[ General Description ]
Rin is a well-built and healthy looking woman who stands at a respectable five feet and eight inches tall. Her build is one of someone who eats healthily and gets just enough exercise to stay in relatively good shape, though certainly not an athlete by any means. Her skin is a bit on the paler side, giving the accurate portrayal of someone who prefers to spend their time indoors. Rin also bears no easily visible scars nor tattoos, though it looks like her right ear was pierced some time long ago and has since healed over.
The near black strands of Rin's hair are often kept in simple styles but are prone to changing frequently. When she's working or studying she often ties her hair up in a ponytail which, accompanied by the rather stern expression she wears while working, typically serves to give her a much more mature appearance. Most other times however she simply leaves it down to do as it pleases, only taking care to fix her bangs. Every few months or so however when her hair reaches a certain length, she cuts it rather short before letting it grow out once more.
Her typical style of clothing is a bit plain, rarely flashy and often on the safe side with a preference for looser fitting shirts and coats along with dresses or skirts as opposed to tight pants or shorts. She strays away from loud colors or patterns, preferring more reserved tones of grays, whites, blacks, deep navy blues, or most commonly green. One commonality among her appearance no matter the circumstance are her trademark red glasses which she only seems to take off when she's sleeping.
Inner Soul
Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.
― William Shakespeare
✔ Books || "What's not to love? Books are wonderful, amazing things... And, well, I could go on forever, so I'll leave it at that."
✔ Libraries || "And what's better than a book? A building full of them!"
✔ Learning/Discovering new things || "To expand one's mind and knowledge should be the goal and joy of any scholar."
✔ Glasses || "Well... I guess I just like the way they look on people."
✔ The color green || "Something about the color always seems to put me at ease."
✔ Helping others || "Seeing others smile because of something I've done feels wonderful, and I think the world could do with a bit more kindness."
✔ Owls || "Aren't they cute?!"
[ Dislikes ]
x Getting wet || "Such a pain... Having wet hair or clothes is so uncomfortable, not to mention the damage water can do to a book."
x Alcohol || "I'm uh... What they call a lightweight."
x Liars || "Human societies and relationships are built on trust and honesty, if you ask me, betraying that is just awful."
x Cooking || "If you must know... It's because I'm a horrid cook. Always have been and my Pa would never let me hear the end of it."
x Vegetables || "Erm... Well... It's a bit embarrassing to admit as an adult but, I really can't stand vegetables."
[ Strengths ]

[ Weaknesses ]
☠ Easily embarrassed/flustered || It's not hard to get under Rin's skin and get her blushing or flustered, even on accident.
☠ Gullible || Rin often takes people and the things they say at face value, trusting that most people are honest. She has a hard time reading others or picking up on deception pointed in her direction.
☠ Her glasses || Not only does she have very poor eyesight without her glasses, but she is very protective of them which can cause her quite a bit of stress in the event that they are lost or damaged.
☠ Sweets || Rin absolutely can not resist sweets of any sort (though her favorite is definitely chocolate cake). Such foods can often be used as a bribe or reward to get her to do just about anything.
[ Personality ]
When first meeting Rin, she gives off the impression of someone who's a bit shy and quiet, the type of reserved girl who keeps to herself inside with a book. While this impression isn't totally inaccurate, those who spend a bit more time around her and who she becomes comfortable with come to see another side of her. A vibrant, passionate, and kind woman with an endearing and genuine smile who revels in the company of those she considers her friends and family within Fairy Tail. Though she sometimes need a bit of prodding from those around her, Rin can be very outgoing, energetic, and sociable, contrary to her rather bookwormish appearance and tendencies.
Rin is also quite studious in nature. Born with an indomitable curiosity of the world around her and an intensely inquisitive nature, she seeks to learn and discover new things at any and every opportunity. This unquenchable thirst for knowledge is what birthed the girl's love for books and libraries which lives on strong to this very day. Rin has always been dedicated to her pursuits of knowledge and is a very hard worker when the situation calls for it, possessing the ability to be serious and stern despite her typically jovial nature. It can sometimes be hard to break her free from this mindset once she's set in and it is often quite taxing on the girl's energy and emotions.
Ever since she was young Rin was never the best at dealing with her emotions calmly or reasonably. Always quick to blush and become flustered when confronted with anything that made her feel even the slightest bit embarrassed, Rin is a woman who wears her emotions on her sleeve and who couldn't deceive her way out of a wet paper bag. When a thought or emotion makes her uncomfortable her usual response is to simply avoid the subject, and as a result has a hard time being totally honest with her feelings, particularly when it comes to someone she might be attracted to.
Rin's history is not a noteworthy one, the only child of her father the baker and her mother the florist, her childhood and life growing up was quite quaint and happy. Always a daddy's girl, Rin gave her all in order to please her parents, in particular her father, and was overjoyed at any praise she received for her actions. Being the bookworm she was, Rin didn't make many friends among the other children, her friends were her books and her playground the library. The local librarian became something of a mentor and teacher to her, and would eventually be the one to teach Rin her magic.
Between her time spent learning what she could, helping her parents with their work, and practicing her magic, Rin had little time for much else. Her life moved at a slow, but enjoyable pace like this for several years. Slowly but surely however her curiosity and desire to see more of the world grew, there was so much she had read and heard about all sorts of things out in the world, but she had never experienced any of them. After spending much time considering her options, she decided to join Fairy Tail, and though her parents were naturally worried, they sent their daughter off proudly to pursue her dreams. Though Rin's time in Fairy Tail has been fairly short up to this point, she's enjoyed every moment of it and has no regrets leaving her old life behind.
