Cavan is a tender old soul in a young body. He has an affinity toward fashions and behaviorisms from before his time, and it shows though his style and manner. He takes pride in his appearance, and will walk with quite a confident swagger. He is a firm believer in sentiment and purpose, which may cause him to over-analyze something that has a simple meaning. Cavan is a fan of the arts, from painting to dancing and anything in-between. He envies those who have a natural talent, and admires those who have worked to hone their skill. He himself is a decent photographer, and can often be found in odd areas and odd positions, his camera equipped and pointed at the ready. Needless to say, the way to his heart is though his photographs. Being a perfectionist, Cavan spends a lot of time seeing something through. He can get awfully disappointed if he doesn't have time to do a thorough job, and even more so if he takes the time and it doesn't turn out well. Above all, Cavan is an impulsive character who acts on his emotions, usually causing trouble for him and any people nearby.

For a long time after his "birth" Cavan couldn't keep a family. The initial couple who he was given to opted out of the adoption after a week of unprepared parenthood. Afterward he was put up for adoption again, but due to the lack of information his files held, no family was willing. Eventually the decision was made that he be put in foster care. Luckily, most of the homes he had visited were kind. He developed an understanding of the foster system early in the game, and taught himself to love and let go, or hate and forget. His grades varied from average to below for most subjects, save for art, which he excelled in.
When he turned fifteen, his older foster brother at the time bought him a camera, which Cavan has been practicing with since. That specific foster family was splendid, and he was able to live with them until he became an adult. Of course they offered him the option of staying, but he politely declined and thanked them for taking him in. Their son Felix, who had given the camera to Cavan three years earlier, had already moved out and was attending university a few towns away. The boy thought it a good idea to start his adult life with at least one familiar friend, so he took a bus and headed for Felix.
His debut in the city was less than glamorous. He spent his first week wandering around asking for directions, and watching time tick by in various twenty-four-hour coffee shops when he had become too frustrated to continue. He had a fair bit of money saved, but not enough to buy his own apartment, so he was pleased when he found a roommate ad for a three-bedroom flat. Some time passed and Cavan was unable to locate Felix, and he was already settled into his new life, so he put a hold on the search. After a short conversation and an interview, Cavan was able to land a part-time job at one of the coffee shops he often visited. Between groceries, transportation, and rent, Cavan spent what he had on photography lessons and new equipment. Years had gone by in an instant, and Cavan went from amateur photographer and part-time barista to coffee shop manager and local-renowned artist.
Just recently, Cavan came home to a letter addressed to him, which was uncommon to say the least. Inside was an invitation to coffee on Sunday from one of Felix's close friends.
