a character in “Ever Since The First Time”, as played by Something?

Description

Tristen Martin Lester

Image

Nicknames: Tris, Les.

Age: 7

Date of Birth: May 20th

Fears: Shares the fear of never finding Tyler and getting to know him. She rarely says it, but Tristen desperately wants to meet her father.

Habits:: Talks to herself a lot and sings when she's thinking. Tristen also has a habit of biting her lower lip when she's in been caught in something she wasn't supposed to be doing.

Personality: Energetic. Fun. Sweet. But that's not enough to sum up this girl. Tristen isn't the kind of girl that likes pink dresses and tiaras. She likes watching Transformers and wearing denim shirts. Her favorite band isn't 1 Direction and she has never played with dolls. Not that she'd care to admit at least. Despite all that, she's an incredible source of fun and energy. She loves her mother and loves watching a movie with her or just cuddling up next to her on the couch. The fact that she has never met her father has caused her to be a little more boyish than most other girls.
She is very direct when she meets people and asks what she wants to know, which can sometimes be percieved as being rude. Kyle is the only person that has slightly resembled something like a father to her. He's been the only man close to her mother that she's ever seen, and Tristen loves him.
This little girl is tough. She's almost always happy and when something does bring her down and make her sad, she'll tell her mother and they'll talk about it. After that, it's chin up and move on. Tristen is very thankful for the fact that her mother has told her about her father.

So begins...

Kendra was lounging in her apartment, that her parents had agreed to pay the rent for, for two whole years. She was laid out on the couch, and could hear her precious little angel in her room, playing away with some toys she'd had for forever. "Ahh.." She stretched out, her back curving against the couch, and she set the book she was reading down on the coffee table near her, after dog-earring the page. Kendra stretched her arms over the couch's arms, and sighed happily. Then, sadness overwhelmed her as something caught her eye. It was a picture of her and her lost love, Tyler, when they were teenagers. She sat up, and went to the shelf it was sitting on. "The only reason you're out.." Kendra was re-assuring herself. To not let herself get caught up in that made-up fantasy she'd made to comfort herself, that Tyler would come through those apartment doors one day, and sweep her and Tristen up. Then, he'd love on them, and take them out into the world, and they'd be the family that was always overseas somewhere, sightseeing. She'd always wanted them to be that "perfect family" you always hear about. "is because Tristen needs to know what her father looked like." Kendra scratched the back of her neck nervously, and picked up the picture with her other hand, and kissed the glass where Tyler's head was. Fighting back tears, she whispered their old secret treaty they'd made up when they were young, thinking they'd never be separated. "I'll always be there, for love and for fear, just wipe away those tears." She laughed mid-sentence at how stupid she was being, and set the picture back in it's place on the shelf, next to some lillies, and a picture of Kendra and Tristen.

Her chin rested on the palm of her hand as she sat and 'played' with her toys. It wasn't a barbie or a Bratz doll. It was a Transformer. Her favorite toy that she had begged her mother to get for her and fought to have. Some of the other kids at school laughed at her because she was playing with that kind of toy, but little Tristen just did not care. Last she'd seen her mother she had been half asleep on the couch, and there was no sound coming from the living room. Tristen had figured that she should probably let her get some sleep as she seemed tired. "I'm booooreeed." She muttered, putting the toy away. The fun had run out of playing with her toy a while ago.

Then it knocked on the door. Tristen's head shot up and she ran out of her room. "I'll get it!" She said and rushed to the door to find Summer standing there. "Hi Summer!" The girl exclaimed and hugged her mother's best friend. "It's so good you came over, I'm so bored."

Kendra jumped at Tristen suddenly running out her room. "Tristen, running through the house.... again?" She sighed, and wiped her eyes quickly, seeing Summer. "Hey Summer." She gave her a quick wave, and went into the kitchen to make lunch. "You guys hungry?" Kendra called out, with a slight sniffle. She shook her head, and opened the fridge door, in sweats and a loose fitting tank, with her hair messy in a bun. Kendra examined the food they had in the fridge, and shook her head. "You guys just wanna go out today? It's pretty out there anyway." She said in a dreamy way, and leaned against the counter, resting her head on her palm, elbow on the counter.

Summer smiled down at Tristen, and she exclaimed, "You look like you've grown since the last time I saw you, a few days ago!" she gave Tristen a hug, and she smiled at Kendra, "I would love to go out. Where do you guys wanna go?", She chirped in a cheerful voice.

Zoe happily hummed as she unpacked the boxes to her new apartment, the one only a few doors down from her sister, Kendra's.

She smirked a little to herself when thinking about her baby sister (well, actually they were only about a year apart, but Zoe still though of her as her little sis). The think she loved most about living here is that her sister had no idea she had moved it. It all started a few weeks ago, when she got home from a business trip to find her sister had moved to New York. Of course, after giving one daughter the deal with the apartment, of course they had to give the same to the other one. Which brings her to now.

She hadn't seen her sister in over nine months. The last time Kendra saw her, Zoe had been huge, pregnant with her son that was currently six months old. Kendra hadn't even met her nephew, but Zoe planned to change that tonight, by sneaking up on her and breaking the news that the two sisters were now neighbours.

She peaked out the door towards Kendra's. She felt excitement build up in her stomach of seeing her sister and her niece, Tristan. She knew Tristain would be happy to see her favourite aunt (well, actually she was her only aunt).

She picked up her son from his little crib, where he let out a little whine for being woken up from his nap, but quickly fell back asleep in his mother's arms. Zoe walked out of her apartment, and stepped the simple three steps to Kendra's place. She tapped on the door, waiting for Kendra to answer.

"Ready to meet your auntie?" She whispered to her baby son, who cooed softly in her arms.

Apparently, their fridge was so miserable that they were going to go out and get a bite to eat. That was just fine by Tristen. She did not mind at all. It was an excuse to go out and see stuff. Plus, Summer was here as well which meant more people to talk to and less boredom. Tristen let go of Summer and smiled brightly up at her, seizing her hand and tugging her out of the hallway and into the apartment. "Mom says I grow really fast, but I can't tell." She shrugged and went into the kitchen.
When her mother spoke up, her eyes widened with excitement and the girl rushed to her mother instead.
"Can we go to that Cafe down on the corner, please?" She asked, making her best puppy dog eyes. "They make the best hot chocolate." Tristen looked to Summer and then back Kendra again. "Which is of course not all I'm going to have, because salads are really good for me and I should eat my veggies." And again, the puppy dog eyes returned.

She absolutely loved it when they had people over or when they went out to eat. It was always a lot of fun and Tristen loved her mother's friends. They seemed to like her as well, so it was always really nice. She didn't get through another thought before there was more knocking on the door. This time, her expression had changed to slightly confused. Two visitors? It was to good to be true.

Summer laughed at Tristen, "I'll give you some of my hot chocolate if we go there, Tristen," she smiled down at Tristen, and then she heard the knock.
"Wonder who that could be?" Summer shrugged it off, and she walked to the couch and sat down, "I'm too lazy to open the door, it's too far away," she stretched her arm towards the door-which is a few feet from the couch- for emphasis. "See, I can't reach."

"Hey, Tristen, we can go play until your mom is ready to go," she offered, smiling down at Tristen.

Kendra stood up from the counter, and watched her daughter run towards her with flailing arms. "Tristen, if we go there, all you're going to eat... err... drink, is hot chocolate. Then, when we get home, you'll be bouncing off the walls, baby girl. " She paused, and bent down to Tristen's level, holding her cheeks with each hand and squishing them together, making Tristen have a fish face. Kendra laughed for a good minute before catching her breath and adding, "Baby, I love you, and I don't want you to get hyper, because every time you do, Mommy throws a huge fit." There was a knock at the door, and Kendra looked up to Summer. "You're such a lazy girl." She snickered, and rose back to where her back was straight, and kissed Tristen's forehead. She then, walked towards the door, and stopped halfway, and laughed at Summer's little "display". "Oh, Summer." She sighed, "You're just like Tristen." She laughed then looked through the peephole, seeing a woman with a baby, but not clearly seeing their faces. "A baby?" Kendra muttered and opened the door. "Zoe!" She exclaimed happily and loudly. "Aww... It's... what's-his-face.." Kendra ohhed and ahhh over the baby. "Aw.. He's adorable." Kendra half-hugged her sister, but honestly, hadn't missed her.

Summer laughs at Kendra's behavior towards the baby, before responding to what Kendra said a moment ago, "I know I'm lazy, and I'm proud, and I could give Tristen just a little bit of my hot chocolate. You could get her a water or something, then when she finished that, I could just pour a small amount of my hot chocolate in her cup. She won't be hyper if she only has a little bit. Besides, she's a kid, kids are supposed to be hyper," Summer smiled, and she walked to the kitchen, grabbing a cup out of the cabinet, and she got water from the sink without Kendra's say-so.

"Hey Zoe," Summer greeted Zoe, giving her a one-arm hug, and she smiled at the baby, "I don't see how you guys handle kids and babies. I can't even think about a diaper without gagging. And just taking care of a kid seems hard. How do you guys do it?"

"Aaaw, mom!" She complained and pouted for a moment. She couldn't help laughing when her mother squished her face up and made her look like a fish though, so the pain quickly passed. Kendra got up and headed for the door when she heard it too. Summer had reacted to it but had opted to seat herself on the couch instead, explained that she couldn't reach from there. Tristen shrugged her shoulder as well and joined Summer on the couch.

"I wasn't even going to drink that much hot chocolate. Just a little bit. It's so good." She said to her mother's friend and sighed. She heard the conversation between Summer and her mother as the latter went to get the door, and smirked. Tristen vehemently nodded her agreement with the woman next to her but it seemed it didn't matter. "You understand, Summer." She said and rested her head on the girls shoulder.

Unfortunately, she wasn't allowed to rest her head there for long. There was a real fuzz when Kendra opened the door, though Tristen still didn't know who was there. "Zoe? Aunt Zoe?!" The seven year old exclaimed and shot up from the couch, following Summer. Her running came to an abrupt stop though, when she saw what Zoe was carrying in her arms. Tristen had planned on greeting her the same was as she had greeted Summer. The little girl stopped dead in her tracks and looked with confusion up at Zoe, unsure of what to do. "H-Hey, Zoe. What do you have there?" Was the only thing that came out of her mouth to follow the expression on her face.

Summer smiled at Tristen, Zoe, Kendra, and the baby. They all seemed really close, and Summer loved that about them. She took a sip of the water she had gotten, and she made a face, swallowing it quickly, and she grumbled, "Sink water is so gross."
She shook her head disgustedly at the glass of water, and she set it on the coffee table in front of the couch.
"Hey, Zoe, what's the baby's name?" Summer asked, gesturing to the adorable baby.

After Driving for 6 hours, Tyler begun unloading the boxes ready to move upstairs to his new home with Piper. He grabbed out his phone
and typed "Hey Honey, I just arrived" after pressing send. He begun moving the boxes upstairs, however when he reached one of the floors, there was three woman laughing and talking about what looked like a baby, he didn't see clearly as the box was blocking his view. However, he didn't bother saying hi, there no point in saying hi right now anyways, as he still has a lot moving to do and he needs to get everything done before Piper arrives.
How he wished that he had a helper or a person to be here for him, Piper could have been but she had something to do, not sure if it's the moving that she doesn't want to do or the event she was just more important. However looking back He did have someone like that before her, Kendra, who he did everything with but then they lost touch for years, and he doesn't know where she is now, probably married and happy prepared for a life. He was in fact ready for his..with Piper, hopefully.

Kendra laughed at little Ethan's faces. "Yeah, sis, please join us!" She looked behind her, just in time to see a young man moving in. He reminded her of someone she knew before.. Tyler. He looked like an older version, but she shrugged, as the last time that they had talked, he was in Maine. She shook her head, and gave Ethan back to Zoe. "I'll go get dressed, and we can go to the Cafe Tristen wanted." She kissed Tristen's head, still laughing at her reaction to all of it.

The same expression remained on her face as her aunt kneeled down to her level and introduced her to Ethan. Her cousin was only a baby and so small, a fact that Tristen seemingly couldn't fathom. She just stared at Zoe for a moment and then down at the baby who had reached his hand out to her. Seeing Zoe again after so long was a suprise in itself. Tristen gently reached out her hand and let Ethan squeeze her thumb. "He's so small." She let out under her breath and then smiled widely. "Is he really my cousin? I didn't know you were going to have a baby, aunt Zoe!" The shock had passed and Tristen returned to her normal self.

When Ethan was returned to her mother, she hugged Zoe tightly. She hadn't seen her in a long time and it was going to take a lot of hugs to make up for that. "Please come with us! Mom won't let me have hot chocolate, but it'll be fun anyway." And that was how fast children's minds switched. Tristen wasn't broken up about, but did it mostly to tease her mom. She was spoiled enough as it was. They often made hot chocolate at home or bought candy and snuggled on the couch with a good movie, and she loved every second of it. There was nothing better than gathering all your pillows and blankets and settling in on the couch close to her mother.

"Yay!" She exclaimed when Kendra asked Zoe to join them and they could go to the café down on the corner. That was her favorite café in the city so far. This was just what she needed. Granted, they didn't come to visit her alone, but the fact that there were more people made the day that much more exciting. Tristen knew this was going to be good. "Where is your boyfriend, aunt Zoe?" The young girl asked suddenly as it struck her that if Ethan existed, then there must be a father somewhere.

Summer eyed the young man that was carrying boxes, he looked oddly familiar.
"Is it just me or did that young man look familiar?" she asks.
After a few moments of thinking, it clicked into her mind.

"Hey, that man looks like the one from the picture of Tristen's dad. Don't you guys agree?"
Summer looks at Kendra and Zoe, seeing if they agree with her or not.

Kendra rolled her eyes at Tristen's comment. "Please, baby girl, I just got you a milkshake yesterday. Just be good." She laughed, and then frowned when Summer said that. "Yes, he does, but it can't be him. There's no way in..." She suddenly grew quiet at the mention of him. "Earth, that he would even be near me." Kendra sighed, and walked off to her room, shutting her door.

She HATED when anyone mentioned Tyler, it brought back her whole childhood, and she hated every moment of her childhood now, only taking Tristen to see her grandparents on holidays. It wasn't them, it was the town she didn't like. All the elders she used to hand out flowers to, where dead now, but their great grandkids were her age, and thanked her constantly for making their great grandparent's last years more desirable. She hated everything that reminded her of Tyler, constantly leaving the picture turned down. "I'll always be there for love and for fear, just wipe away those tears.." She mumbled a few times, then threw on her outfit.

Kendra threw on a white, sheer tank, buttoning a white shirt over it, and slipped in some jeans. She brushed her hair, and made sure it was straight, then put on some light make-up. The make-up being eyeliner, a pale pink lipstick, and light foundation, that made her skin look even more pure. She finally grabbed her big, pale baby blue purse, putting it on her shoulder, and slipped her feet into some boots, zipping them up, and strapping them a little tight, as she shut the door to her room.

Kendra made a quick, last-look in the mirror by her door, and then smiled up at Zoe, Tristen, Ethan, and Summer. "Let's go."
She then suddenly stopped. "Wait! Why don't we invite Kyle?" She pondered a moment, remembering the clean-shaven man. "He's always so nice, and Tristen likes him." She dug out her phone from her pocket, sending him a quick text.

"Hey, Kyle! Kendra here. Why don't you come with us to the cafe today? Meet us there."

Kyle's brain was just about to explode from too much thinking when he got a text from Kendra. He looked at it and sighed, then smiled a little, knowing he shouldn't keep avoiding her, as long as he didn't mention it, everything should be fine.

"Sure thing, I'm on my way."

He smiled as he headed his way to the Cafe.

Kendra smiled as she got the text from Kyle, and hurried the girls out.

"Great. Can't wait to catch up with you."

She stuffed her old flip phone in her jacket pocket, then stuffed her hand in with it. Her other hand on Tristen's back hurrying her out.

"I'll be good." Tristen sighed and nodded, watching her mother leave to put some clothes on. Someone had said something about Tyler, her father that she had never met. It was obvious to her that it bothered Kendra, but Tristen stayed quiet (which in itself was unlike the little girl). She always felt terribly awkward when someone talked about her father. She didn't know how to feel about it, because she had never met the man. It was a very confusing subject to her. When her mother came back out, everyone seemed to be ready to go and Tristen smiled again. She really wanted to go out with everyone. To her favorite cafe at that.

"Yay! Kyle! I hope he's coming." She said and felt the push on her back by her mother's hand, urging her out the door. Tristen followed everyone out and zipped her jacket up, though the weather was nice. She was a skinny girl and was easily cold. "Mom, where's Kyle been?" She asked and grabbed her mother's hand, wondering where the man had been for the last long while. Tristen loved Kyle and missed him.
