King Julius Midas ruled a small and unchallenged kingdom in the north, Drodor. He was a good ruler, shrewd and mindful of his people’s needs, their land was a harsh one to live in but they always made due. He was a gifted man, who could turn anything he touched to gold. He was also an ambitious man, who was not satisfied with the meager kingdom he had. He, like all kings, wanted to burn his mark on the world, and would harm others to do it.

Come one winter King Midas sent his finest warriors to the south to raid and bring him goods. Midas more importantly requested they bring him gifted children. Ones with gifts like his. He had fine warriors to be sure, but he reveled to think of the ones he could make all the finer by raising them for his own means, and with gifts all their own too, a small army of such individual woulds be frightening. He sent his scouts about the land in secret and without sigil to look for and steal such children.

With this underway he worked on a treaty with a neighboring kingdom, one with a king equally hungry for glory. Emperor Midas would laugh now at the notion that he needed the aid of another’s forces but back then it truly was necessary, as his kingdom was so small and his forces not yet ready. It took a few years for them to taste their first victory together but taste it and divide the spoils they did. With one kingdom felled and absorbed into their own lands they sought another, and another, and another, until finally King Midas decided he no longer required aid, and his ally became his next victim.

With the full use of his notorious elite army, the wolves of Drodor as they came to be called, he conquered the entirety of the north and beyond, creating the Drodorian Empire. Nearly 60 years into his campaign and Emperor Midas has become stuck at the Skyfall Mountains, the border that separates the vast plains of the Roahn Kingdom and everyone else. His options are to attempt sending his forces through the treacherous mountains, a difficult and slow process, or to go around them. Unfortunately Roahn’s King is no fool and has been long preparing for the Drodorian Empire to attack despite Emperor Midas’s efforts to ensure him that he had no interest in his land. Either side of the mountain range is barricaded and heavily guarded. Emperor Midas makes no move, in truth he is nervous, should he succeed in conquering Roahn he will have proved Queen Judith wrong, and the rest of her prophecy with it. But should her prophecy be true, four gifted children could very well be raising a rebellion against him even as he plots a way to complete his Empire. There is no precaution Emperor Midas overlooks, no small detail he misses, he will snuff out the first sign of disloyalty even if it means killing entire villages. This is a tense time for the Drodorian Empire indeed.

Among the first Kingdoms to fall at the hands of Midas's schemes was a Kingdom under the rule of Queen Judith, a gifted woman who could glimpse into the future. Because of this felling her kingdom came as a great challenge, but if Midas could conquer her land, he could conquer it all. Her kingdom was something of test for himself. Though he was able to out-maneuver the seer, she told him one last prophecy that would continue to haunt him for the rest of his life. Only he and three others, the best of his then trainee Wolves, were present at the time of its telling, and he has sworn each of them to silence on the matter. However no one else knowing of the prophecy does not make it any less real. He knew from experience against Queen Judith that the future was not set in stone, but he has no way of knowing what steps he takes towards or away from it.

β€œAs I saw my Kingdom fall, so too shall yours.
Not today, nor even for many seasons. You will
succeed in building an Empire but it will never be finished.
Four gifted heroes will rise against you
and it will be your end.”

Emperor Midas' horrors will be realized in the form of four gifted young people, all pulled from the fabrics of time and space by a magic thought long dead. They originate from a world and time entirely different from Drodor. And when they wake up in a strange forest in the middle of a war they have nothing to do with, it will take all they have and the help of a single traitor of the Empire that wants them dead to keep them alive. But will this traitor really help them? Or are they just pawns on a chess board. They have powers each that are far beyond what anyone around them can do, but no control or direction. They just want to go home, but a prophecy calls on them to be heroic. Can they be heroes? Can they even manage to survive? Each will have to delve into their own meaning of the word hero and decide for themselves if they can step up to the title.

To summarize, this roleplay will be about the unraveling of the Prophecy that foretells the fall of Emperor Midas. It will either succeed or fail. Roles will include the four gifted heroes mentioned in the prophecy and a few members of the notorious wolf pack, Emperor Midas' small army of elite warriors. The gifted children will be around 18-24, so keep that in mind if you make one. "Gifts" for the four will be relatively powerful ones, like telekinesis and the like, gifts for the wolf pack will be rather small and simple, like for instance Lady Ophelia's gift: the ability to walk on walls. More on this can be found in the Lore forum.

The main thing about the four gifted heroes other than their powers is that they are each from a different point in time in America. Like the 50's, 40's, 20's and even 2k16. Each child will be from a different time period, and each will be thrown in the world our rp takes place in. They will live normal lives and go about their day, but at some point in their day they will pass out and wake up in the middle of The Giant's Thicket, with only the clothes on their back and each other. Make these young people interesting, they don't have to be competent or a super survivor-man, in fact that'd be a little boring if they were. They don't have to be from the same state as eachother and there is no preferred gender ratio, I'm just looking for interesting characters that will make a nice mix and group.

Please read through everything [ESPECIALLY THE LORE FORUM], I can't tell you how annoying it is to get a question about something that's written down three times in the info but the player couldn't be bothered to read. I mean this an rp in the first place if you don't like to read I don't understand the appeal of rping for you. That being said if you don't understand something or need something clarified by all means, please ask me lovely.

Format the character sheet however you like, just make sure all the information I've listed is in it.

[OOC] DO NOT POST IN THE OOC UNTIL YOU ARE ACCEPTED IN THE ROLEPLAY. I know, that sounds odd and a little different, but bare with me I'm trying something different in order to avoid unnecessary drama from people that aren't even in the roleplay. You might wonder how you're going to be sure who is making what type of character and who is applying, don't worry, I'll be posting application updates with usernames and links to WIP or completed profiles. That way you don't end up using the same idea as someone else.

[COMMON SENSE] I won't patronize you by writing out the etiquette involved in interacting with rps and other players. I'm sure the people applicable to this roleplay will be mature enough to know the particulars. Just be aware that should there be a problem between players you are both to come to me before it gets out of hand. It's best to bite that stuff in the bud before it becomes a thing. Things can be ever so destructive to a roleplay you know.

[RATED M FOR MATURE] People who have issues or are triggered by violence or other extremes are not advised to expect any warnings when something bad is going to happen. This rp will probably take a dark turn at some points and at the drop of a hat, don't expect this to be a happy-go-lucky rp, that's not to say there won't be comedy though. Please communicate and be active in the ooc (after you are accepted), even a simple hello will suffice. A talkative and active ooc makes for a fruitful roleplay!

[CHARACTERS] Please p l e a s e come to me with your character idea before you go filling out the whole character sheet. I don't want your efforts to be for nothing and I don't want to waste your time. I'm sure your cult sorcerer from another continent is a fantastic person but they may not fit in with the lore or plot of this particular rp, I just want to make sure that we're all on the same page because it'd suck to write a whole bio and turns out this or that detail is unacceptable. Now while normally over-powered characters are a bore-snore all of our characters are going to be generally powerful in varying degrees and in control of it on varying levels depending on who you're playing. It's not a competition on powers, but I suppose it is one on how interesting and whole of a character you can put together. That should be your first second and third concern, not the powers, or "gifts", as this rp calls them. Your main concern should be how good of a character you can come up with. You can play more than one character, though I suggest starting out that you only make one and go from there so you can tailor new characters to what will enhance the rp storyline instead of e x p a n d i n g it. Should there be accepted profiles please glance over them so we can have a well rounded cast, plus knowing the other characters could give you your own idea! Which would be fun, collaborations will make the story thicker. I, like you presumably, do love drama. There are no reservations but it's not first come first serve either, so if there's more than four people wanting to make one of the prophesied four then I'll choose which character applications are of the best quality in terms of writing and characterization. So it can be considered a bit of a competition in that sense. There isn't really a cap on the number of Drodorians however so those will most likely be accepted without issue so long as you are literate enough. Again, you are allowed more than one character.

[LITERACY]600-900+ words should be your comfortable writing range per post, more is acceptable of course but not less. There is something to be said about quality over quantity but you can't have much quality without any meat to the post you know? Please don't take this as a stressful thing, it's merely to ensure that everyone is at a level where we can make this particular rp enjoyable for all involved. Ultimately this is all so we can have fun! Don't forget that, this is for entertainment and we will make this one hell of a ride if we put effort into it.

*Please be in for the long haul, do not apply if you can't commit.
