Bio/Summary: Preston currently stands a bit shorter than most human males, and about an inch or half shorter than his identical twin, James. His build is thin, but "athletic," stemming from his high metabolism and exercise. Due to the U.E.G.s relaxed regulation rules for mercenaries and his own personal preference, he keeps his hair at medium length, though a bit more on the long side, the back of his hair touching just a bit below his shoulders, while the front comes down to his jaw. He keeps his hair brushed to one side, and also sports a full beard, which he keeps well groomed. The scars on his lip were obtained when he was mauled by his dog as a kid, and the scar on his neck is from surgery, though he tends to hide it with his hair. He also speaks with a Texas dialect, and, like his brother, occasionally swears in Spanish.

PERSONALITY
Preston is quiet, usually sitting alone in his room, praying, smoking cigarettes, or somewhere on the ship. He doesn't talk much, and seeing him smile is a rarity. Preferring to listen, only speaking when he feels that he needs to, and when he does, it's usually only a few words. This doesn't mean he's anti-social, the reality being he doesn't want to upset anyone and just doesn't get excited as easily. However stoic he can be, he cares and loves his brother and friends more than himself, putting them first and himself second, and would do anything to keep them alive, without regard to his own life. Occasionally he can be pretty talkative and cheerful when the mood is right, or when he's around people that he trusts. It's near impossible to make him upset, due to his nature, though he will lash out if he is provoked enough. Regardless, he is very caring and loyal to those he serves with.

He has a complex view of the world, seeing it in both a cynical and hopeful view; the world and it's policies corrupt and broken, but still saveable.

He also holds the same moral compass as James, having an unusual degree of concern and compassion for the weak and innocent. He'll do his best to help those who need it, sometimes giving money, food, supplies and medical attention to those who need it. On the other side, he is unforgiving and merciless to people who commit acts of terror, and people who harm innocent lives.

As with James, he has religious convictions tied to the Christian faith, though he keeps it quiet, regarding it as his own business.

EQUIPMENT/ABILITIES
Combat/Battle Dress Uniform: A custom designed "sneaking suit" made of aromatic polyamide fibers, the suit clings tight to the body, providing a small amount of physical protection due to the suit's fabric. The shoulders and thighs are padded in a ribbed-like design, with a thin layer of graphene in between the padded layers for added strength and protection. The suit's sleeves cut off near the elbow, leaving the rest of the arm exposed. Preston covered these area's with long, blood-red colored gloves. The gloves have black straps that connect from the wrist, move up the arm and connect to a set of buckles near the shoulders. The gloves also have a hardened layer of kevlar on the knuckles, to aid in hand-to-hand combat. The last additions to the uniform include a black military harness that holds various pouches that he keeps medical supplies, his cigarettes, communication equipment, food rations, magazines and other items to aid him in the field, and a set of leg armor that covers his shins, knees and thighs. The leg armor is bone-white in color, and is made of a titanium ceramic material. It has a "waffle-like" texture, and he keeps his Bowie knife and MAC 10-styled pistol holstered on each thigh. This is held up by the harness, and the suit is completed with simple, bone-white combat boots. The suit is colored light olive green, while the shoulder and thigh padding has a metallic silver coating.

His gear and equipment is lightweight, taking advantage of light and strong advanced synthetic materials. This, in conjunction with his body type, makes him quick and silent, perfect for his role as a scout, contrasting to those of a "standard" larger and heavier build, who use heavy armor and weaponry.

Off-duty/Civilian Attire: Due to being born in Texas, and being half Mexican by his father, Preston has adopted Old Western attire as his normal, off-duty clothes. They consist of blue denim jeans, a blue denim bib shirt, a black and white poncho with traditional Mexican design-work (to express his Hispanic heritage), a black, "Gambler" styled cowboy hat, and black leather cowboy boots.

Weapons: Having an obsession and preference to blades and melee combat, Preston studied and trained in various forms of knife fighting, as well as taking Judo and CQC classes, being proficient and excelling in both. He carries a 16'' custom Bowie styled knife as his main weapon, which he uses with great skill, preferring to use his abilities as a scout to get up-close-and-personal. Though mainly focusing in CQC, he will, when he needs to, switch over to his custom .45 ACP, MAC-BP "Burst Pistol." It's a compact MAC-10 styled machine pistol that was built to fire in semi-auto and three round bursts for his sidearm, which he uses with deadly accuracy. The MAC-BP has a threaded barrel to accept a suppressor, and has a detachable wooden stock, which increases stability and accuracy. The MAC-BP has a standard clip of 30 rounds. This is his standard loadout.

Abilities: Preston, like his brother, was raised in an outdoor lifestyle, growing up with nothing but forests, hills and farmland, where he and his brother learned many techniques relying on only themselves, instinct, and the little equipment they had. The skills he took from the most was obtained from hunting, including tracking, stalking and ambushing. He uses these skills in conjunction with his role as a scout; tracking enemy movement and positions, stalking the enemy and being able to hide or advance without detection, and ambushing them before they can react. These skills are also enhanced by the fact that he and his brother spent a lot of their time learning to shoot from an early age, sharpening his marksman skills, learning how to use his environment to an advantage, and simply relying on his own abilities. Though growing this way didn't kill his interest in technology, as he was given a computer as a child, he has grown to be very handy with computers and simple electronics. Aside from this, he is well versed in martial arts, studying Judo and excelling in grappling, being able to take down enemies bigger than himself.

This makes him well rounded in general, being able to operate in urban and open environments, and apply mid-range and close combat.

BACKGROUND
Not a lot is known about him, such as his last name and anything beyond what he is comfortable sharing. What is known is that he has an identical twin brother, named James, who he is inseparable with. He was born and raised in Texas to parents of white and Hispanic backgrounds, which he tends to lean more towards his father's Hispanic side. He and his brother stayed at the family ranch, doing ranch work and simple chores while attending school. He had a few good friends that he and his brother would meet with every now and then, and would usually go exploring around the forests and hills that surrounded them. Growing up, he worked a few jobs to provide for him and his brother, as well as joining a local militia as part of a reconnaissance unit. He lived comfortably for a few years until he saw the effects of countless wars, disasters and overpopulation, reach the simple town he lived in. Deciding to take action, he and his brother sadly left their tiny home and parents behind, and signed up with the U.E.G. as freelancers and were assigned to the Marco Polo. He was accepted into the Second Guard Unit as a scout, his skills and knowledge helping immensely. While having no actual battlefield experience, save for the training and he received in the militia and his martial arts class, he isn't afraid to fight for his family and friends, and for the survival and salvation of his species. He hopes to someday return and fix the problems plaguing his home. As for now, he's eager to see what lies beyond the stars.

So begins...

The Captain looks at Gelon, surprised. "You're....a father?". It took him a while to let that sink in, then he chuckles, somewhat bittersweetly. "Then you know how I feel....how much I would rather retire than stay in this floating tin can with four psychotic robots." He sighs, and leans his head back. "....I guess that's what you get for evading taxes......".

He stays quiet for a while, then lets Gelon tutor him more on the ship controls, seemingly feeling far more comfortable with Gelon's presence now.

---------

The Captain slouches in his seat, his hat partially covering his eyes, and he chuckles as he hears Gelon's words through the intercom. "That will be fine, Sir Deskovitch. Good luck on your mission."

Deunan nods at Erik's words, and replies; "Yes Sir!"

Clockwork nods quietly, looking around, holding her shotgun tightly.

Mosa roars with laughter at Raxis' words. "HAHAHAHHAHA!", and smacks his back in a jolly, friendly way. "If you're scared, you could just say so, comrade!" Holding a partly-mischievous, partly-monstrous bear-like grin, he continues, "We won't judge~"

Ozma scoffs at Raxis' comment, with a smug frown on his face. "I agree. This is a big waste of time for you offensive team members. Waste of supplies too, if I may add. If my family was here, they would be so bloody cross."

Ozma's family, the Howitzers, are one of the major funders of this trip. One can't help but wonder if his position on board is because of nepotism.....

Clockwork has no opinion, while Deunan looks at Raxis with a vaguely concerned look.

She looks forward. The terrain of the asteroid is unstable, untamed, rough, and lifeless....just as one would expect. Rocky ground for miles and miles ahead. And this is just one of the myriad thousand asteroids on this belt. This is going to be a long trip.

"We should keep moving. Me and Preston will take point", Ozma proclaims, and leads on.

The zero gravity environment would trouble most rookies, but even the least experienced members of the squad had some basic training for space maneuvering. For people with extra equipment, such as Raxis and his cyborg body and Mosa with his hovering thrusters, movement is a lot easier. For others, the gravity boots or jetpacks are a great asset.

-----

As Durandal sneaks and schemes amidst the darkness.....

...He hears...

....A song. A beacon. A call.

...Somewhere.

...What is this?

Sympathetic. Mechanical. intelligent.

Whatever it is.....

..it's not far.

The announcements from the loud speaker woke him up from his nap. He sat up in bed and listened as Captain Jergenssen relayed orders. Being part of the defense crew, his job was to search the asteroid for stuff. Nothing particular, just whatever they deemed interesting. Stuff. Not that he minded.

He got out of bed, suiting up and grabbing the E.V.A. helmet on the floor, not having any time to freshen up or make his bed. Time did not permit it. Locking his door behind him, he took a brisk walk to the armory, grabbing a new canister of oxygen and swapped it with the old one. He shortly arrived with the rest of the crew, just in time to catch the speeches made by Erik, Raxis and Ozma. While Preston didn't have any sort of allegiance in regards to whether they should stay on the ship or not, he did lean towards Raxis and his idea that going out when the skirmish was still fresh on everyone was a bit odd. But he put the thought aside.

He grabbed a sweeper device and put on his helmet and gravity boots. Since Ozma declared them both on point, he and Ozma took the lead, stepping out onto the dull, rocky-pitted surface. The feeling of zero gravity immediately taking over, making his first steps a bit clumsy and awkward. Even though the training had familiarized the crew to a degree, simulations never matched up with the real deal. Regardless, the gravity boots kept him anchored, and that's all he needed.

"okay cap, and if something does pop up well beter hope I'm still close to the ship" Gelon said and as soon the air lock opened to space he jumped out slowly floating through space and watching into the infinite blackness, the countless stars and the huge asteroids passing by.

Gelon activated his suit thrusters and slowly went to the asteroid while holding a box with research equipment. He opens the box and grabs the stone cutter and a sample box out of it, gelon cut out a small triangle out of the asteroid and put it in one of the sample slots in the sample box "guys what ever you do, don't go in, on or attach to a asteroid cause you will get it's speed and then you might be faster or slower then the ship and you don't want that" gelon warned the others and keep collecting samples from the surface before he went deeper and then deeper again "good thing these are just harmless rocks now" he said and went back to the airlock to deliver the samples for research then went back to collect some more

They proceed to explore the vast asteroid field, hopping from one large rock to another. One truly feels just how.....vast....the universe is. Time passes, and countless asteroids have been surveyed. Nothing but dead rocks.

On one of the larger asteroids, Erik, Abigail, Deunan, and Mosa are grouped together. Mosa crouches down in his hefty armor, and places his palm upon the surface, feeling it out. "Ahh.....strong rocks here. Very strong." Deunan, meanwhile, turns to her left, and gasps as she notices the first planet they can see.....a bright, colorful planet.

"Look!!", she says while pointing. "That planet.....has..such a pretty viridian color!"

...Viridian. Odd. on Ozma, James, and Preston's side, what they see is not quite viridian...it's more of a...cyan planet. Ozma turns to the two besides him. "..Viridian? She must be daft. That's clearly cyan."

Either way....it doesn't seem like there's anything of interest here. Only floating rocks. Perhaps it's time to return....
