Erik brushes his hand over a few covers, having a cart full of books already picked out behind him. He grabs a few more covers before dragging his harvest out the library door, having not seen a librarian anyway. He notices a ginger rush into a room, and another brunette walk into another room the opposite way of the library. He pulls the cart over to the stairs and carefully pushes it down. He didn't want to slip up and harm all those books.

Madeline pushes herself off the ground and dries her eyes, leaning her hand onto the dresser for support. She wishes she were back home, and wants to comfort Alick. To brush his light brown hair to the side and tell him that everything's ok. To sing to him one more time, and let him know that when she grows up she'll take him away with her. She was never going to leave him, not with
him.
"Maddy, why do you let Dad treat you like that?" Alick asks, his voice soft, and his bright blue eyes wavering slightly. I look away, the wood flooring occupying my view.
"I have to because if I don't Mom will know and she will be in more pain than a bit of harsh words cause me." I reply, my view never leaving the floor. I must look so weak right now, not even able to meet my own brothers eyes. Why does he look up to me, I'm weak and pathetic. I don't even have the heart to tell my own mother that I'm being abused. "Mom loves your father Alick, and if she found out it would hurt her so badly. We can't put her through that."
"So you have to get hurt instead?" He asks, and my head snaps up. His head is tilted and he has a worried yet curious look. One hand is gripping the blanket, and the other is on his chin.
"I have to protect both you and mom, if this is what it takes then so be it." I hug him, and brush his hair out of his face before kissing his forehead and leaving. "I love you Alick, don't worry." I smile and close my eyes, "I'll be fine, just always remember. . . I'm your guardian angel so I'll always protect you.She walks over to the door and exits the room, leaning against the other side as it closes. "Ow" She groans and notices a boy with green hair pushing a cart down the stairs. A second glance tells that it's filled with books. "He looks like a ten year old" She mumbles, and he looks up from his task.
