Rahael Nox

a character in “Fantasim Land”, originally authored by Gladis, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Image
Rahael has rather short, somewhat curly, blonde hair which and grayish eyes with red pupils. His skin his deathly pale. Rahael is rather tall and has a good body built, being muscular, although not overly, and yet slender. He has a handsome smile, although he can make it look somewhat wicked and twisted if he wants to. Rahael's ears are slightly pointy, although they weren't like that before he was turned into a vampire. He has a set of sharp, vampiric teeth, which although he usually hides them well, can make him look rather intimidating. He is usually found wearing clothes of a nobleman. He has one earing, a golden cross, and he also wears a small golden crucifix around his neck which he received of his mother right before she passed. She also gave him a black and ribbon which he ties to his wrists at times, especially as a reminded to that he has to remember that he must fight... He also has a pair of angelic wings which come and go a little as they please, often causing him great agony.

Personality

Rahael can seem rather dark and mysterious, sometimes even cold but that doesn't mean he is all bad. The thing is, Rahael probably walks somewhere in between good and evil. He is constantly fighting his inner demons, trying to get off the dark path but somehow always ending back up on it. Or rather, his angelic side is fighting his vampiric nature. His past has had its toll not just on his body, but his mind as well. Although he is usually fully calm and composed, taking most things easy and wanting to help people, he sometimes suddenly can lose it and get upset about the smallest thing, even dangerously so. Then, after some moments of having exploded in rage he suddenly returns to his calm and reasonable state. Ah, when he's thirsty he can be exceptionally grouchy and grumpy and that doesn't have anything to do with his mental instability. Whenever around Sepiroth he changes attitude slightly as well, becoming cold and closed, even somewhat passive aggressive.

History

Rahael was raised by his mother and father until he was five. Shortly after his mother died of a fatal illness she had Rahael was kidnapped and enslaved by a man named Sepiroth. Those eight years he spent as slave were literally Hell for him. Those years were also what started to change him, although he was still a good lad afterwards and it took many years before it started to show. When he was thirteen he somehow managed to escape from his master. He found and reunited with his father, which started to heal him slightly, at least mentally. Shortly after he met his father his angelic wings broke out from his back for the first time as well, revealing what he was.

As time passed the relationship between Rahael and Rapheal, his father, become more and more strained. The final drop was when Rahael betrayed him, although he doesn't see it like he did and claims he had a good reason for why he did what he did. However, part of him does regret what happened... Not long after what happened Rahael was terribly tricked by a vampire who originally aimed to drain him, but somehow Rahael managed to survive although he was turned into a vampire. That was the first time he had ever loved a woman and according to him will be the last time, although I doubt it. Sometime he'll get over his slight paranoia about getting betrayed.

Ashamed of what had happened, not just that he'd been tricked and terribly both physically and psychically hurt by a woman, but also the complications with his father, he decided to start traveling for a while, just to make things clear to himself and maybe learn something new on the way as well. That is how he ended up in Fantasim Land. He still has problems with his wings, although he has started getting used to the pain and does hardly even react when they rip open his scarred back anymore.

So begins...

Glad for the dark clouds Rahael walked strode along the road, his red eyes fixed on the ribbon around his wrist. His lips switched slightly as he tried to make out what exactly was going on in his mind. He paused and frowned when he realized he had somehow ended up at the castle of Fantasim Land. For a moment great pain quivered through his back and he felt his wing twitch slightly inside it, ready to break out at any moment. He cringed ever so slightly in pain but other than that ignored it. He was used to his wings tormenting him constantly by then. Thoughtfully he entered, tilting his head and glancing around the throne room. There was a beautiful woman sitting on the throne, talking to- Rahael froze, his eyes narrowing and his hand automatically moving to the hilt of his sword. Sepiroth...

For a moment Rahael's expression instantly darkened and he couldn't help but feel a very slight shiver leap down his spine when he saw that cold smile he knew so well. He locked his hand around the crucifix which was hanging around his neck, tilting his head slightly to the side, feeling one of his wings make another twitching motion. It was almost not even hurting, but rather tickling. "Sepiroth, I didn't thought I'd find you here," he said slowly, coldly, with his French accent after a long moment of silence, "greetings," I added, my voice warming very slightly and a slight smile twitching on my lips.

Cassandra watched the young man who walked in curiously. He began to speak to Sepiroth, and it seemed they knew one another. She smiled a bit, to herself, and she decided to head to her room and let the two talk. She made sure to let her arm gently, affectionately brush Sepiroth's as she walked past him, and as she slipped out the door, she shot one last, longing glance towards him.

She slipped out of the throne room and spread her wings, beginning to fly down the hall in the direction of the grand staircase. She whizzed through the air, right up the stairs and down the hall. She stopped and landed soundlessly on her bare feet when she had reached her bedroom door, and there was a grin on her face. She had a date with Sepiroth.

She pushed open the large, heavy door of her room and walked in. She all but danced over to the window, drawing the curtains shut so that none could look in on her as she dressed. She then went to her closet and began to search through the gowns. Surely there had to be something, something that was beautiful, something that was radiant. A gown to make Sepiroth fall fast and hard and deeply in love with her.

Rahael narrowed his eyes for a moment, tilting his head to the side and then shook his head. He paused an sighed, nodding slightly after all. "I don't fear you, but cringing in your presence has become a habit of mine," he said in a rather plain voice, blinking at the hint of sadness when he spoke. When he spoke of his father something strange flashed through Rahael's eyes; sadness and regret. "I know," he said softly, his expression turning bitter, "it is my fault, I believe..." Rahael's voice died down slightly in the end of the sentence. He cleared his throat as he noticed his gaze had dropped from meeting Sepiroth's to the floor. He looked back up, "I don't think I can return to him after what I did..." Rahael hesitated before asking, "what would you do if you and Ben got into a really bad fight? One that resolved in the two of you harming each other... although I believe Benjamin would never even concider harming you in any way..." shame crossed his face as he spoke of his friend. He seems to be so much better than me...

Rahael listened to Sepiroth's words silently, a thoughtful look entering his expression. "I don't know why you did what you did, Sepiroth... it doesn't make any sense to me at all and it never has, yet I cannot bring myself to hate you fully..." he paused and sighed softly, "It wasn't father's fault, though... and I wounded him badly, so I have no choice but to blame myself..." Why would have thought I would be standing here, taking to the man who enslaved me about my problems, and even feeling I could trust him, although he had ben cause to so much hell in my life? He thought to himself as he spoke. At his last question he lowered his head, his shoulders drooping slightly, "To be honest, I don't know... I left him quite a while ago, some weeks, I believe... and it makes me ashamed of myself. I should not have... but it was not because of our problems I left," Rahael's expression suddenly turned bitter as he thought back at the betrayal, "I needed time to heal a broken heart, I needed to get away from home for a while..." he paused and subconsciously ran his fingers over the bite mark on his neck. His right wing twitched once more, making him cringe ever so slightly.

Rahael paused and sighed, nodding his head slightly, "It is bad," he looked down at his feet for a moment, some of his golden hair falling into his eyes. As he was used to doing often, he brushed it out of the way and looked up at Sepiroth again, listening to the part about Elanor, his dead wife he probably still in a way was obsessed with... Rahael's lips twitched into a bitter smile as he nodded his head slightly, "I believe you are right... I shall not make the same mistakes as my father, I have to find him," a look of determination settled in Rahael's expression as he spoke those words and it was obvious he meant them. He paused at Sepiroth's question, "I don't know, we just began fighting a lot at some point... I guess it had to do that I was a teenager and in puberty... somewhat, and maybe our personalities didn't always work so well together... and then there was, ah... you know father," Rahael fell silent for a moment, "I am still not quite sure of what really happened, just that it did..."

Rahael watched him walk away, "Thank you, Sepiroth," he said softly before the silvery haired vanished from his view. He sighed softly to himself, running his pale hand through his golden hair and glancing around the throne room one last time before he started out from the room, resting his hand on his sword hilt and with the other one he held the bag which was thrown over his shoulder. There was everything he had needed while traveling, including his violin. If it was something he never let go of it was his violin. It was one of his most important belongings... besides the ribbon and golden crucifix. He wanted to find his father, but he had no idea where to start searching.

Rahael continued walking, making sure to keep out of direct sun contact. He shut his eyes as he did so, relaying on only his other instincts and senses for a while. After some time of walking he suddenly stopped, glancing around. Gently he tugged the ribbon which was bound around his wrist, looking thoughtful. "Father, where are you?" the young looking man mumbled to himself before he continued, still gently tugging the ribbon lightly as he walked. Thousands of thoughts were flitting through his head, but none of them told him where he could find his father.

Rahael sighed to himself, frowning as he suddenly felt a red rain drop on his nose, then another on his head, and another on his arm. I great, rain... he thought to himself, first looking annoyed. Then his expression softened and a small, sad smile spread over his lips. "Heaven has to cry sometimes too," he muttered, suddenly feeling in a much better mood. He glanced around and then sniffed, hoping to catch the scent of his father, but there was nothing. The rain increased, making it harder for him to smell anything at all, as it cleaned the air and wiped the scents away. The sun was almost down as well, which only was a relief. Rahael was a lot weaker during daytime, like most vampires.

After a while of walking he stopped, his clothes drenched in rain by then. They were heavy and uncomfortable, and the rain was so as well, but he refused to search for somewhere to stay and wait for it to go away and just sit there in some warm inn, where it would be warm and nice, when his father may be dying somewhere. He gritted his teeth and continued, tilting his head as he spotted the silhouette of a figure sitting in the distance...

Rahael squinted his eyes and blinked. Whoever had been there wasn't any longer. Having no other choice Rahael started walking in that direction, feeling colder than he usually did, being a vampire. He soon found himself at the entrance of the inn. Thoughtfully he gazed at it, wondering weather he should enter after all or not. He frowned slightly, maybe he should go in there after all, just for a short while, just to warm himself. Nodding slightly he opened the door and stepped inside, letting out a small sigh of relief as he felt welcoming warmth.

Rahael walked over to one of the empty table and sat down, his clothes leaving a slight wet trail behind him. He sat down and glanced around the inn, thoughtfully. Suddenly he paused, his eyes widening slightly as his gaze wandered over the man with pale skin and blonde hair, just like him. He couldn't see his face, but Rahael was almost a hundred percent sure about who it was. A waiter was just on his way towards Rahael when he stood up. Rahael glanced at him and shook his head slightly, cracking a weak and slight smile. In response the waiter nodded and attended to another table. Rahael turned his attention back to the man at the table and with determined strides walked over to the table, pulling out a chair and sitting down opposite of him.

"What a weather..." I said, releasing a heavy sigh. My voice had changed slightly since I was turned, it had become softer, more melodic. Possibly my appearance changed slightly as well, but not that much.

Rahael suddenly felt guilt for leaving his father wash over him. When he saw Rapheal like this right then... he felt so guilty, so irresponsible and so much like an idiot. He wished he had never left, he wished he would have stayed and let his father help him through his hard times, just like he'd done with his wings back when he was a child. Sadness entered his expression and he stayed silent as he listened to his father speak. However ragged and destroyed he seemed and looked, he was defiantly Rahael's father, he was sure of that.

A slight, sad smile twitched on his lips and he sighed softly. "I see," Rahael said in a soft voice, shutting my eyes for a moment and sighed softly, "I have lost someone important to me as well, someone I now wish I would never have left..." He could could feel the wing twitch inside his back again.

Rahael sighed softly and shook his head slightly. "I am sure it wasn't all your fault, old boy... If he left you, without even trying to solve the problem," he trailed off and shook his head, sighing sadly, "I'm sure you did nothing wrong," Rahael added, gently tugging at the ribbon and feeling more guilt wash over him. It is my fault, oh God, it is my fault. I didn't know you were sent there again... how I wish I had never left, how I wish I had stayed and tried to solve our problem... and my own. And I was never happy without you father, I thought about you all the time, guilt nagging the back of my head constantly. He wanted to tell his father all that, Rahael really wanted to... but he would have to wait. "Your son seems to have made a similiar mistake as me... I am sure he misses you and wants to find you, old boy..." He said. Although his voice had changed somewhat he did still have his slight, French accent...

Those words about the woman was like a slap in young Rahael's face. He sighed bitterly and shook his head slightly. "Your son should not have cast you aside for a woman, they only break your heart and betray you in the end anyways," I paused and sighed, "I should have listened to my own father when he warned me to be careful," he said, continuing to tug the ribbon. Rahael chocked at his fathers last words, his eyes widening in shock and he accidentally slammed his fist against the table. "Oh for heavens sake, you did what?!" Rahael exclaimed, totally forgetting about the act when he said that. Maybe he had raised his voice a little too much, because people were giving them strange looks...

Rahael sighed, running his fingers through his hair. He tried to keep calm when he said that last thing, "I know you better than you think... but sometimes I wonder..." He paused, not quite managing to keep his hand from shaking slightly. "You shouldn't have made a deal with the man named after the devil... your son is alright, I promise... he's fine, not happy, for he knows all this is his fault, be he will live... the woman... she broke his heart, betrayed him and turned him into a vampire, although she originally intended to kill him..." Rahael paused and shook his head, slapping his forehead. "I'm so sorry, father... I should have listened to you, I shouldn't just have left..." He said weakly, "I was a foolish, messed up kid, blinded by love..." Rahael paused, keeping back tears, "Look at me, Rapheal... look at me father."

Rahael grimaced, shaking his head and watching him sadly, "No, it is my fault... you wouldn't look like this today, hadn't I left, you wouldn't have been as weak and dying... it is my fault, and no matter what you say... it won't change," Rahael averted his gaze from his fathers, looking down in shame, "I'm sorry..." I said quietly, shutting my eyes. I sighed softly to myself. I looked back up at him, noticing his voice going fainter, "father, there must be a way fro us to fix this..."

Rahael sighed sadly as he watched his father. He carefully ran his fingers through his golden, slightly curly, hair and grimaced again. "Father, I'm too afraid of falling in love with another 'harpy' to even try..." He paused and frowned, shaking his head slightly and biting my lip hard enough to draw blood, "how can I be sure she is not just going to betray me like she did..." his voice grew slightly fainter, sorrow and pain flicking across his face, "Besides, I don't want you to go..."

Rahael paused as he listened to his fathers words, tilting his head to the side, "She is a nice girl," he agreed softly, smiling weakly. He wasn't a hundred percent sure he could love her more than a friend, though... but then again, who knows? Although, she wasn't in Fantasim Land what Rahael knew so that was pretty much out of question. He had decided he would stay here for a while. Rahael sighed sadly at his fathers second words, looking down, "I know," he said sadly, "but I still don't wish to loose you, like we did mother... when you are gone, there is only me left, alone..."

Rahael blinked and looked up at his father, tilting his head to the side and frowning slightly. "I... have an uncle?" He asked slowly, tugging at the ribbon around his wrist and looking thoughtful, "I didn't know I did..." he said softly, looking back up at his father, "Well, I did know I had one on my mothers side but... he is far away from here."

Rahael stood up and offered his father his arm. "What about I hire an inn room for the two of us; I would believe I still have money for that..." the 'harpy' stole everything Rahael had when she left him there to die, but he'd managed to earn some new gold coins. However, he wasn't proud of how he'd earned it. None of these thoughts showed on his face as he spoke to his father. "Then you can rest..."

Rahael blushed at his words and looked away, "Some woman can be quite scary at times..." he muttered before starting to lead him towards to the reception of the inn. "But I'll pay anyways," he said softly, before turning his attention to the innkeeper. He cleared his throat to get his attention as well. The innkeeper turned around to face him, smiling slightly. "Anything I can help you with, sir?" he asked and Rahael nodded his head, putting some of his golden coins on the table, "a room for two." he said. The innkeeper glanced at the money, picked it up, turned around, took down a key from its hook and then handed it to Rahael, "there you go," he said with a smile. Rahael returned a slight smile, although it was less than halfhearted and accepted the key, "thank you," he said without particular emotions and then turned around, starting to lead his father towards the staircase.

(>.< I think I know what's coming...)

Rahael smiled very slightly as he helped his father up the stairs and then through the corridor. It was rather dark, floor and walls out of wood. There was only one window at the end of the corridor, and since it was dark outside, it didn't give much light at all. Rahael glanced at the different doors and numbers as he walked, waiting for the right door. When he reached it he stopped, unlocking it and pushing it open. It made a slight creak as he did so. Rahael glanced inside. There was one window, but like the other one it didn't give any light. The room was therefor all dark. He led his father fully in, then excited the room and moments later returned with a candle. It wasn't too fancy but not too bad either... in other words, Rahael had seen worse under his travels and as his time as a slave. Now with some light he noticed there were two beds which faced one another. Between them there were two small tables and then there was a dresser... and that was it. Rahael took fathers arm and led him to one of the beds, gently helping him sit down.
