Habits/Quirks
Playing With Her Hair - Walking on her Toes - Quoting Things - Ignoring People - Randomly Humming Songs - Tapping her Fingers - Random Giggling/Laughter - Harshly Judging Others Outloud - Using Horrible Analogies - Impulsive Liar - Has Bouts of Depression/Overly Giddiness - Occasionally Seems to be on Something

Personality: Car's primary mode of living is focused internally, where she deals with things rationally and logically. Her secondary mode is external, where she take things in via her five senses in a literal, concrete fashion. Car has a compelling drive to understand the way things work. She's good at logical analysis, and like to use it on practical concerns. Typically having strong powers of reasoning, although she's not interested in theories or concepts unless she can see a practical application. She likes to take things apart and see the way they work. Car has an adventuresome spirit. She is attracted to motorcycles, airplanes, sky diving, surfing, etc. She thrives on action, and is usually fearless. Car is fiercely independent, needing to have the space to make her own decisions about their next step. She does not believe in or follow rules and regulations, as this would prohibit her ability to "do her own thing". Her sense of adventure and desire for constant action makes her prone to becoming bored rather quickly. Although she does not respect the rules of the "System", she follows her own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. She will not take part in something which violates her personal laws.

Car likes and needs to spend time alone, because this is when she can sort things out in their minds most clearly. She absorbs large quantities of impersonal facts from the external world, and sort through those facts, making judgments, when she is alone. Car is an action-oriented person. She likes to be up and about, doing things/ She won't sit behind a desk all day and do long-range planning. Adaptable and spontaneous, she responds to what is immediately before her. She usually has strong technical skills, and can be as effective technical leaders. She does not pay attention to her own feelings, and even distrust them and try to ignore them, because she has difficulty distinguishing between emotional reactions and value judgments. This may be a problem area for her. When she is over-stressed, she may exhibit rash emotional outbursts of anger, or on the other extreme may be overwhelmed by emotions and feelings which she feels compelled to share with people (often inappropriately). When down on herself she will foray into the world of value judgments - a place which is not natural for the her - and judge herself by the inability to perform some task. Car will then approach the task in a grim emotional state, expecting the worst. But Car is excellent in a crisis situations. She is good at following through with a project, and tying up loose ends.

Likes: Carmen likes being two steps ahead of everyone else around her. She likes to fuck with their minds, make them think she cares about them so she can turn around and tell everyone about how "Emily got her period last week but lied and said she just sat on ketchup." Sure, it sort of sucks sometimes, no one really likes her. But she's a smooth-talker, no shame about using her words or her appearance to persuade someone to give her what she wants to know. Rarely does she go through with these things though, even if everyone thinks she's a slut, she isn't technically. Though it doesn't bother her either that people call her that. Something she honestly likes is sweets, M&M's, cheesecake, fizzy drinks... They're like the love of her life. It's amazing she isn't fat with how much she consumes daily. Other things include technology, being intelligent, and music.

Dislikes: Not being known. In Car's mind, it's better to be known as a slut or a geek than to be nothing. At least people know who you are, you aren't that kid stuck in the back of the room with their nose in a book all the time. People think she's a spoiled bitch because of the way she carries herself, head held high, back straight. She doesn't like that either, because she isn't rich, she doesn't have that much money at all- she works at a local Starbucks to support herself. Though she doesn't go out of her way to correct any of these accusations, just like when they call her other nasty names. It really bothers her when someone surprises her or is able to "get one over on her", because that means she isn't doing her job. That means she isn't two steps ahead like she should be. Other things she hates are chocolate, make-up, and glasses.

Fears
Being a Nobody - Being Alone - Realness

Dreams
To be a Singer - To Love Someone - For a Sense of Security

So begins...

Okay, so, Carmen really hadn't always been a bitch. She also hadn't always been called Carmen, but she liked it better than her given name, Quinn. It wasn't overly common, she was the only person in this town with the name, and it matched her. Now for the attitude, she got that from her dad. All through elementary and middle school, she had been one of the nicest girls in school, friends with everyone. Then, the summer between eighth and ninth grade, her father left. That summer, naturally brown hair was bleached blonde, a tongue piercing was added, and she started wearing a whole lot more eyeliner than she had before. Hundreds of dollars in babysitting money was spent on a whole new wardrobe, and she changed her name. Some people thought that it was just a phase, that eventually she would get over losing that important figure in her life, but she didn't.

Today was one of those days where she was exceptionally bitchy- it was her nineteenth birthday. The one day a year that her father still called and wished her a happy birthday- even though she was in college now-, asked how she was doing, and made some excuse to go before she could get too far into the details. She liked to think it was because he thought if he knew about how much he was missing, he might want to come back, but she knew that wasn't true. This was the first time he hadn't called. Though she was trying to pretend it didn't bother her, maybe he would call after classes, knowing she would be busy now, maybe in a class or something. Though she had little respect for the professors, and wouldn't hesitate to pick up her phone in the middle of class if it was him.

Now she was heading across campus, already late to her first class, constantly checking her phone so she couldn't miss it if he called. Her first class was English, and as she approached the door, it was obvious that the lecture had already started. Sighing to herself, she slipped in the door, quiet as usual, and sat in the first open seat she found without even bothering to look at who was next to her. The professor seemed to have noticed her, but wasn't making any comments yet about her late arrival. Maybe some other people had gotten here late too? She could only hope.

There are many different kinds of people in this world, and poor Wesley Middleton didn't seem to fit in with any of them. No way could he be an athlete, he failed at nearly every sport he ever played. A musician? Not after he broke that piano... and guitar... and drum-set. An artist? Finger-painting, fascinating. Maybe Wesley could have chosen to be a bad boy rebel, but he was pretty sure he'd suck at doing whatever rebellious things they did, too. Heck, even throughout high school the smart kids didn't let him sit with them during lunch. How nice. The only people who Wesley did seem to fit in with were the ones who also had a hard time finding their own social class, the most boring people in the world, you could say.
And yet, Wesley had sent himself off to college in hopes to change his doomed destiny of being a nobody forever. College was where you found out who you were going to be, right? Screw high school, all it ever did for him was make him sit in the library during lunch.
And that's how Wesley Middleton got to where he was now; out of money, bored, and trying to pay off his student loan. In other words, in his English class listening to the lecture, waiting to learn something the least bit interesting.

The door opened and Wesley looked up from the sheet of notes he was taking. The paper was already half full, and not because he had such big writing. Whoever that poor sucker was was going to have a fun time catching up.
It was a blonde haired girl, he saw. Poor her. Not wanting to miss something, Wesley focused back to what the professor was saying, scribbling down notes as he listened.
And then the girl who was late sat down next to him. She slid down into the empty seat without seeming to know he was even there. Wesley glanced at her, now that she was closer, he actually thought she was kind of pretty.
Way out of your league. A little voice inside his head daunted, Wesley frowned. It was right.
Still, that gave him no reason to not be nice to the blonde haired girl.

"This is the stuff you missed," Wesley offered when the professor took a break from talking. He pushed the sheet of paper a little ways towards her and wondered if she could even read his writing.
He needed to improve on that.

Carmen never was crazy about school, especially when it came to Monday's. Knowledge just came easily to her, it was like a natural thing. All through middle school and high school, she never had to study for anything. Anytime she told a teacher that, they would assure her that it would eventually get harder and she wouldn't be able to get by without studying. Then she graduated as valedictorian and reminded the whole school that, she never had to study, and look how she turned out. Some of her 'friends' hated her for that, for not ever having to struggle in school. She hated herself too a little bit, because it made school entirely too boring for her. Never really learning anything, not having to struggle or study for a test with someone in study hall. She never even did homework, her mother thought she never had any, but really she could just get it done in school the next day. Sometimes her only wish was to be dumb, or make the other kids as intelligent as she was. This made her not really want to attend school, oddly enough because she actually wanted to learn- unlike other kids-, but wasn't.

The blonde was humming Fall Out Boy when her desk-buddy spoke, sliding his note over nearer her. She stopped the noise immediately, turning to look at him. Not even bothering to be subtle- she never was -, Car gave him a once over, both eyebrows rising a little in approval. Cute, was her first impression, which wasn't actually that impressive, everyone was cute to her. Well, most everyone. "Thanks." Pulling a notebook out of her bag, she flipped to an empty page, the rest filled with doodles. The first thing she said when she looked at the paper was, "Great! Someone with writing as bad as my own." Another approving look.

She had only gotten down a few of the things he had written when the professor spoke again, and she quickly slid the paper back to him in case he needed to take notes again. Turns out the prof. just wanted to tell them who their partners were going to be this year. It was then that she realized there were eight people seated in each row, and since she was on the end that meant... He was her partner. "Great, well, I hope we don't have to turn in anything that has to be handwritten." And class was dismissed.

The professor mentioned something about partners for the year, and Wesley was a few seconds behind on realizing that the girl beside him who was way out of his league, just so happened to be his work-buddy.
Huh, how about that?
She made a comment that Wesley took as an acknowledgment to his poor cursive, and all the young man did was manage a smile, "Ha, yeah." he said before the professor added in a quick note on assignments as the bell rang.
"My name is Wesley, by the way." He added as he got up from his chair, while also shoving his sheet of notes into his bag as he looked at the blonde. If they were going to have to do work together for the rest of the year, they might as well know eachothers names. Right? Yeah. Or, maybe she wouldn't introduce herself and he'd have to avoid situations where he'd be expected to know her name. How hard would that be? Very. Probably.

Of course, there was always the fact that he probably wouldn't even see her besides when they were in English together. The only time they'd be expected to talk was during projects or if either one didn't understand something.
Still packing up his bag, Wesley glanced at the lady beside him.
Yep, definitely out of his league. It was like high school all over again, and that stuff was supposed to be done with.

"So, where you headed to next?"

Car looked up when the guy spoke again, pausing from trying to shove her notes back into her bag. Once again she took a moment to appreciate his appearance, which was easier now that he was standing up. He was taller than her- not a surprise, she was barely five foot -, and probably a lot nicer considering what she knew about him so far. All in all, she supposed it wouldn't be that hard to have him as a work-partner, he didn't seem like the kind of kid that was just here to fuck around. And even if he was, as long as he didn't get in her way, she could do the projects just fine without his help.

"Carmen." Her lips twitched into a smile that was gone the next second, and she looked back down to put her things away correctly. Afterwards she shouldered her bag, then found herself waiting by the desk for him to finish packing up. For a moment she debated pulling her bag out again, pretending like she was searching for something so it didn't seem like she was just waiting on a guy. Then he asked her a question, distracting her from her thoughts. It took her a moment to remember what her schedule was, she rarely actually followed it. "I think I have chem in an hour, which means right now is my coffee break." If there wasn't a cafe on campus, she would probably be dead by now. "Hey, wanna come? If you don't have a class, I mean."

"Carmen." The girl said. Wesley nodded. Carmen was a nice name, but more importantly, easy to remember. There was no way he could mess that one up. "Could be a mechanic," Wesley said absentmindedly, meaning her name.
Carmen. Carman. Car man, as in a mechanic. Ha, funny. Any one of his friends back home probably would have gotten it, but Wesley doubted that Carmen would.
He continued packing up his things-which was taking a ridiculously long time due to him constantly fumbling- and noticed that the blonde was waiting for him as she answered his earlier question. "I think I have chem in an hour, which means right now is my coffee break." Ah, that was nice. But why was she waiting for him?
In the quick panic to hurry up, Wesley shoved whatever else was in front of him into his bag,
"I heard a few people talking about a coffee shop that's only a block away from campus." he offered as he slung the bag around his shoulder, "Apparently the mochas are the best." Wesley wasn't even a big fan of mochas, but if an entire group of people were complimenting them, they had to be good enough to mention.

He hadn't been planning on joining the blonde for coffee, but when she asked if he wanted to tag along, he didn't mind agreeing.
"Don't know what class I have next, but I'm pretty sure I have time for some coffee." Wesley said, wondering how they would find the cafe anyway, assuming Carmen didn't have a location planned ahead. Wesley, almost comically, was terrible with directions. One block away South could be a million miles North, for all he knew.
"Go with the wind," Was his saying, mostly to the people who accused him of getting lost. But an excuse or not, it was still valuable advice.
