Physical Description
Standing at 6'3, Satoshi, due to all of the sports that he plays, is muscular, but not bulky. His blue hair is spiky and parted on the side, bangs persistently getting in the way of his sharp, narrow blue eyes. His facial features are usually shaped into a cold expression with a typical scowl and narrowed eyes that, when paired with his height, muscular physique, and hair color, earned him the school nickname "the Beast". At a glance, he appears to be intimidating and more than a little bit hard to talk to. In general, he looks older than his actual age of sixteen and is often assumed to be in his early twenties. However, when he smiles or cries, his face is transformed, making him look less the part of the heartless ice prince and more gentle and like his actual age. On most week days, you can normally either find Satoshi in his school uniform or in athletic clothes, a white shirt and dark blue shorts, for sports practice. Outside of his school life, he prefers to wear plain shirts usually paired with a jacket and either jeans or gray or black slacks.

Personality
If you ask anyone who goes to school with him and a majority of the people at the Sohma compound, you'll hear around the same things about Satoshi. He's cold, withdrawn, and intimidating, his glare sending even the friendliest person to walk on the other side of the street. Satoshi works incredibly hard at anything he does, and woe be the person who gets in his way, either by dragging him down during a project or getting in his way during a sports game. However, this is more of a mask than anything. Beneath his hardened exterior, Satoshi is an awkward, insecure and shy sixteen-year-old, desperate for recognition and to prove his worth. Even though it looks like he's glaring, it's most likely that he's just zoning out. He has a massive inferiority complex, partially stemming from his own position as the zodiac's ox. In the story, the ox was tricked out of first place by the rat and has been categorized as dull-witted ever since. Satoshi tries to be the best in everything he does whether it be sports or academics, in an attempt to prove himself, but it he fails or even just gets second place, its hard for him to keep his self confidence together. He's incredibly self-conscious about his transformation and desperately dislikes it. In his mind, he's so unlucky that he can't even turn into something cute like the rest of the family- just a large cow(ox).
On a more positive note, Satoshi is a very caring individual, particularly with children and animals. Despite his admittedly scary appearance, he likes to take care of people and things. He's also relatively patient, and it's hard for people to make him lose his temper. However, he becomes easily frustrated with himself and any perceived shortcomings. While not quick to offend on his own behalf, having developed an attempt at an immunity from all the criticism he was given as a child, if you harass or insult those closest to him, he will fight you. And, more likely than not, he will win. Really, all he wants in life is to be appreciated and to take care of those closest to him. One day, he hopes to be an elementary school teacher or a pediatrician, but it's not something he sees coming true and he doesn't like to talk to people about it.

❝Who I Am❞

Image
History
Satoshi has never actually met his parents. He was born out of wedlock, the product of a one night stand, and his mother, only sixteen at the time, didn't know what to do with him, refusing to hold him when he was born in her distress. It was actually his grandmother who first discovered the curse when, after insisting that if her daughter wouldn't take care of her child, then she would, picked him up and he turned into a calf.
There was an obvious uproar, no one in his family knowing what was going on until his great-grandmother, a Sohma herself, had to explain. This was all too much for his teenaged mother who was already dealing with having to drop out of school and the censure from her old friends who had left her once they learned she was pregrant. Satoshi's mother insisted she couldn't live with him, no matter how much her parents begged and pleaded otherwise. He was then given to the Sohma compound to be raised.
It seemed like life was playing a sick joke on him because his suffering wasn't over yet. As a child, he was often teased and picked on by members of the Sohma clan, not necessarily by the Zodiac members, but by the others living there. It all began when he was held back in first grade, still not caught up with the other students. Several clan members deemed this as unsurprising since, after all, "the ox is the dumbest member of the zodiac". From that point on, it didn't matter what he did, it was never good enough for those around him. Things became even worse when they started to compare him to the other Zodiac members, especially Keiko, the golden child- the reincarnation of the very rat who had made the ox look so very foolish. He could never live up to her or to any of the others. Always second best, never the one being fawned over.
As a child, he was very much a scrawny cry baby- adorable but quick to burst into tears. It didn't help the teasing any, and even caused it to spill over to school. Throughout the years, he developed his hardened external personality to combat the teasing and threw himself in his school work. Nothing really came easily to Satoshi, except for one thing- singing. However, he never had the self-confidence to pursue it or even to let most people hear him. Later in life, in another desperate attempt to prove himself, he threw himself into sports and there he found his niche. He excelled in sports, quickly becoming a star player on the teams he tried out for, putting the same amount of effort as he did with school work.
Through hard work and effort, and with a growth spurt that finally allowed him to be more than just a scrawny child, he began to excel in both academics and sports, but it still was never good enough. At least in academics, there was always someone better than him. He began to resent the Sohma clan, this family he didn't ask to be put into, these people he was being compared to day after day. At a certain point, he stopped associating with most of them almost entirely, except for a select few, staying out late at his practices, staying at team mates' houses until he was ordered back to the compound. But there were a few rays of hope.
In school, he earned himself the nickname "the Beast" first as an almost insult at his cold behavior and the fights he would get into with bullies, then as a title of respect as he earned his reputation as an amazing sports player who whipped their school's teams into shape through his strong leadership and determination.
Another bright spot was his grandparents. They lived around three hours away, but would always show up to his competitions and take him out on his birthday or Christmas, giving him something to look forward to and someone to love. Then, there was Masaru. They didn't meet until Satoshi was seven and Masaru fourteen. Masaru recognized a kindred spirit of sorts- someone who needed to be taken care of, who needed to be told they were wonderful, and decided that he was just the man for the job. Satoshi wasn't quite sure what to do with him at first, but slowly grew attached to the older boy, tagging along after him like a shadow, not that Masaru minded. He's basically a surrogate big brother now, perhaps even closer, attending all of his tournaments to cheer him on enthusiastically and occasionally joining Satoshi on trips with his grandparents.
Currently, he is still attending school, with most of his classmates being fifteen-years-old rather than sixteen due to him being held back in the first grade. He's relatively popular but he has teammates and the occasional fan, not friends. [/size]

Thoughts on Other Characters
Masaru/Snake: Masaru and Satoshi are incredibly close. Masaru was the first person to ever put Satoshi as their number one priority, never comparing him to someone else, and supporting him instead of degrading him. For that, Satoshi is devoted to the older man and would do anything he could for him.

Hisako/Monkey: Like in the case of Ichirou, while they're not actually friends, Satoshi tolerates Hisako more than most of the other Sohmas. She shows up at some of his games, always tailing along with Masaru, and seems...nice. He supposes. Like many of the Sohmas around his own age, he kind of resents her given that he's often compared to her. Not only that, but he's slightly jealous of her seemingly effortless ability to gain friends and closeness to Masaru and her cheerfulness can be quite irritating.

Mei/Horse: He doesn't get along with Mei. Her wild streak and tendency to try to "break him out of his shell" irritates him on a good day and completely shuts him down on a bad one.

Keiko/Rat: After years of being compared to Keiko for his entire life hearing, 'Why aren't you as smart as Keiko' 'What can't you be as well-mannered as Keiko', it's safe to say that Satoshi is not her biggest fan. Almost the very mention of her name sends a shot of anxiety through him because he'll never be as good as Keiko. So, yes, he practically hates her.

Kutaki/Goat: He's not very close with Kutaki and doesn't ever intend to be at this point. Satoshi resents her and feels as if she's less lenient towards him than anything he's done has really warranted, making him feel like every slip up in anger is his fault. It's like he's not even allowed to be upset before she's trying to make him stop, even though she's so forgiving of other family members, even Raiden.

Koji/Dragon: He doesn't really know or like Koji, and he is weary of him simply because Koji always appears nervous around him.

Choko/Rooster: Choko's a hard worker, right? That's the extent he cares to know about her. He doesn't like her, but he doesn't hate her either.

Chayme: As of right now, he's Chayme's reluctant tutor for gym class. Basically, his job is to get Chayme to pass gym class by giving him private lessons. They're not exactly close- well, not close at all, and it's rather awkward.

Raiden/God: He doesn't dislike the Sohma head; he hates him. It's not enough that he has to put up with Raiden on a day to day basis, but Satoshi is probably the Sohma that gets close to breaking or breaks the rules more often than not, ignoring direct orders and, in turn, is often dealt an overly severe punishment. Which, of course, makes him even less likely to listen to orders.

Suki: Unknown

Eri/Rabbit: There is no doubt that Eri is a sweet girl who goes out of her way for Satoshi, but sometimes he feels like there is such a thing as too cheerful, her perpetual optimism almost grating at times. Sometimes it can get a little too much and, given how much she likes everyone and how much everyone likes her, he doesn't like to talk to her about his problems. She can just be... a little too much for him at times. Still, usually, the only time he gets upset with her is when she starts trying to protect him, mostly because it often gets her hurt and he has to act out even more to get the bad attention back on him. Sometimes, it's hard not to resent that.

Ichirou/Boar: Ichirou, in Satoshi's mind, is Masaru's friend. He'll deal with him, and he's... all right. Sometimes. When he's not glorifying Keiko. Ugh.

Seiki/Dog: He's not that close to Seiki, unlike most members of the Zodiac, and resents his never-ending loyalty to the Sohma family. They keep their distance from each other and Satoshi is just fine with that.

Eri Sohma

Eri stared at the clock blankly, willing it to move faster. There was no trace of her signature bright smile, that could light up a room. She had been off all day, and could feel it getting worse. It was rare that she felt like this, and didn't want anyone to see her this way. She didn't want to bring anyone down with her. Unlike Keiko, she had no intention of visiting the head of the family. Right now, she planned on isolating herself as much as possible.
As soon as the bell rang, she quickly stood up and hurried out of the classroom. Usually, she would linger and happily socialize with her peers.

She hurried out of the school, her ocean blue eyes glued to the floor and her stomach churned. Not paying attention, she bumped into Satoshi in her rush to leave the high school. She was almost knocked right onto her bum when her small body hit the solid wall of a male. "Sorry, Satoshi." She told him quickly, glancing up at him for a moment and hoping he didn't catch the growing distress and terror growing in her eyes as she practically ran into the woods that were the opposite way to the house.
Not even paying attention, she hurriedly walked until she couldn't hear people anymore. Throwing her bag against a tree, she slid to the ground and tucked her knees against her chest.

Her second curse, she called it. The curse she earned for not being good enough for her mother. She would have flashes of the woman's face, and relive the trauma of her trying to kill the little bunny over and over again.
Eri's hands wrapped around herself, digging into her skin, grabbing at her hair as her breathing sped up. She could see her mother's face- the hate in her eyes. Her hand slid under her shirt, to the scars on her stomach as a soft, painful noise escaped her. Her eyes shut tightly, as she trembled. Her nails dug into her skin, as she buried her face in her hands and heard her mother's hateful cries in her mind over, and over again.

"...So, you see, if you follow this formula, the result is eight because..." As the last class on Friday afternoons, the last thing that a student wants to deal with is math class, especially a math class where the teacher insists on teaching right up to the bell. Students were already fidgeting, no longer taking down notes, slowly zipping up their bags, eyes trained on the slowly ticking clock right above the door. The last person one would expect to still be diligently writing down the lecture, pencil making neat work of the formula in their notebook would be one of the school's sports players. It was a bit of a stereotype, yes, but true often enough to be a fact. Unless, of course, the athlete happened to be Satoshi Sohma whose concentration was fully on the teacher as he scribbled more numbers on the board.

The bell finally rang, a wave of relief hitting the class as they all rushed from their seats, making a great ruckus as they rushed out the door, all but ignoring their teacher's exclamation about a quiz Monday. In contrast, Satoshi was almost reluctant to put his school work away, taking his sweet time packing everything neatly in his bag. It wasn't that he adored school or anything, but it was much better than the alternative. With no games this weekend, no practice, no school work, he had no excuse to stay away from the Sohma compound. The very thought was almost painful, casting a dark cloud over his weekend. Satoshi slung his bag over his shoulder, making his way out of the classroom.

As he began to walk through the sea of students, a familiar, tiny blond bumped into him, almost tumbling over at the impact. Eri Sohma squeaked an apology, a look of pain painted on her normally sweet, cheerful face(that was not an opinion, it was a statement of fact. No one could deny that the Sohma girl was sweet) before running off to parts unknown.

"Ah..." He paused, watching her disappear into the crowd of students. Well, all right then.

"Hey, Satoshi!" He stopped in the middle of the hall, turning his head to face the person speaking to him. Far from being jostled as he stood by students trying to leave, they parted around him. Whether it be out of fear due to his old reputation or respect for his new one, he couldn't be sure and didn't bother to wonder about. It's not like he cared about any of these people

It was the gym teacher, Endo-Sensei, waving eagerly at him as he jogged over, a broad grin on his face. Endo wasn't the atypical gym teacher; he was overly enthusiastic about his job, eager to help students(especially those who didn't want any), and had a perpetual almost obnoxious can-do attitude.

"Have you set up a tutoring session with Chayme yet?" Ah, yes, Chayme Reed, the newest cause of Satoshi's irritation. He wasn't quite sure how someone could be failing gym class, but Chayme had managed it. Which was why Edo-Sensei had suggested extra-credit in the form of tutoring sessions(gym tutoring sessions. It was almost enough to make Satoshi laugh. Almost) with the school's resident athlete extraordinaire; Satoshi "the Beast" Sohma. Who, of course, had agreed because he was getting some extra credit out of it as well. It wasn't that he needed it, but the temptation of doing even better, giving his grades even a little bit of a boost, was too much for the perfectionist to ignore.

"Not yet, Endo-Sensei," He admitted, voice deep and stoic as always, face pulled into its typical emotionless mask. Oh, they'd talked before, if you could really call it talking. It had been extremely awkward, neither wanting to really talk to the other except a quick acknowledgement that they had to work together some time in the future. "I can go do that now." It was apparently what the teacher had been hoping for, given the wide grin covering his face.

"Excellent! Have a great weekend, Satoshi!" With that, Satoshi was left alone in the halls. Well, at least he didn't have to go straight home...

Finding out where Chayme was was a bit of a hassle. Apparently he'd already left, nursing an injury from gym class. Satoshi mentally snorted. He had his work cut out for him between Chayme's reluctance to do anything that required effort and his apparently inability to do anything exercise related. However, he did find him eventually, walking away from the park near the school.

"Hey, Reed," He called out, voice blunt and almost harsh as he caught up. "We need to talk." Ugh, talking to people. This was someone more socially inclined than Satoshi.
