A big proponent of practicality and simplicity, Clara does not have a particularly outstanding wardrobe. She's a fan of using color blocking to achieve sleek and undoubtedly stylish complete looks designed to look effortless. To that end, her closet comes in mostly solid colors with traditional cuts. She has nothing against prints or lace and frills, but has definitively decided they do not fit her well, and as a result her casual wear often resembles masculine skewed streetwear. Her clothes are far from only coming in greyscale, but she does not have any affinity for vibrant shades and tends to stick to deeper hues.

With a face unsuited to masking emotions, Clara is often an open book. By far the more approachable of the Chang siblings, her resting expression is pleasantly neutral, and when she's talking with friends, she is quick to laugh with a smile that always reaches her eyes. The hairβ€”as obsidian as her mother'sβ€” that she keeps cropped just below her shoulder is left loose during classes, but after school hours, she is quick to tie it up into a crude ponytail to keep it out of her eyes for whatever activity she has on the books for that day. The slimness of her limbs, often hidden beneath her school robes, do little to express the lean muscles she spent years developing. As a whole she seems to give the impression of a tensed Serval cat, an understated capability of danger.

There is an itch in her always asking for activity. While she likes a variety of muggle sports, Quidditch has found a special place in her heart. (Something, perhaps, about the thrill of flying and the rush of competition.) With age, though, she has learned how to quell it, take a break from all the running around for half a beat, at least. Her mother's daughter without question, Clara quite likes to read, and while she is picky about the things she finds tedious, she is always pleased to learn something new, especially if it's a something she can pull from her sleeve in conversation as a fun fact. When she picks up a book for fun, her tastes do not differ much from her brother, as she is also a fan of fantasy and science fiction based stories. Also like her brother, she likes to snack while she reads or studies, usually with a plate of fresh fruit or a cup of pudding. It helps her concentrate, especially when she works her way through the subjects she hates. (Although some, like astronomy and herbology, always seem to fly by.) When she is free from the confines of the library, besides the Quidditch field, her favorite place to be is with friends. There is a comfort there that cannot be beat, an unfiltered joy in all the silly dares and stupid jokes. She is not afraid to meet new people, though, and she finds the process of making new friends an always enjoyable experience. She doesn't shy away from crowds or big groups, but while large parties have their place, it's intimate gatherings that really have her heart, a picnic perhaps, or a small circle around a bonfire.

Thick headed and determined if nothing else, there is little Clara hates more than losing or failing to accomplish a task. And while she doesn't let it depress her, there are always annoying people, the loud, obnoxious sort, she knows will lord it over her. Worse than that, she thinks, is leaving a dare unfinished and being forced to accept the punishment, usually something tailored to make her miserable, like eating a bag of hard candy, or spending a night sleeping with those creepy, glass-eyed dolls. After a defeat, she takes some time to keep her head down. Sometimes, she self-punishesβ€”by forcing herself to work on subjects she hates: history of magic, arithmancy, sometimes ancient runes. While she can sometimes appear rather lackadaisical, she does take the things she commits to quite seriously. Perhaps this is why she has such a low tolerance for slackers or class clowns who don't know when to quit. Although she does have a somewhat low tolerance for a variety of people, so maybe not. She also has difficulty getting along with oblivious people who can't read the room, or malicious gossipers (she likes to speculate as much as the next guy, of course, but there's always those who take it a step too far). She can't stand many habitual liars; she hates being kept in the dark, especially since she can't lie worth her salt. It just feels unfair.

If she had nothing left to her name, she'd still have her pig-headed determination to succeed and an unbreakable iron will to live well. And in her books, that's all she really needs. Clara is not blind to her own desires, chases after her goals with everything she's got and then some. The problem: some of her goals are downright stupid. And that foolhardy tunnel vision can sometimes lead her to ignore the wishes of those closest to her. There's a little give and take in everything.

Maybe vivacious, but certainly dynamic, she thrives off of overcoming whatever limitations are set before herβ€” whether they be personal or mandated. She herself would not say she has a penchant for making trouble, but she probably lands herself in hot water more often than the ideal student would. She never sets out the express intent of making trouble, though, and by her count, that's what really matters. Because she's considerate, really. (Most of the time, anyway.) She believes in the maximization of happiness, it's just that sometimes she can't help but unfairly weigh her own happiness a little higher than others. She's working on it. But the impulsive nature is instilled bone-deep, because maybe her brother got all her mother's traits, but she's got a hefty amount of the spark in her father's eyes.

Friends of hers have already made the decision to not be irritated by her constant call for competition, a need to make a game of everything, even tossing an empty milk carton into the waste. The package came fairly labelled after all. There's not much of her personality that needs unpackingβ€” while she keeps her personal stories and details close to her chest, for the most part her demeanor doesn't change based on who she's with. She's a straight-shooter, and the fact that she can't lie or act worth a lick has little to do with that. She's steady. Boulder-in-the-river sturdy in all manner of ways, and that's really all she has to offer.

For some, that's enough. The steady shoulder and strong back she can offer in times of need is enough for the people that matter to her. She doesn't claim to be able to heal any deep wounds or even offer any life changing advice, but she is, as always, ever aware of her own limits, and she knows when to give people space or blank board to speak at if that's what they need. Respect has always been a major part of her family's teachings, and even if she's willing to skew it a little when it comes to rules and regulations and positions of power, she knows exactly what it means when it comes to people.

The school year is in full swing, all new students have unpacked and settled into their houses. As a treat for Halloween, the Headboy and Headgirl have managed to haggle a trip to Hogsmeade, on the condition that they and the prefects would then help set up for the annual Halloween costume ball that is held in the Great Hall on the 31st. A new tradition, but one all students looked forward to every year. The prefects may not be thanking their student leaders when they realise they're going to be spending the better part of a day decorating the largest room in Hogwarts, but for now, all are buzzing at the prospect of leaving Hogwarts for the day.

We join our witches and wizards as they are getting ready for their trip - pondering over what to wear, as they have permission not to wear school robes on the weekend. Where would they visit? What sweets would they buy from honeydukes? Did they have time to sneak in a butterbeer before having to head back? Each student is wrapped up in entirely different thoughts, planning their day to come.

No minds are thinking about the news, detailing vicious attacks on Purebloods by a group who labels themselves 'LOTUS'. What the students aren't aware of is the growing support for this group within their own school, no attacks have happened as of yet, but this trip would be the perfect time for something to go horribly wrong.
