Description

If You Look In This Cage, You Will See Jaws .

Image

They Were Born Under The Name Taylor Laun .

They Are 19 Years Old.

They Are A Male .

They Are Here Because Part Great White Shark -- skin is grayish on back, back of legs, back of neck and around top of face, eyes turn black when angry or attacking, the more angry he is, the sharper is teeth get, gills sit just under his jawline, can sense changes in electomagnatic activity (temperature change, heart beats) due to ampullae of Lorenzini inside his body as well, his body temperature is higher than most .

They really enjoy sea animal meat (raw), being underwater, messing with people, being alone . They Really Hate crowds, gossipers, illogical arguments .

What Really Scares Them Is Being trapped in this zoo and not finding a purpose .

Their Story Goes Something Like This. Taylor wasn't born a freak. His father was a scientist, a crazy one at that, and also a single parent. He tried his best, but one day he had to bring his seven-year-old son to the lab, during an experiment testing the ampullae of Lorenzini of great white sharks in correlation to temperature sensitivity. One of Taylor's Father's co-workers had been working on a serum to infuse a human with the abilities of a shark, a vial that young Taylor got his hands on. The vial broke and Taylor was sent into the ER, the doctors unable to cope with the drastic changes happening to his tiny body. Since then, Taylor has home-schooled himself, taken to the ocean and no longer speaks with his father after he tried to fix Taylor and ended up increasing its effects more, changing his skin and eyes. Taylor was then semi-tricked into working at the zoo, The Owner promising money and aid to find a cure. Taylor signed the contract under the influence, but it is binding. .

Even If They Are Freaks, They Have Personalities... Since his change, Taylor has avoided people, their lives meaningless to him, their worries shallow. He meditates under water, watching people, gauging his escape routes and wondering where he will fit in the world. He enjoys drinking, though hasn't in some time, and is easily angered, especially by any illogical thinking that surrounds him. .
Wait! One More Thing! OTHER? *Not Needed.
Moving on to our next freak...

Writing Sample? (should I do another one?)

So begins...

Eyes closed...the tank's temperature steady...teeth still normal...

Taylor opened his eyelids slightly, only slits allowing him to see the glass a few feet from him, faces on the other side staring at him closely, children in awe, parents bored with his immobility. So he stretched his legs out a bit, glaring down to his skin tight outfit that ended just above his knees, the sleeves just before his elbows. A black suit with engraved fish scales on it. For effect what the sun shimmered down through the water, according to Jack.

He sniffed and drifted closer to the glass, level with the face of a young boy and girl, who took two steps back, but kept eye contact. Children curiosity always intrigued him.

Carefully he smiled, allowing his teeth to elongate into sharp triangles of death. His grin seemed of a jack-o-lantern of sorts he pictured. Then he slipped his eyes into their predatory black state. It was a simple change of features, but the children turned away, the girl whining.

The family left and Taylor lazily kicked off the glass to swim on his back to the other side of the tank where the cement wall stood. Jack insisted on a performance. Taylor refused such nonsense.

Surfacing was never one of his favorite things to do. His exhibit stood on the outskirts of the zoo a bit, needing the tank and all, but the above ground prison allowed him to see most of the exhibits. From below, he had heard the commotions.

Ridley harassed again, then yelled at by Jack. Ebony's fall and Timothy making himself known to the new gal Nixon.

Quite a lot happening today. Taylor rolled his eyes and lazily switched his breathing to his mouth from his gills, draping his body over a flat rock under direct sunlight. He noted Herrick's little visitor, redhead. A pig-tailed girl leaned against Salem's cage with a notebook. A ways away, Taylor also saw someone speaking with Dawn and...sketching? He couldn't see all the exhibits clearly, but he supposed that 's what was happening.

The warmth felt great on his skin as the color shifted in his cells. Under the water his back and most of his face changed to gray, to better camouflage himself like an actual great white. His hair stuck out though. It was a horrible attempt to hide him.

He heard voices, maybe more visitors, wanting to see "Shark Boy." Taylor rolled over onto his stomach to dry his back, eyes fluttering closed. A nap sounded nice.

Jack needed to lay off Ridley. Jack need to lay off period. And the punishments that were going to be doled out to all those who vouched for her out loud would be unnecessary also. Ebony would most likely receive some disciplinary action as well.

Sighing, he wondered why all of them had ended up here. What was the purpose for such a convergence of anomalies? He had to wonder if there was a grand reason they were brought together the way that they were. He had to. Or...there was no point except to suffer.

Vic walked along the zoo. He hadn't really meant anyone here yet, but he was having fun just walking around. He knew some of the visitors were staring at him because of his bright red hair, but he didn't care. "Take a picture, it'll last longer." He said to some of them with a small smile.

As Vic walked, he saw a small group of people by a cage with some webs on it. He didn't dare walk up, but he watched and listen from a distance as he tried to figure out what was going on. I wonder if stuff like that happens everyday. He thought to himself. He slightly hoped it did because it would make this place a little more exciting. Then again, it would start getting annoying day after day.

Vic then started walking around again. "What to do. What to do." He said aloud to himself when he came up to an exhibit on the outskirts of the zoo. There were a few visitors by it saying that they want to see "shark boy", what ever that means. Vic came up and stood a few feet away from the small group of visitors and looked at the exhibit. It was starting to get sunny out and Vic said aloud to himself "Victor doesn't like sun..." then he took some big red-tented sunglasses out of his pocket and put them on. They matched his abnormally red hair almost perfectly. "Sun hurts Victor..." He said again a bit louder. The visitors then looked at him. "That's why Victor doesn't like the sun." He added, this time turning his head a bit to look at the visitors. Then they all ran away. Vic laughed a bit then leaned on the tank part of the exhibit. "Never gets old." He said out loud with a smile as he leaned on the tank part of the exhibit. "Now, who's this 'Shark Boy' those people where talking about?" He wondered.

Taylor

A voice had spoken loudly, scaring away all the other voices. Good. Taylor liked the quiet. When the zoo was open, the noise was just uncomfortable.

He opened one eye and saw red hair down outside the tank, sunglasses peering into the water. This guy was looking for a creature that wasn't in the mood to swim at that moment. Taylor laid back down in the sun, skin drying and hair sticking up in places.

His thoughts drifted back to escape, wondering for the tenth time if isolation would give him the opportunity needed. True, isolation meant no abilities, which seemed nice in a way, but afterwards...Taylor had vague plans. He needed to know more about the layout of this place. It changed with every city and this was only his third move with the zoo.

He also wondered if he should get help from the others, if they would want to join him. If they would want to leave this retched place too.

Rubbing his eyes, Taylor stretched a bit and tuned his ears to the water and the bright red dyed haired dude below. Still looking. Taylor rolled his eyes.

As Vic gazed into the water of the tank and saw no sign of anyone, or anything, he decided to leave. He walked over to a fence that was surrounding the circus and sat down. Right now. At this moment. He wanted peace and quiet. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a box of smokes. "Just what I need." He said aloud and opened the box. "One left!" He said a little louder. "It's gonna have to last." He added and pulled out a lighter and lite it. He took three huffs of the smoke and let it all out then put it out. "Save the rest for an other day." He said to himself then started whistling and acting quite bored.

Timothy looked back up at Katerina, still immured in the cage.

"Well, then your ma's a crappy parent."

He walked away, still half-dragging his medical kit. He locked eyes with Ridley for a moment. She bared her fangs at him, which startled him, causing him to scurry to the next cage to avoid looking at her. God, how he hated spiders. Even as a child he hated them. His father told him to never harm God's creatures, but Tim figured they were the farthest thing from God's reach. He decided to go to where spiders dare to tread: the water tank. There, Shark Boy lived. Timothy didn't mind Sharkie; he was quiet, and hadn't bit him yet. So he figured giving him a check-up wouldn't hurt. He climbed the ladder on the side of the tank and sat his medical kit on the platform above the tank. He opened the small door at the top and called out to Taylor.

"Heeeeeere, fishy fishy fishy..."

"Heeeeeere, fishy fishy fishy..."

Rolling over with a groan, Taylor eyed the man standing above the tank. He hadn't noticed the "Shark Kid" was above on his tiny piece of land. Seeing him though, struck a thought. A plan...

Taylor smiled to himself and dove down into the water, grinning as his appearance assimilated to camouflage him before poking up through the surface to splash Timothy in the face. He saw the med kit and paused just out of reach of the man, grin probably giving him away.

"Hey there," he greeted, dramatically sniffing the air. "You smell...good." He chuckled. It was innocent enough.

"Well, then your ma's a crappy parent."

Katerina watched as Timothy walked away.
"Damn straight she was..." she mutters with a touch of sadness in her voice. She never did know her mother, she died giving birth to her. It wasn't until she was about 5 that Katerina learned of why she is the way she is. Her father found out of his wife's plan of turning herself into a cat/human hybrid after the fact. She made sure to keep it secret from him until it was too late. Katerina's mother had taken drugs to give her features and characteristics of a cat, but ended up passing it on to her daughter. The reason for her mother's death was unknown, whether it was because of the drugs or just childbirth, but Katerina wished she could have met her mother. Maybe to give her a good slap for doing this horrible thing to her own child.

After coming down from her thoughts, her eyes followed Timothy again. She caught the glimpse of a tank that she was able to see clearly from her cage. Inside, she could see a boy, a handsome boy, swimming inside. He seemed to have the features of a shark. Instinctively, she twitches her tail, but smiles at him nonetheless. Hopefully she would get to meet this shark-boy.

When she has her fill of staring, she looks around and she spots a pretty blonde woman walking around. She seemed to look lost. Katerina's tail twitches and her ears flick as she continues to sit with her legs dangling outside the cage.

Katerina shrinks back into her cage when she hears The Owner speak. His voice frightened her when he was angry. She quickly flipped up onto her swing, still able to see outside her cage. She hangs herself upside down and stares back at Taylor in his tank. From what she could see, he was quite handsome. She wondered if she would gain the opportunity to get out of her cage with enough time to have a conversation with him.

But for now, she would wait for The Owner to come to her cage. She hadn't done anything wrong today besides swiping at the boy who petted her head, but that wasn't her fault. It clearly said "Do not Touch" on the outside of her cage. They should have been paying more attention. She had done everything she was told to do. Do some acrobatics, paced around, and looked pretty. All the rules and regulations were done on her part.

Dawn looked up as everybody was ushered out, before looking straight ahead. She saw Herrick, since his cage was right across from her own, but he wasn't looking at her. After the show, his hat was back on, and he didn't speak. Well, usually Dawn didn't either. But for some reason, she wanted to talk today. She wanted to ask him about the girl he had spoken to. They were close enough together he could hear her when she spoke normally, so she looked for Jack. Still near the gates. She crawled a bit closer to the bars, before sitting cross legged again.

"Herrick? Who was that? Is she coming back?" She spoke only as loud as she needed to, looking at him with a curious expression. She usually didn't talk to people, why was she starting now? After all, nobody here wanted to be her friend... Freaks didn't have friends... She tried to shake the thought out of her head (literally) but it continued to echo in her mind. A small frown crossed her lips, but she tried to act neutral again as she looked back at Herrick, where his eyes would've been if that hat wasn't tipped so low.

As she waited for an answer, Dawn took time to kick off the flats that were part of her costume. She looked him over one last time. She had watched him the entire time, and to be honest, this girl seemed to make him act like a different person. Which took a lot, for anybody here. Well, not like it was a shocker. The Owner tended to suck the life out of them, at a very young age.
---
Jack locked up the gate with one last smile, before turning around and facing the cages. It was quiet now, besides the sounds of cars staring to life and freaks that dared to talk to each other before The Owner came along. His foot steps seemed to echo on the cobblestones as he approached the cages, not bothering to look at the freaks. He was ticked off. Very ticked off. He finally stopped, in the center of the zoo where everybody could both hear and see him. He circled around, before finally opening his mouth to talk.

"I'm not happy. You didn't do a good job today, freaks. To start, Miss Widow didn't perform at all today. Oh, and Jetta. Broken rib? But let's not forget my fruits. Talking back isn't allowed here, thought you would've have learned that by now." He took his time to stare at everybody he was talking about, before looking around again at some other faces. Jaws. Zero. Angel. Romulus. Kat. They hadn't done anything wrong, for the most part. He gave a look of disapproval at all of them before continuing.

"There wasn't a lot of performing going on today, either. Quite a lot of chatting, don't you agree, Zero?" Jack approached the scorpion, whom he didn't have a problem with most of the time. He tended to follow the rules. But there were still times. He gave the freak a warning glare before returning to the center again.

"Widow. Jetta. Blueberry and Strawberry. Expect to see me later. I'm not happy. Not at all." With that, he was off again. You had to leave them scared.

Katerina heard every word The Owner said. She shivered slightly at the sound of his voice. It always gave her goosebumps when he was angry. Thank God it had nothing to do with her. Just keep him happy, and nothing would go awry for her.

After The Owner left, there was silence. An eerie silence. Katerina crawled to the bars of her cage, looking to Taylor's tank. She rested her head on the bars and got in her usual sitting position on the edge of the cage. She made sure The Owner was long gone before she dare speak to the others.
"So what now?" she says loud enough for all the other freaks to hear her.

"Usted no necesita hacer nada..." Another language Katerina recognized. She wasn't entirely sure from whom the voice came, but she smiled slightly, keeping her eyes fixed on the shark-boy in the tank adjacent to her cage.

"Me gustaría que hubiera algo que pudiera hacer..." Katerina replies sadly after a moment of silence. She takes a deep breath and then sighs. She wanted so much to be out of that damned cage. She wanted to see the faces of those she talked to. Not that the view was bad, she had a great view of a very attractive boy. But still, she wanted to have conversations with the others. Conversations that only the person she spoke to could hear. She didn't want to yell across the grounds if she wanted to speak.

Deciding not to bite Timothy was a hard decision, but he allowed the man to check him and then he dove back under the water to swim in circles and figure eights for an hour or so. The zoo closed soon after and he could finally change. He had stashed his swim trunks on land. Stripping down with his back to the other exhibits, he stretched without anything on, a shoulder popping slightly, then pulled on the green swim trunks gladly.

Without the skin tight costume he could feel the water better, function better and a smile even came to his face. Zipping around the tank for awhile, he wondered what Jack was yelling about from the center of the zoo. It didn't matter to Taylor much and he continued to lazily float back and forth across the bottom of the tank, sensing when Jack's voice ceased.

He squinted past the glass, seeing someone watching him. Were those cat ears? He couldn't remember the cat one's name, but he shook his head with a smile. sliding up to the glass, he waved directly to her, grinning and all, before pushing off again to float to the back end of the tank.

Katerina's ears flicked when she noticed Taylor had smiled at her. She smiled back, her aqua eyes focused on him until he disappeared into the water. There was a lot she wondered about him. The normal things would wonder about someone they didn't know. History, friends, family, but with the added bonus of how did he get the way he is, would he die if he left the water...things like that.

With a sigh, she pushed herself inside the cage and slinked around a few times, searching for the prime place to curl up for a good night's sleep. She crawls over to the corner of her cage and walks around, pacing as cats do, before she settled down. Katerina curls into a ball, her tail wrapped around her. Her eyes wander around before she finally closes them and doses off for the night.

Upon hearing his Boss's words, Timothy was elated. The zoo was closed! Thank goodness. His day was over. After checking up on Taylor, he had to get back to the employee trailer to package Katerina's blood work to send for processing. He dragged himself back to the trailer and packed the syringe in the appropriate chilled bags and lined boxes. He sat on the couch in the trailer and sighed a sigh of relief. No injuries today. The first day in a long time. He reflected upon the day. It was a bit of a strange one. He remembered his boss saying that Spidey was in trouble. He chuckled at the thought. But he was a bit concerned about Lizzy Godzilla. The injury was pretty bad, but he wondered if his boss would make it worse through his punishments. He didn't know if he could treat it properly if it got worse. And taking her to a hospital would be a pain in the ass.

Then he thought about Katerina. She didn't scratch him this time, and she was actually... Pleasant. He didn't realize it yet, but Katerina's cage was his favorite now for more reasons than just the cat puns. For once, he'd actually made a friend.

He decided to take a nap. But soon, his light sleep had evolved into a deep slumber.

Taylor

Surfacing, Taylor shook out his hair a bit and felt the colors fade from his skin as he returned to his tanned self. Voices had been echoing around the water for a good time now and he needed to get out of there, glaring to the other exhibits a bit. With the zoo so quiet, only their voices rang out and it wasn't enough to fade into white noise like during the day. Outside the water, his hearing normalized a bit and he lay back on his boulder. Different languages, bickering twins...same as every night. This was why he kept to himself.

He hoped no one would speak to him. He rarely came out during the night but if someone noticed him, they'd probably try to talk. The only words he had to say were:

1) Fuck you, I'm outta here Jack

and

2) Why are you talking to me?

They seemed easy to understand and had proved effective in the past, the last one at least. The first he muttered in his dreams of escape and freedom. But if someone did speak to him...He groaned a bit. He wasn't entirely impolite. He would respond, but hopefully in a way that indicated he really didn't care for what they had to say.

All this talking was definitely not helping her sleep. Katerina opens her eyes slowly, her tail flipping from side to side. Her ears were flat against her head as she stretched, arching her back. She shook her head, theoretically shaking the sleep from her. She crawls into the center of her cage and looks out of the bars.

In the moonlight, Katerina spots Taylor, sitting on a boulder outside his tank. She smiled as she crawled over to the bars. She curled up right next to the bars, leaving her arm to dangle outside her cage. She still watches Taylor for a brief moment before focusing on the moon. The moonlight seemed to light her cage, as well as the entire site of the grounds.

Kitty cat's awake. Taylor's eye flick over, narrowed and analyzing. She glances to him again then the sky, only sleeping for about an hour. Before wondering what woke her up, Jack stole into the zoo, stopping in front of Ridley's prison cell.

Taylor leaned forward, watching in horror as the spider girl was dragged from her place, head already injured in the process. Glaring to the bars hindering a rescue, Taylor let out a low, menacing moan of anger, teeth sharpening under the moonlight, eyes black.

Ridley didn't deserve this. None of them did.

Leaping to the bars, he began pulling on them in a frenzy, mind clouded over with blood lust and instinct. Jack's heart beat was steady as ever as he pulled Ridley inside the punishment trailer just out of eye shot. Taylor let out a frustrated bellow, then realized there was nothing he could do. Tearing himself away from the sight, he dove back into the tank, soaring to the bottom and curling up there, glaring outside the glass past the cat girl's bars to where he could just see the edge of the trailer and its wheel, moving a bit here and there as the punishment was doled out.

He was going to get out of here. He was going to take everyone with him.

Katerina closed her eyes. She could hear everything and prayed that sleep would come upon her. It didn't. She remained awake through the entire beating of Ridley, hearing every smack, slam, yell, and any other audible noise there was. A tear or two rolled down her cheeks. She never could sleep through the tortures.

She never was beaten by the owner, not yet at least. That being said, she was definitely not a stranger to being beaten. Due to her appearance, her father beat her constantly. She would often go to bed bloody and bruised. It wasn't until he pulled a knife out on her that she finally fought back. But she didn't want to think about that. All she wanted was sleep. At least until morning.

Zero rarely slept anymore, so he easily could hear the rustling of activity as Jack walked straight to Ridley's cage. He knew what was coming, and he knew that Ridley had assumed so as well.

"If any of you were smart, you would shut up and go back to sleep."

Herrick's voice rang into the night, his tone more harsh than anybody had usually heard him speak. Heck, most of the freaks had yet to even hear his voice, but he was determined to get his point across. True though, that the crudeness was a little far. It was just pent up frustration, Zero guessed. He really didn't 'vent' like most of the freaks did in the exhibits - while some would rant, or have fits of anger like that new child Taylor, Herrick would seemingly remain motionless, rarely ever moving when something went wrong. Sure, the story was different when he was younger: He was a spitfire before his teen years, actively running around his cage and creating ruckus. He was just that age. However, with this kind of disobedience came the beatings, the nightly times in iso. Thing was, he didn't mind iso for it gave him a glimpse at what humanity was truly like. He envied them until he turned 12, when his entire personality shifted with the constant loss of veterans and the realization that he couldn't leave his cage for too long without having a panic attack.

Herrick changed into the man he was now then, and since that date he was beaten far less. The tally went from roughly 300 beatings a year to 10, and now only about 4 a year (except last year. That was only 2) was his average. He knew that this was the only way that they could avoid the beatings, by being like himself, but he normally refused to share it with the others, being too quiet to even be heard. Zero tilted his hat up, his eyes scanning across the exhibits to see Taylor being angry and the agitated and young blooded Katerina also awake (granted, he read that cats were nocturnal...)

With that, his tone and voice lowered substantially to his normal tone to say his final words before going back to his state of 'comatose:' "All you can do is sleep now, nothing more. Trying anything else is futile."
