Description

Opal
17
Straight, black hair with bangs that fall just above his long lashes. His eyes are a light, grey blue. Tall and skinny, but a solid, strong build hidden beneath his layered clothes.
Has the ability to create certain weather patterns near him, as well as control plants.
He tends to walk alone, be completely involved in himself and no one else. He has a tendency to skip his homework but has lots of experience with his powers. He doesn't wish to go home, rather, he'd want to be anywhere but home, but school isn't his first choice either.

So begins...

There was a shrill screech as a large hyacinth macaw flapped it's way into the lounge. It landed on the fireplace mantle and looked at Opal. The shrieked again, and again, and again, like any macaw.... the noise it made was simply... ear-piercing. If someone wasn't already crazy they sure would be after hearing such a noise. After a moment of sitting there it made a noise that sounded like hello, but it was hard for most people with untrained ears to decipher.

"Mr. Finklehopper!" A voice called from down the hall. Kestrel came through the door to the lounge and gazed around a moment before spotting the bird. He shook his head and walked over to it, then held his arm up for it to step on, "Step up," he told the bird, and it did. Mr.Finklehpper gently touched Kestrel's arm with his beak as he climbed onto the boy's forearm.

Kestrel looked at Opal, "My apologies... he likes to roam throughout the mansions sometimes..."

Opal cursed when a screeching bird came flying about the room and held up his arm in defense. "What the hell?"

He saw its owner come walking inside, calling out a goofy-sounding name. Finally it was taken under control and Opal could hear again. He adjusted himself so he leaned up against the window sill, his legs dangling off the edge. He crossed his arms, not exactly interested in the boy but too tempted to not at least reply. "You should keep more of an eye on him then. Not many people like to hear awful noises like that." He sighed, crossed his arms and closed his eyes. "And really, Finklehopper?"

Opal did a little chuckle to himself.

Mr. Finklehopper flew off of Kestrel's arm and landed on the back of one of the chairs. He then bowed his head up and down at Naomi.

"He likes you..." Kestrel informed the girl. he then looked over at Opal, "I was three when I got him... thus the child-like name... and he likes to hop around on the floor."

Kestrel was not all that impressed with Opal's attitude. he didn't like rude people, and well, Opal was certainly not making a good first impression. Though Kestrel highly doubted that he really cared all that much.

Great, just when he thought he could be alone he found himself in the middle of some Beauty-and-the-Beast fairy tale, with a girl letting birds peck out of her hand. He cocked his head a bit to her question, imitating her tilt. He had wondered what powers she held, given her petite figure and ever-so-fragile appearance.

"Why do you care?" he responded. Arms and legs crossed, he disentangled himself and got up to stretch, the position making him stiff. He rubbed the back of his neck and cracked his knuckles, then shook his bangs so they hovered over his eyes. "But if you must know, I go by the name of Opal." As he found the conversation between the lovely couple to be unbearably boring, Opal preoccupied himself by staring down at the bid and flashing it a "give-me-a-break" expression. Finally, when the two were done talking about their pets, Opal glanced up at the male student.

"Since when did this become a petting zoo?"

Opal raised a brow at Naomi, not giving her much credit for her shape-shifting. He had seen a few transformations here already--not nearly as fast or uncontrolled as her's--but still, he seemed, or appeared at least, not to care. He gave the boy whom Opal found to be a bit pretentious a little wave with his fingers and a sarcastic smile.

He gave Naomi another disapproving look. "You, my friend, are much too positive." He looked about the room, and, feeling a chill coming on, rubbed his hands together. After a few seconds, a small flame came on and he gently blew the fire onto the unlit logs resting in the fireplace. Slowly the room had shadows coming from the beautiful glow. With certain seasons he could alter few elements--only fire and ice for now--and was able to alter the simple temperature of the room by creating small fires. It was a hidden talent within his power, a little "advantage" that he found out about one day in class. He smirked, remembering how he head nearly caught one of the girls on fire, and chuckled.

He was carrying no books with him, no pencils, no nothing. Just the way he liked it. He considered roaming the halls, but then again, he didn't feel the urge to do much of anything. A piano caught his eye and he took a few strides towards it, brushing some of its dust off. He eased into the chair and played a few, singular notes, then slowly began to connect them into a song he had learned years ago.

Naomi was amazed by his power, but hearing his comment from her being too positive, she didn't say a word. She walked over to the fire and got on her knees, trying to warm herself up. She then heard the piano starting to play. She looked back to see Opal toying with the piano. She stood up and walked over to the other side of the piano and stood there quietly, closing her eyes as the beautiful melody filled her ears. After he finished, she slowly opened her eyes and smiled warmly. "You play beautifully... do you know anymore?"

Opal raised his head and saw Naomi standing there, a little too close for his taste but knew he wasn't going to escape from her too-nice, too-positive personality. He might as well just go along with it, he had nothing else to do.

"Why, not really. I have a few that I've written, but this was from a long time ago.." Opal ran his hands down all the keys, as if to finish his position there. He spotted someone new through the window--quite angsty looking, listening to some blaring music Opal could barely hear from inside--and gave him a small squint. A strange feeling came over him, like he didn't trust the kid, but shrugged it off.

Naomi smiled a little "Looks like even you have a peaceful side, eh? Music can do that, I guess." Naomi looked up over to the window and didn't see anything, the person must of passed on... or so it may of appeared. She reached her hand over to the piano and played a few notes "I wish I could be able to write songs... poetry is one thing, but to put words into a tune... I admire that."

kestrel decided to slip out of the room. it's not like either of them would notice anyway. He had seen the boy outside and figured he should probably go and greet him. Maybe he would like to be friends with kestrel, or so he hoped... though Zeron didn't exactly look like the kind of person that Kestrel would hang out with... not that Kestrel had ever really hung out with anyone besides his sister anyway.

So with that, he was out the door!

Once outside he walked over quietly, unsure of what to say. He stood in front of Zeron and scratched his head, then decided to just say hello. Kestrel held his hand down to Zeron, 'Er, hello, my name is Kestrel Featherwood... welcome to Featherwood halls..."

Mr. Finklehopper squawked a shrill "hello!"

Opal gave her an eyebrow raise and took a step aside. She was getting a tad too close for his taste. He brushed his fingers through his hair, obviously not very comfortable around girls--or anyone, really--but mumbled anyway. "Peaceful, yes. A place where no one can interrupt you.." He slipped out from behind the piano and swiveled on his heel, looking around the room.

"Aren't you supposed to be studying, or something?" he asked, then took a step by the fire and warmed his hands. He wondered why it was so cold here. It's not like there was anyone who couldn't make the place warmer. He could bet a hundred bucks the king of this school could tack on some sort of energy sphere of heat. Ah, well. It must be a "life experience" they were trying to teach here--if they really taught anything anyway.

Naomi took a seat in the chair and started to play a small tune, it was short of course with her lack of skills. "Nope, I got all my studying done... I was writing a few poems, but then that bird let out that sound. But I'm glad it did because I got to meet you. Of course, that doesn't mean we're friends or anything, but it's nice to get to know people when you're not very familiar with surroundings." She stood up and sighed a little as she looked over at Opal. "If you really want me to leave then I'll go, just say the words and I'll be gone in a snap!" She snapped her fingers for effect.

Before Opal could tell her straight off to leave or stay, she heard a call from the hallway, asking if anyone was here. She stood up from the piano. "Hold that thought... I'll be right back." She walked out into the hallway where a young boy stood a few feet away. Naomi waved when the boy turned her way. "Welcome!" she said in a voice as kindly as she could. "But you might want to keep your voice down, people are trying to sleep." She motioned Tails to follow her. "Don't be in the open like this, you don't want to be caught." She said warmly as she started her way back to where Opal was warming himself.

"Great," Opal said aloud when he heard a newcomer. Was where he stood the center for the school to meet, or was he always simply in the wrong place at the wrong time? He responded to Naomi by simply saying nothing and kept to himself. He thought he had heard a teacher of some sort scolding someone through the echoing halls--now that would be a fun place to observe something interesting. Indeed, once he warmed himself, he exited the lounge area just as Naomi and the newcomer were coming through.

"It was a pleasure meeting you, Madame, but I just can't bare to be here any longer..." He used a tone much too sophisticated for him, and, finding that quite funny, tipped an invisible hat goodbye and begun roaming through the halls for no reason in particular but to explore.

"Not really, but I'll ask you if I do." I say with smile. "Thanks for the help," I say as I go to ask the principle about my dorm. I reach the office, and knock on the door. Getting no response, I sit on one of the chairs in front of the office. After an hour of waiting, I drift off to sleep.

Tails woke up surprised. He was about six feet above the ground. Cursing under his breath he landed back on the ground. "I need to get that under control." Tails thought to himself. He checked his watch, it was about seven in the morning. He decided to knock on the office door again.

Talon Featherwood opened the door and welcomed Tails. "Welcome you must be Tails. I'm Talon Featherwood." He says.
"Yes sir, nice to meet you. I was wandering about my schedule and dorm." Tails says.
"Of course." he says as he looks through the dormitory list. "Ah yes, you'll be in a dorm with Naomi Koizumi." He hands Tails a key and asks, "Would you like me to show you to your dorm."
"Yes sir," Tails says still trying to make a good impression. They walk to his new dorm.

Opal found nothing at all quite interesting down the halls--despite a few good looking girls who gave him strange looks in response to his eyebrow raises. They all appeared to be heading to class, and of course Opal had nothing with him to prepare, but decided to head to class anyway. He wasn't the most orderly of students, but he knew the consequences here were far worse than any public school he went to, and besides, he had nothing else to do.

Opal snapped his fingers and a small branch appeared, floating in the air. He picked off the apple attached to it and snapped his fingers again, the branch disappearing. He spotted Naomi and that puppy-dog like creature following her about. He raised a brow and chuckled to himself. Taking a bit out of the apple, he sauntered over to the classroom and opened the door into the classroom, giving Namoi a little salute with his middle and index finger.

Opal took a seat in one of the chairs and propped up his feet on the desk, taking another bite out of the apple. He didn't look about, he didn't prepare in anyway, he just waited around for a teacher, for the class to start. He didn't wonder much, but when he did he often got trailed off on a tangent of sorts. He looked out the window and saw the clouds coming on. He looked to see if anyone was watching and gave his wrist a little flick of his wrist. The clouds began to part, only the clouds closest to him, and a bit of sun shined through the windows.

Naomi was the only one who actually saw him flick his wrist. She then looked back out the window to see a part of a blue sky with a sun shining above. She glanced at Opal, then back at the window, then she looked at Opal once again, trying to understand what just happened. It finally clicked and her eyes widened slightly in awe. She looked a lot more comfortable and happy now that there was a little color in the sky. She wondered if she did it for her or not, but she concluded that he didn't because with how distant he was, he wouldn't do that for anyone but himself.

Opal took notice of the teacher--really took notice of her. He took a break from his apple and looked her up in down, whistling just before he took out another bite. As much as he dreaded class, having a good-looking teacher to tell him what to do was a perk he didn't expect. And of all classes for her to teach, biology was the perfect subject to reach levels of understanding beyond the textbook and into some real contact with living creatures. Opal's lips, accentuated by the sugary sweetness of the apple and reddened by the bloodflow, shot the teacher a little smirk.

After one last bite that was clearly audible compared to the silent concentration of the other students, Opal threw the core into the air and snapped its fingers for it to vanish.

The door opened slowly as Kojo stepped into the classroom, still in his hyena form. He stretched low, his tail sticking up in the air, and let out a heavy yawn. He had been up all night and was still not used to the new schedule of sleeping at night and being up all day. With a groan he straightened and trotted over to one of the desks.

He studied Oren as he walked by, a small smirk on his face.

Once at a desk, there was a POOF and he turned back into his human self, shirtless of course, and plopped down into the seat. Kojo tipped his chair back on it's back two legs and crossed his arms across his bare chest.

Naomi looked up slightly and watched the hyena take his seat. She looked confused. After he transformed, she blushed hard seeing he had no shirt on. It wasn't an "he's attractive" blush, but just in utter shock. She turned her head back to her notes and nodded no slowly. She then looked over at Opal and saw him checking out the teacher. Her eye twitched a little as she imagined Opal going out with someone gradually older than him, and with that, doesn't age whatsoever. "Men do the weirdest things these days..." She then propped her head on her arm and continued to take notes with her free hand.

The information was of course more overwhelming than Opal had thought, but nothing he couldn't pay attention to. He simply didn't write anything down or look at her in the eye. His mind got caught off guard watching the way she spoke, her lips going up and down non-stop, her beautiful hair gently moving with her expression. He didn't think much of the shirtless man--only that it was quite amusing when he received some punishment.

The man's apparently fit physique did leave Opal uneasy, however. He was quite lanky, and while he himself was quite toned and fit underneath, he would never be comfortable enough to strut like the hyena-boy. Whether it was because he didn't want to appear cocky or because was insecure, he didn't quite know.

The additional work didn't mean much to Opal--he wasn't going to do it on time anyway, though the content was quite interesting. He stood up fro his chair and stretched, cracking his neck side to side. "Well then I think class is almost over, no? And if you were about to say 'defenses aimed specifically toward repelling the beautiful creatures in the world' such as yourself, well, I'm sorry to say there are none." Opal sent her a wink and rubbed the poor boy's head--the boy who looked absolutely helpless--before checking out the door.

Peaking through the window on the door, Opal chuckled to see the shirtless man yet again, strutting his abs. Opal created a little snowball in his hands, slipped into the gym and tossed it at his bare skin just when the teacher wasn't looking. He gave a little chuckle then cleared his throat. He had just entered the gym--clearly, he didn't want to follow the crowd from before, and instead explored the halls. He appeared leaning against the door, waddling his fingers. "Uh, Monsieur, that would be me. Unfortunately I do not have clothing to change into. But if you'd like me to join bare-skinned over there, I'd be happy to start stripping down."

Opal gave Naomi a little wink, and while he didn't admit it, he was happy to see a familiar--and kind--face in his class, however awfully positive she might be.
