Nova is a person who deeply longs to be accepted by romantic partners. To the point that spirals far past the idea of 'unhealthy'. The suicide pact, however, was enough to knock some priorities and all consuming shame into that pretty little head of his. In the end, Nova traded in one pair of shackles for another.

He has placed everything he has into his friendship.

To be fair, it's questionable if anyone would even want a friend like Nova. He's cool, handsome, witty... and is just so fucking smug about it. He is aware of his own virtue and is delighted by what he sees.

Nova shows off his handful of good points like a child with a plate of macaroni art. 'Look at this! Isn't it neat? Don't you want it??' He is so desperate for the approval of his companions, that possessing qualities that could acquire the said approval fills the man with maniacal glee.

He is very silly, and an actor. Nova loves to make others laugh, and will throw what little dignity he possesses under the bus just to hear it.

Nova is also cursed with what I would call the 'instant self-gratification monkey'. He procrastinates himself to death, spends money on whatever shiny thing catches his interest, and is the type to leave for groceries and come back with a sleeve of tattoos. Forget even trying to make him focus on any one thing without some kind of incentive.

The guy is also a person who wears his sexuality on his sleeve. Not only is he unapologetically pansexual, but he is also the source of a wellspring of good natured perversion. Normally it is all in harmless fun, but heaven forbid he actually ends up in a relationship with someone.
