Kisa

Sleep had been the most important thing to Kisa and so, mostly spent her time napping and sleeping. Food was her second priority other then sleep, and when not sleeping, she was eating what little food there was. Well, there was plenty of food full of fat, calories, and protein, but certainly not enough for a large mutated Jaguar. Her instinctive need to gorge herself made her entirely twitchy and prone to hissing at her fellow allies when in her Jaguar form.

Kisa would often watch the tiger shifter closely. She had never seen her in the Lab, or before that, but something kept her on her toes when the striped cat was around. Maybe it was her Jaguar genes or what, but she avoided Kyra like the plague. Every time the tiger came in, she went outside, or moved to a different room. And when they were in the same room, they avoided meeting eyes and would hiss or growl when the other got too close to the other.

Kyra

Kyra was doing terrible. She was starving, and trying to sate her appetite one night had eaten what human delicacies layed out. While the food has tasted rich and foreign while eating, she had later been throwing up all that she had eaten into the toilet. So, cautious and wary of human food, she had began starving herself and only eating what she caught, which wasn't much as she didn't venture more than fifteen meters from the house. Results from this starvation, had been sudden and rapid weight loss, along with a need for more sleep.

Her sleeping quarters was a simple corner of the house where she slept in her tiger form. Although, she was suddenly forcing herself to make due without sleep. The only way she slept was in her tiger shape, and with the whole starving, she didn't want to unexpectedly lose control of her animal instincts and eat one of her fellow mutants.

Unlike Kisa, Kyra wasn't spending most of her time sleeping. Remembering what training she had in the Lab, she had already started some semblance of a patrol route and began checking the entire house, even checking in with the others on a daily basis. It was all very... similar to the Games. Many times she had to berate herself for regretting her decision to join the Escapees. It's just another objective I have to achieve that's all it is.

Over the next few days, Hawke seemed to relax around Aileen. The girl spent most nights on the sofa, sprawled out with one leg hooked over the back, dead to the world--except for the occasional nightmare or crash from her charges. She had found Hawke on the floor every time it came from his room; despite his longing for a bed, his body was so accustomed to the harder cots he dragged blankets to the floor. One night he had torn a strip from a sheet, wrapping it around his head over and over until it covered like his lost hood. He had been found like that, and the woman had panicked. It had taken him forever to explain that it was normal for him, and yes, he could breathe.

She had also, it seemed, taken a liking to Barrow. She had shown Hawke, who was simply paranoid, and the ex-guard how to work the building's security systems. She worked slowly, explaining that her grandfather had based it on colors, so she could turn things on and off before she could actually count or spell.

"Green, blue, red, green: systems off, or "I am awake". It'll beep a few times; he used to use that as an alarm clock." "White, red, yellow, purple: "Who is it?" It's just the outside cameras." "Black, yellow, red, red: "Intruder outside." Lock doors; use blue instead of read the second time to turn off lights as well." There were all kinds of combinations, but the one that stuck in his head most was "Purple, red, blue, black: Basement unlock. Alarm sound. "Time to Go." He said to never, ever use it. It was only if someone truly cruel found us... I suppose it applies to the Lab. He said other things will happen too, but that is all I needed to know... The colors were scary to me, as a healer: the colors of deep bruises, and dead tissue. Something would have to be very wrong..... I hope we don't have to use it, and I will use every weapon in this house down to the butter knives before I do. But If it happens, you use the panel in the pantry's right wall. There are other panels too, they go to other places in the house. I used to scare my friends, playing hide and seek with them. the right panel leads to the basement."

Autumn had quickly gathered up a few spiders and her scythe a few days before only to be stopped by her "father" on her way to the parking garage. He had explained that she had to wait now, it seemed that at least one of the experiments that were sent out had quickly turned to helping the escapees and some scientists thought she might as well. The woman argued with him for a long while until she had been calmed enough to be taken back to her cell for the time being. Over the days of waiting for when she would be allowed out to hunt the self-proclaimed queen of spiders honed her abilities with her various spiders and trained with her scythe with the few guards that actually train with her.

Now she had been sent word that the location of the escapees had been found and she would be sent to retrieve them. Autumn quickly left from her cell with a smile on her face and twirling her scythe in her right hand. She only had three spiders with her at the moment each stashed away within her long hair. "It has been far too long since we have been allowed to play outside, but we get to have fun again my babies! And if we are lucky maybe the person we are partnered with will be cute and easily swayed into letting us kill and keep a few bodies." She continued on her way talking to her spiders discussing ways they could capture the escaped experiments.

When she finally arrived where the cars were kept she stopped and groaned seeing Dax. "Wonderful. There goes most of my fun I was planning," the young woman muttered before walking over to the person the scientists decided to partner her with. She mentally told herself to make the best of it and see if maybe she could make the man take a detour off the path he normally treaded. She smiled as she leaned against him placing her head on his shoulder, "Daxy! It has been a while. Why haven't you come to visit me? I thought you were starting to like me after that last assignment we went on." She looked up at him fluttering her eyelashes, "As compensation you could allow me to drive this once. I promise I have gotten better."

Dray
Image
Dray spent most of his nights on the floor by the window. On the night they arrived he had fallen asleep hanging half off the bed and was awake within a few hours sprawled out on the hardwood. The bed was soft but too squishy after his countless nights on a cot or concrete; surprisingly the wood floors were softer compared to that. Instead of trying to use the bed he gathered blankets and laid where he could see the sky as he fell asleep. He was particularly fond of the little lights that he could see once the sun disappeared and the sky darkened.
Though on occasion he would toss and thrash from nightmares and end up tangled in the blankets, he still remained silent through them as he always had before. In the morning he would spend a few moments wandering the hallway confusedly until he remembered where he was and that he was not confined. A nod to whoever happened to be in the kitchen was his ‘good morning’ and he spent the rest of the time within proximity of Hawke or Aileen. The healer woman showed him and Olek the security measures of the place they were living in and he made a point to try and remember them as well, just in case. He wasn’t going to be helpless for when it was time to put all the security practices into play.
After his usual routine of detangling himself from his blankets and peeking into the hallway suspiciously he made his way to the kitchen and picked up a piece of fruit from the counter. He found out quickly that they were much better than the kind they were always given in the Lab, the fruit here was crisp and sweet, not bruised, bitter, or moldy. He bit into what he took for his breakfast and went to the room with the couches, living room Aileen had told him it was called. Instead of the normal bars of sun coming into the room there was another addition sitting on the couch quietly.
Aramay had been bed ridden nearly from the moment they arrived and he hadn’t planned on seeing her out of that bed until she stopped breathing. He figured she was a lot stronger than she looked if she was up and moving around now. He walked over and sat on the couch near her, pulling his feet up so he could rest his arm on his knee and sit back against the cushions. Everything is so plush around here… He always felt like he was going to fall through the furniture from how soft it always was.

Dax

He looked up when he saw who is charge would be was heading towards him and the vehicle. Autumn was her name, he partially didn’t understand why the scientists insisted on giving the subjects names, or letting them keep their old ones. If they wanted to see them as animals then naming them defeats the purpose. However, their personalities were clearly more complex than animals, not to mention that most of them could still speak and interact with people.
He sighed and shook his head at the girl. ”No Autumn, I will not let you drive this time. Too much is at stake for me to take a chance on getting caught by actual authorities. Would be best for everyone if we both did our jobs okay?” He carefully detached the girl and opened on of the doors for her to get inside, noting that she had gotten her favorite toy back and no doubt had spiders stashed somewhere on her person.
He got into the driver’s seat and got the vehicle going. ”I see they let you have your toys back though. I’m sure they’ll let you do as you please with them once manage to capture the escapees. That sound alright with you?” He knew it was always best to keep Autumn in a good mood just in case she decided not to follow orders and go overboard with her actions. He didn’t always worry that she would go after him, he had made sure he was always on her good side, as close to a friend as he would allow himself to be to make sure he was reasonably safe around her.

Olek

Olek finished up his drink and rinsed it out in the sink. His footfalls were light for a man of his size, he made little noise as he strode away from the kitchen. He caught a glimpse of Dray and Ara in the living room as he passed it on his way to his room. He finished his morning run and inspection of the outer perimeter about an hour ago. Everything was taken care of on his end for the most part. The security systems were working, but the last protocol that Aileen had spoken to him about still bothered him. Why did Aileen's grandfather have a protocol that was only used as a last resort? He pondered the question quite thoroughly. What was in that basement?

He shook his head. Lets pray that we never have to find out. Olek was very displeased with how Ara was doing. His next item on the agenda was to get in contact with Aileen for a bit. They needed to have a serious discussion about Ara. It was quite evident that she was dying, and that they didn't have the necessary resources to keep her alive. Olek rarely saw Kisa, so he wasn't too concerned with her well being. He simply wasn't aware of any problems with the woman. Kyra on the other hand was having trouble eating, she checked in frequently so it was easy to notice.

Olek had gotten much better at controlling certain parts of his mind. It was difficult at first, but during Olek's morning exercises, he made a point to discipline his fractured mind as well as his body. He was a long way away from being able to communicate with Kyra mentally, but he was getting there. One day at a time.

The former security guard stalked through the halls, checking on what munitions that the house had. Olek was very pleased with the amount of firepower that the house contained. The place was built to last a short siege at first glance. If Olek had a rifle, he could do some damage to an invading party if he caught it early enough.

As Olek arrived at his room his hand hovered over the nightstand that contained his sidearm. He felt vulnerable without it, but he didn't want to scare the others. After a few moments of self argument, he eventually decided to clip the holster onto his belt. Better safe than sorry. Olek was willing to risk disapproval for everyone's safety. After that he set out to find Aileen, walking through the halls with his rigid militaristic-esque demeanor.

Over the past few days Chris was thoroughly enjoying his time back outside. He could honestly say that they were some of the best times he's had in recent memory, though this was plainly obvious to everyone that saw him. Most of the others either didn't seem to enjoy being outside or were better at hiding it, Chris however has never been very good at hiding his feelings. He spent most of his time around the others and enjoying any conversations he could find himself in. As someone who was for the most part unable to interact with anyone that didn't pose an immediate threat to him and spent most of his time in a cell he was taking full advantage of his more open surroundings and close proximity to others. He also visited Aramay whenever she seemed up to visitors. He felt bad for her she was clearly in a lot of pain from her still ongoing changes and Chris understood just how much that could hurt, and he hoped some company would cheer her up a little and lessen the pain somehow. When he was first mutated he was in a lot of pain himself and found it very hard to walk for a few weeks, though Aramay's changes looked a lot more sever and painful than his own. When he wasn't spending time around the others he was exploring both the house and the surrounding area usually in his dog form.

When Chris woke up he stretched his arms out a bit, left the room, and headed down towards the kitchen. As he made his way down there he came across Olek in the halls, He looked like he was looking for something or someone and Chris got the sense it was important so he gave a quick nod, and a somewhat cheerily but still sleepy sounding good morning to greet the man and then continued down the hall. He hadn't seen much of Kisa, she seemed to prefer her solitude which was probably for the best seeing as how she still seemed to be. Kyra however he had seen as little of these past few days and while not entirely trusting of her Chris decided to give her the benefit of the doubt for now, After all she seemed to be doing patrols around the house maybe she did really run from the lab like the rest of them.

When he reached the living room he saw Dray and noticed that Aramay had managed to move from her room on to the living room couch. He was surprised he wasn't expecting to see her move around like this at least not so soon. He decided to skip breakfast for the day. Instead he settled on one of the empty couches in the living room.

#, as written by Aramay
It shouldn't have been a surprise to Ara for feeling exhaustion after cleaning herself up and moving to the couch. But it did, reminding her just how out of it she was. She noticed neither Dray, nor Chris when they came in. Her eyes were locked onto nothing in particular like a curled up and covered statue with just her breathing and occasional slow blink to show that she still had life in her gaunt face. "Holmes...are you still there?" She jumped as though shaking awake after catching herself sleep talking. Her eyes widen and dart around the room in confusion. Aramay's eyes Chris and Dray as though they were complete strangers for a few long moments, before her memories reminded her of who they were. Blinking and giving her head a light shake eases her back against the couch.

Concern slowly worms through her. "...thought I was doing better." She recovered just enough to recognize how weak she became in such a short amount of time. It was like having a hot, heavy blanket weighing down on every part of her, yet it was as though her blood was running cold in her veins. That's how she could describe it as anyways. The temptation for her to just close her eyes again and drift off was incredibly strong. There was no way she could go another day without making some sort of progress in the of eating department than having the equivalent of mashed baby food shoved in her face. It was more pleasant than that slurry Holmes gave to her through a tube. Now she was finding out that it did more to help her than leaving a bad taste in her mouth.

Looking back to the other two in the room; she remembered speaking with Chris. Speaking in a raspy tone that was just loud enough for them to hear. "I don't, remember half what we talked about." On the otherhand she did remember feeling better when he started visiting her. She never remembered him leaving the room. Most likely because she kept falling asleep before he did so. As for Dray, the only memories she had of him were of him being on the truck, or was he inside? He always looked guarded so it was even more of a surprise to see him sitting on the same couch as her. Her hands loosened on the sheets she was wrapped up in, unable to keep much of a grip on anything for very long. She tried to assess how she looked to them by how they looked at her. Which wasn't easy because she her vision would start to blur if she didn't blink frequently.

Edur was enjoying her time here. Not only was she able to wake up on her own time (no guards to knock on her cell) but everything was just so interesting. It seemed that everywhere she looked something new was waiting for her.

She had spent almost an hour looking at the oven before being told what it was.

Other then that Edur split her time between being with Chris, Olek, and following the healer around. She hasn't spent much time around the others. Kisa still scared her and Aramay always seemed too hurt to hang around. As for Chris and Hawke the two were hidden away, or just not near her.

Now Edur was waking and stretched out in the large bed. That may be the best thing she had experienced here. A bed was so much more comfortable then whatever they had back at The Lab. Edur wouldn't even call it a bed anymore, not when she had slept in this thing.

Yawning she got up she trudged slowly to the living room. Besides the bed room this was her favorite part of the house. She could lounge out on a couch which, while not as comfortable as a bed was still heaven on earth.

Entering the room Edur found she was not the only one up. Not suprising as she liked to sleep late. Smiling softly at each person she climbed onto the couch that Chris sat in.

Kisa

Kisa yawned, blinked her eyes in a sleepy manner and began to stretch... and tearing the floor up with her claws while doing so. She didn't seem to care that she was ruining the floor or messing up her sleeping place. Completely ignoring the messed floor, she shifted into her human form where she quickly dressed into a tux or school uniform of some sort built for men.

She walked out into the hallway and over to where her fellow mutants were gathered. "What's the fuss about?" She answered her own question by simply glancing down at the sick mutant on the couch. Aramay. A rumbling growl began from her chest as she thought of what a nuisance the sickly mutant was being. Can't they see what should be done? Kisa walked over to the kitchen area and began searching for some tasty morsels. We should kill her and eat her. That way she won't hold us back when the next attack comes.

Kisa wasn't an idiot, and knew that the Lab would send its most loyal disciples after them and that it was in a fact a when they attack, not an if they attack. Good thing that stupid striped cat is actually good at something She thought of how the tigress appeared to be looking out for them as she constantly patrolled the area. Kisa shrugged, as if physically shrugging of the thoughts of attacks and striped tigers and opened a can of noodle soup with her bare hands and chugged it down without it heating up.

Kyra

Kyra, currently sitting on a tree branch outside, was ignoring the grumbling coming from her stomach. Uh, she placed a hand on her stomach, so hungry... She looked down at the forest floor and then over to the house where her group of escapees were currently lodging thinking of how easily it would be to sneak off and take some poor creature for sustenance.

A sudden instinctive urge to protect what belonged to her pushed her need for food out of her mind. No, I can't leave them. Kyra dropped out of the tree and landed softly taking the 30 foot drop like nothing. She made her way into the house and found mostly everyone in the living room. She didn't take a seat but instead sat on of the arms of the couch, the farthest from the others. She was only able to sit still for a about thirty seconds before she felt the need to move come upon her, causing her to walk back outside and propel herself onto the roof.

The feeling of being in a high place gave her a sense of calm allowing her to be still for the moment. She sat, and from what appears to be meditation from a distance, began listening to the world around her.

Kyra could hear the chatter of the mutants inside the house as if she were right back with them. Noisy two-leggeds. She suddenly missed her cell back at the Lab, the metal walls protecting her from the full onslaught of noises in the world. Her ears twitched at the sound of a bird flying overhead.

She sighed softly as Dax told her that he would be driving and they should both do their jobs. She always did her job, just sometimes she might go a little beyond her job description. Autumn got into the car and put her scythe gently in the back seat. With the mention of her toys she looked at him and gave a gleeful giggle, one that would give a sane person a cold chill down their spine if they knew her, "Yes they did! My daddy had been able to get me assigned to help with the escapees. And he said if I did a good job I will get a special surprise."

She smiles as she leaned the seat back and closed her eyes feeling her three spiders move within her hair to get better situated. "Alright then since you seem to not be in the mood for any flirting I guess we should get to business. A few of the escapees have cat mutations so it wouldn't be a surprise if we could draw at least one away from the rest of the group by having it chase a spider." She opened one eye and looked at her partner on this mission, "Seeing as how the group had stayed together to get away from the lab I would guess that when they found that one cat is missing everyone would go out looking."

She closed her eye back and stayed silent for a moment contemplating what the next step could be. Autumn wasn't even sure that all of the group was still together really. All the Lab knew of was the location of a hunter that had joined with the escapees. They could have easily just left the person behind or everyone had already split up in their own directions. Well that would be bad since she hadn't brought any spiders that could track, but her and Dax could easily figure something out surely. Besides on the other hand was that they had all stayed together.

Aileen smiled a little, watching as the group slowly gathered. She was surprised to see Aramay there. Frankly she was worried about the girl. She hadn't tried healing someone who was both animal and human. Not to her extent, where the body was both at once. Healing the others had been easy, because they'd been in one form or the other. She was terrified of what might happen if she tried. Although the group seemed to be relaxing around her, becoming as comfortable in her house as she was, there was something tense in the air. Fear. Dread. Those things that make waiting in the room of someone dying unbearable, that feeling of being trapped into watching or being a part of something no one wanted to be anywhere near.

"They're coming, aren't they? Maybe not today or tomorrow, but soon. They'll find us...That's what you're thinking, what you're afraid of still..." She shuddered, cursed at herself for possibly putting that fear in them just now. "Well, if they are, we should have a plan B, right? Keep them from getting us..."

Hawke twitched, his head down as he listened. Hard to understand how someone could be a genius and an idiot at the same time. The lab would send their craziest, the ones loyal because they either didn't know better, or were only interested in the pain and torture of others. "Alright. But what exactly can we do? Plan A, we fight and kill them all--or they kill us, or possibly both. Plan B, we have established: we run. We run and dash about like frightened rabbits, into another burrow. But what happens when they find us again, smoke us out of that one? Or if they guess places we go next and pick the right one, blocking us off? They won't forget about us. Not ever. It's just like the Games, but extended. No arena, just the world. Kill or be killed." He looked at Olek. He didn't quite think of him as friend yet, but he did feel drawn to the guy, knew they had a better chance with someone mostly normal on their side. We have to evacuate now, further. Something isn't right about any of this. As long as we've been gone, they should have lost the trail by now. So why haven't we been able to relax, and shake them out of our heads for a moment? He thought, hoping Barrow would catch some hint of his thoughts from his gaze. He glanced at Dray and the cats much the same way.

Olek stopped in the door way to the living room just in time to hear the discussion that was unfolding. His eye hovered on Ara, he stopped to listen to Aileen and Hawke, but his gaze was still unwavering. It was his obligation to get Ara help. He only had a few options, letting her die was not on the list. His eyes calmly jumped to Hawke once he began to speak as well. Olek still had words for Aileen, but the discussion would have to wait.

He waited for Hawke and Aileen to finish their exchange with the rest. One Hawke was finished with speaking, Olek met his gaze with his good eye. All he could tell from the look Hawke was giving him was a significant feeling of unease. He didn't trust this place. Olek on the other hand had full trust in this place. They had perimeter alarms, and the high ground. A brute force assault would end badly for any invaders.

Olek spoke up once a short silence set in. "Look, as far as I'm concerned, we only have option A on the table. Ara is in no condition to move great distances. As it stands right now, we have no evidence to indicate that our current position has been compromised." Olek paused, his eyes glancing towards Ara once more. He looked around, he felt like everyone needed a plan. Olek slowly let his militaristic training kick in. Soon his analytic behavior began to shine through.

"In the event of a full scale assault on this house, we should be alright for a few minutes. From what I can tell, this place was built to withstand a siege. Kyra, Kisa, and Dray are large enough to carry some of us through the woods, at high speeds, in the event of emergency escape. In the woods, enemy land vehicles would be useless, so they wouldn't be able to keep up with you guys. If the enemy brings air support into the fray, I can try my hand at bringing it down whilst providing covering fire." Olek sighed at the next part, and glanced around for a few moments.

"It's a flawed contingency plan in a few ways, but the most obvious one is for simple reasons. They will have orders to capture all of you with the exception of me. If I'm the only one hanging back, they'll bring down the house around me. That would mean that one person would have to hang back with me." Olek finished his analysis of possible options with a glance to everyone. Gauging what people thought of the contingency plan.

"As for long term options.... We'd have to get new identities, change our appearances, and settle down somewhere else. Beyond that, I have no more input on the matter." Olek finished talking altogether, ready for interjections, or other words to be had. He was open to criticism, concerns, and suggestions.

Edur fidgeted in her seat as both Hawke and the healer said their piece. Personally Edur didn't want to have to kill anyone. Not even a guard sent to bring them back. She had no idea if or how many died during their escape but adding to that number didn't seem like a good thing to do.

Olek broke the silence and Edur frowned to see him agreeing to the plan of kill or be killed. True Ara couldn't move in this state and Edur had become rather fond of the home, but there had to be another way. Surely she supposed.

As Edur gazed around at each person she again realized that she was the weakest here. She could hold her own against a human of her age but as far as Edur could tell she was the youngest and Olek was no normal human. Edur still wasn't sure Olek was completely human.

Sighing Edur's gaze dropped to the floor. 'If only we could pretend to be dead...then they would have no reason to come after us.' This was said in a mumble as Edur had no desire to share her thoughts but she was forgetting that most her had very good hearing.

#, as written by Aramay
Ara's ears twitched before eyes darted, the narrowed at Kisa's growling. She never had an issue with felines until now. Ungrateful for recieving help and pissy when they see something they don't like. "There's nothing stopping you from leaving anytime you please." At least Kyra was more independent with being left to her own devices. Ara still couldn't help but watch them both from her sickly little cocoon of sheets. What she would give to get her energy back again.

She listened to Aileen's, Hawke's and Olek's concerns. It was quickly becoming apparent that Ara was preventing them from moving. This was part of the original plan...she thought. Then again, that was when she was living from painkiller dose to dose. Come to think of it. She wasn't feeling the pain anymore. Her body was too exhausted to register it in her mind. Instead it felt like pressure being placed on her. It was hard to explain. "I don't see why we all have to wait till they try to jump on us to leave. We're still too close to the Lab. That's certain." She paused but still looked like she had something to say.

Slowly, taking a great deal of effort. She stands up. "Right now, you should all get going. I hate to admit it but Mr. Barrow is right...unless you know how to shove a food tube down my throat or an I.V....." The new appendage that was her tail was unable to keep still. With a mind of its own. It would recoil from touching anything around it. Each signal it sent into her head made her twitch slightly and blink. It was ridiculously frustrating and kept interfering with her thoughts.

"If they don't come through here...I can-"

"Ara I need you to go outside." The familiar voice rings through her head. A wave of dizziness hits sending her reeling for balance.

".....I, I'll be back." She wheezes. Straightens up, and starts working her way out of the room towards the restroom.

"Do you hear me? I need you out here." Holmes was still quite a distance away from the house, but close enough to see it. He had gone back to the Lab to grab supplies that were needed to keep the girl alive. For a few hours, he was certain he would never hear her again until she started to speak, to the others in the house. "If I don't help you soon. You will not survive till tomorrow. You're body is going to shut down."

Ara stops at the bathroom door, out of sight and earshot of the others. "I can't." She finally replies. "I can't leave." Just walking five feet felt like five miles to her. Standing in the restroom after locking the door behind her, she could see a cracked open window that he body would be able to fit through. She could safely guess that he was more that a hundred feet from the house.

Oren couldn't walk into a house full of angry mutants. He'd have his throat ripped out or worse yet have to explain to his superiors why he would let himself be kidnapped. "Ara if I can't get to you.....YOU WILL DIE IN THAT HOUSE IF YOU DON'T LEAVE NOW!" Holmes' frustration gave way. Her body jerks and shakes from the sudden jolt. Face grimacing as though she were shocked from a tazer. Her eyes going wide and just as abruptly the light vanishes leaving them dull. Hands push forward instinctively to catch her fall but there's no strength behind them and she crumples to the tile floor like a pile of clothes. Surprisingly she managed to keep conscious, if extremely dazed. Again her limbs reach out to find something to pull her back to her feet. There's no strength left to lift herself off the ground.

"Huh, can't get up...that's-" Her voice sounds more perplexed than anything. Rolling to her back in discomfort she finds it impossible to focus her sight on anything. "...uh, oh..." Panting, the more she tried. The less she could get herself to move. All at once she felt extremely tired. "...I'm not feeling so hot...I need to lay down..." Her voice got quieter. Suddenly the floor felt rather comfortable to lay out on. She just pushed herself too hard too soon. That's all it was.

Holmes started to panic. All he could hear in that house was her voice. He couldn't tell if he had just made it worse. Oren was closer than anyone else from the lab and he couldn't rush in with the others there. The damn tiger woman was still on the lookout on the roof and although his abilities were fairly decent, he still wasn't sure if he could dupe her senses. "What side of the house are you on? Can you open a window?"

Kyra

Kyra jumped off the roof, to hear what Olek was saying in person once she heard him start speaking. She stood far from the others, closest to the door.

"Kyra, Kisa, and Dray are large enough to carry some of us through the woods, at high speeds, in the event of emergency escape..."

"-the most obvious one is for simple reasons. They will have orders to capture all of you with the exception of me. If I'm the only one hanging back, they'll bring down the house around me. That would mean that one person would have to hang back with me."

"As for long term options.... We'd have to get new identities, change our appearances, and settle down somewhere else. Beyond that, I have no more input on the matter."

Kyra felt the need to speak to Olek, but in a way the others wouldn't hear. She sent her thoughts him, Cyclops, I need to inform you on my condition, along with Kisa's. You shouldn't rely on Kisa or me, as we are at the moment, starving. Therefore unstable and should not be trusted in our feline forms to NOT eat you or the others. We shouldn't chance it.

As soon as she sent those thoughts to her, she spoke up. "Your orders are outdated. When they sent me after you all, they gave me orders to bring the Dragon back alive. You, Olek, were to be disposed of as soon as possible. All the others were... optional." Meaning, it didn't matter if they were brought back alive or dead. They weren't important to the white coats. She ran her eyes over the ones deemed unimportant, showing no signs of regret or hesitation, then mainly looked at Aileen. "I was also ordered to mind-wipe any Normals that came into contact with the escapees."

Kyra rolled a shoulder, before she looked away. "But that was, of course, before I decided differently and the..." She looked directly at Aramay's direction for emphasis. "Sickly creature showed up." In her tone was an obvious note of disdain.

"As for your contingency plan, Olek, I think we should split up. That is if they do plan a full scale assault." She closed her eyes thinking of all the loyal mutants willing to capture them and return them to the Lab. Of course, there are also non-mutant retrievers. She thought of a Dax, a human she vaguely remembered from some retrieval work she had done before. "They could also plan to send some loyal mutants, several of which, are quite nasty." The words rolled off her tongue as if she didn't really care, nor did she seem to care when Aramay took off toward the bathroom.

"Really, splitting up is sounds like a better plan. Both groups would have at least one person who knows of the normal world, meaning Aileen leads, or co-leads one group and Olek takes the other group... And as I have the ability to heal, I'll go along with Olek so both groups have a healer and won't have much problems with injuries." She pulled up her mental map of the area. "If they do choose mass assault, I suggest, Aileen's group, mostly made of the weaker mutants, escape out the back door. And as Dray is so important, he'll stay with Olek, me and anyone else joining our group so as to keep most of the nasty mutants focused on us. We can stay here, give Aileen's group enough time to clear the area, and once they're clear, we can take off in the opposite direction, keeping most of the heat off Aileen's group, allowing them time to recuperate and adjust to the change of everything."

Kyra was then lost in her thoughts. "Then, when we get better control of the situation, we can... meet the other group whenever...."

Dray

It seems that immediately the problem at hand was brought up and needed addressing. That that he was against bringing up the topic; he knew that the Lab wouldn’t want to risk them out on their own and would be searching for any way to find them. Using any means to do so. It was only a matter of “when” not “if” the Lab was going to arrive and try to take them back. Or kill them all if necessary.
He listened to each person that spoke their piece and gave their ideas. Hawke began with either staying and fighting, or running away like prey and finding a new place to hide. Hi skin nearly crawled at that idea; he didn’t like the notion of having to run from the people that did so many terrible things to them for nearly all their lives. He would much rather defend or fight if it came to that. Olek seemed to be in favor of both though with the premise that he would remain and fight alone.
He looked out the window as Aramay began to speak, seemingly unconcerned with the rest of what was being said. In reality he was thinking through all the possibilities that were being brought up. It was true that he and the Cats would be able to get the others safely into the woods. Aramay wanted to be the one to stay and Edur wanted them all to play dead. Only problem he could think with that one was that the Lab would want their bodies. So instead of them just leaving they would either take them back more easily or end up actually killing them in some manner.
He looked over at Kyra as she spoke and Aramay dashed, or stumbled rather, from the room. He narrowed his eyes slightly at Kyra because didn’t trust her still even though she was outright telling them all the orders that she was given. He wasn’t sure she could be trusted as an ally. Through her plan the weaker ones would all flee and the rest of them would all be left to face the onslaught. It seemed reasonable enough though a few flaws.
He sat up from his slouched position and turned towards the others. ”Basically…we can’t all stay. And we can’t all go.” It took a moment for him to gather his thoughts and piece together the plans he had heard. ”Those who can’t fight should go. Those who can fight should stay. But they shouldn’t be left without protection. They should have a fighter with them.” He glanced at each one to see if he was making his point.
They would have to split up again. Even though it wasn’t as safe it was most reasonable instead of trying to fight all that came they only had to fight half with the other have of the coming people going after the fleeing group. ”Olek, me, and another should stay. The rest can go. And we decide on a place to meet up now.” He figured it was the best way to compromise and ensure they had a chance but he was open for suggestions from the others.

Dax

He nodded to Autumn while keeping his eyes on the road. Despite her being one of the mutants he was supposed to be watching and keeping in line she did have good plans. ”Sounds a good way to go. If the group is all together that is. If not then we’ll have to find another way to track the group.” It was only by chance that they had managed to track the mutant they had sent in. It was a larger chance that they had let her stay with the group despite her feeble condition. If he thought of them as creatures he could see them just leaving her for dead and moving on to ensure their own survival.
However, much to his displeasure, he had to think of them as people and thought that if they did retain some type of good humanity, even a sense of fellowship at them all being mutants, then they would have taken her with them and cared for her if they could. In his endeavor to take them back to the Lab he was hoping that they had some of that nature so he was able to gather them all more easily. If not he may need more than just Autumn.
The next problem assigned to him was to find out why Kyra had turned from them. She had been a loyal fighter and had always followed orders. He was to find out what changed and why she would suddenly side with her targets. He was trying to contemplate what went on in her head and if she had any previous contact with any of the mutants or showed any other signs of sympathy towards them. He had helped train a few loyal mutants and would get to the bottom of it.

Soon everyone began filling the room and started discussing what to do about the lab when they came for them. It was a problem that was looming over teem for the few days they spent here, and it was probably a good thing they were talking about it. Eventually the lab would come for them and they needed at least a plan for when that happened. Chris listened to the others as they spoke and after listening for a few moments it seemed that they could either run or stay here and fight them off for when the lab eventually came. Chris didn't really like the idea of running, he'd much rather stay here and fight the people who have made his life and the lives of the others so horrible.

Then Kyra spoke up detailing the orders she had been given before joining up with them ,and coming up with the idea to split up. He was a little worried when she said that Dray was the one the lab really wanted back and didn't like the idea that he and the others were all optional. Chris was sure that if the lab hunters got the chance they wouldn't hesitate to kill everyone other than Dray. He nodded as Kyra spoke splitting up the group began to sound like a better idea. Chris was sure that with Olek, Dray and whoever else stayed behind to fight would be more than enough to drive off the lab forces. Next Dray spoke up agreeing with the plan to split up and meet back up later. Chris thought splitting up was the best idea and he nodded along as Dray spoke.

Hawke whipped around to stare at Edur, a slow smile stretching across his face as he knelt in front of her. "Say that again," he said quietly, his eyes changing shape ever so slightly to look more birdlike, "Tell me what you said, I want to know I heard right..." He glanced at the others, the bright predator's eyes and the slightly pointed teeth in his smile making him look a little crazy. "Assuming I heard you right... This girl is a genius." He looked back at Edur. "It wouldn't be as easy as that, but it'd be a good place to start, wouldn't it? If we could find a way to make it look as though we were obliterated... not just dead, but blown sky high.... They'd spend so much time looking for pieces that maybe... the trail might just go cold... We fight long enough to get the non-fighters out, taking things down as we go, retreating to that back panel Aileen showed us. The place goes down, completely and totally, just as we're getting there. But... We'll need a definite place to go, or we'll end up in a similar situation to how we got here..." He figited, the combination of fighter and prey warring in his head so violently he was about ready to run from the house. The mutants here were friend, but they were all animal type mutants. There was no way for him to keep them from turning against him except by staying their friend. He desperately wanted his hood....

He shook his head, rubbing the bridge of his nose and keeping his eyes shut tight. "I think... disappearing and leaving as little traces as possible is our best option... if we want everyone to survive... I don't know about you guys, but I would very much like that...."

Aileen frowned, listening to Hawke. The plan was flawed, but brilliant. But it meant destroying her home. She stood up quickly, headed toward the restroom to check on Aramay. I wouldn't be able to come back here... Do I really want to leave? But if..WHEN they come... If I don't leave, they'll try to take me too... and I'll cut out my own heart before I let that happen... But they have to get out.... She groaned and paced, stalking back and forth about three steps in either direction from the bathroom door.

"Aramay? Are you okay, sweetheart...?" That in itself is another problem... I don't know how to help her... She needs attention that I know nothing about...

As soon as Olek was finished talking, he spent the rest of his attention on everyone's reactions to his words. Edur was the first to speak, dropping a very interesting idea. The corner of Olek's mouth tugged upward ever so slightly to form a slight smile. The gears in his head started to turn. In order for that plan to work they would have to engineer a scenario that would leave no remains, but would make the lab think that they were dead without a doubt. They could arrange an explosion of sorts, that would be a great way to buy them a week or two, but it wouldn't be permanent.

Ara spoke up after Edur, voicing her concerns, and telling them that they should leave her behind. Olek's eye narrowed. He wasn't going to let Ara die. He was certain of that. Olek was in constant conflict whenever he saw Ara. Was she better off dead? Or was she better off back in that hell hole they had all escaped from? Olek didn't know, and the conflict was apparent in his eye when he watched her leave the room. He shifted his feet to follow her out, but was stopped when a message was transmitted to his mind.

Kyra spoke in Olek's head, relaying him a message after he stopped in his tacks. Cyclops, I need to inform you on my condition, along with Kisa's. You shouldn't rely on Kisa or me, as we are at the moment, starving. Therefore unstable and should not be trusted in our feline forms to NOT eat you or the others. We shouldn't chance it. Olek made eye contact with Kyra. He gave her a quick and understanding nod to let her know that he understood.

Olek rubbed his chin at this new information. Trusting Kisa with the group would prove to be quite problematic, Kyra appeared to be more in control of her animal side, but a ravenous Kisa would be dangerous. Olek listened intently as Kyra altered the plan ever so slightly. Splitting up would sound like a good idea. The team that stayed back would have to be smaller. Olek wanted to stay back, he knew how to shoot, and how to halt enemy movement. Dray would have to stay due to the new information that Kyra brought to his attention. He turned his head, looking at Dray for a few moments, he didn't like putting anyone else in his little suicide squad. Kyra volunteered to stay as well. If Olek's employers came at them with everything that they had, escape wouldn't be likely.

Dray's words were concise and to the point. He understood what had to happen, what the best course of action was. Hawke also chimed in once more, commending Edur on her good idea. Olek once again slightly smiled at this. It felt good to know that the others were bonding. A bonded group was a good group. He once again stressed the fact that the group needed another destination to set up shop. Olek had one place, but it was a last resort. It wasn't registered under his name, but he was unsure if it was the safest place for everyone. With enough digging, it would be searched by the lab workers eventually.

Olek broke away from his thoughts and walked over to Edur, giving Hawke a decent amount of space as he did so. Olek patted her on the shoulder and gave her a gracious nod. "A genius indeed." Olek commented, agreeing with Hawke's assessment of Edur's idea.

Aileen walked out, presumably to check on her charge. Olek also had to talk to Ara. It was time to stop dodging the hard choice he would have to make. Olek spoke up. "I guess it's settled Kyra, Dray, and myself will stay behind. I'll discuss the rendezvous location with Aileen. If anyone has a problem with the plan, feel free to let me know." Olek spoke up calmly.

With that he left the room only to find Aileen pacing in the hall next to the bathroom door. Olek walked over, feeling his stomach slowly turning. He spoke in a hushed tone, making eye contact with Aileen and pausing for a few long seconds before speaking. "I need to talk to her for a few moments." Olek was going to let Ara choose. Go back to the torturous facility that she had escaped from, or stay and die. Those were her only two choices at the very moment. Olek formulated a plan to capture Oren, to beat the cure for Ara out of him, but there were too many flaws with that plan. He had no idea where Oren even was.

He glanced around at the others when it seemed that they had reached a consensus. They seemed in favor of what he said but also the little comment that Edur made about them playing dead and having the Lab forget about them if they did it right.
He had to admit it was a good idea to have himself, Olek and Kyra stay then meet up with the rest on the way out. Bringing the house down on them would be difficult because they wouldn’t want to actually be caught under the rubble and then be caught. Plus it seemed that Aileen had an attachment to the place. She looked taken aback when Hawke mentioned it and then left. He could only assume that it had bothered her. To him a place to sleep was just like his cell; a place to be when you had to sleep and be fed, and be bored for hours on end, not a place that he would want to go back to. But he figured this place was much more lavish that she may not want to leave it behind.
Even if they did manage to get her to agree he could get his mind around them trying to make it look like they had all died in the rubble. There were too many things that could go wrong for one, and second off where was the flesh going to come from that made it look as if they were dead?
He got up off the couch after Olek left the room after Aileen and went over to Hawke. ”Do you really think pretending to be dead is going to work?” He had seen too many try that in the Games in order to try and avoid being killed; and Hawke did compare their current situation to the Games only with a larger area. ”It’s one thing to take this place down on us. Its another to make it look like we all died because of it. With no signs of blood, flesh, bone, fur, nothing at all, they’ll immediately start looking elsewhere. There would have to be enough to make it look like all of us got shredded or smashed.”
He knew there would be animals in the forest nearby, perhaps they could use those. But there wouldn’t be enough warning for when the Lab finally showed up and there was hardly enough time for them to gather up enough to make it look like all nine of them had perished. Not to do it properly anyway that would end their search.

#, as written by Aramay
The shadows around the house began to move unnaturally. Concentrating around the only open window that could be found. As luck would have it. It was also the window to the bathroom that Ara was locked in. The shadows appeared to expand from the wall taking shape and regaining color in growing splotches, Oren, with bag still in hand gasps hard for air. His little trick took it right out of him, but he was inside. Without even taking the time to catch his breath he shuffled himself over to Ara to see if she was still breathing. He was shocked to find how much weight that she had lost. Thin could hardly describe her state. It was physically impossible for her to deteriorate so quickly. Or so he thought. Then again he always followed the strict guidelines that he found in the scientist's notes. There was too much that could go wrong to fathom how long she could go without food.

He opened her eyes and mouth, snapping his fingers by her ears to get a reaction out of her. There was no response. He wasn't going to risk a yell at her just to see if it would wake her up. Before anything else he had to keep her from getting any worse than she possibly could get. Lifting her light body into the tub he started running warm water, sheets, clothes and all to keep her body warm. And to mask the sound he made while getting out his supplies. Freeing an arm he looked for a viable vein to put in a shunt. Her veins were so small, it was difficult to discern one quickly. Eventually he was met with success and he began to squeeze the life-giving I.V. bag as hard as it would allow to get it started before placing it on a shelf above her head.

Next came the hard part. He wasn't sure which tube to use to feed her. Although one method was faster, he was more at risk with accidentally filling her lungs and effectively drowning her. The second method took much longer to feed her, but she would be able to breath unhindered and it could be left in place provided that it didn't get dislodged somehow. He would have to go with the latter. There was no way of telling if he could remove her safely. He wasn't a fan of leaving her either. They wouldn't know what to give her, or how to administer anything, let alone in what order. By the time he was done he was expressing a syringe full of an unpleasant looking semi-solid into a tube that was taped down which lead through her nose and down to her stomach.
"Aramay? Are you okay, sweetheart...?"
The voice from the other side of the door startled him. He wasn't ready to leave her yet. From the sound of things, it was only one person. He could handle one...maybe? Running out of time. There wasn't much more he could do for her at the moment. Oren lifted Ara's hand into his while he debated with himself.

Aileen would hear the door unlock and open quietly. The fully clothed Ara lay in the filled tub looking like she belonged more on a hospital bed. The bag of supplies rested on the closed lid of the toilet. The bathroom otherwise appeared empty.

Aileen twitched as Olek called to her. Even after several days he was still frightening to her. All of her instincts as a healer had her on edge as the bathroom door opened a crack. "I need to speak with her a few moments." Those words sent a chill down her spine, and she glowered at him without thinking.

"I will talk to her first. I don't care who you are, she's my patient. I need to check on her, and I don't think she'll enjoy you being in the room when I do." Her accent rolled through the words with the brief flare of temper and she stalked into the room, slamming the door shut.

And froze almost in pain with how tense the room felt. A med bag that wasn't hers rested on the toilet lid, and Ara was laying in the tub, full of water. With a curse she rushed to the tub, lifting Ara out of the tub. "What in the world..? Sweetie, why are you in her clo--" Her attention was brought quickly to the IV in the girl's arm. There was nearly no chance Aramay did this herself. Aileen didn't keep these kinds of things in the main bathrooms.

"Who's there?" She hissed, coiling herself over Aramay's body and reaching for the bag. With slow, careful fingers, she sought out something sharp. The fact there was a medical bag in here meant there was either less or no harm meant toward the girl, so she wasn't sure if alerting Olek was a good idea--yet.

Olek's eye darted to the door when it clicked then opened. He didn't have a chance to study the room, his eye went back to the glowing face of Ms. Aileen. As soon as she started speaking, he knew he was just spinning his tires in the mud. "I will talk to her first. I don't care who you are, she's my patient. I need to check on her, and I don't think she'll enjoy you being in the room when I do." She said in a heated manner.

Olek closed his eye and gave a soft sigh, he pinched the bridge of his nose. By the time he opened his eye again Aileen disappeared into the bathroom. The noise from her slamming the door echoed down the halls. Olek narrowed his eye, but instead of feeling anger, he felt a deep sense of sadness. The choice he wanted to leave in Ara's hands wasn't easy. It was just a question, there was nothing wrong with throwing in the towel, especially considering Ara's circumstances.

He leaned against the wall near the door, all he heard was Aileen's muffled voice from the other side of the thick and sturdy walls. He knew why Aileen didn't care much for himself. He was a killer, born and raised to take the lives of others. He only did it when necessary, but that didn't disregard the fact that Olek was a professional when it came to his trade. He was the embodiment of what Aileen strove to prevent, the death of others. Aileen was a healer by trade, she strove to save lives without using violence. They had two very conflicting ideals. He understood perfectly. He would have to leave Ara in her hands. Like Aileen had said, Ara was her patient, this was her field of expertise, not Olek's. He would have to trust Aileen for now. With that, he began to pace outside of the door, waiting for the update on Ara.

Kyra

Kyra heard Olek's words, and had appeared to not care but really, she had been delighted at the thought of staying behind to fight, to be backed into a corner and feel the aggression of the tiger rise. A rumbling sound came from her chest for a quick second and was quickly gone once she had realized she had purred. Their two-leggedness must be rubbing off on me... She thought before shaking her shoulders as if physically shaking off whatever humanity she had gained just by being around others.

Kyra walked into the kitchen and halted, her shocked gaze looking over the empty cans on the table. Her nostrils flared at the smell of various food items that she didn't know the names of. Her stomach growled loudly enough for the culprit of the entire thing to lift her head up and look in Kyra's direction.

Kisa wrinkled her nose and uttered out a low snarl, "I'm eating; what do you want?"

Kyra felt the tiger in her writhe under her skin, responding to the Jaguar's challenge, but Kyra fought it down. She felt a shudder go up her spine, the faint sounds of skin tear and bones moving leaving her just as she cocked her head, "Since you asked, I want nothing but to sink my teeth into your throat and shake till you hearts beat no more." The Jaguar snarled angrily, getting to its feet as if wanting to at least be prepared to defend itself.

With a sigh, Kyra responded to the Jaguar's actions with "But, as I said I would harm any in One Eye's group, I won't... Until they turn on you... Your new job is to go with Aileen's group and to protect them, that's all I came to tell you." She turned and walked out of the room.

Ara remained motionless the entire time. The instant Aileen removed her from the warm water Aramay began to shiver against Aileen. Within the bag were materials very similar to an EMT's response bag but with several alterations. There were various containers and vials containing unidentifiable liquids along with IV bags, pre-measured and labeled bags of a thick, dark colored semi-solid substance along with a bag of replacement feeding tubes. Several pairs of cutting impliments, namely a pair of medical scissors would be the closest to to top of the bag. And a piece of paper with notes scribbled all over it.

There was an uneasy darkenss about the room along with the unmistakeable feeling of being watched as there was a distinct sound of a heart beat that couldn't be sourced but most certainly felt. The light around Aileen's eyes quickly faded. Leaving her at a rather big disadvantage. It only lasts for a few seconds, but long enough for her to feel a shaky pair of hands wrap around her chest and mouth. "You've done a piss poor job of hiding. You're not doing a very good job with her either." Aileen would hear Holmes speak into one of her ears. "If you're trying to kill her, you're doing a better job than the lab."Holmes' grip was strong, yet it frequently waivered as though he had worked himself out to the point of exhaustion. It wasn't so much to keep her from moving. Moreso to get her to move the girl's body back towards the tub. Nothing seemed to wake her, and her cold pale skin made her look more dead than alive.

As much as Oren wanted to dart right back out of the house, he would be damned if he did so without attempting to ensure that his investment was still intact. Unfortunately they didn't seem to be doing a good job of it, and he wasn't well versed enough in the field to attempt trying to take her back on his own. His abilites were nothing to scoff at. On the other hand he made up for his over achievements with a severe lack of stamina to last more than a few minutes at a time. He needed a breather. Worse yet, he was only a door away from a house of possibly angry mutants. It was risky enough that he tried to go it alone by jumping ahead before the rest of the team would be able to reach their location. There was still time, but not as much as he would have liked.

Now he wondered what the hell he would be able to do with the time that he managed to squeeze out for himself. Going with the mutants was not one of his options. According to himself. Find a way to get the girl recovered enough for her to leave of her own accord, and possibly bring back another mutant in the process was more his goal.
