Not too tall nor too short, Mako's build is a fairly average one for a girl her age. Clearly not an athlete of any sort and more looking like someone who eats properly and exercises just barely enough to maintain her healthy appearance. Her skin is on the paler side giving the impression of a girl who prefers to stay out of the sun. Her face is usually host to a merry expression which often gives her features a softer look, despite this however the grey-blue orbs of her eyes always look sharp, aware, and full of energy, always curiously and intently taking in everything around her. Perhaps what stands out most about Mako at a first glance is her naturally curly and wild looking hair that, despite her best efforts, remains mostly untameable and wild on a day to day basis. On particularly bad days she'll simply stuff the curly mess under a hat or cap of some sort.

Her wardrobe is filled with reserved and cool colors and in terms of numbers her selection of clothing is quite dominated by winter-time clothing, things like coats, scarves, and long-sleeved shirts.

If you ask around Setogiwa about Makoto, most people would tell you she's a kind and energetic young woman, you'd probably also hear that she's a bit of a troublemaker and maybe even a little stupid, the type to leap before she looks. Despite this she's a well liked individual around town by most residents with her charming nature and her uncanny ability to get on people's good side. Mako is a girl who rarely takes much seriously, or at the very least likes to give that impression, and prefers go at life in her own laid-back pace, laughing away her troubles and always trying to smile.
Known for living her life on a whim Makoto has quite the proclivity to goof off, this isn't to say she's incapable of working hard or seriously but it is a fairly rare event. That said, when something does call for Mako to be serious she can become quite a force to be reckoned with, refusing to let anyone or anything stand in her way. Makoto is someone who keeps her word and is reliable despite her whimsical nature, someone who will give their all to keep a promise and who hates to give up.

- Music || "I inherited my love of all things musical from my mom... I've got a broad taste and I'll give anything a listen at least once, whether it's classical, pop, metal, or anything in between... I absolutely love music."

The Past

Mako's childhood was really nothing special, the only child of a very middle-classed, average family. Her father was a well-respected martial artist who had some moderate success in the sport but had settled down to the married life and become a police officer, Mako's mother fell back to her secondary passion in books and worked as the head of the local library after pursuing a mostly unsuccessful music career. Overall their life was a happy one that moved at a slow and steady pace. Mako took after her mother in many ways, she inherited not only her looks but much of cheery disposition and hobbies, suffice it to say, she was most assuredly a mama's girl.
The first real bump in her life occurred around her late elementary school years. It was around this time that her mother began to grow ill and at that time the details were kept from Mako, all she knew was that her mother was in the hospital often wasn't feeling well. Over the course of the next year and a half her mother's condition only worsened until she ultimately passed away. Her death was hardly a shock, it wasn't sudden or traumatic, but it still left a profound sadness on Makoto and her father for years to come. The once bright and energetic girl that was Makoto disappeared, replaced by a much more reserved and quiet girl who retained her kind nature but certainly wasn't the same. Eventually however she recovered, as they say 'time heals all wounds' but o this day Makoto still looks up to her mother quite a bit and frequently takes time to visit her grave, always treasuring the memories she shared with her.
In her recent high school years Mako is known as an outgoing and cheerful student, relatively popular as a helpful and supportive girl to her peers. Her grades are less than stellar, not for lack of intelligence but more as a result of lack of motivation or effort, Mako prefers to spend her time with music and games than with studying or doing homework. For a little less than a year now Makoto has been working in a local cafe part time that goes by the name of Blue Flower in order to earn a bit of spending cash and earning some slight independence from her father.
