His hair is another matter. Not only is it longer than it has any business being, being down to the small of his back, but it has also been the cause of so many rejected job interviews. Not because of the length, but the color. Naturally, it is orangish blonde, but has ,within the last few years, been dying it black. Like many of the Sohma members, he is regarded as highly attractive even when pushing 30 years of age.

✖ People assuming he is one way in general without asking.

❝Welcome to my Life❞

Personality
Gengaku is very quiet and stoic on the best of days, often looking more like a body guard than someone's cousin when going out on a day trip, however he doesn't mean to be this way. He is actually warm and friendly, if not a jerk when it comes to giving people the truth. As blunt as he is at times, he always does it to help his family, at the very least to get them on their feet. He is willing to cook for the family, those who come over to his home are often invited to stay the night if need be and will tend to the sick no matter who they are. This stoic and hard exterior tends to break down in front of family, becoming warmer and fun loving, albeit a bit oblivious at times.
However! An ox is also known for it's anger and Gengaku is no acceptation. Nothing is as scary then a raging Gengaku. He has been known to beat someone into submission for crossing him or hurting a family member. He is one of those people that if you see angry, you never want to see again for fear that you will be the target of this. It doesn't happen often though. the most he will get is irritated and turning into an asshole who really wants to chill out somewhere else.

Theme Song
Bones-MsMr

❝Who I Am❞

History
Gengaku is one of the older Juunishi, making him one of the ones the others go to for advice since he's he's nearly lived all kinds of incidents and mishaps that could befall someone. He would say that his life was fairly normal for someone like him, the truth is far more...odd than one might think.
His childhood was something of a strange circumstance, His mother, a sohma member, abandoned him and his father soon after birth, saying that she didn't want a cow freak as a son. His father, on the other hand, did everything that they could since they were not too well off. Him working late and neglecting his own health to take care of him. Gengaku cites these days as oddly happy, as there were days when they could spend time together. His curse did not bother the him as it should have, times when he did turn into a calf, he only calmed him down. Never letting the fact that he was bovine ever taint his vision of his little boy. For this reason though, they both moved back to the island of Okinawa where he spent most of his childhood.
These times didn't last long though. His mother came back into the picture once he turned 15 demanding that he be brought to the Sohma house since he is one of the zodiac. Gen wanted nothing to do with her at that point, they had started to to just get their feet off the ground when his father opened a takoyaki bar. but since they were still married, the bar technically belonged to her as well and the bickering and madness still continued. They soon had to move back onto the mainland and back into Tokyo where the bar really took off while the change in atmosphere took a small toll on the bovine cursed boy.
In the midst of all this, Gengaku managed to keep his grades up in school and go to culinary school. While he did eventually go the the Sohma estate, he is not there often. Mostly to keep the bickering between his mother and father to a minimum as it still persist to this day, though his father is now pushing 70 and falling ill. He still keeps a good relationship with him, and with the inevitability of death looming over him, not only is he now working in a high-class restaurant to make his father's last days comfortable, but now is trying to raise enough money to have a proper burial for his father. Even with this, there is a running joke that's become a wish from him. "Find someone that is kind to you. Gods know I haven't."
Thoughts on Other Characters
Miyako - "I don't resent the rat in the least, I do feel sorry for her. But she eats my food, so I'm happy."
Suzu - "I play games with her from time to time. She tends to get my ass into gear whenever I fell lazy."
Kimiko - "She also eats my food....Other than that, she's fairly...what do you call it? Stressed out beyond all reason. Even if she's trying not to look it."
Turi - "I don't get to see her often. She's an angry one though, but when nearly the entire family hates your very soul for something that really wasn't your fault. I can see why that would make someone pissed off all the time."
Kohaku - "I don't get the appeal of gothic lolita...at all."
Takehiko - "Who? Tachibana? I've heard the surname before. Never heard of this person though."
Callista - "Calli? Calli and I talk all the time when I go to Lekkerbiskener for my morning fix of those little chocolate filled doughnut holes. MMMmmmm~ I've also invited her over to the restraunt for a free lunch sometime ago, but I think I may have come off as creepy for that. Oops."
Kaze - "Godsdamnit this kid's gonna be the death of me. Last time I heard he was on the roof of the Sohma Estate?!"

ImageMiyako stretched, she had received a fair amount of sleep so she was fairly happy with her more relaxed state. Shadow, her cat, meowed in protest to her moving around. "Good morning to you too, Shadow."

Shadow glared at Miyako, jumped off the bed and sauntered over to his food bowl.

"I'm sorry. I'll sleep on the floor next time." Miyako swung her legs over the side of the bed and into her slippers. "Time for school." Miyako started the day off with her usual routine. Shower, eat, clean out Shadow's liter box and let him outside. Shadow was 'officially' the cat of the Estate, going from house to house and getting cared for my practically everyone. But Miyako had bought him, raised him and loved him. She let him out when she got up so that if anyone came over, they wouldn't know she, the Rat, had a cat. The liter box was always clean and hidden, just like the food bowl.

If she could, she would let everyone know that she loved cats, but it wouldn't make the Head happy. And Miyako's entire existance was to make him happy. It was her 'position', her 'role'.

A glance at the clock revealed that it was about time for Miyako to head out. She decided to put her hair in a fairly loose side ponytail, along with a beige knitted sweater that was slightly big on her, a flowing mid-thigh black skirt, knee-high sock and a pair of slip on black shoes. With that and her shoulder back pack, Miyako was prepared for the trip to her university. Luckily, it was a very mild day, perfect for Miyako's delicate health. If it was too cold, she would faint. Too hot, she would faint. But today was perfect.

"Good morning Miyako!" One of the maids was sweeping the walkway in front of Miyako's house.

"Good morning," Miyako said with a wave. "How is everyone? Did Sona get over her cold?"

"Ah, yes! Thank you for the rice porridge! She loved it."

Miyako nodded, she was always happy to help. The walk to the front gate wasn't that long, maybe a minute or two. The Estate was huge after all, what would anyone expect. On the way to her university, Miyako passed parks, train tracks, children playing, other kids getting ready to leave for school and stores upon stores. She stopped by a coffee shop closer to her school for some coffee.

"Oh!" Miyako dug around in her bag, pulling out a small container that looked almost like a wallet. But it had her daily medications inside, for days that she left for school and forgot to take her medication at home. Miyako popped a few pills into her mouth, took a nice chug of coffee and continued on her walk to school.

Ren groaned as he rolled out of bed in the morning, why did school have to be so early? Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Ren shuffled into the bathroom to get ready. Ren noticed that his hair was especially wild today so he made a mental note to wear a hat.

After Ren had finished in the bathroom he was much more awake, grinning to himself he skipped merrily to his closet before pulling the first things his hands came in contact with. Pulling on the horribly mismatched clothes, Ren chuckled at himself as he dug through his drawers for a pair of socks. Not caring that he looked like a blind person had picked out his outfit, Ren ran down stairs and turned on some music as he readied his breakfast and lunch.

Ren had never been a very good cook, so the runny mess that used to be an egg before it was brutally murdered didn't faze him. Hurriedly stuffing his face full of breakfast, Ren put his plate in the dishwasher as he skipped out of the now ruined kitchen. How it'd gotten so messy when he'd only made two eggs and some horribly burnt toast? The world my never know.

Pulling on some brown boots, Ren reached inside the downstairs closet and pulled out a stocking cap. Pulling it over his head and down to his ears, Ren gave a toothy grin as a few wild snow colored locks of hair poked out from underneath the black cap. Running out the door Ren breathed in the fresh air before his eyes widened and he ran back into the kitchen where he'd left his lunch and school bag.

Skipping out the door and into the crisp morning air, Ren waved at everyone he passed, sending a quick, "Hello!" before carrying on his way to the high school. Ren ignored the strange looks people gave him and smiled at the thought of seeing everyone at school. He couldn't wait to see his best friend Akihiko today! Grinning at the thought, he didn't notice the part of the pavement that was uneven until it was to late. Falling Ren couldn't help but let a squeak escape as he hit the pavement. Looking up, Ren noticed that his lunch had fallen out of the bag and was now all over the sidewalk. Sighing, Ren got up and dusted him self off. Picking up the little of his lunch that could be saved Ren couldn't help but frown, "Maybe today won't be such a good day..."

" Have you ever heard a melody that brings to mind the most rare of colors - Lapis Lazuli? ?"

No ... It's too early to get up ... I don't wanna get up ... God, what's the annoying sound? Red. It's red. There's no way that's a part of my dream ... Oh ... Wait ... I know what it is ...

Slowly blinking her eyes open, Callista groaned, rolling over and tossing her arm out in frustration. The alarm clock was obnoxiously loud, sending red colors everywhere.

"Okay, okay, I get it! Now stop giving me red and shut up already!" she practically snarled, smashing a fist down on the alarm. It finally stopped ringing, causing her to grumble in relief. The red faded, giving her a reprieve of the color and sound.

"Damned Chromesthesia ..." she muttered. Snuggling into the covers for a moment, she cursed what was undoubtedly cold air that surrounded her bed, before tossing back the blankets. "Dammit, it's so freaking cold! Gengaku, why the Hell isn't the heat on?" she shouted.

Needless to say, Callista was not a morning person.

Sitting up slowly, her hand rose to rub sleepily at one of her eyes. Combined with her afro-like hair and gentle features, she looked much like a child who was slowly meeting the day. She sat there for a moment, plainly zoning out in her tiredness, before she hefted her legs over the side of her bed and pushed herself up, her slippers cool at first but quickly warming to the temperature of her feet. Her overly-large t-shirt fell to mid-thigh unless she stretched, which would then send it to a zone that was very iffy in appropriateness.

Walking from her room, she stretched her arms above her head, her joints popping and a small groan escaping her lips.

"God damn, it's way too early ..." she muttered, glancing blearily at a nearby clock. Six a.m. was an ungodly hour for someone to be up at. Seriously, why does it even exist?

Padding into the kitchen, she put on some coffee and easily began to fry some bacon. As those were making and cooking, she dropped several slices of toast into the toaster and started making a dozen eggs. One could never cook too much for Gengaku, who was like a bottomless pit when it concerned food.

As those were cooking, she padded down the hall to Gengaku's room, lifted a fist, and promptly began to bang loudly on his door.

"Gengaku! Get your ass out of bed before I drag it out! And we both know that you'd rather I not see you bare-ass naked!"

When this gained down response, she heaved a sigh. "I suppose there's no helping it, but don't say I didn't warn you!"

Turning on her heel, she strode back into the kitchen, dug out a soup pot, and poured half of the ice from the ice-maker into it. She then filled it halfway with water, hefted it up, and quickly made her way back down to his room. She tip-toed into it, an evil glint in her eyes as she did so, and as soon as she was beside his bed, she lifted it above her head.

"I warned you, no I'm making you get out of bed!" she sang, tilting the pot over and spilling the freezing-cold contents all over his upper body. Letting out a snicker of laughter, she danced back so that she would be out of his reach, and promptly scampered over to the doorway. "Get your ass out of bed, Gengaku," she laughed, slamming the door shut behind her and returning to the kitchen.

It didn't take her long to finish preparing breakfast, and she made out two plates and two cups of coffee for both of them. Taking the plates to their small table, she flipped the television to the local news, sat cross-legged on the floor, and sipped her coffee.

"Candy? Did somebody say candy? I want some candy!"

Aki scowled at the stove, slapping her hand down on the counter beside it.

"Seriously, why can't I afford a new stove? I swear, this thing is going to blow my house up," she grumbled. She turned to her lunch and quickly packed it, along with a bit extra in case Ren decided to pick off of it as usual, before grabbing a bagel and shoving it in her mouth as a holding area. She moved to the door of her tiny house, slipped on her brown shoes, and adjusted the skirt of her school uniform. Straightening the tie at her chest, she shook her hair out before fluffing it with her hands. The pink fluff around it was slightly restrained by several ribbons, making it a bit more containable.

Glancing at herself in the mirror, she nodded firmly before stepping through the door of her house. Locking it behind her, she started down the path that would take her to Ren's house.

It was a bit chilly outside for it to be so early in the school year, but the weather on the Sohma estate had always been contradictory, especially when it was about to rain. The clouds were dark above her head, and she grimaced at the thought.

It would be just what she needed for it to rain when she had forgotten her umbrella.

Glancing back down at the path, she quickened her pace. It was just as she stepped onto the porch and under the roof of Ren's house that she felt the first drop of rain. Immediately afterwards, it was like the sky had broken up and was releasing a large amount of water.

When a knock on his door gained her no response, she peaked inside. The lights were off, so it was quite obvious that Ren had already left. Perhaps he had planned to meet her.

Shrugging, she snatched up an umbrella that sat just inside the doorway, shut the door firmly, and started down the path.

It was when she turned a corner that she found Ren.

He was on his knees, his spirit apparently deflated. Biting off the piece of her bagel that had been in her mouth, she moved over to him, holding the umbrella above his body.

"Renny, why are you on the-"

It was only then that she noticed the splay of food on the pathway. Shaking her head, she leaned over just a bit, holding her free hand out as an offer to help him up. A small smile quirked up her lips.

"Come on. Let's walk to school together, okay? You can share my lunch. I packed extra. I have a feeling that this was going to happen," she said with a reassuring smile.

"Come on, Renny. If you don't stand up, you're going to catch a cold, and then we'll both be out of school because I'll be stuck at home giving you soup," she said. She held her hand closer to him. "Today will be fine."

"So let's walk to school together, okay?"

Kaze never really had use for an alarm. Seriously, if you barely went to school like he did, what was the point? Of course, that didn't mean he was allowed to sleep in today. With all the hustle and noise coming from the rest of the estate, who could? With a slightly annoyed grunt as he stretched and sat up, he walked over to the edge of the Estate's main house. Taking out a canteen and brush, he began to quickly brush his teeth, spitting the water used to rinse his mouth onto the ground below. Putting the brush and canteen to the side, he watched as others left the area to go to school.

First to leave was Miyako, her air of perfection trailing behind her. Second came a rushing Ren, who ended up tripping and spilling the contents of his lunch all over the ground. Kaze just watched him from afar, attempting to cover his need to laugh out loud. His joy was snuffed out pretty quickly as a drop of rain hit him on the nose. Without any warning the skies let down a torrent of water. Kaze moved quickly, throwing a waterproof tarp over his items that were on the roof. Pros about living on a roof were having a nice view of the sunset, sunrise and stars. Cons of roof-dwelling were you had no protection from the elements. After he had covered his belongings from the rain, he turned back to the albino male who had fallen before. Only this time, he wasn't alone. He was accompanied by one pink-haired girl, Akihiko. "Awww. Isn't that cute." Kaze snickered, talking to no one in particular.

He hated school, no doubt about that, but the first day was one that he always made sure he went to. It was easily one of the more interesting days and it was on that day when he would decide whether or not he would go to class that year. Reaching under his tarp, Kaze took out an umbrella and held it in his mouth. He then pulled out his bag and slung it across his shoulder. He descended from his perch on the roof before opening his umbrella. As he started off on his way to the school he couldn't help but wish that this year might actually prove to be interesting. Of course, he had his doubts.

Gengaku Sohma

Image
Lazy morning. The cook of the Sohma family loved lazy mornings. They where relaxing, comforting and most of all, he didn't have to do a damned thing. No morning work. The youngins' were going to school so, so no surprise visits until late and he had the day off. It was glorious!

However, there where some things that still irritated the hell out of him to wake him up slightly. Like the sound of an alarm clock going off some where down the hall. His home was a good size for him and a few guests and not living on the sohma estate was a huge plus. He peeked his head from under the covers into his near pitch black room. Red numbers shone back at him, making him growl. "It's six in the morning. Only the youngins' get up this early." He mumbled to himself as he rolled over attempting to go back to sleep.

But sleep didn't come.

"Gengaku! Get your ass out of bed before I drag it out! And we both know that you'd rather I not see you bare-ass naked!"

"IT'S TOO FUCKIN EARLY!"

He had nearly forgot he was living with the girl from the bakery from sleep feeling so good. But living with someone who literally hears colors was someone intresting. He huffed once he heard her padding away from his door and again attempted to make himself drift into dream land. Knowing he'd be more active later in the morning, he settled himself into the covers and soon drifted off again.

"I warned you, no I'm making you get out of bed!" Gengaku's eyes shot open from those words, but it was far too late to react as the cold water and ice spilled onto his body through the comforter. He screamed a bellowing roar to the heavens from the sheer cold combined with the coolness of the house and thrashed himself out of bed and on the to the floor. "Get your ass out of bed, Gengaku" "I fucking hate you right now...." He muttered, his face still in the floor.

As much as he wanted to sleep some more, he now was awake and irritated and all wet from the water. He sighed as she got himself to his feet. His room was warm as could be, aside from the cold water and wet comforter, but he soon pulled on a purple kimono in laziness and wandered out into the hall, feeling the coldness of the rest of the house. He made a beeline for the heater, cranking it on before heading into the living area and kitchen. "Are we gonna go through this routine every morning where I don't have work or is this just a onetime thing?" He asked as he made a beeline for the food. If he was up any earlier, he would have made breakfast, but to be perfectly honest with himself, he would have opted for a greasy burger and fries right about now.

His long hair was a mess, still half wet and dragging across everything as he plopped himself next to the pink haired girl still balancing his food and coffee. "And why, pray tell, are we up this early in the morning for?" He asked as he lay there beside her.

Kimi groaned as she heard her alarm go off. Reaching her hand out blindly, Kimi moved her hand around her nightstand trying to find the source of the horrible ringing. Grimacing as she felt her hand knock the alarm onto the ground, Kimi quickly jumped out of bed to make sure the alarm was alright. I swear Kimi if you've broken another alarm clock! But as the girl walked over to check on it, her foot caught in the bed sheets and she found herself face-down on the floor.

After Kimi had gotten herself ready, she walked into the kitchen in search of some breakfast. Opening the cupboards Kimi sighed, "Well...looks like it's bread and jam this morning...".

After a delicious breakfast of bread and jam, Kimi packed up her lunch and made sure she had everything in her bag before opening up the door and stepping outside. ...Only to find it was raining. 'Figures...', turning back towards the door, Kimi went to open it. "Seriously?!" Seriously. The door was locked and Kimi had forgotten her keys inside. Again. Kimi couldn't even begin to tell you how many times she'd had to ask the head to let her into her house after locking herself out. "Unbelievable..."

Deciding to walk on the side of the street with more trees, Kimi continued her walk to school in the rain without an umbrella. Kimi sighed as she looked down at her soaking uniform, each step her feet took a quiet squish sound could be heard. Looking up at the sky, Kimi took a deep breath of the morning air. Letting the raindrops hit her face Kimi smiled. Yes she'd most likely end up with a cold, but Kimi didn't necessarily hate the rain, so for now she'd enjoy it. Until a terrible thought struck her. Gasping, Kimi quickly fumbled with her school bag as she opened it. Looking inside Kimi breathed a sigh of relief, her sketch pad was ok. Smiling, Kimi continued her walk to school.

Reaching the school gates Kimi sighed. 'One more year' Kimi reminded herself, 'Just one more year...'. Stepping inside the gates Kimi made a beeline for the school, she'd been in the rain long enough. Feeling her face heat up as people stared at her soaked self in question, Kimi kept her head down and felt like things couldn't get worse. Until she slipped as soon as she got inside the school.

"Life is whatever you make it out to be. And I make mine into a rainbow."

It was a while before Gengaku joined her at the table, but she wasn't worried about him falling asleep again. The man had cursed her name, but at least he was awake and there was no way he would be getting back to sleep after the cold water she had dumped on him.

Smirking again, Callista glanced up as Gengaku joined her. Pointing a yolk-smeared fork at his face, she nodded at the TV.

"Did you see this? There was a four-car pileup on the street that my bakery is on. Apparently four people were seriously injured and one even died," she said, completely ignoring his question, as per norm for her. Moving her coffee mug in a circle, she sipped at it, inhaling the aroma deeply.

It was only once she had finished her food that she answered his question.

"Well, you seem to have forgotten a certain promise you made me in exchange from me to come to your restaurant, kuk*," she said, rolling her eyes. "You promised to help me at the bakery today since I'm short on staff and I need to get some cleaning done, and since this is the only day that isn't the weekend that I don't have any classes and you're off, we can only do it today. Besides, we planned this last week, so it's not like I caught you off-guard - and you know what time I have to get to the bakery - cafe - whatever you want to call it - in order to bake all of the food, make all of the coffee and tea, prepare all of the sandwiches, and ... Well ... Get all of our food and drink products together," she said. She leaned over and tapped his nose with another eye roll.

Pushing herself to her feet, she gathered her dirty plate and looked down at him, completely oblivious to the view that he undoubtedly would have up her baggy t-shirt. Narrowing her eyes down at him, she focused in on his face. "And don't even think about skipping out on me, because you made a promise - and a promise is a promise," she snapped, already moving towards the kitchen.

It didn't take her long to wash her dishes and head to her room to shower and change. She soon returned with a towel wrapped around her body, moved over to his side, and glowered down at him.

"Gengaku, get your lazy ass moving. We need to leave in .." She glanced over at the clock on the wall, her eyes flashing open. "Ten minutes!" she squeaked out, turning and rushing back to her bedroom.

It took only five minutes for her to change into her jeans-shorts, tank top, and boots, and she was moving towards the door, purse, jacket, umbrella, and keys in hands.

"Gengaku, come on! I'm going to leave, and it's not going to be without you - so either you come fully dressed and willingly, or naked and against your own will," she shouted from the doorway.

(*kuk = Dick)

Akihiko Sohma

"Just give me a sec - I was busy eating some food."

When he finally took her hand, Akihiko helped to pull him to his feet. Her brows drew together. He was pushing himself far too much.

Not very many people knew the true emotions that Ren felt, but Akihiko was one of them - mostly due to the fact that they had been best friends since they were babies. Born very closely together, they had been inseparable since birth, especially since they were both Cursed. This of course had brought them together - and they both live alone, which wasn't rare, but it was another thing that they had had in common.

Shaking her head, she opened her mouth to speak, but was cut off as she was bumped from behind by someone rushing by. Glancing after the person, she frowned.

How rude.

"Hello Turi!"

'Don't yell my name out you stupid mutt!"

Her eyes instantly hardened. She had never had a problem with the cat, and in fact had tried to befriend her - only to be rejected. She had recovered, but ever since then, the young woman had been nothing but outright rude to her. She didn't mind, however, because she was used to it, but for her to be rude to Ren, when all he had done was called a friendly hello to her, pissed her off.

Her eyes narrowing, Aki shoved her things into Ren's hands, completely ignoring Suzu as she offered them a ride. Striding down the wet sidewalk, she practically threw the umbrella into Turi's hands.

"You can be as much of a bitch as you want to me, but the next time that I hear you utter a single rude word to Ren-chan, I'm going to make sure you regret it. I don't care if you've had a shitty life - we all have. You aren't the only one who has suffered because of this damned curse. So stop acting like a pussy and taking your attitude out on anyone and everyone who tries to be nice to you."

"Now have a nice, God damned day, you bitch," she snapped, turning and storming off through the rain, completely ignoring the fact that she was instantly soaked.

When she reached the car, she grabbed Ren's arm and yanked him inside it after her, took her bag and the lunch that she planned to share with him, and settled both in her lap. She snapped on her seatbelt before leaning forward between to the two front seats.

"Thank you for the offer for the ride, Niisan," she said. Dropping back into her seat, she turned to Ren and dropped her hand down onto his wet hair.

"Hey, don't push yourself okay?" she said quietly, her eyes holding his. "If you aren't happy, than you can tell me. Don't push yourself to put on a happy face. I know you well enough to know when you're lying and when you're upset. So don't pretend around me, okay Renny?" she finished, brushing his bangs from his face. She leaned back from him and face forward, smiling at Suzu. "So what's on your To-Do list today?"

"Hey! You two get in, I'll drive you to school so you don't get too wet." Grinning at the tiger, Ren turned to his Akihiko, "We'll have to talk about this later. Now-" grabbing his friend's hand he ran towards the car, "hurry or we'll be late!"

Gengaku snorted, the Ox in him annoyed at the fact that he had forgotten this promise and that he was up so early in the morning. Granted she could have turned the offer down at any time, she knew all to well that he always made good on his promised. That and it had been a long time since he had had his hands in dough and baked. He rolled his eyes and lifted his head from out of the floor.

He nearly inhaled his food, knowing full well that if he didn't eat now, he'd eat everything that came near him.

"Fine. I'll be ready in..." the moment he looked up, he had gotten a full glance up her skirt and smacked his face back into the floor. The hard floor. It made a hard knocking sound as he tried to get the image out of his mind as he got up off the ground and back to his room. "Þú getur ekki sett á sumum buxum ??!*" He yelled from his room as he put on his more casual wear. A black and purple kimono and his hair still waving behind him, although he still looked tired from being woken up abruptly.

He came back out of the room, yawning as he cracked his neck and shivered. "It would be better if it wasn't raining today." he said keeping his gaze on the window. He had his neck corset on again, something that he wasn't ever without and was near omnipresent on his person, this time having a Ox charm on it. The charm changed nearly everyday if he didn't forget it.

"You wanna take the car or what?" he asked, now awake and scratching the underside of the collar.

*You can't put on some pants??!

"Life is funny, isn't it? And when I hear laughter ... I see yellow. The color of happiness."

Casting a smirk over he shoulder at Gengaku, Callista opened the front door.

"You know that I find pants constricting. Without them, I can actually sleep. Which is why I don't wear them to bed," she said, as if it were a normal thing for girls to go half-naked while sleeping in a house with a man who was nearly a decade older than she was.

"Besides, you and I both know that your perverted nature is being put to the test right now. 'Does he dare defile a woman so much younger than he? Is he truly a cradle robber like everyone says? Will he give into his sexual fantasies and tie her to his bed with ropes and chains?'" she joked as they climbed into the little Honda. Snapping on her seat belt and starting the car, she flipped on the American artist Lindsey Stirling, immediately filling the car with electronic, dub-step violin.

They rode in silence the entire way to her little shop. The police were still taking care of the accident that had occurred, so they were forced to take a detour and loop around the entire block.

Parking behind the building, Callista climbed from the car, turning it off as she moved. She flipped through her key chain until she reached the shiny silver key that went to the restaurant's back door.

"Alright, first we have to put the bread into the prepping oven. While it's rising, we need to," the door popped open as she was speaking, and she walked through without pausing, "Prepare muffin mix for ten dozen muffins, doughnut batter for twenty dozen doughnuts, and also prepare two dozen orders of each sandwich on the menu. In addition, we need to prepare enough cookie mix for twenty dozen cookies, and bake three cakes of each type that I offer. Once we're done with that, we need to make coffee, tea, smoothies, and milkshakes," she said, flipping on light switches as she walked.

Disappearing through the door that separated the front of the store from the back prep room, she retrieved a menu from the stack on the counter. Once she was back in the prepping area, she placed the menu on the counter that he would be working at.

"Oh! And we need to make four of each type of pie I offer, too. Here's the menu* of treats I offer. We have until nine o'clock to get this done - that gives us a little less than three hours."

Gengaku Sohma

Image

"I'm not a pervert damnit." This was not the first time Gengaku was accussed of being a pervert. Then again, there was a time where everyone thought he was gay as well. He rolled his eyes, trying to cover the fact that he had been trying to get various ideas out of his head by reciting his own restaurant's menu in his head. Needless to say...

It was difficult.

His climbed into the passenger's seat, not speaking a word to the pink haired woman driving and looking out the window. Sure, yes. He did have a couple kinks that he dared not speak about in front of his family or co-workers. Many of them would get him looks of him being insane and put his reputation on the line. His indulgences were his business.

That is until Callista has moved in with him.

Every night, he fought himself to not give in to his own...urges. And for the moment he was winning up until she started taunting him about it. In his mind, all kinds of things played out in his mind. None of which he wanted to speak about.

Ever.

But still, there was work to be done. And a bakery was a change of pace from the high-strung insanity of a five-star eatery.

He followed Callista around, taking in her instrutions like he was listening to ticket orders coming in on the fly...until he heard the time limit.

They had three hours to prep before opening. And the menu he was given was huge.

Then again he had seen the menu before, three years ago when he started coming for his baked goods fix and asked for what was good. But looking at it again was like taking a body blow from a sumo wrestler. His eyes went wide from this realization, but then a mischievous smirk quickly replaced it. "áskorun samþykkt." Was all he said before tying up his long hair into a messy bun. He soon got to work, a glint in his eye of being in his own element. The joy of making something one devoured and sustained their own life.

That and it kept the perverse thoughts away for now.

*Challenge accepted.

"If I promise to be good, daddy ... Will you love me then?"

The hours ticked by quickly for them after that. Callista had turned on some upbeat music to keep them going, and somehow over the course of them making all of the food, she ended up with flour all over her face, and Gengaku ended up with baking soda on the front of his kimono - and on his ass. Casting a glance at the matching hand prints on his butt, she snorted and popped a few trays of cookies into the oven.

"Well, I think that's the last of the food," she said, brushing her hands together. She moved over to the sandwiches that they had finished making and picked up a large knife, immediately beginning to portion out the sandwiches for what she gave per order. "Now all we have to do is put half of them away for when they need to be filled, and put the other half in the show-Ow!" she squeaked, jerking her hand back suddenly. Scrunching her face a bit, she cradled her hand against her chest.

After a moment, she opened the hand that held the injured one, only to find that she had made a good, solid slice into the meaty part of her thumb.

"Dritt*," she muttered, wincing as she moved quickly to the sink. Switching on the water, she ran it for a solid couple of minutes before it began to run off of her hand clear, her thumb no longer bleeding. "Drittsekk, that hurt," she hissed out. Taking quick strides to the medicine cabinet she kept in the room, she flipped it open and removed several bandages, along with anti-bacteria ointment.

Once she had bandaged her hand up, she returned to the prepping area, adjusting the tape as she did so.

"Sorry, you know how clumsy I can be, Geng-"

Drawing up short, she barely stopped herself from colliding head-first into his chest. Squeaking, she took a small step back in surprise and slowly tilted her head back to look up at him.

Callista gulped, her eyes wide and her lips turned in a way that showed that she was either embarrassed or thinking.

Well, I can't say anything bad about his looks, that's for sure ... Wait, why am I thinking about that right now? Dammit, Callista! Stop those thoughts right there! You swore off of people, especially men, after what your family did to you. Why would you start thinking in any way about someone, least of all Gengaku? He's a pervert, remember!?

Shaking her head roughly, she patted at her cheeks, only to cry out and yank her hand away, a fresh spot of blood beginning to appear through the bandages.

*Dritt ~ Shit
*drittsekk ~ Son of a Bitch

Kaze's facade dropped once he had heard Turi say her piece.
Why are you such an asshole? I'm late, you took the pests book and I wouldn't be suprised if you watched the rabbit unveil her tiny angry rage upon me. He barely registered the threat that came after as she bumped his shoulder, causing him to drop his umbrella. Instead of picking up the umbrella, he just watched the girl's back as she rushed off to her workplace. Today really just wasn't his day. Leaving his umbrella behind, he walked out from under the overhang and started towards the college. He decided upon returning the notebook then skipping school today. He was no longer in the mood to attend.

Along the way he thought about the best way to apologize. He was never really great at telling when enough was enough, but when things got to a point like now, he knew he should at least try and make amends. That being said, he felt unsure about whether or not to apologize in person as his habitual attitude would undoubtedly kick in and make things worse. In the end, he settled on just leaving a note with the textbook that had an apology written on it. Probably not the best way to apologize, but it did seem the safest.

It didn't occur to him until he arrived at the institute that he had no idea how to find Miyako. He stepped into the building at stood in front of the main office, water slightly dripping from his clothes. He took out a pen and two sticky notes. On the first, wihch he stuck on the cover of the textbook, read
"Miyako Sohma" The second sticky note, which he stuck inside the textbook with just a bit of it sticking out of the pages, read "Hiya. My apologies about before... went to far with my joke. Didn't mean anything by it. You don't gotta forgive me, just as long as you know I'm sorry." He kept it short and to the point, much like how he handled phone calls. Walking into the office, he placed the book on the secretary's counter, " Uh... This is for one of the students that attend the school here. Could you make sure she gets it for me?" The secretary replied with a nod. He gave a quick smile before heading back out the building.

He stopped in front of the building to check his watch. "I think they should be open by now... Maybe?" He mumbled to himself. He glanced back at the school once more before heading off in the direction of the bakery. He peeked into the windows, but saw no one. Double-checking his watch, Kaze figured that anyone in the bakery was busy prepping food in the back. He didn't want to be a bother so he slowly opened the door and closed it with equal volume. He plopped himself down on one of the chairs, his clothes now thoroughly soaked. Putting his headphones to his ears, he sighed. "I need a tylenol."

Turi Sohma

She was late. She was so so so late. The moment she entered the bar her boss, a large woman called Mama Rose stalked up to her. Turi could smell the liquor on her breath. 'And where have ya been Sohma!?' She hiccuped slightly but her glare could rival Turi's.

'Uh...Rose I-'

'Mama Rose!'

Turi resisted the need to roll her eyes and nodded. 'Right. Mama Rose. I ran into some....family on the way here. Lets just say I don't get along with them.' She took a small step back to watch Rose's reaction. Honestly she was scared of the woman especially when she was drunk off her ass. Like right now.

Mama Rose nodded. 'Right. Family. I understand.' Turi blinked. That was it? She didn't blow up? 'Uh...thank you Mama Rose.' The woman held up a finger to silence her. 'I ain't done Sohma. I need ya ta go ta that bakery. What's that damn place called?'

Well crap. 'Delicious Treats?' The drunk nodded and pulled out a one hundred dollar bill. 'Yeah that. Sohma I need ya ta go get me a dozen chocolate cupcakes for ma little boys birthday.' She raised an eyebrow in confusion. 'Mama Rose I'm a waitress not a-'

'Don't finish that sentence if ya want a job Sohma.' Turi's shoulders sagged and she snatched the bill from the woman's shaking hands. 'And I know how much money I'd get back Sohma! Don't cheat ya Mama Rose now!' The woman screamed this was Turi hurried out the door. Hopefully it scared some customers away just so Mama Rose would be unhappy.

It was still raining outside and as much as Turi didn't want to see her family she wanted to be in the rain even less. So still dressed in her apron she jogged to the bakery.

She pushed the door open with a sigh and with her other hand pushed her wet hair away from her face. Due to this she didn't notice the current customer already here.

Three hours of work and food handling gave the ox a look of satisfaction and happiness. Food prep was always a breeze for him and not having to work around the clock cooking would make this day a breeze to wander through. The baking soda caked on his kimono (though it wasn't a nice one), made him pat his chest downward as he inspected the food that was made. "Well, that was easier than I thought it would be." He said as he shivered, now noticing the smell that was wafting through the room.

He was about to continue and put out the baked goods when he felt Callista come very close to his chest. He looked down and blinked, focusing on the redness coming out of her thumb. He sighed. "All of us have our clumsy days, I've nearly chopped my own finger off preparing tuna. Come. I'll get that." He said, pulling out some cotton and ointment from his sleeve. As much as is rampant inner perv raged war with him at times, for once he didn't have any ultitor motives this time. Knowing how much of a pain cutting yourself in the kitchen was, he quickly bonded up the cut, still usable, but covered from the food she would be handling today. "There."

He nodded, picking up a tray of sandwiches and heading out to the front to put them out.

Only to be faced with the monkey and the cat already there.

His face showed the look of 'what-even-the-hell-are-you-doing-here?' as he put up the sandwiches. "Good morning you two. Kaze, Don't you have class today? How's work been, Turi?" He asked, trying to make small talk while he was there. Even though, at least from Turi, he was about to get an earful of shit was was too old to deal will.

Kaze... Class...?

Kaze just barely heard the other male over the sound of his music playing through his headphones. As such he wasn't initially aware of the presence of Turi. Piecing together the parts of the question that he had heard, he took of his headset to give his answer. "Oh, hey Pervaku. You're helping out the shop again?" He said, though not with his total normal vigor, "Some things came up. Had a bit of a scuffle with two others. I dropped a package of at the school, but I didn't feel like..." His voice slowly faded as he when he noticed that the cat had been at the door. He quickly composed himself, putting on the smile that people had known to be accustomed to his attitude.

"Erhm.. I felt like skipping out today for personal reasons." He finished, speaking in a more cheerful-ish manner. He moved his gaze over to his phone and scrolled through his playlist. He didn't want to focus too much on Turi considering the events of before. "Oh, hey!" He exclaimed, standing up, "You guys are baking or something right? Leper Biscuit is supposed be open after all. Do you need help with anything? Does Callista need help with anything?" He made himself out to sound excited and ready to help, but really he just wanted to get out of the main area. He did not relish the idea of ending up in another argument with the cat. He'd been called an asshole enough times for one day.

Of course, he didn't really wait for a reply. He simply hopped over the counter and barged into the kitchen area. "Hey, Callista!" He called, louder than was necessary, " How's your morning been? Good? Good. Need help? What can I do?" He barraged question after question. He was willing to do anything. Just as long as he didn't have to make more people mad today.

When Tuir saw Kaze she did nothing but roll her eyes and ignore him. She was here to get stuff for her boss and then leave and hopefully never have to come back again. The boy seemed to want to get away from Turi as per usual. No one ever wanted to be near her for long.

She walked up to the counter and slammed the bill down. 'We both know you don't care about my job perv. No need to hide your hatred for me. No one else does.' Her eyes went dark for a moment before returning to her normal glare. 'I need twelve dozen chocolate cupcakes for my bosses brat.'

She sighed and fell into a nearby chair. Her head was starting to pound. Thanks to her little detour and the heavy rain she was starting to get sick. This was just great. Hopefully it was just a tiny cold that she'd get over quick. If not she'd have to see the Rooster and she really didn't want to go anywhere near her or that bastard God.

'Gengaku.' She gave him a heavy look. 'Can you wake me when you're done? Thanks to a little brat I got stuck in the rain and almost fired.' Without waiting for a reply she laid her head down on the table and let out a happy little moan as the cold top rested against her forehead.

"Haven't you heard? A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down!"

Callista held him under a steady gaze as he tended to her hand. If there was one thing you could say about her, it was that her knowledge in the medical field was that if someone was hurt, she'd suggest a band-aid and Neosporin - and that went for any type of injury, no matter how severe.

The throbbing in her thumb subsided a bit as he turned away, but her eyes remained on him.

Since when did Gengaku the pervert have a gentle side?

With an inquisitive brow raised, she returned to the sandwiches she had been cutting, fetched a clean knife, and got to work.

Talking out in the restaurant part caused her to raise her head, and she was just lowering her knife when Kaze popped his head through the curtain that separated the main room from the back rooms.

"Hey, Callista! How's your morning been? Good? Good. Need help? What can I do?

Yellow. His voice is yellow.

Smiling and ignoring the yellow aura that surrounded his body and face, she set her knife down and used her hand to wave him over.

"Well, I was just cutting these sandwiches for the day. Did you maybe want to do that while I go up front and start making the smoothies, milkshakes, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate? Besides, I heard the door open behind you. I would imagine someone came in after you, than, so I should probably take care of them." Handing him the knife, she grabbed his wrist and held it above the sandwiches. Cut them six inches apart from one another - that way they'll be perfect squares. One you're done, cut the squares in half, and then portion them out onto these plates, which will then be placed on these trays," she instructed, motioning to the items she spoke of.

Leaving him to it, she walked towards the main room, ducking through the curtain. She found Gengaku out front with a young woman, who currently stood at the door. From the greeting Gen gave her, she found her name to be Turi, and when she narrowed her eyes, she nodded.

"You must be the Turi that Gengaku's told me about," she said with a smile, wiping her uninjured, flour-covered hand on her apron as she approached the side of the counter. She was completely oblivious to the high tension coming off of the young woman - or so it seemed. Instead, she was just choosing to ignore it. "Good morning. My name is Callista. It's very nice to meet you, Turi," she said, bowing forward a bit, as was custom in Japan - something she had found out the hard way.

When she was once again straightened, she moved behind the counter and beamed a smile at the young woman, who had just recently plopped down in one of the chairs. When she moved, the soft sound of her clothing sent a greenish hue into the air, causing Callista to tilt her head to the side. The woman steps sent up a brownish-red color.

"You're a darker person - I can already tell. But that's alright - so am I," she laughed, bending down to open the back of the display case. "Your boss already called about the cupcakes and told me you were coming, so I have them boxed up down here," she explained, removing a large box with about a dozen chocolate cupcakes, which had swirling brown or white frosting, and a large array of sprinkles on top of them. Setting the box on the counter, she added a smaller box, the contents of which unknown.

"Alright, so the cupcakes will come to $15 even, and the smaller box is just a little something for the trouble that I know for a fact Rose puts you through. You aren't the first person she's sent here, and you certainly won't be the last. Let her know that I wish her little boy a happy birthday, okay?" she asked, punching several buttons on the register. She slipped the bill into the register and counted out the change, plucked up the boxes, and walked them around the counter to where the young woman sat. "You know, if you aren't feeling well, you really shouldn't go out in the rain again. Why doesn't Gengaku drive you back to your work? I know he's been dying to drive my car ever since he saw it," she said with a playful wink at the girl. Looking back over her shoulder, she beamed a smile that was sickeningly sweet - and extremely evil. "Isn't that right, Gen?"

Gengaku Sohma

Image

I am truly getting too old for this shit. It wasn't the first time that Gengaku was called a pervert by the rest of his family. Ever since it got out about him being dragged to a BDSM bar got out, it had all gone down hill from there. He rolled his eyes at the Monkey, knowing full will he was very friendly with Callista and eager to help. A bit to eager. He narrowed his eyes at him as he talked, knowing that all he wanted to do was get out of class. Daydreams of turning the monkey into a mindless idiot if he layed a hand on Calli ran through his mind...before snapping back to more confused thoughts.

I don't normally think that way. Hell Calli's my bandmate and as much of a friend that I can have at this age. And it still looks weird when ever I walk with her in town. Maybe...NO! SHE'S 21 AND I'M 29. THAT'S FUCKING WEIRD.' he shook his head again, just catching the request of the co-owner of this little bakery. Drive Turi back to the bar she worked at.

Now, Gengaku wasn't that bad of a guy. Of course he would give his cousin a ride in the rain. No one wants to be out there soaking wet. That and the bar wasn't but a few minute drive away. Maybe a minute drive. It was the Bar's owner that truly scared the hell out of him. Mama rose was her name he recalled, and the last time he went to that bar she was relentless about getting to know him. It was no secret that she had a...certain attraction to him. It was a scary sight. And that was something that Gengaku didn't say often or without reason.

"Sure, yeah. I'll take her." he said with out a change in face. Even with the sheer fright of the woman that was Turi's boss coming up to the window and trying to give him a kiss. "No one likes getting a cold during work for running courier, right?" He said, now looking for the keys turning around. Turning around to make faces that would prove his disapproval for going to that bar again. Horrid memories of that place were starting to well up.

Well, I was just cutting these sandwiches for the day. Did you maybe want to do that while I go up front and start making the smoothies, milkshakes, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate? Besides, I heard the door open behind you. I would imagine someone came in after you, than, so I should probably take care of them. Cut them six inches apart from one another - that way they'll be perfect squares. One you're done, cut the squares in half, and then portion them out onto these plates, which will then be placed on these trays.

That was his task. Cut the sandwiches into specific measurements, place them on the plates, plates go on the tray. Simple. Of course, he never really wanted to work in the first place, but he had no choice and this point. With the knife in hand, he was about to start cutting the sandwiches when his phone vibrated. Putting down the knife, for obvious safety reasons, he took out his phone. It was a text from Miyako. He racked his brain, trying to remember if they had ever exchanged numbers before. With a shrug, he decided that he probably must have forgotten.

What you did was wrong Kaze,
But it was rude of me to say those things to you.
I don't hate you, you're my family.

He couldn't help but let a small smile appear on his face. He felt like some of the tension in his body had been lifted. Though, all the text really said was that she was possibly sorry for what she said and that she didn't hate him. She made no comment about being angry, so there was that possibility, but Kaze was fine with people being angry at him. Take a look at Gengaku for example, he appears to always be made at him, well, annoyed is probably more accurate. Kaze quickly keyed in his own response, but then immediately erased it. "Was it okay to reply...?" He asked himself, "If she's at school would it be better to just reply later? But if she sent one then maybe she's not doing anything?" In the end, he sent a message over, praying to god that if she was in class, her phone was silent or off.

It was wrong, you had the right to say what you did.
Good to know that I didn't have to add another person to the list of people who hate me!
Were you able to get the textbook? Left it at the office.
Sorry about snatching it earlier, I'll make it up to you later.

With a nod, he closed his phone, putting it back in his pocket. Picking the knife back up, he begun to cut the sandwiches as Callista had specified, humming all the while. He was starting to have hopes that this day could be saved yet. After having done so, he placed the sandwiches onto the plates, then onto the tray. He looked back at the curtain sepperating the two areas, but decided against going through it. He was in a good mood, he felt like that would create some unnecessary drama if Turi was still out there. Instead he stayed in the kitchen area and ended up playing around with the knife, swinging it around like a sword while humming some sort of dramatic fight music.

Turi didn't know another woman worked here. She raised her head as the pink haired girl walked out and introduced herself. After she was done Turi sent a glare at Gengaku. 'You told her about me?' There was something else in the question. Did she know about the curse? Or even worse, Turi's?

She shook her head and stood. 'Whatever. Hey.' Her eyes followed Callista as she reached down to grab the cupcakes Turi had suffered for. '....Damn it Rose. You could of told me you already called them....' This was mumbled rather loudly under her breath but she stopped upon seeing the little box.

A gift....for her? How long has it been since she's gotten a gift? The last she could remember was three years ago when she left her dad. He had given her a picture frame with the two of them smiling widely inside. She picked up the small box and her gripped tightened around it. 'I....yeah.' She nodded at the woman which was probably the only thank you she would get.

To say she was suprised when the details of being driven came up was an understatement. But when Gengaku agreed she was even more shocked. 'I...' She pursed her lips and grabbed half the boxes. 'Fine. Grab the rest of the boxes.' With one last nod to Callista she was out the door.
