Childhood/Family Life: Annabelle was born in East Ridge, Tennessee to Richard and Jessica Everett. She was a quiet, unassuming child, happy enough in her own company where her imagination ran wild. Quite often, she was off tracking unicorns or going on daring quests in Camp Jordan. Even from a young age, it was clear that Annabelle's passion lay with art, something her parents, particularly Jessica, were only too keen to encourage. The kitchen and lounge were covered in her artwork, from the first unskilled scribbles of a child, to the confident, intricate designs as her skill grew. Throughout school, Annabelle tended to keep to herself. She had a few close friends, but she wasn't the school's sweetheart by any means. She was often found in the library reading whenever she had the chance, school or city, and keeping out of the dramas that her friends seemed to be obsessed with.

High school was interesting for Annabelle. First year was quiet, the same as elementary and middle school. She read, she did her work, she got good grades. Roughly half way through her second year, she began peer tutoring. It was at this point she caught the eye of one of school sports stars, James Mercer. He was definitely attractive, she wasn't blind. Who was she kidding? He was gorgeous, the kind of guy that was in movies, not a small town high school. Initially cautious at first, Annabelle befriended James, not sure what to make of the attention. The two began dating towards the end of the year, keeping it quiet at Annabelle's insistence. She had to laugh at the situation. Most girls fantasised about being in her position, and she had barely given it a thought and here she was. She was completely swept off her feet by him. So much so that she began to lose sight of who she was.

For a while, their romance was pretty spectacular. He was charming, funny, considerate. Her parents liked him. He was almost too good to be true. And there was the problem. Pretty soon the wheels began to fall off. He began making little digs at her. Not big enough to scare her away, but enough to begin chipping away at her. Soon the digs became bigger, James became controlling, not letting Annabelle out of his sight while he could help it. It was his way or no way. When he got angry, it was her fault. When they lost a game, it was her fault for being a distraction. Fortunately for Annabelle, Jessica overheard one of their arguments after she came home early from work one evening. She listened to James screaming at Annabelle for a minute before she ordered him out of her house, leaving him with the warning that if he so much as came near Annabelle again, she would ruin him. Jessica spent the night with Annabelle, comforting her only daughter and leaving her with some solid life advice that she could have done with a few months earlier, all things considered. When Richard came home, he threatened to shoot James's balls off. Annabelle promised herself that she would never allow anyone else to make her feel bad for being her. From the vantage point of hindsight, she realised that it had been abusive. Everything they had had been built on fear. She'd been so afraid of upsetting him that she let him do anything he wanted without complaint.

As a distraction, Annabelle threw herself into her art. It was the escape she needed from school. No one wanted to believe that James Mercer was the bad guy in all this, so it had to be Annabelle's fault that things went wrong. Annabelle knew she had to get out of East Ridge, out of Tennessee if possible. She sent of an application to the Fine Arts programmes that caught her eye. She eventually settled on Fulton, more for the pull of living in Miami. Knowing that she wanted to pursue Art, her choosing her major and minor wasn't all that difficult. Neither was choosing Theta Chi as her sorority. They were way more laid back than the other sororities. She feels at home here, which is something Annabelle never expected to be.

Quirks//Habits//Oddities:
Nearly always has a paint smudge somewhere on her person
She drinks a lot of coffee, unless she's working on something and then it's mint tea
She listens to EDM when she's painting.
Taps her fingers against her thumb when she's thinking
She is constantly buying paints

Good personality traits:
Compassionate|| Curious|| Patient|| Loyal|| Laidback

Bad personality traits:
Stubborn|| Fickle|| Indecisive|| Cynical

Personality:
The majority of people who know Annabelle would describe her as being laid back. For the most part, this is true. Annabelle is very laid back and has a very long temper with the people around her. Rather than getting angry at setbacks, she takes them in her stride and changes the plan accordingly. With her patience, Annabelle stays calm in a crisis, and is pretty good at keeping a cool head when the situation starts to heat up. She is intensely loyal to her friends and often goes above and beyond to make them happy. She has a very dry sense of humour and can be very sarcastic with her friends. Annabelle is a very principled person and she holds true to his beliefs. She doesn't like to be proven wrong about things, but she will, eventually, own up and be the bigger person, adapting her world view to fit with the new information.

She is very careful with people's feelings, and tries to find the best way not to hurt anyone's feelings, even if that means her own get hurt. She hates to be the one to dish out the harsh home truths to people and usually just lets people get on with their own lives. She knows first hand what it's like to get torn down. Annabelle is the kind of girl who will always have your back in a fight unless. She refuses to take sides among friends however. She tends to avoid arguments, but when she's in the wrong, she will apologise as soon as she can, sometimes, straight after the words have left her mouth. If she believes that the other person is in the wrong, she will hold a grudge until they've apologised and then, as far as she is concerned, that's the end of it. She can be the kind of person to give someone way too many second chances, but she does try to see the best in everyone, even if no one else can see it.

Annabelle is a naturally curious person, who has to know the ins and outs of everything. When she finds something that really takes his interest, she can be almost childishly enthusiastic about it, often becoming an avid collector of anything related to the subject and speaking about it at a mile a minute. She likes being around people and comes into her own when she's within a group, so long as she knows a few of them quite well. Large crowds of strangers aren't her favourite thing, unless she knows she has something in common with them. She often has several personal projects on the go, and can seem to be quite scatter-brained with all these things to do, bouncing from one to the other. Annabelle can be very indecisive at times, and hates being limited to just one option. She'd rather have a whole myriad of options open to her and explore each one, often going back on what she's decided for another option, making her seem a little fickle at times.

Greatest joys in life:
Chinese Food, Snow, Paints, New sketch pads

Greatest fears:
Ending up in another relationship with someone like James, Not making it as an artist.

Life philosophy:
Lose yourself in art. Find yourself in art.

Thoughts on Greek Life: Honestly, Annabelle never planned on being a sorority girl. She'd seen enough movies that she thought she knew what sorority girls were like. She checked them out during rush week though, just out of curiosity and found herself completely charmed by the Theta girls. They were her kind of cool and she was far more interested in painting them than she was the other houses. Art is never about perfection, real or pretend.

Plans for after college: Annabelle chose her major because she loves art. She's good at it and it makes her happy. After graduation, she wants to pursue art, preferably as a comic artist or working in restoration, hence her minor.

Build: Annabelle stands at 5'5 with a slight build and weighs 126lbs

Hair Colour: Red/ginger

Eye Colour: Hazel

Distinguishing Marks: Annabelle has a stylised penguin on her left wrist. She has two birds on her hip, and a flower pattern curling over her shoulder and collar.

Style: Annabelle is a pretty classy dresser. She always looks sharp and the only time she is seen in sweatpants is when she's ill, so keep your distance. She likes classic tailoring and fits. She's not exactly an avant garde dresser like a lot of the kids in her art classes, although there is an element of eccentricity to her wardrobe.

So begins...

The campus was alive with excitement, anxiety, nerves, and anticipation. A new school year has begun and for some, they are moving onto campus for the first time. They've looked at DIYs on Pinterest to decorate their new dorm rooms, managed to find the contact information for their prospective roommate so that they could figure out which one of them was going to bring the television or the small fridge, and prepared themselves for the over-dramatic goodbyes they're bound to receive from overprotective mothers and fathers. For some, they are arriving at Fulton or even Florida in an entirely new environment with a set of people they probably never encountered in their hometowns. Others are simply moving on campus from down the street. For a select few, they not only have done this before - this move in process - but they aren't as enthused. Not unless, of course, you are a part of the Greek life system. For these groups, some are older members awaiting the arrival of the new members they inducted just before the summer, little brothers and sisters they can't wait to fully ensnare into their individual fraternity culture. The others are these new members, eager to move away from the communal dorms and into their respective houses for the first times, eager for all the fun and belonging this new year is bound to bring them. This year means exclusive invitations to parties that other students wouldn't get. Hopefully, they're just as prepared for the drama this year is bound to bring as well.

Some upperclassmen were allowed to move on to campus earlier for various reasons. For instance, Katiana returned to campus on Monday because the dance team began conditioning before the school year even started; because her sister and father were helping her in (her mom couldn't take off), she ended up staying at the hotel with them and getting rides to campus during the day. Plus, Professor Lang - Tricia, now that Kat was allowed to call her that - had wanted her there earlier so that they could shape Katiana's schedule around Tricia's. There was no point in her having classes that would put her on one side of the campus when she would have to be in Tricia's class, helping, five minutes afterwards. The last four days had been grueling. The Fulton University dance team earned their stripes by strenuous hours of exercise and maintaining their flexibility, and while Kat was experienced in all of that, she was still human and was sore afterwards. Even now. It probably didn't help that she hadn't exactly spent as much of her summer as she normally did dancing.

"Why are they working y'all so hard? Ain't y'all already on the team?" Aja inquired, thumbs digging into the still slightly tense muscles in Kat's right calf, taking up a soothing rotation as she tried to massage the ache away. It wasn't nearly as bad as yesterday when Kat returned to hotel, but she knew it was going to bother her for the rest of the day. Luckily, Kat wasn't a novice to this. It was her own fault for not being as vigilant this summer. "Not really," she replied after a wince. Aja had struck a particular tense spot and after a few harder rubs, Kat relaxed onto the sofa they managed to make into the space under her bed. Even though Fulton happened to renovate the Greek homes, it didn't stop them from being cheap to an extent and putting beds that would've belonged to bunk beds in the shared bedrooms. It just so happened that Aja already had a plan for her because of that knowledge.

"Everybody but the captain and co-captain gotta audition to get their spot back on the team. Those of us who were, get to do the conditioning and learn the routine ahead of the newbies so that by the time auditions actually go down, we get judged - not just by how well we do the moves, but how much we add a lil somethin'-somethin' to it." Aja sucked her teeth, wincing in sympathy as she eventually stopped her ministrations so that Kat could fully lay back, legs on her big sister's lap. "Sucks, kiddo," she remarked. Kat was busy texting Jake, Kory, and Annabelle before she responded. "Tis life, babe," she replied, taking in her side of the room, hand in her hair. She'd been hit all over again with the giddiness that came with having Annabelle as her roommate and she couldn't wait to see the redhead. Their names had been on the bedroom door in the Theta colors. But she also couldn't wait to see Jake and Kory, even though she had seen both several times over the summer.

To: Jake, Kory
Dad & AJ wanna kno if u both need help?

To: Annie <3
Just moved in. Where r u roomie?

"Let's go. Dad's probably taking up your new sisters on crushing those pasties and coffee," Aja commented and Katiana slid her feet off the older woman; the petite dance rose to her feet and stretched, ignoring the near silent pop in the base of her spine. She needed to do another stretch before the day was over, a longer one at that. "Shit, I might take 'em up on that," she said with a grin, scooping up her phone and keys as she followed her sister out. The older Thetas made decaffeinated and caffeinated coffee that they had freshly ground in the morning with an assortment of scones, danishes, and pastries, with a few savory treats Kat's fast metabolism was ready to take on. Hopefully, they also had tea. Kat didn't feel like coming back upstairs to get her stash of loose-leaf just yet.

Annabelle twitched her foot in the well. Her dad was singing Africa by Toto for the tenth time. The already eleven hour drive was taking even longer. It took her a moment to realised that not everywhere was as small as East Ridge. The 20,000 strong population had always seemed huge when she was a kid, but now she spent her year in Miami and suddenly East Ridge felt even smaller. She looked out the passenger side window at the cars crawling by. There was more than one university in Florida, but Annabelle still couldn't help but wonder how many of them contained students bound for Fulton. She might be biased, but it was the best in Florida.

"Dad?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you think everyone had the same idea as us?"

"Looks that way."

Her phone buzzed in her pocket and she wriggled it out from beneath her seatbelt.

From: KitKat
Just moved in. Where r u roomie?

To:KitKat
On my way. We hit traffic :( Save me some food if you can

"Who you texting sweetheart?"

Annabelle looked up from her phone to her dad. Richard Everett was a good dad, she realised. A really good one. And he got bonus points for still being around. There were a tonne of kids back in East Ridge who didn't have one parent or the other. She was lucky she still had hers, even if she had to endure the girls at high school declaring him a DILF. "Just Kat. She's my roommate. You'd like her."

The traffic had finally started moving again as they rolled along the Florida roads. "Kat, huh?" Annabelle braced herself. She knew that tone. "Sure it's not a boy?" he teased.

"I have plenty of guy friends, dad, just no boyfriend. Or girlfriend. You know I'd tell you and mom if there was."

Richard reached over and squeezed her hand. "I know sweetheart, we just want you to be happy."

Annabelle smiled and squeezed his hand back. "I know. Besides, I won't get hurt. There's too many people wanting to protect me. Apparently I'm adorable and innocent and that makes people wanna look after me. You don't need to worry about anyone getting close enough to hurt me. Nick sieves out the creeps anyway."

"Nick's the gay kid, right?"

"Yes dad. Nick is the gay kid." Annabelle had to stifle a laugh. Nick wasn't the only gay student she knew, but it had been the first thing she blurted out when her dad had asked if they were an item. The revelation that Nick was only into guys had seemed to put her dad's concerns to rest.

They finally rolled onto campus, albeit a lot later than they anticipated when they had set off. Annabelle staggered out of the car, just grateful for the opportunity to finally stretch her legs out. She popped the trunk open and dragged a suitcase out. Annabelle practically skipped up the path and left her case in the hallway. The living area was filled with the aroma of coffee and fresh baking. Annabelle inhaled deeply. This felt like home. She spotted Kat across the room and ran up to her. "Kat!" Her squeal was the only warning the girl got before Annabelle threw her arms around Katiana.

Harry pinned the final poster on his wall and stood back. He looked around the room. After years of sharing, it felt weird to have a room to himself at university. Nice, but weird. He ran a hand through his hair, dishevelling it even more. This was his final year. He was president and all this would be over very soon. A few of the older Kappas were already here and Harry figured he should probably go down and get things ready for the newer members arriving.

"Get down off the counter James," he said as he came into the kitchen. He tapped his phone screen. "Save that behaviour for when you're drunk." Despite what the other presidents might think, he wasn't a complete killjoy, but people did have to eat off there in the next few hours. Harry curled his toes under his feet as he fired off a few texts.

To: Nick
Do you think anyone knew that James liked to dance on counters before he joined? Also, where are you? I need my right hand man.

To: Arden
You doing ok?

Harry flicked on the coffee machine, smiling as the machine gurgled into life. They needed a new one. A better one, like an industry standard one. His boys deserved it. "Guys, how would you feel about a new coffee machine?"

"Can we get an X-box?"

Harry sat on the edge of the counter, his bare feet swinging. "You coulda brought your own kidda."

"Then yes, we would like a coffee machine."

To: Nick
Also I have made an executive decision as president. We're getting a fancy ass coffee machine. It shall be our legacy

Katrina brushed her hair over her shoulder and took a sip of her coffee. There was buzz about the campus as she strutted across the courtyard, and it wasn't just from the caffeine. Freshman were moving into halls. She tilted her head as she observed them. Was I really that skittish? She probably was. She would have to ask Jasmine. Katrina spotted Jax across the way and had to suppress a laugh. She didn't giggle over boys, but poor Jax looked like he was about to kill one of the freshman.

Katrina soon lost interest in Jax's suffering and headed across campus to the Alpha house. She had scouted a few girls who looked like they might be Alpha material with a little time, but it was far too soon to be worrying the newbies about rush week, That would all come in time. A few of the girls were already around the house when she arrived. She waved to them and said a few polite hi's before she went into the house. Her heels clicked against the floor as she bounced up the stairs. It was a skill that had taken years of practice, moving quickly in heels without spilling her coffee. She had nearly perfected it.

Katrina smiled as she saw her door sign again. She was sharing with Jasmine, which she was fine with. She would have been happy with Abigail as well, but she was closer to Jasmine, the elder girl having been assigned her big sister when Katrina rushed. She threw her bag on her bed and kicked her heels off. She sat down elegantly and tapped the screen of her phone.

To: Maddox
Hey handsome, how was summer?

To:Jax
Please tell me you didn't kill any of the freshman. It would look terrible on your record.

To: Jasmine
Please tell me you're arriving soon. No one exciting is here yet :(

"Oh no," Aja cried, prompting Kat to look up from her text to Jake away from their small group message with Kory, thumb hesitating over a random key, face almost startled. Aja was smirking while their Dad was busy speaking to one of the Theta seniors. By the time the sisters had arrived downstairs, her Dad had apparently spoken to at least three of the older Theta members about the past wee; how Aja had dragged him to three different stores (this was true) because neither she nor Katiana could agree upon a color scheme (also true, even though Kat will be the first to say that she conceded in favor of not having to go to any other store for goddamn lights), the drive back-and-forth from the hotel to campus because they wouldn't let students move back on to campus just yet but they could still get things done on campus during the day (untrue because Kat would've had an excuse to move back on to campus earlier; her dad was just unwilling to let her go too soon), etc. "That's your probably-talking-to-Jake face." Kat could feel the blush rising and only in hindsight appreciated having a darker complexion; it helped hide crap like that from leery assholes like Aja. "I don't have a Jake face," she insisted, grabbing two paper plates. Aja snorted "yeah, uh huh" a little bit too disbelievingly, so Kat hip-checked her while also busting in front of her sister in the line to make plates for herself and Kat, making sure to give herself two chocolate-filled croissants and whatever egg-ham-and-cheese pastry that was that smelled so good because her stomach was all types of aching for it. And being just a touch loud about its excitement over food now that she wasn't unpacking and had time to eat.

It was probably a good thing that Kat was trying to decide if she was going to pause, put a napkin over Annabelle's food, adn then race said food upstairs so that the girl's plate could be effectively saved. Her lapse in judgement was great because while she had one plate clutched very tightly in each hand, napkins secured against them by each fork, a pair of arms immediately wrapped themselves around her waist only a few seconds after she heard a very familiar squeal. Recovering from the immediate shock only a second later, Kat was grinning and turned around to face the redhead, setting the plates down on the buffet table her sister was still standing beside so that she could fully embrace her friend. Annie Bee she squealed in response, clutching her tightly for a moment longer before pulling back, arms still around her. "I missed you, baby." Kat let one arm drop from her friend to gesture to her sister, who wiggled her fingers in response with a smile around a sweet almond danish, "I told you about my sister, Aja, and that's," she directed the redhead's gaze to her father, who chose at that moment to look up from his third cup of coffee and wave distractedly, "my Dad talking a whole in Mara's head."

Okay, so Deanna might have had a little bit too much coffee.

"Said, 'Lil bitch, you can't fuck with me if you wanted to.' These expensive, these is red bottoms, these is bloody shoes," Deanna sang, more like yelled, rather aggressively, hands gestures and all as she went along with Cardi B's hit song, the white end of a lollipop the only thing muffling the worst of the lyrics. Luckily, her own roommate, a junior named Faith, hadn't arrived yet so there was no worry about having to explain why her roommate was literally in the middle of their room, one half noticeably unpacked, turning up on a Friday when most people were trying to turn down and unpack. Then again, Dee wouldn't have been the one to care enough to explain herself in the first place. If she was too much for you in a house meant for Zetas only, then you didn't belong there, parent or not.

The point in all of this, however, was to say that she probably would've already been dead to the world had she not ingested a lot of coffee. She and Starbucks had been best friends for the last twenty-four hours and eventually, it was going to show. But for now, Dee felt like she had endless energy. She had spent the entire summer in Los Angeles for her internship, so she had actually been coming back to school from that very location. Which meant it was a flight from Los Angeles to Miami via Houston. Eleven hours and forty two minutes. With only a one hour nap. Never mind the fact that Deanna had been on and off the phone making sure the belongings she had put into storage arrived after she did, making sure that the last few scholarships she needed hit her student accounts and that no paperwork was lost in translation, and settling the issue of whether or not she had a meal plan on campus (she did not. Dee figured that there was no point in trusting an albeit satisfactory cafeteria when she lived in a house and could therefore cook her own meals, opting whether or not she would pick up something on campus). The point was that yes, Deanna was probably the last person you would say was the most mature person in the world, but you could never say that she didn't know how to adult. She had even unpacked and gotten her side of the room to look exactly how she wanted.

Still didn't mean that she hadn't had too much coffee.

Because she did.

"Honestly, don't give a fuck 'bout who ain't fond of me. Dropped two mixtapes in six months, what bitch working as hard as me? I don't bother with these hoes, don't let these hoes bother me. They see pictures, they say, "Goals," bitch, I'm who they tryna be," she continued, music blasting even amidst the little ringtone she had set up for text messages. Glancing back at it, Dee settled for mumbling the words, taking a deep suck of strawberry flavored candy in her mouth while her left hand held onto the pristine white stick; her right hand scooped her device up. Pointedly ignoring the unimportant messages from her Dad, Dee's sticky, dark blue lips widened into a grin as she saw who had messaged her. Turning her music down only because she needed to concentrate on words, Dee hurried to text people back, opting afterwards to head downstairs to the kitchen to see if Alea still was putting food away so that she could see if there were plantains to steal and fry for later.

"I missed you too."Annabelle let the scent of cocoa butter fill her nose as she hugged Katiana before she pulled away. No amount of texting and Skype calls could make up for actually being next to her friend again. She turned to see Aja stood by them. She remembered Katiana talking about her family a lot in freshman year, her sister especially. It was good to finally put a face to a name. Before she could say 'hi' to Aja, Kat was pointing her attention over to her dad. Annabelle turned her head, her lips curling into a polite smile as she waved to Mr. Brokenborough.

Annabelle turned back to Aja. She could see the similarity between her and Katiana, more in the way they stood and the drive in their eyes. The way the light reflected off Aja's cheekbones had Annabelle itching to get hold of her pencils and start sketching again. Annabelle held out her hand to Aja. "Nice to meet you. Kat told me a lot about you. Feels like I already know you." Annabelle stopped talking, she could herself beginning to babble. She always babbled around pretty people. Lord knew there were plenty of people who could attest to that. Sometimes it felt like the entire student population of Fulton had been pulled out of a modelling agency's books.

There was a scuffle at the door. Annabelle turned to see her dad carrying the entire contents of the car through the door. "And that's my dad. I'll be back in a second. Nice meeting you," she added to Aja as she jogged over to her dad and took some of the bags from him.

Harry checked the messagge on his phone, chuckling to himself at Nick's response. James was definitely an oddball, but then could anyone in Kappa really say they were normal? College did crazy things to people. "Dude. Some of us prepare our meals there." Harry looked up from his phone, his face a picture of innocence. He was trying so hard not to crack a smile at Cornelius.

"These are clean on today."

"Anyways, how have you been, man? Anything new with you?"

Harry let out a small laugh. "Well, one of the kids at the health center has a crush on me. I think her mom does too." Harry shrugged and took a sip of his coffee. "She's only human. Anyway, how you been since I last saw you?"

"I'm home bitches!"

Harry looked up and made a happy noise as he realised who's voice that was. "And here I thought he would never come back," he muttered. Arden was distant at the best of times, more so than Harry could be. That was probably why Brendon, their previous president, had chosen Harry to keep an eye on the sophomore. Before he could say anything else, Nick's arms were around him. Harry returned the hug with equal enthusiasm. "Hey."

Nick pulled away and began rummaging in the drawer next to him. Harry watched with idle curiousity. "So I was thinking we either cook tonight for the guys or order out. We still got the menus from last year? Or do we need to just go ahead and hit up Krogers?"

"Next draw down, big guy. And it's the first night back, we can cook another day. I have presidenty things to plan, like getting a new coffee machine." He clapped Nick's shoulder. He had missed Nick. Living in a different state to his best friend absolutely sucked. He slid down from the counter and drained the last of his coffee before jumping onto Nick's back. "Arden! Your room's opposite mine. James, yours is down the hallway, everyone else, I can't be expected to remember everything." Harry squeezed Nick's shoulder. "Don't ever leave me again." He was being silly, he knew that, but he had genuinely missed Nick, more so than he had missed Maddox.

Katrina crossed her legs, tucking her foot behind her calf. She smiled as Abigail came into the room. "Hey." Her phone buzzed beside her on the bed.

"Seems like we're the first ones here. I wonder where everyone else is, honestly."

"It's the first day Dessie." Katrina wriggled along the matress and patted the spot next to her for Abigail to sit down. "I wouldn't worry too much. The interesting people are already here." Katrina held up her phone and opened the camera. "Smile!" Kat snapped a picture of the two of them. She checked the picture. "How have I never taken a bad picture of you? You're, like, flawless. I'm posting this."

Katrina tapped her thumbs against the screen. The picture of the two of them was uploaded to Kat's Instagram.

Being the President meant having certain privileges versus the underclassmen. For starters, having a room all to yourself and being able to move in before everyone else. She decorated to the best of her ability and hoped the other girls liked it too. Normally, rooming by herself was a big no-no, but it felt right now. Scarlett would still keep her door open though. An open door policy is essential for being a good President.

Scarlett was currently doing some yoga in her room. She was finishing placing the last of her textbooks on her shelf when the need to practice caught her. Yoga has always been relaxing and she needed to be at peace currently. It was her last year. She'll be out of college and into medical school. Her dreams were getting closer and closer to her, but she felt sad. Theta Chi has meant so much to her and she can't imagine leaving any of these lovely girls behind. Her mother and father would be happy to see her graduate with a perfect GPA and honors. Her stepfather would be happy as well and her step siblings would be happy, but not quite understand what was happening. It was going to be a bittersweet event, but one to remember.

Scarlett heard chatter downstairs and hurried down. She was so caught up in yoga she lost track of time! The new Thetas would be moving in and she wasn't there to greet them. So far being President was going swimmingly. The first two people she recognized was Katiana and Annabelle. Annabelle held a special place in her heart since she was her little, but Katiana was just as precious. "Girls!" She ran over and gave them each a quick hug, Annabelle's with a squeeze. "How was your summer? Can I help you with anything?" She caught that Annabelle was going to go help her father and followed her. She quickly took the bag from Annabelle's hand with a smile that said 'let me do this.' With a big, friendly smile, she stuck out her hand to Mr. Everett, "Hello, Mr. Everett. I'm Annabelle's big sister, Scarlett. It's nice to finally meet you!"

The lukewarm water running down Brook's body felt amazing. His family and him had just spent the last two hours moving in and it was finally over. The manly labor and bossiness from Daisy did not make it easy. Brooks had done surfing earlier that morning and it was an amazing way to start out the year. The waves were perfect, the beach wasn't too crowded, and the sun was shining without being overwhelmingly hot. It felt almost as amazing as this shower does.

After finishing drying off, Brooks returned to his room to change when his phone rang. Caller I.D. said Uncle Tyler. Although the man has been a father figure, Brooks never wanted to call him Dad or Father. It felt wrong to fall him that. Brooks shrugged off the thought and answered the phone.

"Are you having a party already?" A young voice asked on the phone. Brook smiled, knowing it was his sister Daisy.

"You bet I am. It's gonna be amazing and you're not invited."

"You big meanie!"

Playful banter between the two of them was common. A few years ago, Brooks would've thought he'd never have this. Daisy was still in foster care and Brooks was stuck landlocked, away from her. As much as he loved his uncle and his partner, Daisy is Brooks's world. He'd do anything for her and being so far apart kills him. Sure, they have FaceTime and phone calls, but that's not the same as having them physically in front of you. Their conversation continued for a while until Uncle Tyler said they were about to enter a dead zone. The two siblings said good bye before hanging up. Feeling bored, Brooks took out his phone to text a few people.

It never failed that somehow or another Annabelle smelled like the combination of rich ground coffee beans and mint, an odd combination considering the underlying earthiness that came from the minty scent of her usual tea, but the redhead artist drank so much of both that they seemed to seep from her pores. It was the thing that greeted Kat the second they had embraced, and she was beaming when she pulled away, Annabelle acknowledging Aja. Her smile, crazy as enough, only widened at Scarlett's arrival. Kat eagerly returned the embrace, wiggling her fingers in parting as Scarlett went to help her Little up to the room. Scarlett wasn't Katiana's big, which was probably for the better only because Kat wouldn't have known what to do if her big sister happened to be the president of the organization. That just sounded like a lot of pressure and expectations she wasn't even sure she would be able to live up to, and Kat had too much on her plate for all of that.

"Yo, kiddo," Aja called, at some point having moved to their Dad when gestured over. Kat gathered the two plates she had made and walked over, noting her father's put out expression. "The giant five year old here and I better start heading out if we don't wanna get back home too late. Are you going to be good?" Kat smirked at the question. "Pretty sure I told y'all both to get going earlier, but y'all wanted to stay," she replied and Aja punched her arm before embracing her with a tight squeeze that Kat's still somewhat sore muscles protested. She winced in response, but let herself be hugged, still smirking when her sister pulled away. "Don't overdo it this year," Aja said, giving her another firm, telling squeeze that made Kat wince in more than just pain. "I'll try." Was her quieter response. Aja had been the only one in her family Kat had told of last year's events and it still felt like the main reason why her big sister had wanted to take off of work and be a part of Katiana's move-in. Being able to decorate her room in whatever acceptable way that didn't make Kat gag was just a bonus. Kat was minutely grateful that she hadn't seen Nathan at all since being back.

After her father's own parting hug and words, Kat settled on one of the small sofas, Annabelle's plate on the coffee table in front of her as Kat tucked into her own food, finally taking the time to look at the notifications on her phone. Other than an early morning conditioning reminder from the dance team captain and a few dancers lamenting that if they didn't love dancing they probably would quit while they were ahead, Kat found herself smiling at Cornelius' text, but beaming for absolutely no reason at Jake's saying that he would be there. She had honestly surprised herself by becoming interested in CJ last year, though Kat was still wary about calling it anything other than a base level attraction. They were friends, pretty damn good friends. And in all honesty, she needed those. She also couldn't deny that she was intrigued by the idea of them, especially because she just saw Cornelius as so good, and safe. Because Jake wasn't. After everything that had happened with Nathan, and honestly just re-solidifying that Jake was her number one best friend in the entire world, Kat was also reminded why she had been so adamant about originally making it work with Nate. Having feelings that didn't want to go away for your best friend was no joke. It made you do things like grin stupidly in a room filled with people you really should be socializing with, knowing damn well they didn't see you in the same light. That was definitely far from safe.

Nick rolled his eyes good-naturedly at Harry being still hung up on the idea of them getting a coffee maker. It probably was a great idea, especially because it would save Nick the money he spent on Starbucks. Honestly, it was a great idea now that he actually thought about it. Before coming to Fulton, Nick had actually worked at Starbucks and it was his first job at Fulton freshman year. In truth, he probably - if they got all the syrups or creamers - make drinks on the same level as Starbucks. It had just always seemed easier, especially because he was usually on the go, to just stop by the store really quick since the baristas knew his order very well and keep it pushing. Less hassle and Nick always went earlier enough that he missed the eight am flow. That was always hell and he had learned his lesson sophomore year when the longevity of his lab classes increased and he needed more coffee in order to not look like the zombie he felt like.

"Sounds lazy, but your call," he stated teasingly with a grin, going to the drawer Harry specified to get them all out. Steve's pizza was the first one he saw as it was a classic, but Nick preferred actually being there. There was an actual arcade and it had an old-timey, hipster-ish feel to it that had to be enjoyed upfront, not over the phone. But he put that menu on the counter along with both the Chinese and Italian places they frequented. He was about to see if they still had the menu for the Ethipioan place because even though delivery wasn't something the restaurant did frequently, the last Kappa president had been charming enough to get them forever delivery and that was something Nick was never going to pass up on. However, before he could say another word, Harry had thrown himself on Nick without warning and Nick sputtered out a "Sh-shit!" as he hurried to actually steady himself and support his crazy ass best friend. "What are we? Five?" He complained, though he didn't exactly move to push Harry off. Nick wouldn't call himself the most fit person in their house, but he still did some physical activity. If it wasn't carrying crates of alcohol, it had something to do with the serving trays of food or the tennis he tried partaking in. Of course, none of that seemed to matter when Harry gave him a firm squeeze and told him never to leave him, which was playful - obviously it was playful. But that thought alone had not been enough to stop his heart from fluttering like an idiot in his chest and the grin on his face from widening the way that it had. "Yeah, yeah, sure. Just help me figure out what we're eating tonight," he said, thankful that his breath didn't hitch at the first word past his lips.

Kissing his mother on the cheek, Khari thanks her for the ride and exits her car. Grabbing his duffel bag out of the boot, Khari hastens toward the Sigma house, excitement bubbling up. Shaking his head, Khari hated that he had missed his brothers so much, but there was no denying that he was thrilled he was about to see them. Just before he arrives at the door, Khari's phone goes off and he stops to check it. Smirking at Alea & Dee's response to his text. Quickly he types a reply, looking up briefly from his phone to notice River waltzing into the Sigma house to which Khari only rolls his eyes.

To: Angel Ally / Alea, Dee Dee / Deanna, Queen Kory / Korinna
Ouch Alea, guess I'll just have to refresh your memory when I see you, which better be tonight btw. I've missed u all.

Despite Kory not responding to his text, Khari still added her in the message because it was true, he had missed them all and that included her. Sending out one more text, Khari walks toward the door as he types.

To: Ginger / Annabelle
How was your summer? Do anything fun without me?

Khari was hesitant to send this text out, which he knew he shouldn't be. He was simply asking his friend how her summer was, nothing more. Who was he kidding? Khari knew it was something more. He'd seriously missed Annabelle's cute smiles and quirky personality over the summer, which only confused his feelings for her even more. Khari knew he'd be bad news and that Annabelle is far too good for him, so Khari will never say anything to her, but he can't help to way that he feels. Which is why he sends the text with bated breath, hoping that she responds.

Shaking off his nerves, Khari thinks to himself about how stupid he's being before realising he's been standing outside the Sigma house for a solid 3 minutes now. Placing a classic grin on his face, Khari walks over to the door and bangs it open, announcing his arrival. "Daddy's home!" He yells, as he heads for the kitchen where he knew the other guys would be. As he walks in, Khari is greeted by the sight of his little absolutely covered in snakes. "Jesus little bro, sometimes I wonder if there's any helping you." He teases, giving Cassius a light punch on the shoulder that had no snake wrapped around it. Turning to the rest of the guys, Khari lifts up his arms and says, "Boys!" The laddish behaviour already beginning to set right back in. "How were your summers? I wanna hear it all." He says toward no one in particular, giving anyone the chance to step in and speak. Khari leans back against a kitchen counter, his grin only growing as he looks at each of his brother's. God fucking damn I am happy to be home Khari thinks.

Annabelle's dad looked sligtly confused by Scarlett's introduction. "It's like the buddy system in high school. We just call them sisters."

The confusion on her dad's face cleared and he shook Scarlett's hand. "Nice to meet you too Scarlett.

Annabelle took another bag from her dad. She knew better than to try and take anything back from Scarlett. It wasn't that Scarlett was vicious or controlling, or anything like that, she was just stubbornly helpful. Any protests that they could manage without her would fall on deaf ears. Scarlett had decided that she was going to help and that was what was going to happen. She grabbed another bag from the doorway. "Upstairs then?"

Annabelle bounded up the stairs and walked along the hallway until she found her room. A brief thrill ran through her when she saw she was rooming with Katiana. She dropped her backpack on the unmade bed and helped get the rest of her cases in her room. "I'll have to head off now sweetie, work needs me tomorrow."

Annabelle nodded. "Ok, sure. Don't worry about it." She wrapped her arms around him and pecked his cheek. "Thanks for driving me over."

Her dad gave her a brief squeeze before he pulled away. "Take care. and if you ever need anything, just call."

Annabelle smiled. "I think between Scarlett and Nick, I'll be fine, but I'll call when I get homesick." She looked over at Scarlett. "She's a fine upstanding member of the community. She's studying to be a doctor. I'm in very good hands," she said as she led her dad back downstairs. She could feel her phone buzzing in her pocket. She wasn't usually this popular. Her dad opened the door to the car and gave her one last peck on the cheek.

"Take care sweetie."

Annabelle rolled her eyes playfully. "I will. Drive safe." She waved him off and watched the car pull away until he turned the corner off the street. It was a bittersweet feeling watching him go and she missed him the moment his car was out of sight. She took her phone from her pocket and opened her messages. Her chest tightened for a split second when she saw the first message was from Brooks. She liked Brooks, of that she was sure. What she wasn't sure about was exactly what these feelings were. They had been friends since their freshman year and she had missed him. Being around Brooks was as easy as breathing.

To: Ocean Boy/Brooks
I'd definitely rather be drawing than unpacking. See you later?

And then there was Khari. How the hell had she gotten into this? She wasn't expecting to like anyone, at all, nevermind a senior. He was cute, really cute, and Annabelle knew she got hideously flustered when he was around.

To: Ari
Define fun. I visited some art galleries on my own. Such a rock&roll lifestyle, I know. How was your summer?

Annabelle pocketed her phone and headed back inside. She sat down on the couch next to Kat and took her plate. Annabelle propped her head on Kat's shoulder. "So, how was your summer?"

It didn't take long for CJ to get back to her and Kat eagerly set to responding to him while she awaited Annabelle's eventual return. Plus, it wasn't that difficult, being in wait. A few of her big sisters came by to check in on her, asking about how conditioning was going since most of the others knew what she was going through because Katiana told them in the group text that her schedule would be overrun by dance if all went well. She had no doubt that she would make it through try-out. All of the money her parents put into her career as such was definitely not going down the drain, even if her body was going to feel like shit for a few weeks as Katiana got back into the groove of things. It occurred to Kat only after the rush of it all and her earlier excitement to see her roommate, that she hadn't even reached out to her other bestie, which would not do at all.

By the time Annabelle had returned, Katiana had went to sneak two more chocolate-filled croissants since there was no such thing as too much chocolate in this world, no matter what nutritionists and the like had to say on the matter. She didn't need either, but she figured there was nothing wrong with treating herself when she was going to burn it and more off later. She had taken another bite of the first croissant when her friend plopped herself at Katiana's side. Kat grinned as a welcome, covering it with her hand as she hurried to chew the chocolate goodness in order to speak again. "Pretty good. Did the cruise from Barcelona like I told you of. Matter of fact, I've got all of the pictures on my phone if you still wanted to see them..." Kat trailed off then, using a napkin to wipe her hand before pulling her phone back out, idly inquiring, "What about you?"

"Don't tempt me cuz you know my dumb ass will try 'n wear 'em like I don't got no type of sense," Deanna warned, even though she had already decided that the glasses were going to be a necessary accessory the next time she was scheduled to DJ. She had said that she was willing to do so for the bonfire tomorrow, but the association that funded and was hosting it wanted their students to actually enjoy the festivities, not be a part of making everyone else enjoy it. Deanna hadn't had it in her to fret over it being a lost money opportunity. She was already on schedule to DJ a host of events as the year progressed, so she honestly had no qualms. Besides, it also meant that she didn't have to think about how fucked up she was tomorrow because she would have no limits.

Deanna was poised to make another comment, especially after Alea's explanation, but she was forced to note the sweet smile on the brown-skinned girl because oh, hello heart, nice to meet your acquaintance once again. There was a weird, too-happy-to-be-acceptable flutter in Deanna's stomach at being able to cause that expression, which made her, in turn, swallow down any words that might have been stuck in her throat. When Deanna had originally befriended Alea, she flirted with the same amount of zeal she possessed with everyone else, combined with her usual playful vitriol. It had been easy to see Alea as a friend last year and a potential Zeta sister. She had, as she was wont to do with most females, considered seeing if she could push her look at a possible make-out or even getting the girl into bed, but the latter had been scratched off the agenda because Lea would be a "baby" to the sorority, so she was off limits to a certain degree. But then Dee had to go and care about the girl, and for some reason, that threw her all the way off. She cared about Kory and a host of the other Zetas, but Lea made her feel weird shit. And Dee didn't process that well. She had honestly forgotten about it until her heart did the stupid skip-a-beat-like-a-sap shit a second ago. Luckily, she had texts from Kory and Jax to distract herself with.

"We should have burgers," Deanna declared once her text in their group chat with Kory was delivered, already picturing some onion rings. "Juicy, greasy burgers and onion rings. And ooohh, apple pie! Can't get any more American than apple pie."

Helping her little move in reminded Scarlett off her first move-in day. It could be described as tense at first, but became better later on. Her father canceled a week of his English classes in Italy just to help her move in. It was also the first time he would meet Scarlett's stepfather. The twins were left with a babysitter so it Scarlett's mother, her father, her stepfather, and her. The first meeting was very tense since her biological father and stepfather were sizing each other up. Mom was very neutral about her one night stand/father of her child. Jeffrey, her stepfather, was a traditional man so it upset him that Scarlett's birth father left the two of them and didn't take full responsibility. Her biological father was used to being the only man in her life, so that made him feel threatened. A competition began between the two of them. Scarlett and her mom didn't understand, must be a man thing. The two men would try to carry the most or argue over who would set up the lights or hang pictures. The whole thing was hilarious and it let Scarlett and her mom do some last minute shopping. They came back and everything was set up and two were laughing over something, and drinking beer. Scarlett doesn't know where they got the beer from, but the two men were best friends and her room was set up. It was a fond memory.

It was getting later in the day and many of the other girls made already moved in. Scarlett spied into the living room to see Annabelle and Katiana talking and snacking on the treats some of the upperclassmen got for the new residents. The older Thetas always try to do something nice for the freshman and sophomores. Dinner was coming up to and Scarlett was in charge of that. Pizza was perfect good her, but maybe they should do something a little nicer. A nearby Chinese restaurant gave special discounts to Thetas, because the owner used to be a Theta and Scarlett was known to come by at two in the morning for fried rice. Annabelle would love it since Chinese is a favorite. Katiana might want something else though. There's an iHop nearby, which is one of Katiana's favorite. "Hey girls! Do we want to order in from Mr. Chen's or go to iHop for dinner? We're not going immediately. I just wanted you all to think on it! If we order in, I think Kappa is doing is doing the same, so maybe a little get together with our sibling house!" Scarlett still needed to call in at home, Mom's orders. Plus, plenty of new texts needed to be answered and she needed to run her idea by Harry!

To: Second Best Doctor / Harry
Is the doctor in? ;P
Did your house plan on eating in tonight? Theta might be doing the same so would you like to have a little get with your favorite sorority? I'll buy dessert!

From: STUDY BUDDY <3 / Nari
You here yet? I'm coming to see you later on if that's alright.
To: STUDY BUDDY <3 / Nari
You are always welcome! We might be eating out or staying here. It's unknown, but I'll text you details! I missed you! How was your summer?

From: Trouble / River
You back on campus? I know you must be missing me at least a little...
To: Trouble / River
I've been on campus for a while. I plead the fifth on the last bit.

Brooks couldn't help pacing as he wondered throughout the Beta house. He said hi and had a few conversations with some of the nicer guys, but it was only to be polite. Brooks knew he wasn't very popoular among the other brothers in the house. Most of them wouldn't give him a second glances if he hadn't been accepted. He wasn't pedigree like some of them or a legacy. He's heard stories that some of his Beta 'brothers' have been spreading behind his back. They say that not only is B.S. is his initials, but it's also the reason he was chosen for Beta. Rumors say that he was a charity case, accepted only to make the fraternity look better. Everyone knows he's adopted by his Uncle and his boyfriend, but Brooks said it was because his parents passed away when he was young. He'd rather be known as an orphan instead of a 'crack kid' like in elementary school. Hopefully, his lie won't come to the light. The Betas already think he's lower in status so that would be putting his at literal bottom of the totem pole. He knows he is only higher, because his Big is the President. Brooks still didn't understand, but luck chose him for some reason, only the coming year will tell.

"Home, sweet, home!" A familiar voice called out. Brooks was quick to hurry to the entrance. He knew that voice anywhere. It was the voice of someone he considered a friend. Maddox was one of the few great people in Beta. He didn't care about who Brooks was attracted too, though he would voice his opinion regardless. It was nice to have a friend in the house who was lax about his sexuality since all the others acted scandalized by his interested in the opposite gender.

"I'm glad you're here. No one interesting or nice is here." Brooks didn't care if the other Betas heard him. He knew what they said behind his back. "Want to do anything? I told Eliza I would help her unpack and I haven't seen Abigail yet so could we head over to Alpha?" Brooks desperately wanted to get out of the house. He needed cool people to be around. Speaking of cool people, he felt his phone vibrated.

From: Arden The Awesome
Hey, you on campus? How was your summer broski.
Okay. That was weird, ignore that please <3

To: Broski/Arden
It's now your new name on my phone so I guess we're both weird!
Summer was great! Although, my surf spot in Cali is now private. I learned that the hard way. Handcuffs are not fun, my friend. I'll give you more details later. I told Eliza I would help her move in. :(

From: Princess/Eliza
Can't tell if you're joking, but if you could come help me I'd be so grateful. I might even be nice.

To: Princess/Eliza
NICE! I've always wanted to see that. I'll be there soon. Maddox might be coming too.

From: Music Maker / Alea
Yeah, got here a few hours ago.
I have something for you from Jamaica, though you’ll need to come down here soon so you can enjoy it.
It’ll die soon, but I got it right before I headed to the airport so we got maybe 9 or 10 hours?

To: Music Maker / Alea
A gift for me? Awesome! I gotta help some of the Alphas move in, but I'll hurry.

From: Picasso/Annabelle
I'd definitely rather be drawing than unpacking. See you later?

To: Picasso/Annabelle
Sweetness! I did some sketches that I wanted to show you.

SATURDAY AUGUST 26TH || BACK-TO-SCHOOL BONFIRE || 9:15 PM
The significance of the Fulton University Back-to-School bonfire was that it was originally meant for one to cast into the flames the troubles of the year before; whatever it was that one felt was holding them back, whether it be a relationship they couldn't let go of on their own or anxieties that crippled them academically when all one needed to do was have faith, it needed to be thrown into flames. It was supposed to bring relief and that relief was found in throwing away the jacket an ex gave you or even a bracelet from a friendship you thought would never end. Don't let the alcohol and tomfoolery fool you. It was supposed to mean something and to some, it still does.

Nevertheless, each year the bonfire is hosted at the estate of an undisclosed sponsor - some believe it is an alumna, but until proven otherwise, take advantage of being in a mansion that most won't ever actually afford, #sorrynotsorry - where the beach property is mostly used for celebrations. Students also like to occupy the spacious home as there is a DJ inside, as well as inside, and food. Most have already arrived at this annual festive event filled with drunken hook-ups, wild dancing, tricks and the like while others are still on the way. At the end of the day, though, it's very rare that a night like this doesn't end in a fight or two, especially with the Greek organizations in attendance...

Khari had spent the entirety of his night talking to and catching up with all of his friends, not only was he filled in on all his brothers shenanigans but Cornelius came over which was nice because even though he wasn't an official Sigma, Khari always thought he was far more Sigma material than he's ever been Kappa material. But alas there seemed to be nothing Khari could do to change his friends mind, so he simply enjoyed the guys company instead. The tales he was told about everyone's summers both made Khari chuckle and also, in some cases, even managed to shock him because of the things his friends managed to get themselves into.

It wasn't until the early hours that Khari finally called it a night and said adios to his buddies. Heading off to bed, he had been meaning to send out a few more texts but as soon as he lay down Khari fell straight asleep.

- - - -

Khari didn't wake up until 12pm the next afternoon and had spent much of his time in his joggers and a white tee, chilling around the house. He knew he didn't have to go out until the evening, which was when the bonfire would take place, so he felt no need to hurry out of his comfy clothes. More holiday stories were shared and a lot more laughter occurred before Khari looked at the clock and realised it was getting closer and closer to the time they were supposed to be leaving.

It wasn't until seven that Khari finally began to actually get ready. He jumped in the shower, shaved and got dressed into a casual, yet very much so his style, outfit for the evening. Spraying himself with a little aftershave, Khari winks at his reflection before deciding to check on how the other guys were getting on. He had just assumed that they would all be going up together as a frat.

Walking down the hallway that led him to Jax's room, Khari stopped a few steps from his friend's door to send out a couple text, just to make sure that everyone he wanted to see and catch up with would be going tonight.

To: Angel / Alea
You & your girls coming tonight? Wouldn't be a party without the Zetas ;)

To: Ginger / Annabelle
Sucks we didn't get to catch up last night. Hang @ the bonfire?

To: Queen Kory / Korinna
Saw you'd bailed before I got to the Sigma house :/ See you tonight?

Happy with those messages, Khari hits send and continues on his way to the Sigma president's room. Knocking loudly, Khari calls out "Hey pretty boy, you ready yet?" Leaning his shoulder against the doorframe as he waits for a response - most likely one just as snarky as his own. Khari and Jax had been friends for quite a long time now and had a very particular, and very sarcastic, way of talking to each other.

Brooks felt happy with how he spent the rest of his move in day. Helping the girls at Alpha was better than spending any more time at Beta. Some of the girls didn't understand why he was a Beta too so it wasn't too different, but Abigail and Eliza made up for it. Katrina was there too, but Brooks and her never got along. There wasn't any animosity between them; they were just very different people. The evening was fun and it was sad to see it end.

Brooks spent most of the next running errands, checking in with his off campus job, and, of course, surfing. The last two were basically the same thing since he had a lesson at eleven. A thirteen year old girl who didn't seem all that interested until she found she couldn't stand on her board in the water. She became determined and by the end of the lesson, she could stay on it for the whole ride. It was moments like these that made Brooks happy with his career choice. He gets paid to do what he loves and teach people the wonderfulness that is surfing. It bummed Brooks out when he thought about giving all this up. He'd still be able to surf, but not as much once he graduated. Architecture or Marine Biology? The same choice he should've made last year. Both careers would be fun and exciting, but choosing was not what Brooks wanted. It wasn't like double majoring was impossible, but it would take up a lot of time. He sighed as he walked into the Beta house. "Why can't I make good decisions?"

After a hot shower, Brooks put on a pair of swim trunks for tonight's event. The location was sweet since it was right on the water, and had a pool. Brooks would be in one or the other before the night ended so it was best to be prepared. He was still debating on what shirt when someone spoke. Brooks jumped, not expecting it. "Well look at you, sexy Betsy." Brooks rolled his eyes before turning to his favorite Beta. Maddox was always a flirt and while Brooks was cool with it, he didn't fall for his charms. Brooks followed one simple rule with his fraternity brothers, 'don't bang your brothers.' It sounded like a disaster waiting to happen so he avoided it. "I swear your mission in life is to see me naked." Brooks teased. He decided on a simple, black tank and some flip flops to complete his look. Brooks wasn't trying to impress anyone so his typical surf boy look should be fine. Speaking of impressing people, Brooks returned and sent some texts before Maddox and him headed out.

To: Broski/Arden
I've got your back, broski! Try not to get super wasted? Don't need a repeat of freshman year :)

To: Music Maker / Alea
See ya at the bonfire? I need my favorite Zeta!

To: Picasso/Annabelle
I'll see you at the bonfire? Us artists have to stick together!

To: Princess/Eliza
Care to let me escort you to the royal bonfire, princess?

With his messages sent, Brooks returned his attention to Maddox. "Did you want to carpool with the Alpha girls or are we all just going to meet up?" Brooks leaned against his dresser, waiting for the older Beta.

Morning yoga for Scarlett was about as essential as coffee is for Finals Week. She started out every morning in the backyard of the Theta house. Sometimes the girls would join her and it'd be like an impromptu yoga class, but it was great for building moral among the girls. The girls always said that her little yoga sessions helped build positive vibes in the house so Scarlett saw no reason to stop. Little moments like these were precious to Scarlett, especially know that she's a senior. Soon, she'd be passing the baton to the next President. While graduating and med school was exciting, she would miss her time in the Theta house. It was like a second home to her and she wanted the next President to make it feel the same.

The rest of Scarlett's day was filled with checking in on the new members and helping some of the new girls choose an outfit for the bonfire tonight. The Theta's reputation on campus is a great one, but when a party comes around, most people expect the Thetas to stay locked in their house, studying and preparing for tests. Some girls do do that, but the Theta girls can enjoy a party just as well as the other sororities. A few girls needed advice on what looked good and if wearing a swimsuit with a cover-up was okay. It was naturally and Scarlett did her best to ease any anxiety among her new sisters. It wasn't until seven when she finally got to get ready herself. Scarlett did decide to wear a swimsuit under her clothes since it was a beach setting. Her cover-up consisted of a tribal crop top and black maxi skirt. Sandals as footwear since she'd be taking them off by the end of the night. To top it off, Scarlett kept her makeup simple and sweet. She smiled as she looked in the mirror. Tonight would be a night of fun and no drama. A sudden chirp from her phone distracted Scarlett from her positive thoughts. Speaking of drama, Scarlett sighed at the text from River. It wasn't as if he was a terrible person, but the idea of him didn't feel right. He was one of Jax's good friends and known for devious behavior. Even though her brain said don't respond, Scarlett typed out a response and sent some of her own texts.

To: Trouble / River
I'll be there! See ya there?

To: STUDY BUDDY <3 / Nari
Wanna meet up at the bonfire? I need my best girl!

To: Second Best Doctor / Harry
Ready to party like we just finished a twenty hour surgery? lol

To: Brother from Another Mother / Nick
I better see you at the bonfire! Save me a dance <3

Checking herself one last time, Scarlett made her way to her little and her little's roommate's room. She knocked on the door, not wanting to intrude in case they were changing. "Hey girls! Do you need any help getting ready for tonight? Or maybe a ride?"

Annabelle stared at the clock on her bedside table, not quite registering what the numbers were telling her. It was afternoon...maybe? Close to the afternoon. She rolled over and checked her phone. 14:28 was the time the clock was telling her. That was way into the afternoon. Annabelle sighed and fell back into her pillow. In hindsight, staying up way into the small hours with Kat just talking, and drinking a lot of tea, wasn't their smartest move. Fun, but not smart. At least classes haven't started yet.

Annabelle swung her legs over the side of the bed and slowly sat up. The afternoon light filtered in through a gap in the curtains. Annabelle saw her phone was blank and tucked it back under her pillow and wiped the sleep from her eyes. She stretched out and grabbed her towel and shampoo and headed to the shower room. Annabelle sighed as the hot water hit her shoulders, easing the stiffness that had come from the car journey yesterday. She lost track of how much time she had spent in the shower, but she didn't emerge until she smelled of oranges and grapefruit.

With a few hours to kill, Annabelle propped a small canvas up in the corner of the room. Annabelle looked out of her window. The sky was blue and clear, and cold. Blue and purple were squeezed onto a palette and began splashing colour onto the canvas. Great bold spirals and swipes of colour adorned the canvas. When the canvas was covered, she stood back and picked up a new paintbrush and went back in, building a picture that she could see in her mind.

She sighed and dropped her paintbrush back into the beaker. Her phone buzzed behind her and she picked her phone up.

From: Ocean Boy
I'll see you at the bonfire? Us artists have to stick together!

To: Ocean Boy
Like I would dare miss you.

There was a knock at the door and Annabelle looked over her shoulder as Scarlett came in. Annabelle was pretty sure that she had paint smears on her face and hands, it usually happened. "Hey girls! Do you need any help getting ready for tonight? Or maybe a ride?"

"I dunno, I probably need to wash up again. A ride would probably be good."

Her phone buzzed again. It was a text from Khari.

From: Khari
Sucks we didn't get to catch up last night. Hang @ the bonfire?

To: Khari
I'll see you there
