*Personality:

Kaleb is one who always tries to follow his heart and does what he thinks is right when he can. He used to stand up more for what he believed in years past, being the guy at school who would protect the geeks from the bullies and ensure that no one he knew was being treated unfairly and without respect. However, now that he has worked as a detective for several years, he has found that his ability to stand up for his beliefs has diminished. He used to be able to brute force his sense of justice into people’s heads, but as a detective, other factors don’t allow him to do that anymore. It’s caused Kaleb to become a little disgruntled and jaded about society, viewing it as a dirty, corrupt, broken system that needs a major overhaul if it is to work again.

Outside of work, though he mostly keeps to himself, Kaleb is a nice guy. He won’t be seen going out of his way to say hi to people, but he’ll stop to help people if he sees them in trouble, more often than not. He’s definitely the sort to stick out his neck for you if he’s truly loyal to you, too. Because of his jaded view, however, his trust isn’t doled out as a free handout. It must be earned. Additionally, his rough and tumble personality is still evident, making him seem a bit rough around the edges.

*Motivation: He wants the Grail to rid the world of injustice and oppression, and to fix how horrible and corrupt the world currently is (especially government officials), so that no wrong doings can occur to those who do not deserve it, and those who cannot protect themselves can be protected.

Kaleb’s main magical ability consists of Pyrokinetics. In his case, this consists of Kaleb channeling the element of fire using his mind and discharging it from his body. Since his fighting style is mainly that of a physical brawler, the pyrokinetics are used to enhance his fighting ability, letting him do a severe amount of damage through his punches, kicks, and grabs.

*Equipment:
- Mana Absorber and Projectile Launcher – Kaleb knows his ability to defend against projectiles is less than stellar, and since he believes he’ll be encountering other magic users on his trip, he has invented this. In order to combat long range magic users, he created a machine that can absorb weak to normal ranged magic attacks directed at him and channel it into a mechanized launcher, allowing him to shoot a concentrated energy beam back at his opponent. However, Kaleb must activate the shield beforehand in order to absorb the blast, and the converter to the launcher is not 100%, making the return fire weaker in comparison. Additionally, the brute force of a heavy projectile attack will go right through the shield, leaving Kaleb vulnerable to it. Its main use is to deter opponents from ranged combat, forcing them into close quarters. Though, if the need arises, Kaleb can attempt to channel his own magical fire energy into the gun.

Kaleb was born into a family not known at all for having any magic abilities whatsoever, so when the 12 year old got into a fight after school, his family was surprised when he ‘accidentally’ inflicted several severe burns on his opponent. Unfortunately, he injured the son of a politician in town, forcing the entire family to up and move to avoid any further damages to their reputation. The move placed a huge strain on the family, seeing as they needed to cover up the incident and make sure that their son remained unknown as a magic user. However, the family remained supportive of their son, so long as he made sure to keep them under wraps unless it was absolutely necessary. They might not have understood his powers or why he had them, but they made sure to be caring towards him, and that he never displayed his ability in public.

The truth was, Kaleb knew about his abilities as early as the age of 7, and had practiced honing them in private until that fight. Since then, he’s continued to practice, making absolutely certain that his magical abilities were always in check, even when he did get in the occasional brawl. He could not afford to lose control of his abilities any longer, lest he place even more strain on the family he cared so deeply about.

During his stint at school, Kaleb began to develop a hobby for mechanics. When he wasn’t working on homework or training his magic, he tinkered with all sorts of weird devices, dabbling with a wide range of equipment and tools of all sorts. In addition, he also developed a strong sense of justice, always the guy to defend the helpless nerd when a bully shoved him in a locker, or the snitch who would rat out those cheating on a test. This led to him getting into a lot of fights at first, until his reputation as a rough and tumble brawler were well known around the school. After that, people rarely messed with him. Following high school, his sense of justice led him to join the police academy. Eventually he passed through there and became a detective in order to ensure he showed his strong sense of justice to the world.

As the years as a detective rolled on, Kaleb’s sense of justice became a bit tainted. He saw so much unfairness and prejudice, and quickly he became quite sick of just how disgusting the world could be. Increasingly, he found himself wanting to punish criminal offenders more and more violently. Fortunately, he was never in a position to administer such brutal discipline, but when catching those criminals, he was usually a bit rougher than be should have been. Additionally, he saw many of his colleagues bribed by government officials, so that they might stand above the law and commit unspeakable acts of delinquency, which infuriated him to no end.

Currently, Kaleb still works as a disgruntled detective, fiddling with his little mechanical inventions as a hobby on the side. One day at his office, he received a strange letter in the mail, informing him of the events soon to be occurring in Ciel-Etoile. Figuring this would be the perfect time to show the world his idea of righteousness and integrity, he took a leave of absence and set out to find this town and set things right.

*Starting Location: Taxi, heading towards the French Countryside town of Ciel-Etoile.
