Cynfael O'Donohue

The Secret Prince

0 · 560 views · located in Rhindeval

a character in “Fractured Kingdoms”, as played by Valkyrieknight

Description

Image

ROLE:
The Secret Prince, presumed dead or never born.
Son of King Rector and Queen Kerrigan, Younger brother of Meridian O'Donohue of the kingdom of Angalais.

AGE: 13 years young

HEX CODE: #78A489 pumice

ImagePERSONALITY: Please note subject to change
Cynfael takes after his mother, the evil and only one that he knows. He is narcissistic, enjoys the company of women especially becoming pubescent, and is unpredictable like her too.
What sets him different from her is that this is the only version of himself that he knows as he was raised to be an evil son she could call her own, without envy, resentment, or traumatic history to speak of.
He is just a son, finding comfort in following in his mother's footsteps with little comprehension of any other life available to him. He can't even say if he is enjoying his life or not really. It's just his life.

HISTORY: Please note subject to change
Cynfael was raised in the arms of, The Evil Enchantress, Ivelda Evers herself.
Growing up he didn't suspect a thing about his family and identity, his real mother passing away during labor, and his older sibling being banished to Earth. All he had was one mother, one friend and she was his whole world. It wasn't hard as he was kept isolated from everything and everybody in the tallest tower of Lostein. The cage was golden, Cynfael pampered, and yearning for nothing. That was until he became a teenager and started slowly yet carefully exploring the outside, craving a taste of independence. Mother knows best but what she doesn't know, can't hurt her.

ImageImageABILITY:
- Human Shapeshifter

Cynfael can shapeshift into any human form both real and conjured up from pure imagination. While he can appear exactly as another human down to the exact number of hairs on their head, a real form is more time-limited due to how mentally demanding it is with the complexities of mimicking another's existence.

His most used shapeshifting form is an older male in his mid to late 20s, inspired by the protagonist named Tsuneo in his favorite book titled, 'The Immortals' Hell.'

He enjoys this ability immensely, playing pretend, an escape and distraction from the tower, and his growing loneliness that he will strongly deny.

So begins...

Adrian Wells~Ivelda Ever
Codes-#30660C~#003300

The interviews took up most of the day, which didn't surprise Ivelda in the least since the castle, the castle grounds, and some of the businesses connected to the palace were great in number. Still, the queen was patient. Even after the interviews concluded, she wouldn't relax. This was not the time to take it easy. She worked too hard to get herself into this position to let everything fall apart.

Each of her princes reported in their findings. The first to be cleared was the cleaning staff, which Thaddeus had taken care of. Not long after him, Korgon finished with the soldiers. Soon Raiden appeared and brought some news.

”My immortal Queen, there might be one suspicious gardener. He has been sent to the Dungeon for further follow up. I was able to confirm that the water hemlock used, was not from the castle gardens. I don’t know where they got it, but it wasn’t here.”

"Excellent news, Raiden. We'll find out where that Hemlock came from, don't you worry."

It was upon that moment that Adrian appeared and knelt.

"I've already found out, your majesty. I wanted to see if I could find out what that assassin was up to today, so I took one of the scent hounds from your hunting kennel to help me investigate. The man had some fresh hemlock stored in his quarters. I know I am on break, but I'll find out where he got it from. I'll interview the cooking staff again to find out as much as possible about this man.

"You're too good, Adrian. Take your time with this one, I don't want you tiring yourself out."

With that, Adrian nodded and was off. It wasn't long for Benedicto to show up and report his findings.

”Almighty Goddess, I have completed the interrogations. It is my conclusion the stable staff was not aware nor involved in the despicable attempts on your life today.”

"Wonderful Benedicto. Thank you for taking the time to answer my summons. I am very honored to have such loyal subjects." Ivelda replied smiling at those present.

Soon Tyann and Asher returned with their reports. A servant had sent word to Ivelda of Eike's findings. She wasn't going to force the boy to come out from the dungeons this time, but she was glad he still reported in, even if it wasn't in person. After the interviews were done, Ryder came towards her.

”My Queen, now that the interrogations have concluded and we sent all those deemed to be suspicious to the dungeons for further questioning, what is your command?”

Looking at those present, Ivelda addressed them all.

"Thank you everyone for your assistance. To know that all of Rhindeval is safe thanks to your efforts helps ease my own burden. Pretty soon the time will come for me to go on my yearly journey through our fair kingdom. After I return, we shall have a festival to honor your acts today, especially to Lord Ryder and Adrian, for if it wasn't for their acts, I wouldn't be here to address you now. All of you deserve some rest, so all of you are dismissed. Be be vigilant."

With that, everything went back to normal, for the most part.

Two weeks later, news of what happened had spread like wildfire. Even the assassin's final words manage to get out due to a few of the cooking staff being there when it happened. People were very careful to not mention Lilith or the princesses out in the public though, for they knew the queen would get word of it. Indeed, Ivelda had made good her word in sending out more "eyes and ears" out into the kingdoms under her rule. People started vanishing too. Still, people once again regained hope that Lilith or any of the princesses would return. Still they worried how Ivelda could be defeated. Adrian, in his own mission to find out about the assassin, did hear these whispers as his journey took him to the principality of Emolas. He found out that's where the assassin was from, which really shocked him since the people there were some of the loyalists in all of Rhindeval. Well, there were always exceptions. The whispers of Lilith and princesses did plague him too. It almost felt like he knew them, but something was preventing him from grasping it. He knew he had no memory prior to the age of 10, so maybe he heard of such things then. That was impossible though since Ivelda had been in rule long before he was born. He eventually found the source of the hemlock. The assassin had been working alone though. He paid a 'friendly visit' to the man's family though and had that entire family arrested after finding things that proved their treachery, relics of 'false gods' and even sketches of a 'royal family'. The man, who was the assassin's father, apparently had been commissioned to paint this 'royal family' and these were sketches he did for prior to painting them. The couple in these sketches were young looking with two children. Well, one of them was a baby with light hair and the other was a little girl with silvery hair. The image of the little girl struck a chord in him, let he felt he knew her somehow. He had the images burned, although a part of him hurt for some reason, but he couldn't risk these images getting out. Even though this journey wasn't as physically taxing, it was mentally taxing and he was relieved when his self-appointed job was done. He took his time getting back to Lostein to report.

Meanwhile back in Lostein, Ivelda was busy getting ready for her journey. She always made a point to take this journey to make sure her magical hold over each of these kingdoms was firm. She would also inspect the areas she didn't have access to, like the other palaces. It still frustrate her that she didn't conquer all of the kingdoms, especially Traumet and her home kingdom of Emperia, both held ancient magic. As she was getting ready, she received word that Adrian would be arriving back soon. Perfect timing. She had made sure to give her princes double doses of her 'special drink'. Adrian was the last one she needed to give it to. Within the hour, Adrian found himself bowing before the queen in her throne room. He gave his reporting and Ivelda nodded, keeping a neutral look, when inside, she was seething due to people talking about her sister and the princesses again. She thought she had squashed such hopes of Lilith or the princesses returning awhile ago. Still, she knew she couldn't control everything. She could also see Adrian had been affected by what he found. She couldn't risk him finding out the truth so for now she wouldn't give him another assignment for the foreseeable future.

"You're clearly exhausted, Adrian. Come, I will make you my special drink and it can drain you of your weariness."

Adrian nodded and followed without word. After giving him the drink, she sent him home, saying he deserved a break and ordered him to stay home for a time. After that, she decided now was a good time to check on one of her greatest secrets, her adopted son, Cynfael. The boy just happened to be the younger brother of Princess Meridian. Ivelda had lied to Lilith and everyone else about Queen Kerrigan's death. In truth the former queen of Angalais had survived but had been captured. She died giving birth to her son. Ivelda had been there for his birth and claimed him as her own as the queen died without even holding him. Not taking any chances, Ivelda made sure those who knew about the birth killed and eventually had the wet nurse who nursed the baby killed also. She named the boy Cynfael and raised him in a secluded area of Lostein. The boy looked nothing like his parents or Meridian, so no one knew he was the crowne prince of Angalais.

Ivelda, putting on riding garb, went to grab her personal ride, a wyvern named Cinders. Taking flight, she flew the the tower when Cynfael was raised. The tower itself was hidden by strong magic. Only those Ivelda trusted could enter and leave. Making sure Cinders was taken care of, she went inside to find her boy in the middle of his studies.

"Cyn, mother's here!" she announced loudly.

"Despite all my rage,
I am still just a rat in a cage"
- Tommee Profitt

---------------------------------
On the windowsill facing the outside of the tallest tower of Lostein magically hidden by Ivelda, was the secret prince. Short, voluminous, yellow-green locks of hair swayed by gentle winds that caressed a gentle face belonging to a young boy by the name of Cynfael. He batted his long lashes and scrunched up his nose as the book he was reading became a challenge. A bird chirped happily near him, pecking at the crumbs Cynfael left after every morning tea treat. He paid the bird no mind. Every day the bird would visit, and every day the bird would leave as soon as the crumbs had been gobbled. His focused magenta eyes trailed off the page to the bird only when it broke routine by nestling against his arm, its feathers rustling against his sleeve until it was comfortable. “You used to move away whenever I got close.” Cynfael spoke his observations in a soft whisper, the closing of his book that little bit louder.

He turned his body towards it, keeping still his arm that the bird claimed. He crossed his legs and observed the bird some more before extending his other hand in an attempt to pet it. The bird was a bit cautious at first, moving its head away but eventually stilled. His index finger successfully stroked just above the beak and between the eyes. “Now, you trust me.” he whispered once more, withdrawing completely. He leaned his head back against the window frame, took a deep breath in and out, the bird flying up to nestle in his lap as if the book was its nest.

Cynfael swiftly grabbed the bird by the neck and raised it to eye level. The bird struggled in his grasp, its wings flapping erratically as bits of its feathers were blown about. “You don't trust me, now?” His thumb pressed harder against its neck and he started shaking it viciously. “Why not? Do you know how long I've been feeding you? How long I tolerated your smell? Your noise? Your droppings?” With each annoyance ticked off the list, his grasp tightened until the animal fell limp. “Oh... I squeezed too hard.” He plucked a single white feather and sniffed it. “I loved you too much.” Then like a child losing interest in a toy, he released the bird and let it descend down the tower. He reached his arm inside for the inkwell on his desk. He dipped the feather, swirling it around so it was coated in enough blank ink. Cynfael with small bits of fluff in his hair, opened his book to continue where he had left off, and jotted notes on the side of the page.

The door opened. "Cyn, mother's here!" The tip of the feather bent as Cynfael pressed it too hard against the page after losing concentration. The ink smudged a bit of writing but his gaze was taken elsewhere. His magenta hues became glossy as he hopped off the windowsill into the room, dropped his things on his study, and hurriedly ran into the arms of his mother. He hugged her tightly, worried that at any moment she could slip away and leave him forever.

"Oh, Mother. I missed you so much. So, so much." He looked up at her, grinning from ear to ear in admiration. She was not just his mother, but his friend, his role model, and his only everything. Cynfael squeezed her in his embrace but unlike the bird, his mother could handle his love. "Will you be staying longer? I'd love to hear all your stories. Is Angalais still practicing slavery? Have you broken down the magic barrier of Traumet?" Cynfael spoke fast that he was almost tripping over his own tongue, carried away with questions. There was so much he didn't know about the outside world and he was getting more curious by the day. He had turned 13, the age of a teenager and he was hopeful that his mother would finally let him run loose in the kingdoms she had taken. "I'm sorry. You must be tired from your journey." Cynfael apologized, pulling back his excitement, and taking a step back to bow to the Queen eloquently. "Your highness, would you like a drink or food to eat?" His attitude shifted quickly from doting son to the humble servant. He had been practicing his manners to become like the princes in his books and worthy of her blood.

Ivelda genuinely laughed as her son peppered her with questions. He was such an inquisitive boy. She couldn't believe he was already 13. Unlike her other princes, Cyn didn't need to have spells on him for he was born without any memories, so she told him him things not even the other princes knew. Only Cyn didn't know he was the son of deceased Queen Kerrigan and King Rector of Angalais. She would make sure he would never know. One of the reasons why she claimed the boy for herself was to make sure no one would ever figure out who he was. She made a point to see him every week to continue his education. She knew he was thirsting to see the outside world, but there was risk. She knew she had to start thinking about what to do with him soon. For now she would focus on the now.

"Slow down my boy. Let's have a seat and then I'll answer your question. Food and drink sound delightful." she said before sitting down.

After eating, Ivelda finally started talking.

"As for the slavery issue, indeed it is still there. Do you remember why I allowed this to happen? One of my loyal followers, Lady Shannon, wanted to see the kingdom that spurned her to suffer. Plus, I wanted to make one of the kingdoms an example of if others didn't comply with my demands."

Lady Shannon Linder, had earned the nickname "Widow Maker" in Angalais. She originally been born lower class and worked as a maid for one of the noble houses in that kingdom. She fell for one of the sons of that house, but he basically used her before breaking her heart by telling her he was marrying someone else. Bent on revenge, she ended up killing him and his betrothed. She managed to escape, but wanted posters were spread. Unfortunately, she also had the ability to shapeshift and evaded capture, all the while going demented in her lust for power over men, killing several more young men on their wedding nights, as well as their brides to be. Luckily, she made one mistake and was captured. Ivelda heard about her and set her free prior to taking over the kingdoms. She had done similar things for other criminals around the kingdoms because she had already been making plans of takeover. Making Shannon a noble for her loyalty, she left her in charge of Angalais.

"Sweetie, all of the seals are still up. I haven't found a way to get around them. It's a tricky situation."

She thought of reaching it from underneath, but that WAS the Fairy Queen's domain for her kingdom was directly under Traumet. She tried from the air, but the seal was a dome shape. Indeed, the situation with all the seals was tricky.

"Now as for long I am staying, sadly, it won't be too long this time. I must take my yearly trip around our kingdom. I promise I'll tell you all about it when I get back. I will tell you all that has happened since I last saw you though."

So she told him, about what her other princes did (even though Cyn didn't know they were princes), to those who still apposed her, and even the attempts on her life.

"Listen carefully, my son. What I am about to tell you know is very important. I know you are 13 and you want to see what's outside this tower someday. I will take you out, but not now. I want you to perfect your shape shifting ability. If anyone should find out about you, your life may be in danger since I still have foes. They may use you to get to me. I know you've been practicing your dagger skills for a year, but soon I'll hire a sword wielder to train you so you'll have means to defend yourself. I plan on finding one for your during my trip. Have you been enjoying your dagger training?"

"Have ate anything yet?" Lilith asked as the two sat down.

"Yes, an hour ago. I am still surprised my father allowed me to come."

"From what you've told me about him, he sounds like the protective father type."

"Oh he is. My dad is a great person, but even my brothers think he overdoes it. It's sad, but I don't think I'll miss him too much. I'll miss my brothers for sure. I miss my real parents and my adoptive mother the most though. I can't help but compare my real dad to my adoptive dad too. I know it's not fair, but I can't help it."

"Will you return to Earth then at some point?"

"Yes, for sure, but only briefly. I never felt like I totally belong here, but I don't want to completely abandon it either. Hey, maybe if we manage to say Rhindeval and the guys, they might be interested in coming here?"

Lilith laughed. It be a bigger culture shock for the guys to come to modern day Earth. She certainly had a hard time adapting initially, but she had been completely on her own too.

"One thing at a time, Aurora."

That's when the doorbell rang. Wondering who else had arrived, Lilith opened the door to see Artemisia.

"Hello Artemisia. My you look like your ready for Rhindeval already. Please come in. Did you want anything to drink?"

Aurora smiled brightly when Sia showed up. She then saw what she was wearing, she suddenly wished she had such clothing, but she didn't, not for traveling at least. She did bring her gown that she wore to the fair, but that was it.

"Hi Sia," she said a bit shyly.

"Slow down my boy. Let's have a seat and then I'll answer your question. Food and drink sound delightful." As Ivelda moved to take her seat, Cynfael also moved to pull the chair out for her so she could sit comfortably. "Yes, right away Mother!" He said energetically, happy to please his special guest and happy that he was not alone in dreary solitude. The meal prepared was a feast fit for a Queen, Cynfael rearranging the table's dishes so Ivelda's favorites were within her reach before taking his own seat.

"As for the slavery issue, indeed it is still there. Do you remember why I allowed this to happen? One of my loyal followers, Lady Shannon, wanted to see the kingdom that spurned her to suffer. Plus, I wanted to make one of the kingdoms an example of if others didn't comply with my demands." The prince nodded remembering the tale well. Lady Shannon had the ability to shapeshift like him and set an example of how he could use the ability in the outside world. "I remember, Mother." he said, staring at his hands that held cutlery as he contemplated his potential.

"Sweetie, all of the seals are still up. I haven't found a way to get around them. It's a tricky situation." He swallowed a spoonful, set his cutlery down neatly on the table, and dabbed a cloth napkin to his lips. 'Those fools have already lost and are running on borrowed time.' he thought to himself angrily. They should just quit and die so Ivelda could have what she wants and spend more time with him. "I know you'll find a way, Mother. You always do." Cynfael said, trying to comfort and express his belief in her.

"Now as for long I am staying, sadly, it won't be too long this time. I must take my yearly trip around our kingdom. I promise I'll tell you all about it when I get back. I will tell you all that has happened since I last saw you though." Cynfael's eyes saddened briefly but he wanted to enjoy the time they had together while it lasted. So as she told him about recent events, his eyes slowly normalized and he paid close attention to all her words. He smiled, laughed, and frowned at her stories. So many things had happened since and he wished he had been a part of it. The outside world sounded so big and entertaining, full of many people who bowed to Ivelda's reign and those who fought against it.

"Listen carefully, my son. What I am about to tell you now is very important. I plan on finding one for you during my trip. Have you been enjoying your dagger training?"

The yellow-green haired boy's ears perked up and he straightened his posture. He had prepared for this. The day his mother would consider letting him free from the tower. Cynfael stood and picked up the dagger that was given to him to train with that was kept on a vacant shelf. "I have." he answered, eyeing that it was sharp and returning before her, setting the dagger carefully on her lap. It was ornate but worn out at the handle after many uses. He had even gone above and beyond on his own, training in the way of the sword, archery, and other weaponry as he had so much time on his hands. However, he didn't brag with the taste of freedom beckoning.

"Mother, my Queen." he began, bowing and eventually lowering himself to the ground further that he was on his knees and his eyes were hidden from view from the falling of his hair. "The attempt on your life has made me restless. Allow me to serve you from dusk till dawn on your journey. Allow me to shadow you, protect you, as you've protected me." His body began to shape to that of an older gentleman in armor, tied back long dark locks of hair that just reached before the waist, and eyes that bore into one's soul. He brought his hand to his chest as he looked up at Ivelda, no longer the sight of Cynfael. In a husky voice, "My Queen, give me a chance to prove myself. I will not fail you." He pledged.

Adrian Wells

Adrian watched the activities around him as he waited for Thaddeus. Things seem to be pretty busy. It was at that moment that Adrian remembered something her majesty said prior to him leaving, she was going on her yearly trip across Rhindeval. Adrian wonder with the two recent assassination attempts if this was the best idea. But he knew Ivelda was a stubborn woman and once she made up her mind, there was no changing it.

His thoughts were interrupted when he saw Thaddeus. As he got closer, the redhead noticed a little bit of blood on him. His comrade greeted him and mentioned he had issues to deal with before asking if he had any issues.

"It's no problem, Sir Thaddeus, you're a busy man. And I had no problems as of right now. But I'll admit, I had problems dealing with my mission in learning about that would-be assassin. It's unnerving to know there are still people who believe in rumors and false gods. I appreciate you inviting me to train because right now I could use a really good distraction. Are you all right? I see a bit of blood on your armor. Do we have to see Asher?"

Adrian was pretty sure the blood wasn't from Thaddeus, but he wanted to be sure.

Ivelda was very pleased with Cyn's mannerisms and skills. She invested a lot in his upbringing and it looked like her efforts were proving to be fruitful. He will become a valuable asset to her. He was one of the rare ones who's magical abilities came to them at an early age. Oh he couldn't come into his complete potential yet, but he had great promise.

She saw the disappointment in his eyes though when she said he couldn't go with her. Hopefully next year he would be ready for she knew that a caged bird would try to break free at some point, and that's basically was Cyn was at this point. So it wasn't too much of a surprise when her son requested to accompany her on her trip. Her then shapeshifted into an older man. He loyalty was true, that was for sure. But it was still a huge risk if he couldn't control his abilities. Ivelda was very much aware that he couldn't always be in this form and there was a possibility of someone seeing him in his true form, especially in Angalais.

Deciding to test him, Ivelda asked, "How would I explain your presence? Also how long can you retain this form? You are vital to me, Cyn. I wouldn't know what I'd do if anything happened to you."

She was honest too. While she didn't love the boy due to her own fear of him finding out the truth, she did care about him as much as her black heart could.

Aurora Givens~Meridian O'Donohue~Lilith Evers
#5477B9~#46935C~#C71585

Lilith was drying her eyes when she heard a knock at her door. Approaching the door she stopped when she heard Artemisia talking.

”I left some water and a small vial of medicine to help with your stress and headache. I made it from plants so it is all natural, and all you have to do is rub a bit of it on your temples and the center of the forehead and massage it in. It smells like lilacs, and I have been told by my friends who tried it that it does wonders, so I would assume that it is at least somewhat helpful. Also, I know that it can be difficult to do so, but try not to pay any mind to Justice. The way that people treat you is a statement about who they are as a human being. It is not a statement about you.”

She heard her footsteps fading. Looks like she left. Lilith opened the door and picked up the vial and cup of water. The princess was very much like those from the Emerald Isles for they were connected to their land and came up with things made from nature. Deciding to try it out, Lilith did as she was instructed and the ointment worked almost instantly. Deciding to see if the rest had arrived, Lilith came into the main room just in time to see Sibylla come in and greet Aurora and Meridian.

The two princesses smiled at Sibylla but on the inside the pair was still cringing on what they had seen. Sia had left the front door open when she confronted the crowd outside. Both knew Artemisia meant well, but she went about it the wrong way. She did come back inside after addressing the others. Meridian soon turned her attention back to Sibylla. But before she could say anything, Silvia and Justice came in. Justice made a beeline for Artemisia. She cringed again at the harsh words the light hair princess gave her cousin. Even Silvia added her own two cents, which made Meri even more uncomfortable. She wanted to defend her cousin, but Silvia was a good friend of hers too. It was a complicated situation. Meridian didn't like complicated situations. Deciding not to get involved, she turned to Sibylla and answer her question.

"I've been fine Sibylla, but it was hard to say good-bye to my family. You seem to be in good spirits though."

Before she could say anything else, Silvia and Justice said a few more things before Silvia left as well as the men that were with Justice. Meridian sighed in relief.

Lilith watched the whole scenario play out. While it pleased her to see Justice getting along with Silvia, she wasn't happy with how they treated Artemisia. Going up to the Emerald Isles princess, she placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Thank you for that ointment, Artemisia, I do feel better now."

Wanting to see if Euphemia and Ishara were here, she walked outside just in time to see Kinera offer the girls a ride. Good they were all here, well, it seemed Silvia left all together. She hoped she knew where the park was. The whole point of coming here was to make sure all of the princesses stuck together if they didn't know where the park was. Kinera soon went inside and Lilith addressed the two friends.

"I am glad you two are here. We'll be leaving now so I am glad you have a ride."

With that, she went back inside and waited for Kinera to finish speaking to Artemisia before speaking up herself.

"If everyone is ready, we'll be leaving now. Please try to stick together on the highway. Silvia has already left, so hopefully she'll stay put until the rest of us get there. The ride shouldn't take too long, just about 15 minutes. Hopefully there won't be too much people there. School is still happening for regular school systems in the area. I just need to get my luggage in my car. Again, thank you all for coming back."

With that, she went back to her room to grab her stuff. Meridian patted Sia on the back in comfort before leaving the house. Aurora approached her old friend also.

"Will you be okay Sia? I don't know about you, but I am ready to go home. I don't know if you see Rhindeval as home anymore, but I certainly do. See you at the park."

Soon she too was out the door and with a nod at Reese and Ishara, she headed for her own car. Soon everyone was out of the house and Lilith was the last to leave. Looking at her old home one more time, Lilith took the house keys, placed them in an envelope, and put it under the mat. The new homeowners would be here in less then an hour, and Lilith had notify them where the keys would be. Eager to get going, Lilith went to her car and put her luggage in. Seeing everyone else was ready, she got into her care and soon the huge entourage of vehicles took off.

They made it to the park in one piece, thank goodness. Aurora and Meridian took advantage of the limousine and vans Justice had brought along for it helped both girls keep track of where they were going. When they arrived at the park, Lilith was relieved to see Silvia there. The tall princess had parked near the main entrance, but Lilith signaled her to follow them for the place she wanted them to park was further in. It took a couple more minutes to get to that location. There was barely enough room for all of the vehicles though. Getting out of the car, Lilith waited for the others to get out of the cars before addressing them.

"I hope all of you are wearing good walking shoes for we will be going of the beaten track at one point. I mentioned this in my letter, but the trek will take about an hour to get here. I've already brought most of my magical gear here and that's how I came up with my estimate. If you need to rest at any point, let me know."

"Miss Evers, uhh, what is going to happen to our cars? They can't exactly stay here for several months," Meridian asked as she got her gear out of her car.

Lilith smiled for she did think about that. Seeing no one was about, she waited until all of the girls got their luggage and gear out of the vehicles until she pulled out her wand.

"I already know what to do Meridian. Just watch and see."

Steadying herself, she spoke some magic words and magical energy swirled around her and she launched magic at the girls' cars, except for the limousine and vans, and caused them to shrink in size to the size of key chains. In fact, that's exactly what she changed them into. She picked up the cars and handed them to their respective owners. Each was actually a key chain.

"If any of you plan on coming back, you'll have your car to get around. So try not to lose it okay? I'll teach anyone the spell to change them back to their true form at some point. For now let's get going shall we?"

Dumbfounded, Meridian put her car in her fanny pack and followed Lilith. Aurora was quick to follow too, she was excited and had a big smile on her face as they walked through the park.

"When I look in the mirror, I know what I see.
The animal in me." - Solence

Cynfael waited in anticipation. How he had waited for so long to exist beyond the walls that confined him and experience the world commanded by the wicked. "How would I explain your presence? Also how long can you retain this form? You are vital to me, Cyn. I wouldn't know what I'd do if anything happened to you." The boy's lips thinned as he pressed them together in deep thought, not daring to open his mouth until he had devised a plan worth sharing with the Queen. His release was never a conversation that could be brought up lightly, whenever he wished. Should he fail to convince her, he would be left waiting again for her return and when she had the time to spare for him. But that time set aside was much like the crumbs of food that fell off the table and he was the bird pecking for more. He wasn't going to lose this chance and let it slip right through his fingers.

"You answer to no one, my Queen." Her authority was absolute. She needn't explain herself to those beneath her. Those foolish enough to oppose her wishes and desires would meet a timely death. This much he knew and professed. The matter of his freedom was also, ultimately left in her hands. He would not overstep. He did not claim to be wiser. "But if you seek a reason to present me before your courtiers, if it will ease your mind," Cynfael arose from the floor, his back straightening for good posture. Still shapeshifted, he was much taller than usual, and the deepness of his matched voice reverberated through the quiet room. "I am a gift from Lady Shannon of Angalais, our abilities alike. Out of concern from the recent events that have plagued you, she has sent me, bound to her post but longing to be at your side. She offers me also as a token of her humble gratitude and a sincere reminder of her undying loyalty to you. Do with me, what you wish. Long live, our Queen, my Queen Ivelda." He said, the lie flowing out smooth as silk. Shapeshifting was the lie of the eyes so Cynfael effortlessly lied with the tongue. If the lie was enough for the judge, however, remained to be seen.

"In good health, I can retain this form for as long as I am awake. In slumber, I resume true form." He had tested the limits of his ability to the extreme as his only source of power and out of pure boredom. A good diet and regular exercise were key, as they would be for any normal human body. However in the mornings when his eyes would flutter open, there were times he managed to behold his body shapeshifting all over again in the reflection of his mirror. His library had been searched top to bottom for answers but this defect was proving too challenging for him to overcome at this age.

To demonstrate his ability further and how far he had mastered it, Cynfael put on a show. He danced gracefully around Ivelda while singing her lullaby to him since he was a little one cradled in her arms. His body slowly engulfed in magical flames changed form again and again with each step and movement. From one handsome man to the next, he would shape for he was aware of what would please her eye. Like a phoenix reborn from the ashes midair, traces of him would disappear to come alive every time although the voice behind the song was undeniably Cynfael's. He sang beautifully and seamlessly, hoping she would grant his plea.

When Thaddeus confirmed the blood wasn't his, Adrian nodded.

"Well I sure hope he'll be okay then. Anyone who's sparred against you eventually gets better I hope. I know I certainly have," Adrian added with a small grin.

Indeed, while Adrian was one of the best with the bow and arrow, Thaddeus was still the better swordsman. Then again, Adrian didn't have man opportunities to use his sword since it wasn't as needed when it came to stealth work.

"I do hope that you do not have the same issue, Adrian. Though it is rare to hear you have trouble. I'm sure Preacher Carama will be interested in your findings,"Thaddeus suggested after Adrian mentioned the problems he had.

"I will probably do just that, Thaddeus. Preacher Carama should know about the situation in Emolas."

While Adrian did have mixed feelings about one the queen's most loyal subjects, the man still had the right to know. Adrian was just hesitant due to the man's methods in making sure the Queen's subjects remained loyal to her. Fear was not the best way to get people to remain loyal to the Queen, at least in Adrian's opinion. And Carama had been known to use those tactics, although he hardly saw them in action.

Thaddeus asked him about the rumors though and Adrian saw no harm in telling him because the more the Queen's subjects were aware, the better they could do to be aware in case more trouble came their way.

"I guess you haven't heard the rumors about this Lilith and princesses. This is the first time I've heard of them. When I told the queen about them, she was not happy. That assassin mentioned them as he was dying. Makes me wonder if they tried overthrowing the Queen in the past and might still be a threat to her. I want to see if I can find more information on them, but the Queen has order me to be on break for a bit."

Thankfully the subject changed back to why Adrian was here to begin with and he smiled.

"I really need to work on my swordplay since it's a bit rusty. If you do need to practice on your archery though, I'd be happy to oblige," he said with a chuckle.

Ivelda Evers
Code- #003300

Ivelda was pleasantly surprised by her son's idea. It was a very good idea, one that even Ivelda was impressed with. And it would work too. Lady Shannon was one of Ivelda's most loyal followers. All of her Overseers had sent letters to her when they heard about the assassin attempt and each pledged to work extra hard to find any subordinates of the old rulers.

Cyn went on to explain just how good he was with his ability and this pleased Ivelda. Maybe he was ready. And if he slipped up, she would see to it that no one would notice. Ivelda had been very careful up to this point, she wasn't bound to let anything mess up now.

"Well done my son. You have proven yourself. I will allow you to come, HOWEVER, you will obey my every command. You will need to be careful every step of the way. For now the time is short. You get ready while I notify your caretaker of the change of plans. Be ready in half a candlemark's time."

With that said, Ivelda left to go see Cyn's caretaker. Cyn had his own valet, who 2nd as his caretaker, and cook. She made sure that they were aware of the situation and to keep an eye on things. That done, she returned to Cyn's quarters to see if he was ready.

"Are you ready to go? We'll be flying back on my Wyvern."

Meridian wasn't too surprised when something happened the minute they started on the trail for she heard commotion coming from the near back when she glanced to see Justice move towards Reese, Freddie, and Kinera. Deciding not to interfere, she saw Silvia in the far back and decided to talk to her friend. So moving past Justice, Reese, and anyone else, she ended up walking next to the tall girl.

Seeing Silvia's demeanor, Meridian spoke up.

"Hey are you okay? I can tell something is up with you. Anything you want to talk about?"

Aurora saw a few of the girls check on Mia, Justice being one of them, followed by Sia. The pace had significantly slowed down to a basic stand still. She went up to Lilith.

"Miss Evers, you might want to stop. Something has happened."

Lilith turned around and saw what Aurora was talking about. Turning around herself she approached Euphemia's group after seeing Artemisia leaving them to approach Sibylla. Seeing the state of the blonde princess, Lilith became concerned.

Aware that Euphemia still preferred to be call Reese, Lilith asked,

"Is everything okay? What happened to Reese? Kinera? Ishara? Did something happened on the way here. We'll take a break until Reese is feeling better."

Aurora hoped Mia would be okay, but seeing how she was in good hands, she turned to see Sia with Sibylla. Seeing the dark haired princess getting emotional, Aurora came forward.

"Sibylla, are you going to be okay?" she asked.

As he received Ivelda's praise and approval, tears welled up in the boy's eyes. All his studying and hard work had paid off. "Yes, Mother..." Cynfael managed to say without choking on his words. He waited for the Queen to leave the room before allowing the air to fill his lungs again. He dropped to his knees overwhelmed with emotion. Lowering himself so his forehead touched the floor, he ran his fingers through yellow-green clumps and began to laugh, madly and loudly. Free. He didn't even know the meaning of the word but it felt so... good. While he didn't completely understand it, he relished the moment and let it consume and embrace him.

For the first time ever, he'd pack his clothes, his stuff and have an actual use for a bag. Aware it would be next to impossible to bring his library, he perused his collection. Cynfael's fingers pitter-pattered over book spines, pausing at unforgettable reads. A few books went into his pack but he stumbled on, 'The Immortals' Hell'. It was the story that inspired his shapeshifted identity. Obviously, it had to come or-- or. He tapped the cover under his chin.

What was once a treasured belonging, he tossed in the fireplace and watched burn to a crisp. The reflection of the embers danced in his magenta hues as he poked at it. The prince turned away having finished gathering his things and with nothing else left for him here. Shaping into the dark-haired man, he was on the path to living out his own life and that beat sitting around admiring another's. He didn't need it anymore. Still young, he had many years ahead of him to leave one hell of a story and a scar upon the world.

He met Ivelda by the door, his childish bedroom in the background not matching the older form he took to in the least as if he were intruding. "Are you ready to go? We'll be flying back on my Wyvern." Already, the journey was promising. He could barely contain his excitement but contain it he must. He cracked a mischievous smile as he swept into a dignified bow. "Ready as ever, my Queen." Ready as ever, indeed.

Adrian Wells

If there was one thing Adrian remembered about dueling, it was to always stay calm, but alert. Gripping the handle of his own sword, the man made sure to stay poised and light on his feet. He knew in this case, Thaddeus would give him a fair fight, which is what Adrian wanted right now for it would give him time to focus on the basics. In the past, others had tried underhanded ways to get the best of him. Adrian had the scars to prove it. Still, with all of his opponents, there was this sense of reluctancy to face him, especially amongst the rebels he faced. It's something that always bugged him. He wouldn't think about it now for Thaddeus had just made his first move. With a blank expression on his face, Adrian waited until the last minute to move out of the way of his comrade's attack.

As he moved out of the way, Adrian countered with a move of his own by pivoting around Thaddeus's side and suddenly stopping right behind the man before merely placing his blade on the dark hair man's shoulder.

"Looks like I get the first hit, my friend," Adrian said, waiting for Thaddeus's next move.

However, his eyes lifted slightly and he saw smoke rising from behind the castle walls, somewhere in town most likely.

"Looks like something happened in town. Do you want to continue?"

Ivelda Evers
Code- #003300

Ivelda was normally a very patient person, but she knew she was running a bit behind by waiting for Cyn, so she couldn't help but be a bit anxious as she waited for her son. Soon he appeared in his disguised form and said he was ready. Smiling at the boy, Ivelda lead him to her Wyvern. Growing up, Ivelda did learn how to ride horses and even bears since bears were a form of transportation in the icy regions of Emperia. Learning how to ride a Wyvern was a thrilling experience and Ivelda, who always preferred to be self-sufficient, learned how to harness these animals when need be. So she had no issue in making sure Cyn's gear was strapped in correctly. Once she was settled, she turned to Cyn.

"Get on behind me and hold on tightly."

Once he was behind her and holding on, the wyvern took off.

As they flew for the castle, Ivelda spotted something that was off in the town. Part of it looked to be damaged.

"Cyn, I need to make an emergency landing. Stay quiet and let me handle things."

Diving, the wyvern landed. Ivelda road it to the source the rubble and saw Korgan and Raiden in the middle of it, before turning and seeing Tyann.

Suddenly livid, Ivelda hollered, "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!"

Dismounting, Ivelda led her ride to Tyann before handing him the reigns of her ride. Making sure Cyn was still on the wyvern, Ivelda turned to Korgan and Raiden. She looked around and saw the nearby tavern's owner.

"You! Come here, I want to examine your memories of what happened."

Going pale in the face, the owner came over and Ivelda, saying a few words, casts a spell, the enchantress examine the person's memories, seeing what happened before the fight, during it, and all the damage that was caused by her two subjects. Seething, Ivelda dismissed her subject and went over to the two downed men.

"Both of you were very much aware that I was leaving today. I expect the best from my best and THIS is the thanks I get for your years of service?! Korgan, you could have easily walked away from this fight, but no, you didn't. However since you didn't start this fight, I'll take that in consideration for your punishment. Now, you remember what I said the other day? Well, for the length of my trip, I forbid you from leaving town and I am taking away your ship, it's probably not even seaworthy at this point. Since you had no issues destroying this tavern, you can help rebuild it. But thankful I am not taking away your ship for a year because that did cross my mind," Ivelda said before looking at Raiden.

"As for you, Raiden, I am not only appalled by your actions, but I am extremely disappointed. You know full well that Korgan isn't known for his patience, yet you took full advantage of that! And you blow up part of my port areas?! For this, your punishment will be more severe. You will help rebuild the damage you did to the ports. After they are repaired, I'll have you assist my fisherman in their daily work for the next 3 months. That should give you enough time to grow some actual sea legs. Now do I make myself clear to the both of you? For now take yourselves to the infirmary to get your wounds treated. I shall be informing Lord Ryder of your antics and punishments and he'll be making sure you follow through with my orders in my absence."

Finished with them, she turned to Tyann and addressed him in a calmer matter, but there was still an edge to her voice.

"Tyann, why are you here? Are my carriages ready for departure?"

It was easy to see just how aggravated Ivelda was.

Thaddeus Rock
Color Code: #0F569C

"No."

Thaddeus' blade lowered and his back straightened. He didn't turn to look at Adrian as he called out for horses and instructed a couple of guards to accompany them. His sword was sheathed and horse fitted to ride. Adrian was brought a horse as well but Thaddeus didn't check to see if he was going to accompany him and the guards. Thaddeus didn't even want to glance at Adrian lest his friend caught sight of the unbridled fury on his face.

"I'm going to investigate," was all he said before Thaddeus rode off, the guards behind him. He pushed his horse to go as fast as possible as a pit seemed to form at the bottom of his stomach. Hadn't his Queen been leaving today? Were his men already on the scene? Who could have caused this?

Although on that last thought, Thaddeus had a sneaking suspicion who could have caused that explosion. Who would be that unruly and idiotic enough to cause mayhem by the ports of all things?

His hunch was confirmed as he slowed his horse down, seeing Korgan and Raiden in the middle of it all. At the edge was the beast-master and of course, his Queen. He had arrived just as Queen Ivelda had demanded for her carriage and the tightly coiled tension within Thaddeus loosened slightly. A smug look came upon his face as he redirected his horse towards her Majesty, ignoring the others until he came by her side. He got off his horse and kneeled before her, head bowed, cutting in and declaring rather loudly, "Queen Ivelda, I have come to lend a hand and place order back upon these ports. Is there anything you wish of me and my men?"

Adrian Wells~Ivelda Evers
Codes-#30660C~#003300

Ivelda was waiting for an answer from her two crazy incompetent princes when Thaddeus showed up with some men in tow. She was pleased to see ONE of her servants doing their duty. What did surprise her was when Adrian showed up hot on his heels. Adrian had wasted no time in following Thaddeus and was grateful for being given a ride for he would have no time to get the stable if he wanted to keep up with his friend. When he saw the queen though, he quickly got her look of surprise.

"Adrian, why are you here when I gave you some time off?"

"Forgive me your majesty, but I was training with Sir Thaddeus."

Satisfied with his answer, Ivelda turned to Tyann when he spoke up.

“My lady. Your carriages will be ready in five minutes. … I arrived to check the disturbance. I apologize, my lady. I have mister Hunt taking care of them in my stead… Are you not leaving on your Wyvern my lady…? It would cut the most imposing image. And be far safer. For you and your companion.”

Ivelda nearly forgotten about Cyn. The boy had stayed quiet and Ivelda was very pleased. She hoped he was paying close attention on how she handled this situation. He also stayed in his disguise form. He would have to keep it up when she sought Ryder. The two were first cousins and there was a slight family resemblance as a result.

"Thank you Tyann, that'll be perfect then. As far as Cinder goes, yes he will be coming with me for protection reasons. Thank you for your concern."

Korgan finally answered her as she heard him move. Despite how upset she was at his actions, she couldn't help but be glad he took his punishment in strides. It wasn't long before he left with Raiden in tow. She would make sure to check on them both before leaving. Sighing, she turned to Thaddeus.

"I might as well let you know that both Korgan and Raiden are to help rebuild this area; Korgan with the tavern and Raiden with the docks. For now I want you and your men to start cleaning things up if you please. Get the streets cleared at least for now. For now I need to find Ryder and then get ready to leave. I am going to assume that the men you picked for this trip for my protection are ready to go?"

After getting his answer, Ivelda mounted her wyvern and instead of flying it, merely road it throw town.

After Ivelda left, Adrian turned back to Thaddeus and asked, "Do you need any assistance cleaning up this mess? I have nothing better to do at the moment."

As Ivelda road through town a messenger came to her and let her know that Sir Benedicto needed to tell her something and that he was waiting for her at the castle courtyard. She suppressed a groan. She didn't have time for these distractions. He would have to wait until she saw Ryder first. Lucky for her both men were in the courtyard, apparently talking.

"Stay here again Cyn and observe," Ivelda said before dismounting.

As she approached, she was quick to look at the situation. She saw Benedicto's carriage with a cage in it. Going closer she recognized the boy within the cage. Looking sharply, she saw a girl with Ryder and recognized her too. The children were among her 'little birds' for a secret operation. She was well aware both were lycanthropes, but only the boy could transform. Something must have happened for the boy to be in a cage and needing some assistance. Already stressed by recent events, Ivelda took a calming breath before turning to Benedicto.

"Care to tell me why this boy is in a cage Sir Benedicto? This boy just happens to be one of my servants that works in the city. I want him out of there at once and get some medical help. . . . ." Ivelda started saying but came up with another idea, and quickly said, "Nevermind, I'll just find out what happened for myself."

Turning to the boy, she instructed, "Stay still my boy, I want to examine your memories. This won't hurt."

After seeing all that happened to the boy and his sister, she turned back to both Benedicto and Ryder.

"It seems Sir Benedicto, that this boy was more victim then perpetrator. He tried protecting his sister from the Redstones who accused her of thievery. I don't care how loyal the Redstones have been, they had NO right to gang up on children that way. I can understand your worry about the boy and I thank you for your concern. Sir Ryder, see to it that both children are taken care of before sending them home. I have of great need of you before I leave. Sir Benedicto, you are released from your burden and may carry on. I don't have any duties for your outside of Lostein since I'll be traveling over Rhindeval."

Done with the two of them for now, Ivelda had Cyn dismount Cinder and lead them away. Turning to her son, she told him, "There are times Cyn, that to keep your subjects loyal, it's good to show them kindness. Children are easy to scare, but this is one of those times I didn't want them to fear me for it wouldn't be appropriate in front of Benedicto and Ryder there. Come, let's put Cinders away at the stables and you can follow me as I finish doing my duties."

Ari felt like he hadn’t been attending to the more bug-like creatures for long when he heard it. It sounded like an explosion. The current creatures he had been tending to now were flying in a flurry all around him. He waited for them to calm down so none would escape when he left. Ari was able to leave a few minutes later. He walked around the stables and everything was fine physically. He saw dark clouds of smoke in the distance, but he had a bigger issue. The stable’s staff was staring at the smoke, some were even whispering in groups. Since Ari wasn’t one to raise his voice, he went to each person to get them to get back to work. Obviously, something happened in the distance, but it wasn’t like any of them could change whatever happened.

It pleased him when everyone got back to work. Today was important as Ivelda’s carriages had to be prepared for her departure. It was his responsibility as Tyann was elsewhere. At the thought of the carriages, he went to where they should have been being prepared. Ari was glad to see all of the carriages were ready for departure. He checked each carriage twice to make sure everything was perfect. Ari was glad there weren’t any issues as no one wanted to deal with an angry queen. As he went back to do his other duties, he saw Ivelda with stubborn Cinder...and a stranger. He knew he never saw him before. The rebels would be interested in this new person he imagined.

He pushed those thoughts away. He wasn’t a rebel anymore. It was too much a risk for him to be involved with them. It had gotten Tempeste murdered. Additionally, his twin hadn’t sacrificed herself all those years ago for him to die by being reckless. Ari had only joined the rebels for Tempeste's safety after all. It hadn't done her any good though. Although, Ari was already in the queen’s view and wasn’t stupid enough to pretend he didn’t see her. His expressionless face changed to one of friendliness, a smile gracing his lips. Once he was at the proper distance, he bowed at the waist and stayed in that position. He would only raise when Ivelda said he could, she gave him an order, and or she walked away. It would be nice not to look at her while they spoke as well.

“Queen Ivelda, it is an honor and pleasure to be in your presence. Your carriages are ready for your departure whenever you see it fit to leave. Shall I put Cinder away for you?” he asked. He stayed bowed, but held a hand out in case she wanted him to take Cinder. With his luck, she would. He knew Cinder would be stubborn, but he could put them away. Ari could make sure the creature was all set to travel again in case Ivelda planned on taking them with them. His thoughts went back to the gentlemen with her though. Ari had wanted to greet him and find out more about him. He knew there wouldn’t be an easy way to do that. Ari asking questions would be considered highly suspicious as well.

“WOOOOOHOOOO~!" Cynfael exclaimed in excitement as the wyvern took off and carried the boy and his mother high up into the sky. The tower had always been as high and tall as can be but it was nothing compared to this height, view, experience. It was more beautiful than he could have ever imagined. The world was so big, so much space, so much grass, dirt, and flowing water. He'd never felt so alive. He was overjoyed. He wasn't alone. He was... a mess. The tears he held back before came pouring out uncontrollably, the air pressure, and his overwhelming surge of emotions making it hard to breathe. He couldn't clutch at his chest, both arms hugging his mother from the back. He didn't know how to control or understand his excitement and newfound happiness. All he could fathom was that this was the greatest gift from Ivelda. “Thank you mother.. thank you. Thank you!" He screamed above the winds to be heard as he hugged her tighter. Despite his older form with its husky voice, his behavior was just that of a child who had wanted to go outside and play for so long. His dream was about to come true.

"Cyn, I need to make an emergency landing. Stay quiet and let me handle things." Cynfael looked below them as a fight drew to a close with destruction in its wake. He smiled, his excitement at its peak to look and join in. “Yes, my Queen." He acknowledged her orders, resuming a gentlemanly disposition for the character he must play to fool the rest. From there, he saw Korgan, Raiden, and Tyann followed by Thaddeus and Adrian. The former two were made to face Ivelda's wrath as Cynfael stayed back, behaved but puffed up with elation. He remembered them all by looks and names from the stories his mother told him to pass the time. Back then they were just that, stories and miniatures he had carved to fit Ivelda's descriptions placed on his top shelf. Sometimes he'd take them down to play pretend with them and make them fight each other but now he was really here, they were really there and they really fought. He was just a few steps away from the true and real villains, the story he wanted to be a part of... if only. But he got the Raid-King wrong who turned out to be much more beast than man compared to his model. He also got all of their heights wrong. Cynfael scratched his head, wondering if he should carve some new and accurate ones now that he had seen them in the flesh. His mother returned and mounted the wyvern. Cynfael was sad to leave so soon without engaging the older boys but knew they would meet again. He just had to be grateful that he was here at all.

"Stay here again Cyn and observe," He was quick to sense his mother's frustration, simply nodding this time as she left him once more. It was then that he spotted Ryder and Benedicto but what caught his eye most were the younger ones around his age. There was a girl with a blindfold and a wounded boy in a cage. And he always thought the tower was cramped. His eyes met Ryder's as the orange-haired advisor took notice of him before bowing to the Queen. He got his miniature wrong too. The two colors in the eyes weren't painted correctly. He listened as it was revealed the kids were his mother's servants and siblings to each other who Ryder appeared to care a great deal for while Benedicto deemed them a threat. He supposed he should add miniatures of them too in his collection... other children. It was the first time he had seen wounds too from the fight to the boy. He was a bit disappointed expecting more gore.

He dismounted as Ivelda guided him and walked by her side, trailing a little behind out of respect. He had seen many things and people all in one day. He had learned so much. "There are times Cyn, that to keep your subjects loyal, it's good to show them kindness. Children are easy to scare, but this is one of those times I didn't want them to fear me for it wouldn't be appropriate in front of Benedicto and Ryder there. Come, let's put Cinders away at the stables and you can follow me as I finish doing my duties." Cynfael nodded as his mother's words sank in. As a child, he was not easy to scare but his biggest fear was her abandoning him. "I still have much to learn but I will learn well." he said humbly but with vigor. He was her son, a prince, and it was with great pride, love, and admiration that he obediently followed.

“Queen Ivelda, it is an honor and pleasure to be in your presence. Your carriages are ready for your departure whenever you see it fit to leave. Shall I put Cinder away for you?” A blonde servant offered assistance and this was the closest Cynfael had ever stood to another fellow human being that wasn't his mother before. Not even his caretaker dared to stand that close. It wasn't close enough to invade one's personal space and there was a reason as to retrieve Cinder but it ruffled Cynfael's feathers a little so to speak. His hair spiked up as if there was static. He was hoping his first encounter at that distance or nearer would be a pretty woman, not a man.

Ivelda overheard Cyn's reply on how much he had to learn. He was certainly right about learning, but there were some things he could never learn, the two most important things being that she wasn't his real mother or that he was the crown prince of Angalais. He did ask what happened to his father and she told him part of the truth, he died in combat. What she didn't add was that his father died trying to defeat her. King Rector was a big man and a warrior, but he had no offensive magic; so he fell easily compared to a few of the other royals. Still she remembered his ferocity and in retrospect that should have been her first hint that he was not only trying to protect his wife and daughter, but his unborn child. Princess Meridian has also tried protecting her mother and she had the scar to prove it. Meridian had been devastated when she told her that her mother was dead. She had tried attacking her again, but a few of the other princesses held her back that time. Ivelda figured the girl also knew her mother was pregnant. Kerrigan hadn't been showing when Ivelda found out she was pregnant. Recalling how the others behaved at the time, she wondered if the royal couple had told anyone else she was pregnant.

Ivelda's thoughts were interrupted when one of Tyann's workers approached her and asked for Cinder. Smiling at the man, she nodded.

"Excellent, Ari. No don't put Cinder away, but just give him a nice rub down for he's going on the trip too. Also, see to it that an extra mount is made ready for Sir Cynfael here. My dear friend Lady Shannon has sent him to me for extra protection due the recent assassinations attempts. His belongings are on Cinder's back. Thank you."

Giving Ari the reigns of Cinder, she motions for Cyn to follow her. They leave the stables and go inside the palace. Ivelda goes to her own private quarters and allows Cyn in. First though she rings for a servant. When one shows up, she gives him orders.

"I need for you to find out where Sir Aster. Also let Sir Eike know I'll be coming to see him soon to check on things before my departure."

The servant bows and goes off. Ivelda starts to finish getting ready for her trip. Most of her things were packed in the carriages, but there were a few things she still need to pack, like her potions and magic items that she would use to make sure her seals were still firm. One of those places was where she hid her magic mirror.

"Now Cyn is there anything you'd like to know while it's just the two of us? Did you hear the story I gave Ari about where you come from? That's going to be your cover story as to why you're here. I am giving you a mount, but a good chunk of the time you'll be riding in the main carriage with me so you don't always have to have your disguise out. Remember the first rule of magic, never overexert your magic, it'll drain you out. Even I have my limit."

When Iris saw the drawings, she smiled brightly, "Look at these wonderful drawings! You're so much like your mother in that aspect!"

Aurora, curious also, came over and peered at the drawings too.

"They are nice. I could never do anything like that."

"Stop putting yourself down, I am sure you're talented in other ways."

That was true, but Aurora wasn't bound to tell Iris she liked singing or playing the piano and violin. She didn't want that kind of attention. She had barely gotten started playing the piano when her parents died.

Soon though Sia spoke about drawing the princes, but had a harder time recalling what some of them looked like from that little 'slide show' of the princes just now. Aurora looked at Iris's face when Sia said some French words, and she looked perplexed. While Aurora didn't know what those words were either, she did know they weren't English. It brought up another question, but Aurora would bring it up when Sia was done with Iris.

Iris listened carefully to what Artemisia was asking of her. The girl, no young woman, was smart and already thinking ahead. While a few of the words she said didn't make any sense, she did get the gist of it. She also saw the look she gave Aurora.

"Sure I can help you with the drawings! As for a map of Rhindeval, you don't have to worry about that. There's a small library here with a book of maps of each kingdom. Trust me, they are very accurate. Say, Artemisia? Are you okay? You look like you're holding in your emotions. It's never a good idea to hold them in for too long."

Aurora had seen the look Sia had given her too. She wondered if she had did something wrong for Sia looked a bit frustrated. Then again, her old friend did have a rough time getting along with a few of the girls. Maybe it had to do with something with that?

"Remember the first rule of magic, never overexert your magic, it'll drain you out. Even I have my limit."
Cynfael burst into flames as he changed back to his normal self. "Yes, mother." He answered dully, having a good stretch before falling backward onto the bed and staring up at the ceiling. He had gotten so used to staring up at the same ceiling day after day that staring at this one was view enough.

"Do you have favorites among your servants?" he asked, after a great deal of thinking. "Your favorites are my favorites so I want to know who I have to be kind to, to keep them especially loyal." Cynfael thought aloud, trying to wrap his head around what Ivelda was trying to teach him during the incident between Benedicto and Ryder.

He rolled to lay on his stomach, propped up an elbow, and rested his chin in the hand as he watched her pack."People are always beautiful in the books unless they're poor or unimportant but that stable hand wasn't ugly at all." He spoke an observation, puzzled by it. "Do you only let beautiful people serve you, mother?" He asked his second question, ruffling his hair as the only ugly servant was the cursed pigman so far. "Will I get servants too?" Third question, as she was giving him a mount of his own and he was used to being spoiled in the tower. He wondered what other gifts he would receive.

With the made-up story of being Ivelda's sworn protector, the boy also wanted to ask, "Do I get to kill anyone? I've never killed a person before and that might make me look weak." He thought aloud, almost certain that the older servant boys had at least killed one person in their line of work. Probably more than that though like... hundreds! He was so envious.

"I have one more question, just one more!" he pleaded, bringing both his hands together with puppy eyes. Cynfael was full of curiosity but didn't want to be a bother. The final question he left for last intentionally as it was the hardest to ask. He was already grateful for his freedom but there was an uncertain future ahead of him. Voice quieter as he hung his arms over the bed's edge, "When I prove myself... will they learn I'm your son?"

Tempeste paid close attention to every thought and image that passed through Korgan to her own mind. She knew there was a chance he didn't kidnap Ari but did not expect him to have a lewd fantasy of her! Her skin flushed immediately, from her face down to her collarbone. I don't...that's not... I- Tempeste could barely form a coherent thought. She shook her head side to side repeatedly until she was dizzy, trying to shake it off literally which helped some.

"Would you be so kind to release... me?" She asked, managing to get stability back into her voice but failing without contest to look him in the eyes. So embarrassing. So embarrassing! Please let me go! Her thoughts pleaded, hoping to put some distance between them. She wriggled her trapped hand and scrunched her eyes. I DON'T DRESS LIKE THAT! She mentally protested, feeling so exposed to someone she just met.

Then her eyes lowered to the floor in defeat as she dangled in his grasp. "I'm sorry, sir.” She apologized. She had intruded upon his past memories and his private thoughts but he turned out to be innocent after all. "I would have gone to the stables to look for him if I could but the last time I left my post for the kitchens, I got into trouble.” I thought you might know why he never comes. Ari, why? Her mind recalled waiting for Ari every day but before it could reveal too much like Carter and their association, she purposefully bit her tongue to bring her back to the present and it cut off his face.

"I'd appreciate the help.” Tempeste accepted his offer, with a grateful smile even, in spite of the precarious situation. Finding Ari was a priority. I just want to know he's okay-- that it's not my fault. Tempeste had been carrying that weight and worry on her shoulders alone all this time but something about sharing that weight and worry with someone else made it more emotional. Although the sadness was stirring within, she denied it from leaking.

She was still on duty and had a job to do. "I'll help you first. May I see your wounds, s-sir?” She stuck by her intention to attend to his healing but it was not going to be easy. Her pink-purple hues danced everywhere except towards Korgan, still much embarrassed. And I'm leaving the...'trick' in case of any funny business. Tempeste concluded, dearly hoping there wasn't going to be any but wanting the warning if there would be.

Ivelda Evers
Code- #003300

"Do you have favorites among your servants? Your favorites are my favorites so I want to know who I have to be kind to, to keep them especially loyal."

Ivelda knew all of her favorite servants were the princes she had control of because she loved molding each of them to best serve her. This also include Cyn. As long as she kept her hold over each of them, she knew they would remain loyal too her.

"You've already met most of them, Cyn, even the few trouble makers. They are my favorites because they each play a role in maintaining order in my kingdom and to make sure no one poses a threat to my rule. Adrian, the red head you saw, is one of my best spies, but also serves as an assassin when I need him to be. You'll be meeting him soon, but my #1 Assassin is Jai, but this must remain a secret between you and me for most don't know this. Adrian knows this ONLY because the two use to train together before they went on solo missions. Jai's known job is that of my Main Healer. He has his own medical ward. I plan on seeing him before we leave. The other one you haven't seen yet is my Primary Tormentor, Eike. He's very devious and loves his job and causing pain to others. I pretty much raised him myself since his parents died when he was 5, so he's not so much older then you. He hates coming out of the dungeon. When we go done there soon, I want you to mentally prepare yourself. I don't know if you're ready to see what's down in the dungeons yet, so I want to warn you. One of the most important of my servants is my advisor Ryder. He's basically my right hand man and takes care of things when I am not able. Like he'll be in charge of things while we're gone. You saw him dealing with Benedicto with those 2 children servants of mine. Benedicto is one of my Preachers and is the loyalist amongst them. Sometimes he takes his duty too seriously though and there have been times I worry he's pushing the people too hard into worshiping me. As for the rest of my favorite servants, there's the beast master, Tyann, who you saw with the huge wolf. I'll make sure he eventually finds a mount suited for you. You also saw my Captain of the Guards, Sir Thaddeus, who I ordered to start cleaning up the mess Korgan and Raiden made. He's in charge of my army here in Lostein. Korgan is an outrider who NORMALLY sails the waters of Rhindeval. Raiden is my primary hunter. He'll hunt down any creature I desire, sometimes kill them or alive, especially if I want an exotic mount. Cinder is a perfect example, Raiden got him while he was still in his egg. He was raised by Tyann though. Now as much as I love all of my servants, you my dear boy will always been my favorite no matter what since you're my special little prince."

Cyn's next question was an interesting one.

"I am assuming you're thinking of Tyann's assistant, Ari? He's from Serein I believe, which has been largely deserted. I prefer someone to be competent at their job though Cyn. If they're both that and beautiful though, that's just a bonus. Hehe, if I only allowed beautiful people to work for me, I'd've fired Korgan a long time ago." Ivelda said with a small life.

Ivelda was amused when when Cyn asked if he was ever going to kill anymore. She didn't realize he was starting to get a bit blood thirsty. With a smile, she patted his head and combed her fingers through it.

"Maybe soon. We'll see how you handle this trip first."

His last question did catch Ivelda off guard and she could tell Cyn was nervous to ask it. Did he want all of Rhindeval to know? That was something Ivelda wasn't sure was a good idea. Anyone who lived during the reign of the previous rulers would know that Cyn was NOT her biological son. Not to mention that none of her servants, especially the other princes knew of Cyn. He was her biggest secret after all. If Cyn ever found out she wasn't his real mother, he could possibly turn against her, and Ivelda couldn't risk that. She was going to have figure out and soon. She to keep Cyn loyal to her and she knew she had to appease him at times.

"I am going to have to think about that Cyn. But you are right about one think, I do want you to prove yourself. You must be able to defend yourself against any threat first. Like when I was your age, I was still in training myself. For now, let's focus on this trip okay?"

She feels a presence coming has Cyn return to his disguise. Soon the servant she sent off returned.

"Your majesty, I just got word that Sir Jai is currently tending to the boy that Sir Ryder brought in. Also, Sir Eike is in the medical ward. Seems he was hurt."

"Oh really? I do hope he's okay for he rarely leaves the dungeon. Come Cyn, let's see if we can find him and then find Sir Jai."

Leaving her quarters, Ivelda and Cyn head straight for the medical ward. Once they made it, staff there were quick to point where Eike was. Ivelda headed for the door only to see Eike come out of it, hauling a little girl right behind him.

"Oh Eike, I heard you were hurt so I personally came to check on you. Are you okay? From the looks of it, you're fine. If you're able, I need a few minutes of your time. I'd love to take you back to your domain, but since I need to see our Head Healer before I leave, would you mind if we talk in an empty room? Cyn, dearie, why don't you look after Eike's charge real quick in another spare room? This won't take long."

After finding two spare rooms in the medical ward, Ivelda made sure the room she was in with Eike was as dark as she could make it, without making it pitch black and she could still see Eike.

"Better? As you know, I am going on my trip over the kingdom. Is there anything you're going to need? I know Lostein doesn't have the best conditions to grow some of your special 'tools'."

Meridian O'Donohue
#46935C

“Meridian, what the hell? You do not knock and then enter a room. It is rude, especially if you are bringing in a stranger. You should have waited until you were told to come in. We could have been naked. I didn’t take you as a peeping tom,” Silvia yelled at her, catching Meri a bit off guard.

Thinking about it, she guessed she should have waited, but patience was never really a virtue of hers. Still she should have made sure they were dressed. Before she could apologize though, Silvia and her faerie assistant left the room by exiting a window. Meri groaned, knowing she was going to have to make it up to Silvia soon for she didn't want to leave matters unsettled. Both of her sets of parents had told her to fix her mistakes when she could.

Soon though, Sibylla got up and spoke to her.

"She was right, you know. About the naked part. Not that we were naked together. I was naked. Like, if you had literally walked in two seconds earlier you would have- I mean, not that Silvia was looking but look, listen."

This earn a giggle out of Meri. Then Sibylla came up to her, placed a hand on her shoulder and asked her to not talk about what she just said. What did that mean? Of course Meri would keep her word, if she knew what she was talking about.

"Uhhh, sure I won't say anything, but I don't understand what you want me to keep quiet about. If it's about the fact that you were getting your measurements done and how I almost walked in on you being naked, then that's fine."

Fern groaned and decided to help the Meridian out.

"I think she means to not talk about Princess Silvia's small stature."

"Oh . . . . well I don't see why Silvia should be embarrassed, but my lips are sealed. Still, it's something that's bound to come out. I mean, we all are suppose to have magic within us. Heck, I think mine appeared just as we entered that portal that brought us here. I went flying through it! Aurora can dreamwalk and Sia has power over plants. Is Silvia scared she'll be stuck that way I guess? You faeries are going to help us with our powers right?"

"Well, I personally won't be since I'll be returning to the fae kingdom to help with that cure for the princes. But I know several here will be staying to help all of you."[/color]

"Oh good. By the way Sibylla, it's nice to see you still make puns. I could never manage to get one down. I think you would drive a few of the boys up the wall with them hehe. You're done taking your measurements right? Do you want to stay here or explore the house a bit?"

"Oh, uh, bye-bye, ma'am! Thank you!" Lilou yelped over to Tempeste as Eike dragged her out, pulling her away from staring slack-jawed at the pig man. "Come on... Pig." The rat perched atop her shoulder, almost half the size of her head. Lilou's waddle picked up speed until she had to jog beside him to keep up. Her big brown eyes flicked cautiously up at her "big brother". She didn't understand what made him so cranky all of a sudden, but then again, she never understood the reason for his tantrums. What she did know, is that this time, it felt different.

"... Ummm... big brother Eike... are you oka-" She began to ask, when they exited the door, and Lilou was confronted with the sight of - HER. The Queen. Her lips sealed and the colour left her cheeks, her eyes tripling in size. Even Pig squeaked and burrowed himself in her hair. She was beautiful. Frighteningly so, surpassing humanity's imperfections and holding herself in a way that made her appear as though she was floating. It was the first time Lilou had seen her in person and the portraits did not do her justice - it would be impossible to. Eike let go of her, and she lifted her skirts to dip into the deepest, most elegant curtsy she could manage.

This was the woman who had been her Queen for her whole life. She'd known no other time before her. She'd prayed in her church, seen the hardships of those who worked the fields. She never quite understood, or felt, the tragedy of it. She hadn't seen the flower fields burn. She hadn't felt the heartbreak Rhindeval felt on the night of that tragedy. Not until her parents were taken.

She didn't dare speak, not even praises. Conflict waged within her, far too much for such a little body to contain. She had grown up admiring and praying to Ivelda. And now she was here, put to work in the dungeons, her father dead, and her mother...

She peeked up from the curtsy. There was a figure behind Ivelda, tall, well dressed, hair pinned back into a ponytail, and his face............... Lilou's jaw dropped. Ivelda swept Eike away, and she was left alone with the man.

Her brown eyes were enormous on her little face, sparkling in wonder. Hearts were practically forming in them. Her cheeks glowed pink. Pig tugged at her earlobe with his teeth, but she was numb to his attempts to nab her attention. Flowers bloomed all around the man in her mind's eye. A gentle breeze made his long dark hair sway and glimmer like it was in a shampoo commercial. Every movement he made was in slow motion. She stared, unabashedly, and in love.

"... Tsuneo?" she at last whispered in a daze, "How did you get out of your book?"

I'm her favorite.

Her words stuck to him as he hid a skip in his step, following after her every footstep with a chest that swelled with pride. His mother, the Queen, chose him among her many followers. He wished, he hoped but he was never sure. Even as her only son, he was unseen and unheard of, a well-kept secret swept under the rug... but no more.

He patted his chest to stop his heart from exploding with excitement, rays of light dancing through his hair and caressing his face. He spared a moment to turn around and look up at the vast sky through the windows of the castle with eyes that twinkled with wonder and a dash of mischief. I'm really... here. He smiled then caught up to the woman he called his mother.

He didn't get to see much of the medical ward as Eike was found. "My Primary Tormentor, Eike. He's very devious and loves his job and causing pain to others. I pretty much raised him myself since his parents died when he was 5, so he's not so much older than you." He recalled his mother's description, the boy of light purple hair and bags under his eyes. "I don't know if you're ready to see what's down in the dungeons yet, so I want to warn you." Cynfael grunted quietly. Ivelda's warnings only stirring up imagination and curiosity. Just his luck that Eike had left the dungeons he was so eager to see...

"Cyn, dearie, why don't you look after Eike's charge real quick in another spare room? This won't take long." He nodded, sealing the door behind them and tracing his finger down the gap. Cynfael turned around and cast his eyes downwards more for this charge, a little girl around his age. With long brown hair, soft rosy cheeks, and big eyes that only got bigger as they set their sights on him. There was also a rat perched on her shoulder she didn't seem to notice. Odd little thing. She was like a doll dressed for a funeral. In the quiet, small room... he could only hear his heart beating away as he rested his hand on the dagger attached to his side. A girl... I've never-

"... Tsuneo?" His eyes flashed in recognition of the name, catching the whisper swiftly. "How did you get out of your book?" He sighed and rubbed the back of his head, the truth much more complicated. "I’m...." Should he lie and play along? He didn't expect anyone else to pick up on his inspiration so quickly. "You must be well read... for a child." The latter slid off his tongue strangely, knowing he was still a child himself. His hand lowered to place a finger on his lips to gesture not to tell a soul.

"Out here... beyond the pages. I’m Cynfael." He bent down on one knee before her, the way a knight would. He looked up at her closely, those brown orbs drawing him in before releasing a smile and lifting her off the ground and into the air. A girl! Cynfael had finally made contact with one, a pretty one. His smile turned into laughter he was unable to contain any longer. It was like he'd discovered the rarest thing in the world! Well... for a pubescent alone in a tower anyway. Then his eyes wandered to her arm, bandaged in an unusual way. Mother did say Eike likes to hurt people. "Would you..." He swallowed, then mustered the courage. "Would you like to be my servant instead?"

Lilou stared at Tsuneo in complete awe and lifted her veil. He even... spoke like Tsuneo, all polite and princely! She mirrored his finger to his lips, tapping her own before nodding in a transfixed state. There was no way she could keep quiet about this under normal circumstances, but - well, there wasn't anyone to tell. He got down on his knee, and Lilou clasped her hands over her heart, her shoulders seizing up with a quiet gasp.

"Cyn... fael?" She repeated after him, with a tilt of her head. Of course, he was on a mission here, with a false identity! It was just like the part in the book when - "Ahh!"

She was swooped off the ground. Lilou's heart shrieked and banged against her chest, being chased around by a swarm of butterflies. Pig squeaked and clung to her dress with his claws and teeth. She dangled up there like a toy. Her initial instinct that she was being abducted gave way as she watched the way he admired her. Her chin tucked in and her cheeks swelled up with pink. This was all very new and a little frightening. She'd only ever experienced these sort of heart tingles safely behind pages, beside her bed light.

"Would you like to be my servant instead?"

"Oh! Umm, ah..." Lilou babbled at his inquiry. Was he... was she being... He was saving her! Her whole body shook as she nodded.

"I would... I would really much prefer that, Cynfael!" She exclaimed, hands balled into fists. She relaxed into his hands, like it had taken all of her energy to expel those words, and glanced in the direction Ivelda had taken her master. "But..." she hesitated, "... Big brother Eike won't like it if I go."

Eike welcomed the dark. Lady Twilight touched his eyes with cool, soothing fingers, and he took off the black veil that had protected him from the sun. Ivelda knew how to roll him right into her hand. Eike watched her lips as she spoke, his eyes well adjusted to the dim light. But his comfort was dragged down by the reminder she was leaving.

His eyes slid away from Ivelda. "I need..." he began. It was an odd question that always made him feel put on the spot. He didn't truly need anything. He could enact his duty with whatever he had. He was fed. He could sleep wherever his body fell. What do you want, should be the question, and the answer to that was right in front of him.

"Seeds from Emelas," he answered. "To experiment. They grow... well... in the dungeon's conditions." The brief thought to take the other thing he 'needed' and embrace her goodbye flickered in his head, not that his dull gaze betrayed it. His brow furrowed as he thought of Ishara, and by extension, the s t r a n g e r she had been left with. Ivelda had trusted the nameless man with the child, but that reassurance didn't stop the annoying feeling gnawing at the back of his head. "... And... wine, please."

He finished his requests with a bow. It didn't occur to him to make an excuse for why he was requesting the beverage.

"If that's... all you required of me..." he spoke in monotone, head still bowed, "The last thing I need is... you," the briefest pause, "To return home safe, Your Majesty."

ImageThere was a scene in the book much like this, Tsuneo holding a cat he had caught red-handed trying to nick the treats from his pocket. But Cynfael had different intentions and a much different twinkle in his eyes as he continued to lift the smaller girl above. "Have you already forgotten who I am?" he asked, not deterred in the least. He was not Tsuneo, he'd never set a foot on earthen ground until today... However, the biggest lie was the one he told himself and that lie gave him power. Cynfael smirked, believing a son of Ivelda to be unstoppable. Did she not say, that he was her favorite?

"I'll be traveling alongside her majesty, Queen Ivelda." He began, bringing his arms down and its captive, her tip toes touching the floor until he released. "I can't say how long the journey will be." Cynfael paced the room as he gathered his thoughts, his strides long and his footsteps light. He then stopped by a window to lean on its sill, a touch of home as his gaze drifted shortly after. "But I will prove myself to her, and to the world." He declared, sitting down cross-legged and inhaling deeply. Every fiber of his being was racing to make it happen. Patience, he needed to be patient.

He pulled out his dagger and made shapes on the wall with the light reflecting off its blade and the shadow of his hands. "When I return, I'll ask for you." He smiled as he made a cat, then a princess. "Sir Eike, of what little I know of him, won't disobey the Queen." Cynfael's hands stilled, preserving the shadow princess. His plan didn't make for a bad story now, did it? He thought it over, and what Tsuneo would do.

"Here I am planning our future..." He chuckled, turning to her realizing what he had missed. "When I don't even know your name."
