Alric walked into camp with Mook and Fallon, after the fight with the snake. "Well that was intersting, Alric chuckled to the others as he glanced around the camp. He had a strange feeling that he was being watched but brushed it aside. It was probablly just some adrenelline from the fight.

Hayden looked up from across the camp to see others return and noticed Fallon, his twin sister. Getting up he walked across the camp. He wore his new armor and his katana was sheathed at his hip. He walked over to stand next to his sister giving her a nod but not saying anything.

Returning home, Mook immediately engaged in his important enterprise. Finding the Master's tent, he entered the structure. He saluted; once at ease, he moved pieces around on the map-table. "You may leave," gave the reply.

His mission thus concluded, Mook sought out his recent saviours. Being as he was familiar with shadow magic -- the most lonesome of pursuits -- it was against his nature to look for camaraderie. The urge even surprised him.

Fallon shook out her hands after helping Mook free from the monster, following right at Alric's heels. Just as she reached the edge of camp with the rest of her allies, her senses instantly picked up her brother's presence. The energies around her were intensified by those she knew well, especially by her twin, whom she shared a more immediate connection with. She felt his distance through the ground and the roots. It was effortless to know where he was for most of the time.

Now, he had closed their distance and positioned himself beside her. Fallon saw his nod and leaned in a bit to whisper. "I think this place needs to lighten up a bit." Releasing a little chuckle, Fallon scanned the camp. At this time of day it was fairly quiet, but the calmness was always interrupted by the ominous feel in the air, hinting at a dreary future. Just then, Fallon caught a small vibration through the ground. As if a reflex, Fallon grabbed her brother's arm. Her voice was still at a whisper when she said, "Do you feel that?" Of course he wouldn't, at least not in the way she could. But his earthy abilities may have caught some scent or feeling or essence of the thing she picked up herself. Fallon craned her neck to look over her shoulder, towards the woods where she could feel the hint of a being nearby.

Alric walked across the camp away from the others and walked across the camp looking around. He noticed Kotomi with her horse and approached her.

"That's a nice steed, What's it's name if I might inquire?" He asked and then before she could answer spoke quickly. "Oh and I'm Alric by the way."
----------------

Hayden nodded to his sister and smiled when she talked about brightening the place up. Then he felt her hand on his arm. He hadn't felt anything but suddenly he jumped as Jorikin landed. "Now I felt something." He said and looked down to see a cat next to them. He raised an eyebrow and chuckled just a tad for having let a cat startle him.

Kotomi

Image

Kotomi sighed and started to dig through her messenger bag strapped to the horse's hip. She only used it for storing water or feed for her horse, not what it was made for. As she did so, Abacus started to stomp his foot on the ground, scrapping off clumps of grass. "Enough... you're going to get us both into trouble!" She whispered sharply and sternly to her horse as she pulled out a bag of oats. Kotomi poured a majority of the grains into her hand and held it up to her horse's lips. As her horse ate from the palm of her hand, she stroked his neck in a calming matter. "There, now stop fussing..."

Suddenly, Kotomi's little conversation with her pet was interrupted by a masculine voice maybe a foot or two behind her. She glanced over her shoulder at a tall, well built man, maybe late 20's or early 30's. As he complimented her horse, she gave him a nod. Kotomi opened her mouth to answer his question, but was quickly cut off by his quick introduction. She rolled her eyes and scuffled. "... His name is Abacus." She mumbled as she turned herself around to face the man now known to her as Alric. Kotomi didn't bother to introduce herself, he never asked. Although you should introduce yourself after an someone else's introduction, she didn't know that. Then again, she was never really taught proper etiquette.

Fallon released a relieved breath at the small creature, laughing a bit at her brother's response. "If you're afraid of a /cat/ I'm going to have to save your butt a million times out there..." "There" meaning the battlegrounds, if there even was one...everywhere a fight could break out. It was better to be over-prepared than not prepared enough. It did allow for some humor, though. Fallon raised a brow at the cat and crouched beside it, stroking it softly and patting her knee for the creature to hop up into her arms. It wasn't often Fallon got to interact with animals--her powers usually scared them away.

"Sweet thing..I thought cats were too sassy to like humans." Fallon chuckled before stroking its back and glancing up at her brother.

Sassy? Jikorin thought, Is that what you think of us? Jumping up into the woman's grasp, she squirmed in her arms. Looking at the other man, she stuck her tongue out at him, perhaps to tease him for his surprise when being aware of her presence. Sure, Jikorin was a big baby, but who was there to criticize her? Jikorin simply did as she liked, with no real regard for meaningless things like honor or passion. Cats made little regard to each other, and really, Jikorin thought of herself above most other cats. After all, she was more than just a cat. As for other Youkai, well, she'd very rarely met other Youkai, and Youkai cared minimally about one another, or at least under normal circumstances. After all, one would have to be selfish to want to find a way to live a long life.

Of course, achieving a long life, at least how Jikorin managed it, was more of a discipline. She needed to benefit off the dead, and people didn't just die whenever they felt like it, and even if they did, Jikorin wouldn't be feeding very often. Plus, Jikorin rarely had enough luck to be at the time and place of a person's death to collect a fresh soul. Also, as she aged, the more her magical energy intake increased, meaning she needed to feed more and more often. The aftermath of a battle would surely tie her over for at least a couple decades, centuries at the most.

Rin looked into the human's eyes with pity. She wondered exactly what would be the result of the feud. If the magic-using humans won, they'd exterminate all paranormal creatures, and she doubted they'd make much distinction between a good or bad Youkai. Jikorin would have to be able to put on a good disguise as the overall magical prowess increased in humans. Jikorin could tell it certainly already has increased for the last five hundred years of her life. While if the Paranormals won, what would become of the kingdom? Jikorin didn't know exactly what would happen. No doubt the Paranormal races are going to fight among themselves, as the difference between each other was of little more less difference than theirs with humans. Youkai would likely be on the bottom of the pedestal, just as they always have been, and Jikorin doubted that the Fox could come up with anything clever enough to change that, no matter how clever the Fox was, and Jikorin wouldn't have humans looking after her. It seemed pretty lose-lose for her in the long run, as she thought about it, but then she figured that if the Paranormals won, she could always move to another kingdom.

Hayden chuckled at his sisters comment. "We are both going to need to be careful out there sis. But I think if we combine our abilities and stick together we might be a force to reckon with." He added with a smirk. He looked down at the cat again and could have sworn it stuck it's tongue out at him. He rubbed his eyes slightly and glared down at the cat. "I don't think she likes me." He muttered.

Fallon blinked as the creature moved about her arms, causing her to chuckle once more. "Mm, you're quite the affectionate one." Her eyes met her brother's when he spoke his wise words, and she nodded. Then, as she stood back up, taking the small, furry creature with her, she shot him a knowing look. "I mean come on, it's /us/.." she said, smirking a little. Fallon wasn't usually so laid back, or social, really; but she could always let her guard down around her brother. They were basically joined at the hip. While there had been times where she wish she could just rip him to pieces, being twins allowed for her to always have someone understand her, even when she /wasn't/ herself.

"Aw, now, who couldn't like this sweet little cutie pie?" Fallon used her other hand to pinch Hayden's cheek, jostling his head about before ruffling his hair. Oh, how amusing it was to annoy her brother..

Fallon tilted her head down to the cat, not seeing any sort of collar with a name, so assumed it'd been lost or a stray. "Where did you come from, anyway?" That's when something hit her--cats, or any stray animals for that matter, didn't roam these grounds. There was nothing for them here, only the necessary resources to get humans and a few of the warhorses through the day. "I mean, for all we know I could be stroking a shape-shifter..." Fallon gave a Hayden a pensive, alert look, her arms keeping still about the cat.

Jikorin punished herself in her mind for trusting a plant mage. Somehow, Jikorin found, that she received a negative reaction from plant magic, perhaps because of her Youkai nature. She was tense for only a second, but then reassured herself. There's no way anyone one suspect a cat, she thought. After all, what kind of spy would allow themselves to be an enemy's captive willingly, as she was right then? Jikorin figured most of the humans had thought that she belonged to somebody, as more skilled magicians tended to have animal familiars, whom of which, depending on the animal, was more in tune with magic than humans were. Animals like cats and owls had great eyesight and could see the invisible workings of magic, while dogs were loyal and toads had great memory. She could have also gone with the claim that she simply tagged along after being fed, like any stray looking for food. Jikorin did catch them on the way there. Not to mention, the only creatures with the ability to shapeshift were Werewolves (whom were obviously limited to two forms) and Youkai like herself. Jikorin wasn't the best shapeshifter, but had on one or two occasions in her long life transformed into a human disguise for self-beneficial purposes, a rare occasion out of Jikorin's pride of being a cat. Plus, she had a difficulty getting the complicated swirly design of the human ear just right.

So, Jikorin concluded, the human must have been joking about fairy tails. Still, nothing was wrong with putting on a convincing act, although something was wrong with acting like a cat, when one already was a cat. Also, she was getting slightly bored of this human. Jikorin stared off into the distance, not unlike cats do, looking for something else to do. She could have entered the Warlord's tent, where she had been intending to go earlier.

So Jikorin, like any cat, supposedly with no regard for what the humans had talked about, jumped out of the woman's arms and sprinted toward the tent. Just as she was about to peer in, a woman had walked out, and Jikorin had to step out of the way. The woman saw her and gave her a funny look, a smile, a grin, something of that nature, before moving on with whatever she was going to do. Jikorin, had only watched the woman as she walked away for a second, before going back to peer inside the tent.

Hayden chuckled and then watched as the cat scurried away. "That was a bit coincidental." He stated. He glanced around the camp before turning back to his sister. "So while you were away I managed to get a new toy." Hayden said pointing to the shiny new Katana hilt sticking out by his hip.

"Hey!" Fallon watched the cat run off, not exactly sure why it had bothered to come by in the first place, and suddenly grew suspicious. A nod to her brother indicated her agreement, but before she could move on to something else he stopped her with a gesture to his new, thin yet sharply crafted weapon.

Fallon reached out to touch it, asking, "Did you make it yourself, or..did you find it? And where?" Her gaze glistened over the sun's reflection on the hilt and she blinked her gaze away. "We can test how strong it really is, if you want." She raised a brow, silently sharing a knowing look. Fallon couldn't remember the last time they had shared a playful battle between brother and sister--it must have been years ago--where they tested their skills against one another. Of course, though they had different capabilities, it always seemed to end in a draw.

She lifted a hand to absorb the energy around her when she heard noises coming from one of the many tents on the camp; in fact, it was the tent the cat had leaped and ran off to. What was is that she heard? Talking? Bantering? Her playful expression returned to one of concern as she quietly asked her brother if he'd heard what she had.

Alaric listened to Ronwair quietly and nodded. "Nothing to report sir, but I do have a suggestion. I know it's not my place but would you be willing to hear me out?" Alaric asked the warlord. He wasn't sure if his idea was going to be taken but he knew this was something the humans couldn't pass up.

Hayden showed off the sword to his sister. "No I didn't make it. I got it from the blacksmith." He said with a smile. "I guess we could test it--" He was about to say when he noticed something in the ground something was walking irregularly, maybe it was that cat, but he could tell his sister sensed something else. "What is it?" He asked.
