Image3 important things to know about the character:

*Scorpius would prefer to fade into the background but being the son of Draco Malfoy made that a significant challenge. In an effort to save face and to live up to his father’s high expectation Scorpius throws up a happy facade and does his best to exceed them.

* Secretly hoped to be placed in Ravenclaw.

* Desperately wants to find a place he belongs, people who he can be his true self with. If he even remembers who that is anymore.

likes: Winter - Tea - Old Books - Potions - Cats - The Piano - Flirting
dislikes: His Parents - Public Speaking - Early Mornings - Not Being In Control - Sharing a Bathroom

What does amortentia smell like to your character, and why?: Jasmine and Fire.

What do boggarts represent themselves to your character as, and why?: Scorpius’ boggart takes the form of an older version of himself. To most it would seem essentially harmless but Scorpius is well aware of what it means. His greatest fear is to become his father, closed off, emotionally distant and disapproving. Although his boggart looks like a successful older Scorpius it is also apparent that he is painfully alone. He truly fears that if he never stops playing the part his family and Hogwarts expect him to he will become what he fears the most.

Can your character produce a patronus? If not, is there a reason for this? If so, what memory conjures it, and what animal does it take the shape of?: Scorpius’ patronus takes the form of a peregrine falcon, decisive, clever and fierce. The memory that he relies on to fuel his patronus is tied to his father, the last time his Dad looked at him and smiled with a face free of disappointment and spoke kind words instead of reprimands. Scorpius had been seven.

Describe your character’s wand: Ebony 12 inches with a Unicorn Tail Hair core, Surprisingly Rigid.

*Biography: Scorpius is the only child of Astoria Greengrass and Draco Malfoy, a child they pinned all of their hopes and dreams on. No child was more doted upon or spoiled than Scorpius, his parents attempt at doing better by their son than their parents did for them. He was raised to be tolerant, accepting and to never judge another based on how pure their blood was. Draco and Astoria would not allow Scorpius to grow up with hate as they had, as if it were a normal part of life. The Malfoys did everything in their collective power to ensure that their son would be everything they had not been.

Although the sentiment is sound it was still quite a bit of pressure for someone so young. Since he was small Scorpius was expected to succeed, to excel in whatever was in front of him. To work doubly, triply hard to overcome the dark stain that permeated his family and prove to the wizarding world that a Malfoy could be a fundamentally good person. With all of this riding on his shoulders Scorpius could do nothing but acquiesce as much as he’d rather fade into the background quietly.

Throwing himself into every activity his father deemed important Scorpius immersed himself in his studies along with snagging the seeker spot on the Slytherin Quidditch team in his third year. His father said he was proud but there was still so much more Scorpius could accomplish if only he applied himself. Scorpius remembered but in all honesty it was never enough. There would always be people He’d have to prove himself to, let alone the pressure his parents constantly put on him to be the best. He was to do them proud, to change the entire perception of their family. He was only one boy. It was impossible but he’d succeed or die trying. Because his parents would murder him.

Scorpius spends much of his time at Hogwarts steeped in extracurricular activities when he’s not studying or playing the piano and although he tends to be more of an introvert he does his best to make friends, or at least put those around him at ease. Scorpius possesses an awkward charm that serves him well with both the boys and girls at school yet he’s ever afraid to let anyone truly know him seeing as he barely knows himself.

So begins...

Scorpius listened with half an ear as the headmaster did his best to assuage worry and to mandate the new rules that would hopefully keep them all safe. As a prefect he should’ve been listening, as a student in general and most definitely as someone whose name was on the dreaded list. Yet his thoughts were muddled by the correspondence that had cropped up between him and his parents when this mess began. His mother, though never overtly affectionate, was concerned for her only child. She wanted Draco to bring their son back home until this mess was sorted. In a situation such as this his parents usually agreed. This was not one of those situations. His father was adamant that Scorpius stayed right where he was, do his duty to his school and to remain ever vigilant. There would be no weakness on any front from any of the Malfoys.

With a small sigh he dropped his cutlery onto his plate of half finished food and scrubbed a hand through his pale hair. It was a habit that belied his anxiety to the outside world if they watched closely enough. Glancing around Scorpius was quick to note everyone rapidly splintering into groups. If he didn’t latch onto someone now he’d be left in the great hall. Merlin’s breath, he’d rather not get stuck in another conversation about turn of the century methods of divination involving chicken bones and entrails. Grimacing at the thought Scorpius spared a glance at Professor Trelawney before springing into action.

Rising to his feet, he quickly took note of the group containing the Scamander Twins and Rose, the closest thing he had to friends. Squaring his shoulders Scorpius let his long legs eat up the distance between and the fairly sizeable crowd as they moved away from the great hall. He didn’t want to appear too eager and did his very best to seem at ease, a well practiced grin sliding across his face as he fell into step.

“Ooh, what are we betting on? Are the odds in my favor?” Scorpius asked cheekily, raising his eyebrows in mock shock.

Rose doubted anyone believed Mahoney's story. The Slytherin wasn't the type to go out of her way to return a random book she found in the bathroom; at least, Rose didn't think she was. Still, though, she has to admit to herself that it was almost impressive how smoothly the girl lied. She pressed her lips together while they walked off. Was it her imagination, or did Dominique get extra sarcastic while under her influence?

"Ooh, bad luck," Rose shrugged one shoulder at her cousin. She was about to ask how that happened when Lorcan spoke up, and she grinned. How they were even going to determine the winner of this bet, she hadn't quite thought of yet, but gambling was something of a family tradition at this point, and one she rather enjoyed. A new bet, however small or inane, almost always cheered her up right away.

When another voice joined their group, she twitched slightly. Inside, she felt like she'd jumped out of her skin. She stopped a few feet into the hall, her gaze turning toward the new addition: Scorpius Malfoy. Her eyes narrowed for a moment. Normally when she was around Scorpius it was because of Albus or Quidditch, but Albus was nowhere in sight. She wasn't quite sure how to feel about that yet. "Nope," she teased, "they're in mine. As always." While she'd simmered down a bit from proclaiming Scorpius her number one rival in first year, she still felt the need to beat him at everything. Her lips curved back up into her signature smirk, though, and she continued walking with a bit of a skip in her step. "We're betting on whether Ash Mahoney is going to steal this snake book back from the library tonight after we return it for her."

Lysander rolled his eyes, shaking his head with a sigh at his brothers impulsiveness. "I hope you can at least afford it yourself this time when you lose." He spoke in a stern though loving if somewhat exasperated tone.

Lorcan looked at his brother with a mock expression of disbelief. "Oh but brother do you not have faith in me? I've never lost a bet!" He spoke this obvious lie with such confidence one could almost be forgiven for believing it.

Lysander still sported an exasperated expression but if one were to look closely they would find small smile on the verge of growing wider. "Well that's not true. Remember fourth year? I think I'll go with the smart choice and stay out of this one." He playfully sneered at his brother intentionally bringing up the infamous fourth year which resulted in the combustion of no less than three school brooms, the loss of half of Lysander's coin purse, and Lorcan's brief suspension from the Hufflepuff Quidditch team.

Lorcan visibly shivered at the mention of it. "Oh please for the love of Merlin do not mention fourth year." Before anymore could be said the twin's playful banter was cut short due to Scorpius' arrival.

The twins turned to the boy each greeting him in turn. Lysander gave his fellow prefect a slight wave and nod. "More your favor than Lorcan's." While Lorcan merely gave a small smile. "Oh sod off Lysander what do you know? Don't listen to him Scorpius lucks on my side I'm sure of it!"

Both the boys were clearly pleased at Mslfoys arrival. He was a good friend of the twins a fellow prefect to Lysander and Lorcan's largest rival in the pitch. Lorcan was just glad to hang out with a friend but Lysander was all too aware of his friends placement on the list. A Pureblood and a Malfoy no less. It was very likely that Scorpius would be targeted and soon. Lysander made s mental note to keep a watchful eye on his friend just in case danger rears its ugly head.
