Introduction
NOTE 1: This is not my game. Our esteemed leader appears to have taken an LOA, and we simply continue on in his absence. Under The Belt, we await your return.
NOTE 2: This will be gritty. People will die, usually in rather gory ways. If you do something stupid, you will probably pay some consequences...or someone else might. That's the way of the Wasteland.

The great Northwest is a far cry from its glory days. After the bombs hit, many areas went through too drastic change in too short a time. Radiation is rampant and you can't trust your neighbors further than you can throw them. Everyone is out for themselves or their family. Super mutants and ghouls were once human and their genetic coding has caught the attention of one twisted scientist. She's gathering a team for...research purposes to further her studies in trying to cure Super Mutants and Ghoulism. You can only pray that's all she hopes to accomplish.
Locations: Basic map courtesy of Under the Belt. City maps courtesy of StrawberryFoxglove and Mr. Nice Guy. (We still need a couple to be made, if no one else grabs 'em, I'll make them this weekend.)
Carnation: Fertile farming community. In the west are two ranches whom are partners, the Simms and the Sinclairs. Between them is a dusty race track used to race stable livestock. Vegetables farms are in the east, an NCR post is in the south in town and a tree orchard is in the north. Rolling hills surround it, as does sparse forest.
Eis: Boasting a very low human population, Eis is a Super Mutant/Ghoul town primarily. Cozy Cabins lodging for visitors in the west, shops and businesses in the east, and a popular radio station in the north, broadcasted by Ghouls and (relatively) intelligent Super Mutants called "Creep Show". Named due to it being a winter wonderland of sorts, snow encasing the environment.
Erett: Known for its large bus station that goes all over Northwestern Washington, located in the center of the city. Slums are in the east and uptown is in the north. Businesses and a crumbling mall are in the west. The South End Ruins run rampant with red light district workers.
New Chelan: Formed in a dried up lake, surrounded by vast wastelands. Very small merchant company that uses a delivery service. Main attraction is the Lake Bowl Bar with entertainment and a gift shop for adults on the west side of town. An old carnival is in the south, homes are in the east and the postal service is in the north.
Port Townsend: A "family" oriented town. Mildly dangerous, as people sometimes go missing after a time. Picture perfect place with washed homes in the west and businesses in the north. Town hall is in the center of town and often stuffed with nonsense daily. South is a district forbidden to those not born within city limits. In the east is a slaughterhouse where animals are carved for famous Port Pork meats.
Olympic Park: Work in Progress
Sappho: A pacifist town, at least from the outside. Various huts surround a temple in the middle. To the east is a theater of the arts, a market dominates the north, an academy stands in the west and an arena in the south. Little is known about the citizens and culture of Sappho, though reports have been made Sappho hides a white human supremacist culture.
Seattle: It almost always rains in the city. It's the largest and wealthiest city for hundreds of miles, with the space needle in the west serving as a giant building for the Hiroshima Labs Corporation. Rich live in the north and poor in the south, east is Pike Place market with an astounding view of the harbor and a leveled collection of businesses of the largest variety.
Chain Coast: A Raider Camp. The Leader is the notorious Miss Demeanor, who is rebuilding the 3" gun on the1950 Destroyer, in an effort to hold Seattle and Hiroshima Corp. hostage. The ship and camp are surrounded by spiked chains, preventing approach by water.
Team: (As far as I know)
Mr. Nice Guy - Danaya Black
Soki - Lucas King
Sibrand - Marcus Shepherd
Nogond - Nogond Sword
StrawberryFoxglove - Josephine "Jo" LaRoche, Elena Torres
CortezHorse - Will
Cypher - Dante M.F. Adams
Maybies:
Fammikins
Basics
Apothecary: Medicines are found only at clinics or on traveling doctors who always have mercenaries to protect them. Most larger buildings have a first aid kit handy. Greatly needed with wild creatures and hostile factions lingering.
Armor: Light, medium and heavy armor can be obtained for a price. Light is better suited for frequent travelers, spies and raiders while medium armor is often found on military personnel. Heavy armor is often associated with raiders, the Legion and Great Khans and includes a metal suit. Power Armor extremely rare, and there is none currently for sale.
Communication: So far just radios and walkie-talkies. Radios can also be used to listen to music or distress signals.
Clothing: Most found is tattered and dirty from the unkempt environment overall. Feel free to stitch together whatever you need. Keep it circa 1950s.
Currency: Bottle caps are currency, but some factions have varied currency. The NCR, for example, uses paper bills and the Legion carries coins that their blacksmiths make.
Domestic animals: Canines, bighorn and brahmin are all the commonly domesticated beasts seen in possession by those with animal husbandry skills or enough fencing. Insects cannot be tamed but other various creatures may be with the right time and skill.
Drugs: Some medicines and plants have been converted into drugs. The term "chems" is a slang term for drugs. These typically alter the mind and/or body in some way, but carry varying risks of addiction.
Electronics: Robots, building intercoms, lighting, tracking devices, radio stations, radios, audio logs and some computers are working thus far. No cell phones or in-ground telephony has been reestablished after the nuclear war.
Food: Including alcohol, this is found scavenging the wild wasteland or can be purchased. Farmers often have crops but will protect them with everything they've got.
Housing/buildings: Many houses are boarded up and can be broken into with the proper muscle. Houses are usually run down with little electricity, but the plumbing sometimes works. Some choose the life of a nomad and simply camp under the starry, irradiated skies.
Transportation: Buses are the cheapest way to travel long distance. Only military personnel or rich folk will have their own vehicles, often heavily modified to survive the Wasteland, and those within it.

The ding of the elevator sounds loudly as everyone is waiting to see what happens next, and the camouflaged man steps out, alone, a grim look on his face. He catches the eye of the the guards and simply makes a shooing gesture with his hand. They almost all scowl at him, obviously not fans of the man, but they all disappear, leaving the large room empty, save for him, and the team.
His voice is modified through the gas mask's amplifier, so few even know what he looks or sounds like, but he clearly has some form of power in this place.
"Some things have changed. You're all going to head out immediately to the Chain Coast. You'll meet one Marcus Shepherd 3 miles due west of the Raider Camp. The bus will drop you off a few miles south of him, as that is as close as we get. We must maintain secrecy of your association with us for this mission."
With this, he sets a folder on the table. "Inside, you'll find details of Marcus Shepherd. He has details of the camp. The folder does not leave the bus. You move out in ten minutes." He snapped a finger and two guards brought in a small box with 20 MREs. "Enough food for each of you for three days. Plus a couple of extras for the big guy." He turned back towards the elevator, then paused. "Oh, Simms, Hunter, you're with me." He'd escort them to the elevator, and they'd disappear.

Jo shot a wink at King, their conversation having yet to be interrupted by others. "I tend to wander through open doors quite freely, so make sure you turn the lock if you ever change your mind. Though, I'm sure you won't." She grinned, chuckling at his secondary comment. "You know, I'm not quite sure, might be the sex -- I am smokin' hot -- but I'm tough as nails and can take anyone on in a brawl." She tugged at her leather glove and formed a fist with her hand, causing the accessory to make an audible sound under the pressure before she released it. "Hand to hand combat is kind of my specialty. Maybe we can have a friendly duel a little later on?" Her statement obviously carried many meanings, each being completely intended and completely serious. As she waited for Lucas' reply, she gobbled down some more of her food and watched a scene unfold before her. A man dressed in military gear approached Tobias and the two left after a moment of quiet conversation, rather one-sided conversation. She raised a brow, watching quite openly as the two disappeared into an elevator and failed to return on the next stop the machine made.
She would spend the next hour chatting with anyone that approached her and making innuendos whenever the chance appeared. When the elevator door's finally reopened, the man in the gas mask was the only one standing there. With a quick motion, he dismisses the majority of the individuals in the room -- in response, Jo settles her eyes on him resolutely. Men with power were attractive, though at this point in time, Jo would still prefer Tobias, considering she could see his face. This guy, though, well... he was mysterious, that gave him a couple points. So many people in this place, so many pairs of pants to remove. She sighed, having completely failed to hear what the man had said, turning her attention back on King as Hunter and the woman known as Simms were whisked away. "So... what's going on?"
Elena sat quite contentedly next to Will, munching happily away on the food she had fetched for herself. She figured she had bugged Will enough with questions, so she was just fine sitting in silence -- aside from that, it appeared that he had been looking for someone anyways, perhaps he knew someone on the bus already? The woman with the dog, maybe, that had been so friendly with him. Her gaze floated around the room, looking at the tables, the food, the guards, the other team members, though not focusing on anything in particular. Her gaze settled on a woman on the far end of the room for a moment, nose crinkling curiously at her angry and somewhat crude way of eating, before drifting off to Tobias and the masked man walking towards the elevator. 'Oh, look at that. An elevator.' Her thoughts kept her busy, though they may have made her appear strange -- she was sure that Will appreciated the quiet, however, after such a long time of talking.
After a few minutes, Elena began to hum. It was no tune in particular, but was melodic nonetheless. Watching the room had gotten boring, but she still didn't want to push Will for more conversation, especially considering that he seemed to be avoiding looking at her ever since the still in their conversation earlier when she had asked about his favorite color. At first she had thought that he might have been color blind and the question may have offended him, but when he answered finally, she was at a loss for what had caused him such pause; regardless, she thought it best to give him a rest -- he was obviously uncomfortable being social and it wouldn't be wise to push her newest friend away when that was so easily avoidable. The elevator doors dinged once more, drawing Elena's failing attention. Latching onto the new item to observe, Elena perked up in her seat and pushed her nearly empty plate an inch or two away from her. Tobias was no longer with the second man, but this man was not lacking in power. The guards were dismissed with little more than a look before the man began to speak. They were receiving their first mission, and with the amount of food that was being provided, it probably wasn't going to be easy or short. When the man dismissed them, her attention was turned on the two he summoned to follow him up the elevator, one of which was the woman with the dog that had been so friendly with Will. She raised an eyebrow, speaking to the man beside her for the first time it what must have been at least an hour -- "Is that your friend?"

Swallowing the last bite of his food he began to notice her becoming antsy, did she have to talk constantly to entertain herself? Well, he supposed not everyone was content to just stare at nothing like he was, some people actually needed stimulation. Taking a deep breath to boost his confidence for another round of chatting with her, he was interrupted when a masked man came in the door and his eyes instantly trained on him. Tracking his movements, Will watched as he dismissed the guards then announced where their group would be heading before leaving and taking Karen and another man with him. Will frowned at this and made a move to follow before seeming to think better and sit back down. Fidgeting nervously now he watched where Karen had disappeared to and wondered where the stranger had taken her and what he had planned for her. His eyes weren’t on her so anything could happen to her. What if the man couldn’t be trusted? Would she meet them back at the Chain Coast before the mission? Did he have other plans for her? His train of thought was broken as Elena asked a question and he jerked his head towards her. “Karen, yes, my friend.” Turning his head back to the elevator, he watched for a few more moments before turning back to Elena. “Where do you think he took her?” He watched her with a worried look in his eye before sighing and looking towards the folders the man had left. “Hrm.” He grunted, trying to think of other things than his missing friend. “Wonder what we’re going to do at the raider camp.”

When he finally spoke up about a change in plans, an already knowing frown was on his face. "Figures.." He mumbled to himself, and watched as Hunter and Karen seemed to vanish off on their own, he'd miss Hunter if only for the nights relaxation after a long fight. He turned to look at Jo when she asked what was going on, which could only cause him to smile. "We're moving out, that's what's going on, looks like we're going to be killing raiders too this might be interesting wish Hunter would have been coming. He turned his attention to the folders, grabbing one and looking through it., before he put it back on the pile and looked to the small box. "Huh, well this might be more interesting then I first expected.." He said out-loud, though it wasn't to anyone particular he just felt like voicing his thoughts on the matter.

She was busy stuffing a few more into her pack when the man in the mask moved into the room, his stride shouting his purpose and importance. She wondered for a second if she'd crossed some line, and the hand within her pack wrapped around the cold steel of her weathered, but maintained SMG. He strode past her as if she didn't exist, and the tension in her muscles visibly relaxed. Still, she turned to watch him, curious about the mask and helmet he wore, and in admiration of how sure he moved. He was a dangerous man, to be sure, if he was a man at all, and yet he didn't flaunt the power he wielded. It escaped from him, oozed out of the cracks in his armor and the vents on his mask, like a viscous creature with its own agenda. She chewed her lip as he disappeared into the steel cube that lifted him and Tobias away, then glanced at the other members of the new recruits, more likely the cannon fodder, and wondered if she should say something to at least one of them.
She hesitated, so unused to the company of others, until she finally locked her eyes on Karen. Sure, the woman might have been a bit loose with the flashing of her ticket, but the bus had been unmolested, and all had turned out alright. Perhaps paranoia was more to blame, and the woman was not so naive as Danaya had previously thought. She let her pack drop, the one strap on her shoulder leaving it to dangle half at her side and half behind. She tugged on her bangs, took a deep breath, then began striding towards Karen, intent on apologizing, when a ding rang through the lobby. All eyes turned to the masked person as the polished doors slid open, and Karen was pulled away with him when he left. The small girl rubbed her hands over the shaved part of her head, her jaw clenched in frustration. She snatched a folder from the table and moved away quickly, before she could be surrounded, pressing her back to a cold stone wall and marking everyone's position before she quickly read the dossier on one Marcus Shepherd. Great, she thought. Another man. At least the raider had been taken away.

Josephine nodded in understanding as Lucas explained exactly what was going to be happening -- she was by no means slow or stupid, she just got... stuck in her own head, sometimes. "Well, then, looks like we'll be getting some action." She grinned, pushing herself up from the table as Lucas did and slowly trailed him to the box of MREs and the dossier on Marcus Shepard. Her hands were raised over her head, cradling the back of it as she walked, looking rather leisurely for the urgency that the masked man had indicated. Her nose crinkled as she peered into the box, eyebrow raising. She'd seen dried food before, sure, but military rations were a different story. Jo clicked her tongue dryly as she picked up one from the box and inspected it, even sniffed it -- though the packaging really prevented her from actually getting a decent handle on the things inside. Finally shrugging, she picked up two more and stuffed them under her arm before retrieving a folder and opening it. 'Marcus Shepard, hmm?... Not bad.' Her grin spread wider as she slowly edged towards the main door. Ten minutes was such a long time to wait.
Elena watched as Will motioned to stand and then returned to his original position, visibly tensed and eyes trailing his friend as she disappeared into the elevator. When Will posed his question, Elena shrugged. "I can't tell you for certain, but I can tell you that she probably isn't in any danger. It would seem ridiculous to hire someone and not use them. Perhaps she has skills more valuable at her disposal than running into a camp full of raiders." Elena sniffled, head tilting to the side. "Only ever one thing that people seem to be interested in when it comes to a camp full of raiders." She shrugged and pushed herself onto her feet, smiling at Will. "Come on, then, Will -- let's find out who this Marcus Shepard is." She dodged her way to the table, ensuring that she didn't bump anyone and retrieved her rations, piling them away in her satchel immediately, before pulling Will's out as well and holding them until he made his way to the table. A folder was propped open in one of her hands, eyes drifting over the words on the page, storing each detail for future use. When Will would approach, she would extend a folder to him as well while explaining that she had grabbed his rations for him, indicating those tucked between her arm and the front of her body. As soon as he would accept the folder, she would extend the rations to him as well, breaking from her reading to offer him a smile.

These thoughts occupied him, along with the copious amounts of meat and potatoes and assorted high-sugar-content juice concentrates in front of him (why did Dante drink the syrupy concentrates and not "Just Add Water!" as the packaging advised? Nobody knows), kept him distracted almost all the way through the briefing; and by the time he was done the man giving the briefing had just left the room after mentioning a few extra rations for "the big guy" (Dante assumed this meant him). Dante set aside the ruins of what had once been food (even the marrow-bones had been broken open, their contents absconded with) and moved over to the rest of the group.
He picked one of the MRE bags from the package, but the strange characters on the front were foreign to him. Dante had never been taught to read; it was fairly obvious at this point (A/N: Dante's build was INT 3 at this time. ~C), so he looked helplessly at the one person he'd managed to connect with on the bus ride over - Jo. "Uh... Can you read this for Dante Mo'fuggin' Adams? Dante Mo'fuggin' Adams can't read." He looked guilty of something, like a five-year-old who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

The rain hadn't stopped yet, though it was down to a low drizzle. Morning had passed, and the early afternoon was only marginally brighter than it had been a few hours ago; the thick clouds above hardly cared where the sun was, it wasn't getting through. The bus driver glances at his watch and stares towards the door impatiently. The low rumble of the engine dropped briefly, the constant cyclic shifting of the large engine not uncommon, and the whoosh-squeal of the brakes, bleeding the build up of air, sounded briefly.

During her process of edging towards the main doors, her name was called -- her head swiveling to find the source, her eyes settling on Dante who had leveled her with, what had to be, the most pathetic look a man his size could muster. She blinked up at him, taking a second to fully understand what was transpiring. The look on his face wasn't an "I can't read" face, it was an "I just sat on your dog and crushed it" face -- it took Jo just a moment to realize that not being able to read could be just as mortifying. Blinking once more, Josephine nodded and pulled an MRE out of her own pack while making her way over to Dante. She extended the lightweight meal out in front of her, ensuring that Dante could follow along on her pack and on his own if he felt it needed. "So, it's called a 'Meal Ready to Eat' and it's got food inside. They're in these little packages, right?" As she speaks, Jo opens the first of her few MREs and pulls out a couple of the bags inside, indicating the packages she had just spoken of. "There's this heater thing here, it uses chemicals to heat the food in the bag -- see, it says here that you can't use it in enclosed spaces because it releases hydrogen gases, which is dangerous to breathe in, or something. You have to put water into the heater, right up to this line here, and then you put the package of food in it and close it up. It says here it takes 10 to 12 minutes to cook, then you pull it out -- it'll be hot, though, so be careful -- and eat it." She shrugs before continuing. "Oh, each of the bags has something different in it. Like you have your main course, then you gotta snack, and then you have a drink." Returning the original few packages, she pulls out the last few contents. "Then they give you some gum and some crackers and some condiments, like ketchup and hot sauce. Oh, yeah, and there's the spoon for eating." She grins, returning everything to the original packaging, before rounding on Dante and scratching the back of her neck. "Did that make sense at all? I'm not too good at explaining things, I guess. I can answer questions, if you got any?"
Jo would signal for Dante to follow her towards the front doors, sticking close to his hulking figure in case he did have questions or if she had to explain it all again. She knew she wasn't very good at explanations -- she normally just... did and worried about how or why later. She would stand with Dante until they climbed onto the bus and she would follow him back, taking the seat across the aisle from him. It almost always paid to be friends with the big guy, so Jo wasn't passing up the chance. Besides, Dante had his own charm -- even if that charm included collapsing the walls of bus stations. She would be sure to leave room for Lucas next to her, assuming he didn't mind taking the window seat. Jo had a thing about windows...
Elena would trudge to the bus stop with a mix of emotions, partial excitement mixed with some terror, anticipation, and dislike. It would have been nice to sit and relax for a little bit longer, maybe talk to Will about his friend and enjoy some more food. The idea food brought forth the idea of MREs, inwardly cringing. She may have never had an MRE, but the Meals Rarely Edible had a reputation that she didn't necessarily feel like testing. Now, Elena was no prude, she didn't demand the finest foods, but that didn't mean she was happy with eating... whatever. Crinkling her nose before sealing her face, Elena would follow the group out to the impatient bus, rocking back and forth on the wheels from released and reapplied breaks. Sticking to Will, she would follow him to a seat and sit happily next to him. A grin spreading over her features, she would allow Will a moment to breathe before she began to speak. "So, do you have any questions for me? Or should I keep asking you questions?"

Bad news everyone...this site is now blocked at work, which is where I did most of my awesome. xD
I'm still here, but I won't be able to post as often...but I suppose if I need to make maps and the like, I can still do that. Perhaps more epic-ly.
