Introduction

Image

In the world of Rhindeval, there were many kingdoms ruled by good kings and queens. Each had either a prince or a princess. The princes and princesses all knew each other, but one day their whole world would change. When they were still very young (ages range from 5 to 12) an evil enchantress infiltrated the birthday party of one of the princes and killed all of the rulers and captured their children. She brainwashes all of the children before banishing the princesses as well as her sister, a good sorceress, to Earth and taking in the princes as her servants. Over the years she acquired the lands of the other kingdoms using her dark magic. Rebels have tried overthrowing her, but to no avail.

Meanwhile the princesses are adopted on Earth. With no memory of their original home, the princesses live out normal lives while the princes grow up being loyal to the Enchantress, who is now the new Queen of Rhindeval. The only reminder the girls have of their home are pendents they wear and are never parted from them.

Years pass and the princesses are now attending the same local college in modern times of the USA. All the princes and princesses have aliases, without knowledge of their real names. Soon though the princesses will start remembering Rhindeval with the help of the Good Sorceress, who has finally found all of them. The sorceress knows that the princesses are destined to return to Rhindeval, save the princes and defeat her sister. And she'll do that with just a little bit of magic.

It has been 13 years since the Evil Enchantress took over. Princes and Princesses are ages from 18 to 25 now. The princes are currently serving the Queen's bidding. It'll be up to ya'll to decide what their duties are. They can be a member of the royal guard, to an assassin, to anything you want. However all of them do report to the Queen at some point when she summons them. The queen herself hasn't age a day or at least hasn't appeared to have age. She uses dark magic make sure of that by stealing the life force of young women throughout the kingdoms. The princes have no memories of being royal and all believe they have served the queen all their lives. The Queen gave the princes new names in order for them not to remember their true names.

The Good Sorceress is making preparations to unlocks the memories of the princesses. They are currently living out normal college lives. The college they all attend is located in a fictional town in the Pacific Northwest, most likely Oregon. The girls will all be attending a local festival in town and will run into each other and it's from here they'll all be gathered by the Sorceress as they start to remember. The pendents they have are all precious stones that they wear as necklaces. Each is different and unique. Keep that in mind if you reserve a princess. Oh the princes will get their own magical items, but that'll come later. RPG will briefly start in two places- Rhindeval and Earth, but once the girls are back to their original home, it'll stay exclusively in Rhindeval. Plans are to travel through the various kingdoms; hence the adventure aspect of this RPG. Also through the pendents, all princesses will develop magical skills of their own.

Note- This isn't mandatory, but there's a Discord group for this RPG here- Fractured Kingdoms Discord

Kinera Laibon:: Dark Orchid

Kinera was NOT expecting to find herself in yet another anxiety inducing situation, considering she was finally relaxing in a bath that would stay properly warm for… Well. A while.

Every now and then she would glance at Justice, taking a brief moment to make sure the other woman was okay, before looking away and paying her no further heed. Save for the sight of what she thought was the most adorable little creature chasing… Something… Into the river…?
Or someone. That was a little person. That was, “A little human— Silvia? SILVIA?! Oh! Oh!!! Justice— Keep that little, THING?! Away!” Kinera cried, no shrieking here, no no.

Instead, the woman simply rushed forward, hands coming out and cupping the tiny Silvia in them. She brought the other girl up and out of the water, mind flashing back to when she had a pair of chinchillas. Her hands kept Silvia covered, to keep the cold of the air away from her skin as best she could. Years of muscle memory, of time spent both learning how to handle the decorative process of her bakeries’ menu, kept Silvia from being crushed.

Her heart was pounding, thoughts racing, panic soaring. Did she somehow cause this? She didn’t think so, she hadn’t made a shrinking potion, and if she had, she wouldn’t have left it out… Right? She didn’t bring one. She didn’t make one. There wasn’t enough magic back— Back home, so—
Oh god please be okay please be okay please be okay…” She begged. Kinera’s eyes locked on the fuzzball, watching as it followed her progress from Silvia’s potential drowning spot, to where Kinera now stood, back by Justice’s side.
What did it want…?

"I don't get it. I eat just as much as you, why am I the only one looking like a twelve year old boy?" Reese griped, scowling at herself in the mirror as measuring tape floated around her. She twisted to the side, pinching her chest. "They just look I've been bitten by a bug there or something." She flexed her biceps, which had a lot more to show, and drew them across her chest. "Hey Nut, can I get these measured while you're at it?"

"UGH," Nut replied.

The door opened. "Hm?" Reese blinked and looked over her shoulder, not moving an inch from her scantily clad flexing in front of the mirror. Her expression was unchanged almost all throughout the fairy's explanation and request for help, but her arms started to droop. "... Huh. Small? How small?"

She swooped her Space Jam t-shirt off the bed and pulled it down over herself before throwing her floofy thrift store coat over her shoulder. "Sure, I'll look. I wanted to check the woods out anyway." She offered with a shrug, being deliberately casual in the face of whatever real danger might have befallen the princess. "You coming Freddie?"

Hex Code: #778899, "But the worst in me doesn't want to work on things." - Julia Michaels

Image
What is THAT? Silver eyes squinted as a seemingly small person was swimming towards them. Did Eowyn have perverted fairies about? But there was something weirdly recognizable about this one the closer it got to them. I just can't put my finger on it... Then the tiny hand with its tiny fingers shot out of the water and their identity clicked in her mind...

“A little human— Silvia? SILVIA?! Oh! Oh!!! Justice— Keep that little, THING?! Away!”

Justice's eyes went wide, watching as Silvia thrashed about trying not to drown. It reminded her too much of that time with the sirens. "How about you ask why I went to help you in the past-" She clutched the side of her head trying to contain the nagging voice as Kinera rushed to save her. Why was she remembering that stupid guilt trip now? It wasn't like... she didn't mean... she didn't ask... for help.

"You don’t need to tell me what I was already going to do!" Justice responded before wading into the deeper waters. Her arms swung at her bare sides with balled-up fists grumpily. She wasn't a 'bodyguard' and she didn't take orders from anybody but at the same time, a conflict waged within her that was enough to go and do something about that thing.

"The pipsqueak's yours." Justice said to Kinera as she approached the weird creature, acting as a distraction and barrier of sorts. "Hey, whatever-the-hell-you-are... !!!" She called out, waving her arms in the air to get its attention. "Get..." Justice inhaled deeply then released a really loud, ear-piercing scream. "OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTT!!!!!" Her voice rang so loudly one would swear the forest could have tremored from the echo alone.

"GET OUT! GET OUT!! GET OUT!!" She repeated, scooping water in her hands and splashing the bug-lizard over and over like a pitching machine. All her tantrums in the family pool were starting to pay off. "Don't even THINK about it! This is MY WATER! This is MY STREAM. Find ANOTHER!!!" She gave the pest one more good splash right in its eye. The creature panicked, deciding that the girl was a predator giving off a warning, and flew away disappearing into the trees.

"Go tell your friends and family to B U G OFFFFF too!" Justice waved mockingly and smirked triumphantly. Once she made eye contact with the girls again, she looked away, her arms fell limp and the grin faded. She looked on discreetly from under her fringe for the affirmation that Silvia was really okay small and all then... tirade. "What a pest! If it took a dump in here, that would have REALLY annoyed me." She said with a scowl, folding her arms to sit under her bosom. Well, it WOULD have bothered her if that happened. It wasn't a lie... "Like I only have... SO MUCH soap but we only get the ONE stream."

Tyann Rebal :: #F47206

Tyann blinked as Ari approached, opening his mouth to hail the other man before his thoughts screeched to a halt, mind going blank as a wave of brief pain sundered his brain.

His head ached, and even as Ari spoke to him, Tyann growled through the pain under his breath.
It passed, and it took The Beastmaster a moment to click back into reality. His hand lurched out, catching Ari’s as he gave a quiet, grateful, gasp. Down and off of Oorhund’s back he went, before he barked at the direwolf.
Said beast slowly laid himself down, whining lowly, as Tyann proceeded to then pull the chest off the massive lupine.
Thank you Ari… I… Ah… I’m returning for but a moment— Thank you for getting the- the- ugh…” he trailed off, thoughts spiraling… He thought of Ari as a friend! He was! So— Why did it hurt to admit that? To think it—? … No matter.

Tyann straightened up, clearing his throat and forcing himself through the pain. He survived ankheg’s venom, he survived a wyverns bite, and he survived the taming of the Thunder—
White out pain, again—
The taming of the giant centipedes from The Healer’s homeland. He could survive this mere headache.

Sorry. I’ve been troubled by intense migraines. They come and go… No matter. My friend, thank you for getting the carriages ready. And for accounting for … Her majesty’s companion. I come from the port town down Roald’s Road. Korgan and The Huntsman had… An altercation,” He hissed this, cold wrath wrapping around his heart. They harmed his employee’s livelihood. How dare they! “And resulted in a rather large detonation. I’m… Sorry to say your bakery was lost. I was able to retrieve this when I arrived, and I will admit that I looked through it to confirm that it held no contraband. I apologize… I relinquish its possession back to you, along with the proper funds to have it repaired… And reinforced.

Tyann topped this statement with that certain air of finality, that determined tone he took when there was no argument to be brokered.

The chest was held out to Ari, with Tyann staring the other man dead in his eyes. Even with the mask hiding Tyann’s, Ari was sure to feel the gaze of The Beastmaster looking him in the eye.

”Objectification is above all exteriorization,
the alienation of spirit from itself.”
~Nikolai Berdyaev

Hex Code ~ #088A29

The enthusiastic nature that belonged to Jai would have been exhausting to Ryder if it were not for the fact that he had grown to be so accustomed to the other man’s excessive energies. Instead, Ryder simply rolled his eyes at the flamboyant wailing that was Jai’s complaints over their lack of activities. The man was not wrong though; it had been quite a while since Ryder had put aside time for frivolous things such as gallivanting about Rhindeval on a fairy hunt. At that thought, he cast a sideways glance down at Edith, who had pulled up a chair so that she could sit at Edmund’s side, one hand the pinky of one of his injured fingers, the other playing with her doll and betraying that innocence that still held the young girl. After a few moments of intense contemplation, Ryder let out a frustrated sigh as he finally caved and ran his fingers through his hair, giving away the reason why said mop was consistently messy and unkempt.

”Fine. I will work on making plans for us to leave the castle, but I am only willing to allow for a five day journey - nothing more, as I cannot leave my duties for any longer. I have events to plan and agendas to attend to in our Queen’s absence, and I would hate to disappoint her by shirking in my duties,” he told Jai, his voice firm. At the next mention of Benedicto, Ryder sneered. ”I will put that putried porker of a hog Korgan in charge of the castle before that overzealous, meddlesome preacher Benedicto,” he practically bit out, his words dripping with malice and annoyance towards Sir Carama.

At the utterance of the young woman that was now under Jai’s direction, Ryder quirked a brow upwards in question. He had seen the girl in question, yes - she was difficult to forget as her appearance was not a common one within what could be considered the ‘capital’ of Rhindeval. With flowing silver hair that shimmered under the sun’s rays, giving off an ethereal shine, and intense yet gentle eyes that were not quite violet yet not quite magenta either, the girl stood out within the castle walls for her soft yet exquisite beauty. Something that Ryder found surprising, given the Queen’s tendency to hire only attractive men and unattractive women in her staff, from what he had noticed over the years. Other than Jai, he had heard murmurs and whispers of the girl and her tender heart yet stubborn persona, both from his birds and the servants. Little went on within the fortress that housed the Queen without her Right Hand having no knowledge of it, and Tempeste Ponce was no exception. Her background was unremarkable, having worked alongside an average doctor in an average town during her medical training, and the only thing that truly stood out about the young woman was her appearance and her seemingly soft-hearted nature. Then again, Ryder had yet to speak to or observe her personally, so these were all assumptions based upon hearsay.

With an eye roll in Jai’s direction, Ryder plucked up the previously discarded bottle of wine which was still considerably full and approached the sitting area where the man had made his place, shaking the bottle a bit in offering. He was ahead on his duties for the morning and had no other appointments until later that afternoon, and had already finished arranging for Ivelda’s departure, so he did have some time to kill and, despite his better judgement, was won over by his friend’s carefree attitude, his studies seemingly forgotten for the time being. Instead, he seemed more than happy to distract himself for a bit as they watched over Edmund’s snoozing, healing form nearby, and he dropped down into a comfortable chesterfield style chair, sliding out the drawer on the end-table beside him to withdraw two pristine wine glasses.

Expertly he poured the deep red liquid into each glass, the color quite akin to the blood they so recently had been working in, and once he had set the bottle down, he offered a glass to Jai. With a slight lift of his hand, he clinked their glasses together and without a word tossed the crimson liquid back in one quick chug, betraying his overall stress and need for a moment of relaxation. Once emptied, he immediately poured another glass, clearly in it for the long haul as he peered over the rim of his goblet at Jai, his expression a mixture of thoughtfulness and . disappointment. ”You are aware that the girl - Tempeste, I mean - is in fact a person, correct? Not simply a trophy to be won, a land to be conquered, or a mission to be fulfilled. She is not simply a conquest, Jai - she is a living, breathing human with thoughts and emotions, and you should learn to be more sensitive to the fragility of the human psyche before the karma of it all comes back to bite you like a snake in the ass,” he ended it on a bit of a joke, but the seriousness of his words were still heavy between the men. It was a long-standing argument between them - Jai’s casanova nature and Ryder’s tendency to be a bit dull - and he could not help but chastise his friend over his less-than-chivalrous attitude towards women - and, well, men.

Ryder sighed and sipped his wine, massaging the bridge of his nose despite not having a headache of any sort. ”I simply wish you would be more considerate of the feelings of those that you set your targets on. They are not toys, Jai - they are people. And I am afraid that one of these days, you will end up going after the wrong person and it will all backfire onto you, be it physically or emotionally. You can only play so much before it comes back to you,” he warned, clearly also looking out for his good friend’s best interests.

Freddie’s brows shot up at Reese’s remark. She held her arms and looked down to one side. ”Really? Cause sometimes I think…” Then the other. ”...That my butt… is too big…” She shrugged. ”That’s why I like to… tie my jacket… at the waist…”

”PHBT-BHT-BT!” Zuri blowed raspberries at them. ”Oh, you zhuman girls just complain, complain, complain.” The fairy turned up her nose and dismissed them with a wave. ”That’s why we fairies are zfantastic.” Zuri buzzed over to Nut’s side. ”Isn’t that right, zNut?”

“It’s Nut.”

”That’s what I said! zNut.”

A vein twitched on Nut’s brow. “That is NOT WHAT YOU-”

Freddie listened alongside Reese to Nyx’s request for help. Her lips parted loose as she pondered, ”Silvia… can shrink…?” Slowly, Freddie turned her head towards Reese and held up a finger gun. ”That’s rad.”

‘Rad’ as it was, it was still a problem. Freddie grabbed her hoodie and followed after Reese. ”Yeah…”

With Nyx’s guidance, Reese and Freddie traversed the woods beyond the cabin. They brushed aside foliage and stepped over bushes (and Freddie made sure to poke at every mildly shiny thing she found). ”Silvia? Silvia…!” Freddie called out intermittently.

”SILVIA! Oh, zSilviaaaa!” Zuri cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted.

A few minutes passed, when something swiftly pricked their ears - Justice. Shrieking, screaming, hollering, with a voice shrill enough to disturb even the most peaceful of ghosts from their rest. ”Luce!” She shouted, her eyes wide as she made a run towards the source. Zuri’s wings beat twice as fast, and she zipped and zipped after her princess. ”SLOW DOWN YOU ZFOOL! You’re going to hurt yourzself!” The wind rushed past Freddie. ”Ow.” Bushes and branches slapped her, even as she swat them away, until…

They came upon water. A river, clear and shimmering with reflected light, with Kinera and Justice within. ”Lucie! Are you okay? There was… screaming. Lots of it...” She looked upon their nude selves, her face as placid as the waters. Until she turned to Kinera, and her brows knit over squinting eyes. ”You… weren’t… offering her another weird potion, were you…?”

Reese was looking under a rock when the screams came. She dropped the rock and tilted her head with a huff, rolling her eyes to the sky and watching the birds fly away. The magical forest had almost made her feel serenity. She knew that kind of scream, the angry tremor to it and what it meant. Lucie had the lung capacity of a toddler who was never told to shut up. Then grew up.

Freddie was quite a bit more perturbed by the cries than Reese. "Calm down, she's not in danger, she's just - inconvenienced," Reese began, but Freddie was already sprinting away... Reese's brow furrowed at the sight of Freddie going somewhere in a hurry, and for what she'd just processed... "Luce?" She repeated incredulously to herself, left in Freddie's dust. The nickname stung her tongue. She hadn't forgotten Freddie's actions when they stepped through the portal together. She shook the intruding thoughts away and ran after her.

Reese ducked under all the branches Freddie kept flinging back at her. She slowed down along the way, not too happy about where they were headed, but kept the girl in her sights. She saw her come to a stop outside of the thicket and jogged over. "Jesus, Fred. What was it, a bug in her louis vuittons-"

She froze.

Much... much unlike the unperturbed Freddie, Reese turned into stone the moment she laid her eyes on the scene in the river. Red coloured her face like wine being poured into a glass, starting at her neck, and filling her entire head. "A-a- Sorry!" She turned away in two seconds flat and DOVE behind a bush. One could almost see a cloud of steam FWOOSH up from her hiding place.

Reese's eyes had turned to swirls. Idiot! Idiot, idiot, idiot! What WAS that?! She internally screamed, Why did you react like that? What's wrong with you?! You're girls, get back out there and just be cool with it! They're going to know! She frowned at her internal voice. Of course they'd already know, idiot.

"Di- uh, have you GUYS SEEN SILVIA?!" She shouted from behind the bush - distracting herself. The tiny Silvia in Kinera's hands had definitely not been the first place her eyes had gone. "SHE'S KINDA HARD TO SPOT RIGHT NOW BUT yeah."

Kinera Laibon:: Dark Orchid

Kinera’s ears again burned, and she was sure her skin was going to turn as red as Reese’s. Even if she was a fair deal darker, it was absolutely possible! … But alas she didn’t. There was an undignified squeak, however.

Silvia went up on the top of Kinera’s head, as the girl sank up to her nose into the warm river water, arms and legs pulling up as much as they could to hide herself. Because this, this was too much, too many people while she was too vulnerable, and nowhere approaching ‘put together’. Then Freddie spoke, and that embarrassment and guilt got even more intense. Even more overwhelming.

She did raise up her hand to give a sign that she at least had Silvia, but otherwise? Kinera didn’t speak, didn’t move, and tried hard to just… Vanish into her skin. If she wasn’t, y’know, she probably would’ve done what Reese had done. Instead she had to take solace in some river water…

‘Yayyy.’

No— Well— Might as well speak up—
She’s— Fuh-ah!! Ack— water— Shes on my head! I’ve got her. There was this… Bug-cat-dragon thing, I think it wanted to eat her? Uh— No I wasn’t offering Justice a potion! … Um… Someone get Reese out from behind the bush…?

Reese’s reaction was… Interesting. As strange as it was familiar, why did she hide when she saw—

Oh! Well, when you think about it a bit, Reese hadn’t shown any interest in the princes— Beyond saving them— So… Huh.
Kinera wasn’t the only one who was a bit different, here. That… Was a relief? At least Reese wouldn’t judge her, if it ever came up—? … Was it Justice? Kinera wouldn’t have been surprised.

FOCUS!! Tiny Silvia! Goodness gracious great balls of FIRE! Why was it so hard to focus?! … Beyond that too many people had seen her vulnerable. Hm.

Is Tyann going to die? I should bring him to Tem- She's dead. Why do those I care for always come to an unlucky or premature end? Wait. The bakery? Lost? Ellen had wished for her bakery to be around forever...I couldn't even help keep that wish or do my part in it.

His thoughts did not stop when he saw the broken chest. His smile faded as he took on a blank expression. Ari forced himself to breathe normally even as his chest felt tight.

Am I going to drop dead now? I failed Tempeste. I couldn't protect her. I failed Ellen. Her bakery is destroyed. Am I going to fail Tyann as well? How can I help him? He should see someone at the medical ward. I am sure he will refuse to go. Drinking tea and rest helps me when my head hurts at times. He may need something to eat as well...

Ari couldn't help it as worry filled his eyes as he stared back at Tyann. He forced himself to nod and take the broken chest. He didn't trust himself to speak just yet. Ari could feel a storm of emotions forming in him. He had to try to calm down. Ari could not get emotional here of all places.

Is he going to die? Just die being Ivelda's puppet, without knowing he is a prince? Will he never get the chance to be a king? No. I need to try to help him. Tempeste always implied I should be more positive. What did she use to say? How do you know it's not a blessing in disguise? It could be a blessing in disguise. It was something along those lines. Nevertheless, I need to make Tyann go to his room to rest and then I'll get him tea and a treat somehow.

"Tyann, my dear friend, may I put the chest in your room for a temporary time? I have no where now where I can store it as the bakery was my home," he said. He gripped the chest at the thought that it was gone. He had so many memories of Ellen there. He pushed his thoughts away so he wouldn't get trapped in them again. He made himself smile at Tyann despite how he was feeling.

"Please forgive me if this is too forward, but would you stay here for the rest of the day? Since you are unwell...I believe it would be good if you rested until you felt well. I can bring you tea as well. I am sure the kitchen staff will allow me to make you a quick treat as well. I'll worry otherwise if you do leave again, and I am unable to check in on you," he added.

Was he going to mention he would try to get Prince Naeem, Jai, to help him if Tyann didn't improve? No. He knew Jai was in charge of the medical ward thanks to Tempeste. He was the only one Ari decided he could trust now to look at Tyann. Tempeste would have been his first choice. He forced himself not to worry if Tyann said no. Ari decided he'd figure something out if he did.

Silvia gasped for air when she was out of the water and safely in someone’s hands. She had to move her wet hair away from her face and wipe her eyes before she saw who it was. It was Kinera. She had saved her. She focused on catching her breath as she listened to Justice yelling. She didn’t bother to move yet as she felt exhausted. Silvia did finally shift her weight when she heard other voices. It was Freddie and Reese.

She obediently went to Kinera's head as she was moved. Silvia didn’t realize why Kinera was reacting the way she was until she looked at Justice. She was naked. Kinera was naked as well then. Justice had mentioned soap, so they must have been taking a bath. Silvia felt bad for interrupting it and causing so much trouble. Freddie and Reese were even there. She knew it must have been Nyx, who she saw walking away from the group at a quick pace. Silvia wasn't able to feel embarrassed. Her magic was leaving her or it seemed that way. She was growing this time luckily.

The last thing she was going to do was grow on Kinera’s head, especially after she saved her life. She slid off the back of her head quickly and dived into the water. A few seconds later, she was her normal height. Silvia signed in relief but made her way to stand in front of Kinera. It seemed she was flustered about being naked in front of the others. She would try to help Reese after as she was in a bush for some reason. Silvia was tired but needed to make sure Reese and Kinera were okay. She’d then need to change as wet socks weren't her jam. Silvia looked down to make eye contact with Kinera.

“First, thank you so much for saving me, Kinera. Second, do you want me to help you get to land and covered? I can block them from seeing you for the most part. I promise not to look either. I can give you my clothing too if you want to change in the water. I don’t really care if anyone sees me naked. Third, I apologize for interrupting your bath...but maybe it was a blessing,” she said. She lowered her voice at the end as she glanced over at Justice. She only quickly glance over as she didn't need to be accused of ogling. She was sure she would never hear the end of it from that brat.

Although, she knew she'd need to thank her as well for getting Satan to leave. She had to thank Freddie and Reese too as it seemed they were recruited to help find her. She focused on keeping eye contact with Kinera and not looking any lower. Silvia hoped her clothing would fit the smaller woman decently if anything. Silvia was a whole foot taller than her. Also, Silvia knew she was more muscular and athletic than most women in general. She was sure Kinera would appreciate any type of clothing right now, even if it didn't fit her very well.

Korgan laid upon the infirmary bed. Wounds and fatigue gnawed at his aching body. His mind drifted, put to ease by Tempeste’s healing hands. A memory echoed within the Outrider. Of another life, another time, another place. Stirred by the whims of a dreaming mind.

It was cold that morning in Emperia, like most days there. Glaciers towered over ice cold waters, pale and blue, like great cliffs carved of ice and snow. A shape emerged from beneath a glacial tunnel. 50-feet long, with a curved bow and stern. A Kymeran longboat, bearing the white and green stripes of the Novax royal clan on its sail. A chant of grunts came as the sailors aboard rowed their oars. They moved as one, with the oars pushing across the waters like the fins of a great sea beast.

ImageTwo figures led the rowing near the bow. One was a man, his face carved by more scars than skin, with a hulking body and mane to rival lions. The other was a boy. His brows knit above gleaming blue eyes. His pudgy face scrunched with gritted teeth as he rowed, and rowed, and rowed. King Leonar Novax and his son, Garland Novax.

Leonar looked at the boy and smirked. His thick hands moved the oars with barely a thought or effort. "You seem excited, Boy!" he noted, his voice a rumbling thunder that was audible even amidst the grunts of his men. "Ready to meet the love of your life?"

Garland's straining face twisted into a grin. "I was born ready, Father!" He looked ahead, the distant towers and spires of Emperia reflected upon his pale blue eyes. "This place is so pretty. I bet she's really pretty too. I bet she's got a long head of silver and- and…" He looked up, his brows strained to recall the proper phrasing. "Huuuuuge tracts of land!"

Leonar choked. And did a double take. "HAHAHA, Now where did you hear that, boy?!" Garland shrugged, his big blue eyes free of guilt. "That's what the men always say about Aunt Brigitte!"

"..." Leonar looked over his shoulder. Towards his crew, who all looked away and cleared their throats. He scoffed and shook his head with a chuckle. "Well. That's a phrase that should stay between men." The Kymeran King pointed at Garland. "So don't say that in front of the Emperians, aye?" The sailors snickered and stifled their laughter.

Garland gave a slow nod. "Sure, Father."

Across the frozen seas, through the glacial valley, into the shadows of Emperia's great mountains. The Novax clan left their ship and walked upon the snow. Heavy, fur-collared coats kept the Kymerans warm as they traversed the path to the castle. Garland's eyes flicked left and right with wonder as he took in the sights. Of the villages carved into the mountainside. Of the great white bats, flying high into the peaks. The north wind swept over the clan, and they dug their feet and held their coats tight, their noses and cheeks reddened by the cold.

Eventually, the clan came close to the palace. Garland's heart beat like a drum within his chest. He clenched his fists, fixed his collar, and stood as tall and straight as he could.

On the stairs, up to the palace… were no guards. In their stead, was a tiny hooded figure. Just a singular little kid, around six, or seven years old. Long red sleeves and black shorts poked out of the flapping brown fabric, and a mop of shaggy blonde hair. Their arms were folded and their stance wide and brave. With a big, inhale of air, they opened their mouth and commanded -

"Which of you comes for the Princess's hand in marriage?! Step forth!!"

The sailors murmured, confusion etched upon their faces. King Leonar stroked his beard, his eyes darted towards Garland… who stepped forth, chest puffed out and fist pumped. "That'll be me, Prince Garland Novax!" He shook his fist and shouted, "Who are you supposed to be, pipsqueak?!"

The child's chest puffed to match his. "A messenger!" They hollered back. An accusing finger shot up and pointed right at him. "The Princess isn't going to marry you! Give up, and return to your ships before I'm forced to - to use force!"

Garland stepped forward, his face scrunched up like an overfilled dumpling. "That's a lie! You're a lying liar!" He plodded up the steps, alone, while the rest of his clan watched. "And you're not gonna stop me!"

They shook their heads furiously. "Nu-uh! The Princess can't marry you, because she's… already in love!"

Garland stopped in his tracks. His eyes wide, and his jaw dropped. "With whom?! I'LL FIGHT HIM!"

The child threw back their hood, to reveal a little boy with shining green eyes and scruffy blonde hair. Image

"With ME!" He shouted, and drew a dagger.

Garland regretted his words. He held up his hands. "WHOA hey! Maybe we can talk this out…?" He glanced over his shoulder, towards his Father. Whose lips had straightened with disappointment.

"OKAY maybe not!" Garland lunged forth, his arms outstretched into a tackle.

"AAAH!" The boy stumbled back, shocked that he was actually coming at him when he was wielding a knife. He ducked under the much bigger kid and stabbed out with the knife as he wheeled back, perhaps more freaked out by the dagger than his opponent. "I'll slash you!! Give up now!"

”YOU give up!” Garland yowled. He dodged, then ducked, and closed their distance, moving fast despite his size. ”We Kymerans aren’t afraid of anything!” He bent low, pulled back his fist, and launched it straight towards the boy’s face. ”HIYAAAAA!”

Crunch. Right in the nose. The kid's backside smacked onto the stairs, blood flinging from his face. Tears sprang up and his lips wobbled, revealing a baby tooth that had just fallen free. For a moment it looked like he'd just sit there and bawl. But he snatched the dagger back up. "I mean it now! LEAVE HER ALONE!" He screamed, and bolted towards him with both hands on the dagger's hilt, no hesitation -

"Euphemia!"

A lady's voice rang from the palace. It bounced around the mountains and ice, tinkling like a bell. The boy skidded to a jerky halt, just a foot away from nicking Garland. He froze, like a rabbit in the sights of a predator.

"Euphemiaaaaa!" The voice called again. The boy's hand shook. His head grew red until it matched the blood dripping from his nose. He ducked his head down and grit his teeth.

"PRINCESS EUPHEMIA ISADORA APOLLINE REGANA, come here and get dressed for Kymera's arrival this instant!"

"COMING, MOTHER!" The boy suddenly snapped.

She did not meet Garland's gaze, absolutely mortified. The dagger clattered on the ground and she turned on her heels to flee.

”Eu...phemia?” Garland was frozen still. His hot blood retreated against the spine-chilling feel of realisation. Princess Euphemia?” His bright blue eyes followed the fleeing boy-... girl. Her blonde hair was spiky, mess, and nothing like a Princess. And yet it matched her spirit. Untamed and fearless and… very…

Garland brought his fingers to his cheeks. They were burning pink. Leonar approached his son and patted his shoulder, the King’s gigantic hand shaking Garland with even the lightest touch. “HA! She’s a fiery one, EH Boy?!” He noted. “Shame about the tooth. Hope she doesn’t hold that against you.”

Garland’s pupils shrunk. The image of his fist flattening her face repeated over, and over, and over, and over again in his head. ”OH FU-”

"I apologize for our daughter's behaviour, King Leonar."

Princess Euphemia had been stuffed into a silver and blue gown, her scruffy hair - which must have been cut herself, by the sound of her mother's shrieks, was straightened and crowned by a crystal tiara. A tissue was stuffed into her nose. Many harsh and apologetic words were exchanged over her head. Shameful. Embarrassment. Uncivil. Barbaric. Punishment. She gripped her skirts and kept her head down.

Eventually her mother's chastising came to an end, and she was pushed forward. "Euphemia, what would you like to say to the Prince?"

Euphemia glanced up. What she really wanted to say would only add to her daunting punishment. She sucked it in and ducked into a curtsy.

"I'm… sorry," she forced out with utter defeat.

"For what?"

"For not wanting to marry you."

"Euphemia-"

"For trying to kill you."

"EUPHEMIA!"

Garland rubbed the back of his head. He flashed a sheepish grin. ”That’s okay. I’m sorry too...” He raised a finger to her nose and bopped it. "Ow!" His grin turned wide and unapologetic. ”...For giving you that witch nose!”

An unimpressed King Leonar tapped the back of Garland’s head.

”Oof!”

King Leonar forced a smile as he looked towards the Queen. ”I apologise. My Boy doesn’t know how to treat a lady. Savage rascal that he is.” He gestured to the side. ”Shall we discuss the terms of the arrangement? I’ve brought some fine Angalais sugar to have with your tea.”

The two parents wandered off, leaving behind Garland and Euphemia with each other. The Prince nursed his throbbing head while peeking at Euphemia from head to toe. She covered her crooked nose and averted her eyes in shame. His lips pursed, and his eyes fell as he mused, ”You know, I think you were cuter as a boy…”

Euphemia prickled and flushed red. "If we do get married, I'm going to poison you."

Jai happily joined Ryder in a drink, lifting the goblet in a toast with him. He took an elegant sip, watching Ryder with an impressed look as the advisor sculled the whole glass. If felt nice to be back here, toasting to a time when he would sneak bottles from Ivelda's cellars in the dead of night into their quarters and share them with whoever wouldn't go squealing to the Queen the next morning. Back when they weren't all separated by the different paths their servitude led them.

His devilish eyes turned wide at Ryder's chastising. "I know she's a person," he retorted with an offended gasp. His glass tilted with his head, and his smirk returned, accompanied by a shrug. "... And I know she's fragile. That's why I like her..." His train of thought switched track and he squinted over at Ryder in suspicion. "Don't you get all gushy about my emotions. If I really wanted to be loved, I'd make like you and get a dog."

He smirked over at the lycan siblings and flicked Edith another candy for the joke at their expense. Then he sighed and settled back onto the couch.

"You just don't get it," he breathed, watching the wine swirl around the glass and leave pale stains. "You haven't had someone lose sleep over the memory of you." He laughed as he took another sip. "Ha, or you'd be oblivious."

He set his empty glass down and swung his feet over, sitting up on the couch. "It's worth the risk of being bitten. Karma hasn't caught me yet! Anyway, you want to lecture ME about my relations? Does this 'person' status only apply to pretty girls?" His eyelashes batted innocently as he poured himself another glass. "Korgan is a living, breathing.. pig.. man! And Benedicto has thoughts, and emotions, a soul... you've got to be more sensitive! .. To the fragility of the human ego."

He folded his leg as he leaned back, eyes shut and smiling smugly at his own wit. When he reopened his eyes, his brow was furrowed in concern. "Seriously, the guys all hate your guts. Are you fine with that? Wait, don't answer. "A lion doesn't concern himself with the opinion of sheep", is that right?" He raised a brow, expecting something similarly supercilious.

I'm her favorite.

Her words stuck to him as he hid a skip in his step, following after her every footstep with a chest that swelled with pride. His mother, the Queen, chose him among her many followers. He wished, he hoped but he was never sure. Even as her only son, he was unseen and unheard of, a well-kept secret swept under the rug... but no more.

He patted his chest to stop his heart from exploding with excitement, rays of light dancing through his hair and caressing his face. He spared a moment to turn around and look up at the vast sky through the windows of the castle with eyes that twinkled with wonder and a dash of mischief. I'm really... here. He smiled then caught up to the woman he called his mother.

He didn't get to see much of the medical ward as Eike was found. "My Primary Tormentor, Eike. He's very devious and loves his job and causing pain to others. I pretty much raised him myself since his parents died when he was 5, so he's not so much older than you." He recalled his mother's description, the boy of light purple hair and bags under his eyes. "I don't know if you're ready to see what's down in the dungeons yet, so I want to warn you." Cynfael grunted quietly. Ivelda's warnings only stirring up imagination and curiosity. Just his luck that Eike had left the dungeons he was so eager to see...

"Cyn, dearie, why don't you look after Eike's charge real quick in another spare room? This won't take long." He nodded, sealing the door behind them and tracing his finger down the gap. Cynfael turned around and cast his eyes downwards more for this charge, a little girl around his age. With long brown hair, soft rosy cheeks, and big eyes that only got bigger as they set their sights on him. There was also a rat perched on her shoulder she didn't seem to notice. Odd little thing. She was like a doll dressed for a funeral. In the quiet, small room... he could only hear his heart beating away as he rested his hand on the dagger attached to his side. A girl... I've never-

"... Tsuneo?" His eyes flashed in recognition of the name, catching the whisper swiftly. "How did you get out of your book?" He sighed and rubbed the back of his head, the truth much more complicated. "I’m...." Should he lie and play along? He didn't expect anyone else to pick up on his inspiration so quickly. "You must be well read... for a child." The latter slid off his tongue strangely, knowing he was still a child himself. His hand lowered to place a finger on his lips to gesture not to tell a soul.

"Out here... beyond the pages. I’m Cynfael." He bent down on one knee before her, the way a knight would. He looked up at her closely, those brown orbs drawing him in before releasing a smile and lifting her off the ground and into the air. A girl! Cynfael had finally made contact with one, a pretty one. His smile turned into laughter he was unable to contain any longer. It was like he'd discovered the rarest thing in the world! Well... for a pubescent alone in a tower anyway. Then his eyes wandered to her arm, bandaged in an unusual way. Mother did say Eike likes to hurt people. "Would you..." He swallowed, then mustered the courage. "Would you like to be my servant instead?"

Lilou stared at Tsuneo in complete awe and lifted her veil. He even... spoke like Tsuneo, all polite and princely! She mirrored his finger to his lips, tapping her own before nodding in a transfixed state. There was no way she could keep quiet about this under normal circumstances, but - well, there wasn't anyone to tell. He got down on his knee, and Lilou clasped her hands over her heart, her shoulders seizing up with a quiet gasp.

"Cyn... fael?" She repeated after him, with a tilt of her head. Of course, he was on a mission here, with a false identity! It was just like the part in the book when - "Ahh!"

She was swooped off the ground. Lilou's heart shrieked and banged against her chest, being chased around by a swarm of butterflies. Pig squeaked and clung to her dress with his claws and teeth. She dangled up there like a toy. Her initial instinct that she was being abducted gave way as she watched the way he admired her. Her chin tucked in and her cheeks swelled up with pink. This was all very new and a little frightening. She'd only ever experienced these sort of heart tingles safely behind pages, beside her bed light.

"Would you like to be my servant instead?"

"Oh! Umm, ah..." Lilou babbled at his inquiry. Was he... was she being... He was saving her! Her whole body shook as she nodded.

"I would... I would really much prefer that, Cynfael!" She exclaimed, hands balled into fists. She relaxed into his hands, like it had taken all of her energy to expel those words, and glanced in the direction Ivelda had taken her master. "But..." she hesitated, "... Big brother Eike won't like it if I go."

Eike welcomed the dark. Lady Twilight touched his eyes with cool, soothing fingers, and he took off the black veil that had protected him from the sun. Ivelda knew how to roll him right into her hand. Eike watched her lips as she spoke, his eyes well adjusted to the dim light. But his comfort was dragged down by the reminder she was leaving.

His eyes slid away from Ivelda. "I need..." he began. It was an odd question that always made him feel put on the spot. He didn't truly need anything. He could enact his duty with whatever he had. He was fed. He could sleep wherever his body fell. What do you want, should be the question, and the answer to that was right in front of him.

"Seeds from Emelas," he answered. "To experiment. They grow... well... in the dungeon's conditions." The brief thought to take the other thing he 'needed' and embrace her goodbye flickered in his head, not that his dull gaze betrayed it. His brow furrowed as he thought of Ishara, and by extension, the s t r a n g e r she had been left with. Ivelda had trusted the nameless man with the child, but that reassurance didn't stop the annoying feeling gnawing at the back of his head. "... And... wine, please."

He finished his requests with a bow. It didn't occur to him to make an excuse for why he was requesting the beverage.

"If that's... all you required of me..." he spoke in monotone, head still bowed, "The last thing I need is... you," the briefest pause, "To return home safe, Your Majesty."

It was impossible to qualm the immediate eye-roll that was Ryder’s consistent reaction to his best friend, and his response to the man’s retort was no different now. Edith let out a small yelp of surprise as the candy lobbed off the side of her head and clattered to the floor. However, knowing what the item was last time, she instantly fumbled with her hands to find where the candy went, happily plopping it between her lips once she was successful in her hunt. A smile of contentment was on her face as she nommed on the candy, the perfect picture of a happy child. Ryder peered over the rim of his wineglass at her for a moment before flicking his odd eyes to Jai once more, a soft snort escaping him at the man’s continued rant. Once the man had seemed to conclude his tirade, Ryder quirked a brow up at him inquisitively.

”Ah, are you done raving like a loon?” he jabbed, taking another swig of his wine after. He swirled what remained of the substance in the glass, holding it up to peer at the red liquid under the late afternoon rays of the sun. The light glinted and ricocheted a bit throughout the glass, giving a pink aura to it, and he swirled it a bit more to cast the light in different directions within the glass. ”To answer your last question, and in response to your musings, I truly could not care less what anyone thinks of me. Whether they like me or not is their decision, not mine, and I can do little to sway their opinions. I stopped caring about what others thought of me when I realized that most people do not even know what to think of themselves,” he quipped, knocking back the rest of the wine in a quick swig. ”’If you feed your journey upon the opinions of others, you will surely run out of food’. All I need from anyone is either their respect or fear; I do not need their adoration,” he scoffed out, already pouring his third glass of wine. At this point he was already feeling a bit of a buzz from the alcohol, having thrown it back rather quickly and with little food left in his stomach from the morning breakfast.

”As for your regards to Sir Piggly and Lord Holier-than-thou,” he motioned to Jai, a small hiccup escaping him, and he took another sip. ”Our local Sow is far too much of a dimwit to accomplish much at all, and he frequently finds himself in trouble due to his own miscreant behavior. When it comes to our lovely residential Preacher, I am fairly certain the slubberdegullion convinced his psychotic minions to shove a rather long stick up his arse. The man is quite the ult-ultracrepi-id-dididarian,” he finished on a flourish, his arm pointing in Jai’s direction as he slurred the final word, squinting at his friend. ”The only person whose opinion really matters to me is our Queen’s. She is all that I need,” he concluded, his voice almost robotic as he recanted the views that were consistently drilled into them.

Knocking back the rest of his glass, he moved and poured another, but this time went a bit more slowly while drinking it. As he moved, he withdrew a small package of rolled tobacco smokes from the drawer that had held the glasses, along with a small matchbox, and flicked one into his mouth, easily lighting it with a flourish. Offering one to Jai, he returned the items to the drawer and leaned back in the chair with a contemplative look on his face. ”Aside from that, I am not foolish enough to allow you to turn this conversation onto me. I know your ways; you think you can sway the topic so easily, but you forget that I learned how to do so alongside you, dear brother.” Ryder smirked a bit, patting Edith on the head as she scampered over to show him her doll. ”We were discussing you and your ability to so easily move from person to person when it comes to relationships. ‘Tis not healthy - for you or for the others involved.” His voice was insistent, despite the slight slur to his words, and his worries were genuine in his inflection. It was clear that he was concerned for the man that he considered to be a brother when no other family existed to him, and despite his lecturing ways, he only wished for the best for him. After a moment he sighed and relented, leaning back in his seat to puff on his smoke. "You are a grown man, though, and capable of making your own decisions. I simply wish that they were better ones," he sighed out, unable to keep himself from jabbing at his friend a bit.

"I WAS," she said with a little shiver in her voice.

She rose from the waters, the cool air prickling her skin and droplets following her curves as they trailed down her body. Justice flipped back her hair, the blue straightened and untangled in that one swift movement. She tilted her head and gave an ear a good pat, trying to encourage the last bits of water out.

As Kinera sunk and spluttered, Justice stood as proud as a lion but as bare as a Sphynx. "It's not her fault, it's HER fault." Her eyes rolled in the direction of the growing pipsqueak. "We came here to relax. RELAX. Could you NOT choose a more opportune time to be a FREAK?" She yelled then pulled the skin under her eyes down. "Everyone's testing me." She piped, releasing her face to snap back into shape.

"Are you okay, Ishara?" Justice tossed back the question, poking the girl's scratched-up cheek. "You have a pale complexion like me..." Her hand fell to rest in the crook of her hip. "Don't ruin it. You know how many people wish they looked like me?" A grin spread across her face as she pointed at herself.

Motioning Ishara to come closer, she whispered in her ear. "My neighbor Elise spent a fortune and it didn't come c l o s e! Think she did it for a boy... Just saaad." Justice giggled and continued to giggle as she reeled back. That story always got her good but her parents said she shouldn't tell.

Justice almost forgot about the frog but she couldn't... Where one princess was, the other princess would follow closely behind. Annoyingly inseparable. "Oh, yeah, what's her problem?" Justice jabbed a thumb where the croaks sounded from.

ImageTovenaar resumed fae size, spread his wings, and flew as the riverside became popular. He slowed down a few beats for Zuri, flying around her in a heart shape before speeding off once again.

His head popped through the leaves and twigs to find Princess Reese, as she'd like to be called, and Nut hanging out her pocket.

"Nut." He called out but as quiet as a mouse. "The princesses might catch a cold. I could really use your help." He explained, her magic more apt for the water. Tovenaar carved out a decent archway in the bush with his arm for her to fly through.

ImageA disgruntled Nut slipped her legs from Reese's pocket and shook her curled wings out before shooting Tovenaar a flat look from behind her hand mirror.

"Why? They're not even my Princesses," she replied, placing her cheek in her palm. Then she yawned, like the mere mention of assisting had exhausted her.

"Hmmm, well it all happened so fast! I remember feeling all that magical energy from the portal. I don't know if that's what triggered my own magic, but before I could even move toward the portal, I just took off like a bullet! It was like an adrenaline rush."

Sibylla considered Meridian's words carefully. She hadn't felt the same adrenaline rush. Instead, a surge of anxiety had coursed through her, propelling her forward into a fit of crying. During the time, she had sensed something within her however. Had it been her magic bubbling to the surface? Was it simply strong sensations or emotions that drove the magic? Silvia's power had a similar trigger after all, her size changing with anger or embarrassment. Sibylla frowned. If her magic did manifest, what would it even be?

"Man, this place really does give off that typical fairy tale vibe. It's interesting how we are really a part of it. Sibylla, I do hope we manage to get the guys back. Is there anyone you're worried about? If I recall you got along well with Naeem and Ruka. Then again, their kingdoms border yours right?"

Her brows knit together as she remembered their faces, an ache in her chest that was becoming all too familiar.

"Yeah, they were really close," Sibylla began but as she thought about them, tears began to well up in her eyes. She scowled and rubbed at her eyes, abashed at her lack of self control lately. Looking up at Meridian, she tried to give her a bright smile, though it came out as a little forced. "Ah, maybe I should uh, should re- no, wait, Rukall more about them when I'm not like super distracted."

I'm already emotional, Sibylla reasoned, trying not to berate herself for crying so much within the past few days.

"I'm worried about all the princes honestly," Sibylla confessed, looking anxious again. She exhaled loudly, feeling agitated at her past remarks that they could all wait until the end of the semester. "I mean they're all alive which is great but like, I wanna do more for them, you know? I mean who knows what Ivelda did to them all these years and I just, I feel kind of helpless. I don't like all this uncertainty. Especially since I don't even have or know what my powers are yet."

Sibylla shook her head and pressed her palm to her forehead, "Maybe we should go see if Silvia's cooled down. I mean, if we can even find her. On the way, you can tell me how you feel about this? I'm not the only anxious one... right?"

Tempeste severed the connection between her and Korgan before her thoughts could intrude. Her magenta eyes watered like a glass filled to the brim waiting to spill. Her hands fell to her lap as she gripped the hem of her clothes and hung her head low. A dream, should it be sweet, is a wish your heart makes. He hadn't forgotten, no, not completely of his life before her.

She whipped her head around to eye the room that contained Ivelda, the would-be tears stinging. If she were to discover this... Her lips quivered but stayed pressed and sealed, only looking away when a few nurses walked past. Her palms were red from the nails digging in, holding onto the cloth between as tightly as she held onto his dream. There was hope and she didn't want to let go.

The healer cleared her throat and rubbed her eyes on a clean section of her sleeve. The material was harsh but did its job. She won't. Her arm fell and she looked over the sleeping beastly form of Prince Garland with a new face. One of blonde hair, and blue eyes, ready to set sail and take on the world.

Tempeste prepared a basin of warm water, soaked a soft cloth, and twisted it. She looked over Roderick, who was equally covered in muck and in need of a wash. I wonder, what do you dream of? But her thoughts on that subject ended there, carefully wiping the sweat from Korgan's forehead and the grime from his jaw.

"You've got grit. Don't ever lose it."
You too, your highness.

Ivelda Evers
Code- #003300

Ivelda took note of the things Eike needed of her. Pretty normal. Emelas was a fascinating place, so unique compared to the other places in Rhindeval. She had visited numerous times prior to taking over. Even though it was common knowledge that the previous rulers didn't like Emperia's, it didn't stop Ivelda from traveling there. She was fascinated by the practices happening there. It was actually the first kingdom she took control of, well, after trying to invade Traumet first.

"You always ask for so little, Eike, after all you do for me. I really appreciate all you've done. I have taken extra precaution for this trip. I believe you saw him just now. Lady Shannon gave Cyn to me for extra protection. It's a darn shame you haven't met Lady Shannon yet. Both of you have similar interests. But she's so busy overseeing Angalais that she hardly has time to visit. I'll see if she has anything for you this time around. I recall you enjoyed the last torture devise she came up with."

Aurora Givens~Meridian O'Donohue~Lilith Evers
#5477B9~#46935C~#C71585

Aurora listened Sia talked about the other girls again. She didn't fully agree with what she said, but felt it was best to keep silent. She didn't know why, but her gut feeling told her they all would have to learn how to get along in order to save all the kingdoms. She didn't know how they would accomplish that, but surely that meant the more help they had, the better. So lost in her own thoughts, she didn't even pay attention to when Aura started talking about their lessons.

Iris saw Aurora wasn't paying attention. Looks like Aurora still got stuck in her own head. Even as a little girl, Aurora was easily distracted. Iris was glad that Aura didn't plan on having the girls cooped up in the library all of the time. Iris herself could never stay in one place for long. After her faerie colleague finished talking, Artemisia asked to focus on the princes.

"So, what exactly do you need me to do? I can't project their images to you, not without my queen's help."

"I'm worried about all the princes honestly. I mean they're all alive which is great but like, I wanna do more for them, you know? I mean who knows what Ivelda did to them all these years and I just, I feel kind of helpless. I don't like all this uncertainty. Especially since I don't even have or know what my powers are yet."

"We'll get them back, Sibylla. The idea of what Ivelda has done to each of them . . . . it just ticks me off!" Meridian said, anger evident in her voice.

Granted she had no idea how they would get them back, but she was determined to not only save all of the boys, but her kingdom as well. She lost so much already, they all have, she wasn't bound to let Ivelda get away with the things she had done. Her emotions began churning, but she burried them when Sibylla spoke up again, this time to see if Silvia had calmed down.

"Yeah I sure hope she's calmed down. I need to apologize to her. And what exactly are you anxious about?"

They headed outside but before Meridian could do anything else, all of her buried emotions came out, and caused her pendant to react. Suddenly Meridian took off flying in an instant, she screamed, which could be heard by anyone outside in the vicinity. Eowyn and Lilith heard her. The queen had just gotten the last of the princesses' measurements when she heard Meridian's scream. Before she and Lilith could go look for her, the green haired princess was flying right towards them. Instinctively, Eowyn raised her hand, freezing the poor woman in place. Carefully, Eowyn placed her down and she dropped to her knees again. Lilith was by her side in seconds.

"Meridian, are you okay?"

Meridian held up her hand, indicating she needed a few minutes to calm down.

When she did catch her breath, she managed to say, "That's . . . the 2nd time this has happened . . . . I am not feeling too great at all . . . . "

Fern had raced to keep up with the princess and turned to her queen.

"I apologize your majesty. She just took off and I couldn't keep up."

Eowyn smiled, "It's fine Fern. Looks like we got a flyer on our hands though. Hmmm, I wonder if any of the girls' powers has appeared."

Turning back to the faerie queen, Lilith was quick to answer her, "The only other ones I know for sure are Aurora and Artemisia. Aurora is a dreamwalker and Artemisia can control plants."

Eowyn nodded.

"I'll be sure to ask the other princesses if they've felt their powers come forth yet."

Remember that Silvia's power had appeared, Meridian almost spilled the beans but remembered that her friend had asked her not to say anything.

Freddie looked between Reese, Kinera, Silvia, and Justice. Her face was entirely placid amidst the former two’s flustered reactions, staring straight through Justice’s proud display with a slack-jawed ‘o’ on her lips.

"You have a pale complexion like me… "Don't ruin it. You know how many people wish they looked like me?"

Freddie’s eyes lit up, her hands clasped underneath her chin. ”Oh… you think… I’m pretty?” She glanced aside and tapped her fingers. ”I never really… put much stock in my looks…”

Freddie blinked as Justice told her story. She didn’t laugh or smile, judge or condemn. She merely nodded along. She then leaned close and whispered to Justice in return, ”Back in highschool, I was… fat. Like… really… chubby. A certified chonker.” She stepped back and made a circular gesture around her torso for emphasis. Still, Freddie couldn’t help but be curious. ”You’ve never had a crush… on a boy, Luce…?” She tilted her head, and wondered. ”...Or a girl?”

Freddie's eyes glanced from Kinera, to Reese, then back at Justice. And back to Kinera. ”Cause Reese knew this girl called Vera..."

Zuri shrunk as Tovenaar flew around her. Her eyes were wide, blue, and glossy. The very air seemed to glitter with his fairy dust. She looked up, quivering, the pink on her cheeks warming her entire body. Her wings flapped and flapped and flapped, slow and weightless, as she floated after him, drawn by his… his... Effortless coolness!” Image

”Tovenaaar!... zWaiiiiiiiiit...” She meowed, reaching out with tiny, grabby hands.

Zuri soon saw him talking with Nut. Nut had barely finished yawning, when the very air shook, and Zuri appeared between them, her puffed-up, furiously blushing cheeks dangerously close to Tovenaar. ”FORGET HER, I CAN ZHELP YOU!” She backed away and slapped her hands over her mouth instantly. Her brows knit together, and she forced her eyes into an annoyed glare to hide her embarrassment.

”E-Eowyn and Lilth zmust be waiting for them. We- we can’t rely on zSnooze-Nut over here!” Zuri folded her arms with a huff and pouted away from Tovenaar. ”I’ll get some ztowels!” Without missing a beat, Zuri had zipped off again, leaving a heart-shaped hole in the bushes next to Tovenaar.

Before Freddie could continue, a loud scream shook her stiff and sent a chill down her spine. She looked around, but quickly realised that voice didn't belong to anyone present there. "What... was that..." She looked towards Justice, then Reese, her face paler than usual. "We should get back soon..."

"HELLO ZGIRLS!"

A fluffy white bathrobe was plopped over Justice. When Freddie looked up, Zuri was already on the way to Silvia and Kinera, another, bathrobe dangling from her tiny paws. "Come, come, zcome!" She beckoned them, dropping the bathrobe on Kinera. She put her hands on her hips and shook her head. "Zcome before you catch your zdeath!"

Kinera Laibon:: Dark Orchid

Kinera’s focus leapt between the conversating Freddie and Justice— Luce—, Silvia and herself, and now the new arrival of Zuri and, by the Gods, bathrobes. Thank. Goodness.

And then Freddie began describing parts of Reese’s past that Kinera had NO interest in hearing while in such a state! Because “Maybe!!! Maybe we don’t, uh, talk about that yet? Unless, perhaps, Reese wants to, yes?” Or before Justice had any more ammo to utilize in her pistol like mouth.

And then the eerie scream of Meridian.

Kinera had had enough, in terms of embarrassing circumstances, new and unusual secrets, and facts being exposed, and now this. That bathrobe probably wept, with how swiftly Kinera wrapped herself up in it.
And then, like a rocket, she was off. Face set in a grimly determined glare as she burst back onto the scene of the … House…? Proper.

She arrived in a storm of crashing branches, rustling leaves, and a hoarse cry of, “WHAT HAPPENED?!

Only to come to an abrupt halt at the sight of Meri, Lilith, and Eowyn all stood together. Kinera’s brows knit up, furrowed and concerted. Her lips pinched, and the already ruddy-dark-brown blush on her cheeks managed to grow even more flushed. Silently, she straightened up, began picking leaves out of her hair and the robe around her, and cleared her throat.
I ah— Haha— Heard a scream and decided that expediency was necessary! … The others are… At the river. Justice and I were… Uh… Cleaning up.
She didn’t mention, however, what all else had happened in that span of time. Choosing instead to save herself any further embarrassment. She did, however, proceed to then begin to make her way back inside.
Please excuse me! And pretend I definitely didn’t, uh, arrive like this? Thank you!

Yup, there we go! All settled! Everything is juuuust fine! Time to go back inside and pretend that the river didn’t exist and that nothing had happened at all, nope!
Hopefully the three other women here didn’t have something to say, or ask!

Nut paused mid-yawn, her hand held over her lips. Her eyes slid to Zuri's screeching. I barely spoke to him for a minute... she lamented in thought as Zuri fled, then looked back at her hand mirror with a sigh. Ahh, this always happens.. It's because I'm so beautiful. What a lonely existence.

Reese's fists balled and her nose poked over her knees. Her ears pricked as she heard the name, 'Vera'. Her face burned and she tucked into the tiniest space she could inhabit, about to will herself into popping out of existence. Why are you blabbering about that, Freddie?! she internally screamed, That isn't any of their business to know from you!!!!

Meridian's scream was horrible, sure, but for Reese it was like being saved by the bell. She deflated as Freddie was distracted. Normally, it was safe to trust her oblivious best friend with her secrets. Because normally, the only person she had to tell was her Dad. This was dangerous.

"Zcome before you catch your zdeath!"

"Don't bother." A monotonous voice called over.

Nut snapped her fingers, and Silvia, Kinera and Justice felt a sudden wave of warmth as all the water on their skin went PHWOOF, evaporating into a cloud of steam that dissipated in an instant. Nut perched atop Reese's shrub, admiring her nails. She shot Zuri a flat look. "Go on then, Eowyn and Lilith are waiting for them." A petty thought sprang to mind. "Tovenaar, aren't you going to praise me? That was super strenuous for me."

Reese stood up from behind the bush, a bit wobbly, her legs had fallen asleep. "W-Well, if Silvia's fine, I'm going back," she announced, but the angry tremble just couldn't be contained and she whipped around with an accusing finger pointed right at Freddie, the fire in her eyes competing with her flaming cheeks, "FREDDIE! My life isn't a gossip column!! SHUT UP!" It re-occurred to her that the other women were in her sights again as well as Freddie and "AH!" She slapped both hands over her face and sped off into the woods.

Reese panted and dragged herself the few last steps out of the woods and into the clearing, looking up at the little party gathered. "Oh cool. Meridian, you're... ok..."

Reese fell onto the ground with her face buried in her arms, exhaustion and (mostly) mortification finally claiming her heart and making an attempt on her life. "Bwaaaaghhh..." she raised a shaking finger, "I came... as fast... as I could..." she lied about the reason behind her current state, and curled into a ball on the ground.

ImageThere was a scene in the book much like this, Tsuneo holding a cat he had caught red-handed trying to nick the treats from his pocket. But Cynfael had different intentions and a much different twinkle in his eyes as he continued to lift the smaller girl above. "Have you already forgotten who I am?" he asked, not deterred in the least. He was not Tsuneo, he'd never set a foot on earthen ground until today... However, the biggest lie was the one he told himself and that lie gave him power. Cynfael smirked, believing a son of Ivelda to be unstoppable. Did she not say, that he was her favorite?

"I'll be traveling alongside her majesty, Queen Ivelda." He began, bringing his arms down and its captive, her tip toes touching the floor until he released. "I can't say how long the journey will be." Cynfael paced the room as he gathered his thoughts, his strides long and his footsteps light. He then stopped by a window to lean on its sill, a touch of home as his gaze drifted shortly after. "But I will prove myself to her, and to the world." He declared, sitting down cross-legged and inhaling deeply. Every fiber of his being was racing to make it happen. Patience, he needed to be patient.

He pulled out his dagger and made shapes on the wall with the light reflecting off its blade and the shadow of his hands. "When I return, I'll ask for you." He smiled as he made a cat, then a princess. "Sir Eike, of what little I know of him, won't disobey the Queen." Cynfael's hands stilled, preserving the shadow princess. His plan didn't make for a bad story now, did it? He thought it over, and what Tsuneo would do.

"Here I am planning our future..." He chuckled, turning to her realizing what he had missed. "When I don't even know your name."

Tyann Rebal :: #F47206

It took all that the Beast-Master had in his reserve of self control to not snap at Ari. The concern was touching, yes, but by the grace of Her Majesty!!! It wasn’t…

He sighed. He sighed and thought and mulled it over, before his hands came out and gently took Ari by the shoulders. “I'll tell you what. I’ll keep the chest in my office, and I’ll take a short leave for the day, if you can keep this quiet from Her Majesty, AND!!! … Bring that woman, the head-nurse…? The one that The Healer relentlessly flirts with. I want to talk to her. And you. Together.

He nodded, not really waiting for much of a response, before turning on his heels and striding away. Chest in hands, spine straight, and temples throbbing. He nudged his office door open, plopped his princ—

Nearly screamed as another blinding headache throbbed against his skull again; blink away the white spots. There was something… Different, about this pang of pain. More— Robust?
It didn’t matter in the end, as Tyann sat behind his ‘desk’, let his eyes glaze over, and rather swiftly— even with his request for Ari and, what was her name…? Tempeste! Tempeste clear in his mind, he slipped into unconsciousness all the same.

And then…

The dark took him first; murky and inconsequential as dreams and sleep always have been. Tyann’s mind wandered for a minute, flashes of color and swirls of light and dark; sparks of sound that flickered at the edge of awareness… Then, without warning, light exploded across the world around him.

Tyann was only partially aware that he was dreaming, and as the ground shifted beneath his feet like a carpet sliding away, the awareness that this was all a dream faded quickly. The sky pulled as if stretched by the claws of Inu’Tegeru, the crow. And as if called by the notion, a murder of prismatic, iridescent crows exploded across the sky. Tyann’s maskless face stared upward, gasping in shock as his heart thundered away in his chest. Ripples of light and rainbows pulsed through the sky in time with his heart, and as his bare hand reached for the heavens… He found himself reaching forward to gently stroke the haunch of some massive equine. The horse snorted at him, and a whispered warbling sound echoed in his thoughts. He laughed; pressing his masked face gently against the haunch of the creature.

He turned then; eyes locking on a girl who was taller than him, with hair that, “Always looks like the Crow’s feathers! Fuckin’ amazin’ to me. You’re just like him! So fuckin’ smart an’ cool an’—” A hand clamped over his shoulder, a tall guardsmen, who wore a mask in the shape of smiling dog, laughed at him. “Little Prince, please! Delay the curses, my father was a sailor before, and even he had less of a tongue!” The guardsmen laughed ever harder at the growl that Tyann produced.

SilviaShe was looking down at her hands as she walked. She was holding a wolf’s runt. She had been taking care of it back home, but she thought RueTyann would be able to care for it better. Her mother wasn’t exactly happy about her keeping it. Queen Shyama believed only the strong survived. She finally looked up to meet Rue’sTyann’s gaze when she sensed she was close to him and his guard.

“Hello Rue,” she replied, a huge smile gracing her lips. The name echoed in the air, like a crackle of thunder. She glanced down at the white wolf once more. Her face grew warm as she felt nervous. Fire burst from it, iridescent. She hoped she didn’t offend him by offering him an animal some would consider weak. SilviaShe— The girl— let out a small breath before looking back up to meet Rue’sTyann’s— The fox’s gaze.

“Would you want this pup? It’s the runt...so I can understand if you don’t...I thought you could take better care of it than me, which is why I brought it. Father likely brought better animals you’d want to care for though…” she said, rambling slightly. She glanced down nervously once more at the pup who was sleeping peacefully.

R— Tyann— Rue’s??? Face was split into a mad-man’s grin under the mask, eyes dancing with vibrant violets, greens, and golds, through the mesh that kept his eyes otherwise hidden. The laughter that echoed through the dream was both young, and old. His voice was at once raspy and clear. “Night-Hair, you know damn well that I love all of them! Runt or not! I see no reason why not! What do you think offff… Oorhund! It sounds like—
He cut his words off, mouth still moving as her face revealed a plane like a kaleidoscope, depthless and yet infinitely stretching inward.

He was clearly waiting for her to say something now.

The dream slid, like someone splashed water on time and space, and revealed it all to be watercolors. Then there was—

“Rue! Run!” yelled Silviathe girl? This was seconds before she jumped off her horse to tackle the monster guard. They both hit the ground and rolled around until Silvia’sHer?! life was in danger now. Her guard had the dagger he was preparing to attack Rue with at her throat. SilviaShe was using all her strength to push his arm back to prevent the blade from sinking in. She was pinned down, so it was hard for her to gain leverage. She could fight, but she didn’t like to. Her dislike for it was a handicap in a fight. Her eyesattention went to Rue to make sure he was safe and far away at least.

“You’re too weak to rule,” hissed the guard.

The dream again tried to slide, but not before RueTyannRue? Tyann. Rue?! Tyann?!
Not before the fox-mask-faced boy in the dream could scream a horrible scream, a scream like a rabbit caught in a trap. A scream like a bird cut on the wing, a scream like no scream he would scream again for years to come, and go, and come—
The horse moved. Hooves launched forward, faster, harder than a shotgun— what was a shotgun— and the dream burst into color and smeared light again.

He was talking, cackling and laughing with her?! as the ride again, on the backs of horses once more— Twisted thoughts were polluting the dream now, facts of the memory twisted into falsehoods. Was she older now? Why was she wearing such strange clothing? She smelled different, how could he smell in a dream? She looked different, but why? What was wrong? The ground slid, and the dream gave him no time to wonder, taking the lucidity away as—

“Let’s go swimming,” said the girl, excitement lacing her voice. She grabbed his hand. Her hand grew as she grew up in front of his eyes. She was no longer a little girl, but the woman she was now. Her clothing had changed as well. She no longer wore children’s clothing. She was now in a red bikini that matched her ruby. She looked down at him as they walked towards the sea. The ruby that hung from her choker shone as the sunlight hit it. It shone as if it was its own sun and blocked out her face.
