Naturally jet black and rather soft with only the faintest hint of a curl once his hair gets wet or the rather small amount of gel he uses dissipates from his short strands, Nicholas has never really cared for anything longer than the style that he has. He keeps the sides of his head cut relatively close to his scalp with the top of his head holding more hair, though even that is still short.

G E N E R A LXA P P E A R A N C E

Considering the fact that he's rather blind without his black-rimmed glasses, which means that he can rarely - if ever - take them off for too long, Nicholas really doesn't find himself attractive. In fact, he's definitely accepted what he believes is an inherent truth, though that is still debatable. After all, even if he doesn't feel the same or blushes when the compliments come his way, there's no denying that he is kind of cute. A term he loathes to accept, but it is what it is at this point in the game. He doesn't have as much of a muscular body as he does wiry, which makes him lean, lithe and rather slim in comparison to some of the Betas and even Sigmas on campus who thrive on being broad-shouldered and such. Nick is as fit as he can be for someone who does not religiously work out, but he's still toned due to being dragged to yoga sessions and occasionally going back to his roots with the occasional laps he'll swim at the pool at the campus' athletic center. Due to only the faintest slouch he's inherited from always being leaned over working on a project, going over paperwork or simply being at a computer, it's not all that uncommon to not see Nick standing at his full height, a height that he hates since he would have loved to hit that six feet mark like his younger brother. However, there's no denying the masculinity within him, particularly in the sharp angle of his jaw that he does have if you pay attention or he clenches his jaw in frustration as he is wont to do. His eyes, though hidden behind his glasses, are rather dark and some even consider them like doe-eyes with how big they can seem once he takes his glasses off. His skin is tanned, an olive complexion, and he keeps his face relatively free of facial hair save for the occasional five o'clock shadow.

F A S H I O NXS E N S E

To be quite honest, Nick doesn't really care for fashion nor does he really think that he needs to. Granted, if everyone's going out for dinner, there's an event on campus or even if he has an interview, he'll definitely try to show out to the best of his abilities. But the simple truth is that the majority of the decent looking clothing that he does have in his wardrobe are due to one of his best friends, Amaris, his sisters, and the occasional retail employee who decided to help him out in stores when he turned those lost puppy eyes on them. And, since we're still being honest, he really doesn't have to try too hard to impress anyone. He knows what his field is and if he plays his cards right, he'll be hiding his clothes under white lab coats for the rest of his life. However, again, he does like looking good and his staple is a nice dress shirt with the tie being optional, a fitted pair of jeans or trousers, and depending on how he feels, loafers or sneakers. When he's at his fraternity house or during long nights in the labs, then he's bound to pull on some loose fitting sweatpants and a basic tee shirt, but he's genuinely not a fashionable guy. He just likes to be comfortable.

Pulls the ringpull off the cans she drinks and once done puts the ring pull in the empty can ✦ Has a hard time stopping himself from babbling, especially when nervous or feeling like he's been put on the spot. Nick, unless he's just working and not having to do presentations, is really a bundle of nerves and while he doesn't babble at every second of the day, flirt with him or really give him a lot of attention, and he'll start babbling out words and even acknowledging that he's babbling while doing so. ✧ He writes with his left hand, but is right-hand and right-foot dominant on most things. ✦ Has a set of dog tags that he rarely, if ever, takes off. They belonged to his grandfather, who served in the US military until he had grown ill and died, and belonged to his mother until she died of breast cancer six years ago. ✧ Has a tendency to substitute smoothies for meals. Because Nick is either working on homework late or is at one of his jobs, he doesn't always have the time to actually sit down and enjoy a meal, so he tells himself that it's fine that he has smoothies in the morning or during the middle of the day as long as they have some kind of protein, usually protein powder, so that he can stay full longer. ✦ Has a shellfish allergy and carried an EpiPen at all times.

G R E A T E S TXJ O Y S

His family: As much as they all have their moments and Nick feels like strangling each and every one of them every other day, he knows that he would have gotten nowhere without their continued love and support. They are literally the reason why he's even going into the field that he's going into because as a whole (not individually), they've supported his desires and they know that all that he does is for them. To give back to them or at least make them proud. ✦ His friends: Nick is an introvert through and through with the occasional foray into wilder social scenes. With that being said, he has an insurmountable appreciation for the small group of true friends that he does have. They're not the type that he has to consistently go out on a night on the town with, be at every party with, or even have to talk to at every hour of the day, though that the latter is what they all wind up doing anyway. They can order take-out or share appetizers at a bar, order a few glasses of wine or already have the bottles in their respective homes, and just enjoy one another's companies in an intimate setting. He also appreciates their acceptance of him, flaws and all. ✧ Children: He won't say he finds them all that innocent, but there's still something endearing about the possibilities that lay dormant in their little bodies.

G R E A T E S TXF E A R S

Perpetual Rejection: What Nick has learned to hate about himself is the fact that he always falls for people who can never love him or don't see him as good enough. He can't stand the idea of being rejected by his top graduate schools or job opportunities, but moreover, he fears forever being rejected by people he falls for. Because it only confirms his fears that he really isn't attractive or worthy. ✦ The freezing cold: More specifically, being under freezing waters. As good of a swimmer as he's become, there was an incident he'd rather not think about and that mind-numbing pain of being under for too long has stuck with him. ✧ Never amounting to anything: He works hard, sure, but Nick is always going to fear none of it amounting to anything after he promised his mother that he would.

Nicholas can be as annoyed as he wants to be when people use a specific term to describe him, but the simple truth of the matter is that if you call him adorable, it's a bit hard to discern that as a a false statement. Because he is, no matter what he says. In fact, it would probably be best to not allow Nick to describe himself at all because he has a hard time giving himself his due. Respecting himself as much as someone he knows and cares for him does - loving himself as much as he loves other people. Nick has never been able to really feel particularly special and it's probably because the majority of those efforts have been so intensely given to others that he lives none of that consideration for himself. Leave it to him and his own thoughts, and Nick would spend the rest of his nights and the majority of his days believing himself to not really being as attractive as he is or even as smart. In fact, he believes that a lot of his success has been in lieu of the fact that he's simply a hardworking young man, and that is the one compliment he can give to himself. That he works hard. Other than that, it's very hard to reconcile a sense of confidence within him other than when acknowledging his work ethic. Nick isn't the type to believe that he isn't worthy of living, but he definitely would rather focus on making sure that others around him feel supported and admired for whatever reasons and ideas they might possess.

That may also be where a bit of his own personal charm, though he'll deny himself this as well, comes into play because there aren't many people who are undoubtedly humble. Some hide their humility behind sharp commentary and wicked stares, but Nick's is rather open. In fact, if you didn't think he was an introvert as he is, you would think that Nick himself is rather open. For all those who believe that inherently nice guys don't exist, you've obviously never met Nicholas Jamael Reyes because he's literally a sweetheart. A rather intelligent and driven sweetheart, but a sweetheart nonetheless. Most people know him as this really nice guy whose passionate about providing something innovative and helpful to the future of healthcare, whether as a computational biologist or developer. He's the type you can trust on a night of drinking to make sure that everyone gets home because he's rarely the one, unless forced by friends, to get drunk, the one who's fiscally responsible, and he's also just a sensitive person. In both respects where, firstly, he really takes critiques and shots against his person hard, but also that he's really attuned to the needs of other people. This is the guy, during his mother's two battles with breast cancer, took it upon himself to really help out in making sure his younger siblings had what they needed emotionally and mentally. This is the guy who, for very endearing reasons as opposed to selfish ones or in lieu of self-preservation, takes the time to really observe other people and learn them. Because Nick isn't the loudly outgoing type, his perpetual shyness and quiet culminates in quiet stares and observant glances that enable him to truly learn about what makes other people tick. He's definitely a nurturing soul and that's what makes him such a great friend. A pushover at times, sure, and someone who can be used by others depending on how alone he is in the situation. But a truly kind heart, at the end of the day.

But Nick's not without a little fire in him, after all. Depending on how passionately he feels about the subject or how badly someone pisses him off, Nick can and will snap back. But he'll especially do it in the defense of someone else like when he feels that a friend has been wronged. He has his occasional and surprising foray into sass and sarcasm, which makes him a delight at times because most people don't expect it from him. He's also rather impulsive for a good-natured guy like himself, wearing his heart on his sleeve and being such a romantic. Nick has a tendency to fall for people too easily, but after being played or hurt once, will be ready to call a person out on their shit. He might believe that there's good in other people and likes to be an optimist, but make no mistake that he's also not about to be hurt a second time. He's not naive, after all. He may not think he's this really attractive guy despite the amount of guys he's managed to bag in his time at Fulton or that he deserves all this praise for his intelligence, but he does know that he's worth a lot more than being asked for help every other day or just having meaningless flings. Or even being involved with people who aren't as serious about relationships as he is. And he'll gladly let you know as well.

"While it's probably not a surprise which fraternity I joined considering...well, I am kinda a nerd, it surprised the hell out of friends and family that I decided to join a frat in the first place, regardless of its reputation. I was never the type to really...get into that scene, so when I came to Fulton and met this Kappa guy, I really hadn't even considered the idea of joining. We were literally just gonna sleep together this one good time since, honestly, I only really sleep with guys on the first date if I have no intention of ever dating them. But then he talked about his brothers the morning after, got me to sit in on a few discussions about the organization history, and before I know it, I'm really invested in joining. And I haven't regretted it since."

If he was at any other school, there's a strong possibility that Nick would have never joined a fraternity and focused only on his studies. However, once he learned of the Kappas and really got to know them, there was no other organization on campus he wanted to be affiliated with more.

"So, as of right now, I literally have two options. During sophomore year, we were at a career fair where I met two representatives from Genentech. We were talking about career options for myself and what the company does since they're a pharmaceutical company in New York and the endgame, hopefully, is to live in New York with the rest of my family. Just talking to them had me interested in at least taking a course related to computational medicine, but then I wound up taking on the actual minor. Considering the fact that we've been talking since then and I even had an internship over the summer, I can safely say that that's a viable career option after graduation. However, I always wanted to go to graduate school and I know for a fact that I can safely get into Stanford, no questions asked, considering I honestly still don't know what exactly I really want to do other than help with research and development. I just know that I need to make a decision because I don't know if Genentech will still be waiting when I leave Stanford."

Trying to decide between attending Stanford University with a friend or going ahead into the workforce as a computational biologist

Brooklyn, New York, USA {Newborn-17} || Miami, Florida, USA {17-Current}

H I S T O R Y
When you think about it, Nick had a relatively normal childhood. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York with only one older sibling in the house and was able to say that his parents had a rather loving marriage. They weren't exactly situated in their middle class income as his father's family care practice was just getting off the ground, but Leo had been a good enough of a doctor in his time at working at the nearest hospital that he had a small yet loyal clientele that had followed him. Joanna had been a nursing student during his earlier years as a medical student and getting his doctorate's, and the two had had their first child, Jenny, before they were even married. Nick doesn't recall the apartment they had resided in up until he was seven, but he does remember the day they moved into the townhouse that would become the permanent Reyes abode. He also remembered the days of being in their family office, helping carry papers back and forth from the front desk where his mother worked to his father's private office in the back. He remembered the individual guest names and faces, and getting cups of water for those who had to wait to be seen. The candy dish he was in charge of keeping replenished because Jenny had a horrible habit of trying to hog all the snickers and kisses to herself. And unlike either Lou or Gigi, who would come just as their parents were able to pay off both of their own financial debt from school and classify themselves truly as middle class, Nick and Jenny both remember very clearly their mother's first battle with breast cancer. It was the reason, after all, that Nick had chosen to go into biomedical engineering.

Joanna had already, unlike with Jenny, influenced Nick to lean towards the medical field at a young age, but it was seeing the machine his mother had to be exposed to for radiation that really placed the idea of his current major in his head. Joanna had been strong, that much was certain, and it's not just in a physical sense either. She did all that she was supposed to do. More importantly, she tried to retain as much of her typical maternal presence as she possibly could, even on her worst days. Their family had always been traditional in the sense that they always ate meals together, they prayed over said meals together, they occasionally had movie nights together just to shut their parents up and when both parents had been available, and they always showed out for holidays. And for that entire year until Joanna's recovery, ten year old Nick remembers her still being present at preparing dinner, even if it meant she had to coach Jenny and him through the steps because Joanna was too physically weak to do much more than hold herself upright in a chair. No matter how tired she was or how frustrating it was that all of her hair had fallen off, Joanna kept up all pretenses and along with her working husband, who had to hire a temporary nurse to fill in the position she had, gave Nick the childhood she always wanted him to have. That she wanted all of them to have. Nick would go on to playing tennis at school, swimming on weekends, and performing very well as a student. He may not have been as social as either Louis or Gigi, or even as bold as Jenny, but he had a kind enough nature that made his high school years bearable. Not many people messed with the smart kid who could do your homework if you asked nicely. However, it was Joanna's second bout with breast cancer that both solidified his desire to want to attend Fulton and go into the field that he chose.

As advanced as technology and the medical field has become, the fact that it took doctors so long to realize that the cancer had returned (or even that their machines could not detect it) has stayed with Nick since his mother's diagnosis the summer before his junior year of high school. And Joanna, no matter how much she tried to smile reassuringly and how much Leo wanted to be involved considering he was a doctor but could not because it wasn't his specialty, couldn't handle it the second time around. She died just after New Years, at home and in the bed she and her husband shared, surrounded by her family. Since that day, Nick had worked his butt off to firstly, provide a minor source of income for the family. He and Jenny were the main ones with jobs so that they could help offset the financial burden of having to care for four kids alone since Leo would never ask for help. But Nick's main goal was getting into Fulton, his mother's alma mater, and specifically on a scholarship so that his Dad wouldn't have to worry about him as much as someone like Gigi. He applied for scholarships outside of the school, really stressed a need for work study, and was accepted due to his early decision application and personal statement. Even now, as a student at Fulton University, Nick is going to wind up leaving behind a legacy of always working hard and giving back. He's faithfully maintained his grades to keep up his scholarship, works two jobs to take care of clothing, transportation and any extra food expenses while helping send Gigi money for school, and joined one of the two brightest Greek organizations on campus. While others would think that he should regret not partying to the extreme since these were the only four years of Nick's life that he would have been able to, he has no real regrets in that aspect. He wishes he didn't sleep with certain people or get involved with those who weren't as serious as he had been, but he's enjoyed his time at Fulton.

The campus was alive with excitement, anxiety, nerves, and anticipation. A new school year has begun and for some, they are moving onto campus for the first time. They've looked at DIYs on Pinterest to decorate their new dorm rooms, managed to find the contact information for their prospective roommate so that they could figure out which one of them was going to bring the television or the small fridge, and prepared themselves for the over-dramatic goodbyes they're bound to receive from overprotective mothers and fathers. For some, they are arriving at Fulton or even Florida in an entirely new environment with a set of people they probably never encountered in their hometowns. Others are simply moving on campus from down the street. For a select few, they not only have done this before - this move in process - but they aren't as enthused. Not unless, of course, you are a part of the Greek life system. For these groups, some are older members awaiting the arrival of the new members they inducted just before the summer, little brothers and sisters they can't wait to fully ensnare into their individual fraternity culture. The others are these new members, eager to move away from the communal dorms and into their respective houses for the first times, eager for all the fun and belonging this new year is bound to bring them. This year means exclusive invitations to parties that other students wouldn't get. Hopefully, they're just as prepared for the drama this year is bound to bring as well.

Some upperclassmen were allowed to move on to campus earlier for various reasons. For instance, Katiana returned to campus on Monday because the dance team began conditioning before the school year even started; because her sister and father were helping her in (her mom couldn't take off), she ended up staying at the hotel with them and getting rides to campus during the day. Plus, Professor Lang - Tricia, now that Kat was allowed to call her that - had wanted her there earlier so that they could shape Katiana's schedule around Tricia's. There was no point in her having classes that would put her on one side of the campus when she would have to be in Tricia's class, helping, five minutes afterwards. The last four days had been grueling. The Fulton University dance team earned their stripes by strenuous hours of exercise and maintaining their flexibility, and while Kat was experienced in all of that, she was still human and was sore afterwards. Even now. It probably didn't help that she hadn't exactly spent as much of her summer as she normally did dancing.

"Why are they working y'all so hard? Ain't y'all already on the team?" Aja inquired, thumbs digging into the still slightly tense muscles in Kat's right calf, taking up a soothing rotation as she tried to massage the ache away. It wasn't nearly as bad as yesterday when Kat returned to hotel, but she knew it was going to bother her for the rest of the day. Luckily, Kat wasn't a novice to this. It was her own fault for not being as vigilant this summer. "Not really," she replied after a wince. Aja had struck a particular tense spot and after a few harder rubs, Kat relaxed onto the sofa they managed to make into the space under her bed. Even though Fulton happened to renovate the Greek homes, it didn't stop them from being cheap to an extent and putting beds that would've belonged to bunk beds in the shared bedrooms. It just so happened that Aja already had a plan for her because of that knowledge.

"Everybody but the captain and co-captain gotta audition to get their spot back on the team. Those of us who were, get to do the conditioning and learn the routine ahead of the newbies so that by the time auditions actually go down, we get judged - not just by how well we do the moves, but how much we add a lil somethin'-somethin' to it." Aja sucked her teeth, wincing in sympathy as she eventually stopped her ministrations so that Kat could fully lay back, legs on her big sister's lap. "Sucks, kiddo," she remarked. Kat was busy texting Jake, Kory, and Annabelle before she responded. "Tis life, babe," she replied, taking in her side of the room, hand in her hair. She'd been hit all over again with the giddiness that came with having Annabelle as her roommate and she couldn't wait to see the redhead. Their names had been on the bedroom door in the Theta colors. But she also couldn't wait to see Jake and Kory, even though she had seen both several times over the summer.

To: Jake, Kory
Dad & AJ wanna kno if u both need help?

To: Annie <3
Just moved in. Where r u roomie?

"Let's go. Dad's probably taking up your new sisters on crushing those pasties and coffee," Aja commented and Katiana slid her feet off the older woman; the petite dance rose to her feet and stretched, ignoring the near silent pop in the base of her spine. She needed to do another stretch before the day was over, a longer one at that. "Shit, I might take 'em up on that," she said with a grin, scooping up her phone and keys as she followed her sister out. The older Thetas made decaffeinated and caffeinated coffee that they had freshly ground in the morning with an assortment of scones, danishes, and pastries, with a few savory treats Kat's fast metabolism was ready to take on. Hopefully, they also had tea. Kat didn't feel like coming back upstairs to get her stash of loose-leaf just yet.

Annabelle twitched her foot in the well. Her dad was singing Africa by Toto for the tenth time. The already eleven hour drive was taking even longer. It took her a moment to realised that not everywhere was as small as East Ridge. The 20,000 strong population had always seemed huge when she was a kid, but now she spent her year in Miami and suddenly East Ridge felt even smaller. She looked out the passenger side window at the cars crawling by. There was more than one university in Florida, but Annabelle still couldn't help but wonder how many of them contained students bound for Fulton. She might be biased, but it was the best in Florida.

"Dad?"

"Hmm?"

"Do you think everyone had the same idea as us?"

"Looks that way."

Her phone buzzed in her pocket and she wriggled it out from beneath her seatbelt.

From: KitKat
Just moved in. Where r u roomie?

To:KitKat
On my way. We hit traffic :( Save me some food if you can

"Who you texting sweetheart?"

Annabelle looked up from her phone to her dad. Richard Everett was a good dad, she realised. A really good one. And he got bonus points for still being around. There were a tonne of kids back in East Ridge who didn't have one parent or the other. She was lucky she still had hers, even if she had to endure the girls at high school declaring him a DILF. "Just Kat. She's my roommate. You'd like her."

The traffic had finally started moving again as they rolled along the Florida roads. "Kat, huh?" Annabelle braced herself. She knew that tone. "Sure it's not a boy?" he teased.

"I have plenty of guy friends, dad, just no boyfriend. Or girlfriend. You know I'd tell you and mom if there was."

Richard reached over and squeezed her hand. "I know sweetheart, we just want you to be happy."

Annabelle smiled and squeezed his hand back. "I know. Besides, I won't get hurt. There's too many people wanting to protect me. Apparently I'm adorable and innocent and that makes people wanna look after me. You don't need to worry about anyone getting close enough to hurt me. Nick sieves out the creeps anyway."

"Nick's the gay kid, right?"

"Yes dad. Nick is the gay kid." Annabelle had to stifle a laugh. Nick wasn't the only gay student she knew, but it had been the first thing she blurted out when her dad had asked if they were an item. The revelation that Nick was only into guys had seemed to put her dad's concerns to rest.

They finally rolled onto campus, albeit a lot later than they anticipated when they had set off. Annabelle staggered out of the car, just grateful for the opportunity to finally stretch her legs out. She popped the trunk open and dragged a suitcase out. Annabelle practically skipped up the path and left her case in the hallway. The living area was filled with the aroma of coffee and fresh baking. Annabelle inhaled deeply. This felt like home. She spotted Kat across the room and ran up to her. "Kat!" Her squeal was the only warning the girl got before Annabelle threw her arms around Katiana.

Harry pinned the final poster on his wall and stood back. He looked around the room. After years of sharing, it felt weird to have a room to himself at university. Nice, but weird. He ran a hand through his hair, dishevelling it even more. This was his final year. He was president and all this would be over very soon. A few of the older Kappas were already here and Harry figured he should probably go down and get things ready for the newer members arriving.

"Get down off the counter James," he said as he came into the kitchen. He tapped his phone screen. "Save that behaviour for when you're drunk." Despite what the other presidents might think, he wasn't a complete killjoy, but people did have to eat off there in the next few hours. Harry curled his toes under his feet as he fired off a few texts.

To: Nick
Do you think anyone knew that James liked to dance on counters before he joined? Also, where are you? I need my right hand man.

To: Arden
You doing ok?

Harry flicked on the coffee machine, smiling as the machine gurgled into life. They needed a new one. A better one, like an industry standard one. His boys deserved it. "Guys, how would you feel about a new coffee machine?"

"Can we get an X-box?"

Harry sat on the edge of the counter, his bare feet swinging. "You coulda brought your own kidda."

"Then yes, we would like a coffee machine."

To: Nick
Also I have made an executive decision as president. We're getting a fancy ass coffee machine. It shall be our legacy

Katrina brushed her hair over her shoulder and took a sip of her coffee. There was buzz about the campus as she strutted across the courtyard, and it wasn't just from the caffeine. Freshman were moving into halls. She tilted her head as she observed them. Was I really that skittish? She probably was. She would have to ask Jasmine. Katrina spotted Jax across the way and had to suppress a laugh. She didn't giggle over boys, but poor Jax looked like he was about to kill one of the freshman.

Katrina soon lost interest in Jax's suffering and headed across campus to the Alpha house. She had scouted a few girls who looked like they might be Alpha material with a little time, but it was far too soon to be worrying the newbies about rush week, That would all come in time. A few of the girls were already around the house when she arrived. She waved to them and said a few polite hi's before she went into the house. Her heels clicked against the floor as she bounced up the stairs. It was a skill that had taken years of practice, moving quickly in heels without spilling her coffee. She had nearly perfected it.

Katrina smiled as she saw her door sign again. She was sharing with Jasmine, which she was fine with. She would have been happy with Abigail as well, but she was closer to Jasmine, the elder girl having been assigned her big sister when Katrina rushed. She threw her bag on her bed and kicked her heels off. She sat down elegantly and tapped the screen of her phone.

To: Maddox
Hey handsome, how was summer?

To:Jax
Please tell me you didn't kill any of the freshman. It would look terrible on your record.

To: Jasmine
Please tell me you're arriving soon. No one exciting is here yet :(

═════════════════════════
location: Craft Social Club -> Beta House

A whole summer away and the city of Miami hadn't changed one bit. It was still entirely too crowded, annoyingly humid, and still held some of the worst traffic in the country, second only to New York. Still, it felt good to be back, for the most part. Not to mention Maddox had been able to avoid the chaos of moving day by making an executive decision to come early. It may have been an interruption to his precious sleep, but by now his bags were unpacked, his half of the shared room with Nathan was set and decorated to fit the Beta lifestyle, and he was currently on his third cup of espresso, possibly planning a fourth. He sat in his car, in a half-empty parking lot, his dark eyes fixed on the large sign in fancy cursive letters that read Craft Social Club over the glass doors. It had taken a while, several hours to be precise, for the Beta to convince himself to come here. Not that he had anything against the place in particular, but the reason for his visit left somewhat of a bitter taste in his mouth. No one was forcing him to do this, really. No one aside from his guilty conscience, which Maddox had long since given up on, but was somehow restored over the course of the summer. Now said conscience was putting him to work.

A couple more seconds of gawking at the neon sign crawled by before he finally left the comfort of his vehicle, with a heavy sigh of defeat, and made a grand entrance through the cafe doors to be greeted by a Colgate smile. "Welcome sir, can I set you up with a table?" the small girl chimed, her hands reaching around the podium to grab a menu. "That's alright, I'm staying.". His response pulled the girl's attention, and the charm switched flipped to the "ON" position, capturing her with a fabricated smile. "There is something you can help me with, though." The poor girl stood, stock still, as the Beta inched closer to rest his elbows on the low podium. "I'm looking for one of your waiters." he affirmed, his hands matching his words as he spoke. "About yay high, kinda cute, wears glasses, pretty Asian last I checked." The girl responded with a soft giggle, her eyes flashing to the restaurant scene behind her before turning back on Maddox. "If you mean Nick, he's not working today.".

If Maddox said no part of him expected the Kappa not to be there, he'd be lying. In fact, a good percentage of him imagined he wouldn't be, which was probably a big part of why he'd chosen to come by precisely on this day. And then there was the part of him that told him to leave with an "oh well, you tried" ans a pat on the back, but that just wasn't good enough. "Do me a huge favor? When he does come in, give him this for me." The small girl took a moment to eye the piece of paper she had just been given, a curious smile taking over her features. "Will do"

So maybe his plan hadn't been as successful as he'd hoped, but Maddox would be fibbing if he said he wasn't glad that it didn't. At the very least, he could check something off of his to-do list for the day and head back to the house. Most of the sophomores had probably arrived by now, Nathan included. He took a moment behind the steering wheel, while the car engine was still turned off, to reply to the messages that had come in before taking the route back to the Beta residence.

"I can drive you to the airport, you know. It's not that big of a deal," Nick insisted as he lowered his venti vanilla sweet cream cold brew from the Starbucks on campus. His Dad only shook his head with a small smile on his aging face. "I'm getting old, but I'm capable of taking an Uber to the airport by myself, Nicky," he stated and Nick rolled his eyes at the slight, ready to insist again when his father put up a hand and added, "Stop worrying about me." They both knew that was going to be an impossible feat.

Though they had lost Joanna pretty much six years ago, Nick still felt the residual pressure of having to look after everyone on his shoulders, even when his father told him to just worry about his own schooling and preparing for his own future. Being selfish or simply worrying about himself had never been an option, not when his father had lost his parent in everything that counted. While Jenny still tried helping out amidst her own goals of becoming a lawyer, Nick had taken the brunt of mostly everything; he helped at the clinic when his father needed an extra hand to take care of patients and collecting co-payments when the other nurse was busy making sure referrals and other paperwork were processed, Nick cooked at home for both of his siblings, and to an extent, he pretty much took care of their youngest girl, Gigi, until he went off to college. And with it becoming more and more noticeable that their Dad was getting older - to the point that no one could deny that little bit of truth - Nick had reason to be concerned. Jenny would always visit in his stead, but he knew how both Gigi and Lou could be. The former was the classic teenage girl except she was a touch more demanding and spoiled, and unable to allow anyone to tell her to do for herself without insisting that she was being mistreated. To this day, Nick isn't sure if that was his doing or Jennifer's.

"Just...call me when you land," he instructed and watched in mock annoyance as the older man proved that he had the more childish eye roll down followed by a marked bitch face. It almost put Gigi's to shame. "I'm serious, Dad. I'll Facetime Gigi to make sure she gets her summer work done tonight before she goes out to any party." His Dad chuckled before inquiring, "You sure you're not the Dad here?" Nick lightly punched his arm as the Ford Explorer pulled up; it was a surprising choice for one person, but Nick wasn't going to complain. "You just get in that damn car and don't miss your flight because you fell asleep while it was boarding again." The two shared a small laugh at that and afterwards embraced with the promise of them both taking care of themselves. Once Nick had seen the car drive away from campus, he took a long drink of his caffeinated beverage and pulled his phone back out. He rolled his eyes at the conversation with Deanna on the walk to the gates with his Dad, opting to look at what he had received from Harry. He also thought to check in on Cornelius since he hadn't had the time to go see if his Little had returned to campus yet.

"Yes, Sir. I'll talk to you later. Tell mother that I love her." Cornelius muttered on the phone as he ended the conversation with his father. A soft sigh escaped over his lips as he knew exactly what he was doing by spiting his father and joined one of the best fraternities on campus, Kappa Alpha. Today was move in day for just about everyone and that's exactly what he was doing right about now as he slung his bag over his shoulder then picked up a small box with his smaller belongings placed inside. With a turn of his heel, he started to waltz towards the Kappa Alpha house though in order to get there, he had to pass by the Sigmas household then made a note to text his buddies, Jax and Khari, later on to see what they were up to. But for right now, many people that he passed eyed him flirtatiously and he could not help but to return the flirtatious glares. Cornelius even stopped to have a conversation or two with people that made him stop, just to say hey and nothing too serious.

After walking a few more steps, he was finally inside of the Kappa Alpha house and immediately went up to his room and just threw his belongings onto his bed. While he wanted to get ready and set his room up, he heard a few voices downstairs and decided to see who was already present within the house. Cornelius turned the corner that led into the kitchen and saw the president of the chapter, Harry, sitting on the counter and saw another member of the fraternity present, as well. "Dude. Some of us prepare our meals there." Cornelius said with a laughter following those words as he stood beside him now. "Anyways, how have you been, man? Anything new with you?" Cornelius asked as he went over towards the fridge and grabbed himself a bottled water then took a small sip from it. He felt his phone vibrate inside of his pocket and heard it chime as he sat his bottled water down onto the counter beside Harry and pulled his phone out of his pocket, seeing it was Nick sending him a text to see if he needed anything.

To: Nick <3
Where was this message at whenever I needed help with my luggage?! lol

But no, I'm good, stud. Just get your sexy ass here! :D

Cornelius sent the text with a smile as he loved to tease Nick and flirt with him constantly. It was not for attraction purposes though, it was simply just to get underneath his skin a little bit. While he had his phone in hand, he decided to send out a few more texts towards people.

To: AJ :)
Dude, where are you? Need help with your luggage or something?

To: Maddox
Gym later? Not that we really need it but just an excuse to see you.

To: Jax & Khari
What's up, fellas? Will it be safe for me to visit the Sigma house soon? lol

He sent out those messages but there was one in particular that was he was definitely going to send out. It was one towards Katiana and he could not wait to see her sometime today or later that night. But her message was going to be the last one that he sent out since he had to give his fingers a little bit of a rest right about now.

To: Kat <3 :D
Hey there. You on campus yet?

To : Mama Kori <3 ( Korinna )
Unless you count me for getting almost arrested over the summer, then there's nothing to worry about :D

To : The Guy I Was Assigned To By Fulton ( Harry )
Yeah, bout to head out for Fulton any minute now. See you at the house?

To : Princely Charming ( Nate )
Yo, how was your summer Charming? Haven't seen you in a little. When you're not hanging with the Fresh Douches of Fulton (and I say that lovingly) we should get some coffee or tea.

All in all, Arden probably shouldn't have told Korinna he almost got arrested. It wasn't his fault, more like his friend Alex's fault. But that's a story for later. The brunet looked at himself in the mirror, dressed in nothing but Scooby-Doo pajama bottoms, and his beanie, he would shrug and walk downstairs to see his father before getting ready. Walking downstairs he could hear his father talking on the phone to someone....his mother he guessed. "Listen Amelia, I already told you Arden doesn't want to speak to you. You have another child to daunt and bicker over, you don't need the one you almost ruined," yeah definitely his mom. He shrugged, his father wasn't exactly wrong.

Arden and his mother didn't see eye-to-eye on several things. One thing being, Arden wasn't fond of her just moving on to a new family like it was nothing. Sure, he got over it, but he didn't have to like it. She made big deals about his younger half-sister,
Rebecca, and made time for her. So he was a tad bit jealous.

Clearing his throat his father saw him now standing by him and hung up the phone. "You wearing that to your first day of your sophomore year? Not judging, just asking," the older man asked with a laugh. Arden shrugged, it wasn't exactly unlike
him to do such a thing. But he stared at his father and spoke. "Um, nah, I have an outfit planned out. What Amelia want?," he would turn to the cabinets and get a box of cereal down. Pouring himself a bowl, without milk. He despised it. Eating his dry cereal his father, laughed and walked away getting his things ready for work. The twenty-year-old waved a goodbye with a full mouth and finished his cereal.

To : Corn Dog ( Cornelius )
So....uh Kori might kill me. If I die, my favorite beanie goes to you <3. See you at the house. And nah, I'll be there in a few.

After sending the quick text to Cornelius, he walked back upstairs and would proceed to get read. Getting dressed, he would put his beanie of the hair he should have brushed, but chose not to. Grabbing the keys to his own vehicle, and sat down in the driver's seat. Starting it, he would begin to drive to Fulton, playing a song at the loudest volume. As he did he would begin to sing. "So I'm sorry to my unknown lover. Sorry that I can't believe that anybody ever really, starts to fall in love with me." As Halsey's song played on, his mind lingered on a fling from last year, Maddox. Despite how angry the male had made Arden, he held this soft spot from him. Not deleting his phone number, he would silently ignore his urge to text the male and pull into the Fulton University parking lot.

The energy around here had been crazy, taking his two suitcases, his guitar case, and his laptop bag, he would walk to the Kappa house, not a very far walk from where he parked. Walking up to the door he'd open it and scream.

"I'm home bitches!"

Nick honestly shouldn't be surprised when he received responses like the one he just did from CJ, but he couldn't help the way he almost choked on another sip of coffee, effectively catching a little bit of attention when he stopped in the middle of the walkway. Sputtering out an excuse to a passing classmate he remembered from a lab from last year that currently wanted to help, Nick had to clear his throat, cheeks tinted pink, before managing to send out a response to CJ. The flirting had never been anything serious because it would more than likely make being a Big and a Little one hell of an awkward situation, but it never failed to get a reaction out of Nick. And apparently always the ones CJ wanted if the triumph on the guy's face every single time said something. It was only half exasperating, more amusing than anything else.

To: CJ
Srsly? Im gonna have gray hairs b4 i leave here cuz of ur flirty ass. omw

It didn't take long for Nick to return to the Kappa house with the brisk pace he took, and he climbed up the stairs and into the house just in time for Arden's rather enthusiastic announcement. "Well, that's one way to do it," Nick remarked and patted the sophomore on the shoulder with a welcoming smile. "Probably gonna order out tonight if Harry doesn't mother bear everyone, so figure out what you want to eat." They hadn't really talked it through just yet, which was why Nick was headed into the kitchen anyway to look up what menus they still had at the house and weren't thrown away upon renovation, but he figured that no one wanted to eat in the school's cafeteria on the first night. Yes, it was open and yes, it was convenient. But this was also their first night back and it deserved something better than cafeteria food. Nick wasn't against cooking anything since it would be one of the few times during the school year that he would actually have the time to help out, and not have to dip on them, but it would mean that he and Harry would have to go grocery shopping. Which would need to get done now while everyone was still in the process of moving in.

Harry was still in the kitchen when Nick entered it and Nick's smile was bigger, brighter when he saw his best friend. "Hey, man," he greeted, not hesitating to pull the fellow senior into a hug. Soon enough, though too soon if you let his mind tell the story, but Nick squashed that uncomfortable voice down - he was pulling away and rummaging through one of the drawers beside Harry's leg. "So I was thinking we either cook tonight for the guys or order out. We still got the menus from last year? Or do we need to just go ahead and hit up Krogers?"

"Okay, but what's not 'bout to happen is y'all shit stayin' in the middle of the hallway like this," Deanna snapped as she maneuvered through the halls. Boxes were in the hallway along with various other items and she had half the mind to kick over the obviously Ikea-bought chair, but side-stepped it. "Let ya shit still be in my way come tomorrow and I'm throwin' shits away." She was pretty sure there was someone who said "fuck you" amidst the laughs - why they were laughing when Deanna was dead fucking serious was beyond her, but she'd fix them tomorrow and see who was laughing then - so she didn't hesitate to stretch her arms out, as she headed to the stairs, and exclaim playfully, "Name the time and place boo." She was also pretty sure that the tiny decorative pillow that hit the wall above her head before tumbling down the steps was directed at her as well, but Dee didn't care. She was more than likely going to steal it, if it was still at the bottom of the staircase later, and dare someone to come try to take it back.

Sadly, all of those earlier actions resulted in her not being as stealthy as she wanted to be upon entering the kitchen and seeing Alea distractedly putting food away. At least, Dee had thought the girl had been distracted until Alea whirled on her. "But Leeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaa," Deanna whined, effectively turning from a woman in her twenties into a rather tall two year old, lower lip poked out and everything. She had pulled her lollipop out of her mouth before she entered the kitchen. "They're Miami plantains. You and I both know there's a difference between Miami plantains and island plantains." That wasn't exactly true. Sentiments demanded that she believe that plantains grown on their homelands were better than the ones in the states, but out of all of the states for plantains to be bought, Miami was the best. They had really good ones, sweet and non-sweet. Yet and still, Deanna pretended to sulk, sticking her candy back in her mouth all sullenly even as she accepted the big hug her fellow Zeta gave her. Obviously, the face wasn't going to work at all since Alea was going back to putting food away, so Deanna only grinned at the inquiry about LA and hopped up onto one of the empty counters. "Amazing," she insisted around a mouthful of lollipop, gave a prompt suck so that she could swallow of the juicy deliciousness, and then pulled it out to better talk. "Definitely better waves, awesome vibes, and honestly better everything cuz a bitch's hair is out here growin' and ish," she added with a glide of her fingers through her shoulder-length hair paired with an arrogant grin. Before she could follow up with information about the internship or even ask about Alea's summer, both of their phones went off and Deanna was too lazy to reach into her pocket at the moment, so it was probably luck that it was Khari texting all of them, Deanna and Alea included. Dee rolled her eyes the second Alea told her and grudgingly pulled it out only to see Lea's response in their group chat, and laughed. "Daaaaaayyyuuuummm son." She chuckled as she also text him back.

To: Khari
We dont luv dese heuxes ;D

As she grinned at her own response for him and slid her phone back into its place, Alea was rummaging through one of the bags and Deanna perked up, sliding her lollipop back in her mouth to further enjoy it. To be quite honest, she had half the mind to get more coffee, but the candy was a pretty decent substitute and it was sweeter. Of course, all thoughts of candy and coffee were literally dumped from her brain the second Alea turned around. Not because Deanna couldn't shades and a bracelet anywhere, really. She liked them so much because Deanna just liked presents. She didn't get them often, only for Christmas really. So, whenever she received a gift, it brought a genuine smile to her face, much like the one she gave Alea. "Whaaaaattt? Of course I like 'em, boo. I'm 'bout to be cute," she declared and delicately took both from the girl, hugging her real quick so that she can actually put the glasses on.

"I missed you too."Annabelle let the scent of cocoa butter fill her nose as she hugged Katiana before she pulled away. No amount of texting and Skype calls could make up for actually being next to her friend again. She turned to see Aja stood by them. She remembered Katiana talking about her family a lot in freshman year, her sister especially. It was good to finally put a face to a name. Before she could say 'hi' to Aja, Kat was pointing her attention over to her dad. Annabelle turned her head, her lips curling into a polite smile as she waved to Mr. Brokenborough.

Annabelle turned back to Aja. She could see the similarity between her and Katiana, more in the way they stood and the drive in their eyes. The way the light reflected off Aja's cheekbones had Annabelle itching to get hold of her pencils and start sketching again. Annabelle held out her hand to Aja. "Nice to meet you. Kat told me a lot about you. Feels like I already know you." Annabelle stopped talking, she could herself beginning to babble. She always babbled around pretty people. Lord knew there were plenty of people who could attest to that. Sometimes it felt like the entire student population of Fulton had been pulled out of a modelling agency's books.

There was a scuffle at the door. Annabelle turned to see her dad carrying the entire contents of the car through the door. "And that's my dad. I'll be back in a second. Nice meeting you," she added to Aja as she jogged over to her dad and took some of the bags from him.

Harry checked the messagge on his phone, chuckling to himself at Nick's response. James was definitely an oddball, but then could anyone in Kappa really say they were normal? College did crazy things to people. "Dude. Some of us prepare our meals there." Harry looked up from his phone, his face a picture of innocence. He was trying so hard not to crack a smile at Cornelius.

"These are clean on today."

"Anyways, how have you been, man? Anything new with you?"

Harry let out a small laugh. "Well, one of the kids at the health center has a crush on me. I think her mom does too." Harry shrugged and took a sip of his coffee. "She's only human. Anyway, how you been since I last saw you?"

"I'm home bitches!"

Harry looked up and made a happy noise as he realised who's voice that was. "And here I thought he would never come back," he muttered. Arden was distant at the best of times, more so than Harry could be. That was probably why Brendon, their previous president, had chosen Harry to keep an eye on the sophomore. Before he could say anything else, Nick's arms were around him. Harry returned the hug with equal enthusiasm. "Hey."

Nick pulled away and began rummaging in the drawer next to him. Harry watched with idle curiousity. "So I was thinking we either cook tonight for the guys or order out. We still got the menus from last year? Or do we need to just go ahead and hit up Krogers?"

"Next draw down, big guy. And it's the first night back, we can cook another day. I have presidenty things to plan, like getting a new coffee machine." He clapped Nick's shoulder. He had missed Nick. Living in a different state to his best friend absolutely sucked. He slid down from the counter and drained the last of his coffee before jumping onto Nick's back. "Arden! Your room's opposite mine. James, yours is down the hallway, everyone else, I can't be expected to remember everything." Harry squeezed Nick's shoulder. "Don't ever leave me again." He was being silly, he knew that, but he had genuinely missed Nick, more so than he had missed Maddox.

Katrina crossed her legs, tucking her foot behind her calf. She smiled as Abigail came into the room. "Hey." Her phone buzzed beside her on the bed.

"Seems like we're the first ones here. I wonder where everyone else is, honestly."

"It's the first day Dessie." Katrina wriggled along the matress and patted the spot next to her for Abigail to sit down. "I wouldn't worry too much. The interesting people are already here." Katrina held up her phone and opened the camera. "Smile!" Kat snapped a picture of the two of them. She checked the picture. "How have I never taken a bad picture of you? You're, like, flawless. I'm posting this."

Katrina tapped her thumbs against the screen. The picture of the two of them was uploaded to Kat's Instagram.

It never failed that somehow or another Annabelle smelled like the combination of rich ground coffee beans and mint, an odd combination considering the underlying earthiness that came from the minty scent of her usual tea, but the redhead artist drank so much of both that they seemed to seep from her pores. It was the thing that greeted Kat the second they had embraced, and she was beaming when she pulled away, Annabelle acknowledging Aja. Her smile, crazy as enough, only widened at Scarlett's arrival. Kat eagerly returned the embrace, wiggling her fingers in parting as Scarlett went to help her Little up to the room. Scarlett wasn't Katiana's big, which was probably for the better only because Kat wouldn't have known what to do if her big sister happened to be the president of the organization. That just sounded like a lot of pressure and expectations she wasn't even sure she would be able to live up to, and Kat had too much on her plate for all of that.

"Yo, kiddo," Aja called, at some point having moved to their Dad when gestured over. Kat gathered the two plates she had made and walked over, noting her father's put out expression. "The giant five year old here and I better start heading out if we don't wanna get back home too late. Are you going to be good?" Kat smirked at the question. "Pretty sure I told y'all both to get going earlier, but y'all wanted to stay," she replied and Aja punched her arm before embracing her with a tight squeeze that Kat's still somewhat sore muscles protested. She winced in response, but let herself be hugged, still smirking when her sister pulled away. "Don't overdo it this year," Aja said, giving her another firm, telling squeeze that made Kat wince in more than just pain. "I'll try." Was her quieter response. Aja had been the only one in her family Kat had told of last year's events and it still felt like the main reason why her big sister had wanted to take off of work and be a part of Katiana's move-in. Being able to decorate her room in whatever acceptable way that didn't make Kat gag was just a bonus. Kat was minutely grateful that she hadn't seen Nathan at all since being back.

After her father's own parting hug and words, Kat settled on one of the small sofas, Annabelle's plate on the coffee table in front of her as Kat tucked into her own food, finally taking the time to look at the notifications on her phone. Other than an early morning conditioning reminder from the dance team captain and a few dancers lamenting that if they didn't love dancing they probably would quit while they were ahead, Kat found herself smiling at Cornelius' text, but beaming for absolutely no reason at Jake's saying that he would be there. She had honestly surprised herself by becoming interested in CJ last year, though Kat was still wary about calling it anything other than a base level attraction. They were friends, pretty damn good friends. And in all honesty, she needed those. She also couldn't deny that she was intrigued by the idea of them, especially because she just saw Cornelius as so good, and safe. Because Jake wasn't. After everything that had happened with Nathan, and honestly just re-solidifying that Jake was her number one best friend in the entire world, Kat was also reminded why she had been so adamant about originally making it work with Nate. Having feelings that didn't want to go away for your best friend was no joke. It made you do things like grin stupidly in a room filled with people you really should be socializing with, knowing damn well they didn't see you in the same light. That was definitely far from safe.

Nick rolled his eyes good-naturedly at Harry being still hung up on the idea of them getting a coffee maker. It probably was a great idea, especially because it would save Nick the money he spent on Starbucks. Honestly, it was a great idea now that he actually thought about it. Before coming to Fulton, Nick had actually worked at Starbucks and it was his first job at Fulton freshman year. In truth, he probably - if they got all the syrups or creamers - make drinks on the same level as Starbucks. It had just always seemed easier, especially because he was usually on the go, to just stop by the store really quick since the baristas knew his order very well and keep it pushing. Less hassle and Nick always went earlier enough that he missed the eight am flow. That was always hell and he had learned his lesson sophomore year when the longevity of his lab classes increased and he needed more coffee in order to not look like the zombie he felt like.

"Sounds lazy, but your call," he stated teasingly with a grin, going to the drawer Harry specified to get them all out. Steve's pizza was the first one he saw as it was a classic, but Nick preferred actually being there. There was an actual arcade and it had an old-timey, hipster-ish feel to it that had to be enjoyed upfront, not over the phone. But he put that menu on the counter along with both the Chinese and Italian places they frequented. He was about to see if they still had the menu for the Ethipioan place because even though delivery wasn't something the restaurant did frequently, the last Kappa president had been charming enough to get them forever delivery and that was something Nick was never going to pass up on. However, before he could say another word, Harry had thrown himself on Nick without warning and Nick sputtered out a "Sh-shit!" as he hurried to actually steady himself and support his crazy ass best friend. "What are we? Five?" He complained, though he didn't exactly move to push Harry off. Nick wouldn't call himself the most fit person in their house, but he still did some physical activity. If it wasn't carrying crates of alcohol, it had something to do with the serving trays of food or the tennis he tried partaking in. Of course, none of that seemed to matter when Harry gave him a firm squeeze and told him never to leave him, which was playful - obviously it was playful. But that thought alone had not been enough to stop his heart from fluttering like an idiot in his chest and the grin on his face from widening the way that it had. "Yeah, yeah, sure. Just help me figure out what we're eating tonight," he said, thankful that his breath didn't hitch at the first word past his lips.

To : Mama Kori <3 ( Korinna )
Uhhhh, I'll buy you coffee and explain it to you. Long story. Not really. I got in trouble for getting in a fight at the supermarket. Dude was asking for it though, he kept snickering at me. So I had to. Sowwwiie.

Looking away his phone to receive C.J's hug he laughed. About to answer and being pushed aside, he would make a fake noise of jealousy and look for his big, Harry. Now, they hadn't been very close over his freshman year. But they got better, and Arden accepted Harry as his big, as long as coffee was provided by the man. His eyes a shade of blue currently, he would smile towards his big.

"Ehh, truth be told, I missed you guys. AND WAIT! We're getting a new coffee maker!? YES. I LOOOOOOOOOVE YOU HARRRRRRRRRRY," drawing out the r in Harry's name, yell from the kitchen in glee. Now, anyone in the house knew, of Arden's very very unhealthy relationship with coffee. It seemed to be all he drank, and sometimes he'd be a little wired. Making a small groaning sound, he would unenthusiastically accept his room being across from Harry's. In truth it made him feel safer, but....he couldn't let them know that. "I vote for pizza, it's a fundamental and all-around healthy food item. Introducing all the basic food groups, in one convenient dish.

He also loved greasy food. Moving to the entrance area, and taking his few bags to his room he collapsed on his bed. Sending a few quick text messages to a few people he hadn't gotten a chance to earlier.

Hey, you on campus? How was your summer broski.

"What are we? Five?"

Over Nick's shoulder, Harry looked down at the menus, smiling to himself at Nick's reaction. Harry wasn't usually one to let people in easily, but he and Nick had been best friends from the go. There was something about Nick that invited confidence. As the song went, friends come and go, but there are a precious few you should hold on to or something like that at the very least. Nick definitely fell into that category and Harry definitely didn't remember song lyrics with crystal clarity. But he could reel off all twenty-seven bones in the human hand, and that was far more useful.

"I vote for pizza, it's a fundamental and all-around healthy food item. Introducing all the basic food groups, in one convenient dish."

Harry slid down from Nick's back. "The medical student in me is compelled to tell you that's horseshit kid, but pizza does make a tempting argument. I vote pizza."

The boys who were hanging out downstairs were more than happy to have a pizza night. "You good with pizza, Nick?"

"Hm, mines wasn't as interesting as yours but it was good. I did not do anything exciting for real. Been saving that for this year."

Katrina tilted her head, listening to Abigail. She wasn't entirely used to having a friend that couldn't just hop on a jet to wherever they wanted, whenever they pleased. How terribly dull that must be she thought."So, I'm going to get my luggage with the help of Maddox and Nate. You going to be okay by yourself?" Katrina started slightly as Abigail clicked her fingers. "Or you could come with me and tell me about your Sigma situation in detail."

Katrina frowned, a pout tugging her lips down. Abigail was the only one of her sisters that Katrina had confided her small issue to. She wasn't sure how the others would react to the confession that she was more than slightly involved with the Sigma President. "There's really not that much to tell." Katrina slid her heels off and traded them for a more practical pair of flats. Rolling her ankle was not how Katrina wanted to start the semester.

She caught up with Abigail. "Ooh." A thought had occurred to her. "We should travel together this summer. Could you imagine how amazing that would be?"

As they walked together, Katrina checked the messages that had come through from her phone. The first, from Jax, almost made her burst out laughing.

From: Jax
No murder today although they deserved it. The only thing I want on my record is stealing your heart. ;)

Katrina shook her head as she typed a response.

To: Jax
Unfortunately for you, there is tight security around my heart. Good luck x

Also, I hope you could hear me rolling my eyes

From: Princess/Eliza
You here yet? My shoes are already killing me

To:Princess/Eliza
Out front helping Abigail move in xx

From: High King of Narnia/Maddox
I hate that I love you, really :P
If I'm nice and help you move in will you stop sending me these weird songs?

To: High King of Narnia/Maddox
Unfortunately I am already moved in. But you can be an angel and help me help Abigail x

Katrina dropped her phone back into her bag and turned to Abigail. "So, thoughts?"

SATURDAY AUGUST 26TH || BACK-TO-SCHOOL BONFIRE || 9:15 PM
The significance of the Fulton University Back-to-School bonfire was that it was originally meant for one to cast into the flames the troubles of the year before; whatever it was that one felt was holding them back, whether it be a relationship they couldn't let go of on their own or anxieties that crippled them academically when all one needed to do was have faith, it needed to be thrown into flames. It was supposed to bring relief and that relief was found in throwing away the jacket an ex gave you or even a bracelet from a friendship you thought would never end. Don't let the alcohol and tomfoolery fool you. It was supposed to mean something and to some, it still does.

Nevertheless, each year the bonfire is hosted at the estate of an undisclosed sponsor - some believe it is an alumna, but until proven otherwise, take advantage of being in a mansion that most won't ever actually afford, #sorrynotsorry - where the beach property is mostly used for celebrations. Students also like to occupy the spacious home as there is a DJ inside, as well as inside, and food. Most have already arrived at this annual festive event filled with drunken hook-ups, wild dancing, tricks and the like while others are still on the way. At the end of the day, though, it's very rare that a night like this doesn't end in a fight or two, especially with the Greek organizations in attendance...

"How the hell did you beat me to my own car?" Nick asked as he approached his 2010 Nissan. It was old and it wasn't the flashiest vehicle on campus, but once his dad signed everything over to him, it became Nick's. And that was enough for him. He thought better of his question and also inquired, "And why the hell are you on top of my car to begin with?"

"Selfies," Deanna stated from her perch atop the hood of the blue car, hand splayed back on the cool metal so that she could look up as she took the pictures. She had originally been on her Instagram story, but decided pics were in order. Dee may have been a bad bitch, according to her, every single day, but there was something about dressing up for events - even the casual ones - that made her feel like being extra. And what better way to be extra than to post a series of pictures of yourself on social media so that everyone else could admire how much of a bad bitch you were? Her bathing suit was pretty simple in comparison to some of the other ones she could've chosen, but the sheer, shimmery material of the over-sized shirt that looked more green under certain lights combined with the shoes she found in California made a not so fabulous look, look absolutely fabulous. She glanced at the dubious look she could feel emanating from Nick and her mouth widened into a childish grin, "Nicky, come and love me!"

Nick side-eyed her for a second, but easily walked over while retorting sarcastically, "Pretty sure I'm the wrong gender to do your type of loving." Deanna gave a mock-outraged glare. "Fuck you!" Nick snorted. "Wrong gender for that too." He narrowly missed the careless upward swipe of her leg at him, a botched attempt at a kick that she remedied only by snatching him against her before smacking him on the back of the head. "This is why I can't stand yo ass. Just take the damn picture with me." Two seconds later and the flash went off, and Nick was able to relax in the space formed between Deanna's legs, leaning back against her as she used his back to type out whatever it was that she thought was a necessary caption to go with her post. Nick wasn't really big for social media, but considering Deanna's current profession and what her future would more than likely entail, it was no surprise that she was posting so frequently. It was like another job for her. She had to keep up appearances. And Nick, more times than he liked to admit, always wound up being sucked into it despite being the notably camera shy one between the two of them. Not that Deanna cared. She somehow snatched several pictures of him without him knowing she had taken them until he received a notification from whichever social media site she decided to use for that day, and threatened to terminate their friendship if she didn't take down the most unflattering ones.

Nick swore that all of them were unflattering, so Deanna promptly started ignoring him.

"Text ya boyfriend and see if he's ridin' with us or not," Deanna said, scrolling through her timeline for a minute before she realized that there were text notifications. A few were from her sorority sisters and one from River, which made her lips curve into a smirk. Nick's eyebrows shot up at her, though she couldn't see. "What are you - ? I don't have a - " It took him only a second later to realize it and Nick's face heated once it hit him. "Harry's not my boyfriend. He's my friend." Deanna rolled her eyes, unimpressed. "Baby, he better be somethin' witchu sighin' and shit all summer." Nick looked mighty affronted, even as he pulled out his phone. "I did not sigh."

He totally sighed.

Deanna obviously didn't look like she believed him, which she had every reason to look like. Nick sighed (shit) and shook his head as he text Harry as instructed, saying, "I-it's not even like that and you know it. Harry doesn't - he wouldn't." Deanna promptly replied, singing, "Not gonna know if he would if ya don't ask." Nick grumbled that he wasn't asking her as the text was sent, just as Deanna sent her own in response to River, and then to Kory like a good little Zeta appeasing her mama Zeta.

To: Asshole

Morning yoga for Scarlett was about as essential as coffee is for Finals Week. She started out every morning in the backyard of the Theta house. Sometimes the girls would join her and it'd be like an impromptu yoga class, but it was great for building moral among the girls. The girls always said that her little yoga sessions helped build positive vibes in the house so Scarlett saw no reason to stop. Little moments like these were precious to Scarlett, especially know that she's a senior. Soon, she'd be passing the baton to the next President. While graduating and med school was exciting, she would miss her time in the Theta house. It was like a second home to her and she wanted the next President to make it feel the same.

The rest of Scarlett's day was filled with checking in on the new members and helping some of the new girls choose an outfit for the bonfire tonight. The Theta's reputation on campus is a great one, but when a party comes around, most people expect the Thetas to stay locked in their house, studying and preparing for tests. Some girls do do that, but the Theta girls can enjoy a party just as well as the other sororities. A few girls needed advice on what looked good and if wearing a swimsuit with a cover-up was okay. It was naturally and Scarlett did her best to ease any anxiety among her new sisters. It wasn't until seven when she finally got to get ready herself. Scarlett did decide to wear a swimsuit under her clothes since it was a beach setting. Her cover-up consisted of a tribal crop top and black maxi skirt. Sandals as footwear since she'd be taking them off by the end of the night. To top it off, Scarlett kept her makeup simple and sweet. She smiled as she looked in the mirror. Tonight would be a night of fun and no drama. A sudden chirp from her phone distracted Scarlett from her positive thoughts. Speaking of drama, Scarlett sighed at the text from River. It wasn't as if he was a terrible person, but the idea of him didn't feel right. He was one of Jax's good friends and known for devious behavior. Even though her brain said don't respond, Scarlett typed out a response and sent some of her own texts.

To: Trouble / River
I'll be there! See ya there?

To: STUDY BUDDY <3 / Nari
Wanna meet up at the bonfire? I need my best girl!

To: Second Best Doctor / Harry
Ready to party like we just finished a twenty hour surgery? lol

To: Brother from Another Mother / Nick
I better see you at the bonfire! Save me a dance <3

Checking herself one last time, Scarlett made her way to her little and her little's roommate's room. She knocked on the door, not wanting to intrude in case they were changing. "Hey girls! Do you need any help getting ready for tonight? Or maybe a ride?"
