Azuriel awoke, still in a semi drunken state. He was offered a room by the king, but instead, had decided to stay in the barracks, with his soldiers. He rolled over, and grabbed a bucket of cold water. He threw his head in it, then went around, splashing the units who were with him.

"Get up, ya buncha lazy bastards! Grab your shit, and let's go!"

He got outside just in time to catch the last of the speech. "God damn right our time has come." he whispered to himself, joining in with everyone's cheers a moment later. He made his way into the kingdom, to see who was coming with him. Regaurdless of orders, he was headed to fight for Inae. His friends, his hometown, it needed him. That bastard took his family. He saw Ivy, standing behind the balcony. He told his men to wait outside, and he entered the kingdom, and made his way upstairs. One of the kings guard, who had seen him during a rather insane drunken escapade, laughed. "I didn't think you'd make it through to this morning."

Azuriel laughed. "Christ, you know, I was surprised when I woke up in bed, thought it'd be with the bloddy pigs again!" The man doubled over, and Azuriel laughed as he brushed past, making his way to stand next to Ivy behind the balcony. She wasn't much with weapons, but she was a good fighter. "For my own sake, I hope you're with me today." Having a faerie was always helpful. He walked out, needing no introduction. He threw his Axe up, and shouted. "IMPETUS, TO THE DEATH. RRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH" he was renowned for his brutality in combat, as were his men. Some thought they were too harsh, but none doubted their results.

Celestine woke up to her phoenix nibbling her finger.'What the hell..' She thought, as she got up and wiped the dirt off of her leather dress, and looked around.

'Hmph, I wonder why I must camp in places like these.' Celestine thought, and sat there disgusted at the amount of mud around the place she camped. 'This is why I despise traveling.' Celestine scuffed, and started to walk towards the fire to sit down. She watched as her phoenix perched on her shoulder and stayed put, being as loyal as any pet could be. Before Celestine went on her horse to ride away she sat by the fire to nibble on some food. Out of her satchel she grabbed cooked and dried cow meat that she gobbled into. Right after she had some pieces of meat, she handed one more piece to her phoenix, who surprisingly ate it.

Soon Celestine patted out the fire, and got on her horse, ready to travel to the town closest to the castle. Celestine would have been caught by now if people knew she was working for the Demon God, but no one really knew. She wasn't someone the Demon God would brag about. Celestine soon mounted her horse and started for the town.

Azuriel made his way out of the war room, and into the barracks. He would need approxametely 100 men, and of course, 4 capitans. "Broznak, Lyszar, Krieg, Sauro, you're with me today. We make way to reclaim a piece of our homeland! Grab your men and get your gear, we leave now." Azuriel was more than ready for a fight, as were his men. They arrived at the gate, and quickly made their way outside. They didn't immediately meet resistance, which was odd.

"Stay on your toes, men. The road Inae will be difficult."

They walked for around twenty minutes before entering Inae. Something wasn't right, they shouldn't have been able to get into the town that easily. They were planning something, something big. This was, wrong, the whole path, seemed like a crypt. It was quiet, too quiet. The shadows seemed to move, and he felt like he was being watched.

He searched for Elsanna, but was unsuccessful. He quickly sprinted his way to his house, and grabbed a powerful, and ancient weapon, The sword of Karachi.

"Men, we have a choice now. We can return with the knights, or we can stay, and FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM!!!" Regardless, he would be sending one unit with the knights, if they chose to leave, but, knowing Elsanna, they would stay with him and his men. The mill had been overrun, and several were trapped inside. That is where he would start. He wielded both weapons, the sword in his right, and his bloddied Axe in his left. He ordered his men to fight their way to the outskirts, and circle the town. He, Kreig, and five others would be freeing the mill, then the market. They ran to the mill, encountering 10 orcs. 1 lunged at Azuriel with a warhammer, bad mistake. Azuriel ducked to the left, and shoved his sword through the orc, while swinging back and cutting a 2nd orc's head horizontally off, just below his nose. 3, 4, and 5 engaged Kreig. Kreig swung towards the left, but he missed, and recieved a battle-axe trough the top of his head. The other five soldiers he brought attempted to fight back, but they were no match for five orcs. The first attempted to stab 3, and was succesful, but, in his last dying moments, the orc grabbed his hand, broke his arm, took the bone, and shoved it into his heart. The 6th orc engaged Azuriel, swinging an longmace at him, Azuriel ducked, and managed to kick the orc's kneecap, blowing out his leg, before delivering a killing blow. Orc 4, 5 , 7, and 8 engaged to last few of Azuriels men. Azuriel's 2nd and 3rd were completely decimated, beaten to a bloddy pulp with a pair of orcish warhammers before they could even get off a swing. Azuriels' 4th managed to strike down the 4th orc with his greatsword, but was stabbed in the back with a dagger by the 5th orc. He swung back with his sword, and managed to strike the 5th orc before dying, managing to cut him in the face, rendering one of his eyes useless. His eyeball hung out of his face for a moment, before the orc ripped it out, and threw it. Azuriels' last man put up a good fight, but he was no match. He managed to injure the 7th and 8th orc, stabbing each of them in their right leg, before he recieved a longmace to his temple, killing him. Azuriel was alone, fighting 6 orcs, although, three were incapacitated. He went for them first, decapitating 7 with his sword, while 8 had his chin spit up to his nose by his axe. Five swung for Azuriels throat, but he managed to duck the swing, and stab him in the face, but not without a price. The 6th orc kicked him in the back, causing Azuriel to fall forward. The orc, however, was overconfident. He raised his warhammer high over his head, and, before he could react, Azuriel jumped up, and separated his head from his body with his axe. the 9th orc went to stab Azuriel, he rolled to the side, but recieved a medium cut to his shoulder. He parry'd the or's swing attempt, threw his axe into the face of the 10th orc, and put both hands on his sword. It began to glow, and small lightning bolts began to shoot trough the blade. He had no idea what his sword was doing, but it was none of his concern currently. He swung for the orc's torso, but he was blocked. However, some sort of energy flowed through Azuriels' sword, into the orc, killing him.

He had heard the legend, but he never believed it. The sword was said the have the power of the storm god, but he had never believed it. It was said that the one to kill the swords owner would be the new owner, and he must shed blood upon the sword to activate it. That's when he really took notice of the cut on his shoulder, and the fact that he had unknowingly bled on the hilt. This was not his main priority right now though, he had just lost 5 good men, and a captain. He would probably end up folding that unit into the remaining units. It was sad, but in his heart, he knew Kreig would die today, better to die fighting than in bed. He began adressing Elsanna's forces, unsure of whether she still lived.

"TODAY, WE FIGHT FOR OUR HOMELAND! DEATH BEFORE DEFEAT!"

"I believe there is someone else responsible for our defenses and I don't wish to overstep my boundaries. I can however write down in exact detail the best spell to utilize for the defensive crystal and hand it to Xavier. Since this spell is being used on crystals anyone can prepare if if they follow my instructions no matter how weak they are. After I have done this I will set out to scout the enemy. I have a lot of ways I can go about it." She smiled sheepishly and pulled out crystals that were set in silver necklaces. "I already took it upon myself to create you, the queen, and others in command protection necklaces." she fluttered her wings preferring to fly rather than walk over to the king and set them in front of him. "Also it won't take me but a moment to write down the spell, I can give Xavier his charm, the spell and a letter with Vyri's recommendation as I set out to scout our enemies. If you wish for me to do so of course." She dug through her bag again and pulled out a beautiful sapphire necklace that was simple yet elegant. "Also I forgot to have this given to the Queen. It's a gift I had made for her. She has helped me a lot and I wished to thank her."

Xavier Lent

"This rope needs repair, it wont take the strain if we have to launch any of the larger stones." Xavier pointed out the damaged coil rope on the catapult to one of the engineers under his command. The soldier marked the item on his to do list and followed Xavier down the wall of the third level as he made his rounds. Dusk was settling by now, and he was getting exhausted from the constant walking back and forth across the walls to inspect the goings on of the defensive set up. He had already received the kings orders half way through his examination and had to go back to re-align the castle's walls to suit the needs.

This was luckily his last check and afterwards he would be awaiting the arrival of both the Rangers and the soldiers from Inae. He hoped all was well outside the walls, but until news came he would have to sit tight. Moving to the very last installment on the list to check Xavier inspected everything on the catapult from the gears for signs of rust to the ropes for signs of damage, he even did a test fire without ammunition to make sure the whole thing did not simply come apart when needed. Finding nothing out of order he sent the engineer away to prepare the repairs needed and took a well needed sigh of relief. He walked his way down to the front gates where he usually stood on post and sat on a wooden bench where a flask of wine was waiting for him and a small ration of bread. He ate and drank in silence as he stared off at the distance of the plains and forests of Acatia, where it was peaceful except for the demon's camp fires in the distance....

Gorain

"RHUUUAG!" The humans who dared intrude on Gorain's warband were scattering out of his way, fearful of the arc of his bone hammer as it swung and crushed yet another mortals body into the dirt. His sudden reappearance even surprised his own troops, as he had been down by the river in front of his army for quite some time. He only took a small notice of his Lord's spell weaver in the mix of his troops, but he did not care as there were humans in need of bludgeoning. Taking out another with the strike of his Bell Hammer he spooked the rest off with a wave of demon flame from his mouth, setting several trees ablaze and scorching several of the humans, boiling them alive in their metal suits.

After another minute of battle Gorain, the spell weaver, and the rest of his troops had scared off the band of humans while a patch of forest burned down to their East. Gorain was in a rage, and needed another outlet. Luckily there was the spell weaver there who he could target. "YOU! What is your business with my hogs!" He charged up to the female with a deadly gate, looking to be in the mood that he would smash her where she stood if he did not like her answer. His loud voice boomed across the plains even ending up at the castle where it seemed to stir the humans into an unrest.

Just as Gorain was about to knock the female mage out of his sight, the rest of his army arrived at their position in the woods and brought plenty of siege weapons with them, from iron ballistas to hooked siege ladders, and even a Dragon Tongue Mortar which could combine a Pyromancer's magic and mechanical might into a powerful catapult like weapon. Gorain forgot about the mage and turned to his troops, one of whom brought a message to Gorain's ears. "Sir, a battalion of humans have left the castle and have traveled north, we think to bring the rest of their forces from Inae. Some of the demons have also found a small band of archers several miles off the road moving towards Valens."

At this news Gorain was enraged, roaring a battle cry into the night that once again reached the citadel of Castle Valens. He spoke now to all of his troops at once. "We shall stop the humans from regrouping! Assault their front gate! Block the road with barricades and prepare to feast on man-flesh!" His battalions roared as he did and began to chop down trees to bring with them to construct the barricades. After several dozen trees were being carried by his hogs, Gorain led them to the main road infront of Castle Valens.

His orcs set up the logs several hundred meters infront of the main gate and silently constructed walls of logs approximately 3 meters wide and tall, linked together with rope and supported from behind with more logs. Three of these spanned the road, and the hogs hid behind them. All this was done in the dark and as silent as could be so not to alert the humans until well after their completion. As soon as the barricades were complete, Gorain stepped out from behind one with the siege weapons either on the ends and in between, with the dragon mortar hidden far in back. Gorain ignited the mortar with his fire and launched it up at the castle just as the giant iron spears of the ballistas were fired at the castle's second and third layers. The mortar sailed right over a humans head to crash inside the courtyard on the other side of the humans front gate. The war had begun anew.

Xavier Lent

Xavier had been just about to snooze on the bench as he was beyond tired from his examinations. The darkness all looked the same to him, or maybe it was just the back of his eyelids. His sleep would have to wait however, as a bright light suddenly sparked infront of his eyes. A giant fireball was coming right at him from the road infront of the castle. Rolling off the bench the giant sphere of flame nearly missed him as it crashed with a resounding boom in the courtyard, cracking the stone and sending balls of burning slag rolling across the courtyard.

Xavier looked back out at the road half blinded by the fire so he could not see what was attacking them. It did not matter what however, it just mattered that something was. A soldier on a higher level must have seen the attack, as he rang a bell to alert the rest of the castle that it was being sieged. Xavier looked up at the bell just in time to see it's ringer be impaled by an iron barbed ballista javelin. Another javelin hit the third level getting it's tip stuck in the stone wall and knocking some of it loose. Xavier yelled for his troops on the walls to evacuate the lower levels and get the civilians to the upper floors. He sent a runner to the war room where King Valens was surely to be and drew his sword, ready to fight.

"To the walls! Arm the defenses! Fight back!" Charging magic into his hands, Xavier sent a beam of white holy magic out into the blackness, illuminating the barricades and the thousands of orcs behind them. Xavier was taken aback at how many orcs could have snuck up on them so quickly, but already he was formulating a plan.

Zeska had just finished setting up her cover when she felt the trembling of the walls under the attacks of Gorain. Tharul had warned her she was going to need to either, get rid of the king, keep up her innocent act, or she could get her ass to Gorain and help him.

Zeska grudgingly had decided to assist Gorain. Sliding off her brown over-coat revealing her black tunic, she grabbed her swords off the wall display and sprinted down into the cellar. Upon her arrival down there she saw Beske had dug himself a tunnel underneath the city out into the main-road. An evil grin splayed across Zeska's mouth as she pulled up her mouth cover and leaped onto Beske's back. Her long fingers clutching onto his black fur, leaning down to whispered in Elvish to the wolf.

"Beske, we ride out to Gorain. Sniff him out."

With that Beske growled a silent growl, one that made no sound but to Zeska. The sound she heard was a primal cry, Beske wasn't an instrument for stealth so much as Beske was a beast of war. The vibrations from his silent roar reverberated out through the tunnel and out into the other side.

They broke free from the tunnel and were greeted by the hogs. Thousands of hogs. . . Zeska looked around and she could smell Gorain, and she couldn't see him but she knew he must be leading this charge, drawing her swords and summoning upon the powers of dark magic, she sliced through three, four, five, orcs as she ran concealed through the fray.

She needed to find that fool, even if she had to slay his entire army.

(sorry for not being here, mundane things happened.)

At the suddenness of the intrusion, and the news Ivy was shocked. Seeing that the others had their protection crystal she immediately thought of Xavier. She sent Zakia with the king as she put on an invisibility spell and she rushed out with her protection necklace she made for him, flying over all the chaos. Soon she found him easily tracking his soul trail. She appeared in front of him in her humanish disguise. Thrusting the necklace at him she said, "Here put this on now, I must return to the king. Good luck." she said and went invisible again. She searched for her wolfs soul trail and upon finding it went rushing towards her to make it to the king.
Zakia bounded alongside the king, a fearsome snarl on her muzzle. When they approached Xavier, Zakia bumped his hand with her head as if to say she was ready for a fight.
Ivy, sensing now that Zakia was with Xavier doubled back and landed beside the king becoming visible and again wearing her disguise.

Evalina Valens

~Earlier~

Having woken early to hear her father's speech Evalina had been in the courtyard, conversing with various others, far before her father even came out to speak. When the King finally made an appearance, standing above the crowd on a balcony, Evalina cut off her conversation with the soldier she had been speaking to and focused her attention on her father. About ten minutes into the speak she got a strange feeling in her gut and tensed. Looking around, she saw no one watching her and was glad she had chosen to stand on the edge of the crowd as she slipped from the courtyard unnoticed.

After that she headed to the stables, speaking quickly with her horse before saddling both her and her mothers horse. Multiple times she had a stable hand come over and try to help her but she quickly waved them away each time, knowing she’d only be satisfied if she did it herself. After each horse was saddled Evalina went to the kitchens with a saddle bag and had them fill it with dried meat, bread, and some other food. After she had put the saddlebag back in the stables, hidden in her mother’s horses stall along with four full water skins, she went to the blacksmith.

By the time she left the smith’s with the new weapons and armor she had commissioned the sun was starting to set. Heading back to her room she thought about what she would need to pack in her saddle bag. As the rumbling of the attack reached her she had just reached her room. Throwing the door open she spoke orders to her two ladies-in-waiting and their looks of worry and panic turned to their normal smiles, reassured by their ladies unchanged calm demeanor. “Freya, gather my training clothes and a few plain dresses from my chests. Make sure there are some things that would fit my mother and put this with it.” She handed her new armor to the woman before she turned to the other. “Peony, come help me get changed into my usual armor.”

Currently

As her mother burst into Evalina's room two ladies-in-waiting looked up startled from their tasks but then quickly went back to work seeing the queen. "Evalina! Evalina, my child, the Keep is under attack we have to leave." As her mother rushed in and grabbed Evalina’s favorite saddle bag Freya handed her the clothes she had gathered from Evalina's chests. As Peony finished helping her into her armor Evalina smiled at her mother's calmed panic and shook her head. Her mother was full of such contradictions and it never ceased to amuse her. "Come quickly my child, your father and his men are fighting now but he wants us to leave just in case the walls are breached." "Mother please calm down. I already made preparations earlier. Both our horses are saddled and I'm just here to change and pack... though you seem to have already packed for me..." She says with a chuckle. Walking over she took the bow from her mother and strapped it to her back with a quiver filled with arrows. She then grabbed a small leather bag she had also had the smith make her and placed her sword, extra arrows, and a few dozen daggers into it before turning to her mother. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Freya place the rest of the things she had gathered into the saddle bag in the queens hands and nodded."Good, I want both of you to use the servants passages to leave the castle. Take the gold coins I set aside in my jewelry box." She spoke quickly, to her two ladies-in-waiting, knowing they wouldn't argue, before turning to her mother with a smile.Come, let's go."

Gorain

"Move up the field! Shield the Ladders!" Gorain was behind several lines of his troops shouting orders to his hogs. At his commands the front lines of orcs put their shields over top and around a column of hogs carrying ladders. Three of these columns made their way around the barricades towards the walls, and once having reached the outside of the gates the ladders were hoisted up to the top of the walls, iron hooks digging into the stone and puncturing it with the sharp tips to make dislodging them difficult.

At the same time, Gorain heard several of his hogs fall in pain. Turning around he spots another pesky servant of his Lord, Zeska. She was hard to make out because of her magic but Gorain had gotten used to her magic. Growling in frustration at the multitude of distractions Gorain struts his way towards her. He was about to speak when a volley of arrows puncture Gorain's rear lines. Staring off into the dark distance where he thought the arrows had come from Gorain stepped out infront of his hogs just as another volley came right at his chest, forgetting Zeska for the moment.

His troops shrank away from him as he opened his maw and expelled Demon Fire, incinerating the volley in a roar of rage as the fire spewed forth another 20 yards to set the fields ablaze in between him and the treeline, blinding anyone hidden there in the darkness. Turning to look back at his troops he points towards the hogs on the Dragon Mortar. "Shield the Mortar! Turn it around!" Several hogs took their iron tower shields and sat next to the mortar to shield its operators as it turned all the way around to aim at the forest. A pyromancer hog lit the mortar as it fired randomly into the tree line to hopefully hit whoever was firing at them.

Xavier Lent

Xavier ducked down as one of the orc ballista javelins flew right over his head once again. Several of his troops were trying to hide under the lip of the wall when reloading their crossbows. So far most of the bolts had hit the barricades the hogs had set up. On the upper stories the defenses were being used just as planned. The catapults were sending out large boulders towards the attacking army, but they were not yet tuned to be very accurate. Only one in fifteen shots or so hit even close to the hogs, and so far the stones were providing more cover for the hogs than damage.

Xavier charged another bolt of holy magic into his palm and sent it out to punch a small hole in the corner of the left most barricade just as King Valen and his followers were starting to come down the castle walls. He was then surprised of course by Ivy who had seemed to appear right infront of him. She handed him a necklace and vanished once more. Raising an eyebrow at the necklace he put it around his neck and ducks behind the wall again.

King Valen arrived at this moment in the heat of battle, shocking Xavier that he was not with the rest of the royal guard "My liege, I must advise against your presence here." In truth he was glad to have his lord there to fight with him. It was just as lucky that Xavier noticed a distraction at the back of the demonic forces, and could see arrows sticking out of several hogs at the rear. "It seems Holtzmann is getting into the action. I think it is a good time to push back with their leader distracted." Standing up over the wall Xavier lets out a warcry to get his troops attention. "Gather in the courtyard! Tower Shields up front, Paladins in the middle!"

The Garrison Corps was not as well trained as some of the other detachments of soldiers, but they were still a fighting force and could take the frontal assaults of the demons while other troops did the damage. Sending a hand signal to the soldiers on the upper levels he told the few mages in his forces to gather their magic and attack with long range attack. Several dozen different kinds of magical attacks ranging from fireballs to missles made of pure force were launched from the castle walls to destroy the barricades and leave the demon siege weapons mostly defenseless. Xavier gazed over at his King and raised an eyebrow. "My forces in the courtyard will take the first blows, my liege. Command them with the rest of your attack." Staring off across the field at the Greater Demon leading this attack, Xavier could see he was distracted with the rangers..... for now.

Zeska had killed at least thirty orcs, some of the king's rangers and footmen looked at her atop her wolf and they thanked her, calling her a savior, some battalions cheered for her. She would simply nod to them, she didn't like helping the enemy but the hogs were impassible otherwise. She cut her way through even more as she ran, then she saw the sky light up brightly for a moment. The king had joined the fray. She couldn't believe their main leader was in this slaughter.

Beske chomped out, biting an orc in half. Zeska smiled, she enjoyed seeing Beske having fun. Kicking him into action, she was no longer concealing herself, stealth be damned, she was in the middle of a bloodbath. She wanted both sides to know Zeska was here, and she was killing. With a loud Elvish war cry Zeska leaped off of Beske, he leaped over her head pinning two orcs down. Beske was foaming and roaring, he wasn't being silent any longer. His primal cries were cutting through the racket of war.

Under her mask Zeska was grinning like a wild beast, her teeth, pointed like a wolf. Her ears back like horns. Her eyes glowed with her demonic power, granted to her by her lords to give her a insatiable bloodlust, she wanted to kill. She always got such intense pleasure for killing, even if she was an assassin, killing was amazing.

She jumped back onto Beske, blood stained her mouth as Beske sprinted through the path they had paved. They sprinted alright, they were headed for Gorain. Zeska's eyes lit up with a burning fury as she approached the helm of the attack.

Ivy dashed out with the others a grin on her face though she stayed more towards the rear as she had no armor. She was finally taking action instead of just waiting around. Being mindful of the soldiers around her she began throwing fireballs from her left hand at the orcs who had yet to me engaged in melee combat with other soldier. More and more fireballs left her hand heading towards the orcs. Her right hand was moving though and with it the wind. It seemed as the wind itself was attacking the flames behind the orcs trying to urge them towards the orc or if not that put them out. Again she sent Zakia out with the King to help protect him. *We may yet win!* she thought to herself as she watched the battle unfold.

By nightfall Yrael's troops had made it near to the Castle Valens, having broken away from the horde that still held Inea. They had traveled through the day with few rests to ensure their arrival at dawn, however, even from this distance the sounds of a battle could be heard. Yrael frowned. He had not received any order to attack the castle as of yet. Perhaps Gorain had gotten a message to do so. It mattered very little, if there was a battle to be fought, so be it. He urged his Nightmare forward, and ordered his men move faster toward the castle, ignoring the exhaustion from the march thus far.

Within moments he could see the might of Gorain's armies, but the tyrant was facing toward the trees, not the castle. Yrael looked around, unaware of the Rangers hiding in the forest.

The dull, distant pounding of battle echoed throughout the hidden paths in the castle, twisting and distorting into an interesting, almost eager tune. One of the kings servants, stalked through these halls. Havel Oborot, the king's Jester to most.

Havel's eyes had long grown accustom of the dank dark air the filled the spaces between the walls; often he couldn't tell if his eyes were open or closed, save for those rare places with peep holes, but even then most of those were covered. He currently walked the path to the dungeon, where the guards had set their reports on everything from economy to orphans. It was an odd set up and only a few had the know of the matter, and it bothered Havel because it seemed with the more distress the kingdom came under, the more people knew. Twice had he heard the guards murmur about the rumors of hidden corridors in the castle, others about how nothing escaped the watchful eye of those hidden in plain view. They were right, of course -- but to say it aloud breaks the purpose of his task. He did his part and had folks dealt with accordingly--- No, he didn't have them killed, that'd be wasteful. A visit or two in the night tends to keep the hushed whispers nothing but just that.

His lips would curl upward slightly as he waited for the current guard to wander off, before he retrieved the parchment from the concealed two-way cabinet [that the guards left the letters]. His name was Tom Lombard, someone whom Havel didn't particularly care for. The man had a way of pestering prisoners that was arguably more annoying than torture. Never-ending, empty kindness; Always cheerful, always commenting on how it was just another day and soon they'd be released for their crimes. From Havel's own experience as a prisoner it was much more pleasant to suffer and be left alone than constantly pestered by a man who's never had to deal with anything more harsh than a good lashing on the backside. After all, an empty smile was just an empty smile.

Tom soon wandered off, mumbling about how it was it was a good day even though the sky was falling or some garbage. Havel waited a few moments longer, before lifting the greased roller guided hatch that covered the back of the shelf, quickly retrieving its contents and closed the latch as quietly as it had been opened.

The long walk back to his room wasn't eventful, the quiet mutterings that crept through the cut stone walls were nothing worth giving attention to at the moment. His mind was too focused on the bigger issue at hand: the famine. While the war mongers waged their war in such a justly manner, they seemed to forget that the ability to properly swing a sword waned while on an empty stomach. The king had always manged to keep enough food to keep meat on every ones' bones, but it seemed that meat was doing little more than fattening Orcs. A chill ran down Havel's spine and his mood darkened at the thought of those gnashing Hogs...

He opened the large wooden door and was welcomed with a dim fire ember light and the smell of burning herbs. This was home... away from all the mess of the world. His room was far more cluttered than one would expect from an assassin, but every one has their privet side, on one side of the small room sat a table and two chairs, not far off was an old bed suitable for naps if the time was ever found for such things.

After cooing the fire backing to life Havel started going over the reports. To most it would read as nothing more than prisoner identification numbers, or just letters from family members... but this was just another level of defense. He read over the reports.

Kings speech was well received.
Vyri was fulfilling his role.
Azuriel had won last nights drinking contest, as normal.
Messenger eagles had been received and sent
A few shops had closed...but one had changed hands.

Havel's eyebrow raised a little. Property hand overs didn't move so seamless. He put that report aside to read more, nor had it be registered...

More people had come from the country side to either offer aid, or seek sanctuary within the walls.

Havel huffed, that was opposite of aiding in truth; once the food ran out it was a slow death.

Ivy suggested embedding the wall with magic, and proposed that the crystals could be found under the castle...

This could prove to be an issue with stability of the main wall or even suggest tunneling to the enemy engineers... Havel silently made a mental note to mention that to the king.
Not to mention cost and man power. He put that note aside as well.

Gorain, the Tyrrant of Antiquis basically slept outside the gate, at least he was close enough they could keep an eye on them.

He sorted through other reports but didn't come across anything striking, and thus poured himself a small cup of Apricot brandy before he turned back to the parchment which mentioned the shopkeep. A black wolf, large enough to ride... another oddity.

Havel nearly choked on his brandy when reading the description; whom ever bought the place might as well given Havel a bullseye: twin swords, dark clothing, buying with gold and running the store clerk off...

He couldn't help but chuckle a little as he leaned back, sipping down the last of his drink and reading over the description once more, just to make sure he hadn't gone to crazy. He'd go to the king or at least contact him when things calmed down.

The Rangers fell back now at the assault from Yrael's fire and arrows those that were close enough to them to be affected. A few unlucky enough to catch an arrow were taken by their comrades into the deeper woods. Elijin let out another shrill whistle the birds taking off from the attack and flying up after Icarus where they circled a safe distance above. The animals still laid in waiting for anyone to enter the tree line hidden by the undergrowth.

Elijin waved the group engaging Gorains forces to cease and fire the explosive tipped arrows over at the moving shield formation that was coming quickly towards them. The explosives would not be enough to break the shields but they would surely through the enemy off balance causing gaps that more of the arrows could be fired into. The Rangers that had retreated back quickly removed the arrows and patched up their group. Once more they took up firing arrows those that could anyways.

Ivy watched the battle unfold thinking of what to do next. Seeing as the King and his troops were getting bombarded by Javelins and fire she looked around for water. The elements were her specialty after all. "I think I'll better serve as defense in this battle." she said to herself. Seeing Xavier against the wall she ran up to him. "The troops and the king are not going to be able to make it past if we don't do something. I'm thinking a thick water shield would do the trick. I need a large body of water. Also my crystal will provide a lot of the energy I will need to sustain it for this battle but I will still need a little help. I need an energy mage. Can you help me Xavier?" she asked him.

Yrael did as told, fighting off the birds from above and deflecting arrows from the rear. Not all of his army made it, many were taken down by the Rangers' arrows. Yrael left the one squad in the woods and galloped toward Gorain, working through masses of swarming bodies, fighting and struggling. He barely made it to Gorain's side. "What can I help you with?" He asked, looking all around at the battlefield. Humans and Orcs were falling on all sides and fires were burning in random patterns around them.

Walking into what was supposed to be Gorain's camp, Lilith looked around with her eyes narrowed in annoyance. Before she had time to mutter anything about the demon a man stepped out of the trees and up behind her silently. "What is it Orochi?" The man stepped up beside her and spoke quickly, a slight hiss in his voice as there always was. "There is a battle happening outside the castle at the hands of both Yrael and Gorain's men." Without a word Lilith turned and walked back into the trees, Orochi following after her.
Moments later Lilith walked through the battlefield, creating an illusion of blank space around herself and Orochi who was only a step behind her. Looking around it only took Lilith moments to spot Yrael and then Gorain as the mounted fire demon approached him. Narrowing her eyes Lilith smirk slightly and moved in their direction. As she walked she let tendrils of her consciousness brush against the people in her way, human and demon alike, and instilled a strong urge to move out of the way in their minds, clearing a path for Lilith to walk.
As she came up to Gorain and Yrael a sickly sweet smile crossed her face as she dropped her illusion and suddenly appeared before them. Addressing Gorain Lilith skipped forward a step as she spoke. "Hello brother, May I ask why you have deserted your post and disobeyed our Lord's command?" Pausing for a moment she turned her smile onto Yrael but said nothing, knowing for a fact he was not as hot-headed as to disobey the Demon King. Turning her gaze back to Gorain she let her eyes flame with the annoyance and rage she actually felt but kept up her smile, flicking a strand of long brown hair over her shoulder.
