Walking over to Edge he tried to comfort him with, "Don't worry, they won't do anything to Besaid. They were just looking for a summoner, but I don't think they saw you." Not everything he said was true but they were more to comfort than to be true, he didn't know what they'd do to Besaid he could only hope they wouldn't blow it up or kill everyone.

"I hope so..." he whispered.
The night fell thickly over the ocean, and it wasn't long before Edge was staring to feel fairly exhausted. He paced the ship, however, unable to settle down and force himself to go to sleep. His mind was plagued with worries of the worst sort. Worries about death and destruction, worries about the end of the line. The sort of worries that one couldn't just brush off and get a good night's sleep.
Edge had just decided that it was time to go lie down, at the very least, when something caused the deck of the ship to vibrate so hard that he toppled straight off his feet, landing on his back.
(Sorry for the skip, but this time I have something planned~ >.< )

No one liked the Al Bhed, anyway. They were good at fixing mechanical things and always had rare items on sale, but it was all due to their obsession with their devil machines. They were the reason that Sin kept coming back, and it was their fault that good people had to die fighting Sin - Summoners like Edge, and Crusaders like Hizashi's father. If the Al Bhed had just given up their infernal devices and respected the teachings of Yevon, maybe the Eternal Calm would have come by now.
When they first boarded the ship, Hizashi was ready for a fight, but the Al Bhed stopped and struck up a conversation with Cyrille, who replied in their ugly language. So she is an Al Bhed after all, Hizashi thought, a sick feeling in his stomach as he remembered how he had touched her. I should have let her drown. As the conversation went on, though, it became clear that Cyrille was not actually an Al Bhed, but someone who had spent quite a bit of time with them. She translated the Al Bhed speech for the benefit of the other passengers.
When the word 'machina' was mentioned, Hizashi spat. It was a risky move in front of the Al Bhed, but he wanted to send them the message that they couldn't just do whatever they liked and expect people to turn a blind eye. At one point in the conversation, the Al Bhed took an interest in Edge, and the word 'summoner' cropped up. Hizashi stepped protectively in front of Edge and folded his arms, glaring at the Al Bhed, his pulse racing. They would take Edge over Hizashi's dead body.
Cyrille spoke to them, though, and they seemed to lose interest and left.
We survived, thought Hizashi. Maybe Yevon is watching over us. But he still felt as though something bad was going to happen.
Night deepened, and the dancing ocean around them was mirrored above by a sea of brilliant stars.
Something struck the ship with enough force to make it tremble.
Hizashi dashed out of his cabin and ran in search of Edge.

“I dunno. They were talking about a lot of things I didn’t know about.” She replied quietly, inflecting on her own thoughts about the matter. “I didn’t know the Al Bhed strayed this far south; I definitely wasn’t expecting to brush up on my Al Bhed down here.”
“Sorry bout that. I got off track for a moment.” With a dismissive wave Cyrille immediately switched topics. “They were just saying about some red glyph being caused by a machina or something. Whatever it was, they seemed to be in a rush to check it out.” The red haired girl shrugged and held her hands out, palms up.
It was then that the Captain suddenly saw fit for the ship to get going again and, almost instantly, the boat was once again rocking to and fro with power. Cyrille took her chance to quickly cling onto the mast of the ship, finding it to be much more secure than the railings.
A pained looking Cyrille just clung pathetically to the mast.
“I’m gonna be sick…”
Night fall came restlessly to Cyrille; she was constantly on and off the edge of throwing up and was only fine through sheer willpower and fear of embarrassing herself as if her performance wasn’t already pathetic as it was. It was just as she was coming down from one of her spells when the boat suddenly rocked heavily to one side as if it were hit. Her motor sickness was quickly overcome as fear took over and forced Cyrille quickly upon her feet.

Remi wandered the ship and observed as the other memebers on board indulged in their nightly activites. Despite the threat of Sin they all managed to be pretty happy at the moment. If they failed their mission those smiling faces would all dissapear, a heavy burden they carried. Remi pulled her cap over her eyes painfully as the thought of her parents suddenly came to mind, feeling water welling up and ready to spill over.
Her depressive thoughts were disrupted when a sudden force struck the boat. Remi steadied herself from the shock "I guess that wasn't the end of the surprises..." She didn't know where Edge had went off to; being Edge's guardian meant it was her job to make sure he was safe, so she set out to go find him on board the ship.

Slowly, he came to his feet. The crewmen were shouting and running around. Alarms were going off all over the boat. Edge swallowed and started to search for his Guardians, but it was too late.
"It's Sin!" the captain shouted from the helm. Before Edge could manage a soft swear, Sin hit the ship again, rocking it onto its side and drowning it in an arching wave. Edge shouted as, swept off his feet by the wave, he toppled into the sea.

It wasn't until the rocking of the boat that his hunch had come to full fruition. Troy stumbled to the edge of the boat to check in the water, nothing was there that he could see. Soon the whole boat became one mass of alertness, and the two words that Troy never wanted to hear again filled the air, "It's Sin!" Instinctively Troy started to look for Edge and only did in vain as a wave washed the boat, knocking him off his feet and barely catching himself on the rail. Being an old man, even with his finesse, he became disoriented and unable to stand up just staring into the water.

Sin. All that could be seen of it was a huge, curving shape, vaster than Besaid Island, rearing up into the sky, a colossal shadow blocking the stars. From its moonlit form, dark shapes came swarming through the air and raining down across the deck. One of them landed close to Hizashi with a loud thump, before unfolding into something leathery and alive.
"Sinspawn!" he shouted, but judging by the screams and yells of the other people on the deck, they were already painfully aware. Hizashi didn't have time for this. He ran on, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw the Sinspawn lunge after him. He darted aside, drew his sword in one fluid motion and smacked the fiend as far away from him as he could. He didn't have time to kill it; he hoped the other guardians on board would protect the passengers.
At last he saw Edge and was running towards him when the unthinkable happened: the summoner lost his footing and was washed into the sea.
"No!" he shouted. For one shameful moment, Hizashi was paralysed with fear. He stood staring at the place where Edge had disappeared into the waves, knowing he had to do something, but terrified of being in the ocean with Sin. At last he ran towards the rails. He knew he was going to die, but he had to go in there after Edge.
Hizashi plunged into the water and began to swim as fast as he could. It was dark, and Sin was so huge, he couldn't tell where it ended and where the ocean began. Where are you, Edge? he thought desperately. If Sin doesn't kill us, the Sinspawn will...

So why was he choking on the water that surrounded him?
He heard the rumble of Sin's presence through the water, felt the power within him respond, but he could not bring on the strength to summon. Valefor could not help him here. In the distance, he saw Hizashi's shape plunge from the ship and into the sea, but Edge could not call out to him. The water was frigid, and the deep resonance of Sin cut through him like a knife, weakening him. He fell limp in the water, and the current sucked him in like a ragdoll, dragging him closer and closer towards that armored body. Slowly, Edge began to lose consciousness.

Screaming pounded against his ear drums, he couldn't see anybody. Blurs passed by him every now and again not stopping to help him. Alive but hanging on by a few strings Troy just watched, for the first time in his life he watched as a fight went on. Where's my old self, I can remember when this was just a stroll on the beach. Who cared if I got beat up? Not me. I lived for those times and now look at me I can't even see, I can't even walk, I can't even protect anyone.
People ran past but there was a light in between them shaped like a person. It advanced towards Troy but he couldn't tell who it is. It sat down next to him and started talking in a man's voice, "Come on old man, you make me ashamed. I can't believe you became so weak and fragile, who are you doing this for? You're here to protect your closest friends not to sit and wait. Get up and prove to me you're the best, show me that old flame that burned inside of you. I lost because you were the best and this makes me sick to watch." Troy began to feel a tingling in his hands and strength entering into his muscles. He started to stand up shakily then his sight came back. He stretched his hands and fingers then flexed his muscles with a smile on his face. "That's who I want to see, now don't disappoint me again." Troy looked to see who it was but the figure disappeared. Again he started his search for Edge thanking the mysterious man for what he just did.

Hizashi knew that it was useless to fight the current for the moment, so he saved his strength and let the flow pull them away. As Sin's bulk rushed to meet them, Hizashi carefully watched the distance, ready to kick off Sin's body and use the momentum to escape, but when his foot made contact, a stabbing pain tore into his leg. He glanced down and saw in horror that one of the sinspawn on Sin's body had latched onto him. He drew his sword and sliced at it, forcing it to retreat. Grabbing Edge and using all his strength, he swam away from Sin fought his way back to the ship.
Dragging Edge on board, he carefully arranged the unconscious summoner on the deck.
"Edge!" he said, taking the summoner by the shoulders and shaking him urgently. "Wake up!"

The moonlit sky seemed to darken as dozens of dark shapes covered it in a hell storm of black missile like objects showered upon the deck of the ship and the waters surrounding it. Cyrille marveled as the dark shapes slowly unfurled, revealing dark glowing blue creatures that heavily massive insects. The few members of the ship that was able to fight started to combat the beings as the civilians ran back inside the depths of the ship. Almost every member of the small group Cyrille had accompanied started to fight off the creatures but the offensive capabilities were nearly cut in half; the summoner was currently drowned somewhere, the blond haired boy had dived in after him and Cyrille was pathetically clinging to the mast.
Cyrille began to fumble about as she searched for something on her person that could help; she never carried weapons as the others seemed to have but she knew if she didn’t help some people might actually get hurt. Suddenly she had remembered something she had stashed away. Reaching behind her back she started to unfasten a long pouch tied to her shorts. What came out were two forearm length silver-steel spanners with a massive fist sized weight resting at the end; Cyrille had taken out two, very large, wrenches.
With a touch of courage she pulled away from the mast and began to combat the small beasts terrorizing the deck.

The images made little sense to him. Flashes of a blitzball game in Luca, of a crowd cheering, children laughing, grass, clouds in the sky, the churning of the sea on a stormy day. A beautiful woman, the ceiling of a house somewhere, people running, screaming.... dying...
What was he seeing? He didn't understand.

Grabbing Edge around the middle, he half dragged, half carried the summoner across the deck towards the direction in which the other guardians should be. He didn't get very far, however, before he was surrounded by sinspawn. He had no choice but to lower Edge back to the ground and draw his sword. He spun and lashed out again and again, temporarily driving some of the sinspawn back, but they quickly returned and formed a circle around him, drawing closer and closer.
"Hey!" he yelled as loudly as he could, above the sounds of panic and destruction. "Guardians! To me!" He raised his sword in the air and channelled a Fire spell through it, causing it to flame brightly in the darkness like a beacon. He was trying to attract the other guardians' attention, but unfortunately it also caught the attention of more sinspawn. If the others fought their way to him, they could dispatch the sinspawn and plan a strategy. Otherwise he and Edge were stuck. Hizashi could keep the sinspawn at bay for the moment, but he couldn't move without leaving Edge behind.

A ship?
Where was he?
Right... he had started his pilgramage... they were on their way from Besaid...
Why were they fighting? When had he collapsed? He couldn't remember. But he knew he had to help. With a soft groan, Edge forced his eyes to open.

Losing his temper, Hizashi channelled a Lightning spell into his blade and made a sweeping cut. When his sword struck an unlucky sinspawn, the fiend was split cleanly in two amid a burst of electricity. It was then that Hizashi heard a soft noise: Edge was stirring and waking up.
"Edge!" he shouted. "Get up! We have a situation!"

Troy kicked it into overdrive and started beating the monsters without them noticing until a few seconds after. Why did there have to be so many, this is too much for an old man.
