Appearance: Shade is 6'0", and has the body of a track runner. He has midnight black hair comes about halfway down his neck, and is always slightly unkempt. His eyes are a dull red, with pupils that seem unaturally deep, as if you were looking into a bottomless pit. His skin is alway pale, as if he hasn't gotten sun in a month. His outfits always consist of black, with virtually no other color present. he appears skinny, but he is actually very fit.
Power: Shadow-Phasing: Shade can tramsform his body into a living shadow, allowing him to walk about unseen. The only drawback, though, is that he can remain in this form for only a few minutes. Strangely, when he is unphased, he has no shadow.
Teleportation: Shade can teleport, disappearing and reappearing in an instant. The range on his teleport is very limited, though. He can only teleport to a place that he can physically see, and he cannot telport over 100 yards from his original position.
Physical Abilities: He is a skilled martial artist, using a blend of several diffrent styles. He is also extremely skilled with throwing knives, able to throw a knife with pinpoint accuracy.
Personality: Shade is mostly quiet, never speaking louder than his usual soft voice. He is very precise, and s not easily distracted. He has a deep-seated haterd for the government, and will go out of his way to cause them grief. His method of dealing with any situation is calm and methodical. He enjoys reading, and can go through at least eight books a month.
History: Shade had been an outcast his entire life. Given to an orphanage a week after he was born, he grew up in the strict silence of the home. He had always been different, and he could tell, even from a young age. When he was 11, the Anti-mutant law was passed. He had been keeping his powers a secret, but one of the boys had seen him teleport. When the headmaster confronted him, he disappeared and snuck out of the orphanage.
For two years, Shade lived off the streets, doing side jobs, commiting theft, anything to keep himself alive. He learned how to fight, how to work, how to survive. Until he met Fortello, an antique dealer who was well into his seventies. Fortello was a fellow mutant, a telepathic. He took the boy in, and raised him. Shade loved the old man like a father, and lived happily with him for nine years. Unfortunately, one of Fortello's not-so-savory associate's sold out the old man to the government for $10,000. The government stormed Fortello's home, and attepmted to arrest him. Fortello, who was now into his early ninties had a heart attack and died. The agents who had been sent to retrieve him burnt the house down and left without a trace.
Shade returned home later that day to find his home on fire and the old man dead inside. The fire department had already put out the fire, and the police had roped off the area. When Shade spotted an Agent inside the police perameter, he knew who had killed his father. He swore revenge and set out to find other mutants. if he was going to make the government pay, he was going to need help.
