Matthew Thorin's Story

Cassie tried to wait patiently for Skylark to escort her home. 'I'm going to get in so much trouble. It'll probably be another lecture.' Cassie thought as she looked at the sky. 'I could have been half way home by now if Skylark didn't care.' Cassie leaned on her bike and looked at him. 'Why would he care for some random person?' "Well, my house is just down the road." Was he offering another random person to stay at his home? "Stay as long as you would like."

Matt paced around the bakery as he watched the sun go down. "Where's Cassie!? She should have been home at least by now! I hope she didn't get attacked, or kidnapped!" He sat down at the same table Cassie was earlier today. "Maybe she's staying at a hotel, or someone let them into their home for the night." He laid his head down on the cold, wooded table. "I should probably put the close sign on the door." Matt got up and flip the sign from open to close. He looked outside the door to see if Cassie was riding back, but she wasn't.

Skylark scratched his chin while he thought about what the half ogre had said. Protection in exchange for board and food? It was a great deal. Heck, Sky would be stupid to say no! Even the most stubborn of people would be a fool to not agree. "Hell yeah, sounds awesome!"

A wide grin came to his face as he looked at Cassie, "Ready to go? Can't keep your brother up too late, now can we?" With that, the white-haired human began off down the road. "So, where are the two of you originally from anyway? South? North? City? Town? Im from an old city in the East! I came here on a ship many years ago."

"We're originally from right here. We grew up on a small farm in the south east part of the country. Then when my parents decided to open up a bakery we moved to the city. It's not really inside the city, just about five minutes out." Cassie looked at Skylark. "What city would 'an old city in the East' be?" She wondered why he cared so much, but it was small talk to pass the time.

It was only five minutes that had passed, but Matt was starting to panic even more. He tried to keep all the possible scenarios that his sister might have gotten into out of his mind, but they kept flowing. "Maybe I shouldn't worry so much. Cassie is just as mature as I am, and I'm sure she safe from any monsters." He paced back and forth through the bakery.

Cassie continues to stare at the bush. There's something about it that makes her uneasy. "What the hell!?" Sky's scream made the girl jump and take her eyes of the bush. "We really need to get going." Cassie says eagerly. "It's getting darker. The later it is the creepier the monster. No offence to anything, Amos." She tells the half-ogre before scanning the surrounding area.



Matt went back to the window and looked for any sign of his sister. "Gosh, danish! It's getting really really late! I hope she's alright! Ohhh!!" He paced back and forth through out the building. "Don't worry, Matt. She's probably in good hands, being taken care of by some nice old lady." Matt stopped and thought for a moment. "Who hopefully isn't a harpy."

Rye Shade was waiting for Matt to say something or do something, maybe shriek like a girl and jump into the air. She didn't know what he was doing but she was getting impatient. She glared at him, "Are you gonna say something about what I just said? Or are you going to stand there like a fool all night?" Rye snorted and walked over to the counter. "Say what delicacy do you have here to sell at the moment."

Matt looked at the not harpy in fear and gratitude. He had been deep in thought about Cassie. 'Thank God, she's Ok. Shes not hurt, she didn't get kidnapped, and she didn't get attack by anything too hostile. The not harpy scared him back to reality. "Oh! Yes. I am Matthew. Thank you, kind lady for bringing me news of my sister. The bakery has actually been closed for 2hours now, but I could whip up anything you'd like. Today's special was an orange chocolate muffin. I could probably find some extras in the back room if you would like any." Matt smiled at the girl.

"OH! When we get to the bakery, I'll be happy to make you some dinner!" Cassie and Matt didn't get guest that often. "We're almost there. I can just barely see it." She squinted and tried to focus on the bakery in the darkness. "I know it's a bakery, but that doesn't mean we live on pastries and bread." Cassie added.



Matt looked at the not harpy. "Well, if you don't want me to call you lady, then may I have a name?" He went behind the display case and got a few cupcakes. "Of course we have cupcakes, I was just offering you our special. We have cheesecake, chocolate muose (Yes moose... don't ask...), green tea, french vanilla bean and berry cupcakes. Would you like to try one, or some?" He held out the cupcake palette towards her.
