Appearance:
Merel has long white hair and white irises, the pupil and the sclera are both dark brown. Her skin is very pale. Merel paints her face in this odd pattern every time she fights.

Power:
Telepathy and shapeshifting (often taking the form of a nightingale or other birds)

Physical Abilities:
Normal physical abilities of whatever shape she takes on, though she is able to independantly change things (such as givin herself bigger muscles for stenght or combining animals into one - somtimes this backfires though when an animal isn't proportioned right)

Personality:
Arrogant in an aloof, smug kind of way. Laid back/easy going, extremely lazy, sly and conniving, doesn't trust easily, would rather ensure her own safety than risk her life for her companions (100% for self-preservation). Sly and conniving.
Merel will sweet talk, give empty promises, tell people what they want to hear, and twist the truth to get what she wants. In a nutshell, not to be trusted unless she has explicitly promised you that you can, her word is something she does not give lightly.
Prefers to not talk if she doesn't have to- doesn't like to waste her words or her breath.
Has a very cynical and pessimistic outlook on life, which she tends to call a realistic and perhaps somewhat cynical view. Merel's humour often consists of dry, scathing sarcasm and torment of others, in a friendly way, of course...

History:
Merel was born to a loving family of two. Her parents had been trying for a child for a very long time, and so were quite old when she was born. A good portion of her life was spent taking care of her parents, but she did so willingly.
When her parents first found out she could shapeshift it was quite by accident, she had turned her nose into that of a cats and sprouted a matching tail while watching the family pet lounge around. At frist the elderly couple had been frightened but only for her safety. Soon enough, they figured out what it was and accepted her even then, helping her practice her 'gifts' and think up new ways to use them.
Though she was not bullied or picked on, she became a reclusive child that prefered to stay silent and listen. This was how she discovered her telepathy, thinking that she wanted her mother to know something but didn't really want to talk at the moment. Her parents accepted this in stride and excersized her talents in that also.
Unfortunatly, all good things must end. Her parents died, both from the same disease that their old immune systems could no longe fight off. She was left an orphan with no other family she knew of at the age of 14. While in foster care, she was bounced from house to house, causing her to become even more reclusive and she drew into herself, her studies, and her music more and more as time passed on. Soon, the only time anyone heard her voice was when she sang, oten laments in foreign tongue that moved the listener.
In her studies she excelled in foriegn languages, music composition, math, biology and chemistry. After she turned 18 and was free of the child care system she struck out on her own. Inevitably, her secret got out. At this time, however, it wasn't family who cared for her, it was government officials. Her information in the 'mutant' database, she was soon on a list of hunted. Now forced into hiding instead of living freely and peacefully as she and her parents had wished.
