Opal smirked to himself and placed himself on the window's seat, looking out at the campus. It was only his first week here and was already feeling quite comfortable, but that was Opal in a nutshell. He could place himself anywhere and be "quite comfortable." As long as he had a place to sleep and eat, he was set. He had nothing to lose when he left home--only a failed attempt at a relationship with his over-bearing father--so a little freedom didn't hurt. Still, he didn't choose to do much anyway, and felt rather fond with this place, despite some of its pretentiousness.
"Mr. Finklehopper!" A voice called from down the hall. Kestrel came through the door to the lounge and gazed around a moment before spotting the bird. He shook his head and walked over to it, then held his arm up for it to step on, "Step up," he told the bird, and it did. Mr.Finklehpper gently touched Kestrel's arm with his beak as he climbed onto the boy's forearm.
Kestrel looked at Opal, "My apologies... he likes to roam throughout the mansions sometimes..."
