassmen where going to be teaching some of the classes."
That would be interesting, Alice thought. Some of the upperclassman, she was pretty sure, were the same age as her. They'd been at Eltz longer so she guessed they had more training if not experience. She'd had authority issues when teachers had had the advantage of age... -but she was here to learn not cause trouble, she'd be trying to behave which would be a difference from public school. She took another bite of her sandwich and listened as Riley continued.

"The one I'm really dreading is combat. I don't think that I could handle hurting someone purposely or accidentally. I'm not the violent type. Clearly." Riley said gesturing to her body as if that proved her point. Alice followed Riley's gesturing, observing the soft red curls, lean body, and very feminine, very preppy, attire, and found herself agreeing. Looks could be deceiving but if they were anything to go by she would assume that Riley was quite the docile type. Not that 'girly' necessarily meant 'weak'. "Well combat isn't just about hurting people. Like martial arts, it's also about defending yourself. Blocking, deflecting, avoidance. I'm sure they won't throw you in at the deep end," she offered, trying to be comforting.

The two of them must look like complete opposites Alice thought as she considered her own appearances. They were meant to be her defence, to avoid confrontation so that she didn't have to hurt people. Dark rimmed eyes, dark boots, dark jacket, dark jeans, there was a splash of colour with her choice of blouse today but overall her clothes did not shout 'girl scout'. That combined with the aggressive confidence she put into her stride and the trace of various scars on her body... she rubbed the still pink grazes on her knuckles without really thinking... no, if someone was stupid enough to give her trouble she was prepared to give it right back. She had hurt people on purpose and without regret, it was when accidents happened... Alice's stomach clenched, and she was instantly angry with herself for allowing her mind to wander to darker thoughts - which of course meant that on the outside she smiled a little brighter. Maybe she did deceive with her appearances in some ways.

"I'm not too concerned about combat," she said only a little stiffly; then continued a laugh, "I think I'll be more worried if I have to take history class because I know I'm bad at that."

Finishing off the last bite of her sandwich Alice found that her appetite has lessened somewhat. She set aside her cookie and settled for enjoying the rest of her coffee. She looked around the cafeteria and had a thought that brought a smirk to her lips, "So which of them do you reckon is a upperclassman teacher? And do think having a hot one will help you pay attention in class or be the distraction?"

"Well combat isn't just about hurting people. Like martial arts, it's also about defending yourself. Blocking, deflecting, avoidance. I'm sure they won't throw you in at the deep end," Riley nodded in understanding. It made her feel better but not completely. But at least she had a different view on the whole combat thing. 'Okay think of it like defense instead of attacking. I can do that...right?' Riley thought but she was sure she was going to choke when she stepped on the combat mats, Riley gulped and took another bite. Well when the time comes she'll be ready, she hopes.

Then Alice went on about on a joke that she's only worried if their was history class. Riley laughed with her easing up some of the anxiety that was creeping over her body. She did not want to have another accident. Riley looked at her croissant then her tea. Feeling brave she dipped it in then took a bite. It wasn't bad but it did do something to the taste. It had a hint of lemon in. "So which of them do you reckon is a upperclassman teacher? And do think having a hot one will help you pay attention in class or be the distraction?"

Riley choked as someone's name popped up in her head at the mention of hot. She hit her chest a little bit hoping it would go down. Riley smiled sheepishly then took a bite out of her apple almost done with her breakfast. "I have no idea what you are talking about." To add an effect she averted her gaze to her dog who's head was tilted side ways oblivious to what was happening at the moment. Trying to be sly she looked at Alice's smirking face. "No one has caught my eye yet." Riley spoke but on the inside her lie detector was going off. Riley took a look around at the students before turning back to Alice's with a shrug. "Nope sorry. What about you?"

Alice's comment had pretty much the desired effect; she watched with amusement as Riley spluttered and quickly denied any sort of understanding. then guilt or involvement in lewd thoughts. Alice smirked, a raised an eyebrow clearly illustrating her scepticism.

"No one has caught my eye yet." Riley amended after a moment, which just Alice smile more, with an knowing expression."Nope sorry. What about you?"

She regarded Riley for a little longer before deciding to let it go, she didn't stop smirking though. She'd definitely struck a chord of some kind with her question, and Riley's slight blush and flustered response suggested something contradictory to her answer. "Well, I don't know about you, but if I recall the original question correctly, my answer would have to be 'not a clue' and 'distraction'."

She took a smug bite of her cookie, not able to resist the chocolate after all, and admired her evasive answer. Well, technically it wasn't evasive because she'd directly answered the question plus she didn't have anything to be evasive about. Had some caught her eye? She considered this and surveyed the room.

Certainly a few people were easy on the eyes, but no one made her think 'well, damn'. Dating was messy, sometimes it was worth it, but she always appreciated an attractive figure and a sharp wit. The day had barely started and there were heaps of new people to meet, she shrugged.

The cookie had disappeared quite quickly, and Alice licked the last smear of melting chocolate chip off her thumb a little disappointedly.

"So..." Both of them had just about finished there food and beverages. "Now what?"

Riley sighed knowing that she didn't pull the wool over Alice's eyes. She obviously saw threw Riley's babbling. The smirk plastered on Alice's face just said everything. "Well, I don't know about you, but if I recall the original question correctly, my answer would have to be 'not a clue' and 'distraction'." Riley face planted. She completely messed up. She didn't even answer her question. Way to be less suspicious. Riley took a bite out of her apple almost finishing it.

"I heard that this girl named Alwin was teaching a class. And if there was someone who was someone hot in the class they would definitely be a distraction. I wouldn't be able to focus. I would look like a drooling Justin Bieber fan." Riley said putting her finished apple on the plate and taking her last sip of her tea and putting it next to her apple. Riley took another look around breifly then picked up her dog and set her on her lap. She rubbed Caramel's back needing to move her body

"So..." Riley raised her eyebrow. "Now what?" Riley shrugged. "We could wander around and get lost or I could take a nice nap and leave you behind." Riley smiled at the thought. "But i'm not rude so...we can wander or eat some more. I up for anything at the moment."

"We could wander around and get lost or I could take a nice nap and leave you behind. But i'm not rude so...we can wander or eat some more. I up for anything at the moment."

Alice pushed her seat back a little and stretched her arms above her head with a bit of a groan as she loosened the slight stiffness in her back. "If you're tired don't let me keep you. I'm not hungry any more." A nap for herself wasn't a bad idea, but unless she found a couch or something it would require actually making her bed and that seemed more effort than it was worth right now. Besides, she ought to be social on her first day at least, she had all semester to hole up in her room sleeping.

"However," Alice continued "Wandering doesn't sound too bad if you are up for it. What shall it be? Explore the castle, head down to the village, or go back to the office and see what other students have arrived? Up to you, I'm easy."

She put her hands behind her head and looked around the hall, catching sight of a trio gathering near one of the windows; a girl/boy couple approaching another student. A pitying smile graced Alice's lips as she watched the girl extract her hand from her partner's.

"We could even wander over there and interrupt that awkward little interaction," she nodded towards the trio, "Introduce ourselves, relieve tension, and what-not." She shrugged.

Jeremiah Raimin

Jeremiah looked her over after the comment about wanting to take a walk. He then looked around the room and saw why. Many students both new and old were gathering for breakfast in the cafeteria. He looked around looking to see if he saw anyone he knew. There was that Riley girl she was kinda sweet. Then there was a small girl off to the side in the window being talked to by Eleanor, head girl of his house, and Jimmy, nice guy I think. He looked back at Lucy and smiled "Sure let me get some more wake up juice?" He got up to go get himself some more drink on the way back he passed Riley and the other girl. He smiled and stirred his drink but running his finger along the brim of the cup. "Hello again Riley. Find everything alright?" He trned his attention to the other girl and looked her over "Pardon my rudeness. My name is Jeremiah a second year in house Ruhig and you?" He smiled and thought to himself. Am I smiling to much? Should I not be using my power? He decided it was to late to stop now.
