"Can you beat me jindal? Can you kill a dragon who taught you everything just for your guild? For your so called friends?" The black dragon scoffed and laughed as he saw Jindal and Jamboree stand up. "I'll help you destroy this cocky lizard and we can go home." Jamboree said with a cough and a heavy breathe as he spit some blood on the ground. "Let's go Jamboree Unison raid!" Jindal formed a circle of shadows around the dragon as Jamboree threw all the swords he could summon into the ground around the dragon who dodged them all equally. "Ha! you two missed now I'll finish this with a..." Jindal laughed as Jamboree ex-quipped herculean armor. Jindal Used the shadows to hit the dragon with a roar from all sides. The force blew the swords at the dragon impaling him with all the swords. The dragon was growling from inside the sphere still clearly alive until a giant fist of shadow came down on the sphere causing a massive explosion of darkness. The two mages looked up to see their opponent still standing...

5 Years Later...

"Hey jindal's back that's him right the black dragon?" A few people asked as a dark mist flowed into the guild's main room and a figure shrouded in it walked in. He threw the paper at the nearest flat surface. "5 year quest complete. I've killed Nagiru the black dragon. Jamboree is busy getting our new friends and will be bringing any new members into the guild hall soon." Jindal announced before finding a nice dark spot to sit and fall alseep.

Asa was busting a table at the restaurant she was getting this month's food money from. She was silent, looking down as she cleaned the tables, she wore a white apron over her usual black attire as she wiped down the table with a cloth and set the menus back up. She avoided the front door, the sun was always too bright to her, so she cleaned the tables with her back to the entrance.

A choir of commotion jutted Jin out of his slumber, one hand autonomously grasped the hilt of a blade while the other prepared to slip off the sheath. It wasn’t a healthy practice sleeping next to sharp objects, just something that grew on the adolescent swordsman. He decided to be one of the few guild members to sleep in the guild hall since it’s usually a very peaceful morning. But this awakening contradicted such a belief. Once his pupils dilated, he eased his guard around the katana and sat upright in his bed, wiping the sleep out of his eyes before letting out an unrestricted yawn. ”What is it so early in the morning…” His movements were groggy and sluggish, taking a few seconds with each turn until he finally got out of bed and dressed himself. Rather than going with the iconic military uniform, Jin decided to sport something a bit more casual; a brown sweater with a corresponding undershirt, a pair of black jeans with his sword buckled, and a scarf the same tint as his hair.

With a nod of affirmation the boy exited his room and lethargically proceeded down the halls, accidentally letting another yawn bypass his lips. When he had seen it himself, the commotion was most definitely warranted. It had been quite some time since he had seen that scruffy face. But looks were always deceiving, albeit Jindal appeared to be a slacker, and without a doubt acts like one, when the time called he managed to commit some impossible feat and save the day. The mystery shrouding him was almost as dark as the mist he had the tendency to pop out of, but Jin wasn’t one to pry an amnesiac. He actually liked spending his time effectively, rather than pointlessly wasting it. Not a moment had passed and the studious Lyla was already machine-gunning orders at the recent returnee. The teal-haired girl was so hellben- determined to exceed her family without assistance, a rather authoritative personality had came to fruition, one which sharply contrasted with the innocent Lily. Speaking of the blonde, she was already comforting Jindal as soon as Lyla stormed off. A slight smirk parted the corners of his lips at the sight. But that expression quickly changed to distraught when the clutz gracefully tripped and spilled the sweet beverage.

Jin ran a hand down the back of his neck and paced his way over to the side of the room, ”If you sleep like that, your back’s gonna go out when you’re older. Long time no see, Kiddo.” Even though he was only two years Jindal’s senior, Jin’s mature personality far exceeded his age. ”Hey, I didn’t see you bearing a bag of any sort. I hope Jamboree has the souvenirs with him, or my heart may shatter into a million pieces.” The swordsman grabbed a towel from a nearby table and motioned to Lily that he would clean up the spill, ”This stuff’s expensive, be careful with it next time.” He gave the girl a kind smile and discarded the towel in a receptacle, ”Sleep on one of the couches and get a few minutes of shuteye, unless you want Lyla to give you another earful. Even though it’s been five years, I’m still a coffee addict. Gonna head out to my usual joint, you know where to find me.” Jin began to make his way towards the exit, but suddenly paused and glanced back, ”Glad to have you back. Can’t wait to meet the new members.” He waved at the two before taking his leave.

The aforementioned joint happened to be a restaurant he fancied. Customer flow at this hour was practically nonexistent, so he found it the best time to grab his morning refreshment, chock full of caffeine and invigorating goodness. The shop’s bell rang as he opened the door, Jin peered inside to see who was present. Nobody as of yet, excluding a lone waitress setting up the menus. The white apron heavily contrasted with her black attire, almost to the point where he wanted to verbally note it. Although, the pair of opposite colored wings did manage to catch his eye. Humanoids were considered a commodity, but usually one’s facial features were matched their inherent animalistic characteristics. He shrugged and sat himself at the restaurant’s bar, and waved at the girl, ”Erm, could I get a cup of coffee please?”

(lol, I didn't mean for her to have wings, that was just the best pic I could find, but I can work off it.)

Asa looked up then looked down again silently, returning to her work as the shadows on his table started to shift to form dark lettering in front of him. I am not a waitress, I'm only here to clean. She then turned and went to bring the dishes to the sink in the kitchen then came back out with a broom, ringing the bell as she went and a real waitress came out and took his order.

"I... I... Layla I am not in the mood for your yelling right now. I knew the target very well and it was the only thing I remembered and I had to eliminate it! So just back off for a bit!" Jindal yelled still covered in the dark shadows that cloaked his every detail like mist before letting them drop. He was bruised and heavily cut in various places. He groaned a little from the pain before standing up and holding out his new swords both made of dragon fangs and the sheathes were made of black scales. "I killed the dragon that taught me my magic for this guild. I then carried Jamboree on my back while bleeding for two days without any sleep. I then spent the next four days fending off the urge to sleep so I could help him recover so I think I earned some rest!" He said before coughing a bit and being forced to bend over. "I need to get a little rest and I need a meal. I refuse to eat stale bread or muddy water again. I'm bringing more jewels next time and I sure as hell don't care for this part of the reward." He muttered tossing a silver key onto the table in front of him he then gave a cocky grin before turning to the request board.

"You guys weren't interested in joining our guild from the start were you?" Jamboree said staring at two now knocked out people with the guild symbol for a dark guild called Death Head Caucus. "We came to get a guild member back from you guys His mission is done our master said. He didn't return yet and we've tracked him down you idiot. I know who you are you're from..."

Image

5 Hours Later...

Jamboree entered the coffee shop looking beaten and tired but carrying a bag of goodies. "Hey Jin seems our new members were actually fakes. Death Head Caucus was trying to get some spies in. Good thing I felt something wrong or it might have worked." Jamboree said before opening the bag that contained a dragon head and some claws but it also contained a few roses. "Look what I got! We're gonna put it on the wall in the guild's main hall. It was Jindal's idea he said it would respect his old mentor." Jamboree set the bag down having cleaned the head before putting it in the bag.

Asa sighed as she heard more people enter the restaurant. She'd been told that people didn't come in at this hour. She slowly made the corner she was cleaning darker in shadow, as to try to hide and be not as noticeable with this stupid bright white apron on.

Jin tilted his head as the girl continued with her cleaning duties. Something out of the corner of his peripheral vision caught his attention, he shifted uneasily in his seat as he watched the shadow of his table slowly creep its way to the top and proceeded to form lettering on the cloth cover. ”I’m not a waitress, I’m only here to clean… Oh, I see. My apologies.” This place was better off than he had expected. They had enough income to higher employees with specific roles, rather than jacks-of-all-trades. He knew that at least everybody who walked through the streets had an ability of their own, no matter how versatile or effective, everyone had a tince of something. But this girl’s ability was something strikingly familiar, ”...It’s just like his. Maybe we should have Jindal patent umbrakinesis…” A fraction of a smile formed on his face at the thought, but she definitely had a noteworthy ability. The waitress she called was a familiar face and instantly recognized him as a regular, greeting the coffee-seeking boy with an endearing smile which could charm any passerby. ”So, what would it be today, Mr. Akri? The usual?” Jin returned the expression and nodded, ”Yes, please.” The waitress disappeared into the kitchen to prepare a brew, leaving the two alone yet again. He was tempted to help her out with cleaning, but that sense of accomplishment after completing a task was probably her sole form of motivation to get through the day. It was rare to see people work normal jobs so religiously.

A majority of the populace were members of a guild, and depending on the conglomerate’s fame or notoriety, could bring in a lot of income and a few renowned titles. Jin unconsciously began to twirl the end of his scarf around a finger while he waited for his coffee, with the meticulously working girl as his only way to kill the time. That was the case, until another individual skulked into the restaurant and sat down next to him. A bewildered Jin slowly turned to his right and glanced up at the titan of a man. His hand began sneaking its way towards the hilt of his blade, just in case. Most people were easygoing, but once in a while there are those loose cannons who waltzed around with enough pompour to drown somebody. He could recount the times he was involved in bar fights, which he always came out on top, but drunks were surprisingly more persistent than normally sober individuals. If this guy suddenly started magically chugging beer through his helmet, Jin would already be able to tell that he would be in for a bad time.

The waitress finally returned with his coffee on a circular platter and placed it in front of him. ”Thank you.” The boy gently blew at its surface to cool it off. A third person suddenly made an appearance, just to spice things up, and thankfully he was bearing gifts. It was Jamboree, and as per the usual, roughed up as if he was just in a tussle. His comrade ebulliently showed off the contents of the bag, and also informed him of an attempted internal attack. He gave the guild members a surprised look before leaning back in his seat, ”Well, at least you caught onto them before they rooted themselves in the guild. Would’ve been a real hassle hunting them down for any stolen information. Man… I was really looking forward to the new members.”

Jin tipped the cup and gulped down a portion of the bitter beverage, ”Speaking of Jindal… Go easy on the guy. He came back today looking like he was beaten up by a neighborhood bully, and nearly fell asleep on the spot. Lyla gave him one helluva earful for it.” The swordsman propped his chin against the palm of his hand and stared at his friend, ”I’m sure there’s a lot running through his head right now. It would be best to give him a few days off, considering the quest he just finished...Now as for the new members…” Jin glanced at the ginormous man sitting a few seats down, then back at the girl who was now attempting to seclude herself in a corner. He placed an arm around Janboree’s neck and pulled him closer, then dropped his voice to a whisper, ”We have two new candidates right here. Anybody’s acceptable. They don’t need to be deities, just have to be able to take our place in case we fall victim to some godawful fate.” A playful smirk abruptly painted itself on his face, ”Also, that girl over there can control shadows, and might have a few more cards up her sleeve. It’ll be interesting seeing to umbrakinesis users in the same guild. As for the other guy…” The task of recruiting him seemed impossible, merely striking up a conversation with him was daunting enough.

Jin released his friend and gave him a pat on the back, ”Well, g’luck~ Use that Sword God magic you always use to woo those fangirls. Who knows, maybe he likes roses?” The boy backed away from the table, simultaneously picking up his coffee cup and walking over to the girl sweeping to her heart’s content. He set the platter down on the nearest table and paced his way over to the girl, then tapped her on the shoulder. ”Hey, you can take a seat. I’ll sweep for you. Also, the name’s Jin Akri.” He pulled out a chair for the girl and then offered an open palm, ready to accept the broomstick. ”Would you care to join a guild…?” He suddenly perked up when he realized how sudden the question may have sounded, ”Sorry, um, don’t feel obliged to answer right away. There’s a trial run and everything for it, but most people tend to take a liking to Cait Shelter.”

Asa, who hadn't been paying a lick of a attention to anyone else in the room since that would require some form of interest in them, jumped and gasped in surprise when she felt a sudden tap on her shoulder, causing her defensive to instantly turn on. She jutted forward and crouched into a ball on the ground, a shielding ball of darkness appearing around her as tendrils of darkness arose from the ball and began thrashing around, knocking anything and everything around her away. Seems it wasn't so much that she disliked people... but that she was terrified of them.

As soon as he thought it he heard someone enter the room. Now normally, he wouldn't have cared to take notice if it wasn't for him talking about guilds. It was good timing as well, it seemed everyone in the room was feeling tense because of him. Especially the lad sitting some few seats away from him. He noticed out of the corner of his eye that boy was feeling uneasy at the sight of him. It seemed the lad calm down when the new patron arrived, the one from a guild. He recognized the name that was being thrown about, Death Head Caucus. It was a dark guild and a particularly nasty one from what he could tell. The one from the nearby guild must have dealt with them personally. Perhaps there are strong mages in the local guild, especially to handle a group of Death Heads.

The other one began to respond and from listening in on them, he realized the kid drinking coffee was indeed another guild member. Perhaps he won't have to ask for directions after all. It seems he had a rare stroke of luck walking into this restaurant of all places. Even though he could hear quite well inside that helmet, it did hinder him from exact hearing when the two started to speak in a whisper. He wasn't sure what they were talking about, perhaps it was some secret guild business or something. Still, he's heard all that he needed to hear. Off the side of his vision he noticed to two separating as the coffee drinker went over to talk to the girl. For what reason he wasn't sure, he wasn't really paying attention to her.

He glanced over to the other boy, the one who fought the Death Heads. He didn't look like much but then again, neither did the other one. He's young himself but he's past his adolescent years and has grown into a man. He was about to go over and speak to this kid when suddenly he heard a gasp and then ruckus ensued. He turned his body around to see the girl perform Shadow Magic. "So that's why he went to speak with her...they must be recruiters." Hunter thought to himself. It was then a chair came flying at him and with his quick reflexes, managed to grab one of the legs before the chair crashed into him. He sat the chair down on the floor as he quickly stood up and moved over to kid who disturbed the Shadow Mage. He reached out for the kid in an attempt to pull him away from the flailing tendrils. "Perhaps you should've had your friend woo her first." He curtly spoke.

She was sitting in a pool of blood, It was a guild war, with more emphasis on war. The dark guild, Overlord, has successfully decimated another guild, with Equtas herself being the killer of the guild leader. The crimson painted the walls, bodies decorated the battlefield. The guild leader of Overlord was sitting on a throne of corpses, her "heroes" behind her. A motto that has become the saying that keeps the other guild members sane. The ones with power should be the ones who uses it, if you aren't using your gift, it's a waste.

Equtas' eyes shot open, she was holding her mouth, as the dream has sickened her, damaging her mind and her throat, they were her old memories, the old her, the sadistic monster who would maim someone in a heartbeat, the person who would incapacitate someone beyond repair, she doesn't have all her old memories, but appearing in the safety of sleep, wasn't helping all too much either.

Equtas didn't have a home, and not even a sleeping place. Of course, her shy nature refused to let her sleep with "others", in the vicinity, so she slept closely outside, she didn't have much things in her pocket, except the clothes on her back, of course she does missions, her power at the moment being a bit lower then an S-Level, but she doesn't do it as much, just the thought of missions gives her memories she rather forget. The clothes she was currently wearing is plates of armor on a purple striped dress, attire that was similar to her previous style, even if it triggers unwanted thoughts, it felt more comfortable wearing something she was used too.

Equtas slowly got up. The ground wasn't merciful to her choice, remaining as cold and rigid as it should. The white haired girl briefly held her head, and did her daily rountine, luckily, no one would dare to look in a dark, ominous alleyway such as the one she was residing within, so she got a hint of privacy in a densely populated town known as Fiore. Swiftly, She made her way towards the restaurant.

A big, burly man seemed to be occupying the doorway, only because of Equtas' is rather small stature, she barely squeezed through, stepping over the less then important bodies on the ground, and sitting on an unoccupied seat. She was quiet as always, she is appeared enough times, with the same order, that she didn't need to call over a waitress, the ruckus seemed to be decelerating the process, but it gave Equtas enough time, to non-creepily observe the other members.

The main culprit of the racket seemed to be Jamboree, who made quick work of two unidentified individuals, Death Head Caucus, was it? Equtas didn't pay much attention, she was putting the existence of dark guilds behind her, Jamboree, Jindal, and Jin, seemed to make a group, 3 Js. The group has earned the nickname of the three stooges by Equtas, they were all strong, and all nice, in their own right. However, Equtas doesn't like "nice" people, or simply doesn't think they exist in a dog-eat-dog world such as this one.

As for Equtas, she herself isn't as flashy, nor is the other females of Cait Shelter, aside from the black haired female, performing magic in the presence of everyone, the big man himself speaking to her after, the brotherly bond between the three males outshines anything else, but when it comes to Equtas, she is probably not even known in her own guild, she was seen, but never conversed with, no one even notices a rather high-level job being taken from the board. Her goal for joining the guild isn't to make acquaintances, it's to make up for her wrongdoings.

The cup of tea arrived on the platter, the white haired girl nonchalant about the motion. In her moment of pondering, she has forgotten about it's presence, the tea was lukewarm, which in Equtas' eyes is the perfect time to drink it, she couldn't relax with so much people around her, so she quickly got up and left, leaving the minuscule amount that is it's cost on the table, she also took a random job from the board, spending minimal time examining it, walking out the door to her hiding place in broad daylight which was a few feet from the left of the door, as she reads over the mission, she wants to be close to the restaurant, if she ever wanted a refill, of course.

(Guys please slow down. You're posting a little too quick for our less active members.)

"Ha ha very funny Jin." Jamboree said with a surprised laugh before turning around. He then noticed the man catch the chair and he put on his own herculean armor and started moving towards the commotion. He blocked a few pieces of furniture with his arm. He frowned and sighed at Jin before summoning his favorite sword with a frown and started cutting some of the things flying his way. "Smooth Jin real smooth. You should've taken the guy at least I understand personal space." He commented with a chuckle at his playful tease before trying to keep things from hitting Jin.

Jin found it hard to believe that his original intent of coming to this shop was to grab a morning cup of joe. Things had taken quite the turn. Maybe Jindal’s arrival was foreshadowing a hectic day, and it may have been a wise decision to just sleep in. If it wasn’t for his adept reflexes, the tendril would have connected with his chest rather than his forearms. He graciously accepted the outstretched hand of the taller man and wryly smiled at his comment, ”Eh, Jamboree likes his wine a bit more aged, if you catch my drift. Besides, there’s a certain blue chardonnay back at the guild who’s oddly fond of him. Also… since you’re helping, you’re part of the guild by default! Anyways...” The swordsman peered at the mess he caused and could only click his tongue, ”First time I hear her voice and it’s her scream, damn, that’s depressing.” One of the waitresses had already rushed out from the kitchen and gawked at the sight. Or maybe she was awestruck at Jamboree slicing up airborne chairs instead of catching them, like Mr. Helmet. The Sword God was only increasing the amount they would owe this establishment.

Jin quickly glanced at the nearest tables and let out another sigh, relieved at his confirmation. ”She didn’t absorb any of the shadows from the tables, so that means she only utilized her own. It took a majority to envelop her whole body, so the tendrils themselves aren’t too strong. I’ll be fine. Jam, just make sure the waitress doesn’t faint.” The swordsman gulped down any uncertainty and took a step closer to the maelstrom of shadows. He couldn’t help but to feel irony’s sting, thinking that he had drawn the easier lot. This was yet another resonance of the lesson every mother teachers her child; never judge a book by its cover. Another step, and a tendril suddenly flailed itself at Jin’s side. He placed his left hand on the hilt of Izanami, but rather than drawing the blade, he shifted his grasp down to the middle of the shaft and unbuckled the seathe. The cover directly took on the strike, to which Jin gritted his teeth as the force surged through his arm. She was surprisingly strong, even after divvying up that much of her shadow to encasing herself.

Jin kneeled down and offered his hand once more, ”Erm… Sorry about that. I’ll be careful next time. Trust me, we don’t mean you any harm.” A stray tendril slammed into the floorboards next to him, bending planks beyond the state of repair. ”You’ll find a haven in the halls of Cait Shelter. Even if you’re afraid, there’ll be people who will have your back.” It wasn’t because of her ability that Jin wanted her to join the guild. It was because of that feeling of downright fear he felt as soon as he tapped her shoulder, a sense he knew all too well. That poisonous feeling of discomfort. ”I’d also like to hear that voice of yours. Nobody should have to silence themselves for others.” He extended the hand a bit closer, almost to the point where it was but an inch away from the ball of shadow.

Collaboration Pt. 2

As Asa hid inside the ball of shadow she listened nervously to all the conversation going on around her, she swallowed nervously as she heard him offer her a haven at Cait Shelter, forcing herself to drown any hope she almost felt. A bright white light started to paint itself on the shadows, writing letters like the shadows hand done earlier.
I can't have a haven in the day... However, the tendrils did disappear, sinking back into the shadow that surrounded her.

Jin tilted his head at the lettering, on his face was an unbalanced mixture of perplexion and surprise. "So she also uses photokinesis...? Interesting. Maybe she isn't so much like Jindal." In all honesty, he wasn't sure if he could handle to people whose sole ability was popping out of shadows to give people a shock. He eased his guard as the tendrils retracted themselves back into the orb, making his job quite a lot easier. On top of that, the light she wielded was of a notable purity, immortally untainted by anything negative in this world. "You know, they say light of such an intensity is a gift from angels, which briefly descended from the heavens. Of course that's a whole lot of religious hosh posh, but others simply believe it's a gift from the moon." He wasn't sure whether the girl was tied with the sphere which always shined brightly in the night sky, but he could at least attempt to coax her out. "I personally don't care what others think of me, and because of that, I can roam the streets at my leisure. Maybe you might want to try that policy with us?"

As was silent a moment, well, her lettering was silent, before she simply wrote,
The moon gave me life... with the moonlight on the shadow that surrounded her before the shadow slowly sand back onto the floor, revealing her, crouched down with her arms around her legs and her light grey eyes watching him, as if she'd been able to see him through the shadows the entire time. She slowly stood up and looked around at the mess she'd caused, beginning to pick up.

Jin waved his hand and set a chair upright, putting the crisis to an end. "Well, the sun accompanies the moon. They're both forever linked to each other. So... will that be a yes?" He asked, thankfully, most of the tables and chairs were unharmed.

Asa nodded softly as she put the tables back upright and waited for Jin to lead the way.

Jin smiled and gave a quick thumbs up to the other two, who had just beared witness to the whole charade. "Crisis averted!" He stated with certainty, as if the whole thing abided by a plan. "JIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!" Just like that, a giant hand clamped itself around his scalp. The boy slowly turned around to face his demise; the shop's owner. She was the embodiment of the term amazoness, slightly taller than Mr. Helmet, yet probably ten times stronger. She lifted the swordsman into the air, with his flailing arms as his only way of survival. "Mind explaining what happened?" Jin managed to free himself from the grasp and dropped to his feet, taking a moment to catch his breath, "I would go into detail, but I'm just going to skip over all of it and promise Cait Shelter will cover all repair fees. Don't worry Jam, I calculated this month's net income, we're in the clear. Also..." He twiddled his thumbs while looking at the ground, "Yes, Jin?"

"Can I have another cup of coffee to go, please?" The shop owner held herself back from turning the boy into that afternoon's main course, and stormed off back into the kitchen. "Well, we managed to survive that. Jam, want to lead the way to our guild hall? Pretty sure the others will be hyped to see our new members." Jin suddenly paused, as if his train of thought had derailed. After a few moments of silence he facepalmed and glanced back and forth between the two newer individuals, "...I can't believe I forgot to ask... What are you names? I'm Jin Akri, and the pretty boy is Jamboree Maksim.'

Asa watched the store owner almost turn Jin into minc meat, litterally, then looked over at him when she was asked her name and she looked down, shadows moving over her head that read. Asa Sachi She still didn't want to speak to anyone yet if she could avoid it.

Hunter didn't say much of anything else in response to the Swordsman's reply, except say, with a nod. He was more interested in seeing the kid's capabilities. Already he could see two swordsmen in the same building. One was hacking away at the airborne chairs while the other used his sheathed sword to move in closer to the Shadow Mage. He wasn't much for weapons as he trusted in his own hardened body and powerful fists to do the work. Still it was always a pleasure to see another's style of fighting and he could tell that these two are skilled. Unfortunately this doesn't mean a thing until he understands how this guild thinks and acts. They could be happy-go-lucky guys but everyone has their threshold. Hunter watched as the crisis was being handled.

The Kid who started it was doing his best to help calm the girl down. To Hunter, it seemed like the guy was a smooth operator...the kid must be something of a wooer himself. His words were kind, but just how far can his generosity go before it dries up like a prune? The girl seemed to be responding positively to his gentle words as she responded...not in the way he expected. All of a sudden she performed a second magic...the opposite of Shadow, Light. "No...it can't be? Another Chaos Mage?" He thought to himself. It seemed unlikely considering how dangerous the magic is and how restrictive it can be on your life. Yet shadows and light are opposites of one another, not too far off from his own magic. He watched the event with great interest.

It seems this boy with the sword didn't seem to care about the strange nature of her magic. The way she described it was odd...it wasn't the normal way of Chaos. Even so, this girl interested Hunter...he would have to keep an eye on her. Finally the shadows retreated and the Swordsman declared a victory. It was then his joyful mood transformed into one of terror. And well, he can understand why, the woman was as intimidating as he was. It's not too often Hunter runs across another Human being that could match him for height or build. Still he sort of appreciates that...sometimes he feels like a tower compared to the smaller ones running around. Yet in the face of this amazon the boy kept a relative cool and even was bold enough to ask for more coffee. He was brave, he would give him that. Despite not even saying ten words to these guild mages, they've already seem intent on bringing him to their guild. How fortune for him, perhaps he may stay in the guild for awhile. He then walked back to his seat and picked up his expensive suit case and stood around waiting to be led.

It was then they introduced themselves. The first kid he saw was named Jin Akri and the second one was named, Jamboree Makism. It was during this time they asked for his name. He contemplated answering when the girl answered first. Once again she responded not with her voice but with her magic. Was she really this shy around people? Despite the nature of her magic, it would seem reaching out to this one was but a fool's errand. The kids before him however, do not appear the types to quit. Who knows? Perhaps they might break her out of her shell? It was this behavior that made him even more suspicious of her being a Chaos Mage. "Maybe I should speak with her? Tell her that she is not alone...no, if she can be that easily disturbed then my actions would definitely cause a crisis." Hunter thought to himself. It was him being deep in thought that he nearly forgot about answering Jin. He then took a breath, "Hunter, that is my name." He answered. He then waited to be led to their guild, Cait Shelter.

Where My Demons Hide - Imagine Dragons

Jindal saw the notice after sitting at the table and staring at the wall for a few minutes. He then stood and decided he'd do his best not to get voted as guild master. Large crowds and transportation were his only weaknesses and they would be more common as a guild master. "I am not suitable to be a Guild Master due to my past!" Jindal shouted hiding his relief that this would work before a few members he didn't know spoke out. "But you don't even remember your past! Yeah you're fine I think you'd Do great! AYE!" Jindal started to get nervous and realized they wouldn't let him off the hook that easily either. "Shit. Exactly why I shouldn't lead You guys would do better with Equtas." He said trying to divert their attention since he'd been the first to make any comments about mastering the guild. He now had a few people crowded around him. "I gotta go I have a job" Jindal said slightly panicking before vanishing in a cloud of shadows along with a job off the s rank board. He then proceeded to walk outside looking at the random paper he'd snagged.

Jamboree watched everything at the coffee shop unfold before sighing and deciding to pay the shop owner for all the damages and stuff himself before leading the way aback to the guild where he explained what happened to the fake recruits. "I'll happily throw myself into the fray for Guild Master! I've got the experience but if it's not me it should be Jin or Layla maybe Jindal." Jamboree explained.

Jin opened the door and motioned for the three to enter before him. The guild’s main reception room was surprisingly unadorned, with the only spice being the sporadic arrangement of trophies and awards hung up on the walls. No cloth to brighten up the dull colored couches, a barely maintained bar with a few used glasses on the countertop, he wouldn’t be surprised if they were overwhelmed with disbelief that this was the hall of the renowned Cait Shelter. The group had already received the notification of the soon to be held polls from a dispatched guild member, and as expected, many were assembled in the room due to that, in addition to greeting the new guild members.

If anything, Asa and Hunter seemed even more dubious than the two original recruits who had furnished backgrounds. Murmurs seeped through the conglomerate of members at the sight. It was blatantly obvious that more had their eyes locked on the giant in the room, rather than the basically ordinary looking girl. Jin glanced at the expressions the masses were making. Nobody didn’t seem sound in rising up to a position of such omnipotence, or moreso, they had already decided on a few candidates. The person to make this verbally clear was none other than one of the runners, Jamboree. He sacrificed himself for the good of the community, but also mentioned Lyla, Jin, and Jindal. Jin himself didn’t seem to resonate with the last option, as seen by his furrowed brow, Jindal seemed to be a candidate because of his power, but that was it.

As for Lyla and Jin, it didn’t take a genius to state why. They were both longtime veterans of the guild, Lyla was a dominating mastermind with years of adult-like wisdom to back her up, meanwhile Jin had a borderline military pedigree and had a high tier combat style. They had enough jurisdiction to make onerous decisions, but were not considered official leaders of any sort. With that being said, he took the bag containing the souvenirs and raised his free hand, ”I agree, it is time we appoint ourselves a leader, a person to make detrimental decisions during rough times. We may be a guild known for our expertise in combat, but it’s not the strong leader who wins, but the one strength and an equivalent amount of virtue is the one to rise to the challenge. I just want to make this clear, regardless of who we appoint as our leader, this will still be the same Cait Shelter which welcomed you in the day you joined our ranks. I say this with the upmost certainty, because it is not our goals which connect us, but our ideologies resounding in harmony that keeps our ties intact.” He looked over at a group of five members and handed them the bag, ”Find a mantle for this and place it wherever you like. Have Lily help you if need be. I think Jamboree drained all of the blood, but just be careful.” Jam wasn’t exactly known for his tediousness, but hopefully he had the foresight to act accordingly with a trophy from a beheaded dragon. There wasn’t exactly a guidebook for such a thing.

”That being said, I’d rather not run for guildmaster. I’m too much of a goofball to ascend to such a status. On another note, as Jamboree mentioned earlier, we were nearly breached by a dark guild who seem to have a vendetta with us. We would like to ask that guild members travel in teams of two or more, just for safety reasons.” Having issues wasn’t something Cait Shelter hadn’t experienced in the past, a guild with such fame would most definitely anticipate signs of animosity. But going through the hassle of living under a false pretense and fashioning the reputation to bolster it was surprising, even almost plausible. Chances are, this was only a prelude to the symphony of strife soon to ensue.

As the selected members went upstairs to rummage through the hall’s storage, Jin walked over to Hunter and Asa and pointed a thumb over his shoulder in the same direction, ”The second floor is where the sleeping quarters are located. Just find an empty room and claim it as your own. Unsealing the mattress should be enough of a sign to others that your room is occupied. If you have any questions, should be pretty easy to find me. Just remember to knock, don’t want to walk in on any maidens changing~” He chirped the last part while satirically wagging his finger at Hunter, he then turned around to face the whole embodiment of the guild population. By this time, the group had returned with a wooden mantle and was already in the process of setting up the display. Jin showed them all an assemblage of ebullient white teeth, ”Alright, enough with the serious talk! Let’s welcome our new guild members, Hunter Briggs and Asa Sachi!” A chorus of cheers echoed throughout the room, a grand greeting for the two additions. Jin stepped back towards Asa and dropped his voice to a whisper, ”In case you’re not feeling up to the occasion, feel free to make a beeline for a room. Should probably get some rest after working at that cafe.” The boy still took her timidness into account, and would rather not have a repeat of event a few minutes prior during a celebratory event. "So, you two, how does it feel to be one of us?"

"The first hello and every last goodbye."

Asa looked around uncertainly as everyone clapped and greeted them, nodding at Jin's suggestion she headed towards the stairs, though she would pick out a room to store her stuff she was still planning on sleeping outside.

It seemed that the majority of the guild was flooding out of the restaurant, Equtas only noticing after the spectacle occurred, as she was more interested in the tea she was drinking, she did enjoy a cup of green tea. She quickly got up, packed up her belongings and set out for the guild hall, the road there becoming desolate as the wave of members has already passed.

Equtas wasn't rushing because of the anxiety to see the new members, she was making haste because of the job she has acquired, the job was a simple bodyguard mission, but the reward was less then appealing, a measly 1000 jewel, which made Equtas second guess the importance of the individual, after taking a stop to return the mission, (which was obviously a joke), she hurried up the hill, to make up for her loss of time.

As she was running to the guild hall, accidentally bumping into a dark hair boy on his way to a mission, the thump was light, but with enough impact to be noticeable. "Excuse me" Her voice was soft, soothing and mesmerizing at the same time, but she didn't wait for a response, as she hurried inside.

It seems they were doing some kind of orientation, Hunter Briggs and Asa Sachi, people she had seen before at the restaurant, but not at all before that, it didn't shift to first priority, so Equtas didn't pay much attention, her only goal was to collect a job, and leave. The guild hall was relatively small, but the max occupancy has been lapped already. Equtas barely made her way between the various members. When she got to the board, she actually spent time choosing a fitting mission, instead of random selection. She settled with a simple hunting mission, monster terrorizing town. She choose it because for the reward mostly, as the whole town seem to have collaborated to make a fitting bounty. She then swiftly left the guild hall, leaving no trace.

Hunter entered the guild and was a bit underwhelmed once seeing it. He expected something a little more after hearing the gossip about such a place. Still it was modest and he could respect that, after all, he's seen what lavish truly is. He took a quick assessment of the hall and noticed all of the faces falling upon him. He wasn't surprised, of course he would stick out like a sore thumb. Large man like him will always draw attention, regardless of what he's wearing, which he will admit isn't doing much to help him out in times like these. Fortunately he was used to it and was more worried for the rather shy one next to him. It was quite interesting the state of the guild. Apparently he has arrived at a time of great change. It seems Cait Shelter was without a guildmaster.

Already he has heard a few names thrown out an about for who should lead it. They must be consider the guild's best and brightest, lest this guild has a funny way of thinking what qualifies to be a guildmaster. Then he hears about a dark guild infiltrating their ranks. If he had to take a wild guess it would have to do with Death Head Caucus. Guild Wars are never a pretty thing and he's a bit worried he may have entered the guild on the verge of a conflict. Still, he wasn't worried about the mages from Death Head, he could handle himself when the going gets tough. If anything the mages here may come running to him for protection rather than the other way around.

Jin then explained the living quarters being up on the second floor. It sounds decent enough and Hunter would like to deposit his things. He must say, Jin must be brave, he's someone he hardly knows and already he pulls a joke with him. He may call himself a goofball, but so far this kid is the only he's seen to possess the qualities of a guildmaster. Sure, Jamboree is skilled no doubt, but this one shows not only skill, but understanding as well. It was then Jin declared a celebration for their arrival into the guild. It was quite customary for orientation purposes and has witnessed these occasions more than a few times. Despite the uproarious celebration he noticed that Asa has already bounded for the upstairs rooms. It was during him watching her that he noticed another girl rushing past the crowds. She looked bound and determined to do something...not even fazed by his and Asa's arrival or the party that's ensuing. She went straight for the board, "She must be looking for a mission then." Hunter thought. Soon he was brought a beer, being the only one to stand around for the festivities. This took his eyes off the mysterious girl for a few moments and when he turned his eyes back to the board, she vanished. His head turned about the room as he scanned for the girl, but alas there was no sign of her. "Interesting." He thought.

He was a bit distracted that he nearly forgot to answer Jin's question. "Well...," he spoke as he looked at the beer in one hand and the case in the other, "...So far it seems, satisfactory." He said. "I, well, thank you for readily accepting me...it took me by surprise, don't guilds usually ask questions before outsiders join?" As he spoke he felt stupid for even saying that. "What the hell are you doing Hunter!? Are you trying to get yourself ousted this soon!? He hasn't been asking questions and that's a good thing! Do you want to starve out there in the streets!?" Hunter was mentally beating himself up. The one good thing about the helmet, no can see the expressions on your face. Otherwise, what he must look like right now, would send a kindhearted fellow like Jin here, asking all sorts of questions right about now. Questions, he doesn't wish to answer.

Jin traced Hunter’s line of vision and set his own gaze upon the guild’s enigmatic white knight, Equtas. She was never the social type, surrounded by almost as much mystery as Jindal, and with that did not hold a fondness for such events. He only had fought alongside her a handful of times, but those few instances alone were enough to gauge her as a strong force, on par with him. They both specialized in manifesting their magic into beings to fight alongside them, except her summons weren’t as flexible and interchangeable as his. Jin gave a light tug at his scarf as the girl passed him by, his way of bidding her good luck on whatever quest she took upon herself. It was then did one of the guild members swing by with a few beverages. ”When was the last time… Ah, to hell with it.”

Jin waved away any uncertainty and snagged a glass for himself, and gave the member a quick cheers before taking a sip of the beer. To most he must have appeared as a lightweight, given his slim physique, but Jin’s had enough sake during traditional banquets to build up a tolerance. Although, he was a bit interested in how Hunter planned on drinking from his own mug. Maybe he would reveal a portion of his face? Jin shrugged off any thoughts when the man finally devised a response, the manner of which it was asked made him perk up. It started off solidly, but progressively derailed into turmoil as Mr. Helmet believed he was digging himself his own grave.

A playful smirk stretched across the swordsman’s face at the questioning of the guild’s recruitment policy. ”Oh yeah, you’re right. There’s a looooooooot of paperwork we missed out on, and a few oaths and stuff were skipped over, and tradition has it that any faults result in the recruit’s expulsion…” The boy trailed off and longingly stared at the ground, witnessing the man’s reaction out of his peripheral vision. Although he had the emotionless helmet visually defending him, the coarseness of his voice along with the ever so slight increased bloodflow of his jugular were bearers of his uneasiness.

The smirk parted into a grin, Jin pat the man on the back and chuckled, ”Kidding, kidding… please don’t bash my head in. I’ll admit, we’re a bit lax in that respect.” After another sip the boy continued, ”I guess it’s because we can sense peoples auras, ya know, see where their heart is.” He tightened his scarf and relaxed his composure, since it was a celebration, there wasn’t as much of a need to remain on guard as usual, ”...Jamboree and I think in the same light. When we recruit mages, we don’t think about what they can do. We wonder how they can apply themselves? How well they can operate in a cohesive unit with others? How can they fit in? Some excel in certain categories while others struggle. Strong people are nice and all, but what really keeps you alive is working with others. Per example, if I was your opponent, I’m sure there’d be a bit of weight added to the back of my pants with you as my foe. But also, I see you as somebody to mobilize behind, that reserved composure of yours ensures that.”

He sighed and glanced over at the bulletin board, still full of quests waiting to be accepted, ”We also look for how much fun people can have. Excursions are one’s source of happiness, my friend. Don’t miss out on ‘em.” Jin turned to face the conglomerates of celebrating guild members and waved at a certain few, ”Oi, could I get some coffee?” One of them broke into laughter and managed to get out a few words, ”Maybe you want to stop by that cafe again and grab a few more members?” Jin returned the same impish grin, ”Who knows, maybe I will? Perhaps one of them’ll be a busty fox lady, I know you fancy them, Benjamin~”

The member giggled and indulged himself with his beverage, "With these changing times, people will have to come to terms with their weaknesses, for the bettering of themselves and those around them." Jin sighed and stretched out, ”N’ways Hunter, go out there and strike up a conversation with a few of them. Gotta know who you’ll be fighting alongside in the future. I have to bounce, Lyla’s making me allot guild expenditures, and I know hell’s awaiting me, especially after that little event at the cafe. If I don’t come back alive…” Jin placed a hand on the man’s shoulder and looked up at him with empty eyes, ”Tell my metaphorical wife I love her. Well, see ya~” The boy sluggishly dragged himself upstairs, doomed to mounds of paperwork on the third floor.

”Just die already!” The child pleaded, digging the sword deeper through a figure of equal age, blood smearing the hilt as he did so.

Jin awoke with cold beads of sweat running down his face. He instantly sat up and glanced over at sword resting on the other side of the room, propped up against his dresser, gracefully reflecting the beam of moonlight. Only now did he realize he was still in the same apparel he was wearing that morning. He must’ve returned to the room half awake and instantly passed out. The boy swung his legs over the edge and got to his own feet. Still in sluggish mood, he stumbled a bit before affirming a stable stance. A yawn was about to fly from his lips, until his ears picked up faint footsteps proceeding through the hallway. ”Guess my suspicion was correct…” No way a child of the moon could remain cooped up inside of a guild hall. Perhaps Lyla and I should construct some sort of condo on the roof?” Jin sighed as he rummaged through his drawer and produced a spare blanket, then quietly paced his way down the stairs, trailing the girl set on sleeping outside. He caught the entrance door as it was about to close and cleared his throat, ”There’s a shed around the back of the complex, the roof is a bit beat up, so some moonlight should be able to get in. On the bright side, you’ll have some privacy.” He held out the blanket and stared up at the very orb proudly suspended in the sky, shining brightly, ”Looks pretty clear tonight, not a cloud in the sky.”

Asa had just made it to the door and was about to walk outside when she jumped a little, hearing someone clear their throat behind her, she took a deep breath, not wanting to freak out like she did earlier and ruin the home of the people who had welcomed her into their world. She turned around slowly and saw it was the boy who had invited her here in the first place. She looked at him with her wide, grey eyes, deep and mysterious, filled with untold secrets, little orbs that reflected the moon itself. She listened to him explain that there was a shed outside where she could see the moon but have a bit of shelter. She looked down at the blanket he offered her and stared at it for a moment, glancing up at him then back down to the blanket as she reached out with her small, pale hands to take it, looking down softly as she spoke for the first time, whispering in her soft, almost child-like voice. "Thank you..."

5 weeks later...

Jindal stepped into the guild hall closed in shadows as normal when it happened. He got a odd chill in his spine before the guild door was violently thrown open. He put both his hands up out of instinct and wondered where that idea had come from. He then looked at the door and saw a group of council enforcers standing there holding a paper. "Jindal the black dragon you're hereby under arrest for crimes against the council and the destruction of a building in this very town. The other charges are as follows:

48 counts of assassination.
77 counts of hiding evidence.
223 counts of using forbidden magic.
3 counts of murdering a council member.
1 count of joining a dark guild.
99 counts of theft.
221 counts of defacing public property.
800 counts of assault and battery.
3 counts of arson
And finally 2 counts of using the secret magic of death head cactus. Death head law a thousand executions."

Jindal stood up shocked and a large amount of gasps could be heard. He looked at them shocked then at everybody else before taking a deep breathe and sighing. "I don't remember any of that but I trust the council's judgement. I may or may not be guilty but I certainly won't add to the list of crimes." He said before turning to walk to them without putting up resistance. He was arrested quickly.

Jamboree looked stunned and almost tried to fight for Jindal but decided against it. "You guys are making a mistake! He's innocent." He stated before turning to go to his room on the second floor of the building.

Over the past few weeks Asa has opened up to the guild members bit by bit, she still rarely used her real voice. She had also come to rely upon Jindal. She'd grown very close to him and when the guards came in saying he had done all of this stuff, she knew they had to be wrong. She reached out and grabbed Jindal's sleeve as they were trying to take him away, looking up at him pleadingly.

"You get away from him girl. He's not someone we can let run around free." Asa looked at the man, hate in her eyes as she used her powers to write in shadows. "You let me run free..." The man's eyes widened and before he could say anything Asa dashed out the door, running down the streets. "I recognize those powers... GUARDS AFTER HER!"

For Hunter Briggs the past Five Weeks, since starting, have been relatively busy. Not taking much time to settling in, the first week he was amiss, away on a mission he took upon himself from the bulletin board. These were quite simple missions that didn't require a group of mages to undertake. The only reason it took Hunter a week to complete was because of traveling. This first mission he underwent was quite far from Cait Shelter on some distant part of Fiore. The first few days were arriving to a small village that seems to have had an minor nuisance of diminutive monsters causing mischief for the villagers. Hunter took care of the issue by scaring them away. He then returned with some Jewel.

The next following weeks was filled with more jobs, another on his own which again took a week to complete, most of it based on travel. Yet one job was completed with the help of two other mages from the guild. He was approached one day by Mimi Tronoux, she asked if he would join her and her normal partner, Xiros Farfetcher, on a particularly difficult job. It would have been difficult for Hunter to agree to such a team up. The reason he was taking jobs alone was to in fact protect himself. He could cut loose and use his Chaos Magic without fear of the repercussions if certain mages caught sight of his taboo technique. Yet, he has done the whole, lone wolf routine before and with mixed results. More time than naught, he was still caught and expelled. He supposes being alone all the time was too suspicious for most. So he at times, teamed up with guildmates in order to redirect suspicions off himself. Yet that too has met with mixed results.

Depending on the jobs and other, unforseen, consequences, Hunter has been forced to use his full power in order to survive. Despite accomplishing the Guild's goals, he revealed himself before members of the Guild. And of course expulsion has followed. He has traveled very far and across many lands in order to find a place where he has yet to be recognized. Fiore was a nice place, far out west, and here no one knows of him and his many expulsions. Still if he is to have success he must be smart and find pleasant balances between being alone and keeping up appearances. So, refusing Mimi would be too alarming he fears. Hunter agreed, despite him knowing that he would have the fight at half power. He used only his Holy Magic during the quest and therefor it took longer than it would have if he could use his darker powers. He could have used Darkness Magic instead, but, many Mages fear that dark art and think it purely evil. Holy Magic is seen much more favorably.

After he returned, it seemed Mimi and Xiros, who were quite uncertain of him at first, returned with praise for his help and skills. This in turned helped to place Hunter in a brighter light for the new recruit. Making his fellow Guildmates to feel not so uneasy about him. Except now, if he were to be asked to go on a mission he will have to confine himself to only Holy Magic. Its what they all will expect of him now. Frustrating indeed, but a necessary risk. After he returned from the previous mission he took the time to actually get some rest. Something he hasn't truly done for quite awhile now. It was on the day when madness seemed to have broken out in the guild that he was prepared to leave on a new job.

He was in the Guild Hall when the Enforcers entered the scene. "What!? How did they find me so quickly!? I never revealed my true power to anyone here!" Hunter thought to himself. "No! I can't leave, not now, I just arrived!" He began to panic. That was until the Enforcers asked for Jindal. "Jindal?" Hunter thought as he looked towards the boy in black. Despite his being there, he hadn't met with all of the Guild members, nor talked to them for any long period of time. The most interactions hes had with are with Mimi, Xiros, Jamboree, and Jin. The others were either too afraid to speak with him, or he simply avoided most interactions. He didn't know much about this Jindal, he was quite the mystery to him. Yet, everyone he did speak with, thought highly of the boy. Their picture of him surely did not match the one the Council was painting. Hunter couldn't help but think it hard to believe that Jindal was that dangerous.

He worried for Jamboree, he seemed brash enough to attack the Enforcers, but luckily he didn't. It would seem Jindal would go quietly, furthering everyone else's point and even rousing Hunter to feel outraged. It was then that Asa interfered with the situation making that much more worse. She revealed her abilities and they turned to chase after her. "NO! That foolish girl! Why would she reveal herself in such a way!? It was pointless!" He thought angrily to himself. He was wondering what should he do? If he were to interfere he would most surely reveal his powers too, and then he would be hauled off to the council as well! Curses! He felt so incapable, so helpless, as his guildmates were being arrested for no good reason! It was an outrage, but if he is to help them, then he must not get involved. He will do them no good if he was detained as well. He just hoped Asa would escape them. As for Jindal...well, he was beginning to wish they had a Guild Master for times like these.
