10 min after leaving.

Tildy woke to darkness, it was most complete; without any hint of release. Her heart fluttered in her chest, she hated the dark greatly, having never been given pure darkness before it was almost maddening. She groped out with her long imperceptible fingers, reaching for anything that could give an anchor to the darkness she now found herself to be in. They touched down on something rough, waxy in feel, but impossibly hard. With care she wrapped against the material, not wanting to hurt her knuckles. She wondered mildly how she had managed to get into such a dark place, the last thing she remembered was picking up the bag of blood. She reached out behind her, hoping to find that her pack had joined her, wherever she was now she would need what it held. Sure enough she felt the soft leather straps of her backpack, never had she been so relieved to have it at her side. Her hands deftly searched through the pack, weary of the fact that any noise might attract notice from whoever had bought her hear. Her eyes flickered back and forth in the impenetrable darkness, poring through her clothes till she felt the cold touch of metal. She flicked on the small torch light, shining it about the small capsule.

Peng opened her pod, a hiss of air escaping into his small cave; knowing that she might be fearful now she was awake. His grey cog eyes glittered in the bright beam of her flash light, hair briefly whipping about his head before it settled back into his human looks. At his feet the Skitters (A distant relative of the Spoun, flightless, with a dislocatable jaw. They range in size and colour; pale yellow to almost black red, 16 inches to 3ft) mewled, their little red and yellow heads rubbing against his legs. He glanced down at them for a second, clicking the sliding capsule door into place. To his eyes she looked better, he had been frightened that she would be eaten if left out to the cold, so with much effort he had dragged her back to his small cave, off the side of the main cave for beasts. He moved away with her, picking up his singing from where he left off, surrounded by a cloud of small mars creatures. Though he was young, he looked after himself with great care, being valuable with his medical skills, he was often given whatever he needed without question. His request to be given a separate cave however was welcome, the other beasts finding him somewhat creepy.

“Peng, do you need any assistance?” The large deep voice shocked her, making her gasp. She shifted about the capsule to look at the
Well in truth she could not tell what the creature was, she supposed another beast like Peng, but she could not know. “She is fine, but if she can trade for what she wants, then I will take her back to her dome.” Peng’s words seeped into her mind along with his music. She looked down and noticed that his legs were unravelling as he spoke to the creature, she looked down at him with a more careful eye, taking back her assumption that he was a child. The large lumpy creature moved away, out of the entrance of the cave, its legs strong yet short, skin dark and leather like to deal with Mars’s hash conditions. Words stuck in her throat as it turned to watch her. She reached her finger to where she knew her knife to be, letting her skin part to release the medium sized silver knife. She knew she would not stand a chance against any creature here with it as her only weapon, she would need to trade it, she only hoped it had some worth.

“I would like a gun, something big.” Her green eyes looked at them both, flickering between the curious creatures. “You will be able to get much for that, silver is valued for its purity. The domes often want medical supplies when they run out, silver is clean” Peng’s voice was melodic in her head and she noticed his curious looks at her. She shifted her bag with care to her shoulder, stepping down into the small crowd of animals that seemed to fill the room. She followed the creature that would trade with her, taking note that her cloth host kept close to her side, giving up the pretence of legs. Under his hovering form and around him trailed the Skitters, reminding her of the kitten she and her brethren had received as a present at the organics company. They were too long however, too thin; moving with serpentine grace opening their mouths unnaturally wide whenever one got angry with the other. She watched them as the wandered into the beast’s homes. The mouth of the cave was lit with great red fires, large creatures bent over them, hammering metal and cooking whatever they could find.

***************************************************************************

An quarter hour later Peng stood at the strange woman’s side, he had soon warmed to her, kind despite her hardness. One of his family had become quite attached to her in the short time they had been with her. He was glad that she did not ask him to talk, did not ask what was going on, taking it all in her stride. They had managed to get her a beautifully crafted gun and ammo for the price of her silver knife and a few of her more interesting items in her bag. Inside the main cave she had remained calm yet tense, her eyes often darting to him with questions. Inside him his gears ground at the idea of giving such easy company back to the dome. With weary eyes he looked up at the Dome, he had so wanted to be accepted back into it, but it would never happen he was now beginning to think. He glanced at the quiet yet heavily armed woman on his left, eyes falling to the young Skitter next, standing alert on her shoulder, no more than a few months old. He lent forward and pressed the button to ask for entrance to the inner gate.

“Section 2 Gate 4 is not scheduled to be opened, please state your name and reason for requesting access.” The voice through the intercom was grainy but defiantly human.

“This is Tildy Bedwyr and Peng
. Of the beasts, can you inform Leon that one of his lost sheep have returned.” She smiled running her fingers through the Skitter’s fine yellow pelt, the creature exuded no heat, its wiry almost metal inner coat raising to act as a block ,while the soft inner fur lay like warm quilting. She turned to her savior, giving him a respectful deep nod, her green eyes analyzing his little form. She hoped that she was not to far behind, according to Peng they had been gone no more than half an hour over all, for she had not slept only passed out for a few minutes, too far to take back to the landing dock. A few of the beasts had given the a ride in there makeshift vehicle , swiftly traveling over the dust surface of the planet.

The door hissed open letting them in and the voice called from behind “When the Captain calls in we will send word you are being held here. Please wait with patience.” The voice grew louder as his bandages whipped lower creating legs, to keep the malformed at ease. He caught Tildy’s look of distaste, but ignored it, many of the others would not be so understanding that he was not like they. Immediately when the door shut the Skitter scrambled down, heading for the signs of weeds that clung on. He smiled down at her little wiry form, his song following it as it sat and ate the little food, its abnormal jaw distended to eat whole plants in an mouthful. The little omnivorous creatures were well adapted to life here, eating almost anything it came across that was willing to stay still for long enough, with sometimes ghastly swollen stomachs they would lie in his cave waiting for the food to digest. He sat in silence on the floor, trying to remember how limbs moved to do so, otherwise his wrapping could go most wrong.

“So this is my home?” She spoke to herself, fingers running over the familiar shape of her new sub-machinegun, taking comfort in its weight on her shoulder and hip. She looked up at the bigger dome, with this small section attached to allow cargo through. Her fingers reached out touching the glass with awe, the place was a marvel in itself and she felt it somewhat beautiful, a haven for her kind. She knocked her spare handcuff against it without realizing, causing a sharp tapping to resound in the side pod. Soldiers moved into the room to her left, but she paid them no heed, her eyes simply kept to the massive structure before her. She did not in truth need to pay them any attention, she did not feel that they were in any way a threat to her. On her sleeve she felt the gentle tug of Peng, who obviously felt nervous in the face of such force and smiled down at him with kind eyes. She put her hand over his soft cloth one, and turned to look at the man and woman. Her eyes lit on their weapons with envy, not because they were particularly better than hers, but because she wanted to have them, they were like the comfort of home to her. She smiled walking towards them, she supposed it would be best to introduce herself at least.

(I hope this works for you all! And of course that you dont mind me rejoining)

Ace never really enjoyed his parking spot in the community lot. Not that it was a bad parking spot, it was close to it seemed everything; it was just too public. He could see everything going on outside the glass dome, as well indoors in the common area. Those coming and going, some trying to get inside the dome. He saw a woman with fiery red hair standing near the outer gate, with Peng was it? He had seen that beast around for a while, he always liked being around the newbies. Before exiting the highway he studied the woman Peng was with briefly-- she had to have been new, he would have remembered someone with that head of hair on Mars. I wonder what her specialty is... he thought rather cooly, before directly his attention back on the guards collecting IDs, for those to enter back inside the community dome.

Ace made his way out of the tunnel finally, his eyes searching and calculating everyone in the main room. He was big into numbers, and could count fast. Not too many people were here as usual, which meant that most were sleeping on the floor above, in their capsule rooms. In Ace’s rather loud truck he already was drawing eyes on himself while he zoomed around the corner where his car spot was located, seconds from his warehouse, the headquarters of his group’s secret market. The greedy learned how to keep it hush, even with the small population on Mars. Ace turned the gas off, swiping up the delivery in his hand afterwards then got out of his truck. The object was now invisible again. He knew there were always sneaky eyes watching him, that was what his job entailed.

Ace knocked on a side door to the back garage. It was all that was needed before someone already had the door open for him, as if they knew he was coming. “Got the package, boss!” he said, tossing the box slightly up in the air, catching it again safely as he entered into the room. He placed it on a slate table, pushing it closer to a few others in the room who wanted to check it out.

“Where is it?” one spoke, raising an eyebrow at Ace.

“Oh, yeah. Sorry about that,” he laughed pleasantly, scratching the back of his neck. When he made things disappear, he could still see them, which caused him to forget sometimes that others couldn’t. He pulled off the shield on the box, making it visible once again to everyone in the room. Eyes lit up across the room in a wave, everyone very fascinated by such a tiny battery. Already some of the mechanics swiped it away, wanting to get a better look of it and get to work seeing what they could use it for, or if they could even duplicate the object with supplies they had on Mars. Ace’s job was done for the day. He could either work at the main front in of the shop, open to everyone, or take off the rest of the day. Neither seemed very entertaining, seeing as how there wasn’t too much to do on Mars compared to what there was on Earth. A couple seconds of debating led him to the conclusion he would walk around, maybe grab some food.

His favorite place for grub was at Kelzo’s Pizza Pub, a make-shift bar that one of his friends happened to own. It was small in square feet size-- there wasn’t much space to go around, seeing as how everyone fought for property on Mars. Yet, the size of his Pizza Pub was big enough for a couple dozen men, some beer, and some good old fashion TV with sports from Earth projected. Ace entered inside, a few men recognizing him right away. “Hey boys, the usual Kelzo!” Ace said, sounding quite cheerful and carefree now that he was here. His usual was a slice of pepperoni pizza and a nice, cold glass of Kelzo’s homemade beer. There was an open booth in a dimmed corner, one of the only ones still available since seating was short. Ace took the both, sliding smoothly on the leather cushions. He crossed his arms, resting his eyes comfortably as he waited for his pizza and beer.

Katrina watched nervously as Jasen spoke. He was rather out there, speaking in cut sentences. It didn’t take long for her to realize he was being distracted by the scent of food in the air. They were standing next to a burger bar, where he seemed to know the man behind the counter. Food did sound good, seeing as how she hadn’t ate it what felt like days, yet burgers never were her favorite to eat. Her gaze looked around the dome. It was massive inside here, for the short amount of people she could see. There were restaurants and shops around of various things. When she spotted a sushi place, she was indeed surprised. “They have fish on Mars?” she asked Jasen, in a perplexed tone of voice. Her common sense told her that of course they must have a fish nursery, but she still found it strange, and didn’t trust the food from there, even though sushi was one of her favorite snacks.

She tapped her feet on the ground, crossing her arms as she looked at Jasen, then back at everyone in the room. Her eyes narrowed, taking in each face she could see. In a way she felt scared, since she had no clue what others were capable of. Couldn’t anyone hurt, maybe even kill others? Was there some type of law that prevented those to do so? And if so, who the hell enforced it? Being raised in her German lab, everything was strict, order was kept, things ran on time. All of what she was used to didn’t seem to apply here. Everyone was off doing their own thing, eating what they wanted, etc.

“I think I am just going to.... walk..” she finally stated, watching as Jasen now took a huge bite out of his burger. “Thanks for getting me here and letting me know the basics,” she added, showing honest appreciation. With that, she began to walk away, her long jet black hair whipping behind her in her smooth steps around the circle of the dome. She kept quiet, not wanting to draw any attention to herself. She peered over her shoulder, watching Jasen still eating away. A smirk crossed her lips, a feeling in her gut making her want to laugh. This was really happening... and this was only day one. What was she going to do with herself? She finally stopped near an open space, right next to the glass dome wall. She leaned up against it gently, resting her head on the cool wall.

Crip couldn't see what Leon and Keely were doing, but after a few seconds of them hovering over the prone figure of the girl like vultures over an almost-dead gazelle, they were shoved aside and the newbie stumbled to her feet. She appeared to be in better shape than Crip, which didn't match up with the events as he remembered them. But there she went, running out of view like she hadn't just had the shit kicked out of her. Crip's arm creaked as he scratched his head in puzzlement. "Keely must be some miracle medic." he mused, then stared at the rest of the crowd milling around for a few more seconds before he got bored. "I suppose I should leave. The stooge brigade will be looking for me." With that, he wiped up his blood and carefully made his way back to his apartment on the roof.

--------

Crip pulled the hatch closed and shuffled over to his sink, a fixture stolen from the next dome over and halfheartedly fixed between homemade shelves so the whole thing together almost looked like a kitchen counter. He started washing his arm and wincing at the pain. There would be an interesting scar there soon. It wouldn't last long, but for a while it would look pretty cool. He traced the small shape of her hand on his forearm and replayed the whole thing in his head with a smile. It was a few minutes before he realized he'd stopped cleaning his wound and was focusing entirely on the memories. On one specific part of the memories at that. His smile vanished. It wasn't the action, or the pain, or getting away from Leon again, or even the way she ran away with that mad look on her face afterwards. In his mind he saw her fall against him again and he could feel how light she was. He'd snaked his arm up her chest to press the makeshift blade to her throat, but it was the press of her breasts on his arm that lingered in his memory. He'd pulled her close so he could move her easily, but only now did he notice how warm her small body had been...

Crip dug his fingers into his wounded arm to shock his mind back into the present. It worked. "Fuckin' oww!" And now it was bleeding again too. He went back to washing it and scolded himself for his childishness. "Crip! Are you suddenly fifteen again? Such a beautiful step towards a less ignorant world and you're sitting here lusting after a teenager? Grow up already. Jesus!" He'd considered forcing himself on someone before. After all, it would have just about the same effect on their psyche as what he'd done today. He'd even gone out with just those intentions once, but the moment he found the perfect girl, he suddenly had no more desire whatsoever. Crip had told himself it was stupid anyways. That it was something brainless thugs did, because they didn't have the mental fortitude to accomplish anything more meaningful. They were just following that animal instinct forever buried in the subconscious from humanity's primal ancestry. But Crip? Crip had a deeper purpose: a mission. And doing this would only serve to debase that mission and make him look like just another goon. He told himself that to distract himself from the real reason he couldn't go through with it. He'd never wanted it, just something unnervingly similar, yet completely different. A more modern instinct to humanity. Crip wanted to fall in love.

The thoughts weren't going away. They never did once they'd worked their way into his head. Cursing, Crip stomped (as well as he could) over to his freezer and pulled out the fifth of whiskey he'd bought a couple weeks ago. He took a long swig and set to wrapping his arm. It took him only a few minutes and a third of the bottle. Crip checked out the bandaging, gave it an approving nod, then turned on the bottle with a look just a shy more critical. "I'm going to run out at this rate." he finally decided, then took another swig and stared for another few seconds. "I guess I better go get more."

------

Not liking crowds, Crip stalked around the outside of the commerce area in the closest dome somewhat meekly. He trailed his hand along the glass wall, so he wouldn't lose track of it, and stared inward, looking for an alcohol vendor not surrounded by people. He held just over half a fifth of whiskey in his other hand, not willing to let a little exercise ruing his buzz and force him to start all over again. The thought of that filled him with inappropriate amounts of dread. Buildings and faces churned in front of him, and every now and then a voice. Then it was there, a vendor with a full line of bottles on the shelf behind him and not a trace of a line of people in front of him. Crip started to take a step forward with thoughts of a speedy transaction and a quiet trip home, but caught himself as his prosthetic hit the ground. It twisted as he put all his weight on it, still not use to walking on it drunk, and he glanced around nervously to make sure his stumble hadn't drawn any attention. Not that anyone cared about another drunk, but right next to the alcohol vendor was a burger stand, and in front of that was Jasen piggishly shoving an oversizes burger down his throat. Best not go near that and risk grease splatter...or a bullet to the forehead. Crip took another swig and carefully returned his hand to the dome wall. He moved on, a bit more mindful of his bad leg. It wasn't too much longer before his hand hit something. He wrinkled his brow and turned to see what was protruding from the glass. It was a person....and his hand was covering her face. He yanked it back with a jolt and lifted the bottle in front of him, more as a wordless explanation to the probably very confused bystander than as a shield. Then, after a moment's though, he jiggled it as a peace offering as well. She was rather cute, after all, and Crip was still in that dangerous mood. She wore a form fitting space suit that looked about a comfortable as a layer of baked tar, and now that his hand was out of the way, Crip could see she had bright turquoise eyes. He couldn't help but laugh at the look she was giving him as he spoke. "I'm sorry. Hah! Er...let me make up for it? Not even half the bottle gone yet." He raised his eyebrows as if to say "Go ahead. It'll be fun."

Ebony stumbled blindly through the streets, her eyes blurred and unfocused. She could barely see a thing and each step was clumsy and awkward. Her head still throbbed and a large egg had formed there where she had been cracked over the skull by that lunatic. Which lunatic? Who had hit her? She didn't know. She couldn't remember. She didn't even care. Her memories were muddled and unclear, but there was one thing that she could be sure of and one thing that she would live by from now on. Everyone here was mental and each one of them was a threat to her. They wanted to harm her. They wanted her dead. She could trust no-one here, no-one at all. But they had helped her, they had healed her, hadn't they? No, they'd harmed her and they were the reason she was in this mess. Confused thoughts whirled around her mind, causing contridating things to clash. She could trust them. No, she couldn't trust them. Or could she? No, they were all untrustworthy and wanted her dead. She could only count on herself to survive, not a single other soul. It was down to her. Why couldn't she trust them? Oh yes, they had tried to kill her. Shaking her head, she stumbled, stretching a hand out to stable herself. A darkness was invading her mind, one that she was unable to control. She was fighting it, but bad thoughts filled her head about the people in this world and their intentions.

A shudder crept up her spine, as she drew to a halt, pressing her back against a cold wall. She slumped down so that she was sitting on the floor, knees drawn to her chest, forehead resting there. Her ebony hair curtained her pale face, which was drawn with dark circles underneath her bright eyes. Despite her current appearance, she still had a look of beauty about her. Nothing made sense to her. She would wait until her head was clear. Then she would get up and find some shelter, as far away from anyone as she could. The attack had changed her. Sure, she'd been a fiery little thing before, with a sarcastic attitude to match, but never had she felt so isolated in her whole life. She felt alone in the world, with a deep concern clouding her mind so she couldn't think probably. That one incident had broken her. He had twisted her mind and now it was warped. But through that darkness, there was the tiniest amount of light that she was still holding onto. All it would take was for someone to show her kindness and a bit of love for her to begin to trust once more. Again, she wished that her father was there to make everything alright, to hold her, to care for her, but he wasn't. Sudden tears sprung to her eyes and she wiped them away furiously, lifting her head, snuffling. Looking around, she realised just how long she had been sat there, although the watch on her wrist no longer meant anything, it read that several hours had passed. She simply couldn't sit there moping any longer, plus her head had began to clear and her sight was much better than before. She had to get up and so something. But even as she thought that, she could not force herself to do so. What was the point? She had nothing to do, nothing to live for. She could sit there for an eternity and no-one would care or blink an eyelid at her. But what a waste that would be...

A sudden revolution hit her, causing her fists to clench. This was his fault. That man who had attacked her. That was the reason she was in such a state. She would find him and she would make him pay. A smirk played evilly on her red lips. Hauling herself up, she pressed a hand against the rough wall. But where to look? She didn't know this place and she could barely remember him. But someone had to know him. He seemed like the type that would be well known. Her eyes were drawn to a vendor just across the street, a burger bar just across from that. She'd start there. With a purposeful stride, she started off towards it, keeping her eyes firmly fixed on the man behind the counter. Her evil smirk had been replaced by an innocent smile, that gave her a pretty look. As soon as she reached the vendor, she widened her smile, leaning against the counter. "Well hey there, I was wondering if you could help me?" She asked, casting a quick glance behind her and tucking her glossy hair behind her ear. "I'm looking for someone, but I don't really know much about him if I'm honest." She laughed, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. "I'm really forgetful, but I'm sure this man is a bit of a rogue, who loves to go against Leon and his team. Remind you of anyone? And I think his name began with a C, but I'm unsure. He has something of mine and I just wanted to get it back." Her lie was smooth and innocent, completely plausible and she hoped that he could help her. She wanted to find that rogue who had threatened her, who had caused her so much pain.

After a few minutes of being watched, she moved away from Peng’s tight grip; a soft smile on her face. She really liked her new friend; his silence was more welcome after the shock of being moved from her home and family
If that was what you called it. Her ballerina like steps flowed, touching the dome’s floor without disturbing the mars dust; silent in her approach. The eyes of the men turned towards her, bodies tensing under their thick outerwear. She held up a silent hand of peace, nodding her head deeply to show her respect to them; unwilling to be hurt over such a little thing. Her heavy gun lay heavily next to her hip, utterly untouched. Her hand ran along the cold glass, her chain clicking loudly in the quiet room, fingertips searching for the button. A small circle of warm metal came between two of her fingers, she pressed down, ears wincing at the harsh sound of the buzz. The left soldier twitched oddly, drawing her palms to the handle of her gun, letting her arm take up the heavy weight. Her eyes flickered o the other guard, who shook his head and she felt shame for her reaction, letting the strain return to her shoulder.

“Yes, how can I help you?” Came a board voice from the machine. She felt a rush of anger, had the stupid woman forgotten them already?
“This is Tildy, can you let us in? I havnt eaten in over 24hours and could do with some rest just as much.” She spoke as politely as her emotions would allow, leaning against the wall by the mouthpiece. Around her feet twisted the Skitter, yellow fur brushing against her bare skin; it’s body a little fatter for the food it had found. Great, even the cat had food now; she cursed the woman behind the wires silently. She brushed a hand through the soft strands of her bright red hair, waiting for a response from the lady who had taken little or no notice of her existence; despite the fact their intercoms were still linked. She turned to watch Peng, who was once more hovering at her side; she thought he must have low confidence, always hovering at her side.
“Give us a few minutes, someone will be down to give you passes to the trading area. You won’t be allowed any further until you have had registration and taken some form of identification, but at least you can eat.” The tired voice clocked off without so much as a good-bye.

Peng’s heart shot into his throat, they were allowing him in? His bandages roiled along his human like body, giving his silhouette unnatural lines , coiling like tentacles. He had not been allowed in the inner dome since his parents had traded him, no matter how he had tried they would not see him as a mutant rather than a beast. Joy swelled in his cogs, making them spin ever quick in his fake chest. He looked up at Tildy, wondering for a brief moment if she was joking with him, it was not allowed for any of the beast to pass the inner gates. All he saw in her deep green eyes was anticipation, for what he did not know, but he was glad to see that she held not malice towards him. His steal gaze fell upon the two soldiers who left the room without another word, the right one nodding politely but noting more. As soon as they left his voice started through the darkness, singing to the minds that surrounded him.

“Hi, thanks for coming down.” As she spoke her words were clipped. Heading to the messenger before her “I was about to starve to death!” She swiped the two cards from the young girls hands, not bothering with politeness this time. Her mind could only deal with so much distraction and Peng’s happy song fulfilled that without any difficulty. She smiled, pulling Peng to the door behind her, ignoring how unnerved it made her to feel cloth rather than flesh. The dome was huge, opening out before them and seemed unending with its roof blocking the view to the other side, stalls spreading out as far as the eye could see. To the left were food stalls of every kind, smells of many different cultures wafting over. Her nose started off towards its favourite food, pizza, mouth filling at the delicious smells. She dragged her companion along behind her, taking note of how people dressed and acted, brain storing the information away for another time. She was one of the best analysts of her group, always able to notice the small things, taking them in for reference rather than forgetting them.

Peng sat down silently, keeping silent now as to focus on keeping his limbs untangled. He sat on the stall to her left, not wanting to be too close to anyone. He felt slightly overwhelmed by the large amounts of people, packed into a small space. The beast’s cave was smaller, but somehow they managed to have more space, living in many small colonies rather than a few large ones. His head snapped up as a slice of pizza was slapped down before him, maybe that was how tings ran here. His bandages moved slickly, pulling out a few coins, rare commodity in a ore poor society, handing one to the vendor. He smiled nervously, running his hand over the Skitter that was clinging on to Tildy for dear life; giggling to himself at its flattened ears. His hand unravelled, coils of cloth reaching to touch the unfazed creature, it had seen him do such things many times. He watched the large man behind the counter, wondering how he felt about serving a beast, almost everyone in the dome knew Peng, he was always around and one of the head traders for his quadrant.

“Hey can you pass the chilli please?” She asked the man next to her with white hair (Ace), a smile on her face. The people around her seemed so relaxed, unlike where she had come from where training had been all that was in her mind. She looked down at the man’s bottle a large smile spreading across her face, white teeth glittering in the dim lights. Was that beer? They had never before been allowed any form of alcohol in the laboratories and she had always wished to try some. She pointed towards the bottle, nodding at the man behind the bar that she wanted one. Her foot tapped on the stool as she waited, taking up her pizza for the first bite. It tasted sublime, hunger pushing away anything that might have once been bad, telling her to eat it all. She put the slice down, swivelling in her chair and lent against the bar, watching all the people go past with an inquisitive look. Her back arched pleasantly, stretching the tired muscles, kept still for too long and aching because of it. She glanced at the man again, wondering if he would pass her the chilli or if as per usual it was easier to do it herself.
(urgh tired)

“Why thank you, Mary Sue,” Ace said in a rather southern accent, almost as if he was trying to be funny, to the pretty blond waitress that served him his plate of pizza and his cold mug of beer. She gave him a smirk, but rolled her eyes once she turned around so that he couldn’t see as she walked off. Ace eyed her up and down, always thinking her the most attractive employee here at the Pub—probably one of the most stubborn ones too, for out of all the times he asked her out on a date, she denied him. He didn’t understand why this was so, for most girls in the dome got along with him and were always interested in dates. In Mary Sue’s case, it was because she knew of his bad boy reputation. She didn’t want to get involved with anything that some might refer to as illegal. But that’s beside the point; Ace always wanted what he couldn’t have. This waitress seemed to be his most difficult challenge yet. “It would be just a date!” he raised his voice, trying to catch her attention before she got to far away. She turned around briefly, an expression of contempt in her eyes. I guess that would be a no then
he thought to himself, taking a long swig from his mug, enjoying the warmth he felt in his chest once in went down. His pepperoni pizza slice was huge, almost covering his whole plate. He lifted it up with both hands, taking a significant bite out of it.

While chewing, he heard a voice from his right side. Upon turning to see the face of whom was speaking, his eyes widened slightly in surprise. It was the same woman he had seen outside of the Dome earlier next to Peng, trying to get inside. Apparently she made it in, as well Peng himself. Ace was thrown back a bit by the beast’s presence, wondering if he was really allowed to be in here or if people were just passing a blind eye over the situation. Hell, if no one cared he was here, Ace didn’t care either. Ace swallowed the food in his mouth smoothly, then wiped his mouth off with a napkin.

“Sure thing, miss,” he said with his classic charm, moving the bowl of chili over to the woman who asked for it. Her red hair was a sight to see, having not seen someone new come in to Mars with a head of hair that color in a couple years. Then again, his own white hair made a statement in itself. He contemplated for a few seconds afterwards whether he she let her be or strike a conversation. Obviously since she was new to this planet, she would most likely want some time to recollect and take in what was all around her. Then again, her almost pleasant attitude was giving him different ideas. Go for it. He took another swig of beer, then spoke.

“I can tell you are new. What is your name, if you don’t mind me asking?” Ace asked, smiling at her in a friendly manner, adjusting his body language as to face himself closer to her. He was an outgoing, fairly popular man, most knowing his name in this place. His suave moves made him a ladies man. To any outsider looking at the pair, they were probably thinking Ace was on to a new conquest with her. That could have been the case slightly, for she indeed had some beautiful features, but this time around, he was in it to be friendly. Ace was after all one of the first few people on Mars to come into contact with her probably, and he wanted to set a good impression.

.

While Katrina sat up against the glass, she continued to watch those around with amazement. How did they ever get used to such a lifestyle like this? As if it was just normal? It would never be normal to be living on Mars. It was unnatural, humans weren’t meant to live here. Her attention drew across to the room, eyes resting on Jasen, the only person she knew of by name, that she could recall. A smile rose a bit when she noticed one of the other new arrivals approach that same hamburger bar. It was the girl that looked almost identical to herself, both sharing the same sleek black hair that stretched down to their mid legs. The only thing that put the two apart were their clothes and the color of their eyes, and maybe a slight age difference. The fact that there was someone so closely resembling herself made her feel more at home. There were at least 20 girls in her German Science Lab that looked identical to herself. Having someone come close to that same DNA on Mars have her a better feeling about herself.

She was lost in her thoughts of the girl across the room when she was abruptly brought out of her focus with a brief smack to the face. Her mouth dipped open, a confused expression playing across her features. Fear was the first emotion she felt, followed by anger that she was so rudely hit. Had this stranger not seen her sitting there against the wall? It took a few seconds before realizing that he was holding an alcoholic beverage of some sort in his other hand. Oh, so you must be drunk, she thought to herself, peering up at him with her bright eyes full of angst.

“No, thanks,” she murmured, clenching her fists to her sides, holding back an urge to want to stand up and yell at him in his face. Something in her stomach told her to hold back, and that he seemed a bit
dangerous. Drunks always seemed to make trouble, which Katrina desperately wanted to stay out of. Especially while she was still in the process of figuring out her malformity, or in brighter terms, her “power”. Not to mention his looks were kind of holding her back from standing up to him. He had a creepy look of grunge and an odd smell, plus even a few missing fingers. She cringed a slight bit, but tried to keep a steady face.

Benjamin was finally in the realm of the living. He walked into the market area, and looked around at everyone. He noticed that man Ace, the new woman was could graph metal into her body, Katrina, Ebony, and the one beast... He didn't know it's name or really care. He stood in the doorway to the area calculating everything. Escape routes, possible weapons, vantage points, possible threats (which was everyone), and areas where he could have an advantage in case something broke out. Benjamin was raised to kill ever since he could walk. Everything he did was for a purpose, and was calculated. It was a mystery why they didn't watch him closer, didn't that boy scout Leon read his file? Well it didn't matter.... He needed to eat something to dumb down the effects of the alcohol in his stomach. He sighed heavily, and began to make his way into the open area. His dull gray boots thunked softly on the metal, with each step he took. He glanced around scanning to see if anyone presented any hostility towards him, though it would be hard to tell. He was over 7 feet tall, and made of pure muscle. Someone of that stature was going to turn some heads, though his build wasn't bulky. His muscles were extremely dense, which made him leaner than you would expect a person of his strength to be. But the fact still remained, you didn't want to be in his grasp.

Benjamin, looked back to those faces he saw earlier today, watching their expressions. Most seemed at ease, but still nervous as they tried to adjust to life on here. He made a turn and walked over to the man behind the counter. He nodded, murmuring his usual order and walked over to a table. He sat at a table by himself, with plenty of room around him. One would think that he was paranoid, by keeping his distance and always watching his back. But it was a part of his training, anf when you really thought about it. You were put into a huge metal bubble, filled with beings that had powers you might not even be able to comprehend. On top of that, you were exhiled to a dead planet, where it wasn't safe to walk outside. So it made perfect sense for him to watch his back.

When his order was ready, he walked up to the counter, and grabbed his entire pizza and walked back over to his table. He got some looks for taking an entire pizza, but he would burn every calorie and then some he gained from this, so it didn't really matter. He took a slice, and slowly ate it, his premier choice of drink was water. When it wasn't alcohol at least. Ben just ate minding his own business.... but he couldn't help but see Crip. That man from before, talking to Katrina. Why didn't he notice him before? No, he did.... But it just didn't process in his mind. His eyes scowled threateningly, what was he up to now? But he held his position, just watching and eating. No need to draw un-needed attention. Though he was ready, he was always armed and could fight at any given notice. That's what he was trained for...

She leant back, head turning to look at the man handing her the chilli, a small frown on her face. She had not expected anyone to call her miss here; she thought that would have gone after she left the organic company’s fold. Still she wiped the doubt from her face, leaving a smile in its place; her hand touching the reassuring handle of her gun, in a practised but unthreatening manner. She spun gracefully on her chair, facing her delicious slice of pizza once more. Her tanned fingers took a sizeable pinch of chilli from the bowl, sprinkling it over her pizza as she watched the other man. He seemed a little unsure as to whether or not to talk to her, or at least a little unsure of her presence; in truth she couldn’t put her finger on which, still he seemed nice enough. She took a large bite of her pizza, eyes closing at her joy over the rapidly spreading heat, from the obviously mild chilli. She loved hot food, the intense feel of it warning her insides, making her feel the prickle of uncontrolled life. She slowly came back to herself, swallowing and turned to listen more closely to what the white haired man was saying.

“My name is Tildy and yes, I arrived today.” She took a smooth sip of her beer, nose scrunching at the taste. “You can tell? I didn’t think I looked all to different from everyone else
But then that may be because I’m not used to being around so many people
” She blushed, feeling that she had rambled on a little to long. There had only been 10 of her fellow Super Soldier hopefuls at the Organics, no more than 30 staff in the facility; here there were hundreds of people, maybe thousands. She felt out of place around so many, like she made little or no difference by being here; she shook her head at the thought, pushing it to one side for another time. At least this guy seemed welcoming, the first person to give her a smile since she had come to mars and she appreciated that. Taking another deep pull on her beer, she looked over him, trying to see what he had been designed for; she had a knack for being able to tell that.

“So what’s your name?” She asked, moving her hand away from her gun for the first time. “This is Peng and I suppose my new Skitter.” She smiled as she said this, the soft bow of her lips curling up. She bent low on the chair, flexible enough to not to need to get down and pick up the little creature. Her fingers touched on the ochre yellow coat, flecked here and there with rusty red markings; she quite liked the odd creature and its obvious love of her. She pulled it up into her lap, letting the little paws patter about as it lent up onto the counter, sniffing her food with a look of great hunger. She laugher, pulling off a bit of her pizza and letting it nip at the slice in her hand; glancing up encase that was unacceptable. She looked away back at Peng, only to find him standing and giving her a little bow.

“I shall leave you for a moment, I want to look for some of the other new people and make sure they are settling in well.” He spoke the soft words into her mind, silver cogs taking on an almost violet hint as he spoke. He nodded to Ace, knowing him well and knowing his reputation even better, at least he knew Tildy was safe for the moment with Ace. He moved away, his mind mostly on how his bandages should move to keep the look of flesh, but also on who he had seen outside only earlier that day. He headed towards the burger stall where Ebony stood, talking to the man behind the bar, her face full of anticipation. For a moment he stood just a little way off, though he had read all the profiles, he could see little difference between the two long, black haired girls. He listened carefully to what was said, head tilting one way then another, trying to think of a way to distinguish her, other than with the colour of her eyes.

“Young miss, it is Ebony isn’t it?” He spoke into her mind with his most calm voice, walking up to stand beside her. “Do you remember me?” He asked, looking up at her from his 5 ft body, young face shining with innocence. He could sense something was more than a little odd about her, but knew better than to be rude. He stood watching her in utter silence, the world buzzing around him. It was so loud inside the dome, he was used to the silence of the outside, even more so in his own cave, where the only noise was the small Skitters and his soft voice singing into the dark of the world. He wondered what had happened to the group after he had left to take care of Tildy, she hadn’t seemed so.. on edge before. The muscle of her body seemed tense as though poised for danger, or possibly a fight, but he didn’t want to think of her being in a fight. He tapped a foot against the floor, but no noise came from the motion, the bandages crumpling when they touched the solid surface, only returning when he moved back.

“Can I help you with something?” He paused, unsure if this was too much even for him. “ I can come around the trade areas with you, most people go there for anything they need.” He rarely spoke this much, his voice leaning towards song by the end of every sentence, a strange thing to hear in your head. He moved off, unsure if she would follow him, or rather like normal he would walk off by himself and explore. He had no problems with being alone, not many people liked how silent he was, finding it unnatural to be around. He paused, looking over one shoulder to see it she was coming as well..
(hope its ok that i posted again, but i thought it was about time!)

Leon had left the dropping off to the other soldiers, he didn't have the need to be a tour guide for the day, they all seemed like relatively intelligent people. He told his men to take the day, and he retreated to the confines of the HQ. He wasn't really feeling up to the effects of the day, he hadn't really done his job, with a few of the people running off in fear and others walking, he didn't really even give a ride to those that came in, really he just felt useless at the moment. He sat at the table in the squad room and cracked a beer open, taking a real hearty swig of it, then setting it on the table listening to the static noises around the room, the tv, and a slight hum from the radio that sat in the room also. The guys would have a good time tonight at least, he knew that Jasen and Matt would end up at a bar somewhere, and be stumbling drunk by the morning. Cait, well she would do whatever it was she did, the one member on his team that he had no idea, what she did on her free time, she was just happy about whatever it was she did. Keely would come through that door sometime soon and sit and talk with him, and drink with him, but would eventually go out with the guys and have a good time.

He killed his beer and lit a smoke, walking about the squad room, looking at the suits they used for spacial exploration and combat, they doubled very well, room, maneuverable, and lightweight in a sense. He went to the fridge for another beer, thinking about the day, getting slightly angered by the thoughts of Crip and Ace.

*******

Jasen had gotten the memo via com radio, it was a great thing to hear, that the rest of the day was his. He was standing by the burger joint, where he had escorted Katrina a while back it seemed, where had she gone to? He looked about, thinking of what the plans were going to be tonight, he knew one thing, he was gonna hit that bar up early and well, yea. He had seen a lot of interesting people over the years that he had served under Leon and it seemed that a lot of the women that they had escorted in had at least a small interest in the men of the squad, he recalled a man even trying to get to know Cait, but that hadn't turned out the best. A shiver ran over him over the thought of the screams of that man when he had tried to touch the girl. He started walking around the market area, finding the bar where he usually met up with Matthew at, and Keely would be by sometime later. She always seemed to have a plan to do something before she met up with them, but Jasen really hadn't had a clue to what, but that didn't matter, as he walked into the bar. A little uproar of commotion sounded as he entered. Yes he was known here, and he could be the heart of a party, but tonight he just wanted to drink and have a somewhat mellow time. He looked about the area and got himself a drink and went on wandering the crowds of people talking here and there. Running into Matthew a few moments later at a table where the guy had drank a few pitchers already and had a little company from the fellow frequenters of the bar.

*******

Keely had stopped by the door of the squad room. It was where Leon went to think, she had known about this little place for awhile now catching him coming here at odd hours and also when things went wrong. What as he blaming himself for this time? She took a deep breath and walked through the door and into the room, getting a beer tossed at her from Leon a moment after she walked in. She caught it and blushed slightly, had he known that she was going to show up? Was she that set on trying to keep his head on strait? She looked at the beer and cracked it open, sipping at it as she looked across the room, eventually taking a seat at the table, and shuffling the deck of cards that sat on it. The cards had been set there for those days where there wasn't anything going on and everyone had nothing better to do, right now they were a comfort, something to play with while sitting in the silence of the room.

Leon looked up at the sound of cards shuffling and a smirk came across his face, she was nervous again, and trying to comfort him and herself. He walked over to the table taking a seat across from her. "Blackjack." He simple stated, she looked at him with a confused look but dealt the cards out and began to play. "This one hand will give me the answer I'm looking for." He looked at his cards, a 6 and a 5. He looked to Keely as she looked over her hand, her face not giving away what she had. "What do you mean, this hand will make up your mind?" She asked a little confused, but also interested on his thoughts. Maybe he wasn't so torn up over the events of the day, even so though she still felt like they failed, hell one of the girls would never be the same after the attack.

"Hit." Leon said and Keely slid a card to him. He looked at it and shook his head. "Again." She slid him another card. "Ok." He flipped his cards. 5, 6, Ace, 8. 20. He smiled pleased with himself. She looked at the hand and smirked at it. "So what did you mean, this hand would make up your mind?" She flipped the cards, blackjack. Leon leaned forward to see and slammed a hand down on the table playfully. "Damn looks like I'm headed to the bar." He stood up and headed for the door, leaving Keely at the table with a shocked look on her face. This was the first time he'd be out there with the guys.

Keely drove Leon sat on the passenger side, looking out the window. Was this the right thing to be doing, who knew, but it was a change of pace. The doors to the bar opened, with a cheer as Keely walked in but went silent for a moment when Leon stepped in after her. Was this the affect he had on people? Serious and no fun. Well he didn't want that going on he knew that people thought of business when they saw him, but he didn't want to be known as all work and no play. The crowd parted as he walked back to the table where the others sat. He got greeted by his men and ordered a drink, while the crowds hustle started up again, slowly. It probably wasn't a good idea to be here, but locking himself away from other people wasn't a great idea either.

((OOC: Ok random post but i think i made up for the time that ive spent away, not sure though lol. I'll try my best from now on to check this one too as im running through websites lol.))

The girl's reaction slowly filtered through Crip's foggy mind, but none of it was clear enough to register at the moment and so was stored for later contemplation while he continued his attempt to be social. He'd been trained for that. "A perfect citizen is polite and sociable; everybody loves him." the words of his etiquette instructor floated by unnoticed. Since coming to Mars, Crip had spent many a hour cursing his design. Who needs a perfect citizen!? I could be a soldier or a politician or a scientist, but they wanted an upper-middle class worker!? And I wasn't even good enough for that!? Of course it was an attempt to seed the population with perfect genes in hope of improving civilization on all levels--a noble goal--and Crip knew it. But it still pissed him off. Right now, his thoughts were along the lines: Dr. Pickering's "Socializing with Alcohol" segment never mentioned trying to befriend a bemused, mutant, martian, girl after slapping her across the face. That class was becoming more and more useless every day.

"Don't be discouraged to easily;" the instructor's voice chuckled in the back of Crip's thoughts again, nonetheless. "most people out there haven't been so lucky as to take my class." And he wasn't to be discouraged so easily. He came out here to meet someone and this is who he met. Putting his hand to his chest as if feeling a pain, he made a mock-hurt face, then laughed and smiled at the girl before spinning around and dropping down next to her. He took one more swig and set the bottle between them. "Well, the offer still stands if you change your mind." He told her in his friendliest tone, trying to recall the cheeriness he spoke with back on Earth and unsure how well he pulled it off. But as his eyes left the bottle and drifted upward, they stopped on his legs sprawled out in front of him and the look she'd first given him suddenly made sense. He often forgot he didn't just look scary when he wanted to, but all the time. His one complete leg sat next to the girl's own, but his right leg looked absurd, barely extending past the knee before turning into a rubber-capped rod of curved steel. It made the rest of his appearance rush to the forefront of his mind as well. His clothes, while always old and a bit ratty, were usually clean, as was the rest of him--the need for hygiene haven been drilled into him day after day back on Earth--but but yesterday he had fallen asleep right after working on his roof and today had jumped straight into things without cleaning up. So he had come out here stinking and filthy. There was actually a chunk of thermal sealant stuck to his pant leg. Then he had offered this girl a drink from a hand with obvious incomplete fingers? It was no wonder she looked disgusted. And frightened. Even when I don't want to be....

The sudden wave of self-consciousness-leaning-toward-self-loathing made Crip's stomach turn over. He pretended to shift to a more comfortable position, but in the process scooted a bit away from the girl and tucked his prosthetic foot behind him; his left hand closed into a fist, hiding the ends of his fingers and he suddenly found it hard to look at the girl. He spoke to avoid awkwardness. "What's up with hanging around at the dome wall, anyways? All the excitement's out there." he gestured towards the interior of the dome and prayed to any god that might be out there that she'd reply and not just run away.

Ebony batted her eyelids one more time at the tender behind the stall. He leered at her, leaning over the counter, his eyes raking her body for a moment. Something about him made her want to run. "What's a pretty girl like you doing out here alone?" He sneered, reaching out a hand to grab her arm. Fear shot through Ebony, as she realised her mistake. He wasn't about to help her on this mission. This simply backed up her point that everyone was out to get her. Was she just picking bad people to talk to? Or was it more likely that everyone here was as horrible as the first one she had come across. She was starting to believe that the latter was true. Her eyes flickered from blue to red in a second, before they switched back again. The tender looked surprised, letting go of her arm. Ebony had seen her eyes change colour when she was angry before and she realised that the that's what the tender seemed shocked about. Stepping backwards away from him, she almost tripped over someone else, surprised to find someone standing so close to her. Righting herself, she turned to the voice just as it said her name. Frowning, she prepared herself, her body tensing more than before. Her eyes fell on the man, as she tried to place a name to the face that was looking at her with interest. She could tell what was going through his mind, probably the same as most. That there was something wrong with her. "Yes, it is Ebony," She answered in a stiff voice, her hands clenched into fists, although she didn't mean them to be. "No actually, I don't remember you."

Just as the words left her mouth, she turned her head around, as if to turn away. As she did, she caught her reflection in the glass of one of the shops. She barely recognised herself. She had a wild look about her, a glint in her beautiful eyes. Something looked wrong. She looked insane. Her body was tensed and rigid with anger. And her manner, she suddenly realised how awful she must have sounded when she spoke to someone who was kind enough to talk to her politely. Because he was the only one so far who had been kind enough to treat her with some respect and she had been utterly rude to him. Something in the back of her mind screamed at her that she needed some help and most of all a friend, but this thought was pushed away by the dark shadows that were swirling in her mind. Guilt washed over her even more when he asked her if he could help. She turned back to him, her eyes softer than they had been before. At the end of the day she needed to find this man and he seemed like the perfect man for the job. Making her mind up, she was about to go against what the shadows told her. He was already walking off by the time she had decided and she had to jog to catch up with him. "That would be nice. No-one has really been willing to help me and I'm more than a little bit out of my comfort zone." She whispered, hoping to make up for her rotten attitude towards him just moments before. So what if some had been horrible to her? This one was perfectly fine, or so he seemed to be. No Ebony, remember to watch your back. He is probably just like the others. She couldn't help but think such things as she followed him through the busy streets, careful to avoid anyone that might cause her some damage. She couldn't stop her eyes from scanning every face for the one who had attacked her, though she did it on the sly, making sure not to make eye contact with anyone. She didn't know what she's do if she saw him. Would she be able to control herself? Or would her mind loose its sanity completely? She didn't want to think about it, because some of her mind was still sane and fighting to be heard and for her to reason with herself.

((Sorry it's short! :( I've got writers block!))
