3 important things to know about the character: Lucy is a bit of a worrier; about life; about her friends; about her family. She constantly thinks of all the bad things that can happen in life to her or to those she loves because of this she's always preparing for the worst, always a bit defensive and edgy. She has Generalized Anxiety Disorder, some days it's betters, other times she can be keyed up and unable to relax for weeks, but she still soldiers through each day, hiding her anxiety as best she can because, after all, she's a Gryffindor and she isn't supposed to be anxious or scared all the time. One of the best ways to describe her is that she's a bit awkward, as if she doesn't know the "proper code of conduct" within social groups. She tends to march to the beat of her own drum (much to her parent's dismay) as that sometimes can mean not taking a practical approach to something. She also has the determination of a rock. She'll stick with a task until she sees it fulfilled. She'll practice her magic until she has properly succeeded in wielding it. She'll continue with it all even through watching herself fail hundreds of times.

3+ likes: -feeling the sun
-laying in grass/the outdoors
-flying
-Butter beer
-most of her classes (including, but not limited to) Transfiguration, Divination, Charms, Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, and Defense Against the Dark Arts
-her cat, Puck
-tea
-working with her hands (gardening, knitting, drawing, cooking, etc.)
3+ dislikes:-giving up
-Potions
-History (not just magical history, but all history, she finds it all to be incredibly boring)
-"book-ish homework" (as she calls it, basically homework of memorizing and reading, she prefers homework that you're actually doing something)
-seeing her friends/family suffer in some way or another
-not being able to help
-fish (the food, the animal is alright)
-being manipulated
-when practicality stops her from doing what she wants to do

Amortentia smell: Dirt, freshly baked bread, and lavender
Dirt is a smell she loves, it's partially why she spends so much time outside, but it also brings back the feeling of the sun and grass when she smells it, memories of when she was kid camping with her parents, and the joy she feels while working in her garden. Freshly baked bread reminds her of her Grandmother Molly's kitchen, of bakeries from her trips to London and Diagon Alley, of her own mum's kitchen, or the kitchen at Hogwarts and working with the house elves at night baking bread. Lavender reminds her of her garden back home, but also (for whatever reason that she hasn't discovered yet) of a hopeful future, as well as having her imagine a small, stone cottage in the countryside of England, with a beautiful herb garden all around it and a long dirt road with hardly any neighbors, a picture that has secretly been working towards and wanting when she's older.
Boggarts: Her biggest one is being trapped or unable to move. This boggart could take the form of a cage, of chains or rope that shackle her. This stems of her fear and frustration at not being able to do anything, not being able to help anyone let alone herself. Other forms, however, that the boggart could also take is her parents and closest friends in pain of some kind, this is a lesser fear as she does see it every now and then and has gotten through it little by little, but it still hurts her and these thoughts still produce a lot of worry for her on a day to day basis.
Patronus: She doesn't know yet, being a 4th year student she hasn't been taught at school about it, but she practices on her own (on school grounds of course) in secret. She hasn't been able to quite get the full figure yet, though she's been able to produce a smallish umbrella. She hasn't found the greatest memory yet, but the one that she's content with is any involving her grandparents.
Wand: Alder, Phoenix Feather, 12 1/2 inches, suprisingly swishy, the handle of her wand looks oddly lumpy, but when held by Lucy fits perfects and comfortably in her hand

Biography:

If someone joins as Molly II we can discuss about changing things up here
Lucy is the youngest in her family, her older sister named after her father's mother, Molly. Her father and mother, Percy Weasley and Audrey, are very practical people. Through listening of stories of her father, Lucy has come to realize that after the war he had loosened up quite a bit, though not enough for her. Her father worked with the Ministry as Head of the Department of Magical Transportation, meaning he was always a little strict on his daughters flying brooms around.

The family lived in a wizarding neighborhood in London, close to the ministry for her father's work. Her mother worked in Amanuensis Quills in Diagon Alley. Before she turned eleven and went to Hogwarts, Lucy spent a lot of her time with her mother, usually exploring Diagon Alley and going into the many shops. Some of her favorite places were Ollivander's where she could listen to him tell stories upon stories of the wands there, Eeylops Owl Emporium where they were more than happy to have her help with caring for the animals, and Weasley Wizard Wheezes where she could stay with her Uncle George and help him. Often her mother wouldn't see Lucy for most of the day as her daughter was out exploring or hanging in her favorite shops. Her father often wished, though secretly, that she wouldn't spend so much time with his brother, thinking he would be a bad influence. And in some cases he was right. Lucy, from her Uncle George, had learned the importance of being impractical and being herself. Taking a longer, harder road for the sake of adventure or fun though the road that would have been easier, shorter, and overall smarter to take was different. However, she didn't become completely like her Uncle, she was always a bit to nervous about life to take things quite that far.
Image
Lucy had always been an anxious girl, no one knew exactly why either. She had a comfortable life; strict, but loving parents and family; and yet she would constantly have night terrors, always be looking over her should, always hide underneath furniture or her blanket. Her parents just assumed she was shy or scared of the world and would constantly reassure her that everything was fine that the war was over and danger was gone. It wasn't until she was six, when her Grandmother Molly started having Lucy garden with her, that Lucy showed any signs of changing. Yes, she was still anxious, but gardening somehow seemed to make it easier to hide that fact. Her parents let her start a small "garden" (really a room set aside in the house to act as a greenhouse) and were pleased to see that she was getting over some of her fear. They never knew that it didn't affect her anxiety at all, just how she hid it, however, her sister Molly II (or just "Molly" to Lucy) knew everything. Molly was the only one that Lucy ever told absolutely everything to, all her fears and worries, she never held anything back from her older sister and in turn her sister never betrayed that trust and kept all those secrets between the two. Lucy did have a gaggle of friends that lived on their street, but they would never become as close as Molly was to her. On days that they spent time together, Lucy and her friends would play in parks as witches with sticks they found on the ground, thinking themselves incredibly clever, or at one of their house where they could actually play with some magic, or magical items. However, Lucy's friends were incredibly big risk takers and always had some dangerous scheme or another up their sleeve, Lucy does back out of some, but does go along with some as well. Again her parents never knew about these schemes, only Molly did. Because of this her friends always teased Lucy that she would never make it into Gryffindor if she always backed out of adventure.

When Lucy got her letter, her parents were pleased, not jumping up and down joyful, but pleased all the same. Being a pure-blood it still was not thought of that the children would be squibs. Her parents dropped her and Molly off at the station after buying mostly new items of everything on the list, including a black cat that she named Puck. I say mostly new because while he worked a decent job at the Ministry, they still had nowhere near the money that families like the Malfoy's had. Lucy, though she somewhat protested, sat alone on the train, letting her sister sit with her friends as she was three years older and it would be embarrassing to sit with a first year. Though Lucy wasn't completely alone as she had her own friends sit with her. When she was announced as Gryffindor her friends cheered at having her in their house and were utterly shocked that such a scared little girl could be in the house of the brave, her sister (being a Ravenclaw like their mother) cheered knowing that her sister would do well there, and Lucy was extremely happy to continue the Weasley legacy of Gryffindor for a second then the pressure of being in the house of the brave hit her and she spent most of the night trying to breath normally and look excited and proud.
Image
Over the next three years, Lucy and her old friends kind of drifted apart. They ended up becoming more of the obnoxious, arrogant Gryffindors and that became a little too much for Lucy, plus they never let her live down her old childhood skiddish-ness. However, she found new friends. Some were in Hufflepuff and some were in Ravenclaw. They were an odd bunch of mixed house friends who accepted each other and let secrets stay secrets. Lucy is closer with these friends than she was with her old friends and much more comfortable. They will do small, "crazy" adventure things with Lucy (such as swimming in the lake or flying over the Forbidden Forest), but they don't push her into doing more. They help each other out with homework in the Library and will sometimes sit at each other's house table in the Great Hall. Her friends consist of Arnold (Ravenclaw), Joey (Ravenclaw), Emily (Hufflepuff), Lemoncello "Lem" (Ravenclaw), and Dennis (Gryffindor). They are all in the same grade. Another note to make is that Lucy has never tried out for the quidditch team, though she loves flying, the idea of playing in a sport utterly freaks her out, though her friends over the years have persistently tried to get her to join, so this year would she?

Lucy twiddled her thumbs, squeezed her fingers, wrung her hands, and stared at her lap through the entire speech that the headmaster had given. It had been a hard enough time on Lucy when she first saw that list, all the bad, possible outcomes played out in her head for those people. They're going to be kidnapped. They're going to be tortured. They're going to be killed and their body sent to their parents' doorstep. They're going to be tied up; bruised, cut, and starved; then finished off and their mangled body sent as a message. Their family is going to grieve, then the families going to get kidnapped and have the same thing done to them. And what if it starts happening to people not on the list? These are the thoughts that had been swirling every waking hour since the list had gone up and kept her awake through the night. She had gone a full week without sleeping hardly at all. Her studies for the past week fluxed greatly, her homework improved as that's what she ended up doing all night while worrying, but in class she could hardly keep her eyes open.

Now this.

This stupid announcement that the missing boy, one of the ones on the list, is now unconscious.

What happened to him? Did they torture him? Did they tie him up? Was he there for days on end unable to move?

Dennis sat next to her, her only friend in Gryffindor. Her friends still weren't entirely sure how to handle Lucy when she got like this. They didn't tease her and for that she was grateful and why they were still friends, however they often just left her alone, unsure that they should do anything let alone what it should be. Dennis looked to her every now and then looking as if he wanted to say something, but then turning back to his food.

"You should try eating," Dennis said with his own mouth full, something else she'd been neglecting to do. He pushed a plate of eggs in front of her, something his mum had told him was eat eggs when your stomach is upset, it's protein and 'light', whatever that meant.

Rose continued to stare at the professors' table even after Headmaster Whitaker finished his speech. What she would give to know what they were saying to each other... Rose's name might not have been on the list, but Albus's was, and that was more than enough motivation for her to want to track down whoever made it and make sure they got thrown in the dankest cell of Azkaban. Then again, in her personal opinion, Flint deserved whatever he got and it could easily be a coincidence that his name was even on that list, considering how long it was. Bulstrode probably fell asleep somewhere with a face full of treacle tart or snuck into the Forbidden Forest just to get attention.

Eventually, with a huff, Rose turned to the food that had filled the tables and started piling her plate with eggs and fruit. Who exactly was she supposed to be dragging with her everywhere now? If she had her way, she'd glue Hugo and Albus to her hips until the whole ordeal was over, but with Hugo being in a different house it wasn't likely to be a reliable solution. Latching on to Albus as she often did wasn't sufficient either, since that would put their group up to a total of two, and she wasn't particularly keen on spending all her time around Malfoy.

Her eyes scanned the Slytherin table while she ate. Perhaps she should group with some of the other Quidditch players. Her eyes fell on Ash Mahoney, the one closest to her, but she soon looked back to her meal. Ash had quite the reputation, and though Rose hesitated to believe most of the things she heard, they still weren't friends despite being in quite a few of the same organizations, and sharing a room. She was pretty sure the girl disliked her in any case, which didn't bother Rose much, but also didn't make for great 'buddy' conditions.

No, it looked like she'd just have to find groups in a case by case basis. Since she wanted to go to the library after breakfast, she needed to find others who might be doing the same. The Slytherin girl stretched her neck to seek out each of her relatives, now glad there were so many. Lucy had plenty of friends and would probably be going with them somewhere, same with Molly. The last thing Roxanne would want to do on a weekend would be hole up in the library. Maybe Dominique would go with her. If it came down to it, Rose decided, she'd just quietly tag along with some Ravenclaws.

Dennis started to chatter, something he usually did when Lucy became too quiet; silences unsettled him. She hardly paid attention to what he was saying, but she knew he was talking about Dueling Club, a club he joined only last year and had become his obsession since. Instead, between small bites of egg, she looked over the Great Hall at her cousins. Her worrying had taken on a more focused turn to her family. She noticed Rose and Dominique right away at the Slytherin table as Dominique was one of the few people standing while breakfast was still going on. She tried to wonder what they were talking about, hoping beyond hope that maybe they would group up together.

From their family reunions, Lucy knew that Dominique wasn't the most sociable with the family, though the two talked sometimes because Uncle George had a way of attracting the youngsters of their family. Even still, Lucy was worried she wouldn't be able to find a group big enough.

"Hey Dennis, Lucy," a voice came from behind. Lucy looked up and saw Lem, a gangly girl with a mousy face, who was also unusually proud of that fact. she was with Arnold and Joey, "Do you guys want to come to the library and study with us?"

"Not really," Dennis said, "I'll do my homework tonight, I'd rather-"

"Go hang out with the Dueling Club?" Arnold interrupted. Dennis gave a cheeky smile before grabbing his plate and moving down the Gryffindor table.

"What about you Lucy?"

"No, I'm okay," Lucy said turning back to her food.

"Yeah, see I just don't believe you," Arnold said, "After this past week I have a feeling your grades aren't what they should be." Arnold was kind of the sassy one of the group, very smart and observant, yet had a bit of a mouth on him. He nodded to Joey and the two grabbed Lucy by her elbows, pulling her gently and yet forcefully out of her chair. Lucy was a bit too shocked to really protest, she was just trying to keep her balance.

Dominique merely coughed. Either the Slytherin did not have a comeback, or she had no desire to fight back. Noticing the smirk on her cousin's face, it gave her assurance that she had done another job well done. Her blue orbs narrowed as the girl spoke. No way in hell would Dominique ever want to hang out with her, even if it was just going to the library with her.

"Bloody hell, I can hardly get enough sleep now," she said amusingly. She knew that Rose had done very well on her O.W.L.s, probably because her mother is a bright witch. Her father, mother, and Victoire were academically excellent. She didn't want to mess things up now.

Dominique crossed her arms, waiting patiently as her cousin cleared up her stuff. Rose's bored tone towards the girl made her feel satisfied. It was like eating a good filet mignon after a hard day's work. She still wasn't pleased to have a stranger around her though.

As they began walking to the Hufflepuff table. She leaned over, elegantly moving her blonde hair to the side. "I really dislike her you know," she whispers in an agitated tone. "She's a little putain." There was a good reason why she threw in a french word, so no one would understand what she said. This worked on most Hogwarts students.

Dominique stood a few feet back as she watched her cousin skip over to the Hufflepuff table. Her eyes set on Lysander, a small smile forming on her lips. Her eyes then set on his twin Lorcan, who shared the same appearance as his brother. "If you want, of course," she added on, shrugging he shoulders.

She looked over to the Gryffindor table, noticing Lucy being pulled up by her friends. The two hadn't spoken in a while and she wondered if the girl would be willing to help her in her next prank. They were currently not on the best terms, but Dominique was determined to make her brave again.

Cullen watched as everyone started to form groups. He was surprised at how easily seemed to be creating groups. That was a good sign for them. He smile and even toyed with a spoon in his tea, something he liked to do manually. Even the trouble making slytherin girl had found a group to tag along with. Good for her. Not so good for Cullen it seemed. He had been so focused on everyone else that he found he didn't have anyone to group up with. Ooops. That hadn't happened before. Usually he had people to travel with. They were usually other Prefects but they had all already attached themselves to some of the younger students. He sat up and finished the tea in his cup before pushing his dishes away. It was time to think about who he was actually going to group with.

He happened to glance up and saw Lysander looking at him. A light blush tinged his cheeks. How long had been the other Prefect staring at him? He offered a little smile and waved back at the man. Lysander seemed to have quite a fan group, including him. The two of them were friends and they had often insinuated things but they had never actually taken any steps to make an official type of relationship. It did make things a bit exciting since they didn't know where they stood around each other. Were they just friends or were they actually an odd sort of couple? He did want an answer but he was... he was slightly afraid what that answer would be. Of course the flirting had just been a fleeting, passing, bit of fun. Was that all this was now? Cullen wasn't sure if that was true for him anymore. He straightened a little at his seat when he saw the man get up from his bench, still looking at him. But then... the group of girls he had been watching had approached the brothers and it looked like Lysander was going to go with them. He deflated a little but he didn't let it show on his face. It was better this way. They needed more protection than he did. He'd just... meet up with Lysander later.

Cullen got up from his seat and glance around and his eyes fell on Lucy. Oh. He hadn't noticed that she was still alone. Her friends were trying to get her to go somewhere but she had remained in her seat. He would hang out with her then. He was sure that they could pick up a few other individuals as well. He smiled as he approached Lucy. He gave a wave when she looked up and sat down beside her.

"Hey, Lucy," he called, "How is it going? You have any plans to go anywhere? I figured I'd partner up with you," he grinned and gave her a wink.

"Hey, Lucy," Cullen called coming up to Lucy from her right, "How is it going? You have any plans to go anywhere? I figured I'd partner up with you," he grinned and gave her a wink.

Dennis and Arnold let go of Lucy. Her friends hadn't really ever seen her with Cullen. A little every now and then in the distance as he helped her with homework, but they just thought it was a tutoring thing, not friendly winking at each other. Dennis gaped a little at Lucy as Arnold pulled him away, Lem following behind them quietly and oddly chipper. An older guy seeming to be flirting with Lucy?!

Lucy sighed and straightened herself. "You just saved me from going to the library," she said. She had half a mind to make a sweeping bow and profess that she was now in his debt, however there were too many people around currently. "I wouldn't mind going to the Quidditch lockers and seeing there are any brooms available. After all this talk and...everything...I'd like to fly for a bit." She looked at the ground. Her mind needed some peace, especially since she was able to get it through sleep for a while now. Her mind was just running so much that it was tired and a hurting a bit, quiet is what she needed and there was no kind of quiet as when she flew. No thoughts, no memories, just silence as she looked at the world below her and the wind envelope her. "Then maybe I can get some home work done," at this she lifted her chin a little and smiled at Cullen knowing he'd be pleased to hear her getting her work done and learning for once instead of putting it off.

"We still need another person though," she said, "I don't think they'll let us fly around, let alone walk there, without someone," her eyes flicked to the professors' table then around the hall. She knew she could ask one of her friends, but it seemed that they had scattered off, most likely to the library. She imagined Dennis and Arnold spreading the news that Cullen winked at her. They pretty much knew he was only interested in guys, but that didn't make this act of flirting any less exciting for the fourth years.

Lucy's eyes briefly spotted the Slytherin Ash. She was about the only student, outside of her family, in Slytherin that Lucy knew about and only from rumors and Quidditch games. Lucy bit her lip, she didn't really like this girl, or figured she wouldn't rather, but she didn't really think they had a lot of choices as people were starting to leave with groups already made.

"Should we ask?" Lucy asked Cullen, not taking her eyes off Ash and biting her lip further.

"I saved you from going to the library?" Cullen asked and gave a mock wounded look and touched his chest as if Lucy had stabbed him. He loved the library. How could she say that she was using him to avoid the library? There was just so many things to learn there! And the variety of books... he still had that desire to read every single one of those book. He was making good progress to. Yes, yes he was a book worm. He would never deny it. Regardless, he gave Lucy a smile. He had grown attached to the little Gryffindor and she was like a little sister he never had. He was happy that he ended up accompanying her so he could keep a watchful eye on her. He didn't want anything to happen to her, list or no.

"The Quidditch lockers? All right. I don't mind heading over there with you. I am not as great at flying as you are but if you slow down for me, I'll be more than happy to cruise around with you," he said then. "I think flying would be good to clear both of our heads. And of course, I agree on that second notion of doing homework afterward. Got to make sure you keep your grades up," he said and leaned back to stretch himself out a bit. He ran a hand through his hair as he debated their next course of action. Lucy was right after all. It was just the two of them. They needed at least one more person. And like he had seen before, Ash might need a group to. He glanced over at Ash who had been trying to tag-along with a group of other people. He sighed. So it looked like he was going to have to group up with her after all. He saw her pull out a book and then the saw Dominque exclaim something about that book that had been missing for ages. Well, this might get sticky soon.

"Let's go," he said to Lucy then and got up to his feet.

Cullen hurried over to the group and crossed his arms. He glanced around at the group and gave a nod. "Good morning everyone." Then he turned to looked directly at Ash. "Hello, Ash," he greeted. "If you aren't actually busy, I was wondering if you'd like to be our third person. Lucy and I were going to go to the Quidditch lockers to pick up some brooms to go flying. Since I did get the tail end of your conversation, I hear that you have a book to return. If you like, we can accompany you to the library to return it before we head out," he offered.

Rose couldn't help it, she tried to suppress laughter at her cousin's words but ended up snorting quietly. "Isn't that what most people say about you?" After that whisper, though, there was no more time to respond, because they'd reached the Scamanders.

The way Lorcan looked at Dominique made her wonder if he knew about her little crush on his brother. The corner of her lips turned up, her smirk stretching at the thought. Lysander's response, however, wiped her smirk away. She almost groaned, but managed to contain herself. N.E.W.T.s were definitely not something she was looking forward to, and suddenly she was glad she was only a little 6th year. If she thought O.W.L.s were bad... the poor girl was pretty sure she'd only be sleeping once or twice a week next year. "So glad I don't have to do that," she sang quietly, hopping off the table.

She didn't get very far before having to stop again, because she almost ran right into Ash's outstretched arm. She didn't wish anything especially awful on the girl, but she wasn't about to stop her from leaving the group if she wanted. It wasn't like they were friends. Half the time she was pretty sure the other Slytherin purposely forgot her name, despite consistently having to work together at Quidditch practice since they were both beater. So, the closest she came to protesting was a sigh and a, "Try not to get yourself zapped into a coma, okay?"

Then Cullen showed up, with another of her cousins at his side. Rose was always uncomfortable around Lucy, and authority figures were, in general, not folks she felt the need to hang around. Cullen wasn't altogether distasteful, but he was strict, and put together with Lucy's everyday demeanor and Ash's... everything- well, Rose was feeling less and less comfortable with the company. "Morning," she responded in a mockingly chipper tone that wasn't completely purposeful, then smiled innocently up at the Ravenclaw prefect. "We were actually about to accompany Ash to the library ourselves, when she said she needed to go to the dorm instead. We're perfectly capable of returning the book for her. No charge." Her smirk was back, as was her signature attitude-filled tone. "How good of your to escort her wherever she needs." With a suggestive jump of her eyebrows and a quick shrug of both shoulders, Rose then edged around the smaller group.

Once they were walking again, Rose looked down at Dominique's hands. One eyebrow arched over the other, and she laughed, shaking her head. The girl glanced around at the boys and gently elbowed her cousin to get her attention. "Ten Sickles says Mahoney steals that book again by the end of the day," she half joked on their way out the Great Hall doors.

"Ah," She hadn't anticipated anyone would know that from a glance. Was Ronnie's cousin secretly a total nerd? This warranted investigation never. "I actually found that in the girl's bathroom," she lied, the falsehoods flowing like water.

Fortunately for her, however, Blondy or whatever his name was appeared to ask her along as his third, and Rena was eager to push her off on the blonde boy and his tiny companion. She was honestly impressed how quickly she'd been discarded, not even her mother was that fast, and look at that, there Ramona went, not even waiting to see if she was followed. Ash decided she'd try to memorize her name as she felt what she imagined was that thing called "respect" boil up within her breast.

"Actually, quidditch lockers sound good," she said as soon as the others had walked off, still a bit impressed by her fellow Slytherin's mad shade skills. She tore her eyes from the door of the great hall to look at the boy. "Who are you again?"

Dominique seemed uninterested in the conversation. She was focused on the Ravenclaw prefect and Lucy. A part of her wanted to go up and punch his face; the other wanted to shrivel up and die. The girl narrowed her eyes, bouncing the book in her arms. "Riight," her tone was awkward. She brushed her blonde hair back and looked over at the Slytherin, "And I'm the Queen of England trapped in a teenage witch's body. Oh how tragic." Her tone was un amused and sarcastic. No way would she let anyone know about her love for books.

She walked along beside her older cousin. Her complexion looked pale as she turned to her cousin, "I wouldn't be surprised, but I don't have ten Sickles," she shrugged with a frown, "I lost a bet over who could stuff more chocolate frogs in their mouth. She was a little ashamed, because she knew she could do better, but her mind wandered to how Lysander was looking at Cullen. She was jealous, but the blonde beauty refused to admit it.

The brothers both exchanged glances at the rather worn book the Slytherine girl handed over to Dominique. They didn't really know Ash that well, though this didn't seem to far out of line for the girl judging by what they've heard. The book was worn, and ragged, and as Dominique had pointed out it's been missing from the library for quite sometime. Somehow they found themselves not believing her story about finding this book in the girl's bathroom, though neither brother felt the need to open their mouths.

Lysander slightly as Cullen approached them with Lucy following quickly behind. Lorcan simply gave a small smile. It was no secret how much Lorcan approved of Cullen. Lorcan had often tried to encourage his brother to speak to the boy, though surrounded by all these people Lorcan said nothing. Lorcan would've much preferred to tag along with them to the quidditch lockers and get himself into the air, but considering his brother's aversion to the sky he figured that would not be a good idea.

Soon they made their way out of the Great Hall Though Lysander remained at ease for the most part he was his normal quiet self. Lorcan chuckeled slightly t Rose's comment."I'll take that bet." He spoke in a friendly jovial tone.

Scorpius listened with half an ear as the headmaster did his best to assuage worry and to mandate the new rules that would hopefully keep them all safe. As a prefect he should’ve been listening, as a student in general and most definitely as someone whose name was on the dreaded list. Yet his thoughts were muddled by the correspondence that had cropped up between him and his parents when this mess began. His mother, though never overtly affectionate, was concerned for her only child. She wanted Draco to bring their son back home until this mess was sorted. In a situation such as this his parents usually agreed. This was not one of those situations. His father was adamant that Scorpius stayed right where he was, do his duty to his school and to remain ever vigilant. There would be no weakness on any front from any of the Malfoys.

With a small sigh he dropped his cutlery onto his plate of half finished food and scrubbed a hand through his pale hair. It was a habit that belied his anxiety to the outside world if they watched closely enough. Glancing around Scorpius was quick to note everyone rapidly splintering into groups. If he didn’t latch onto someone now he’d be left in the great hall. Merlin’s breath, he’d rather not get stuck in another conversation about turn of the century methods of divination involving chicken bones and entrails. Grimacing at the thought Scorpius spared a glance at Professor Trelawney before springing into action.

Rising to his feet, he quickly took note of the group containing the Scamander Twins and Rose, the closest thing he had to friends. Squaring his shoulders Scorpius let his long legs eat up the distance between and the fairly sizeable crowd as they moved away from the great hall. He didn’t want to appear too eager and did his very best to seem at ease, a well practiced grin sliding across his face as he fell into step.

“Ooh, what are we betting on? Are the odds in my favor?” Scorpius asked cheekily, raising his eyebrows in mock shock.

Lucy wasn't overly surprised at her cousins not really noticing her. By now she expected that, she was after all smaller than the other physically, meeker than everyone else, not really important in any way. Why would they pay attention? They have people their own size and, in Dominique's case, a crush to focus on.

So Lucy just stayed quiet while the older students talked things out. She knew, and she was always very grateful for this, that Cullen would stay with her, so there was no need for her to attempt to fit in with the older crowd by raising her voice.

She was also surprised that Ash wanted to go with them.

Sure her cousin Rose wasn't really making it easy for Ash to go with them, but still. Most people found it incredibly boring to just kind of fly around the ground instead of playing quidditch and it was quite obvious they didn't have enough players for even one team.

As they started to leave the Great Hall, Ash turned to Cullen.

"Who are you again?"

Lucy bit her bottom lip, trying not to laugh. It wasn't necessarily that she was laughing at Ash for not knowing who Cullen was, but rather that she agreed to go with a group when she didn't know. This just seemed to be so funny for Lucy. She didn't notice either, but a small giggle did escape her. Then a question popped into her head. Ash seemed to be focusing on Cullen more than her so she didn't really want to interrupt, but it was something she was working on. Speaking up and being brave, that is.

"I know there wasn't much choice with Rose pushing you off like that, but why would agree to come with us? You don't even know us?" She was genuinely curious because going off with strangers with barely a second thought was just so mind-blowing to Lucy. It didn't even seem like Ash had thought it through completely before giving them an answer, she just jumped right in. She seems to be more of a Gryffindor than me, she thought, working hard to keep eye-contact with the older Slytherin.

So it seemed like Ash was going to come with them after all. It was nice of the other girls to take the book Ash wanted to return to the library for her. They didn't seem to much care where Ash went and that was both a good and bad thing. He was sure Ash preferred things that way but when it came down to it, it did not look like the girl had many friends. He hoped that she did find a way to open up more and become friends with others, especially those in her own house. Oh well. At least she was coming with them so now they had a trio at least. And this way he could take care of both girls should anything out of the ordinary occur. He would have to make sure that Lucy and Ash got along though. He wasn't sure how Ash acted in social situations really. He had only ever had to deal with her when he had to stop fights.

Cullen turned his gaze over at Lysander for a moment and offered the other male a smile and a wink. He did wish they were hanging out but he was sure they'd find a way to group up some other time. They did have prefect duties after all. He would mis their alone time though they didn't really do anything out of the ordinary when they were together. He turned his attention back to his little group and started to walk towards the field lockers with the girls in toe. That is when Ash spoke up and asked him who he was. Oh, right. He did forget to introduce himself hadn't he? He turned back to her and smiled.

"Sorry about that. My name is Cullen. It is nice to meet you."

And then Lucy piped up. She had an excellent question. Why did Ash agree to come with them? They were strangers. He was sure that Lucy did not interact with Ash either. Maybe she was trying to get out of a bad situation or something. "Were they bullying you or something?" he asked then. "There was a lot of conversation over a book you were reading."

Ash spun slowly on her heel to face the younger girl directly, a bit surprised that she had spoken to her but not letting it show on her face. "You'd be surprised how low some people will stoop to save face," she said matter-of-factly, giving Cubert an off-hand thumbs up when he gave his name. (Wait, no, his name was Cullen. Cullen.) "And who says I don't know Golden Boy over here? He's a prefect, I'm the Dark Lord Rising, allegedly. We clash all the time."

She actually didn't think she'd spoken to him all that often, but the few times she could remember he'd been a bit cross with her, usually about how she'd chosen to deal with those who had dared cross the other members of her house.

"Slytherins don't get bullied," she replied, first keeping pace with the Ravenclaw prefect before falling back a step when she remembered the kid's shorter legs. The kid who she also realized hadn't yet introduced herself. "They were just praising me for my initiative in returning a lost book," she continued easily. "I would've gone with them to return the book myself, but like I said, I forgot to get something that doesn't exist. Namely the fees attached to it. Whoops."

"Speakin' of names, you've yet to give yours," She turns again to look at the fourth year, walking backwards as she speaks. Ash didn't feel the need to giver her own name, being fairly satisfied that these two already knew who she was, else they wouldn't have approached her.

Lucy couldn't help but giggle at thinking of her cousin praising Ash, especially after over hearing them talk about her at reunions.

"I doubt that Rose and Dominique don't praise anyone!" Lucy said, hiding her smile behind her hand, then extending it to the Slytherin, "My name is Lucy." She was trying her best to hide her, not-so-surprised, thoughts about Ash's comment about stooping low to save face, but it was hard, so to ignore them better she attempted to keep a conversation going, something she usually didn't do, but she had decided to face the world today and so that meant giving it her all and not backing down from that decision. Not letting her fears get the better of her.

"What was the book about? Something interesting I'd guess since you had it so long," Lucy said. One thing she had learned from Cullen was how to get someone talking about books and that getting them started would mean a hard time stopping them. She was worried that, however, it was just Cullen who did that and that she had it all wrong; making the conversation die out too quickly.

She held her breath and kept walking, they were almost to the Quidditch lockers now, so she kept reminding herself that the silence wouldn't be long before she would be up in the free air flying.

Cullen smiled softly at the two girls that were walking side by side. Maybe this was a good thing for the both of them. Ash needed some more friends, even if they weren't part of her house. She needed someone who was going to stick up for her when she needed it and maybe if she had someone she could count on, she wouldn't seem so reclusive and strange to the others. He knew that her 'next Dark Lord' business wasn't true. He had seen her interact with the others. She was defensive. It was a front. She was trying to protect herself and appear tougher than she was. She had a lot of spunk and talent. She just needed a bit of compassion thrown her way and a friend.

On the other hand, there was Lucy. Lucy also needed more true friends. Her other friends weren't quite as good for her as he had hoped. She was studious at least and with Ash around, maybe she'd realize that there was a true Gryffindor in her blood. He could see it when she interacted with others but she let her limitations get in the way. Ash was going to force her out of her comfort zone. Yes, they could be great influences on each other. There were going to be fights but in the end he hoped they would become good friends. And maybe he could help influence Ash as well to help her in the long run. She already liked reading so that was one good thing.

"Yes, yes, the Dark Lord Rising and I have had couple of encounters," he mused at Ash's comment. "I to am quite interested in what you were reading. If you have had it for so long, I can only assume it is a book I haven't had the pleasure of reading yet. Is it a spell book?" he added. "And we have arrived!" Cullen leaned against the lockers. "I bet the two of you are going to have quite a bit of fun flying. I have seen you both while you were in the air. You're both so good. Flying is not one of my strong suits," he chuckled. "You two are going to leave me in the dust!" He grabbed the standard broom he had and let his hands run over it. Last time he was on a broom, he had gotten distracted and flew right into a tree. It was one of his more abashing moments; especially since he had gotten distracted by another certain prefect and had fallen to the ground near Lysander. "Do you two want to race or just fly around the castle?" he asked then.

"I told you, I found it," Ash replied curtly. "And no, it was about snakes. Magic snakes, basilisks, amphitheres, tsuchinoko, hoop snakes, Nidhogg. That kind of thing. It was mostly just conjecture on muggle mythology and how they might translate into legitimate magical creatures. The author claimed muggle mythology was the best route to finding magical serpents, since snakes in general tend to be shy and difficult to find if you don't know where to look. I mean, there was a basilisk within the Hogwarts plumbing system for literal centuries with no one knowing. It also talked about dragons for a bit, and how they might relate."

She coughed awkwardly and scratched the back of her head. She really hadn't intended to speak that much on the matter, but once she'd opened her mouth it had all come tumbling out in a rapid, barely decipherable mess. Luckily, their arrival at the Quidditch lockers was enough to distract from her slip.

She ignored Cullen's attempts at self-deprecation and hopped over to the lockers near the back corner, where she'd kept her broom the past couple of years before finally making the team. It had been a close thing, but it had been so, so satisfying when she finally managed to pull ahead of the usual rabble who applied each year. She'd never admit it, would keep it hidden deep down in the depths of her mind forever, but there had been some level of relief at finally being accepted into something since coming to Hogwarts. Yes, there was the Magical Creature's Club, but that was a small club, and they probably hadn't had the option of rejecting anyone at the time she'd joined.

Her old, splintery broom in hand, she did an about face and walked back toward the door. "Alright, who wants to see how flying's done?"
