Lilith Grim

Image
"Lights out ya monster's" A thick accented gruff voice echoed through the rusty steel walls of the hallway. Lilith glared at her bared door from her cot, she knew who's voice that was. Adair, one of seemingly many guards that have tried to molest her in her sleep. He is one of the only ones to survive her counter attack but came out of it with a dead arm. He whistled a tune Lilith was unfamiliar with and finally made his way to infront of her cell. His thinning dark red hair and piercing blue eyes looked harsh under the bright white lights of the fluorescent bulbs. He glared back at her, mouthing something that she didn't catch and then moved on, continuing his whistling. Bastard.

Once his whistling faded the hallways went dark, the only light being a small red bulb on the security camera. Tonight was the night, they were finally going to get out of here. Under the circumstances it was saddening. The scientist's had decided to kill the second generation of children today. Lilith had heard them say that the children's powers were 'weak' and 'insignificant' to the first generation's powers, aka Lilith and the rest of her age group. The fact that there way of escaping was for Lilith to use the bodies of the dead children to release them made her stomach churn but she knew that tonight was the only chance they would get cause by morning the children's bodies would be burned to ashes. No evidence of them ever being there. Lilith glanced at the clock on her light blue cell wall. It always surprised her that the scientists made them somewhere nice to live instead of an old, rundown house. She noted that it was midnight.

Its time.

Folding her legs underneath her on the bed Lilith imagined the still, cold bodies of the children and willed them to rise. She pictured them moving in a group, silently coming towards their cell wing. She sent one little blonde boy to get the keys from a sleeping guard. Quin was a fat and lazy man who didn't move from his post outside their cell wing, that is until Lilith and the other girls go for their shower's to which he always volunteers to 'watch' over them. Fucking pervert. Lilith commanded the boy to take Quin's knife them slice his neck. Lilith mentally saw through the boy's eyes as the blade slashed through Quin's fat throat then plug into his head. Instant kill. The little boy took the keys, dropped the knife and went back to the door. From her cell Lilith heard the sound of the big steel door being opened. She imagined them walking to each cell and unlocking it. Lilith heard the sound of her cell door being unlocked. She opened her now blazing stormy silver eyes and stood from the bed, grabbed the small brown backpack she had, which had the three outfits she owned and all the money and wallets she had stolen. She shot power into her bracelet making her scythe appear in her hand, the long intimidating blade seemed to curl protectively above her. Lilith left her cell and she saw the other's. The dead children crowded around Lilith but she didn't mind cause they were short and even though they were dead Lilith had a soft spot for children.

"Come" Was all Lilith said as they started to move forward, the children in front of the group of young adult's, keeping watch and making sure there were no guards or scientists. An uneasy feeling churned in Lilith stomach as she saw the exit. The door she had only come through once in her life. Once as entrance now an exit. Yet it all seemed to easy. Usually the hallways were crawling with guards and white coated people, yet not now. Why not now?

"Shit" Lilith cursed quietly and stopped. The children halted in the foot steps.

"I think they know our plan and I believe those bastards are waiting outside for us" Lilith said, concern lacing her voice. It was a full moon tonight so she knew they all would be at their strongest yet also the fact that these people have been studying them for year's. They know all of their weakness. Breathing in a deep calming breath Lilith started to walk again bracing herself for a fight, her hands gripping her scythe so tightly her knuckles were white. The group stopped at the door and Lilith made the children go first, making them run. She instantly heard the sounds of gun fire. She mentally saw the children fall but made them rise again.

"Shit its Lilith!" she heard a female voice shout then some panicking noises.

"Stand your ground men!" the same female voice commanded. Lilith urged the children forward, she heard more gun fire but this time she was prepared, making sure they stayed on their feet. She mentally commanded them to attack as they slipped through the guards defenses. Lilith was looking through the eyes of a small brunette girl, whom swiftly attacked a male guard Lilith didn't know. The girl bite hard into the man's leg with razor like fangs, giving Lilith the impression that the little girl was once a vampire. Lilith watched with sick satisfaction as the children started ripping into the guards.

"We should go, now" Lilith said calmly, opening the thick steel doors to the outside.

"LOOK!" she heard someone shout and turned to see Adair and him pointing his meaty finger at her and the group. A snarling voice left Lilith's lips as the pulled back in anger. Seconds later she ran the black blade of her scythe through the man, cutting him in half vertically. The pieces fell sideways allowing his inner's the gush and drop, spilling out of him. Lilith glared at the body of the fallen man then smiled as she saw his soul fluttering away, she grabbed it the yellow orb like species glowing it her hand. With a flex of her finger's she crushed the orb. Now that man will be forever stuck in a dark abyss between heaven, hell and earth. Lilith rushed back to the group.

"If we get separated we most promise that we will all meet in the nearest town" Lilith said sternly. A chorus of 'I promise' echoed through the group. Lilith nodded her head then shot around looking at the group of guards and scientists. Gripping her scythe tightly Lilith shot forward.

Lilith took in harsh, deep breaths as she tried to calm her racing heart. She has never run that fast or that long in her life. Bending over she put her hands on her knees and tried to catch her breath. She didn't know where she was or where anyone else was for that matter. Glancing around all she saw were taller, imposing ever greens. It was still dark out and Lilith could barely see ten feet in front of her. Finally catching her breath she stood straight. Hopefully she had ditched those guards that tried to follow her. With her heart still racing Lilith moved forward, she will admit she was exhausted. Using that many child had tired her out. She walked over to a large tree with low hanging branches and started to climb up. She made it to the fourth branch until she stop. It was thick and would hold her up fine. Thank goodness she didn't toss and turn in her sleep. Her eyes started to close until she heard a twig snap and shot up. Looking around Lilith's eyes snapped to a shadow. Worry coursed through her cause she didn't even have the energy to bring forth her scythe. But when the shadow came into the moonlight Lilith relaxed.

"Eric, thank goodness" she breathed softly as she hopped out of the tree and tackled the man in a hug.

Lotus struggled to get out of the men's grasp as they hauled her back to her cage. She growled at them and one of the men took a hold of her neck trying to draw blood from their blunt finger nails. It didn't work, but it sure as hell will leave red marks. "Look forward ya witch!" Lotus bared her teeth at the guard. Withes don't have fangs but it still held the same meaning "I will see to it that you die." Lotus spat out before they tossed her into her cell.

She flipped the man the bird and smirked. He reacted by going for her again but another guard pulled her back. "She aint worth your time man. C'mon, lights out!" He closed her door and Lotus went over to her corner and sat Indian style and mediated. She only did this when her emotions were on high. Her hair was currently going through a change though she didn't notice. It went from blue streaks to purple ones. Then Lotus heard something. Her harsh grey eyes saw the world once again as she moved closer to the door.

However she was beat to it as the door opened and it revealed what was on the other side. A kid. Now she was confused but she didn't show it on her poker face. They had said that they killed the kids because they weren't important to them anymore. They were too weak and not as interesting as the first generation. The kid walked away leaving the door. The rest of her body was revealed as she stepped out of her dark room into the hallway. She first saw the abundance of kids. Then she looked at them closely and saw they were pale and still held wounds from how they were killed. Lotus came to the realization that a reaper was the one doing this.

Lotus went into action as she followed a group of them as they walked towards the entrance. Lotus knew these halls way to well. She was the only witch that was born from one and that had the most abilities. They always had to run test on her to see what else she could do. They stopped and Lotus looked ahead to see...Lilith. The only reaper in the facility. She would have called out to her if she was social but alas she wasn't so she stayed quiet. Lilith turned to look at everyone and spoke that the scientist probably knew of their plan. Of course if that was true they would have ambushed them along time ago. They wouldn't let it get this far.

Then it all started. Hell broke loose as they were spotted. Lotus instantly recognized the man who tried to attack her and she waved mockingly at him and he lunged for her. Lotus grabbed the knife that was resided on his hip and with swift movements she twist away from him and stabbed his back watching as he fell to the ground. Lotus knew the human body well. She implanted the knife in a certain way so that he would become immobile. Like a gun to the spine but only more precise and deadlier. "I've study you're weapons. Your knifes are heavy. If no one takes it out it will continue to slowly penetrate your back 'till you die. But I'll spare your life. I'm not like my mother." Her eyes flashed bright and she smiled wickedly before yanking out the knife stepping over his thrashing body, dashing out the institute into the dark forest she long to be.

~~~~~
Lotus continued to run in and out the shadows using her new ability. She enjoyed the feeling of being invisible to the world. She refused to stop until she was sure she was atleast 20 million miles away from the The Heart House. Lotus was about to enter another shadow laying under a tree but she collided with another figure. She got up and took the knife and lunged for the person again. It was only a couple of seconds of wrestling about before she finally realized who it was. He was another victim of the facility. "Joshua..."
Fay glared at the guard behind the current one who's shoulder she was being carried over. The guard behind her held a torch right by her head and another by her hands keeping her from drawing water out of the humid air to attack them with. The workers of this facility had already learned about her ability the hard way.
Fay stood in the middle of the humid testing room where they were currently trying to figure out her fairy element. When she refused to cooperate one of the guards came in with a whip and lashed it towards her. Fay drew water out of the air and before the whip could connect with her skin she sent a pulse of water at the guard. More guards came rushing in to back up their co-worker and Fay protected herself with the water but she didn't last long in the fight when one of the guards brought in a flamethrower and began to blast the fire into the air. Fay collapsed from the over-excessive heat and she was dragged back to her cell where they had a scientist add a heating mechanism into the door that would make the door too hot for her to try and break.
Fay was thrown into her cell and she landed with a 'umph'. She stood up and brushed dust off of her jeans and white tanktop. Fay sat down on the bed and glanced up at the clock, it had just struck midnight. She laid down onto her back staring at the ceiling when she heard clicking of other cells being opened. Fay shot up and walked towards her door as the clicking of a key being turned in the key hole began. The door opened to reveal small children who were obviously dead yet not walking by, following behind them were the other supernaturals of her age. Her eyes made contact with Issac's and she stuck her tongue out at him in a teasing look. Fay then ran back to her bed and grabbed her bag stuffing all of her belongings into it. She quickly pulled her pink and purple hair into a pony tail before running out and following behind the others.
Suddenly everyone stopped and she looked around them seeing the scientists and guards standing there. Fay turned invisible and began to sneak away, she didn't want to participate in any fighting. Although Fay was against fighting she did draw some water from the ground and froze it around a few of the guards feet so they wouldn't chase after her friends. Fay then disappeared into the forest ditching her invisibility and just letting her self run through the forest.
******************************
Fay continued running through the forest trying to stay in the areas that the moonlight reached. Fay then thought of an idea and smirked. She brought water out of the ground and froze it causing a slide of ice to form. Fay slid on the ice path she created smiling and laughing as she weaved between all of the trees and rocks. If one was to observe her it would look like she was surfing on ice using her boots as a surfboard. She didn't pay attention of where she was going and didn't notice the figure that crossed into her path. Fay had closed her eyes to let the cold wind rush against her face but soon she felt the impact. The impact sent them rolling through the woods a bit more but when they stopped she hopped up and went invisible immediately looking at who she had hit. Fay's invisible eyes rolled in annoyance as she made a 'tch' sound. She was staring at the one person she couldn't stand. "Why did I have to get stuck with you ugh! Of course it's Fang Boy!" Fay exclaimed as she began pacing forgetting that she was still invisible. "I have to be in the same area with Blood Breath!! I'd rather be made to stand in the desert than be stuck with him!" Fay told herself as she continued pacing, annoyed and just ready to be done with escaping so she can get back to her family and no longer be remind of the living hell she had been in for most of her life.
Image Image Tap Tap Tap Isaac laid there in silance, his body seemed lifeless. It was as if he was dead just like the children from the second generation, Isaac laid. Tap Tap Tap
"Oi! You still alive in there?" Adair started to chuckle. "Ooooh yeahhhh, That's right. Of course you aren't alive. How can someone like you be ever alive." Adair had a tone of taunting. You could tell he wanted to stir up Isaac, just to give him an excuse to kill him. But he was use to Adair's actions and words. "Oh did I hit a nerve? No? It's a bummer we have to kill you once we are done with you. Must be hard only getting a drop of animal blood a day. I wonder what your mother would think?" His voice smiled, Isaac could feel his eyes stare down at him.
This time a nerve was hit. His eyes opened, the grin in his eyes shifted into a silvery color within his green. Staring at the ceiling now, it took alot in him to not get up and try to kill this man, but how could he? Sure a drop of blood was enough to keep him going, but it was animal blood, by just getting a drop of it, he was like any other human being. Weak and....normal. So he thought anyways, in truth he was always stronger than any mere human, or any other creature out there, even if he was in the weakest state possible, he still was strong and fast. This was pretty much the only time Isaac ever felt nearly human. Was the only time he could ever feel at peace, even if he wasn't n a peaceful place.
"How does it feel to be all alone?" Adair chuckled again. "Even his own mother didn't want him." Adair started to walk off while whistling a song. Adair made his normal route around the cells, checking in on the "monsters". But everytime this happens, he always has something to say to Isaac.
"Tch" Isaac clicked his tongue in anger while smashing his hand and arm against the wall. The loud bang echoed through the walls and nothing more was left. He waited just like that until it was time for them to go. Until it was his cue to get out of here, but not until after he got to kill Adair.
Not long after that Isaac heard the sounds of pit pat noises going through the halls. He heard this before and he knew what it was The sound of children's bear feet tapping along the floor. He then heard the sound of the guards throat being gashed open. "Damn it! Stupid kids! If you'd just make him so he couldn't use his arms, that would have been alot better! But thanks, alot! I see you really care even after life." Isaac rolled his eyes and grabbed his leather black jacket and his bag along with his stuff inside. "Now thanks to you...-" The cell door opened as he started to walk out. "-..I have nothing to make myself useful with! Damn brats." He looked at the guards dead body and sighed. "Such a waste, poor guy. Killed by a child a dead one at that. Humans can be so weak." He looked at the body as if disappointed. "Hey Lil, I know you are in these kids. I can sense you. Thanks." Was all he said and started to follow the kids towards the 'fairie's' room.
Isaac stopped the kid just before he was about to cut the sleeping guard. "Hey" He started to growl his words in a whisper. "I got this. Stay out of my way damn brat! Unlike you I need this man to do me some service." He moved the kit out of the way by his head, the lifeless body stubbled like a puppet at the same time Isaac's eyes shined a bright blood red, his pupil turned into a straight line from the dot it was. His teeth shined a bright pearl white and with a crunch of the neck, the guard woke up instantly, but before he could yell, Isaac ripped out the guys tongue. Getting his fill, he started to chuckle at the high it gave him. He felt even stronger now.
Wiping his mouth the kids let the cell door open and the fair came out to greet him with a tongue and a teasing look, but he didn't reply. By the time they got out the action took place, the guards were there and the creatures took action, and of course he noticed the fairy leaving. Typical of that. Isaac shook his head, just standing there watching everything take place. In that moment he felt the death of Adair's presents, shortly after it was gone in the same instant. "Lil.." he whispered her name knowing she is the one at fault.
He huffed A few guards started to circle around him, his face was blank but after he noticed that there was about 5 he smiled. "Really? Only five? Who do you take me for? A Shapeshifter?" He laughed, highly amused. "Come on now." In a blink of an eye Isaac was already wiping blood from his lips. "Thank you for that kind meal. Sacrificing yourselves was so much fun!" Their bodies fell to the ground, cold and dead, you could tell they had no blood left in them.
Once he was done he made his way in the direction of the scent of fairy. Wasn't hard to spot out, but it was alot more easier to endure than it was to endure a 'Dog' or any of the others, even the 'Reaper' was easy to smell out, she had a power that anyone could since. But he took the easier way around it and just went with the 'Fairy'. He picked up the bag that he had dropped and headed to his destination. With a smirk on his face he purposely bumped into the Fairy girl who had protected herself from the cold wind, a wind that felt warm to Isaac.
He chuckled as she went on complaining after she noticed who it was. "Calm down pixystick, or I'll take tinkerbells light away." He smirked. but with her words that amused him, he decided not to tell her that she wasn't stuck with him, that the others weren't really that far away, but he shook his head and went along with it. "So we are stuck together. Would you rather I leave you? I mean after all you are a Fairy, i am sure you can handle yourself inside the woods, where there is sure to be more guards, but hey, you don't want to be stuck with me right?" He winked at her and waved his hand. "I guess I'll just be off then, good luck out here on your own, Pixystick." He didn't use his speed this time and started to head in the direction to where he knew the others weren't.
Eric sat on the floor, his eyes closed as he ignored the banging Adair made as he walked past the other cages until the footsteps finally made their last stop in front of his own cage. ”Open yer ruddy eyes, ya beast.” the guard taunted. Eric could hear the light pattering of spittle falling to the ground as the guard spoke, and forced himself to not respond to the guard's overbearing taunt. “I said, open yer ruddy eyes!” The guard banged his hand on the fortified glass that Eric’s cell had, only to have Eric suddenly standing in front of him, his eyes wide open, and his teeth sharp canines. “Go and do your job, Adair; don't bother me.” Eric said, emotionlessly. “Or that door there,” he pointed at the metal door that led out of his cell, ”Will, probably, magically come off.” Eric smiled lightly, making sure to flash his canines again, as the guard backed off, unable to hear what Eric was saying but feeling and understanding the threat. Eric sat back down in his original place in the center of his cell as he could hear Adair mutter, once again but this time to him, bastard, as the hallway went dark and silent. No more whistling.
He knew that Lilith was up to something; this morning, when he had been dragged out of his cell and past the others, he had caught Lilith’s eye. The look on her face was one of excitement, sadness, and anticipation. He had not been able to talk with the others for months after he had nearly killed another scientist during an experiment, and had been taken away and locked up in the highly fortified glass cage he was currently in, with sent meals and no exercise periods; Eric figured out, through the body language of the other supernaturals, that they had planned to escape, and from Lilith's expression earlier, the plan was to be executed tonight. Eric had come back to his cell filled with anticipation as night came, his powers swirling inside him, the beast inside him howling to the full moon he could not see. He closed his eyes, calming the rising sense of adrenaline in his body when suddenly a resounding click echoed throughout his room, the metal door he had referred to earlier opening to show the small figure of a young boy. “V-Vincent?” he asked, confused as he walked up to the younger shapeshifter the facility had caught only just a few years ago. As he grabbed the boy’s shoulder, a look dawned on Eric’s face. Lilith is controlling the children…they killed the children... No...they will pay for this. he snarled with anger, letting go of the child as Vincent ran to join Lilith, who stood farther away down the hall with the other supernaturals of his group surrounding her. He barely had time to answer her promise of meeting up at the village before his best friend darted out of their life-long prison, her large scythe in hand, right after the children.
Bounding out after the others, Eric flexed his tired muscles and ran straight onto one of the towers that held soldiers with machine guns, firing rapidly at the other supernaturals. He growled as he dodged bullets, hissing as one hit his shoulder, and made his hands and feet form claws, before rapidly grabbing the metal of the tower. The metal felt like cloth in his hands, as his enhanced strength helped him secure his hands and feet into the metal, and propelled him up the tower with inhumane speed. He quickly leapt into the standing the soldiers were in and decapitated them, twisting their heads rapidly with loud snaps. He hid in the standing before peeping down at the ground, only to see that the girls had already left. Only he and the vampire remained fighting the guards. After some deliberation, Eric jumped from the pit, landing with a grunt on the ground before propelling forwards, using the force of jumping down to propel his dash forward. He ignored the vampire as he rushed past the zipping figures around him, his speed causing his ears to fill with the sound of rushing air, and ran out of the facility, the large gate that had constantly blocked them from freedom open wide.
His heart pounded as he rushed through the woods, his only thought to get as far away from the facility as possible before he came to a stop, falling over as his hands and heels dug into the ground to stop his speeding. He looked around and noticed that the forest was eerily quiet, and that he was alone. Did Lilith make it out safe?! Eric lifted his head and sniffed, only faintly noticing Lilith’s scent in the air. He quickly picked up his pace and ran in her direction, his eyes picking up all movements around him, his ears listening to the scurrying of all the little critters whom were frightened by his presence. Eric felt extremely disoriented- even his nose seemed to be playing tricks on him as other smells bombarded him, tickling his senses as he made his way through the forest. He finally came to a stop as he eyed a tree with low hanging branches with Lilith’s scent sprayed all over the area. ”…Lilith?” he whispered, walking towards the tree as a branch snapped under his feet, causing him to flinch. He took another step forward this time carefully, wavering for a while before finally walking out into the moonlight, bracing himself in case Lilith wasn’t the one who was going to come out from around the tree.
To his relief, he heard a familiar voice whisper his name, and chuckled as he grabbed Lilith into a hug as she jumped out of the tree, cutting her tackle to a stop. ”Thank God you are safe." He muttered, hugging her tight, trying to keep his strength in check. His body shook as the adrenaline finally wore off and was replaced with anger and worry, as his eyes flitted around, carefully observing their surroundings.
Joshua Ustrina
Joshua had lost track of time hours ago. Well, it may have been hours. He wasn't sure. He was currently stood in the corner of his wretched steel cell, facing the wall, with his head pressed up against the cool metal. He felt as if he was on fire. His skin could have been alight with invisible flames, and that wouldn't have surprised him. Except for most people, that would have been something quite uncomfortable and even frightening. For Josh, it was a thrill, a rush; like jumping from a cliff with the uncertain knowledge of a safe landing, and his fury only heightened that sense of power. Joshua very rarely became this consumed with his anger, but right now, he could feel it as though it was boiling water that was being pumped through his veins and arteries. His hands shook uncontrollably, and the only thing preventing him from blasting the room with his element was his incredible stillness as he faced the wall.
They had deliberately provoked him. They'd overwhelmed him. He'd been here all his life, and they knew him like some sort of sick and twisted god father. It had started as a normal test, though the term 'normal' was one that he used lightly. He'd been taken to one of the large shower rooms in the building, and his clothes all except for the bare necessities had been removed from him. As humiliating as this was, it was fairly routine, and Joshua had learned to simply endure the agony that was the freezing cold water of the shower. But this time, he could feel it was different. It struck his bare skin hard and fast, and with each drop the water felt colder and wetter, and it deadened his powers until nothing except the simple possibility of a spark existed inside himself.
As usual, following the frigid deluge, the steel door in the wall opened to admit him into the adjoining room which was empty and barren. As he understood it, this test was to discover how long it took him to recover from this borderline torture. However, they were always considerate to a degree. They always darkened the walls as he liked it, and allowed him the peace and quiet required to recuperate. Except this time they didn't. They filled his ears with excruciating white noise, and turned the lights up so that they were a harsh, clinical white, and as soon as he felt his damp skin begin to dry, they soaked him again. Each time, it was worse. At first, he asked them what was going on. Then he asked them to stop. Then he begged, as he began to loose that single spark that he had never lost before. Which then built, as his desperation turned to a malevolent rage that he simply could not control.
After that, they brought him back to his room, mocking and teasing him all the way.
So he'd stood in the corner, shivering and nursing his anger ever since. As time continued to pass, though, he gained the sensation that he was being watched, which in itself wasn't unusual, except this time it was different. Joshua turned his head, stiff from his self enforced rigid posture, to glance behind him. The sight that greeted him couldn't have been more unexpected. It was a single child. A girl. And yet the door to his cold cell was firmly locked. The girl couldn't have been very old at all, and she was clothed in a childish pink dress with white dots all over it. Initially, she was unremarkable, and Josh parted his lips to offer her a curious welcome, but the words died stillborn upon his lips.
The girl that regarded him with emotionless dead eyes tilted her head, and details of her appearance began to become obvious, as if they had been previously hidden. Blood now soaked the pretty little dress, and stained her loose blonde hair a crude scarlet. Her skin became pale and white, like a sheet of paper held up to a bright light.
"I'm sorry," Josh whispered, his sadness and grief for the deceased child only rekindling his anger and newly developed hatred for those that kept him, and the others, captive.
In reply, the little girl just smiled brightly, like any other girl her age might, and Joshua was glad that she was no longer in pain. He didn't say anything else, as it dawned upon him that she was here for a purpose. He simply watched her as she watched him, and after a few long moments the girl parted her cracked lips and clearly mouthed two words before fading away, as if he had never known her presence.
"It's time"
The words reverberated around Joshua's head, and he found himself moving purposefully towards the door. This was a day that he had waited for for a very long time. At the door, he paused, and allowed himself a victorious grin in anticipation of the things he was about to do. One more breath he gathered, before he struck the door hard with his closed fists and shouted as loud as he could.
"Help! Shit, oh help! Fire! I can't...help me!"
The door was flung open immediately, and Joshua found himself faced with his two personal demons. They could have been twins. One man and one woman, both tall and slim with thickly lined faces, and blonde with blue eyes. They were the coldest and most cruel people Joshua had ever had the ill fortune of meeting, and he knew he would take pleasure in the next few seconds. In the back of his mind, he cringed from the violent thoughts his anger made him prone to, but he had no control. Before the two guards could react to his flameless room, Josh flung his arms forward to strike both of them in the chest. As soon as his palms hit them, flames exploded outwards, licking their clothing and scorching their eyes and lips.
The stench of burning flesh filled the thin corridor, and Josh reeled away. His feet struck the ground mercilessly as he sprinted through the familiar twists and turns of the labyrinthine house. Alarm bells started ringing; one for the fire, and one for his escape, and Joshua laughed as he finally flung open a window, and slipped through it.
******************************
Moments later, Josh had alighted, and was in the air. This was a pleasure he was rarely allowed, and he revelled in his stolen privilege as he made his escape. Flight was something that he knew many people were envious of, and he could understand why. There was a freedom and joy to unlimited travel. There were no laws or guidelines to restrict his path, and no one could stop him. The wind whistled through his hair, and struck his hot face, though it wasn't uncomfortable like the water had been. His body reacted in order to preserve him, and he felt himself heating up to counter the chill breeze.
Joshua flew on ephemeral wings of deepest scarlet feathers, only ever half present. Below him, guards scurried from their hovels to shine lights up at the sky in vain attempt to find him, and Josh knew that he wouldn't have long. Out here, he may have his powers, but they had the upper hand. So, he changed his course to head towards a small copse of trees. A light passed over him for the briefest moment as he approached the shelter, and whistles blew from beneath him. So, he'd been found. So be it.
Recklessly, Joshua plummeted through the green leafy canopy of the copse, banishing his wings to allow a faster landing. He struck the ground awkwardly, and immediately regretted not having had as much flight practice as he would have liked. He fell, and hit the ground hard, rolling down a small slope before coming to a halt with another strong blow. He immediately felt the breath knocked out of him, and gasped until he could force his lungs to expand again. He coughed, and then forced himself to his feet as the sound of approaching whistling and the calls of his hunters began to grow louder.
"Shit..." He muttered, drawing close to the shadow of a tree and crouching down. He forced his breath to still and silence, and held himself tense as he waited for them to find him. Yet, they didn't. Blindly, the guards ran straight past him, and Joshua took the opportunity to think about what he had with him. He was dressed in comfortable jeans, and a plain white shirt. But he had no coat or jacket, or even an umbrella, which would only be an issue if it rained. The cold had never bothered him, but he knew that the rain would. In his back pocket, he'd managed to keep his wallet, though a quick feel told him he had little money and only his ID. Josh swore softly to himself again, and then suddenly felt the breath driven out of him once more as a dark shape threw itself at him.
Blindly, Josh fought for his life against the anonymous attacker. He flung his arms out, and rolled, striking out fearlessly at the arm that wielded a blade. He was just about to set his apparent killer alight with fire when he rolled on top of what turned out to be a...her. The light shifted, and revealed her face to him, and recognition instantly dawned in the man's gaze.
"Joshua..."
Her breathy exclamation instantly reassured him, and he relaxed quickly, letting the fire fade from his hands as he exhaled in a similar manner, "Oh, fuck...Lotus"
Josh quickly pulled himself off of her, and cast his gaze quickly around the small trees, hoping their small scuffle hadn't been heard. He took her hand, and pulled her back into the shadow of the tree he'd just been sheltering in, before pressing his body against the cool, reassuring trunk.
"They're close," He whispered to her, before flashing her a suddenly awkward grin, "Hi, by the way"
Lotus barely registered Joshua at the second just that he had a flame that was near her face getting ready to kill her. See witches have very delicate and flammable skin. The fire as so much licked at her skin she would be a goner. Probably the reason why Lotus hated Joshua when she was little. Most of it being the scientist fault. They just had to find out what her weaknesses where? "Oh, fuck...Lotus" he said as he finally registered who he was currently on top of.
He jumped up like hell was at his heels and technically speaking, it's true. If you count buff guards, weird scientist, and mad dogs hell then yes, hell was at both of their heels. His hand clasped hers and pulled her up and forcing her to lean on the bone chilling bark. Lotus sighed in relief when she noticed that he didn't have his fire ball anymore. That means she was safe...ish. At least from him. Lotus doesn't mean this in a bad way but she planned on surviving when she escaped.
"They're close," Joshua said in a voice that was sure lower than a whisper. Lotus craned her neck to see where 'they' are. Lotus hated the feeling of being oblivious to everything. She wanted to know as much as she can so she can always be prepared for the worst, and at the moment she wasn't prepared in the least. Lotus grind her teeth together obviously frustrated at the moment. She was attempting to find a light or something but all she could hear was the barking of dogs and the thuds of their feet.
"Hi, by the way" Lotus turned to look at Joshua was giving her a smile that was almost awkward in a way. She narrowed her eyes in disbelief. Was he seriously saying hi at a moment like this. They were currently in a very, very, very sticky situation and he wanted to catch up!? Lotus breathed out and closed her eyes a little and restrained from any high emotion. She opened her eyes again and made eye contact. Her grey eyes pierced his hazel ones. "Hi."
Lotus could hear them getting closer and she made an executive decision and grabbed his hand again and continued to run with him in tow. Lotus took a glance around and saw that their was lanterns everywhere shining light in the darkest places. Lotus kept running knowing that she couldn't shadow travel anymore. As they jumped over a fallen tree a light landed on them before they disappeared again. O're there! C'mon boys this way!" Lotus has never ran for so long in her life before so her lungs were aching but she new that she had to keep going.
Lilith Grim
Image
Lilith giggled lightly as she felt Eric’s strong hold on her tighten. She knew he was worried, mad and anxious she felt the same way and in the supernatural world emotion’s played a huge role in their powers. It’s like the two are connected, it doesn’t matter how much control you have your emotions will over through control.
“Eric you’re squeezing to hard” Lilith wheeled backing out of his hold. He let her go easy enough but she still felt like she had to fight it. Lilith stiffened as she heard more noises, the thudding sounds of footsteps hitting the moist ground.
“Shit they found us” Lilith cursed quietly completely getting out of Eric’s hold and turning towards the noise. She didn’t have enhanced hearing like Eric but her hearing was better than a humans.
“We should go now” Lilith said quietly to Eric, grabbing his hand to pulling him into the shadows. They weren’t fast enough though as a beam of light focused on them.
“Its Reaper and Shifter, I repeat Reaper and Shifter!” a male shouted. He jumped from the bushes gun in hand pointed at Lilith and Eric. Moments later seven other men joined him, all pointing their guns at the supernatural pair.
“Hands up where we can see them!” the man shouted. Lilith growled narrowing her eyes at the group. Like hell she would come easily, fuck that. Then an idea popped into her head and Lilith removed her bracelet, ignoring the warning bells in the back of her mind. She put it in Eric’s hand, for as long as he had the bracelet her powers wouldn’t affect him.
“Don’t let go of this” she said sternly, indicating the bracelet. She then let go of his hand and raised her hands above her head and moved forward.
“Slowly bitch”
the man snapped making Lilith glare at the man her anger spiked instantly. She walked until he signaled for her to stop.
“You two grab her the rest get the shifter” the man ordered as he and two other’s walked over to Lilith. They all grabbed her and moments later fell to the ground at her feet. The four remaining men looked at her in surprise and fear, halting in their footsteps.
“What the fuck just happened?” a guard shouted, readying his gun but Lilith was faster rushing over to the group and grabbing hold of their hands. Seconds later they too fell to her feet as death overcame them.
“Alright now that they are out of the way, we should get moving and try to find the nearest town, which shouldn’t be too hard with that nose of yours” Lilith teased as she walked back over to Eric and took bracelet. She glanced down at the bodies then the area they were in. All the trees and plants were now brown and dead instead of the vibrant green they once were. The reason the men died so quickly was because the aura around Lilith had affected them, draining them slowly and then once she made skin contact she drained their life instantly. That’s why she had Eric hold her bracelet, it protected him from her power. She put the bracelet back on and felt her power’s being forced back, under control now.
“Shall we?” she smiled as she started moving forward.
Eric had tensed for a while, unsure of whether what he was hearing were footsteps or not- the sound of owl’s hooting and bugs chewing away at bark was just too cacophonous- and when he did, it was already too late. He let go of Lilith as she backed out of his embrace and was about to catch her and bound into the woods but the moment he had turned on his heels, a male voice suddenly shot out from the foliage. Eric turned and squinted through the trees, trying to make out if the guards had brought any weapons, but a large white flash beamed in his face, his eyes watering instantly as he turned away quickly.
“It’s Reaper and Shifter, I repeat Reaper and Shifter!” Unconsciously, Eric unsheathed his claws and fangs as he heard the man speak into the walkie-talkie, fury building inside him until Lilith suddenly stepped up to him and handed him something. “…Lilith?” he shot a curious look at Lilith’s receding back, as he glanced down at the small piece of jewelry she had just handed over to him. He knew how deadly Lilith’s powers were, and decided to not interfere; he didn’t want to take his chances around his best friend when she was on a roll. Anyways, he had always wanted to see the extent of her powers- never before had they really been able to see it, even when they were jailed together back when they were children. Her powers, at the time, had been underdeveloped, and, before she was reaped, had finally stepped into her powers.
But now it was different. Eric watched with slight amusement as Lilith walked towards the men. When he heard what the men called Lilith, he snapped and growled at them, especially at the one who ordered her around. He didn't attack, however, as he noticed that Lilith was extremely docile, for once. That is, her act of docility was extremely convincing until other men came forward, grabbed her, and dropped to the ground lifeless within seconds. So this…is the extent of Lilith Grim’s powers. Eric felt a shiver run down his spine as he watched Lilith run between the guards, touching their hands, weaving to and fro between the men and trees as if she were participating in some sort of beautiful ritual dance. He felt like he was in a trance as he watched her move, her powers seeping the life out of everything around her, even the trees in the area. Eric barely even noticed when Lilith came to stand in front of him, gently tugging the bracelet out of his hands.
“Well,” he said, an eyebrow raised as he looked down at Lilith, “Yes, we should get moving. This way, actually-“ he stopped and sniffed. Eric sneezed, unable to take in the multitudes of smells the forest had for him. He was used to dull chlorine and the basic scents of other supernaturals and humans, but not an amalgam of almost- he thought- everything placed together. His pinched his nose as he turned towards Lilith and whispered, “Wait a second.”
Eric let go of his nose and let out a whistle, beckoning for a bird to come. He grinned as a hawk landed on his outstretched hand, seeing specific types of animals for the first time always pleased Eric. Quietly, he asked the bird where the next village in, and the hawk replied him with a screech, a screech that Eric understood as if the hawk had spoken English. Nodding, he turned to Lilith; the hawk still perched on his right hand, and grabbed her arm lightly as he guided her in a different direction. “It’s this way. We should hurry; apparently Ben here saw a few more human troops, which I still can’t smell-“ he rubbed his nose with frustration, “and we’re pretty far from the village.”
Josh instantly flinched as he realized how inappropriate his awkward greeting had been, and under other circumstances would probably have left the room, shortly after stumbling over his own feet. But this time, he pushed his instant regret aside and glanced around, warily searching for those that might also be searching for them. For a moment, it seemed that all was well, until the lantern light approached. He froze for a moment, and almost reached automatically for the flames that he knew would protect him and Lotus, before quickly freezing. He couldn't risk using those powers so close to the witch. That was when he felt her take a grip of is hand as she pulled him, and he realized that he'd stood idle for too long. He gripped her hand, and after a moment of confused hesitation, stepped up beside her. He'd never been the most athletic of people, but adrenaline and fear pumped desperation into his muscles and he soon sprang forwards. His long legs carried him beside Lotus, and after a few moments of running, he was sprinting right alongside her.
Everything suddenly seemed a blur. The trees were little more than a mess of darkness and leafy shadow while the lights of the lanterns seemed divided as if shone through a prism. It was an uncomfortable sensation, and it only made Joshua even more aware of the need to escape. He had no warning when one of their pursuers burst from the foliage to their left, making Josh stumble and almost trip in surprise. He tugged his hand free of Lotus' as he heard a victorious chuckle from the man who now had a hard, cruel grip on his companions' ankle, forcing Joshua to react on instinct. He stepped back and forced fire at the man, who screamed in horror and agony as his skin began to peel from his body.
"Shit, move!" Josh yelled over the dying screams of what had once been a man. He threw himself at Lotus, momentarily bearing them both to the ground in an attempt to push her away from the flames which, though a blessed reassurance to him, would kill her in moments. Lights again swung their way, and Joshua cursed again, before pulling himself up to his feet, and dragging Lotus with him. He paused just a moment to grab a hold of her, and gasp out, "Are you okay?". In that moment, he paused and genuine concern filled his face before the shouts of the guards reached them again. He swore, and then froze as a sound came to his sensitive ears. It was a gentle babbling, trickling, dripping, and unmistakeable. In anticipation of what he knew was to come, he felt himself go pale with dread. The guards were getting closer, but Joshua stopped once more to clasp Lotus' hands.
"That way," He said quickly, nodding behind him and grimacing, "And you gotta trust me, okay?"
Time was up. They were almost upon them, and Josh hesitated no more. He turned and put Lotus in front of him in the direction of the stream. He could hear it, and in hearing it, the details of the water reached him. It wasn't particularly deep, perhaps waist height on himself, but it was cold, and required a small leap from the bank. On the other side, he had no idea what they would find, but Joshua knew that it was there only chance.
"Run!" He shouted and pushed Lotus ahead, not even thinking as they raced the short distance towards their hopeful salvation. At the bank, he stop. He pushed Lotus, hard, and turned his back to the stream before he even heard the splash that heralded her arrival in the water. Joshua turned, just in time to find himself face to face with the panting faces of the guards. He glanced behind him once, trying not to think about the icy water that was calling to him, and turned back, oblivious to their taunts and soothing words.
In a single movement, Joshua flung his hands up, and a wall of flames appeared between him and them, stretching tall and then running along the banks of the stream. It was hot, reassuringly hot, and was fuelled by his intense need. They roared high, bright scarlet and fearless, and he was rewarded with the sounds of surprise and pain from those that he was now safe from. Reluctantly, Josh turned, and bidding the flames stay as they were, leaped into the stream with a heavy splash.
Immediately, the cold hit him. Before even feeling wet, the instant the frigid temperature struck his hot skin the breath was kicked out of him. It felt like hundreds of knives being pressed between his ribs at once, and even though he could feel the pebbled bottom or the stream beneath his feet, Joshua still struck out at the water as though it was an assailant that he could fight off. He coughed and spluttered, and dragged himself towards the other side.
"Lotus? Damn it...Lotus!" He called out through shuddering teeth as he felt his powers fade.
The emptiness was all Lotus felt when Josh was ripped from her hand. She turned around and stopped that a guard had a grip on her ankle. She would have attacked if it wasn't for Joshua setting the man alight. Lotus stood their in horror as the flames got bigger and brighter and all she could think about that it was the end for her. "Shit, move!" The sound of Joshua's voice was only a mere ring in her ears as he tackled her to the ground covering her delicate skin from the deadly flame. He got off of her a seconds later yanking her up with him. "Are you okay?" Lotus shook her head furiously in reply.
"That way," Lotus looked in the direction he directed his head to. "And you gotta trust me, okay?" Lotus looked at him and then nodded not sure if she could speak at the moment. Her voice would surely be cracked. The sound of them coming closer seem to snap them both out of it. "Run!" Joshua yelled and pushed Lotus ahead letting her get a head start. She willed her legs to sprint and soon enough she was.
Lotus saw the stream and before she could stop to turn around Joshua pushed her in. She gasped in shock and when her skin made contact with the water, she got a mouth full of it. The water was freezing and even in her jeans and t-shirt she felt like the water was crawling against her skin. Lotus broke the surface and turned around looking from Joshua and then she screamed. A wall of flames. Backing up Lotus tripped and went back into the water. It was a while before she got again, this time on the other side.
Lotus pulled herself up on the grass and coughed up all the water she had just inhaled. Her lungs burned from the lack of oxygen it had received. Lotus got up on her hands and knees and shivered violently as her body temperature dropped in seconds. She was freezing cold. "Lotus? Damn it...Lotus!" Lotus squinted and look around looking for Joshua. She sighed in relief when she noticed he wasn't to far away. "I'm..here." She breathed out and waved her hand around to let him know where. She dragged herself over to him and collapsed next to his figure drained. She looked at him. "Don't ever do that again.
Josh fumbled his way to the surface, spitting water out quickly as he sent water splashing outwards. He groaned as his head filled with the familiar buzzing sound that he got each time his powers were taken from him by the water. His head felt heavy, and his ears felt thick as though beeswax had been stuffed in them. Josh looked around, and everything was a blur of colour. The light of the fire he had summoned reflected from the surface of the stream, and the screams of the burned men filled the air so that the birds of the copse fled into the sky.He turned, and headed in the direction that he hoped the opposite bank was. Water soaked his jeans and made them tight on his legs, filling his shoes so that they felt like weights pulling him down. It was a struggle to get to the other side, but when he did, he collapsed onto the muddy ground in the same manner that a starving man might approach a feast.
His head fell back, and he began to shiver. He could feel his clothes starting to stick to his skin, which began to shiver uncontrollably as the cold set in and smothered his powers. Joshua felt the sudden need to pull his clothing off and toss it away for holding the moisture that was so torturous to him, but he couldn’t quite find the energy to do so. Just the thought of moving seemed too much. The fire on the opposite bank roared effortlessly, feeding from the trees and bushes, and Josh found himself watching it almost as though he was in a trance.
”I’m...here. Don’t ever do that again”
The sound of a friendly voice brought Joshua back to life and he coughed once more, turning aside to splutter water to the ground. ”I don’t intend to,” He muttered hoarsely, before sitting up and running his hands through his hair. They came back wetter than before and he grimaced. ”Damn, I hate the water,” Josh muttered, rubbing his face. He glanced up at the fire and then back at Lotus before making a facial expression that was a mixture of discomfort and joy at their escape.
Josh looked around at their surroundings, and sighed. He was exhausted, and now he was still and his body was cold, he was suddenly aware of the aches and pains his troubles had cost him. His chest ached from his fall, and he was sure he had a few bruises. His legs felt as though he’d been tied down and they’d been tugged on by furious imps. His lungs felt fit to burst, and with each touch of the breeze, he felt the hairs on his skin stand to attention. Worst of all was the lack of power. He had no willpower now to go anywhere.
”We probably shouldn’t stay long. They’ll see the fire...are you okay?”
Fay clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes crossing her arms."Calm down pixystick or I'll take tinkerbells light away." She heard Issac say. "I'd like to see you try." Fay mumbled under her breath as she became visible again. "So we are stuck together. Would you rather I leave you? I mean after all you are a Fairy, i am sure you can handle yourself inside the woods, where there is sure to be more guards, but hey, you don't want to be stuck with me right?" Fay glared at him. "I may be just a water fairy but I can handle being on my own even if the woods aren't my territory," she said as she turned her back now facing him. Fay looked into the dark forest taking in her surroundings. The forest was dark and she couldn't see much past her hands. A cold breeze made it's way through the forest and she took off her jacket and stuffed it into her bag.
Fay stretched out her shoulders and adjusted her light tank top so that it hid her tattoo wings the best it could. She closed her eyes and listened to the forest around her. She could hear Issac getting further away but she could also hear something else. A slight crunch of the leaves somewhere in front of her and a clicking of metal, like a gun being loaded and readied to fire. Fay opened her eyes quickly and turned around running towards Issac. She soon ran past him and continued running shouting over her shoulder, "Run, they're coming and they have guns! I may not like you but that doesn't mean I want to see someone die." Fay said as she ran listening for any running water near by. She couldn't hear any but she knew that she was close to some body of water.
Fay tripped on a root and tumbled until she landed in water with a splash. Her face lit up and she instantly stood up in the shallow part of the water before walking up and out of the water. "Issac get behind me unless you want to get frozen and wet." She said as she waited for the guards to get closer. Once she saw them her eyes gave off a slight glow and the breeze kicked up causing her hair to whip around her face. Tendrils of water slowly crept out of the lake and made their way to the different guards' guns. The tendrils wrapped around the guns, completely encircling them with the water. The water then froze around the guns and froze the guards hands to their guns. She turned around so she didn't have to face them and then looked over at Issac. "Your turn Count Dorkcula." She said before facing the lake so she didn't have to see what Issac would do since she wasn't a fan of blood or fighting that much.
Lotus checked her jean pockets hoping she still had her spell book or she would have just given up. When she felt the square bulge in her butt pocket she smiled a little. Good. They could actually survive then. Her book held the answers to...most things. When Lotus actually thought that she could relax the pain and ache all over her body went straight to her attention. Lotus brought her arm up to her face to see the bright red cuts that seem to be infected. If her arm looked like that then what about the rest of her body. A groan escaped her lips. It was a mixture of frustration, agony, and distress.
”We probably shouldn't stay long. They’ll see the fire...are you okay?” Lotus turned to Joshua and smacked him in the back of his head and growled. "Of course i'm not okay." she spat. Though she was pissed it wasn't necessarily at him more like at the current situation that they were in. Lotus picked up a strand of her hair and saw as it flashed different colors. It was all the scientist fault that she had this hair problem. They tied her emotions with the ability to change appearance, of course that appearance meant her hair. They did that so they knew what she was feeling since she always had a poker face. Lotus groaned and let her hand drop with a thud. This day just couldn't get any shittier than it already was. Lotus took in a deep breath and closed her silver orbs.
It was a couple of seconds like that before she was calm and she opened her eyes again. She sat up and staggered to her feet gritting her teeth together as the pain got worse as she elevated. Her stretching limbs were protesting but she pushed on ignoring the pain as much as she could. Lotus grabbed a hold of a tree branch and used it as her support. She coughed again as water was still residing in her lungs. God she felt like hell. Lotus eyed the wall of flames that was just on the other side. She shivered, not just from the cold but at the sheer sight of it. That could have been her over there. In flames.
She turned her head and looked deep into the forest. She knew that there had to be civilization somewhere but she didn't have heightened senses. She was a human with the ability of witch craft at will. "There has got to be people around here...that aren't trying to kill us." She muttered the last part. A look down at herself proved that they needed to take a pit stop. Her clothes were ripped and stained with blood and dirt. She was bruising all over and she was sure that her eyes had bags under them. They needed to stop somewhere safe for the night. Lotus rested her head against the tree bark and breathed out, watching her breath form a white cloud. It was just that cold.
Lilith nodded understanding Eric’s frustration. It must piss Eric off not being able to pin point their location. She will admit the forest was overwhelming, beautiful but still a lot to take in. She’s sure his nose and hearing will get use to their new surroundings later on. She replaced her arm with her hand in his grip and they started jogging in the direction the hawk had pointed out. Lilith’s feet already hurt from before and she was starting to feel the weakness she had felt before. Of course she hadn't eaten in a week, she ‘accidentally’ stabbed the head scientist in the shoulder the last time they tried to experiment on her. The damn woman was so pissed at Lilith she ordered the guards that Lilith couldn't eat for two weeks, she needed her weaker for the next time they tried to experiment.
“Geez I really wish I knew how to use my teleportation that would have come in handy many times before” Lilith grumbled more to herself then to Eric. It pissed her off that she didn't know how to use some of her abilities. She knew they were there she just didn't know how to reach them. Using what little energy she had left Lilith summoned a dead black bear back to its body to keep an eye out for them as they ran. Animal reanimation was easier than human.
Lilith and Eric jogged and ran for a good two hours until Lilith couldn't take it anymore.
Eric I need to stop....” she wheezed, her breathing harsh as she slipped her hand from his and plopped down on the ground, lying on her back. The green grass was cool against her pale skin, soothing her heated body as Lilith tried to catch her breath. She knew they weren't being followed anymore as she mentally looked though the black bear’s eyes. The guards and scientists had lost track of Lilith and Eric ever since they entered the mountainous regions. Those bastards really made it hard for anyone to find this place, it was surrounded by dense forests and large mountains.
“We aren’t being followed so let’s take a break please, I’m a Reaper and unlike you I’m not gifted with incredible stamina, speed or strength and I am pooped” she groaned, already feeling the ache of her muscles and bones her body burning for the unfamiliar distance and terrain. She needed to sleep and eat to regain her strength so if they were to run into anything or anyone she could fight her own battles.
You wouldn’t happen to want to go find me something to eat would you? I don’t care what it is but I haven’t eaten in a week so I’ll eat anything. Please Eric?” Lilith pleaded. If it wasn't for the fact that she was using the rest of her strength to stay awake and keep control of her look out bear then Lilith would have taken control of a dead predator to do her hunting for her. But she didn’t have the strength to control another animal. She felt bad because she usually fended for herself and she didn't want to seem like she was taking advantage of her best friend. But at the moment she seriously felt like she couldn't move, her body. It frustrated Lilith that she felt so weak. Closing her eyes Lilith looked through the eyes of the black bear, deciding to see if she could maybe find the other's. Lilith took control and moved forward in the bears body, the strong scent of flames coursed through the area. That peaked her interest and Lilith commanded the bear move towards it. It did as she willed and the bear now stood in front of a wall of fire. Joshua. The bear shook its head and looked down at the chard bodies. Lilith commanded the bear forward and it walked through the wall, patches of course fur burning instantly, relieving flesh that started to char. It didn't matter though for as long as she controlled it the bear would move forward. Once it crossed through the fire Lilith saw through the bear's eyes the sight of Lotus and Joshua. She got the bear to cross the water and now stood in front of the pair. The bear let out a growl, signalling its presences to the Lotus and Joshua.
By the time she was telling him to get behind her and giving orders while taking on her actions to her 'water pistol', he was already doing it without a care in the world. After she was done, she had to spit out the words,.. "Your turn Count Dorkcula." He wasn't even a dork, sure he had years more smarts than her, and probably lived longer, but does that really count as being a dork? Then there was the Dracula part, it made him laugh because he was still trying to function over the fact anyone was stupid enough to believe the tales of this 'man' who claimed to be a vampire. Sure did make it harder though for those who really were vampires. Which also didn't make anything easier when Isaac was caught. That there is a long story itself.
He stared blankly at the guards that stood there unable to move, scared in fear. "Listen, if you are that scared of us. Why would you bother to work in this line of business." Isaac sighed annoyed. "You damn humans never seem to amaze me. Always doing actions that you end up regretting. Like now for instants." He walked up closer to them as they flinched at the feeling of his finer tips at their skin. "I bet you're regretting coming out here in the first place. Didn't you know though? Weak things should hide from the strong. Every animal understands that, why cant you?" He hinted at how noiseless the forest had become the instant Isaac's eyes started to glow. The glow of his eyes always turned his vibes and aura into that of pure death. It was enough to make one's skin crawl or make them feel sick to the core of fright.
"Here's the thing though. I am feeling generous right now seeing as I already had my fill of meals as it is. So I'll let you go, but,.." He paused and gave off a smirk as he broke their arms. "Consider this as a warning. Tell your boss that if anything else goes on, there will be more than just a warning, there will be war." Not like Isaac would really care if there was war, but he wasn't one to just go along with anything. Plus there was this thing about him being lazy that he just could help about himself.
He let them go as they cried out in pain the whole way. "Tch. I should have at least took some of their blood and saved it for later. Ohwell." He adjusted his backpack on his shoulders and turned around to face Fay. "Oi, bug girl. It's over now. But I should tell you, running away like that, do you really think you could do that every time? What if next time there is no water? Than what do you plan to do?" Isaac closed his eyes and sighed irritated. "You can't even stand the sight of me doing what I do let alone save yourself. Is this all you Fairies could do is run and use your magic? You think that once you vanish it will solve everything? You do realize that just because you turn invisible and think they can't see you that you are ok? I hope you know that this is where you are wrong. This isn't the 14th century anymore. They have ways of seeing you, they have ways of catching you. And they have ways of stripping you from all your powers. Or did you not learn anything from being captured all this time!" He took in a deep breath to calm himself down. She got on his nerves big time, but it's not like he could really hate her for doing her best at times but for some reason she just makes him snap. "Look, I rather not die because you can't use your brain. Do you really want to go back there? Because of you used your powers on them, they know were we are. You think that I was just going to kill them? They have tracking advices in more than one place on their bodies, some even I can't since. If you would have just kept quiet and hid like all you fairies do, it would have been easier to handle." This what he hated about fairies the most. They think that just because they have all this power they can 'stop the world' or whatever it is they think. They never think about the after's until it's too late.
Before she had time to run or vanish Isaac roughly, but gently took her by the arm and started walking off with her in furry. His grip on her was firm so she couldn't go not even if she wanted to. After a while of walking his eyes slowly started to shift back to normal and his mind had become as empty as his expressionless face. There was nothing for him to say now at a time like this and honestly there was nothing he wanted to think about either.
Fay listened to him and was about to turn invisible so she could be on her own but before she could he grabbed her arm. Issac pulled her along behind him as she just walked looking down at her feet her bangs falling in front of her emotionless face. The only way you would be able to see any emotion is if you looked into her eyes, which were filled with slight hurt and pain. Issac's words played through her mind over and over again. "Is this all you Fairies could do is run and use your magic?" and "If you would have kept quiet and hid like all you fairies do, it would have been easier to handle," were the main two phrases floating through her mind. She couldn't figure out if she was angry or upset by those statements.
Fay had had enough of it. She planted her feet into the ground and refused to budge, vampires weren't the only ones with enhanced strength. By causing her skin to become wet where she was being held by the Blood Sucker and pulling her arm away with all her strength she managed to break free of his grip. She backed away a few steps and looked up at him, her chocolate eyes filled with anger that caused them to look darker than normal. "What do you even know about fairies, you know nothing. We may not be the dark type of supernatural like everyone else was back at the house but that doesn't mean you can call us weak!" Fay exclaimed glaring at him. "We can do more than run and use magic, basically all fairies can fly. Did you ever think of that. Any fairy could have flown away from this forest by now! Also water is everywhere, in the air, in the ground, in trees! I can draw power from anything but lakes are the easiest. Oh and I'm sorry that I can't live up to your standards of loving blood and fighting. I'm not a vampire now am I. I'm just a simple little weak fairy who doesn't know anything. I just don't get it, you don't have the right to talk bad about my race. I may put up with you teasing me because it is normal. But don't you ever, and I mean EVER, talk bad about Fairies. That is where I draw a line. Now if you excuse me, I need to rest because I don't have natural stamina like you!" Fay then turned away from him anger still fuming inside her.
Fay walked over to a tree and sat down leaning against it, facing away from Issac. That was the first time she has ever yelled at anyone, it was just a first for a lot of things. Fay sat against the tree staring into the dark forest infront of her ignoring the world around her. 'Who is he to judge my race, I'm the only fairy he has ever known. There has never been another fairy in the house before me. God, I can put up with his teasing, it's normal but I will not deal with that. I may hate being alone but I will leave him if he keeps dissing Fairies,' Fay thought as she let her mind wander.
Image Image Isaac felt her plant her feet plant and arm break free, but he put not effort into holding her in her place, letting go at the same time she made her arm wet. "You really think that just because water is everywhere, that it would save you?" His brows frowned in anger. "Oh and flying, honestly, you are not the only flying creature out there." He looked up at the sky. "Last I checked, it was the most dangerous spot to be." Which was true, it was so wide and open, you had no place to hide in the sky, an easy place to be caught.
He looked at her, his eyes becoming serious. "Not all fairies are as good as you are, some do things even you could hardly think a fairy would do, so don't give me crap on how 'fairies' aren't like us 'blood suckers', when in truth, they can be worse." Isaac spoke his words with truth, he has his own experience in the matter when it comes to most of the creature out there in this world. If anything he'd know what he is talking about. For all she knew he was just a kid who knows shit of the world and only knows that of the walls of that place. But something inside him told him that he should not speak about this with Fay anymore. He had more right to talk bad about any race than she could understand, but bringing that up would mean he'd have to explain himself, it was something he wasn't up for and something he had no time to make.
He smirked at her last bit of words. "But calling us blood suckers and fighters as if we all do that, is ok with you right? No one can speak badly of your kind, but you can of others. The kettle really is black." He stood there watching her as she stopped and sat down. His body relaxed as the wind blew by his face, sweeping away all the smell of that a fairy had. "It's not like we choose what we could eat. Be thankful you can eat." He mumbled mostly to himself that last part. Isaac was never able to taste the foods that humans or anyone else ate, he could never have the same experience they get. All he could do was smell it, but he already knew that taste is stronger than smell. Sure he could eat it and act like he enjoys it, but there really was no point. Even though he is part human, the only thing that he got human about him that was human, is feelings, but even at times those fade.
Tightening his bag around him, he closed his eyes and slowly his body became motionless. He was listening to things around him, he was smelling the scents that brushed through and he let his scenes fly out. He was searching for the others without moving from his spot, if he had to spend more time with the fairy he'd lose his mind.
He stopped and sighed, looking down at the worn out Reaper on the ground. Eric knew that, if he didn’t get her something to eat, Lilith would refuse to budge from where they were at, and would moan the whole way as he piggybacked her to the village. Though, from the looks of it, there was a high possibility that even if Eric got Lilith something to eat, he would still have to piggyback her to the village they had set off towards. Looking at his hawk, he nodded and the bird immediately shot up and started circling before suddenly shooting off in another direction.
“We aren’t being followed so let’s take a break please, I’m a Reaper and unlike you I’m not gifted with incredible stamina, speed and strength and I am pooped.” Eric laughed as Lilith grumbled from the ground as he walked forward and sat down on the ground beside her. “Don’t worry, Lilith, I’ve already send my hawk off to find you some food. Anyways, I could just carry you around the place, if you don’t mind.” He shrugged and flexed his right arm, jokingly, as he chuckled lightly. His expression turned serious as he turned to look up at the sky and then back down again.
“I’ll go and get something for you as soon as Ben sees something, okay? But will you be safe by yourself?” He felt a large amount of concern for the slightly younger lady, his one and only best friend. Though he knew that she was strong, and though it was currently the night during which their powers should be at their strongest, she was weak from her lack of food. Eric sighed and stood up straight as he rubbed his nose again for the millionth time as he started to figure out the different scents, the tingling receding as he took deep breaths and looked around, his eyes turning into a light amber as he looked around them, listening and spying for anything Lilith could eat.
Suddenly, his hawk landed on his shoulder and pecked him on top of his head. He winced and looked at the hawk, “Found something?” The hawk let out a high-pitched screech as it stated that it had caught sight of a doe, not to far away from where they were at, that was grazing in a meadow not too far away. Eric nodded and looked at Lilith, “I will keep Ben with you, he will come and find me if something happens. Hide, stay safe. I’ll be back soon.” He gently placed Ben on Lilith’s shoulder, making sure that the hawk didn’t harm the girl with his talons as Eric examined the two one last time.
Nodding to himself, reassured that they would be safe, Eric started running towards the direction the hawk had told him about. After Lilith was out of sight, he let out a hawk-like shriek and shapeshifted, as his arms bent and turned into wings, feathers sprouting all over his body, his legs turning into talons. Eric struggled into the air- he looked just like a hawk, albeit a little bit big for one, and fully black in color- and managed to coincide with an air stream, and sped along in the sky. By God, does this feel glorious. Eric chuckled in his mind as he kept his head down, his hawk eyes perceiving everything that went on in the forest bed. He noticed the meadow that Ben was talking about, but no doe in sight. He cursed and flew on, but worry grew in his heart. I should not drag this on for too long.
Eric picked up his speed, flapping his wings more frequently as he sped over the forest, but thankfully, only after a short while, he noticed the doe. Thank goodness. Eric positioned himself over the doe as he suddenly transformed back to his human state, but with the claws and fangs of a predator. He was finished with the doe in a few mere seconds. Wiping away the blood from his chin, he grabbed the doe, placed it around his shoulders, and ran as fast as he could back to Lilith, worry once again etched in every feature on his face.
By the time he made it back to Lilith, it had already been around an hour. He stumbled through the foliage as he ran back to where he had left her. "Lilith! Ben!"
Joshua Ustrina
"Hey!" Josh protested, his anger swiftly returning as Lotus clipped him around the head. He was sore enough without her adding to it, and without him, she'd probably be lying in a ditch somewhere dead or dying. He was just about to turn around and push her back into the stream when he shivered and groaned softly. He felt like hell. Literally, the definition of hell. Instead of retaliating, he just sent her a cold look that said simply 'I could kill you'.
Joshua almost missed his cell. There, at least, it was warm and relatively safe. He knew what was coming and happening, and most of all...he wasn't wet. "Fuck this," He muttered softly before hauling himself to his feet. He staggered a little and found himself leaning against a tree for support for a moment before he lifted his hands to his soaking shirt and threw it off. The clothing was only making him colder, and at least this way when he was dry...he would stay dry. As soon as that happened, he knew he'd warm up.
"There has got to be people around here...that aren't trying to kill us."
"Well, you're going to have to stay away from me then," Josh muttered, his head still ringing from the blow she had sent to his head. He sighed, exhaling slowly and shook his head, "Look...if we follow the stream downstream, we might come to a town or something..."
That was when the bear arrived, it's fur singed and burnt from its' journey through the wall of fire that was only just starting to die out. It seemed to materialize out of the air, tall and shaggy, and silent and Joshua froze. This was it. They'd evaded the guards, only to be consumed by a bear. The irony would have been amusing if he had enough energy to appreciate it. Joshua had no more defences, and was just about to shout to Lotus to run when he realized that all the beast was doing was...well, watching him. Joshua blinked, frowned, and then looked back at the creature, and a glimmer in it's beady black eyes was almost familiar.
"Lilith!" His voice was just a hoarse croak, and Josh coughed softly before calling to Lotus, "It's Lilith. She's not far, I think...Go on then, bear," He added awkwardly, "Take us to her"
Lotus grumbled as Joshua yelled at her. At the moment, she couldn't care less. She was trying to get her point across. Lotus hated when people were over protective but she knew he was just looking out for her. If it wasn't for is quick thinking they would have been back at the Heart House getting the punishment of their lives. Lotus sighed rested her head on the tree letting the water from her clothes and skin onto the ground. This sucked.
"Fuck this," Lotus turned her head slightly to see Joshua taking off his drenched shirt showing his chiseled chest. She averted her gaze and sighed again. Lotus wished she could just take off her clothes without a care in the world but like any woman that would be very flipping embarrassing. Lotus lifted her hands to her hair and tied it with rubber and she had on her wrist. She had just noticed it not to long ago but never got the time to use it.
"Well, you're going to have to stay away from me then," Lotus rolled her eyes and groaned softly running her hand over her face. 'So childish, he's still on that.' Of course she knew she had a good arm and could hit well it couldn't still be hurting. It was just a slight smack on the back of the head. No harm done. "Look...if we follow the stream downstream, we might come to a town or something..." Lotus looked down the stream in hopes of seeing a village of some sort. A roar pulled her attention away from the stream to a burned up bear.
Lotus tilted her head slightly in confusion and shock. The bear just looked at them not worried that's it skin was still slightly sizzling from the fire.Lotus backed up a little from the bear not sure to fear it and run or just watch it. She was an animal lover herself but this is a whole new level. "Lilith!" Lotus took a side glance at Joshua who had just yelled out a another cell mates name. "It's Lilith. She's not far, I think...Go on then, bear," Lotus almost laughed at his awkwardness. She was just like that in a way but instead of talking she doesn't. "Take us to her" Lotus walked up to the bear and grabbed a hold of the fur that wasn't bloody.
"I'm ready to get out of here...now."
The bear grunted at the pair's demanding tone and started walking. It would take them a few hour's to reach Lilith and Eric. But even so it started making its way Joshua and Lotus following behind the giant decaying creature.
Lilith's blue eyes flickered open and she glanced over at the hawk on her shoulder.
"Well hello there little guy" she cooed at the bird as she slowly sat up, careful so not to knock the hawk off. She glanced around and wondered how long Eric had been gone, she had heard everything he said and had stayed hidden. Then she heard the sound of leaves crunching and the sound of Eric's worried voice calling to her and the hawk. Lilith just smiled fondly as she saw Eric enter the small clearing. She felt a like better, having zoned out in the bear's head it felt like she had slept somewhat even though she was wide awake.
"Ben? Is that your name?" Lilith asked the hawk making it chirp.
"You know if you were dead I could understand you....well not understand but I could read your thoughts, but sadly talking to cute animals like you is Eric's department" Lilith spoke casually with the bird, whom made small noise's in response. Then Lilith's eyes focused on Eric again, whom looked worried as usual. She just smiled and slowly rose to her feet, happy to see Eric got back well and that he hadn't come back empty handed.
"Your such a worry wart you know that right?" Lilith giggled as she slowly walked over to Eric. Her legs wobbled slightly and her muscles groaned in protest but Lilith ignored it. Eric was already worried and she would feel even worse if she worried him more. Lilith's eyes then fixated on the doe as she neared.
"Put her down and lets crack her open I'm hungry as hell, those stupid bastards wouldn't let me eat cause I...may have stabbed the head scientists in the shoulder" Lilith grinned widely happy with herself that she had dealt some sort of damage on the bitch of a woman before Lilith had left. Just then Lilith's stomach growled and the sound echoed in the tree's, frightening the hawk on her shoulder. It fluttered off her and landed back on Eric, making Lilith laugh.
"Sorry little guy" she giggled.
"Oh and guess what I have good news, I found Joshua and Lotus and are escorting them here to us as we speak, hopefully Isaac and Fay will find us on their own......actually lets just pray they survive each other company" Lilith smiled. She was pretty damn sure this was the most smiling and laughing she has ever done in her life. Ever since she came to the Heart House her life has been hell, the only upside to the place was that she met Eric.
"Alright lets eat, I'll take a large piece of flank and the heart please" Lilith ordered playfully and licked her lips in hunger, her stomach rumbling loudly once again.
Eric chuckled back at Lilith, glad that she looked fine though rather hungry- especially at the sight of the doe that was draped around his shoulder. Thank God nothing happened while I was gone. He cast a wary eye around them, making sure that no humans were near as he took a few steps forward towards Lilith. “Put her down and lets crack her open I’m hungry as hel, those stupid bastards wouldn’t let me eat cause I…may have stabbed the head scientists in the shoulder.”
Unable to bear it Eric exclaimed, “You what!?” and started roaring with laughter when Ben flew away from Lilith frightened by the sound of her stomach rumbling with hunger. Wiping tears away from his eyes, his stomach aching from laughing to much, he placed the doe on the ground and ruffled the hawk’s head feathers, grinning at Lilith as she apologized to Ben as if he could understand. However, Eric’s smile immediately slipped off the moment Lilith mentioned Joshua and Lotus, reminding him that they were not outside on a picnic…but rather, running away from life-long imprisonment.
“The vampire and Fay will survive; actually, I’d rather hope that the vampire doesn’t make it over. Since young he’s constantly tried to find ways to displease me just based on the differences our species are ‘supposed’ to have.” He shook his head as he threw the doe down from his shoulder and onto the ground, rolling his sleeves up as he judged the doe that he had caught earlier by the meadow. Fine, lean, should make a pretty good feast. “I’m just saying I’m not ruddy going to try and find the fellow, he’ll have to survive on his own, eh?”
He continued to grumble as he made the nails on his hands turn into claws, and knelt down beside the doe. I’m sorry. Eric thought as he suddenly lunged his hand towards the chest of the doe, pulling off a long strand of flesh that was connected between the ribs and the hip of the animal. Eric’s eyes narrowed as he felt the flesh heed to his strength, pulling off from the carcass as if it were connected to the bones that were now exposed in the air with nothing but thin strings. He attempted to pull off the fur on the piece of meat but shrugged and placed it aside. Licking a bit of meat off of the hand he had just used, he used his other to break the ribs of the doe as if they were twigs and grabbed the heart and gently pulled it out so as to not break it and placed it on the long strip of meat he had placed aside.
“Here,” he said, handing them to Lilith as he licked his lips, his teeth already canines and his eyes like that of a wolf already. Eric handed a piece of meat to Ben as well, as if to appease the hawk for what was about to happen. Without warning, Eric transformed, his body convulsing upon itself to reveal a dark pelted wolf. Snarling, Eric once again approached the carcass and dug in, pulling at the lean flesh as he lost most of his human decency to the animal inside of him. Growling with delight, he looked up from his feast and howled at the full moon, blood covering his muzzle and face. He loved the feeling of the blood dripping from his fur, and the taste of the doe-flesh was sweet in his mouth. Lilith. With no reason at all, Eric suddenly looked down to watch his reaper friend, an almost innocent-like look on his wolven face, as he sniffed, his nose twitching to aside as Eric let out a sneeze.
Lilith Grim
Image
"Thanks" Lilith grabbed the pieces's of the doe Eric had ripped off for her. The heart of a creature always held such life and power, a highly valued feast to a Reaper, whom could grabbed hold of that energy and use it as their own. Instantly Lilith grabbed the heart and sunk her teeth into it and tried to pull a chunk off yet the tough meat wouldn't let go. Its not like I have fangs like someone.
Her blue eyes looked at the dark wolf that was Eric. Lucky. Is it strange that she was envious of any creature with fangs? That they could rip something apart easily with them and here she was, mouth glue to a bloody heart, crimson liquid trailing down her chin and adsorbing into the collar of her sweat shirt and no matter how she tried the damn meat wouldn't rip from her blunt teeth. Grumbling to herself Lilith summoned her scythe, altering its size so it was no bigger then a butter knife. She skillfully cut all her meat into squares, cut off the fur on the flank then popped a chink of heart meat into her mouth. The meat and blood was sweet on her tongue and she felt instantly better then she had before. The black hole in her stomach happy that she was finally eating. While eating Lilith glanced around the small area they were in, it was still night out and the area was almost pitch black. Looking down at the doe Lilith could still sense its soul within so with a flick of her wrist a brightly glowing yellowish sphere left the doe's body and floated over to Lilith. With some concentration Lilith was able to split the soul into three pieces and each floated over to where Lilith commanded it. The area they were in was now lighter then before letting Lilith, whom didn't have night vision like someone else, to see clearly around the area. She
"That better now I can see my food" Lilith said as she finished off her food, wiped her face and turned back to Eric, only to see him looking at her then moments later sneeze.
"That was so cute, is the poor puppy cold?" Lilith teased, smiling widely.
