When her powers are still stable, Nano has pitch black hair the color of the night, hints of chocolate brown only showing under a certain source of lighting. Her eyes are a piercing crimson red like Aurora's, but unlike her Nano's eyes are quite an obvious shade. While she is in her other form, both her hair and eyes are a light shade of blue.

S K I N T O N E
Her skin is still ebony white, not having being out for long. She might look uncannily pale, but she considers it quite normal considering her rare exposure to the sun.

F A C I A L M A R K I N G S
None in her normal form, but at times when she decides to stay in her other form she wears pale blue clips on either side of her cheeks.

S C A R S, B I R T H M A R K S & T A T T O O S
None. She has never been so much as hurt before, and even then her skin patches itself up quickly.

G E N E R A L A P P E A R A N C E
Nano in her so called 'daily' form is a rather average girl with pitch black hair, easily unnoticed among the crowds. Her only outstanding feature are her eyes, both a brilliant red hue. That was strange and inexplicable, there were times when she was suspected to be a monster. She often felt insecure about her eyes when she was younger, and still do to this day. They were always something to hide in order to blend in. In her android form however, she has pale blue hair and eyes, while the rest of her body seems to dissolve into the air in different pixels. She can float, with the many pixels of her form seemingly weightless in the air. Her android form has a ghost like quality, so that things thrown at her will go directly through her. In both appearances, she enjoys wearing long sweaters, though the one in her android form is quite obviously longer, the sleeves trailing past her hands.

● Cheerful ◌ Deceitful ◌ Childish ●
● Mischievous ◌ Fierce ◌ Impulsive ●

╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯

Cheerful and childish, there is never a time you can see Nano feeling down, not for long anyway. She always has a bright smile on her face, no matter how tired her eyes might seem. There is nothing that can lower her spirits for long, and she would always find a way to cheer others up. Being optimistic, she can crack a joke or pun in the most serious of situations, as if nothing has happened at all. That can seem annoying sometimes at missions for she never takes anything too seriously, but its hard to hold a grudge against her happy go lucky nature. Being childish, she constantly gives nicknames to anyone she meets, providing her own entertainment. Each of them are based on their powers, and though they might sound offensive, she means none. She is impulsive, always jumping into things without a second thought. Only depending on her instincts, she hardly plans unless she is specifically told to do something that way. After all, plans do have a chance of failing, so they are pretty useless to her. She is fierce however, especially when someone close to her gets threatened. It seems that he safety isn't the most important, always trying to protect others first. There are still many things Nano hides deep down, however, being deceitful as she never tells anyone the complete truth about herself. There are always little, harmless lies slipped in, so that they wouldn't know the whole truth.

Image

L I K E S

● Eating - She eats like there's no tomorrow, stuffing herself just in case it would be days before her next meal.
● Soft things - She loves to bury her face in them, and it gives her a feeling of safety and warmth that she had never known in her childhood.
● Touch - It tells her that she's still alive. She often touches things like it was her first time seeing them, and in a way, it was. Looking at everything with a air of awe, she likes feeling certain surfaces just to be sure that she wasn't still dreaming.
● People - Nano does not relish the feeling of being alone. She needs someone to watch her back, and she rarely likes to work by her own. After all, her body is vulnerable when's he is using her powers.
● Laughter - Another factor that tells her that everything is fine. True laughter coming from your heart is something that is rather hard to see these days.

Image

D I S L I K E S

● Rules - They are restrictions that she has learned to live with, but that doesn't mean she likes to live with them.
● Silence - It freaks her out, making her think that something has gone terribly wrong. Her imagination can go to many serious situations all at once, each getting progressively worse.
● Trust - If someone trusts her, it comes with a feeling of responsibility. It's better to not be trusted or held down, and therefore Nano dislikes being trusted or having to trust anyone.
● Tea - She finds the bitter liquid tasting like dirty water. Nothing can make Nano touch tea, no matter how many threats or bribes were used. She vehemently resists drinking it.
● Being helpless - Just standing there and not doing anything as the people you love get hurt is the most terrible feeling she can ever think of. Being helpless in the face of adversity is not something she ever wants to experience again.

Image
Image

H A B I T S & Q U I R K S
● Reaction - Touch her without warning and you would find a knife at your throat. The reflexes Nano had gained in her last sticks to her to this day, and no one can carelessly get into a meter radius of her without getting hurt.
● Weapon- She always carries a weapon around with her, even to sleep or any other activities. She honestly hates having to part with it, and that can lead to her blatant refusal to rest or do anything until it is returned.
● Sarcasm - She can be a little firecracker, constantly muttering snide remarks just under her breath. It's a habit she picked up to amuse herself, though sometimes others overhear.
● Biting - She chews on things absentmindedly, but has much more restraint these days because she doesn't intend to destroy the sleeves of her sweater.

S T R E N G T H S
● Self defense - Her instincts and reflexes make it hard for others to land a hit on her, and she is good at defending herself, dodging and blocking at the right times.
● Will - Nano knows what she is fighting for, and she would see it through to the end. She has a strong willpower, and nothing can ever break it.
● Energy - She seems to never run out of it, finding a way to preserve her energy for long periods of times. She hardly sleeps, and her speed and endurance in fights are often higher than the average human.
● Survival - Scavanging and other instints is something that she has learned and picked up long ago. Her will to live made her brilliant at survival, and you can throw her in a jungle without food and she would come out unchanged from before.

W E A K N E S S E S
● Noise - Loud noises scare her, she can always be found curled up in a corner with her hands tightly over her ears. Needless to say, thunderstorms are her worst enemy.
● Friends - Once she considers someone her friend, she tries to help and protect them with her heart and soul. It is rare for her to even trust anyone, much less consider them her friend, but once she does she would never give them up for anything.
● Sacrificial - She doesn't hesitate to put herself into any situation at all in order to save her friends, sacrificing herself without a second thought.
● Belief - While it doesn't look like it, Nano has little faith in her abilities. She is worried that she would let everyone down and mess things up, so she constantly refuses to do things because of her lack of confidence.

F E A R S
● Sleep - There is this certain fear in going to sleep, she is afraid of not being able to wake up again. It is rare to find Nano ever taking a nap, mostly collapsing out of exhaustion or still going on despite the lethargy in her body. Even if she does sleep voluntarily, her body is curled up into a compact circle, gripping whatever weapon she could get her hands on.
● The dark - She carries around a flashlight, or simply just escapes to her android form, the pixels emitting a gentle blur glow in the night.
● Death - Not here, not now. There are still many, many things Nano wants to do, and death would rob her of any chances to do so.
● Accostomed - She is terrified of getting used to peace and losing her edge. There is no guarantee that peace will last, and once she gets accustomed to it she might just lose her instincts.

There is something beautiful about the pieces of technology, how they all work smoothly together to create a whole.

User can manipulate technology and technological constructs, computers, robots, hardware and other devices that can be termed as "technology". Manifested as a special form of electrical/telekinetic manipulation, a special form of "morphing" which allows physical interaction with machines, or even a psychic ability that allows mental interface with computer data.

Users can control the flow of intricate machinery and can allow them to assemble or disengage their programming at will. Can operate most technology just by touching or looking. A variation on Electricity Manipulation, the user controls specific electrons and instructs them which items to engage or disengage. Some users may even be able to use the electric impulses to gently control smaller metal parts.

P O W E R L I M I T A T I O N S
● She cannot gain access to purely mechanical objects like clockwork, though she has been learning how to fix that as well.
● She can only gain access to that power in her android form, and in doing so she leaves her main body behind. While her android form can travel through the wires to fix the gadget, her main body is left vulnerable to attacks. She usually makes sure that she is in a safe place first before unleashing that power because of that.
● She is easy to attack when she is in her android form, and breaking the technology she is in can slowly tire her out. Her form is like a ghost, the conscience taking shape as an android, so as each technology she is in is destroyed, the effects are that she would lose quite a bit of her energy in the process.

H I S T O R Y
Born in the darker places of society, Nano was born to two rebellion members, and taught from young how to fight and steal. It was a way of life for her, and it is safe to say that Nano had never learned what true safety means. Every involuntary action makes her wary, because everything she knew was that if someone makes a movement toward you, it means hurt. Her young, impressionable mind had trusted no one and nothing, and even to this day she stays that way, adapting into the life she had been born to. However, it didn't mean that she doesn't know of love. Her parents loved their daughter despite the circumstances, and did their best to teach her the kindness of the world that is so rarely seen. The revolution group was protective of their smallest member as well, teaching her to handle firearms and to defend herself. To this day, the only safety and nostalgia Nano can find is ironically in firearms, the first weapons her parents taught her to handle

The day she found out about her powers was the day the mutants came. Sent to get rid of those who refused to comply, they just stormed in out of no where with terrifying powers. Nano was only five then, and she could only vaguely remember being hidden in a dark alley with a gun as the only family she had ever known was killed right then and there in front of her. All she could do was cry her eye out, looking at everything she loved being destroyed and knowing that she couldn't do a single thing against them. Their powers were too strong and she was too scared to do anything but watch. Unfortunately, her cries alerted the rest of the soldiers, and watching them come slowly toward her hiding place was the moment her powers activated. The soldiers came to her hiding place only to find a floating blue haired girl that seemed to be made up of pixels and another slumped in a corner, unconscious. Confusion ensued at first, but they realised what had happened soon enough, and Nano was carried away and handed over for training as the technician.

It wasn't easy at first. She lashed out at whoever dared to come near her, blatantly refusing to cooperate. It was only after many punishments and threats did she finally comply, realising that her efforts to resist will be pointless. And ten years later, after she had achieved control of most technological devices by altering electrical currents and travelling through wires, she was brought to Japan to meet with her new team.

With the world completely in shambles, and the government screwing everything else up, they decide to leave the job of handling citizens to groups of trained mutants. From birth, most of them have been taken by the government from families, isolated and trained to be the governments ideal soldier. Most groups have consisted of members older than the age of 20, but the government has decided to take another approach to this. They've created a group of much younger, more naive individuals, ages ranging from fourteen to eighteen. Whether this group succeeds or fails is entirely up to how they do on the field, but behind that much darker things have been going on.

Of course, the group knows nothing of this, completely ignorant to the corruption in the government or things that they've been doing behind the scenes. The roleplay will start the day after they've arrived at their Base of Operation in Tokyo. They have very little information about the others beyond each others first names, possibly by some miracle they'll be able to get along. Things will be pretty slow until they get their first mission from the government, maybe they could make good use of the free time they have.

THE ASSASSIN

"#9EABB4." ‖‖ #ABB49E
Image

The pillars of smoke wafted wildly into the black abyss above her head as she ran along that roof top, ash and other pollutants stinging at her lungs as her feet slammed into the ground mercilessly, carrying her to her destination with great haste. Fire licked at the world around her feverishly, and as the raven-haired teenager leaped from one rooftop to the next with a tuck and roll, the pressure wave from the exploding gas lines in the building she abandoned nearly knocked her off her feet and bits of glass tore at her suit as the building began to collapse. She didn't look behind her -- she had places to go, people to see.

Silhouetted by the full blood moon would be her target; the silver-haired boy with the red vest. He stood amass a pile of what appeared to be soldiers, popping his knuckles as he looked down at one in particular as they groaned. A grin, and a slight kick to the shoulder would roll them over, before the boy lifted his head, and turned to face Allison as her steps slowed. The look they gave one another in that brief moment would reveal all it needed to; they were far from enemies. Even amidst the chaos that surrounded them, love bloomed in the purest of fashions. The boy's gloved hand would reach up to brush across Allisons' cheek. But as he opened his mouth to speak... the scene immediately turned.

Eyes widened and jaw agape, the boys' expression would suddenly twist into a gaze of agonizing pain. Crimson would begin to stain through his vest, around the heart, and though he stumbled forward at first, into Allisons' frantic embrace, his weight would ultimately lead him to fall backwards, and Allison would follow suit, barely managing to catch onto the black ribbon around his neck as he fell into the fiery pit between the buildings below. Up until then, Allison hadn't heard a single voice, but as she threw herself onto that rooftop and reached into the pit, her own cries reached her ears...

"CAELAN!"
……… ……… ……… ……… ………
"No!" Allison shouted as she sat upright in her small bed, her wifebeater and the sheets she slept in soaked from cold sweat. Blue eyes wide, wild and streaming with tears, they darted about the room, dark from a not-surprising lack of windows, chest rising and falling frantically as she tried to regain her bearings, hand trembling as she reached up to scratch her fingers through her dark mess of hair after wiping at her eyes. Her real self; the bare appearance that was only allowed to be seen by those closest to her... or by those who wouldn't live to tell the world about it.

Slowly, Allison would throw those sheets off of herself, and twist to place her feet on the cold floor. As she groggily yawned and stretched, the tint to her hair would lighten and fade out to a light blonde and those orbs shifting to a honeyed gold as that illusion began to take hold, her brow tensing as she thought to herself, Damn it... damn it, damn it, damn it! Nightmares were still going to tear her apart, even after this reassignment. As Allison sat on the end of that bed, waking up, she thought over the events that transpired over the past few days:

Her handler seemed excited when he had given her the manila envelope with her first unsupervised mission; she was to report to a disclosed location in Tokyo, Japan, where she'd essentially be bunking with a rag-tag bunch of other operatives to essentially keep the peace. She had barely bothered to read over their names...

...Aurora La Rihavein, the leader... Remus Mackenzie, the second-in-command... Maria Ferraris, the hacker... Ino Omoiya, the resident medic... Nano Moore, Technician... Kurai Ryujin, strategist... and finally, Faustus Lehrer, the spy, and most likely the one she'd be working with the most...

... most of those names didn't mean anything to her, really -- it was the last one that had brought her pause, and forced a look on her face that was a marriage of relief and distress. Faustus, she knew from previous missions -- excellent at what he did, by all accounts, however, there was personal cause for the sad expression to fill her features when her thoughts began to wander.

Allison had arrived at the Base of Operations the day before, but she didn't really hang out to meet the others. No, she saved that for today, and as she pulled on her civilian attire, Allison plastered the best smile on her face that she was able to. Someone was sure to have heard her loud awakening and to come running, she figured. Might as well attempt to pretend it wasn't her. Stepping out of her room, Allison would force back any dark thoughts for now, stuffing her hands into the pockets of her hoodie as she turned to hunt down a bite to eat.

                                  ‒END OF‒
                         TRANSMISSION.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep. -Robert Frost

Imagine Dragons | Monster

ƊιαƖσgυє ƇσƖσя | Dark Red || Ƭнσυgнт ƇσƖσя | Brown

Identity Code | M 2007 IE 8692

You aren't a monster. You were meant for something great. . . I just know it.

Groaning and sitting up from his cozy place on the floor, Remus glanced around his designated room. He remembered protesting having a no outside visitor policy, which got him punched in the face. His little buddy had enough of Remus' games. It was like he went from one prison to another. He had never been a good boy, which is why he was here now. He never saw a need to bite his tongue to please his superiors. He'd always say what was on his mind, no matter who it offended.

Rubbing his temples he reached out and grabbed his white V-neck and slid it on over his muscular torso. He stood with pops and crackles, damn I'm falling apart. Remus remembered vaguely reading over his new teammates names. His leader was a woman. That was bound to be interesting, he chuckled as he slid on his jacket and kicked his door open. Hands in his pockets, door wide open, red mane in full glory, amber eyes glowing like a wild beast. Remus looked left and right down the hall, he liked to make sure no one was watching him. His past missions had taught him you're never safe. No matter who your with, who you trust, or where you are. . . Never safe.

He sniffed the air, he didn't smell anything off. Shutting his door he then made his new target something to eat, as requested by the loud growls coming from his stomach.

As he walked he tried to memorize as much as he could of his surroundings. Remus wasn't one to let his guard down, he had seen too many comrades fall because they were being lax. They relaxed for a moment and it killed them. He groaned internally, he realized he was probably the oldest one. He was working with teenagers, his worst nightmare. Sighing and running a hand through his mane he keep walking, hoping to stumble across food in the process. Or a little less rewarding, one of his new teammates. Maybe he'd find some good friends nonetheless. . . Or maybe he would make everyone hate him, the latter was usually how it went.

First day, a slap on the ass and a thumbs up to send you on your way. . .

───────────────────────

The entire flight to Tokyo, Japan from Paris, France was long and monotonous. Taking approximately eleven hours and forty minutes, most of her trip was spent sleeping. That, or organizing files that she would need. At this point, she hasn't even opened the manila envelope that was handed to her, which contained her mission statement and the names of those who she'd be working with for quite some time. Of course, she was flying to Tokyo on a private, military owned jet. They wouldn't allow any other form of transport as far as she was aware.

'Hopefully we'll be landing soon...' she thought to herself before glancing at the manila envelope lying on the seat beside her. The sun was slowly starting to rise, peeking out from just above the clouds and shined its light into the aircraft's windows. With delicate fingers, she picked the envelope up and closed the steel clasps holding the envelope shut. Sliding the papers out of it, she placed the manilla sleeve down and went on the read the information off the papers that were in front of her.
Mission Briefing
La Rihavein, from here on out, you are to be a part of our new unit that is being deployed in Tokyo, Japan. This unit will consist of seven other members, all of them around the same age group as you, youngest being fifteen and oldest being twenty-three. You'll be the leader of this unit, and will be expected to lead them accordingly. The names of these operatives and their positions on the team and their ages are listed below. If you have any further questions, contact NWG Headquarters as always.

Names of Operatives
Remus Mackenzie - Second in Command - Twenty-three
Maria Ferraris - Hacker - Eighteen
Ino Omoiya - Medic - Sixteen
Nano Moore - Technician - Fifteen
Kurai Ryujin - Strategist - Seventeen
Allison Bennet - Assassin - Seventeen
Faustus Lehrer - Spy - Eighteen

"They seem like an interesting bunch..." she muttered to herself as she read the list of names. She could always request more information on them, it wouldn't be that hard to convince the higher ups. Though she eventually decided against it, and continued to sift through the other papers that were packed with the mission briefing. All the other papers where just extra information, none of it that needed immediate attention. She soon received notice from the pilot that they'd be landing shortly from over the intercom and returned the papers to the manila envelope. Once they had landed, they drove the rest of the way to B.O., where the rest of her Mission Briefing had been given to her.

The ride was short and quiet, a relief given the length of the airplane ride there. During the ride she'd noticed that it began to rain, even though the skies earlier in the morning before showed little to no signs of it. They shortly reached the destination, and she was dropped off. Yet, she had decided to stay outside, and although it was pouring rain, she was interested to see if anyone else would show up today.

╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
Ino Omoiya
╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯

"I'm here to help! Before you ask, no, I'm not a girl! Alright, let's get to work on putting your intestines back inside your belly."

Current Theme: Homecoming

A day prior:

”ETA to B.O. is five minutes. Get ready to deploy and haul ass to your required guarding positions. The APC’s driver voice crackled over the intercom as the vehicle and its cargo closed in on the destination. Within the chassis sat eight NGW soldiers, tired from what seemed to be a drive which had lasted eons. Some were murmuring amongst themselves while others sat primly with their rifles between their knees. Even through their opaque visors, Ino could notice each glance which just so happened to focus on him and systematically make a speedy retreat. Even the soldier manning the carrier’s main gun took a peek from his monitor once in a while.

Their wavering gazes were by no means unwarranted, after all, he was without a doubt the odd one out. There he was, in a notable smaller sized uniform lacking a helmet, in a vehicle full of grown men breathing lead and discipline armed to the teeth with rifles. All he had was a flimsy PM-9 holstered on his thigh. Although most recruits from his… ‘sect’ usually didn’t bear weapons, since his gift wasn’t exactly meant for offensive application, the boy needed some insurance. Throughout the entirety of the five hour ride from Kyoto to Tokyo they were forced to endure, not one of them had hazarded to asked him a question he had heard countless times. Perhaps he would get through this ride scott free without having to deal with the arduous and mind-wrenching ordeal.

”So… What’s a young maiden like yourself doing in the military?”

”Shit.” He thought to himself as a crevice formed between his furrowed brows exuding irritation.

”Seriously? Just four and a half minutes left, come on! Alright, try not to demoralize him too much. Just flash that smile and gently lay down the truth. And… go!” Ino looked up from the grated flooring and locked gazes with the soldier, then stretched an innocent smile across his face.

”Oh, sorry, I’m a guy!” Just like that, all of the whispering and snoring took a nosedive, leaving the entire cabin in silence. An awkward aura filled the cabin to the roof, even the driver was staring back through the small slit with his mouth agape. To ease the soldiers and evade a collision with a building, the mutant cleared his throat and spoke up, ”As for why I’m here, I’m your package. I’m one of those [i]special
soldiers, a bit on the young side, but I guess the higher-ups have a reason for expediting my way through boot camp and into the field. Now I’m here, reporting for service in Tokyo. Does that answer your question?”

The soldier who had queried the boy stared dumbfoundedly at him. It took a punch to the shoulder from his comrade to resurrect him back to reality. ”Oh. Um. Yes.” The soldier sulked back in his seat, drowning in embarressmant. His saving grace was the driver’s voice over the intercom. ”We’re here. Everybody grab your weapons and report to your assigned stations. Move it, soldiers!” The APC swiveled to an abrupt halt, causing all of the transportees to sway slightly to the side. They all quickly regained their footing and rushed their way out as soon as the bay door creaked open. Ino lingered for a few moments and waiting for the men to file out before taking his leave. He planted himself on the gravel road and scanned his surroundings. The T96 revved up its eight wheels and sped off through the base’s gates for another run. ”Well, better get to my quarters. Damn, those seats were uncomfortable.” He sighed and made his way into the base.

Today:

Ino drowsily woke up from his slumber and autonomously propelled himself into the morning routine. He had barely gained a few hours of sleep, since the mattress wasn’t much better than the seating from the prior day. The boy sat upright in his bed and ran a hand down his neck to rub out a few kinks which had formed overnight. A groan escaped his lips as he slung his legs over the bedside and got to his feet. He nearly fell onto his pretty little face but managed to recover his balance. Mornings were not part of his medicinal forte.

After a plausibly sluggish display of laboratory escapades and dressing himself, the finished product was a young teen with damp snow-white hair, draped in a monochrome black uniform, a slightly customized version of the common NGW outfit which was designed to fit his physique. In other words, they trimmed it down. A lot. Glancing at a mirror, the four bases on his back were given holes for breathing room, below them was another pair of unoccupied cutouts. A few people were set aback by the sight, as they some of the more physically expressed mutations, but aesthetics wasn’t a priority for Ino. Keeping his patients alive was.

The boy stretched out his frail body and gave a nod of motivation, ”Alright, today, it’s time to meet my team. And… go!” He didn’t know what exactly was in store for him. Perhaps he would rub his comrades off the wrong way, or they might like him. All Ino knew about them were their names and roles, but regardless, it was his duty to keep them alive and operational. The boy grabbed a pair of headphones on his way out and took the first step out of the doorway. His destination was still undecided.

With hand against cheek, Faustus let out a sigh and continued to gaze out and through the thick pane of glass that called itself 'window'.

Rainfall gazed back.

An accumulative total of one day had been spent at the base thus far, and Faustus was less than entertained. The day prior was mostly filled with travelling for him, and he assumed the same went for the others.

Personally, he had been too 'tired' to really bother with introductions, and found himself to his quarters immediately upon arriving the day before, besides, the names listed (sans one) hadn't really interested him any. And the person that the one name he recognized belonged to, well, let's just say he wasn't exactly mentally prepared to interact with her again so soon.

But was it really soon? It had been roughly six months since the incident, and Faustus wondered how half a year had passed so quickly. He lifted his cheek from the rest his hand had formed, shaking his head as he did so and standing up.

He gazed out at the rain for a moment longer from his new vantage point, going through his routine of stretches and cracking every joint that was willing to crack. After he had finished, he turned and walked across the room to the door, pulling it open, exiting, then closing and locking it behind him.

He stood in the hall for a moment, unsure of where he'd go exactly, but as if on cue, his stomach let out a growl and he dropped his gaze down to look at it.

"Food it is, then."

The source of which wouldn't be so hard to find, would it? And besides, if he was hungry, it was likely that the others would be too. Maybe he'd bump into one or two of them, not that he was particularly looking forward to doing so, but he was aware of certain... formalities that his job required.

With that thought, he set out, in search of food like (unbeknownst to him) many of the others.

"Nano, stay there and don't move, alright, sweetie?" In her memories, her mother's face was blurred in front of her eyes as she went out to the battle outside again. Even she could see that it was one sided. Stay here! She wanted to hold on to the leaving woman, but she was slipping past her fingertips. Too late. The screams of pain outside died down into an empty silence. Letting out a shriek of despair, the girl clutched at her ears to cover them, but she could hear footsteps, and they were growing closer and closer...

"Agent Nano?" Before she could stop herself, her knife was already flying toward her handler, who caught it before it could inflict an injury. "Sorry." Nano mumbled under her breath as she pinched the bridge of her nose, her eyes shut tightly. She needed to collect her thoughts, it was her first time here and she needed to make a good impression. An impression that sadly didn't include attacking others without thinking. But old habits die hard, and she found it hard to control herself from doing such things. Not after a dream like that, certainly. "We have arrived." Her handler didn't sound the least bit surprised or offended. Ever since Nano had come under the custody of the government, the people who were supposed to teach her had long gotten used to her frequent mood swings and attacks.

A soft sigh escaped the girl as she swung her legs out of the van, tucking the stray strands of her ink black hair behind her ears. It was time to meet the team, and it seems that some of them were already there. There was a woman with pink hair, and a boy with silver one. Interesting. Yet, she chose to ignore them for now. Nano was looking forward to see what her room would be like, excited to customise it to her own liking. It would be fun, much different from the room she had to train in until now. Everything seemed to fresh to her, and the girl was taking everything in with curious eyes, as if she was seeing it for the first time.

As she stepped into the hall, she found herself face to face with a... Teammate? Nano could feel her fingers tightening over the knife hidden in her jacket, her eyes scanning his whole body quickly. "That um... Hi?" She gave a shaky greeting. Nano wasn't expecting to meet anyone so early, so it caught her completely off guard. Biting her lip in embarrassment, she waited for the man to reply anxiously, regretting it slightly that she had not just ignored him as well.

THE ASSASSIN

►►Ashes of Eden◄◄

"#9EABB4." ‖‖ #ABB49E
Image

The stroll at which Allison chose to walk at was a slow pace, and from the way her gaze remained slightly downward, it was apparent that what was slowing her steps was her own thoughts. It was enough so, that her self-projection waned just a touch, growing hazy and fading like the screen of a televisions' screen cutting out. From the look on Allisons' face, she didn't seem to notice, but as she walked past a hallway, something caught her attention long enough to bring her to a full stop.

"Your mask is slipping." Said the silver-haired boy from her nightmare, his arms crossed and one leg propped up against the wall he was leaning against, light brown eyes focused on the assassin, and his lips curling up into a grin. Hands still in her pockets, Allison just stood still for a moment, her face solemn. After a moment, she would slowly slip her hands free, reaching up to pull her hood up over her head as the boy continued to speak, "Hey now, none of that, you know that's not what happened." Allison continued to simply stand there, holding the tip of her hoodie downward so it covered her face, and the boy pushed himself off of the wall, visibly growing concerned. And blushing.

"O-Oi, Allison!" He would call out, hint of an Irish accent tugging at his voice, before he reached up and began to tousle his silver hair with both hands, eyes widening as he began to look around. After a few seconds of panic, a soft scoff passed the girls' lips, and she lifted her head. Confusion rang across his face, before Allison finally managed to mumble, "Making you blush is still as easy as it ever was, Caelan."

A calm rushed over Caelan, one hand dropping to his side to rest on his hip, while the other clutched over his chest while he gave a sigh of relief. "You shouldn't mess with people like that, y'know." He'd scold, but Allison simply lifted her head a touch more, and said, "I know. I'm sorry." A brief pause, before Caelan would rest himself against the wall again.

"So... Faustus, huh?"
"Mmhmm."
"You excited to work with him again?"
"Pssh. Are you jealous?"
"M-Maybe."

"Heh." Allison said, before she began to walk forward again. There would be a long moment of silence, before Caelan called out, "I-I love you!"

Allison would stop once more time, before her head lowered a bit more. This time, her voice barely managed a croak, "I love you too, Caelan. I'll see you later."

As Allison walked away, Caelan would finally step out of his little hiding place, watching her as she walked away, eventually beginning to flicker like a bad television set, before vanishing. A projection*.

Allison continued her stroll to the mess hall, before a voice caught her attention, "Hey! You can come inside!" Allison would stop once more, hood still up as she turned her head and looked towards the entrance. Honey brown eyes focused on the back of the auburn-haired girl at the doorway for a moment, before they slowly trailed upwards, and focused on the woman standing outside. Stuffing her hand back into her hoodie pocket, Allison chose to take a detour, slowly turning on her foot and heading for the front door. As she walked past the one known as Maria, her gaze remained downward, not even hesitating for a moment as she stepped out into the falling rain, continuing to walk until she came to a stop next to their leader, Aurora.

"You're a day late, y'know." Allison would say, her voice quiet and thought-riddled as she addressed their leader. Still, her gaze remained downward, not even flinching as the heavy rainfall began to soak through her hoodie. "We've been waiting for you." A moment of silence, before Allison would finally lift her head a bit, hands sliding out of her pockets to reach up for her hood.

"I suppose we can wait until the rain stops, though. I don't mind." Granted, Allison was a fan of rainfall regardless, and it showed by the way she finally pulled that hood free, head lifting upward to let the tears from the heavens land and glide down her face. "I've always loved the rain."

Her mask was refitted perfectly, and not an error was to be seen. However, as the rain soaked her flesh, the faint hints of puffiness and discoloration under her eyes were obvious, which left the question as to which tears came from the sky, and which were her own.

OOC Projection Note: Anyone within earshot can hear Allison and Caelan talking. They could also see him quite clearly if they so choose. PM if you have questions.

Faustus stopped mid-stride, his path cut off by another person, one that he assumed was a fellow teammate. A girl, black hair, jacket that seemed too big for her. He looked her up and down, cataloging it all away in his head. She matched the description of the Technician. He opened his mouth to speak, but instead close it again and shook his head dismissively.

He had no time for this right now.

With no hint of an apology, Faustus slipped passed the girl, continuing on his quest for something to eat. This took him down several other hallways, and he was just about to consider himself lost, which seemed an irony in and of itself before he heard voices coming from further ahead, around the corner. These, he recognized.

His own pace slowed to a crawl, and he pushed himself up against the wall and edge closer to the corner to listen in. He had only just caught the ass end of the conversation, and he already heard footsteps fading away, and so after a reasonable amount of time he rounded the corner and was met with what seemed to be a flickering television image in real life. He recognized it in more ways than one. He knew just who this was, and what it was.

The what? An after-image or projection, the result of the powers of one of his former - and now current- teammates. Allison Bennett, assassin extraordinaire. He enjoyed her out on the field with him, and even considered her one of his rare equals in terms of usefulness. Well, at least he did at times.

The who, however, was a different story. Who he was looking at right now, blinking in and out of existence, was nothing short of a ghost. The third in their little work-based ménage à trois, as it were. But perhaps it was more appropriate to say that Faustus was the third, and that this ghost here was the first.

Caelan. An old teammate and even something of an old friend.

Dead.

But apparently not to Allison, not just yet. As the image of this deceased member of his past faded entirely, he decided he and Allison were going to have a little talk later on.

While most people might think him rude, Nano only let out a sigh of relief as the man passed by her without saying a word. She had little to no experience in handling conversations, so it was actually better for him to just go. Yet, it was probably the wrong decision to talk to him in the first place... How does she manage to keep messing these things up? Meetings were not her strong point, and after all she never needed any of this. She had never worked together with anyone before, so why now? What was the point of throwing her into a group of people she barely knew?

Still, it was useless to mull over these facts for now. She shook the thoughts off with an air of defiance, walking off in the opposite direction, to the dorms where they were supposed to stay. And yet, it seemed like she couldn't avoid meeting them forever. Red eyes scanned the different doors only to see another silver haired boy. That makes person number three she had seen, apart from the one with pink hair and the other mysterious person with black. Hair colours were probably not the best way to differentiate her team members, but it will have to do for now.  She will find time to identify them one way or another, but currently she was too flustered and frustrated to care. Nano had half a mind to spend the rest of the day in her room. Forget socialising, even greeting others was hard. It did take a lot more to bring her down usually, but this was a new environment, and she was feeling at a loss. It was only polite to acknowledge the other however.

"Hey." She raised her hand in a small wave and gave the person a half hearted smile before entering her room, flopping immediately on the bed. Burying her face in one of the pillows, Nano thanked the heavens that it was soft, providing a source of immediate comfort and security for her tired body. She sat up, nuzzled her face into it and rocked herself back and forth, trying not to think of the awkward encounter that had happened. Yet, the sudden heating of her cheeks told her she had failed.

"Ugh." To think that she was looking forward to this too. She did feel a lot better, an effect that soft things always had on her system. They calmed her down immensely, and as she raised her head, she knew that she was ready to take on whatever the day had to offer. For now, at least.

"I'm here to help! Before you ask, no, I'm not a girl! Alright, let's get to work on putting your intestines back inside your belly."

Current Theme: Repetition

Ino looked dumbfoundedly at the space where the girl just stood before she bolted off behind a closed door. He blinked out of awe a few times before he returned to his senses, still in the process of wrapping his mind around her actions. Unfortunately, timidness wasn’t an easily diagnosable prognosis, and since the shy girl had already made her retreat, the medic left it off at that. ”She didn’t look like generic military personnel… Must be a part of my unit.” That was the only conclusion he could draw. Even though it was complete downpour outside, soldiers were still training and patrolling, or at least doing something progressive.

”Definitely. There’s no question about it.” But a possible path to kill time fled just as soon as it had appeared, scurrying off into her own quarters to rest. She seemed interesting enough to get to know, it was a doctor’s natural intent to get to know his patients, and fasten bonds with them. If she was a part of his green team, then they would surely meet again soon.

Since that offer had already dissipated, Ino decided on strolling through the complex to kill time. If his hunch was correct, its structure would be essentially identical to the base in Kyoto. After all, originality required monetary expense, which the NWG wasn’t too fond of. Navigating the halls was a sinch to him, and on the way he noted a few diamonds in the rough. More suspected individuals of his group, all distinctly unique from one another. One girl and two guys, each at least had a couple years on him. They were chatting away, making first basis introductions. Ino was half-tempted to yank a cigarette out of a red head’s hand before he threw it out himself, indefinitely saving him from an earful and lecture. The boy wrapped his fingers around the housing of his headphones and cupped them over his ears. He would’ve gladly reached out to the trio, but he was determined to reach his destination first; the medbay.

Ino flattened out his palm against the wall of glass as he stared at the man on the other side. He was in a hospital gown, gritting his teeth while letting out cries of pain and agony. It was a sight which could make anybody’s blood curdle and spine tense all at the same time. The soldier was completely boxed in by panes, a crude yet effective form of containment, and strapped to a table under a blinding light.

”Sorry, doc, but I can’t do anything about radiation poisoning.” He stated bluntly to the doctor at his side, whose heart seemed to have dropped the moment the words left his mouth. ”But aren’t you a mutant? Don’t you have some abi-” Ino held out a hand to cut him off mid-sentence and met his elder’s gaze, ”Unfortunately, us mutants aren’t very fond of radiation. Nobody is. It may have birthed us, but that’s the only grace it shows us. Anything further than that is completely unbiased.” It was a shell leftover from the war. The man’s squad stumbled on it, and the minor movement of rocks was enough to make it go off. None of the soldiers died from the initial explosion, but as soon as their geiger counters started going up, they booked it. The only one slow enough to be caught by the radiation was this unfortunate individual right here.

”My ideology is that as long as there’s hope, I’ll try my damndest to keep them from falling under. But that mindset requires me to be a realist, so I can gauge just how much of a chance I have at keeping those under my care alive. The only solace I can offer is how long he has left to live. Probably five hours at best.” He stepped away from the cell and glanced over at the other patients, those which fell victim to less lethal wounds and were merely waiting on their recovery time, ”If he’s got a wife or any relatives out of this base, I’d advise they have their last words with him.” He skimmed over the other patients and deduced they didn’t require his attention, besides, growing the extensions was a bit tiring to do first thing in the morning.

Ino closed the door to the medbay behind him and slid down the frame, leaning his scalp against the hard metal. ”Worst part about it, there’s only going to be more when we get out there…” Surely with the sight of an expertise unit, only more rebels would join the cause. The boy got to his feet once again, deciding not to dwell on it, and mentally prepared himself for the debriefing. His gaze trailed over to the window, staring out into the scape of incessant rain. "Really hope this weather lets up soon."

The rain was growing to a monotonous buzz in Nano’s ears when she decided to leave grudgingly, still hanging on to the pillow in her arms tightly. It comforts her, and there was no reason not to bring it along to meet the team. While a good impression might be needed, Nano sees no harm in appearing while carrying a pillow. If anything, it could serve to make her look more harmless, something that she might need considering she was going to stay with superpowered youths with mutant powers like her own. Ironic how life can turn out at times, from hiding from the mutants to working with them, even finding out that she herself was what she had been afraid for most of her life. Spinning around quickly in her room one last time, she evaluated it with a critical eye, scanning every detail and visualising what she would make it look like. Her room, her very own one. What an exciting prospect. Nano’s life has been devoid of whatever privacy or originality she could think of, and even now she was still rather unsure that there weren’t any security cameras hidden around the place. There probably was. So far, she hasn’t done much to prove that she wasn’t still a threat to the government, and as long as she still remembers Nano doesn’t plan to prove much anytime soon. It was hard to come to terms with the past, especially when she once viewed the rebels as family.

How was she going to face armies of them with orders of elimination and containment when she knew that they were humans? Perhaps one of them might have a family. Once you get that idea into your head, she could never quite get herself used to the idea of killing just anyone without knowing what they had done or their reasons behind it. It couldn’t be helped and she didn’t exactly get a choice in the matter, but all she could do was be grateful that she didn’t have to be the one doing the killing. The Assassin must be a really sad person. That or she might be numb to it all, after being trained to do exactly that. She finished her examination with a soft sigh, putting a quick end to her train of straying thoughts. Still holding onto the pillow, she strode resolutely outside, pausing only to close the door gently behind her.

Now what? She stared at the empty hallway with a feeling of growing despair. How exactly was she going to find the others? Even the boy with silver hair was gone from his spot where she last saw him, but that was to be expected. People rarely stayed in one spot, always moving on to other things, places, to meet new people. Perhaps if she walked around aimlessly enough, she might just find some of them? Glancing out of the window quickly, her heart dropped when the teens she had seen were no longer standing outside. She was getting her hopes up for a second there, hoping that she would still find them outside. Still, that didn’t stop her from charging outside just in case, wincing as the cold rain fell onto her. Grumbling softly, she pulled her hood up to cover her hair, letting out an involuntary sneeze. Nope, they were definitely not outside hiding in some unseen corner, and if they were, the chilling coldness of the rain had driven out any ideas of trying to seek them out. If they wanted to stay outside, so be it. She wasn’t going to stand there in the cold.

She hummed under her breath in mild irritation, searching through the places they could have been until the thought of food entered her mind. It wouldn’t be a problem if she took a detour, would it? While Nano wasn’t hungry as of yet, she could stock the supplies up just in case. Nano didn’t hold much faith in the government for not sending them on a mission out of nowhere. It was surprising how they were actually having nothing to do, considering the fact that she had been rushed over to Japan is such a hurry. Her footfalls were surprisingly silent as she headed toward the mess hall, much like a prowling cat. If one didn’t know better, it would seem like she had been aiming to steal something, which considering the thoughts in her mind wouldn’t be too far from the truth.

Still, Nano honestly approached the counter, eyes lighting up as she saw the range of food they were allowed to choose from. Finding the doughnuts, she was stacking them carefully onto her tray when she heard the dripping sound of water. Was there a leak? Her eyes scanned the floor suspiciously, only to focus on a growing puddle on the ground. Looking up from there, it was too dark to see anything properly, so Nano wasn’t sure if there was one. “Better go investigate!” She chirped cheerfully to herself, balancing the tray gingerly in an upturned palm while clinging on to the pillow with her other arm. A delicate task, but she was somehow able to get it to the nearest table without making a mess on the ground.

Well then. She stretched eagerly, releasing the tension in her muscles as she sat down. It had been quite a while before she had left her human body, something that she wasn’t allowed to do during her trip here with the precaution that she would try to mess with the electronics in the car. But the feeling of being free without a body to weigh you down was almost addictive, a surge of fresh energy, and Nano was eager to transform again. After all, there was no one watching. She gave the area a quick scan nevertheless, before resting her head on the table and closing her eyes.

When she opened them, it was to blue pixels, making up most of her body. She could float now, though her form must be rather odd to see from the outsider’s point of view. That was why she mostly avoided doing that in front of others unless it was really necessary. People do have a tendency to point fingers and call her a phantom. They get very touchy when faced with something that might be potentially harmful to them, something that they cannot control. “To the leak!” She proclaimed, doing a small flip in the air just to test out her new body. She did miss this form.

Drifting up to the ceiling, she was surprised to find another inhabitant there, perched up in the steel beams. The girl had long blonde hair and copper brown eyes, looking like a normal teen. The dripping seemed to be coming from her wet clothes, and one could infer that she had been in the rain as well, if not recently. Oh boy. There was no hiding her form now. Shooting an anxious look at her immobile body at the table, her form glitched, the pixels flickering like they always did when she felt upset. “Hi! My name is Nano! I’m the technician!” Smiling like nothing out of place was happening, she quipped cheerfully, regarding the foreign girl with a curious look. “Aren’t you cold? What’s your name? Do you know where the others are?” She was bombarding the girl with questions, her eye bright and eager. Despite how the boy before ignored her completely, she wasn’t going to give up hope that easily.
