He then proceeded to punch the person next to him. Realizing what he just did, he lied. "He tried to pickpocket me".
On that note, everyone continued to go about their business like Jeremy didn't just punch a man for seemingly no reason. The man was still on the ground in pain, because he neither saw the punch coming nor was expecting it. He then proceeded to advertise that they were still taking passengers.
"'Scuse me, but are you travellin' with anyone? I'm lookin' for a ship to take me off this little moon and none have impressed me yet," she said. Her head tilted up to look at the man as he was about half a foot taller than her. Bridget's russet brown eyes holding their usual serious and strong stance. She barely blinked at the man, holding his gaze almost like if she was a python squeezing her victim till he answered. This is what unsettled most about Miss Ransom. Her gaze wasn't exactly cold or commanding, but rather a blank an passionless regard. It didn't give the feeling that she was looking into your soul or anything quite that unsettling, it was a look that made the victim of this stare know that she knew they were there. An unmoving gaze.
"Well, ma'am," he said, "I am travelling with some folks. They're an . . . odd bunch. But if you're looking to be impressed by a ship, you'd probably best look elsewhere. Considering our mechanic, I'm surprised we managed not to blow up yet. If you're looking for a few folks who have it rough, but somehow have the luck to stay alive, that'd be us."
He wasn't trying to dissuade the woman, but he was the sort who wouldn't sell you anything without telling everything that was wrong with it.
"If you've got the cash for passage, we'd be glad to take you on. But right now, we're scraping by, and the only personnel we need in the way of crew is a doc."
He then looked at the woman. "Names Jeremy, commander of bananas and responsible for keeping the damn vessel from blowing up. Granted what I did would have made it blow up eventually, but it was blow up now or risk being blown up later. I'd say it was warranted. Speaking of which, hopefully the captain gets back with what we need soon. I gave him three lists. One telling him what we need to leave the planet without exploding before we hit high atmos, one saying what we need in general, and the final list being what we would need to pass an Alliance safety exam. And I mean pass, not ace".
He then looked at them both. "Though, to be fair, the requirements for that are a joke. Just a way to make you buy more stuff from them. A ship doesn't actually need all that to be considered safe, the Alliance just want you to think that. Just like how they want to think they don't experiment on people or that the elections aren't rigged or aliens don't exist. Because I have extreme doubts Reavers are human. After all, where did they come from, and if they are human, what happened to them?"
"Oh, I forgot to ask. What is your name?" Jeremy asked. He was apparently starting to slip into his insanity again, but at least on a good day or bad he was capable of working on the ship. It wasn't his worse day though. However, he was oblivious to the fact he had left his shoes on the ship, or that he was holding a torch with the safety off. It wasn't active, but generally it's better to have the safety on with tools while your using them.
"Well since you have more nice things to say about the ship than your partner here, why don't you show me the way?" Bridget said, placing a hand on the boys shoulder almost as encouragement to start walking. There were enough people that while the boy was talking about three of them tried to pick pocket her and she wanted to move to the outskirts of the crowd. She turned back to the other man.
"And when I say I'm looking at the ships it's more about what the ship says about the crew. Too clean of a one means there'll be a lot of rules and restrictions, a new one means that they aren't entirely sure how to use it, and a flashy one means they ain't cheap and really only heading to the bigger moons," she shrugged, "I'm just lookin' for a cheaper ride that'll take me somewhere other than where the Alliance is if you know what I mean."
"Well, I wasn't sayin' we can get you from place to place. To be honest, when it comes right down to it, if there's a place you gotta get to, we can get you there, no noubt. And if you got creds, or can work for passage, I'm sure the captain will take you on."
He glanced at Jeremy, a bit wary. never knew when he might get a little . . . unstable.
"Hey, kid, if Miss. . ," he paused to look at the woman. "Ransom, wasn't it? If Miss Ransom decides our ship is worth boarding, can you lead her to John? He'll want to meet any passengers we take on."
He gave Miss Ransom a nod.
"I hope you'll excuse me, miss. I mean to see about getting a decent meal before we have to lift off again. Shipboard food will keep you functioning, but it gorram near kills your tastebuds."
"And John went shopping for parts, so I have no clue where he is. Anyways, I can take you to our ship. Its right over here".
As he went over to it, a few others seemed to be by the ship wondering about transport. A traveling salesman, a priestess, an orphan that somehow indicated he had the creds to pay them, and an old retiree looking to retire peacefully.
"Anyways, John should be here soon. I guess we will wait a bit".
(If Comet doesn't reply to me soon, I am taking temporary control of the character. Also, I kind of figured that we wouldn't be picking up just one passenger)
