Description

ImageCasey Elisabeth Vermette

The Basics.
Any Nicknames: None that are pleasant.
Age: Seventeen.
Gender: Female.
Grade: Eleventh.
Sexual Orientation: Unclear.
Clique: She's new to the school, but she's never been a popular person, and doesn't expect that to change anytime soon.

Appearance.
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 104lbs
Fashion Sense: Pretty much nonexistent. She muddles through with simple blouses and jackets and jeans and cargo pants, mostly thrift store stuff. Colors, as far as clothing goes, are cool and dark (nope, no neon for this one).
Scars | Tattoos | Etc: No tattoos. Casey does have multiple mysterious scars, the most noticeable being the one on her left temple.
Overall Appearance: She's actually very pretty, but she certainly doesn't think so, and most others overlook it. Her hair is long and a dark brown color, and is usually kept down in a way that hides some of her face. Her eyes are a tinged brown, obscured by the hair that she lets fall in front of them. She's a thin, short girl, with fairly pale skin and a generally meek look to her.

Personality.
Habits: Casey has a habit of picking at her lip when she's nervous (something she tries to help with an abundance of lip balm). Also, she often runs her hands through her hair, and every once in a while she may have trouble breathing, which is not something caused by a medical condition. Sometimes she forgets to eat, but it's never caused any problems.
Likes: Books, scary movies, superstitions, pie, art, mayonnaise and tomato sandwiches, solitude, rain, camping, eyes, and edges.
Dislikes: Sports, meat, chalk, most social situations and, well, herself.
Favourite Subject/Why: English. She doesn't usually have to talk if she doesn't want to, and it's the only class in which being absorbed in a book is considered good thing.
Least Favourite Subject/Why: Physical Education. It's a class during which, by definition, you're expected to compete. Also, the locker room has never been a very pleasant place.
Hobbies: Reading, hiking, and simply observing.
Overall Personality: Casey keeps to herself, and has become very good at blending in when she wants to. She's not a leader, not a follower; she's not even part of the group. Although she doesn't really talk to people about herself, those who've gotten to know her find that Casey is a very kind, if odd, person. She puts the needs of others first, and doesn't hate anyone, even those who give her a hard time. While she is very quite, and it'd be easy to assume that she's weak, but her mind is strong and she does her best to brush off anything that comes her way. Most people stay away from her and consider her strange. Which she is. Her thought process is a little wonky, but always geared toward helping others, and her imagination knows no bounds.

Background.
Friends: None, as of now, unless you count inanimate objects.
Best Friends: See "Friends".
Relationship Status: Single seems to be a running theme.
Family: Christine Evans Vermette - her mother (age 42)
Adam Vermette - her father (deceased, age 46)
Emily Rose Vermette - her sister (age 2)
Nathan Anderson - her mother's boyfriend, Emily's father (age 41)
Enemies: She's new to the school, so for now "who knows?" seems appropriate.
Overall History: She has always been considered weird. She was isolated and picked on at a young age, and that was something that never changed. Her Father committed suicide before she was born, no one is quite sure why, but that greatly affected the way others saw and acted around her and may have been why she turned out the way she did. Not much is known as to why, but she seemingly disappeared for six months around her 13th birthday. When she returned, rumors stirred, and she was pulled out of school a year later. Soon after that, Casey's mother became pregnant by her boyfriend, who had been living with them since around the time she returned and was a pretty good guy, if a little strict. After the baby was born, Nathan and her mother decided that it wouldn't be healthy for Emily to grow up around Casey, and she was sent to Fresh Mountain High.

Other: Unique and Original!

Casey Vermette

Casey clutched her messenger bag to her chest, taking a minute to look up at the school's intimidating front doors. For some reason, the way they curved inwards gently set her on edge. Sort of like they were being pulled into the school itself. Sort of like she was being pulled into the school itself. She began to get nervous, biting her lip a little too hard, and blood trickled onto her tongue, making the poor girl grimace at the metallic taste. "Alright, then" she said, and that was all she said before approaching the doors. Resting her hand on the entrance's handle, she gave it a pull and suddenly she was inside Fresh Mountain High, walking down the hallway for the very first time. After checking in with a suspiciously cheery woman who worked in the main office ("And what's your name?" "C-Casey... I'm new?" "Oh."), she took a moment to look over her schedule.

Art.

And she was late.

It was her first day at her new school, and Casey was not only late, but she was late for the second to last class of the day. She had good reason, of course (she'd just gotten off the plane this morning, before taking a cab directly to the school), but that didn't really make a difference. Being late meant walking into class late, which meant the usual "flow in with the crowd and no one will notice the new, weird kid" routine wasn't looking so likely. She studied her schedule some more and mumbled to herself, almost passing the door to her current class -- art. To Casey it felt uncomfortable, almost inappropriate, to put her feelings on paper for the entire class to see, but she wasn't a bad artist. Actually, she was very good. She stood outside the door for a moment, going over her options. Go in late and embarrass herself? Wait it out in the girl's bathroom, and slip into Science? Investigate the dorms? Time ticked past, and she could see the shadowy outlines of classmates drifting past through the window in the door. Before she entirely understood what she was doing, she'd grabbed hold of the handle and burst into the class.

This was going to be fun.

Casey stood there for a moment, not daring to look up and see whether anyone was staring or not. Instead, she turned to the teacher and stuck her hand out robotically, giving him the late pass that Ms. Overly Cheery had handed to her at the main office.

Mr. Beirne blinked at her. "And you are..." he started, checking over the student roster that lay on his desk before comparing it to the late slip she'd given him, "...Casey Elisabeth... Vermette? One of our new students?"

"Mmh -- Yes? Yes. Casey." Casey stood a bit straighter, confidence leaking in cautiously. This was a new school for her, after all; why should she be nervous? No one knew her here, no one knew who she was or what she was like, so why should she fret? Of course, she'd just burst into the classroom, and her behavior when she did wasn't exactly normal. So, maybe she'd already blown it? Maybe it'd be just like the last place, and the place before that, and...

She realized that she was just standing there at the front of the class, her mind racing but her lips shut tight. She calmed herself down, eased that first day jittery feeling she had, and looked around for a place to sit. Making her way towards the back, she refused to look at her classmates, staring straight ahead and sitting in the first chair that looked empty. Casey arranged her books and took a moment to gather herself. Then she brushed her messy hair out of her eyes and looked up. She had no idea what to expect. It was a new place, a new school, after all, and anything was possible.

Cara had to bite her lip to keep from rolling her eyes as drama went down between Demi and Dehlilah and they rushed out of the classroom. Most people didn't get on her nerves but those two always managed to. As the two rushed out the door, they bumped into Tyler. Cara's glare softened as Tyler made his way over to her, picking the seat beside her to sit down at. Cara smiled at him, and then turned her attention back to the teacher.

She heard a voice come from Tyler's direction. She didn't actually know if it was Tyler talking or not, she had rarely ever heard his voice. She wasn't sure he was talking to her either, until she turned to face him and he was looking at her. He returned his gaze in the direction of the teacher. Cara shot him a friendly smile, happy he had talked to her. She loved talking to people and making friends, and Tyler had always seemed mysterious to her. She always wanted to know more about him. "Hi, Tyler!" she responded. She wasn't sure what else to say, so she instead waited for him to say something back to her, if he still was interested in a conversation with her.

After that, a new student walked in. Cara looked up as she entered the class, and talked to the teacher. The girl picked the empty seat that happened to right next to Cara. Cara smiled at her, and leaned in her direction. "Hi, I'm Cara. Nice to meet you."

"Hi, I'm Cara. Nice to meet you."

Casey looked up in surprise, the greeting catching her off guard. She gave a brief, awkward smile and looked back down at her desk, not really realizing that Cara had been expecting a reply. It dawned on her a moment later; her wide eyes shot back up to the blonde. "Cara? That's... a nice name. Not very common. Which isn't me calling you weird, just... uncommon. Your name, I mean. It means "friend", did you know? I mean, it's your name, so you probably did, but it's not required that you do..." Casey's smile returned, now more natural, as she took at this new person, Cara. Cara had a pleasant look, like she was just out to make friends, no ill intent. It was comforting, and Casey took her light demeanor as an invitation to continue speaking. "My name is Casey. They sound similar. Our names. It's nice to meet you, too."

[OOC: --And then a giant squid attacked the school, cutting their conversation short as they ran for their lives. Otherwise, this post remains disturbingly short. Which makes me sad.]

Cara couldn't help but giggle as Casey babbled on and on. When she finally finished with "It's nice to meet you to," Cara grinned at her. "You talk a lot. I like that in a person. It makes for a good friend and good conversations." She paused for moment, then said, "My name means friend? I think I knew that, I just didn't remember. What does your name mean?" She liked this new girl. She liked her personality. It was refreshing, so much better than the big personalities of the other girls at Fresh Mountain. She hoped they would be friends. Cara thought the girl was very pretty, and suddenly wondered about her back story. Where she came from, what school she attended before, her reputation at her old school. She bit her lip, pondering the answers to her own questions as she waited for Casey's reply.

Casey Vermette

"You talk a lot. I like that in a person. It makes for a good friend and good conversations."

Cara thought Casey talked a lot? She thought that to be a bit strange, considering she'd always been the quiet type ("Casey?! Casey, you haven't spoken to us in months now. Casey, you look at me when I talk to you!"). Maybe it was that first day jittery feeling? Or Cara's friendly way of speaking, the way she fit into her name so nicely? Or, maybe, it was just this school, a brand new start, pushing her out of her head? "My name means friend? I think I knew that, I just didn't remember." Casey chewed at her lip, head bobbing. The more comfortable she got, the longer she talked with Cara, the livelier she became, brightening up with each word. "Uh huh. In Irish. 'Beloved' in Latin. Spelled with a K, it's Cornish, and means 'love'. But I guess that's a bit irrelevant, so I..." she trailed off. "What's your name mean?" Cara asked. Casey's head stopped bobbing. Her teeth stopped gnawing at her bottom lip. Her entire body grew quiet, and she lost some of that liveliness again, inching back into her shell. When she spoke next, it was in a slow and gentle voice. "M-my name? Casey? Mmh -- I dunno." Casey loved names. It was almost an obsession, such as her fascination with eyes. Or edges. But, unlike the edges, her love of names boiled down to a lovely, simple curiousity. It was a good thing, a happy thing, a thing she enjoyed thinking about. For every new person she met, she'd look that name up as soon as she got home, assuming she didn't know it already.

But she'd never looked up her own name. She was too afraid. A completely unfounded and irrational fear, sure, but that had never mattered; she was afraid that her name would tell her something about herself, show her something new, and that it'd be something true and not so lovely as "friend" or "beloved".

She recovered herself a bit, pushing back any thoughts she had that weren't about Cara or her first day at FMH, and her smile returned. "I guess I'll have to look it up sometime, huh? How... how do you like the school? I mean, have you gone here before, or is this your first day, too? I mean, you don't act like its your first day or anything. But... I figured it'd be good for me to ask, right? Just in case?"

"So where were you from?" someone spoke up suddenly. Casey flinched; she'd been too wrapped up in her conversation with Cara to pay attention to the rest of the classroom. Looking to the young man, she gave him a cautious smile before answering. "I was born in Seattle... if that's what you meant. But I didn't live there long."

Tyler looked at the two girls who exchanged name and name meanings while he scribbled with his pencil, without realizing he had started sketching the two girls as they went about their conversation.

"You talk a lot. I like that in a person. It makes for a good friend and good conversations." He heard Cara say. Oh good, that's the least thing I do. Talking. He then started sketching faster as he grew frustrated over the matter. Just when he thought he could finally talk to Cara a new person has to show up. But he did kind of like the new girl, she seems to be the type who wouldn't judge him. Just like Lacey, damn even their names rhyme.

"So where were you from?" He suddenly spoke up, directing his question towards Casey without introducing his self, his eyes still on his sketching.

Cara found it slightly strange that the girl knew so much about names, but didn't even know the meaning of her own. She guessed she just had never thought to look up her own name. Casey asked her a few questions. "No, I'm not a new student, you're right," Cara answered with smile. "The school? It's great! Most of the time. Sometimes, a few of the girls in our grade...well...there can be drama," She said with a shrug. "But if you stay out of it, like me, you shouldn't have any trouble. Maybe if you eat lunch with me tomorrow I could point them out to you," Cara suggested, hoping the girl would eat lunch with her. She wanted to make her feel welcome at the school, and be her first friend here. She also thought Casey seemed like too much of a nice and gentle girl to mixed up in the big personalities of some of the girls in grade level.

Cara practically jumped when Tyler spoke up. She hadn't really expected him to ask the new girl any questions. Cara glanced his direction with a smile, happy that he was talking. She wanted to know him better. As Casey answered Tyler, Cara pulled out her phone to check her text from Jay. She frowned when she saw Jay wanted to start tomorrow night instead, but understood his reasoning.

To: Jay
From: Cara
I'm jealous of you. So much drama. :/
Oh, alright. That's fine! Definitely tomorrow then :)

Cara tuned back in to the conversation between Tyler and Casey. "Hey Casey, what does Tyler's name mean?" She wondered aloud.

Tyler returned his attention to his sketch as he half listened to what the two girls are saying and half listened to what the teacher was discussing. Impossible as it may seem but he perfectly managed to get decent grades even if his thoughts were somewhere else, just like what was happening right now. Besides, he finds Business class to be annoying.

His concentration were solely on Cara's eye sketch when she heard him ask Casey, "Hey Casey, what does Tyler's name mean?"

It was enough to make him look up and gaze at Cara once again. And it was enough to make his hands shake, sending the charcoal pencil tumbling down the floor space between the two of them. He was still in shock, not realizing he had a stupid grin on his face for more than 3 seconds- which was pretty stupid looking for Tyler himself. He then cleared his throat and moved to pick up the charcoal pencil when he accidentally bumped into his sketchpad, making it fall as well as his incomplete work was open for the two girls to see.

He froze on his seat, trying to come up with an excuse as to why he was using them as the medium of his work. He quickly grabbed the sketchpad and pencil and closed it, dumping it back to his backpack. "Sorry," He muttered under his breath.

"No, I'm not a new student, you're right. The school? It's great! Most of the time. Sometimes, a few of the girls in our grade...well...there can be drama. But if you stay out of it, like me, you shouldn't have any trouble. Maybe if you eat lunch with me tomorrow I could point them out to you."

"Drama can..." Casey started a sentence, changed her mind, and began again. "Lunch? Yeah, that'd be great! If that's alright with you, of course. I mean, you were the one who brought it up, so I figured it'd be okay, but if it's not or it's weird or anything I..." She was starting to lose track of herself again (she had to remind herself not to do that). Taking a deep breath, she regained a smile and continued. "Know what? I'd love that."

"Hey Casey, what does Tyler's name mean?"

Cara reentered the conversation, a conversation that Casey hadn't even noticed she'd left. For all she knew, Cara hadn't heard a word of what she'd said. She shook it off. "Mmh -- Tyler's name. Tyler. Tyler is an occupational name. A tile maker, someone who works with tiles. The English could've been more... original with that, I think, but it's still very nice, and --" Thunk.

Casey drew a shuddery breath before turning to inspect the sound. Tyler sat there, with a strange expression plastered onto his face, his sketchbook open on the floor. It must've fallen. For a moment, Casey thought it must've been her fault that he'd dropped his book. She'd offended him. For some reason, he had something against tiles and the men who deal in them. But it didn't take her long to realize what was going on (she might not seem it, but Casey was very perceptive, and certainly no idiot). Tyler picked up the sketchbook and went to dump it into his backpack. On the way up, the page Tyler was working on flipped backwards to face her, and Casey saw the picture as it went into the bag. "Oh..." she breathed, leaning down to pick up his pencil and holding it out to him.

The sketch was, after all, quite beautiful.

[OOC: My sick-person mind is being annoying. But, hey, I posted. Also, I figured I might warn you guys now: I'll be gone from Friday to late Monday. I'll try to post Friday morning before I leave and Monday night as soon as I get back. Casey will have to go to an appointment or something, so that I'm not holding anybody up. Goodnight, guys!]

Just then Tyler noticed that Casey had handed him his pencil back, he had forgotten about his precious pencil after all the scrambling he did to hide his work. He smiled at the girl and slowly took it from her hand, "Thanks."

He let it roll on his desk before slamming his hand on it before it rolled off again. He then lifted his gaze towards the two girls, trying to capture still their faces. He had every intention in finishing his sketch but maybe later when it wasn't awkward.

"If the two of you doesn't have anything to do after school, I know a great place just outside of the town," He suggested. He wasn't sure how he would invite Cara alone, so he decided to invite Casey as well. "It isn't as famous and pristine as the restaurant in town but they serve good burgers and great milkshake." He continued. Hoping the two girls would say yes. But most importantly- Cara.

"Whatcha say Casey?" He tried to direct his question towards the new girl, maybe he wouldn't be so obvious towards his admiration for Cara.

Cara couldn't help but smile as Casey spouted out the meaning of Tyler's name. It was impressive. How could she remember all that? Suddenly, she heard a clamor over in Tyler's direction. She turned and saw his pencil lying on the floor. She leaned over to grab it, but stopped short as his sketch pad fell to the ground. She stared down at an image of her and Casey and couldn't hide her surprise. Her mouth dropped open.

"Hey that's really good!" Cara exclaimed at Tyler. She loved art and loved having things in common with people. "I didn't know you were into art!" She said happily, grinning at Tyler. Tyler quickly put away his work, and thanked Casey for his pencil.

Cara was pleasantly surprised when Tyler asked if she and Casey wanted to hang out after school. Jay had sorta canceled on her for tonight, well postponed would probably be a better word. It would be a great opportunity to get to know both Casey and Tyler better. She smiled at Tyler. "That sounds great. Milkshakes are my favorite!" She looked over at Casey, waiting for her reply too.

Emmy looked up to see Rosa across from her, she could see the look her friend gave her and she gave a slightly small smirk then walked over to Rosa and put her arm in Rosa's "I got everything we need for this evening, we should have a grand time this evening." She smiled over to Remy and put her other arm into Remys and then started to walk over to the main office.

"I have to pick my stuff up at the main office where I left it, they wouldnt let me go to the dorms first to drop it off" she rolled her eyes then continued walking until they where at the main office. She waved to the secretary then grabbed her bags then motioned to the other two girls and started walking to the dorms.

When they finally got to the dorms she saw Demi and some guy talking and shook her head passing them and finally found the door with her name on it and another girls name "Whose Casey? She must be new because I have never seen the name before". She unlocked the door and pushed the door open and walked in putting her things down near the bed away from the door. "Well come in and make yourself comfortable" she said as she flopped on her bed and layed on her belly and took out her phone. She messaged a couple of friends then sent one to Cara and one to Darcy.

The bell rang and Cara looked over at Casey. "Hey, it was nice meeting you. I'll see you at lunch tomorrow!" She gave her a friendly grin and turned to Tyler. "I'm gonna go back to my dorm, but you can text me if you want to go to that Burger Place you were talking about. Maybe we could sketch together, too!" She smiled at him. "You have my number, right? Here it is, just in case." She scribbled it down on a piece of paper and slid it across the table toward him. "See you!" She said and walked out of the classroom. She went to her locker, grabbed her things, then headed back to her dorm.

Once she got there, she half-unpacked her things, mainly the stuff she would need for that night. She made her bed, and when she finished she plopped down on top of it. She wondered when Lacey, her roommate, would get there. Cara suddenly realized she'd forgotten to check her phone. Two texts, one from Jay she was expecting, one from Emmy she was not.

To: Jay
From: Cara
Maybe we could switch places (: Never mind, I don't to torture you, haha.
Definitely! See you then (:

From: Cara

And I have tentative plans, but if they don't work I'll be there!

As soon as the bell rang students scurried off to different directions. He looked at Cara as the girl quipped in and said,
"I'm gonna go back to my dorm, but you can text me if you want to go to that Burger Place you were talking about. Maybe we could sketch together, too!" He smiled and nodded.

She smiled back at him then asked [/i]"You have my number, right? Here it is, just in case."[/i] Cara then scribbled her number down on a piece of paper and slid it across the table toward him. "See you!" Were her final words before she disappeared.

Tyler held the piece of paper and stared at it like a moron. Not bad Neemson, not bad. He praised his self and stood up and left the classroom with his things.

~~~~~~
The rest of the day passed by like a hurricane as Tyler went about it. Soon the classes were done and Tyler walked towards his dorm room. He noticed that the 1/3 of his room mate has already arrived and occupied the remaining bed. He quickly changed into his work clothes and grabbed his back pack and helmet. He usually do part time at the burger station he invited Cara and Casey at, he gets employers discount and a good extra income that he saves up for his grand parents. He rarely uses the money his parents' send him and would rather earn his spending money on his own. He ran towards the ground floor when someone stopped him and handed him a piece of flyer. It was about a party that was going to be thrown later that evening. He wasn't the party type but if the two girls would want to go, as well as Lacey, then that could change his mind.
He hurried to his big bike and rode off, once he arrived outside of town and to his workplace, he sent Cara and Casey a text each.
To:Cara and Casey
From: Tyler
If you still want to push through with the burger, fries and milkshake after class. I'll see you here. It's on me.
The owner welcomed him and soon enough he started wearing his apron and started flipping burgers on the stove.
Casey Vermette
Casey exited the counselor's office in a hurry. Although she'd been cleared to go to school for quite a while now, they still insisted that she visit the school's counselor every once in a while for a quick chat ("If she doesn't receive constant treatment, we run the risk that she could relapse. We wouldn't want that, now, would we, Mr. and Mrs. Vermette?"). Gathering her stuff, a singular bag which contained all of her belongings, she got directions from Ms. Overly Cheery The Front Desk Lady and rushed off to find her dorm.
The moment she arrived, she knew that something was wrong.
People. Too many people. So many people, streaming in and out of her dorm and swaying under the influence of the music and who knows what else. She searched the crowd for a familiar face, an anchor, someone she knew, and although for a moment she thought she spotted ever-friendly Cara, it was only for a moment before she got sucked back into the room. Vaguely, she felt something smash against her foot -- her bag, she must have dropped it. The light became blinding, the sounds pulsed and pounded through her skull, and she could just hear her labored breathing through the dull thrumming. She was losing it, big time. She had to regain control of her senses, and quickly, she knew, but her mind continued racing. Wasn't supposed to have a roommate... a mistake... doctor requested... but then, who...? Shaking her head, trying to rid herself of the feeling that she was underwater, Casey straightened her back and forced herself to push through the door, though the dizziness, and made it into the room, where she stood, staring.
[OOC: Ok, so... no. Not the best post ever. But I am back, and they will get better, and I'm glad to see that my char's temporary disappearance didn't have any negative affects.]
Cara Williams
Cara typed a reply to the text from Tyler. She hoped he would arrive at the party soon, she wanted to hang out with him. She also wondered if Jay would be at the party.
Awesome! (: I'm gonna head down to the party, text when you get here!
Hey, are you coming to the party??
Cara headed down to Emmy's room, people were everywhere. She looked around for someone she would be interested in talking to, and she spotted Casey. She smiled, but Casey disappeared after a few seconds. Cara noticed she had looked stressed out. Cara walked down the hall, after Casey. She wanted to talk to her.
Casey Vermette
Casey stood stiff and still, a solid statue amongst the celebrating students. (So many s's!) Her eyes swept the room, trying to find a nice place to tuck herself away. There was a comfortable looking loft to her right, but two girls, obviously enjoying the party, were already making their way towards it. Two more beds, one in front of her and one behind, and another on the far wall to her left. That would be the one. But even far from the core of the excitement as it was, the party still managed to reach the area of the bed. A couple, it looked like, sat on the bed, kissing and talking and doing other very couple-like things, and a group of freshmen hung out at the foot. What about... hmm... under the bed? Not exactly the best way to start off the school year, but Casey was no stranger to the bottom of a bed, and it was as good as any place. Now there was only one problem, and that was the actual action of getting there. She stared down at her feet. Nothing. Willed them to move. Nothing. Anything! Step? Tap? Twitch? No, nothing. It was getting ridi-- Tap.
That got her moving. Casey jumped, a violent shiver skittering up her spine. Someone had tapped her on the back. Slowly, she turned around to find...
"C-Ca!" Her voice cracked and pitched, and she took a moment to adjust. "Cara! I'm sorry I had to... go after the bell rang, but I had something very important that needed taking care of and I... I... I thought you were going to be hanging out with Tyler tonight?"
[OOC: I sort of assumed that Cara tried making contact with Casey. If there's some sort of problem with that, tell me and I'll change it or whatever.]
Cara nodded at Casey. "Yeah," she said with a slight giggle. "Are...are you okay? You seemed a little, I don't know..stressed out? Kinda tense?" She looked at Casey, who seemed flustered. Cara wanted to put her arm on Casey's shoulder to sort of comfort her, but didn't want to stress her out more if she didn't liked being touched by other people. "Well, yeah I was. But then the whole party happened so I invited him here instead. I think he might show up soon." Cara explained to Casey. Her phone buzzed and she quickly sent a reply, not wanting Casey to think she was uninterested in conversation.
Yeah, sure, if you have time!
She looked back up at Casey.
