Ishara Soli Eldiel

The Stoner Princess

a character in “Fractured Kingdoms”, as played by CrossKnight35

Description

Ishara Soli Eldiel

Alias: Fredericka ā€œFreddieā€ Reyes

Age: 21

Pendant: Amethyst

Hex code: #740c50
Image

Appearance: Snow-pale skin, silvery hair. Average height with a slight figure. Her face is perpetually tired, with a vacant, ice-blue gaze and dark circles under her eyes. She favours a maroon hoodie over a black graphic shirt, with ripped jeans and a pair of mismatched sneakers to complete her ensemble.

Personality: A hedonist at heart, Freddie seeks the simple pleasures of life. Greasy foods, strong drinks, and the thrills of a good high. She doesnā€™t dwell on regrets or what-could-have-beens, nor does she worry about the future and its murky businesses. Her short attention span, chronic procrastination, and zero sense of punctuality has led her to many troubles, both academic and personal. And yet, she keeps calm and carries on. After all, life is short, so why waste it worrying?

History: Freddie was born Ishara Soli Eldiel, heiress of Emelas, a kingdom which hoards the profane secrets of thaumaturgy within their stone citadels. Despite this, Ishara proved a quiet, timid child with no talent for alchemy. Her parents neglected her, her mentors shunned her, and her people thought her unworthy. Instead, Ishara bonded with the royal cook. She remembered the scent of freshly-baked bread, and how his smile beckoned her for a bite.

When the tragedy occurred, Lilith whisked Ishara away to earth, where she was adopted by a humble, small-town writer under the new name of Fredericka Reyes. The years passed, and Fredericka, or ā€œFreddieā€ settled into her new life, all thoughts and memories of Rhindeval tucked deep within the recesses of her mind. She currently enrols in the University as a culinary student, with a part time job as a fry cook. She keeps her amethyst pendant in her satchel. Always carried, rarely worn. Many times, she thought of pawning it off, but something always stopped her. Something inscrutable, in the back of her mindā€¦

So begins...

'What a very unlikable person.' Lucie thought, with silver eyes that narrowed sharply as she observed this other princess. A person who was only capable of giving one-sided, cruddy speeches full of contradictions. Lucie called the bluff, proved her wrong and she responded with an insult as a distraction. She said her father was a lawyer, was it? Well, she was no lawyer in the making if she couldn't rebuttal. "no better than Justice""you were not my target""does not warrant the response that you gave me." Artemisia persistently tried to present herself as a kind person but the more she spoke, the more her words betrayed that image. Seeing how she loved her quotes and French, "Comme on fait son lit, on se couche."Translation: Youā€™ve made your bed, now lie on it.

(Fast forward. ā‡„) Lucie sighed, empty-handed. All the princesses got a keychain, except her. She knew why, of course. The limousine and the black vans all had drivers to take them away but... still. She was left out, again. Just like at Richard's birthday party. The men had her luggage handled and she had swapped her heels for leather boots. All that was left before she departed this world, was the hour long trek. Lucie groaned and groaned again. Walking was such a chore.

ImageThe blue-haired girl turned upon hearing Freddie's distressed voice. She didn't even know that lifeless girl could do distress. Overhearing that Kinera was the root of the problem, Lucie interjected with interest. "What's wrong with Reese?" she asked, quirking a brow. Last she saw, Kinera was generously offering the two a lift. Was that all the time it took for Kinera to lose her patience with that frog?

Lucie managed to deduce for herself what was amiss though. One look at Reese was enough. It was eerily impressive. "Did you suck out her soul? Is that your magic ability?" she asked, looking over her shoulder at Kinera for a reply before returning her focus to Reese's current state. They weren't friends, not even close, but..."If I may?" she said to Freddie, a heads up that she had something in mind. A test of sorts.

Lucie's face inched closer to Reese's as silver eyes met green. "Reese, look at me. I'm the person you hate the most and I'm here, all up in your face. Do something about it."

ā€Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward,
safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.ā€
~Princess Diana

Hex Code ~ #0B610B

As they walked, Althea took advantage of the fact that they were surrounded by nature. Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply and let it out in a slow, satisfying exhale. As she did so, it was as though she felt all of the stress leave her body at once, the tensity in her back relaxing by half and giving her a sweet feeling of calmness. The swaying of the leaves in the wind was on par with the soft noises of the animals hidden within the forestry, and alongside the gentle musk of the overall nature brought upon her an overwhelming sense of peace.

Her peace was shattered by the sound of Freddie's panicked voice, causing Althea to come to a pause mid-step as she tuned into the end of the girlā€™s shriek. Internally she debated whether or not to even look and see what the commotion was about - so far interjecting herself and attempting to help had ended in nothing but trouble for her - but the mental conflict was over in a matter of moments. Whether or not the outcome went badly for her, she had a moral duty as a human being to help if someone else was hurt or in need.

With her mind made up, she spun on her heel and made the short trek back to where Freddie, Reese, and Justice were huddled, rolled her eyes ever so slightly at Justiceā€™s antics as she approached. An internal reminder later to mind her manners and keep her patience, Althea stopped a few steps away, peering around Justice and taking in Reeseā€™s mannerisms and blank expression. After a few moments of simply staring - she really could care less if they thought her to be weird, she needed to study the girl as best she could from the distance that she was at - she turned her gaze to Freddie, completely ignoring Justiceā€™s presence. It was better to not say anything if she had nothing nice to say to the woman.

ā€As far as I can tell, she was given a sedative of some sort, but in an extremely strong dosage. What I would recommend is to give her some activated charcoal.ā€ At the blank and confused looks on their faces, she went on to explain, ā€The charcoal's porous texture has a negative electrical charge, which causes it to attract positively charged molecules, such as toxins and gases. This helps it to trap toxins and chemicals inside of the gut. It is used in a lot of emergency rooms for overdoses. I only have activated charcoal pills with me, but they should work just as well,ā€ she finished as she opened the first aid bag at her waist and fished out a small bottle. Twisting it open, she dropped out two small green and white pills and dropped them into Freddieā€™s hand before closing the bottle and returning it to the bag, which she then zipped shut.

Once that was done, she crouched down beside her cooler and retrieved a bottle of water, which she also handed to Freddie. As she did so, she managed a slight glance over the other girlā€™s shoulder, her gaze skimming over the tear-coated face that belonged to Sybilla. She did notice Kinera and Silvia lagging behind the group as well, but to be frank, she could not really care less considering their earlier attitudes towards her. It wasn't like they had been doing anything to try and rein in the chaos that had been ensuing at Lilith's house. At least she tried to help. Noting Sybilla's presence for after she had dealt with Freddie and Reese - as with Kinera and Silvia, she could not care less about Justice's presence as the girl was a complete menace - she turned her attention back to Freddie. ā€If you can get her to swallow those pills, she should be fine within half an hour. I would highly recommend keeping an eye on her and monitoring her state for the next few hours or so, though, whether or not she returns to normal. I have no idea what she took, but it looks like she was given far too much of it.ā€

Althea wrapped her fingers around the handle of her cooler and hefted the bag up on her shoulders slightly to adjust its weight on her back, her feet already taking her away from the small huddle of women. ā€Good luck, and if you need anything, feel free to come and ask!ā€™

Taking note of how they were beginning to fall slightly behind the group and that they needed to hurry this up a bit, she came to a stop in front of Sybilla. Her hand reached up and drew down her mask, a soft pah sound escaping her lips as she did so, and she shook her head slightly to take in the fresh air before once again turning her gaze on Sybilla. Before she said anything, however, she reached into a small pouch on her large backpack and retrieved a few tissues, passing them to the other girl. At the same time, she moved a bit to the side and motioned to the cooler as an offering for Sybilla to help herself, her hands sliding into her skirt pockets as she did so. She scuffed the dirt slightly with the toe of her shoe, looking up at the slowly retreating figures of the other princesses and Lilith on the trail ahead of them.

ā€I know that things are difficult right now, and that the beaucoup d'entre nous* are not getting along that well, but I promise that if you power through, things will work out in the end. So chin up petit chaton**,ā€ Althea said with a slightly sheepish smile. One-on-one pep talks werenā€™t really her forte, especially with someone who was essentially a stranger, but it was clear to her that the other girl was overwhelmed with everything that was going on and all of the emotions that came along with the events of the last few weeks. It was only right for her to try and cheer her up a bit. At that thought, she was reminded of earlier occurrences, prompting her to once more open her first aid bag, this time retrieving a small vial identical to the one that she had given Lilith back at the house.

Closing the bag once more, she unscrewed the cap, revealing a roll-on applicator, and without actually applying it to herself, she demonstrated how to use it by moving it in circles over both temples and the center of her forehead. As she did so, she explained, ā€This is an oil that I made myself and is completely natural. It smells like lavender and is extremely helpful when you are stressed or anxious, or when you have a headache or cannot sleep.ā€ Closing the container once more, she took up Sybillaā€™s hand without waiting for a response and slid it into her palm, closing her fingers around it and releasing her hand. ā€Try it and if it works, wonderful! If not, then all you did was waste a few moments of your time. We should get back, though; we do not want to be left behind! En avant!***ā€ With that said, Althea tugged her mask back up, grabbed the handle of her cooler, and began to walk after the rest of the group, her pace slightly quicker than usual so that they could catch up with them.

Adrian Wells
Code-#30660C

When Thaddeus confirmed the blood wasn't his, Adrian nodded.

"Well I sure hope he'll be okay then. Anyone who's sparred against you eventually gets better I hope. I know I certainly have," Adrian added with a small grin.

Indeed, while Adrian was one of the best with the bow and arrow, Thaddeus was still the better swordsman. Then again, Adrian didn't have man opportunities to use his sword since it wasn't as needed when it came to stealth work.

"I do hope that you do not have the same issue, Adrian. Though it is rare to hear you have trouble. I'm sure Preacher Carama will be interested in your findings,"Thaddeus suggested after Adrian mentioned the problems he had.

"I will probably do just that, Thaddeus. Preacher Carama should know about the situation in Emolas."

While Adrian did have mixed feelings about one the queen's most loyal subjects, the man still had the right to know. Adrian was just hesitant due to the man's methods in making sure the Queen's subjects remained loyal to her. Fear was not the best way to get people to remain loyal to the Queen, at least in Adrian's opinion. And Carama had been known to use those tactics, although he hardly saw them in action.

Thaddeus asked him about the rumors though and Adrian saw no harm in telling him because the more the Queen's subjects were aware, the better they could do to be aware in case more trouble came their way.

"I guess you haven't heard the rumors about this Lilith and princesses. This is the first time I've heard of them. When I told the queen about them, she was not happy. That assassin mentioned them as he was dying. Makes me wonder if they tried overthrowing the Queen in the past and might still be a threat to her. I want to see if I can find more information on them, but the Queen has order me to be on break for a bit."

Thankfully the subject changed back to why Adrian was here to begin with and he smiled.

"I really need to work on my swordplay since it's a bit rusty. If you do need to practice on your archery though, I'd be happy to oblige," he said with a chuckle.

Ivelda Evers
Code- #003300

Ivelda was pleasantly surprised by her son's idea. It was a very good idea, one that even Ivelda was impressed with. And it would work too. Lady Shannon was one of Ivelda's most loyal followers. All of her Overseers had sent letters to her when they heard about the assassin attempt and each pledged to work extra hard to find any subordinates of the old rulers.

Cyn went on to explain just how good he was with his ability and this pleased Ivelda. Maybe he was ready. And if he slipped up, she would see to it that no one would notice. Ivelda had been very careful up to this point, she wasn't bound to let anything mess up now.

"Well done my son. You have proven yourself. I will allow you to come, HOWEVER, you will obey my every command. You will need to be careful every step of the way. For now the time is short. You get ready while I notify your caretaker of the change of plans. Be ready in half a candlemark's time."

With that said, Ivelda left to go see Cyn's caretaker. Cyn had his own valet, who 2nd as his caretaker, and cook. She made sure that they were aware of the situation and to keep an eye on things. That done, she returned to Cyn's quarters to see if he was ready.

"Are you ready to go? We'll be flying back on my Wyvern."

Aurora Givens~Meridian O'Donohue~Lilith Evers
#5477B9~#46935C~#C71585

Meridian wasn't too surprised when something happened the minute they started on the trail for she heard commotion coming from the near back when she glanced to see Justice move towards Reese, Freddie, and Kinera. Deciding not to interfere, she saw Silvia in the far back and decided to talk to her friend. So moving past Justice, Reese, and anyone else, she ended up walking next to the tall girl.

Seeing Silvia's demeanor, Meridian spoke up.

"Hey are you okay? I can tell something is up with you. Anything you want to talk about?"

Aurora saw a few of the girls check on Mia, Justice being one of them, followed by Sia. The pace had significantly slowed down to a basic stand still. She went up to Lilith.

"Miss Evers, you might want to stop. Something has happened."

Lilith turned around and saw what Aurora was talking about. Turning around herself she approached Euphemia's group after seeing Artemisia leaving them to approach Sibylla. Seeing the state of the blonde princess, Lilith became concerned.

Aware that Euphemia still preferred to be call Reese, Lilith asked,

"Is everything okay? What happened to Reese? Kinera? Ishara? Did something happened on the way here. We'll take a break until Reese is feeling better."

Aurora hoped Mia would be okay, but seeing how she was in good hands, she turned to see Sia with Sibylla. Seeing the dark haired princess getting emotional, Aurora came forward.

"Sibylla, are you going to be okay?" she asked.

Kinera Laibon

ā€œOnly five hours, at the mostā€¦ It was meant to be taken in sips. Notā€¦ā€

Kineraā€™s ears were burning. Her voice was clipped and sad, and she could only watch as Justice approached, and got verrrrrry close to Reese.
Not gonna comment on that, at all.

She did speak though, finally, to the assembled little group. Not just to Freddie, but to Reese and to Justice.
ā€œNo. I am an Alchemistā€¦ My power is Alchemy. Or someā€¦ I guessā€¦ Recreation of it. I can brew and craft just about anything, so long as I know how to press my magic into itā€¦ I justā€” I figured that if Reese wantedā€”ā€
She paused, wincing before continuing.
ā€œOr if she needed, by her own standards, she would just take a sip or two. It would have only calmed her downā€¦ Like an anti-anxiety medicine. Help her a little bit with the temper! I didnā€™tā€” I didnā€™t think she would just down the whole thing.ā€

Then Kinera was murmuring to herself, still staring at Reese. As if the girl was already a corpse, or a project. She watched as Artemisia strode up, spoke at them. And then recounted a procedure that Kinera had already tried.
Her stomach turned at the thought of it. Campfires would never look the sameā€¦

ā€œRegular medicines wonā€™t reallyā€¦ Help with this. Iā€™ve tried. Gave myself a massiveā€” Ahā€” Suffice to say I practiced on myself, and found that Pepto and charcoal couldnā€™t do anything. Itā€™s up to Reese to push through it, or ease the effects sooner with her own magic.

ā€˜S magic, after all. I guess. ā€¦ Iā€™m sorry, Freā€” Ishara. Sheā€™ll be fine in a little while. We ā€¦ Just have to keep moving. Justice? ā€¦ Youā€™re the one sheā€™s angriest at, and obviously, Freddie is the one she cares the most about. So stick together? I think some of the psychological effects will wear off if she has constant reminders about her.
ā€

And off Artemisia went, and into Kineraā€™s bag did the worried ā€˜Alchemistā€™ reach. Out came a book on human anatomy. College grade, already well loved, and with so many notes scribbled in the margins, that it was frankly ridiculous.

Key was no doctor. Not truly. She didnā€™t know if that would helpā€¦ She did know that eventually, it would wear off. She was 90 percent sure it would wear off in five hours! Orrr it could take seven, or eight. She hadnā€™t brewed it to be POTENT! So hopefully it wasnā€™t.
Christ.

What had she doneā€¦?!
They needed to keep moving, anyway. But she wouldnā€™t leave the girls behind, and the others could chew her for it later. This was her biggest concern right now.
Page after page flipped by, with Kinera ignoring most outside stimuli, focusing wholly on her notebook-textbook. Maybe she had written something down? Maybe there was a series of notes she had devised while learning how to control this BULLā€”
This gift. This gift, in two weeks. ā€¦ There had to be something. Please. Let there be something.

Freddie watched as Justice and Artemisia chimed in to help with Reese. Despite the perpetual chaos and strife that followed this group, they still paid heed to her - and Sibylla's - distress. A surprise to be sure, butā€¦ a welcome one.

"Luceā€¦ Artemisiaā€¦," she murmured, the charcoal pills resting on her palm. A warm and fuzzy feeling stirred within her, and her face brightened with a smileā€¦ even as Kinera corrected Sia. "Thank you forā€¦ tryingā€¦," Freddie said as she looked between the two rival princesses. "...Both of youā€¦" she nodded. "...It'sā€¦ pretty cool..."

Freddie patted Reese's shoulder. "Five hoursā€¦ hang in thereā€¦" Her brows furrowed. While the knowledge was comforting, the wait wasā€¦ not.

Behind Reese's vacant eyes, was a frightfully active mind. She looked around. Everyone was talking sooo... slow. And not the fun, drugged out way. More like she couldn't skip a cutscene. It gave her a lot of time to think.

She felt Lucie's breath on her lips as she delivered that brazen statement, "I'm the person you hate the most." Reese stared at her and, in the absence of her fury, tried to think of why. Then Artemisia came to her aid. She didn't hate Petunia. She vividly relived the moment she snatched her hand from the lawyer baby as she looked at her. Never touch me again, you pretentious bitch.

So why did I say that?

She gazed into the space between Lucie and Artemisia, where all their tension lingered. Ah, that's right, they hated each other, too. They all did. Because they tried to do better than each other.

And I hate them because I can't.

............No, you idiot, it's even further than that.

Reese roused from her spiraling self-reflection when Freddie patted her. She felt like she'd just climbed up a mountain and back. Lucie's face was still in hers. Kinera was reading. Lilith was near and concerned. Practically no time had passed.

"Do something about it?" she repeated. Yes, do what you should have done years ago! Her inner Reese encouraged.

Reese sidestepped Lucie and walked right past her. She took the bottle Artemisia gave Freddie from her as she passed, downing the entire thing as she walked then tossing it over her back (unintentionally) Lucie's way.

"Don't stop for me. Come on, Fred. You wanted to go somewhere," she said, grabbing her hand as she walked and smiled for her. Her eyes were still flat but something on her was shining. Her topaz necklace, glowing a brilliant gold.

Adrian nodded at the terms. Leave it to Thaddeus to be fair. Adrian knew Thaddeus' archery skills were fine, but he hadn't seen him use them for awhile for there hadn't been much of a need. The only other person that Adrian could think that matched his skill was Raiden since he was a hunter for the queen. Maybe he would challenge him again if the man was available in the near future. If Adrian was honest with himself, Raiden most of the time was the better archer.

Once one of the soldiers brought out weapons, Adrian merely sincerely denied one. He turned to Thaddeus.

"My apologies Sir Thaddeus. My own blade will be just fine since it's the one I use when the Queen sends me on missions. I appreciate the gesture though. It's a good thing I make it a habit to always wear chain mail with wrist guards."

Adrian never went anywhere without some means of defense. He could never wear too much, but to go into possibly dangerous situation, one must never go in without any means of protection. The best offense sometimes was a good defense. It was one of the first rules he learned when it came to fighting.

Once they made it to the place they were to spar. Adrian got into position.

"Ready when you are, my friend," he addressed him, ready to make his move.

Aurora Givens~Meridian O'Donohue~Lilith Evers
#5477B9~#46935C~#C71585

Meridian arched a brow when Silvia mentioned she was okay and only worried about the princes and Rhindeval. Meri wasn't born yesterday. She could tell there was more to it, but decided not to press . . . . yet. Thinking about the guys made her nostalgic. Besides Sia's twin brother, Appy, Meridian knew most of the other guys, some better then others. She remembered be determined to keep up with a few other active guys like Stephen, Roderick, Garland, and Richard. She was worried what they were like now since they'd been brainwashed by Ivelda. Meri couldn't imagine how she'd react if she had been brainwashed to serve someone evil. Hopefully they would be able to save them all.

Silvia asked her if she was ready to go back. Sighing, Meridian had no problems telling her how she felt.

"I don't know if I am. I am so use to 21st Century Earth, that I don't know how I can handle going back to was is basically the Middle ages. I am sure I'll handle it better then maybe a few others," she said looking at Justice and Sia, "But as far as dealing with Ivelda, I am scared. I keep wondering if our parents or Lilith couldn't defeat her, how will we? And even if we defeat Ivelda, I don't know the first thing about ruling a kingdom. I made a habit of ignoring 'princess' duties since I wanted to be outside. I still don't remember everything yet either, but I hope there's someone within the palace that will help in that area. I know my parents would never leave the palace unattended when we traveled. The Fairy Queen did say the palaces were sealed and safe from Ivelda, so that's one good thing."

Aurora felt bad for Sibylla. She hoped for her sake that once they got going again she would get better. She didn't know what else to say, so for now she merely patted the dark haired princess on the back. Aurora was never the emotional type. Her father use to say she took after her mother and grandmother in that sense for they were good at concealing their feelings but would find ways to get their emotions out.

"I am sure we'll be moving again soon. It looks like Mia is feeling better, at least I think she does."

Truth be told, Mia still looked a bit out of it.

Lilith listened as Kinera explained what happened. Reese really needed to not jump the gun so much. Kinera was obviously distressed so Lilith quickly addressed her.

"Kinera, it'll be fine. You made that for Reese with good intentions. Don't beat yourself up over this. Believe me, when I was in a School of Sorcery in Emperia, I couldn't tell you how many accidents I had. I once accidentally blew up a classroom. My teeth were black for a week," Lilith laughed at the memory.

Seeing Reese snap out of it, even though she was still affected by that potion, Lilith sighed and addressed everyone again.

"All right, break's over so let's get a move on."

It took them a little over a hour to get to the site. Lilith wasted no time and addressing the crowd again, waiting for them to get their breaths for it had been a bit of a rough trek through the last of the journey. Meridian was glad she had on bug spray and Aurora had to pull a few twigs out of her hair.

"You all did well getting here. Now the hard part begins. Here's how we're going to do this. I am going to open a portal for us to walk through, but the journey to Rhindeval won't be merely walking through it. We're moving through time and space, so it'll be like jumping into a drop. If any of you have watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, it's like a port key, very turbulent but thrilling. First thing I'll do is sent my own magical gear through it first. Justice, I suggest your luggage go next, at least the ones you won't be carrying. Rest of you hold onto your gear. We'll basically be falling out of the sky when we arrive in Rhindeval. The fairy queen will know immediately when the portal is open and will mask the magical energy this spell emits so Ivelda won't know it's us since she knows my magical energy. The landing will be bumpy, but we'll be fine since we've done it before when Ivelda banished us to Earth. I'll be the last to go through the portal because someone has to keep it open. Any questions before we begin?"

Meridian raised her hand.

"My memory of when we were banished is still foggy, but how did Ivelda well, 'banish us'? I don't think any of us would have willingly walked through a portal."

"Because Ivelda opened the portal right beneath us. We had no warning at all."

"Oh, well, I have no more questions."

"I don't have any questions either."

Seeing no one else had any other questions, Lilith turned to the men that came with Justice, "Gentlemen, thank you for your assistance in helping Justice. I'll go head and take care of Justice's luggage from here."

Centering herself, Lilith took her wand and started murmuring ancient words used to open a portal. It took a lot of magical energy to do so, and both Meridian and Aurora found themselves lending Lilith a hand in opening it up.

The instant a tear in time and space appeared in the sky, Eowyn felt it. Centering herself as well, she sent out her own magical energy to not only mask Lilith's magical energy, but to help open the portal more, at least on Rhindeval's end. She and her entourage were ready for Lilith and the princesses right outside the sealed enchanted forest in Lostein.

Once the portal was big enough for them to travel to, Lilith shouted, for the magical energies were great.

"I can only keep it open for a short time! So please hurry after all of the extra luggage is through it!"

While Lilith had her primary wand, she always had one for back up. So with her back up wand, she used it to levitate her magical gear, her own luggage, and Justice's extra luggage through the portal.

Meridian was ready for she had her own luggage in hand. Suddenly, Meridian's pendant lit up and before she even knew it, she found herself literally flying through the portal as she screamed.

"Meri!" Aurora shouted as she ran after her through the portal, luggage in hand.

Lilith waited as all the rest of the princesses went through. Just in time too because she was loosing strength as the portal started to close. Walking carefully to the portal, she broke the magical connection as she finally leapt through it.

Meridian was free falling while moving all over the place. It was like a burst of energy had consumed her and she couldn't control it. She kept a strong grip on her stuff for the ride was unlike anything she felt. Suddenly she felt drained though and accidentally lost her grip on one of her bags. Aurora ended up screaming the entire journey, recalling feeling this way when they first teleported to earth. She never liked thrills. But the trip itself didn't take long as they all saw a bright light up ahead as they fell through it. Soon they were falling through a regular blue sky as they head right for a treeline.

"They're coming your majesty!" Iris shouted with glee as she saw the humans coming down.

"I see that Iris," Eowyn smiled. Seeing Lilith, she closed the portal before using another burst of magic to 'catch' each of the princesses and Lilith before they hit the treeline.

When the girls landed, they would see that Lilith's gear and Justice's extra luggage were grouped together for Eowyn's subjects collected them as they fell to the ground.

Aurora was out of breath by the time she landed. Something had 'caught' her and she landed gently, but dropped to her knees as she tried catching her breath. Meridian had collapsed all together. She felt like she ran 3 marathons at full speed. It took Lilith a bit to recover also, but pretty soon she found herself being tackled by a very enthusiastic Iris.

"You're here! You're BACK! I knew you would return one day! Oh Lilith!" the fairy cried.

It took Lilith to realize who it was and hugged her back as she started crying too. She had done it, she was home.

Aurora watched in awe. She recognized the fairy too but it still surreal to see a fairy in the flesh in ages.

"Iris? Is that you?" she found herself asking, her voice a bit hoarse.

The fairy pulled back from Lilith instantly and turned to Aurora. Her eyes opened wide in surprise and she forgot that humans aged quicker then fairies.

"Oh my gosh! Princess Aurora! Look at big you've gotten!" she shouted before tackling the blonde princess too.

"Iris, really?" Eowyn interjected.

Remembering herself, Iris withdrew and she wiped her eyes.

"I am so sorry your majesty, I am just so happy!"

Shaking her head, Eowyn turned to the rest of her subjects there.

"Please assist Lilith and their highnesses. We'll get moving once they've recovered from their journey. We're near the seal."

Nodding the other fairies went to each princess to over them their service. Meridian needed help getting up and the male fairy who helped her gathered her stuff for her. Iris herself helped Aurora with her own things.

ā€We cannot become what we want
By remaining what we are.ā€ ~Max Depree

With the short break over, the rest of the trek was long but Althea was more than prepared for it. It was hot, yes, but she was accustomed to the sweltering heat of the outdoors and preferred to be outside over the confines of the indoors. Early on into the walk she had layered on some sunscreen and spritzed a bit of bug spray onto herself, knowing her fair complexion and delicious blood to be a reckoning for bad luck later on. She offered it to a few of the other princesses, happily giving it to those who agreed and internally rolling her eyes at the ones with snarky responses. Shielding her eyes from the glare of the sun with her hand, she peered up through the trees at the clear blue through the leaves above, taking in what would be one of her last glimpses of the sky that they said belonged to Earth.

The trip almost seemed to be over within an instant, they arrived at the clearing that quickly to her. She was used to hikes, having gone on them frequently over the years, and was sweaty and a bit out of breath but otherwise none the worse for wear. Her hand reached up and tugged down her mask so as to reveal her lips and free them for her water bottle, which she then gratefully gulped from. Lilith had already set up beforehand, it would appear, and Althea lingered off slightly to the side, observing from afar and listening in on the conversations that took place. Her eyes gazed upon Reese, ensuring that the girl was still holding up okay, and then the rest of the princesses so as to make certain of the same thing. She wiped at her forehead and neck with a small spare towel that she had brought along in her bag as she did, knowing her tendency to sweat a bit.

Lilithā€™s explanation was detailed and, well, enough for Althea to follow at least. Tucking her towel back into her pack, Althea hefted it up onto her shoulders a bit to adjust its weight as she prepared herself for the portal to open. As she did so, tilted her head back and looked up at the sky once more, drawing in a deep breath through her nose so as to inhale the scents of the Earth one more time before leaving. With a big exhale, she lowered her head and saw that Lilith had begun moving her wand, her lips forming words that made no meaning to Althea and the other princesses but all of the meaning to the magic within them. Instinctively she reached out, straining a bit to do so as she had been practicing so intensely over the past few weeks and was a bit drained, but pushed herself despite the fact in order to help Lilith to the best of her ability. Her fingers tightened around her straps, her knuckles whitening, and fresh beads of sweat broke out across her brow as she focused.

The moment that the portal opened, it was like the air was sucked out of the surrounding area, but not exactly. Althea could still breathe, so there was clearly still air, but there was almost a constricting feeling to the air, as though she were being stifled or an animal of some sort were laying on her chest. It wasnā€™t necessarily an unpleasant feeling, but at the same time, it wasnā€™t pleasant either.

Auroraā€™s scream jerked Sia from her daze, startling her and bringing her gaze to Meridianā€™s spiraling figure in the air, Aurora tumbling after her. Eyes widening in shock, Althea mentally said her prayers to the Goddesses above, grabbed her cooler, gripped her bag with her other hand, and charged forward after them - the only princesses that she could reliably say were on her team.

There were a lot of things that Althea was expecting when she ran headfirst through the portal. The surge of magical energy came as no surprise - she had calculated that much - and the brilliant colors were to be expected from basically every cinematic work in history involving magic or insane travel of some sort. What she was not expecting, however, was the exit.

When the portal opened and revealed a rather green, rather pretty, yet rather high treeline, Althea instantly felt her blood go cold and her heart plummet. Her stomach dropped and she instantly felt sick, any thrill from the travel whisked away from her in an instant as sheer terror swept through her body. Before they could make contact with the trees, however, they were seemingly caught by an unseen force and safely landed on the ground. For Althea, though, this gave little comfort as she was placed on solid ground on trembling legs. Her expression was one of sheer terror with tears coating her cheeks, and her already fair complexion was a ghastly sheet white. Her legs gave out as soon as she was set upon them and she collapsed to her knees, her palms in the dirt and her fingers curling in the blades of the grass. Small sobs shook her shoulders, ones of relief over the fact that was once more on the ground and no longer so high up, and the spots where her hands clutched shimmered a beautiful green-gold, spreading and snaking across a small perimeter and sprouting beautiful little wildflowers where it touched.

Althea was so absorbed in her relief that she didnā€™t notice the petite, cute fairy that approached her side at first. When she did, it was due to the woman gently placing a hand on her shoulder and an almost instant wave of calmness cascading over her. Her shoulders stilled and her tears slowed, her soft chokes silencing. Turning her now-rosy face upwards, her gaze met that of a gentle honey one which sparkled with an underlying sense of humor and wonder, adventure and excitement. Pointed ears jutted from each side of her head, encompassed by short, soft light hair that glinted in the beautiful sunny rays. Rosy cheeks sprinkled with a light splay of freckles across a dainty nose rested above a set of plump, pink lips, bringing together a cute, heart shaped face belonging to the one and only Aura, who was now fixating a patiently amused yet somewhat sad gaze upon the princess before her, hands resting upon her hips. A small smile crossed her lips, one that held happiness yet a hint of unhappiness to it.

ā€Hey there, Small Bite; itā€™s been a long time.ā€

As soon as the woman spoke, a new wave of tears broke through Artemisiaā€™s eyes, this one tears of happiness. She immediately rose and threw her arms around the woman, her joy evident in her actions. The woman laughed softly and hugged the girl back gently, lightly patting her between her shoulders for a moment before stepping back, holding her at armā€™s length and looking her up and down. Aura withdrew a small hanky from a pouch at her waist and used it to dry Artemisiaā€™s face, which was red and swollen from her tears but now held a smile of relief over seeing a familiar and loved face.

ā€I am so relieved that you are okay, Miss Aura. You have no idea what I would have done if you would not have made it,ā€ she breathed out, her features relaxing a bit. She couldnā€™t ease up until they had rescued Appy and the princes, but at least she knew that her teacher and long time family friend was safe and sound. Aura stepped forward and waved her arm out, bending forward at the waist, elegantly bowing with a flourish before Artemisia. ā€Mā€™lady, if youā€™ll entrust me to your care, I will gladly assist you,ā€ she exclaimed exaggeratedly, drawing a giggle of amusement from Artemisiaā€™s lips who quickly complied by offering up her cooler of goodies which the woman took in kind. With that taken care of, it seemed that the rest of the princesses were just about ready to go and recovered from the trip as well, so she prepared to leave, straightening her clothes and gear from the teleportation, ensuring that nothing had broken or been misplaced. Once she was situated, mask hiding half of her face once more, she hedged closer to Aura, preferring a familiar presence over the hostile ones that were those of the princesses as she awaited Miss Lilithā€™s and Queen Eowynā€™s instructions.

Freddie and Reese stood before the portal. Their hair and clothes fluttered against wind and magic. Freddie's face was placid, but heart thumped against her chest, like the drum roll before a great reveal. This was it. No turning back now. Slowly, Freddie's hand hovered atop Reese's. "Reeseā€¦" The former's pale, thin fingers were delicate to the touch as they slid between Reese's to entwine their hands together.

Freddie whispered, then tightened her hold. It was then that she noticed Justice, standing at the edge of the portal. There wasā€¦ vulnerability in the haughty Princess's eyes, and it stirred emotions within Freedie's heart. Something beyond pity or sympathy. "Luceā€¦!" she whispered, then reached out with her other hand.

Together, they fell.

And fell, and fell.

The wind rushed past Freddie. Her eyes were wide and twinkling as the fall took her breath away. Her hands were shaking, clutching to Reese and Justice like her life depended on it. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath...

And then a chorus of honks came. Freddieā€™s eyes shot open and turned to see... geese. Half a dozen of them, traveling in a flock.

SMACK

The birds honked and screamed in protest. The impact sent Freddie, Reese, and Justice tumbling in three different directions. "Waaaaaaaaaā€¦.!ā€ Freddieā€™s voice echoed across the skies. She fell faster and faster, almost too fast to survive, untilā€¦!

ā€¦.Until at once, everything slowed. Right before she hit the earth or - whatever the term would be in Rhindeval. "Ahā€¦," Freddie exhaled. Her shoulders rose and sagged. They were here. They were really here. Freddie bent forward and rested her hands on her thighs, catching her breath as she sawā€¦ fairies. Real ones. Small, cute, with flapping wings. "Whoaā€¦"

One of them floated towards Freddie. Her azure eyes twinkled with life as she zipped from one side of Freddie to the other. "Hi! Hello! Good morning! I'm Zuri! Zuri the zplendid and zfantastic! You must be Ishara- oh sorry, Princess Ishara of Emelas! I'm your assigned fairy guardian~"

Freddie blinked and stepped back with a cringe. Zuri's sky-high voice stung her ears. "I, uh..."

"Have you eaten well? Did you have your vegetables? Remember, breakfast is the most important zmeal of the zday! Zuri asked and asked as she zipped all over Freddie like a hyperactive wasp.

Justice thought maybe she would have an epiphany when she leaped into the portal or maybe activate her magical ability like Meridian or, or maybe unlock more memories of her birth family, Serein and her past as a princess. It was, after all, a once- twice in a lifetime magical experience. Instead the unforeseeable happened and she was spending this time hand-in-hand with Ishara and the unwanted tag along Reese. She was so confused there was no room to think about anything else, try as she might. Justice was about to open her mouth and complain, as she always did when she felt the least bit inconvenienced but "Luceā€¦!" It wasnā€™t an accident or a coincidence. Isharaā€¦ wanted to go with her. Why?

It was only when Isharaā€™s hand shook and held onto her tighter that Justice snapped out of it and refocused on their quest. Rhindevalā€™s sky, beautiful and the wind in her face, nostalgic. The difference between Rhindevalā€™s sky and Earthā€™s was great, like night and day to a child who had loved soaring them. But they were about to collide headfirst into a flock of geese which ruined the whole mood. ā€œCIRRUS!!!ā€ She screamed the name of her royal steed out of instinct but the call fell on deaf ears. The trio separated in the chaos of erratic wing flapping and annoying honks. Isharaā€™s hand was replaced with the beak of a distressed goose as Justice yelled at it. ā€Watch where youā€™re flying, birdbrain!ā€ amongst other things as the two fought before she considered it a win and set the goose free. Her body began falling even faster as gravity played catch up. ā€œNot the face, not the face!!!ā€ she cried out, waving her arms in front of her until plop. She landed safely on her back in a nice patch of grass. This was far from the welcome home she had in mind. ā€œUNBELIEVABLE. Is it too much to ask to get the trajectory right?ā€ She groaned, stretching her neck and tilting her head further back.

Then the sun was blocked out by a shadow as a human-sized fairy adorned in blue flowers, silver tattoos and with moth wings loomed over her. Justice blinked. The fairy blinked. They took turns blinking. ā€œWell, don't just stand there. Aren't you going to help me up?" He extended his hand, Justice reaching out but before their fingers could touch, he withdrew and a strong gust of wind carried her onto her feet instead. The princess steadied herself as the fairy left to check on her mountain of luggage without so much as an introduction or a word. Gobsmacked, she yelled after him with a minute's delay. ā€œThanks for NOTHING!" A small group of fairies giggled until she made a sharp turn to glare at them fiercely and they flew away after mentioning his name. Tovenaar huh?

She brushed off the grass and dirt on her clothes then remembered. "Luceā€¦!" They had split up. Justice observed as some of the other princesses were bonding with their friendlier fairies. It appeared everyone had made it safe and sound except Reese. Wherever that frog ended up, she could take care of herself. Justice found the silver-haired girl a little further away paired with a hyperactive fairy circling her endlessly. ā€œCut it out. You'll make her dizzy!" Justice butted in, pulling Ishara back gently by the shoulders.

Aurora Givens~Meridian O'Donohue~Lilith Evers
#5477B9~#46935C~#C71585

Queen Eowyn was quick to notice that one princess was missing and after counting, she figured it was Princess Euphemia. She had a few other fae go find her and soon they returned with her in tow, along with Nut. She also noticed that all of the girls stood out like sore thumbs with their attire, even Lilith. It was a good thing they would spend the coming days in the enchanted forest of Arendelle.

Seeing all the girls were ready, the queen instructed them, "Now, will all of you please follow me," before walking towards the trees

Meridian had fully recovered by then and she, Aurora, and Lilith grabbed a few of their things and followed, with their respected fae companions carrying the rest by using their magic. Faeries weren't known for their physical strength, so carrying multiple things could come in handy. Soon they reached the trees before Eowyn halted. This next part would prove to be a bit tricky. Oh taking the seal down wouldn't be too hard, but she would have to mask her own magic too. Murmuring ancient words, the queen carefully took away the seal. Only those within a mile of the seal would be able to feel it vanish, if they were to use magic themselves.

Aurora gasped at the immense energy radiating from the queen as the seal came down. Meridian was also surprised. Taking a deep breath, the queen turn the girls and Lilith.

"I would advise all of you stick near me please from here on out. This forest is filled with enchanted creatures and some are quite dangerous. They will be part of your protection here. The cabin within this forest is half a candlemark's time from here. The forest itself is like a labyrinth too so it's easy to get lost. There are marks along the way that show safe ways through the forest. You will learn how to use them in time. For now just follow me."

With that they all entered the forest. The trees were tall and easily blocked out most of the sunlight. The color of the trees varied from silver oaks to brown maples. It was foggy in certain areas too. Meridian and Aurora took cues from the fae and Lilith and kept quiet and alert. Meridian remembered being warned of these woods as a kid by both her parents as well as Richard's. Aurora got a similar warning, but remembered her mother telling her that one day she would have to brave these woods when she reached her majority to prove she was worthy of the crown of Traumet. She had asked why the test was here in Lostein and her mother said it was because the creatures that would test her would only be found here since they weren't found in any other area of Rhindeval. She'd never been told what those creatures were. She wondered if she would still have to do that. Probably not, but she couldn't help but wonder that.

About 30 minutes later they finally came to a bit of an opening where the trees weren't so close together. In the opening, the girls would be able to hear the running of a nearby stream and in front of them was the cabin, if one wanted to call it that. Aurora couldn't believe how big it was. Besides the main building, there was a smaller hut to the side and a garden on the other side, that was in need of help for it hadn't been tended to since the seal went up.

Lilith smiled and turned to the queen, "You were right about the size. My question now is has it been maintained?"

"Unfortunately no due to the seal, but that's an easy fix," the queen said before waving her arms again and magic dust settled over the area and fixed everything, including the neglected garden.

"There, it'll be up to you to keep it maintained and clean for the rest of your stay here, and that includes the garden. There's a well in the back that you can use for water and a nearby stream can be used cleaning yourselves up. No tubs for baths unfortunately. The only tubs here are for cleaning your clothes and dishes. Why don't you girls put your things away really quick and then come out back near the well. I have a few things to tell you before leaving. Some of you will have to share rooms. Oh Lilith, there is a place for a magic study. I'll have my subjects bring your cauldron and other things there."

Nodding, Lilith waited for the other princesses to go inside before entering the cabin herself. Meridian and Aurora scoped out the place and saw there was a kitchen, living room with a fire place, and dining room. The rest of the place was rooms, most of them bedrooms. Sadly there were no restrooms. After having put their stuff in their new rooms, Aurora and Meridian head out to see Lilith talking with Eowyn.

"Um, your majesty . . . uhhh . . . question. . . . say I need to take a . . . tinkle, where would I do that? I remember having a pot when I use to live here." Meridian asked, obviously uncomfortable talking about such things.

Eowyn smiled and giggled before saying, "The stream dear, but there are special cloths in the kitchen area. If you recall, they clean up easily in water. There's plenty of private areas around the stream too."

"Oh okay. Wow, this IS going to be a big adjustment. No running water or electricity."

Aurora merely shrugged. She hoped she'd be able to adjust to living this way again.

After all the girls came outside, Eowyn spoke up again.

"Now, down to business. My subjects will get all of your measurements so you can have clothing fitting for residents of Lostein. Also beginning tomorrow, your lessons will begin. You will need to relearn about Rhindeval's history and geography as well about things about each of the kingdoms. You will also need to learn the ways of magic and fighting. I can also feel each of your magic potential for your bloodlines are strong. Few of my subjects will remain here to make sure you learn these things. It'll be up to each of you to take care of this place too and that includes gardening. My subjects will be making visits to supply you with things for now for your safety is our #1 priority. Any questions so far?"

Aurora raised her hand.

"Your majesty, do you think we can get traveling clothes made? I just have this feeling we're going to be doing a lot of traveling."

Eowyn nodded before turning to Lilith, "I am assuming you're going to want to try and save the princes at one point?"

"Definitely."

Both Meridian and Aurora nodded, each with a serious look on their face.

"Well, then you'll probably want to know what they currently look like then. Iris, come forth please?"

Without saying anything, Iris came forward.

"When was the last time you saw Prince Niklaus?"

"Four months ago. It was when he took that drink that keeps him under Ivelda's spell."

"And you've been keeping an eye on all of the other princes recently?"

"All except for Prince Richard and Garland, they've been gone these past few weeks. I did see both of them 4 months ago though when they got the same drink."

"Good, I need your bring for those memories of all of them so I can project their images to Lilith and the princesses."

Nodding, Iris stood still while Eowyn used her magic on the faerie.

"First Prince Richard." the queen said as an image of the red-headed prince appeared before the group.

Aurora gasped seeing him and Meridian whistled.

"Someone certainly had growth spurt."

"Now Prince Niklaus," the queen said before changing Richard's image to that of Ishara's brother.

Aurora felt something was off as she looked at the grown up Nik. He looked a bit demented by her eyes. She looked at Ishara to see her reaction of seeing her brother for the first time in years.

"Okay this next one will be a bit of a shock since he is cursed, but next is Prince Garland," the queen said before the image changed to the monstrous form of Garland.

Both Meridian and Aurora gasped in shock and even Lilith replied, "Ivelda, how could you?"

"Is there any way to change him back?"

"Yes, but it would have been too risky to change him back while he was still under Ivelda's spell. Ultimately it'll be up to Garland to break the curse that's over him. He's been like this for several years now. We'll move on now. Next is Prince Rue."

Aurora, still horrified by what happened to Garland, did her best to focus on the figure of Rue. It didn't surprise her in the least when he appeared with a mask on. Aurora could barely recall what he actually looked like for he always wore his mask.

"I take it Prince Rue is always wearing that mask? It's very distinctive."

"Yes, none of my subjects have yet to see him without it. Now for Prince Stephen."

When Stephen's image appeared, both Meridian and Aurora thought something was off, but it wasn't until Lilith ask Eowyn, "Where's his tail and ears?", did they remember what was up.

"I don't know, he might have hidden them or . . . " the queen said, but couldn't finish.

This caused Meridian to curse and even Aurora to get a bit emotional.

Sighing, the queen continued, "Next is Prince Rukaiyan."

Aurora and Meridian both grinned a bit. Ruka hadn't changed that much in appearance, besides becoming older and more handsome.

"We're almost done Iris. Next is Prince Viliame."

It took a lot of concentration on Iris's part recall all the details of each prince in order each of their images to be clear. So she was hardly aware of what was happening around her. She wished she could see the reactions of each of the girls as they saw the princes again.

When Meridian saw Viliame, she couldn't help but say, "Look, Silvia, I think Vily is taller then you."

"Two more left. 2nd to last is Prince Roderick."

Meridian couldn't help but laugh when Roderick appeared.

"Wow, he still has that pink hair."

"That's not very nice, Meri. Roderick couldn't help his pink hair anymore then you could help your green hair."

"True, but he once said his pink hair was a phase," laughed Meridian.

"All right now Princess Meridian, that's enough. We lastly have Prince Apolloyon," the queen said before finally showing Artemisia's twin.

Aurora couldn't help but blush when the image of her old crush appeared. Meri saw it and giggled. She smiled fondly at her cousin as she looked at Sia. Soon, Eowyn ended the spell and Iris gasped for breath, feeling a bit light-headed. Aurora quickly assisted her to make sure she didn't fall.

"At least they're all alive and appear to be in good physical heath, considering things. You're majesty, you said you were working on a cure to counter the effect of my sister's spell over them. How long until that's ready?"

"About two weeks. We're making enough for each prince and I'll send it over to you when it's ready."

"That's good. Anything else you girls like to know before the fae get our measurements?"

Oh yeah... the boys.

Reese squatted as Eowyn conjured up the images, holding herself back from dry retching. She'd been thrown around and beaten up emotionally, physically and mentally in such a flurry that she hadn't caught up with it yet. Man, she was just starving...

It was Richard first. Reese blinked her bleary eyes up at the mirage. Talk about a glow up. Puberty had struck the reedy kid and grew him into the gentleman he was always trying to be. Lostein's prince... ah, that was a Kingdom that hers regarded with respect - something Emperia didn't do often. If they weren't guided away from the prospect by Iddris's wisdom then Queen Isadora would've tried marrying Euphemia into the Livingstone lineage, she always said as much, either that or wait for Serein to produce a male -

Her recollection was brought to a violent halt as she was confronted with the sight of Niklaus. "What the hell," slipped from her lips without thinking, her hand falling away. Niklaus had always felt wrong. He never spoke, and his eyes were vacant, but ... she'd prefer vacant to whatever psychopathy that was going on behind them now! She jerked her head up to Freddie beside her, then guiltily looked away, not feeling like she even had the right to hold her hand through this, after trying to convince her not to come back.

Reese didn't show her shock at the appearance Garland's new mug. She gave her old nemesis a glance and went back to picking at the grass. "What are you all on about," she mumbled, "He looks just like I remember him."

She kept her head down, picking grass, through all the rest. Only sparing glances, even as her heart cringed for some of them. "This is goddamn torture," she grunted under her breath, only loud enough for Freddie to catch, as Stephen's projection shimmered away. There was something about them, each and every one, that made her stomach churn and forget how - BLOODY starving she was, just for a moment. It was plain in Niklaus, but it was the same for the others. Their eyes. There was something wrong about their eyes. They had that kind of dull glint in them that she'd seen before, when the high wore off at a party she shouldn't have gone to, down alleyways she shouldn't have cut through, after street races she wasn't supposed to have won.

Killers.

Each and every one. ... But Rue. She couldn't see his eyes behind the mask, maybe, maybe... And yet her chest felt heavier with dread for what laid beneath it, than it did flutter with hope. He had already managed to keep his soul through so much that wasn't hers to share. He was so much stronger than her. If Ivelda took out the spark that had kept him so strong and twisted him into something evil just like his...

"I've got nothing," Reese declared when Lilith asked for questions, standing up and brushing down her jeans. "Wait, actually - can you quit calling me Euphemia?" She looked very smugly over at Lilith and Eowyn. "Now I've asked, and now you're an asshole if you keep doing it." Checkmate, motherfuckers. Reese pointed at Aurora as an afterthought. "She gets to say Mia. Anyone else, I'll kick your teeth in!"

She turned to walk to the kitchen that was begging for her (Nut was too absorbed by her reflection to follow, or have any idea of what was going on), but paused, right beside Kinera. "... You know, if you don't like me, just say it," she murmured just for her ear, "Don't try to hide it in a bottle."

Freddie stuck close between Reese and Justice. The latter had helped her out with her overbearing fairy, and she wouldnā€™t soon forget it. She clapped her hands lightly as Queen Eowyn conjured images of the Princes. ā€Oh, I loveā€¦ boys,ā€ Freddie mused, looking at Justice with a cheeky grin. ā€Most.... of my customersā€¦ are boysā€¦ā€ Her smile faded. ā€Of courseā€¦ that means most of my customers get really rowdyā€¦ when theyā€¦ stiff me...ā€ The lavender-haired girl laid a hand on Reeseā€™s shoulder. ā€But thatā€™s why Reesieā€¦ has my backā€¦ā€

The faces appeared one after the other, and with them came the names. Richard. Niklaus. Garland. Rue... Stephenā€¦ Rukaiyan.

Viliame.

Roderick.

She remembered these names and faces, butā€¦ little else. This was the closest she'd ever even seen them, away from that tower with dust and ash that was older than her.

Well, except for Niklaus.

Her gaze fell as she recalled him. How he stole all of her parents' time and attention. How they doted on him, cared for him. Loved him. Niklaus, Niklaus, Niklaus. He was all they ever talked about. And she hated him for it. Freddie cringed. Hate. It was not a familiar feeling. Perhaps to Ishara, but not Freddie.

"This is goddamn torture."

Reese's words snapped Freddie out of her melancholy. Immediately, she lowered down beside her friend and gave her a hug. Freddie wondered what it was that distressed Reese. It couldn't have been the same thing that upset her, but it didn't matter. Freddie pressed her cheek against Reese's back, and understood.

And then came a great and terrible screech. A high-pitched caterwauling that made the glass shiver and the birds flee for their lives. Zuri was there, her hands on her flushed pink cheeks, and her eyes big and starry.

"Oh. My. God, look at all these ZBOOOOOOYS!" The fairy zipped from Justice, to Artemisia, to Sibylla, so fast that it looked like she was teleporting. "Apollyon's zsexy eyes, Viliame's zsilky smooth, jet-black hair, and- oh, that Thaddeus! such slender, zzzscrumptious body!"

The fairy was floating, bobbing up and down across the air in her own ecstasy. "Ohhh~! You Princesses are so luckyā€¦. I have to zcontend with admiring from azfar!"

Freddie sighed and whispered to Justice, deadpan. ā€Can we trade fairiesā€¦?"

Korgan's consciousness drifted. He laid there, exhausted, bloodied, and covered in ash, content to sleep away his troubles, and dream of wenches and their untamed bosoms...

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!"

...But fate had other plans. Ivelda was there. And so was Tyann and Thaddeusā€¦ as well as the Queen's furious and inevitable judgment.

"Ahā€¦ my Queen," Korgan stirred awake. He shifted amidst the rubble to get a better look at her. She was right, of course. He couldn't see it right now (and he'd rather not), but judging by the state of the docks, the Razorback wasā€¦ most definitely screwed.

The Raid-King lumbered to his feet, and debris tumbled off his shoulders. "Aye, aye that's fair." His voice was hoarse, and completely drained of energy. As if some of the ash were stuck in his throat. They probably were. He limped towards Raiden with a grin. It was far from a friendly smile; one with more teeth than lips. "I hope you like fish, Raiden. You're gonna smell like one for a while."

The Raid-King picked the Queen's archer from the rubble and carried him, bridal style. He limped with every step, but the little respite he had would be enough to carry him to the infirmary.

Korgan's hulking form paused a few steps after he passed by Thaddeus. "Hey, Thads." He looked over his shoulder and gestured with a finger. "You got something on you."

Korgan waited for Thaddeus to react. But he couldn't hold his smile back for long. "It's a stick. Up your ass."

With a raucous guffaw, the Raid-King left the scene.

ā€Sometimes,
Remembering hurts too much."

The trek to the cabin wasnā€™t difficult, and Artemisia spent it chatting with her long-lost beloved mentor who had been akin to an older sister or an aunt to her, at least when it was safe to do so. Auravale filled the princess in on anything that she wanted to know - at least to the best of her knowledge - of what had happened over the years since the Evil Queen had taken over Rhindeval. The fairy did not miss the fact that the still young princess held a notepad in hand as they walked, taking notes on what the fairy was saying as well as their surroundings while ensuring to keep track of their path by sketching it out as they walked. Ever the arduous student it still seemed, the fairy thought with a mixture of amusement and melancholy.

Artemisia enjoyed the relief that Aura gave her as she carried her large pack, seeming to have no reaction to the weight of it given her capabilities. She stretched as they walked, taking notes and enjoying the surroundings despite their ominous outlook. She could hear the rustling of wildlife around them, be they predator or prey, and at some point she opted to bend down and remove her boots entirely, preferring to feel the ground between her toes. She cared naught for the dirt that clung to the bottoms of her feet, but instead simply enjoyed the comfort that was Mother Earth. It was difficult, but as she did she focused on control. It would be best to start training her abilities sooner rather than later, given their circumstances, she reasoned, and control would be a key factor in mastering her power. Despite the urge for her magic to connect with the ground that touched her feet with each step, she concentrated on not allowing the bond to fuse, but instead enjoying the soothing scent of the trees and plants filling her nostrils as they moved forward cautiously, careful not to draw too much attention to themselves.

When they finally arrived at the cabin, Artemisia was barely able to contain her gasp over the beauty of the massive yet exquisite home that sat before them. Her excitement only further bubbled when she spotted the nearby garden - albeit it malnourished and in need of work - and had to force herself to refrain from beelining straight for it. A few moments later, however, Eowyn flicked her wrist and the entirety of the estate seemed to undergo its own immediate spell of a sort, somehow going from dusty and in need of a good cleaning to beautifully well-kept. At the Queenā€™s mention of maintaining the household, Artemisia perked up a bit, her eyes fixated on the newly renovated garden in barely contained excitement.

A short while later they had done a quick exploration of the cabin - if one could call it that - and rid themselves of their bags in their rooms. She found herself sharing a room with her newfound cousin, Meridian, and after an awkward moment of dispensing their bags they went back to exploring and finally made their way back out to meet one final time with the fairy Queen.

Over the next several minutes, the Queen relayed information to them that they would need and for the important points Artemisia made sure to write them down as the woman spoke. She stared intently as the ethereal woman began to summon images of the lost princes, imprinting them in her mind and grateful for her photographic memory. She would sketch them out after this little meeting, while their images were still fresh in her mind, so that there would be no issue with them questioning whether or not it was the correct person.

The Queen began with Richard, and when the princely fellow appeared before their eyes, Artemisia stared in surprise. He had always been rather cute as a child, and even as a young boy had held a stately air that made those around him confident in his royal abilities, but the young boy had grown into quite the young man. The next was Niklaus, Freddieā€™s younger brother, and the moment his face appeared she felt a chill run down her spine. The eyes that stared down at her bored into her soul with a haunting quality, one that could only be named as pure madness. Goosebumps pricked her skin and she found herself rubbing her arms to warm them, uncertain of how things would go should they succeed in rescuing the boy. He was clearly deranged, and that could only be helped to the extent that he was willing to allow it.

When the image shifted from deranged to mutated, Artemisia was unable to hold back the gasp of shock that escaped her lips. Garland, once a mischievous yet charming boy, was now no more than a monster. Her hand raised to her lips and she felt tears prick at her eyes, her heart aching tremendously. ā€That evil witch,ā€ she whispered, her fingers curling into a fist as her blood began to simmer. The rage faded as Eowyn mentioned that it was possible to return the prince to normal, and a bit of hope swelled within her.

Rueā€™s hidden face appeared next, none to the surprise of Artemisia. She would have been more perturbed had his face been revealed, given his passionate compass when it came to never removing his mask. As she studied the mask, she attempted to see his eyes as best she could behind it, and saw only the faintest glimmer of them beneath before the image shifted to reveal Stephen. Although the man before them held a slight smirk and the aura of one who was confident within himself, the dark glint that was hidden within his eyes followed the trend that seemed to be within each of the princes thus far. At the mention of his missing tail and ears, her eyes flicked to each spot in turn, her internal alarm bristling. Her heart twinged in a similar way to when Garlandā€™s face had been shown, and she found herself gripping her amulet at her chest for comfort as she blinked back her tears. Ivelda was cruel, she knew this from the womenā€™s actions towards their parents - but for her to have done such a thing to Garland, and now Stephen - it was too much.

Following Stephen was Rukaiyan, who had grown to be charmingly handsome, yet again, when she met the eyes within the picture, she could not fight back the shiver that went through her body. Each one held a somewhat deranged look, hidden in the depths of their eyes and seemingly their souls, and it made her hurt for them. Viliame followed Ruka, and his bland expression caused the hairs on her arms to raise. Charming he seemed, yet there, again, was that insane glint to his gaze. When Roderickā€™s face appeared, she found a small smile crossing her lips. The boyā€™s hair had always interested her, and she remembered trying to touch it when they were small children and him batting her hands away until she cried, at which point Apollyon would chastise Roderick for being too rough with a girl.

The thought of her twin wiped the smile instantly from her features. There were no other princes left, so it was of no surprise when his face was thrust before their very eyes, and yet she was unable to contain the small sound that escaped her throat - a mixture of a sob and a laugh, yet choked in a way. After so many years of being apart, and the last time her having seen him they were both so very small, to see the one person who mattered most to her in any world, be it Earth or Rhindeval, was enough to bring her to her knees were she a weaker person. Instead, without realizing, she reached forward as though to touch the image of her brother, the tears that were once trapped in her lids now escaping the corners of her eyes and trickling down her cheeks. ā€Appy,ā€ Sia whispered, her lip and hand trembling. Her heart twinged painfully when she finally met his gaze, having been simply taking him in as a whole until then, and saw that same familiar deranged quality that was so frequently found in the other boys. Her legs trembled a bit and she reached out to grasp Auravaleā€™s arm, who helped to steady the princess with a concerned expression on her face.

His face was gone with a flourish, and Artemisia found herself turning away from the group to wipe her face, Aura simply facing towards her Queen so as to give the princess a moment to collect herself. When she finally turned back, she cleared her throat and raised her hand a bit timidly. ā€I have two questions - or I suppose requests would be a better term. If possible, I would like to be in charge of ensuring the garden stays up to par, and also,ā€ she paused, flicking her gaze to the fairy Iris, ā€I would like to ask if Miss Iris would be allowed to work with me to ensure the accuracy of my depiction of the princes.ā€

As soon as she finished speaking, she heard a shriek which startled her, and suddenly there was a fairy in her face, rambling about her brotherā€™s features. At this mention, Artemisia felt herself bristle a bit, her cheeks reddening rather quickly. She moved to approach the small fairy, her anger rising, but felt a small clasp around her wrist and an instant wave of comfort wash over her. At the touch she turned and glanced at Aura, who simply gave her a look, and after a moment she sighed and nodded, taking her hand back from the woman.

At this point she was tired. They were not a team and in fact acted far from it, and so far the rest of the princesses have done nothing but drain her energy. All she wanted to do was lay down and go to sleep, but she knew that there was no time to waste. With that thought in mind, she gave one last glare in the small fairies direction, her disdain evident in her features, before she turned and left the room without another word, her overall frustration with the entire group clear in her stride, and with Auravale sheepishly yet dutifully following behind her.

Once she was back in her room, she rummaged through her bag as Aura eyed her curiously and wordlessly from the doorway, interested in what the princess planned to do. When Artemisia withdrew a pouch and a decently sized booklet, she quirked a brow but simply followed the girl from the room and through the cabin, out into the now beautiful gardens. There she found a spot in the shade below a tree, and she stretched out, allowing her magic to relax into the ground around her as Auravale fluttered up into the tree to sit on the branch and observe from above. Small, pretty wildflowers sprouted around her body where it touched the grass, moving outward just a few feet. Artemisia opened the pouch and flipped the booklet to a blank page, revealing what was clearly a sketchbook and not a booklet at all, she withdrew a basic looking blue and black pencil, and set to work on sketching the face that was freshest and most important in her mind - her brothersā€™.

Hex Code: #778899 "If you rock the road with me then we can be together." - Bonnie McKee

Wood. Justice looked up at the cabin theyā€™d be staying in with sheer disappointment.. Even after Eowynā€™s magical touch restored the cabin, hut and garden to its original glory, she was not pleased. ā€You couldnā€™t even make it a wooden castle and you call that MAGIC?!ā€ Justice blurted out, clutching onto the sides of her head as a headache started to form imagining how she was going to 'live' from now on.
ā€Oh, how charminglyā€¦ rustic.ā€ she muttered under her breath sarcastically as no one else had any objections to their new living quarters. Did they not care about termites? She sighed aloud as the last princess to head on in with her things. If she was an arsonist and had somewhere else to go, sheā€™d set the atrocity ablaze...

ā§– ā§—

"Now, down to business." Justice rolled her eyes as Eowyn addressed all the princesses. She had no intention whatsoever to help maintain the place but she understood the importance of fine clothes and a good education. When Eowyn began to speak of the princes however, her interest was piqued and she ordered one of the idle fairies to bring her a chair-or-something posthaste. Once the stool had arrived, Justice sat down in the front not wanting anyone to block her view.

ā€Oh, I loveā€¦ boys. Most.... of my customersā€¦ are boysā€¦ā€ Justice raised an eyebrow as Ishara shared with her a tidbit ofā€¦ personal information. The fellow princess was usually a quiet sort that her opening up was unexpected. Justice didnā€™t know there was a ā€˜bondā€™ falling into place. ā€Oh?ā€ā€Of courseā€¦ that means most of my customers get really rowdyā€¦ when theyā€¦ stiff me...ā€ The lavender-haired girl placed her hand on Reeseā€™s shoulder, Justice blowing her own fringe out of her eyes. ā€But thatā€™s why Reesieā€¦ has my backā€¦ā€ Her silver eyes darted away discreetly. She used to have mine and look how that turned out...
As the first prince was shown, Justice cleared her throat. As the heir to the Serein kingdom, she was going to have to eventually settle down and wed and who she wed, there was no room for error or misjudgment.

"Prince Richard." He had always been talented and brave. As children, he was like the kinder and more respectable knight in shining armor next to Reese. Although if he ruled by Justiceā€™s side, she would have to wear the pants because someone has to tell ridiculous ladies off and he was too gentlemanly to do it back then.

"Prince Niklaus." She cringed almost in unison with Freddie. He had his youth going for him but looked too far gone mentally.... Why did both of the Eldiel siblings look so darn tired though? Did tiredness run in their genes? Worlds apart and they had that in common still. Their features werenā€™t too different from her people of Serein so there was potential with a good makeover but there was nothing Justice could do about deranged. She wasnā€™t a therapist.

"Prince Garland." Justice waited thinking Eowyn must have made a mistake until she heard Silvia's small laugh and the vision was further confirmed by the shock of the others and their questions. Justice erupted into laughter with no sign of stopping... or pity. She couldn't take Garland seriously as a prince, if he was even worthy of being called that anymore... He was ruined and forfeited to anyone who wants him. "Ivelda has a sense of humor after all. Turn the pig-headed man into a pig." She stretched and counted it as a break from considering her options seeing as she didn't need to deliberate hard on this one. "He looks just like I remember him." Justice smirked and smirked some more towards Reese, her arms falling back to her sides. "So, you're still marrying him just like I remember?" she queried, crossing her legs. "You must invite me to the wedding. That's a kiss I don't want to miss. Mind the snout." She tapped her nose then chuckled with genuine amusement, her pearly whites showing.

"Prince Rue." Her laughter transitioned into a snort as she turned away, shunning the image as if he were present to notice. Although she was tempted to take another peek, she refrained. He fucking BIT her, his teeth were SHARP and it took DAYS to heal. Whatever they once had and could have been was forfeited tooā€¦

"Prince Stephen." As the others had already noticed, his cat ears and tail were not in sight. He also had a patch over an eye. She cast her gaze to where the taller girl stood on the brink of tears but was comforted shortly by Sibylla. Ivelda cursed Garland into a pig and had Stephenā€™s ears and tail chopped off? Wasnā€™t that aā€¦ discrepancy in her punishments? Justice continued to think with furrowed brows as her nails drummed the surface of the stool she sat upon. Well, he was not for her to worry about. He had been nice to her and was easy on the eyes even if he had ā€˜lostā€™ a few things but Silvia obviously cared more.

"Prince Rukaiyan." Blue hair, blue eyesā€¦ Justice clasped her hands under her chin. Blue was her favorite color. He had always been polite, quiet and gentle. Her parents adored him as did many other members of royalty. "Like Angelite..." she whispered to herself quietly, her pendant that dangled over her chest twinkling. She had no reason not to consider himā€¦ unless their reunion shows him changed unfavorably.

"Prince Viliame." Justice leaned forward a little bit more to get a better look and her nose twitched. He had the longest hair among the princes so far which suited him quite well and his neatened dark clothes weren't of bad taste either. A bit too skinny-looking though in comparison to her company of guards. His eyes... blue. Maybe if he switched up his diet, picked up some weights, and quit avoiding her like he did back when they were children.

"Prince Roderick." Justice hmm-ed on the fence about this one as she tilted her head sideways. Roderick was a good hunter even at a young age, had a backbone and chose his company wisely. The gifts extended to her were also the fruit of his labor. Out of everyone, it seemed like he understood her the most. However, his hair was pink. Noticeably so. Why did it have to be pink? It wasn't the most respectable of colors. Even Meri was already laughing!

"Prince Apollyon." She observed Artemisia as she was moved intensely by the appearance of her twin brother to the point of trembling, stumbling and clinging to out of all things... a fairy much smaller than herself for balance. Then how the girl had a sulky fit because of Isharaā€™s fairy ogling her brother...
ā€Can we trade fairiesā€¦?" Ishara asked. ā€'Reesie' has your back remember? Ask her.ā€ Justice responded without missing a beat as her eyes shifted to her own fairy in the distance. She didnā€™t even know if Tovenaar was her fairy all things considered. He hadnā€™t spoken a word to her! But she couldnā€™t deny he was competent in organizing her luggage from point A to point B. Maybe Eowyn assigned him to get back at her somehow. Justice wagged a finger to signal Isharaā€™s fairy to come over. ā€What was your name again? I could use a second opinion on which prince would look best with me.ā€ she asked to divert the small oneā€™s attention despite sounding too petty to do anything before.

ā€œIf possible, I would like to be in charge of ensuring the garden stays up to par.ā€ Justice shrugged, not having a problem with that. She could be the maid of the cabin if she wanted to too. But it was so predictable that meadowsweet would want the garden. "Wonderful. You can use fairy manure." Then she remembered Artemisia was part fae. "Or your own excrement might do the trick. Iā€™m sure you have a lot of it." she taunted with a careless wave as the girl left. "Brother complex." she commented, ruling Apollyon out of the equation. She didnā€™t want to endure one Evergreen let alone two of them.

Spotting Reese up close and personal with Kinera, Justice recalled that it was not long ago that she was up in Reese's face... Ick, why did she do that?

ā€'Reesie' has your back remember? Ask her.ā€ Freddie blinked. She looked over to Reese, and then her fairy - Nut, who seemed all too busy with herself at the momentā€¦ all too busy withā€¦ minding her own... business.

"You know, that'sā€¦ actually not a bad ideaā€¦"

Zuri's heart swelled when she saw Justice's summons. Without a shred of hesitance, she zipped in front of the princess, her wings beating at a pace that would put hummingbirds to shame.

"Zuri, the zplendid and zfantastic, at your service!" The fairy declared with a curtsy. Justice's question was a curious one - which Prince would look best with her? Which means their traits, their flaws, their personalities wereā€¦ irrelevant?

"Fufufu... you are planning to zwrap them around your zfingers? I like thatā€¦ in this war, we need willful Princesses like you." Beneath her starry eyes, something sharp and quite serious glinted.

Though it did not last.

"Anyway!ā€¦ based upon my zextensive knowledge of colour theory and semi-historical melodrama, I recommendā€¦ Zuri tapped her chin as she thought. "Prince zViliame! Can you see it?" Zuri hovered back as she held up her fingers to frame Justice from the neck up. "Your head. His chin. Your fingers, clasping his collar as your bodies pressed against one another. Together, you are the picture of elegance."

Zuri floated by Justice's ear, and whispered, "And you'll make sure everybody knows it."

It didn't take long for Iris to recover.

"Will you be all right?" Aurora asked as the faerie pulled away from her.

"Oh sure! That was just harder to do then I thought," Iris smiled as she looked around at the other princesses.

It wasn't long until Euphemia spoke up though, requesting to not be called by her real name.

"Uhh, sure but what can we call you then?" Iris asked the blonde princess.

"Probably her Earth name, Reese. I always struggled with Mia's full name so that's why I started calling her that."

"Reese huh? Well that's an unusual name,"

"IRIS!" Eowyn scolded her.

"Sorry! And I am sorry too Euph-Reese! It's going to take me awhile since I am use to your birth name. Been using it since your grandmother was born. Old habits die hard, you know?"

Eowyn sighed and Iris merely giggled. Her ears perked up when Artemisia spoke up, requesting to be in charge of the garden and then for her assistance.

"Both requests granted Artemisia. Is that all right with you, Iris?" Eowyn asked.

"Oh for sure!" Iris replied, curious of what the princess had in mind.

Suddenly Zuri got all frantic about the princes. It was obvious the faerie's behavior didn't amuse Artemisia, who soon left, with Auravale right behind her.

"Zuri, next time you gush about anything, make sure you don't fly directly in front of anyone's faces. One of these days, someone's going to swat you like a fly." Ewoyn told her subject before seeing Justice speak to the fairy.

Meridian watched the others, but in the back of her mind, she couldn't help but wish she had a sibling to be shown. She had seen the reactions of Sia and Ishara to their own brothers and wondered how she would have reacted. But Ivelda stole her of that.

Starting to feel overwhelmed, Meri asked Eowyn, "Can I unpack my things now?"

"Very well. Rest of you are free to unpack. My subjects, during this time, I want the princesses' measurements. Can someone tell Artemisia and Auravelle this information? I'll be discussing a few things with Lilith here, so if you need anything, we'll be out here." Eowyn said.

Meri wasted no time in going inside with her own assigned fairy following her. Entering her room, she saw Sia's things. She was fine with sharing a room with her. Without saying another word she went about unpacking her things with the faerie helping her.

Aurora decided to be the one to find Sia.

"I'll find where Sia is. She's probably in the garden."

Iris was quick to follow Aurora as the blonde walked off. Sure enough, Aurora found her in the garden area. The garden was a small one so it was easy to find her. Aurora coughed into her mouth to get Sia's attention.

"Sorry Sia, but Queen Eowyn wanted to let Auravelle know that she's get your measurements. It doesn't have to be now though since we're free to unpack at this time."

"Speaking of which, let's get your measurements now before I forget to do that little miss. Artemisia, come get me in Aurora's room whenever you need me, she's right next to your room I believe." Iris said before dragging Aurora away.

Aurora forgot how strong Iris could be. While Iris was very short at 4'3", she had a strong grip. Once they were back in Aurora's room, Iris wasted no time in getting Aurora's measurements, which left Aurora flustered since she had to remove ALL of her clothing. Iris ended up asking about her bra and thought it was fascinating since nothing like that had been invented yet. Aurora was relieved when she could put her clothes back on.

Back with Lilith and Eowyn, the faerie queen was quick to ask the sorceress, "Are you familiar with the markers of this forest?"

"I want to say yes, but it's been awhile since I've been here so my memory might be rusty."

"Well my followers who will be staying with the girls for the time being will help. Once I leave, I'll be contacting a few of the enchanted creatures of this forest so they can be aware of you, at least the ones who I know will keep an eye on the princesses."

"That'll be a relief. I can't thank you enough for all you've done so far your majesty."

"It's the least I can do. I just wish I could do more, like directly help you get the princes' back, but that would be directly going against Ivelda. It'll be up to you to get the princes back."

"About the princes, this cure your making. Will it prevent the princes from fall until my sister's spell again?"

"It should. It's why we're also making that potion too. I always test things out and a few of my subjects have volunteered to test the cure to see if it works. I'll tell you about the results when I am able. As I said before we're still working on the cure."

"That's good. Hopefully it'll work. Hard part will be to get the princes back. Do you know what Ivelda is currently doing?"

"Your timing couldn't be more perfect. Ivelda is about to leave for a trip around Rhindeval. She does this yearly to make sure her own seals and control are up, but she also tries to find ways into the kingdoms she doesn't have access to, especially the palaces in the kingdoms she does control. So I recommend the princesses learn about Rhindeval quick for now is the best time to try and save them. But wait until that cure is ready."

"Might I ask why the antidote isn't ready?"

"One of the ingredients is still growing. Normally it be impossible to grow this time of year, but my magic garden has the means to grow was is out of season, the catch it takes a little longer to grow. I had to use a few spells to make sure the soil was the right condition."

"Okay, that's good to know at least. I'll try not to worry about my sister for the time being."

The queen nodded and they continued their discussion.

ā€œNo. I donā€™tā€¦ Iā€™m sorry. I didnā€™t think aboutā€¦ How that would come across. I justā€” I thought that maybe, if you choseā€¦ ā€¦ No, thereā€™s no excuse. Iā€™m sorry.ā€

Reese scrutinized the woman up and down. She didn't want to draw the connection. But from the way she dressed, to the witchy potions, to even the way her car had smelled. Kinera reminded her of somebody she missed. That somebody also wanted Reese to change - she hadn't, and that made leaving Earth easier.

"Yeah," she said flatly, "Good. And if that 'gift' you gave Fred is anything like mine, if it screws with her brain chemistry, or whatever, you better make it disappear." She waved for Freddie to follow her while Zuri was distracted and stormed into the hut.

Reese dumped out everything from her paper bag onto her bed. It was impressive, really, how she'd managed to flatten and stuff her entire closet in there - but still, ultimately, pitiful. Everything else of hers that she hadn't managed to sell had ended up dumped on the curb for her neighbors to scavenge through. It wasn't like she could pay her rent on time and keep her apartment while she was isekai'd.

She plomped down on the bed next to her clothes, gnawing her way through an entire loaf of bread she'd pilfered from the pantry. Nut hadn't looked up from her own reflection to notice Reese was gone yet. For a brief moment, Freddie and Reese were fairyless.

And yet, Reese still looked miserable. She reached out for a blue box settled atop her clothes pile and weighed it in her hand.

"This is the only box of Easy Mac that exists in this whole world," she murmured, in a way Freddie could tell that whatever she was saying was definitely not just about macaroni and cheese. "Isn't that wild?"

Freddie set her backpack down on the bed. She looked around at the room which had been given to them. She turned towards Reese when the latter spoke.

"This is alsoā€¦ the only DSā€¦ in this worldā€¦," Freddie said as she held up her precious Nintendoga. "Kraft and Nintendoā€¦ should ask us to be their sponsorsā€¦" Freddie shrugged as she walked towards Reese, then sat down on her friend's bed. "It's a whole untapped market hereā€¦"

Reese laughed and wiped her eyes. Freddie smiled as she did, but it did not last. Those tears were there for a reason.

"What's wrongā€¦ Reese?" Freddie asked, her typically vacant eyes shimmering with a glint of concern. She reached out and laid a hand over Reese's own.

"That's it, Freddie."

Reese tucked her legs up onto the bed, crossing them without a care for her dirty sneakers. She fished her ipod out of her jeans pocket and tossed it onto the covers.

"When the battery runs out on this thing, that might be, like, the last time I ever hear The Blue Stones," she said, "There's no way to log into my Netflix-" Freddie gave her a look. "-your Netflix account for movie night. And the Cobra's not just locked up in Jo's garage, it's in another world. There are so many little things that were my life, that I didn't even know were a part of me and now they're a planet or, or, parallel universe away, and I'm just supposed to -"

Reese's hands waved around, searching for the end of that sentence.

"Just- get with it, I guess." She swallowed. "Get back to Euphemia."

Reese got off the bed and walked to the window, leaning against it and watching the flitting lights of fairies floating through the enchanted yard. She grimaced at them.

"I dunno. You all left family behind and I'm being a stupid baby about.. cheese whiz and a car that should be stripped for parts already." She rubbed the back of her neck, feeling the chill of truth creeping up it. "... I know she doesn't want me around anyway," it came out quietly, "But I can't believe I'm not even sharing a world with her anymore."
