Running, chasing, Millie followed after a rabbit she had spotted, dodging between trees and bushes of the forest as she stalked after her rabbit-prey. On all fours, using a tail to balance her, and a keen nose on the end of her muzzle to guide her, Millie chase the rabbit, building enough momentum to them spring herself forward, pouncing, pushing her paws down onto the prey, forcably squeezing shut it's windpipe and she ripped at it's flesh, snarling as she ate. Blood poured out and formed a pool aroud the rabbit, and in that pool of blood, Millie saw the face of a young brown wold staring back at her.
Millie awoke with a gasp, sitting up as the sudden bright white lights snapped her out of her dream. She looked around, see that she was in a room, a plain white room, with white furniture. A wardrobe, desk, chair and the bed she was lying on where all that occupied the room. The door was stamped in black numbers '261'.
"Wakey wakey 261" Millie heard, turning her head to see a man in a white lab coat, concealing his face with a surgical mask. He looked like an ordinary doctor.
"Stand up" he ordered, and so, dazed, Millie slipped out of the bed and stood. It was only now that she realise she was wearing a white hospital gown - had they removed her clothes while she slept? The thought shivered through Millie as she looked to the doctor, waiting for his next word.
The man clicked his fingers, and on command two female assistants began to inspect Millies body. The ran their fingers through her hair, peered into her mouth, poked at her nostrils, one of them even tugged Millie's gown aside, checking her behind. Millie flinched. The female assistant shook her head and looked to the doctor,
"No tail" she said. Millie furrowed her brow,
"What?" she mouthed. The doctor grinned. The other female assitant then spoke,
"No claws, no ears, no fur and no sharp teeth" the both looked to the doctor quizcally, who just stood and smiled, then nodded,
"You see, 261, we've injected you with the DNA of a wolf, as part of an experiment. most subjects sprout animalistic features, a pair of pointy ears, a fluffy tail. But you, however, don't seem to have re-acted that way." The doctor lifted his gloved hand and cupped Millie's chin, she snarled.
"But,you have gained some wolf likely-ness. So it's safe to say this experiment isn't a fail. Hooray, you're allowed to live." The doctor chimed with an evil sounding chuckle. He waved his hand at the two assistants and they left with a nod. Then he spoke again, stepping away so that Millie could now see the mirror he had been blocking from her view. Millie held back a gasp. She stared at herself with her now, golden glowing eyes, and her grey-ish, brown-ish hair. She lifted her hand to brush through her hair, it felt softer than before - like fur.
The doctor headed toward the door,
"You will be let out of your room shortly to mingle. There are others like you here, so you won't be alone. Have fun settling in, you're going to be here a while" he said, then with another devilish grin he turned the door handle and left, closing the door behind him. Millie heard the click of a lock and suddenly she realized what he had meant by 'a while'.
