History of the Character
Freud's history of is one of largely common knowledge. A famous psychiatrist whose theories on the subconscious mind created the foundation for a number of key psychologic theories. Considered a genius in his youth, in recent years his theories have become a matter or public debate, often criticized for their emphasis on dream analysis and hypnosis which have come under fire by the larger parts of the scientific community. Current fame has returned to him though in his recent publications on the treatment and management of heroine induced psychosis. Freud himself struggles with a avid cocaine addiction, kept as a closely guarded secret, he lives in constant fear of discovery, knowing the tremendous personal and professional ramification if this were ever brought to light.
Personality
Soft spoken, Freud maintains an air of constant distance. A strong believer that too much involvement or disclosure of the doctors life to the patient will lead to problematic role establishments during treatment. However, Freud is a man of true passion. His strong desire to understand peoples motivation and cure them of their "internal struggles" borders on the pathologic. Despite tremendous success in his life Freud has maintained a constant battle with depression, and is extremely sensitive about the critique of his intellectual property. Those close to him would call him condescending, but in most cases its just his strong belief in his own ability to read others that results in frank commentary which can be abrasive to some.
