Conn is a man of great many words. He’s quite gregarious, open and warm to most people, especially first years. Conn had been a first year one and the terror was something he never forgot. For this reason Conn strives to be a solid safe alternative for the children to turn to if they find themselves in need.
For those who think he’s easy to get over on they will soon come to learn that in addition to kindness he can also be quite fierce. The Irishman hates having to repeat himself and is capable of a quick leap to cold sternness if needed. While a fan of adventure and the obligatory blowing off steam Conn believes there is an appropriate time and place for everything.

Having been a Gryffindor from his time at Hogwarts, Conn is the epitome of everything the house stands for which made him a perfect fit for Aquila House. Conn does his best to foster inter-house ties, a belief that stems from the very real fact that these young witches and wizards will all have to work together one day. Whether you like each other’s houses, families, or faces or not.

Conn is quite inclusive and does his best to be there to answer any student’s question regardless of who they are. He doesn’t stand for rudeness, flightiness or laziness and believes mutual respect is the key to connecting with other people.




Conn Carmichael was born in Galway, Ireland to a witch mother and a muggle father. Being the eldest of three sons, Conn was often saddled with extra responsibility, something that he had quite a knack for. Theirs was a boisterous happy family and the fact that his mother was a witch only meant rare excitement, such as a visit to Diagon Alley. Occasionally his father felt a bit left out but with three growing boys in the house, Conn’s mother could claim the same.

By the time he was eleven his magic had already manifested in quite a few ways and it was time for his magical schooling to begin. Being sent to Hogwarts was terrifying for the young boy who’d never been away from home or his family. It also didn’t help that he’d been raised far more muggle than wizard. Being sorted in Gryffindor was his saving grace and he immediately fell in with his new family. Soon enough he was joined by his brothers and Hogwarts became home.

After graduating with quite high marks he was notified he would be able to continue on his study of potions in an attempt to one day become a potions master. It was something that had been his goal since he started school. After years of rigorous training, three failed relationships and a flirtation with alcoholism, Conn earned the right to be a potions master. Soon after that he realized he was sorely in need of change and while the idea of teaching at Hogwarts had been his ultimate goal he instead sought employment at the Gaol Academy. Conn had never been to America and he was more than ready to leave Britain behind him.

Conn has been the potions master for Gaol Academy the last five years and finds it just as fulfilling and gratifying now as he did his first day.
