Image✖ Physical Description/Clothing Preference ✖:

Body type|| Hakon is often questioned and the subject of concern when it comes to his body type. He is thin. Very thin. Almost unhealthily so for a male. While he does eat every once in a while, he often forgets to do so and will graze on food when he does become hungry. Otherwise, he stands at an average 5 foot 9 inches and weighs 135 lbs.

Skin Tone|| Another factor in why people tended to worry about him is his skin tone. He is very pale from the little time he spends in the sun.

Hair|| Unlike most guys his age, he actually keeps his hair quite long. Normally reaching below the waistline, naturally his hair color is a blondish color, but often dyes it a leaf green or a lighter shade of green.

Eye Color|| His eyes are a very vibrant shade of green, he says that sometimes he catches them glowing. Wither this is real or not isn't known, but more than likely not.

Clothing Attire|| Hakon is a very odd individual when it comes to clothing. He normally wears very flowy clothing most of the time, the types of clothing that wouldn't let anyone know that he is male or female. He also often wears very wide brimmed hats as if trying to stay out of the sun.

✖ Birthmark/Piercing/Tattoo/Scar/Noticeable Features ✖:
If you actually get to look at him without his shirt, he has old scars from bruises from beatings. His hands are also covered in scars from harvesting plants, though this doesn't bother him as much as the bruises do.

✖ Gift ✖: Herbology. Hakon is very well versed in the use of plants, herbs and other natural items for mostly medicinal use. Mostly for he does other things with said natural items. He knows how to treat many aliments with the plant life around him, often using what he can find. On the opposite side of this, he also knows how to poison those around him with the same plants and animal parts without leaving a trace. Due to this occupation, he often smells like either the outdoors or incense. In addition to healing, he is also able to make incense to induce a certain feel, or even match a memory of someone to calm them or to terrify them.

✖ Hobbies/Skills ✖:
  • Baking- Although it is a rare occurrence to watch him eat, he does love the art of baked goods and is reletively alright in the craft. Cakes, breads, cookies, muffins, anything that requires an oven and bread like objects, he can possibly make it.
  • Skull painting - This one is probably make many many people all kinds of uncomfortable. Although he is not very good at painting, he does have a love of making dead things beautiful. Normally he goes out into the local forest and finds the skulls of dead animals.
  • Eating - Every once in a while, Hakon will eat. And when he does, he will eat like a demon starved of souls. For such a small thing, he will eat everything put in front of him most of the time. The reserved and nervous will give way to a kid who will fight to the teeth for a piece of sushi.
  • Crafting teas and incense - As per his gift, he does enjoy the long hours in a room filled with natural scents of the various plants, herbs and items he's collected and ground into whatever he needs or wants. The joy in crafting a successful new tea calms him from the outside stresses that plague him.
✖ Personality ✖:
As a first glance, Hakon can be described and a cross between a Cloudcuckoolander and 'that creepy kid in the corner that no one ever talks to'. This means that while he seems emotionally detached to the world. However, he does have emotions. They often get expressed in different ways. Fear, for example, will make him go from having a 'normal' conversation, to making a run for the nearest hiding place and shaking in fear. The stronger the emotion, the 'louder' the expression will be. Due to his past, he has very little self-worth and often keeps to himself even if he wanted to interact with others, often saying that he isn't worthy of having a friend or refusing to come out of his corner.

He also has strange tendencies when he does speak to someone. Sometimes asking an awkward questions and blurting out ponderings, or wandering into places that he really shouldn't be in. His lack of social grace and norms often make this fact even more apparent, those he takes a liking to can often find themselves being leaned upon or touched at the most inappropriate of times or follow them around. Although none of this is in the least malicious as he hadn't really had many friends to begin with.

Where he becomes 'creepy' is when he's working. He almost never leaves his room if he is working on a salve, ointment or what have you. Some of the plants he does work with are also poisonous, but also psychoactive meaning that he has also been in a trance like state for a few hours or until the room airs out. During this, he seems more out of it. Muttering random things that usually make no sence.

Image☢ Likes ☢:
  • Wandering without issue
  • The mass of chaos of stuff that his room tends to be.
  • Watching people trip balls on his tea
  • People who are willing to deal with him as a person
  • The calming effect his incense has on him
  • Good food <---- he will love you forever if you feed him something other than fast food.

☢ Dislikes ☢:
  • Intimacy <-this terrifies him to be blunt giving a handshake is fine, a hug is not ok.
  • Having to wear guy's clothes
  • People getting suspicious of who he actually is.
  • Accidentally poisoning himself
  • Accidentally making himself trip balls
  • Long drawn out arguments that can be solved with a simple solution.

☢ Flaws ☢:
  • Very low self-worth
  • Very little social skills
  • Physically weak
  • Extremely closed off towards people.
  • Very easily misunderstood
  • His English isn't very good, enough to get by though.

☢ Fears ☢:
    • Being called out for being male
    • Animatronics <--anyone would be afraid of these things.
    • Being the subject of a cruel prank
    • Being rejected by someone he calls a friend or loved one
    • Dogs

    ☢Secrets ☢:
    • He keeps his true gender a secret as he fears rejection for being a boy that looks so much like a girl
    • He poisoned his mother and father with foxglove to escape them
    • There are instances where he does snap and go emotionally cold, usually in very stressful times.

Image☢Bio ☢: Hakon was always an odd child from the beginning, though his early home life is something that he has tried to erase entirely.

Born to an emotionally absent mother and a father that viewed him more like a toy rather than a human being, the emotional wounds that developed during this time. While they paid him no heed, often leaving him at home by himself while they left for long periods of time, when he tried to break out on his own or gave his own opinion; he was berated savagely. Told that he was worthless and that he was lucky that they let him live in their home and eat their food. His mother also forced him to wear girls clothing when out in public, though this didn't really do what she intended it to. He actually found that he liked the comfort of girls clothing

As he got older and was able to do more things, he was treated as more of a house servant. Doing most of the cooking, cleaning and and what ever else he was told to do. Including somethings that were...unsavory to say the least. School was another matter all together. He was never acknowledged most of the time. He wasn't made fun of by the general population. But he was thought of as the weird creepy kid that sat in the back. Though he did have one friend through elementary and middle school that he always leaned on. The best of friends up until high-school.

They started to drift apart as their interests started to differ. He had found his calling in the natural world and natural medicine while he started in sports. They only talked once in high school, but it ended with Hakon in tears after being told that he was freak and stripped of his clothing. Shamed for dressing and pretending to be female to gain the acceptance and affection he so desprately craved, he came home to his father crying, but being rebuffed and beaten for showing weakness. That night, something in him cracked. The next morning, his parents died at their respective jobs and Hakon taken into foster care. He lived with a kind pair of foster parents, but the emotional damage had already been done as he kept to himself and only came out to tend to whatever garden was had. His file described him as "too closed off from people" and "Overly obsessed with medicine". However, his foster parents did not bother him, attempting to make the boy as comfortable as comfortable. He had become accustom to telling people that he was female, even though he knew very well that he was male and even passed for one with another foster family.

It was this family he was with that he got the letter and the card from, starting a new life and maybe finally breaking from a lifelong lie.

☢Hospital Mental Evaluation ☢: In regards to his current state, It is safe to say that while he is physically a danger to anyone; his extensive knowlege of plants and animal parts is very much a danger to all. However his exclusion from other his own age and his periodical refusal to eat makes him one to look out for in the event that he falls into either a hunger strike or suicidal depression. Also, his refusal to admit that he is a male unless taken to an extreme degree needs further looking into. For now, the suggestion to have him socially interact with the others is recommended.

☢ Other ☢: Most of the time, he can be seen with This little guy while wandering around. He has no idea what it actually is as he's never played any of the games. That it also smells like what ever incense or tea he's been working with at the time.

So begins...

Anderson Montgomery March

Today was that day. Or night he supposed since it was evening already. Many months of preping and planing would finally come together. whether or not it will bare fruit though, well that was beyond The mans vision. As he sat in his study, the man known as Anderson Montgomery March contemplated just how this batch of students would turn out. It was his third undertaking in The short history of his academy. And to date only five students have ever seemed to survive. wait no that's not the right word, graduate? That was it. Only Five have ever graduated from his enigmatic school. Perhaps the challenge was to hard for most, or maybe he had not made the first few clues in his little game obvious enough? Well regardless, this would be a learning experience for both him and his students.

As he was about to go an yet another extensively long train of thought there was a knock on the door. Anderson casually righted himself and his appearance before addressing the situation. "You may come in." The door opened and a rather tall, thin man in his later years entered the room. The man bowed formally before speaking. "The children will be arriving in their limo's as we speak master. Unfortunately it appears we might not be seeing a few of them for A few days due to travel delays." Anderson looked over his glasses at his old friend and gave a soft smile. " Some things cannot be helped i suppose. Thank you Joseph, please have them shown to their rooms then brought to the dinning room for dinner. Its going to be a very interesting year." The headmaster turned in his chair to gaze out at the night sky. Joseph spoke up. "As you wish sir." The butler paused a moment before speaking again. "Do you believe these children will last longer then a year? Anderson paused and thought for a moment on this. "Yes . . . I do in fact. I have this feeling about this batch. Things will be different this time around old friend." Joseph bowed again and exited the study, off to greet the new students to Gifted Academy. Mr.March sat there, staring out at the stars in the sky. A smile slowly growing on his lips. "Yes, This time things will be much different."

Hakon Astapora Sigrun

"Ze arctic is lit by the Midnight sun. Ze surface of ze moon is lit by ze face of the earth. Zis place too shall be lit by lives sat I could not explain yet."

Hakon installed himself in the back of the limo, watching the world go by as they drove along the road to what would become his new home and school. His eyes glazed over as he said his ponder with a voice as flat and lifeless as a cold, dead fish. After all, he knew he would be a fish out of water in this place. As all places he would find himself against the tide of socialization and mingling with other persons. Other people with a special talent like him. Or rather. Her.

For the last few years, this boy had been hiding as a female. Living a lie that gave him comfort in the face of people. A lie that have been popped one too many times in his home country. Here, Only time would tell if anyone even noticed, a notion that comforted him somewhat. At the very least, these were people he didn't know and could observe from a distance for the time being.

"Ms. Sigrun. We've arrived."

His lifeless gaze out the window broke as he turned back to the driver. Dead eyes changing into those of slight apprehension and excitement. As the limbo pulled up in front the house, he gathered his pack and plush shiny gliscor before popping his head out of the door and slinking over to the trunk for his suitcase. The scent that came out of the limo itself smelled of a holy temple. Myrrh, frankincense, Sandalwood were among what could be picked out, the rest mixed into a concoction that could sooth the wildest of beasts.

He nodded at the driver as he lugged the two suitcases, both large and one sounding like he had a treasure hoard in it as he made a hurry to catch up to a boy who's hat reminded him of the leopard skins in a hunter's trophy den.

"Oh here is one now. Mr.-"

"Ms. Sorry. Everyone gets that vong." Hakon leaned against one of his suitcases, winded by the heaviness of them and cursing himself for packing so much stuff. "My name is Astapora Sigrun. he took another breath, catching the air that he lost.

"Ah yes, the High priestess I believe?" Hakon turned toward his satchel, pulling out the card and showing the butler the image as he shook his head, flinging his hair around slightly.

"Well, as you may have heard before, I am Joseph D. Wright, the Head Butler of Gifted Academy. Your peers should be here soon."

Hakon nodded in responce as he set the plush on his other suitcase as he plopped himself down on the ground. Seemingly forgetting that the leopard headed male was standing right next to him as he took his breather. "Es ist nicht dunkelsten vor der Morgendämmerung . Es ist eigentlich dunkelsten nach alle Sterne erloschen sind. Es ist dann sehr dunkel.* He said to himself as he grabbed the plush and started to pet it like a long loved pet.

Translations:
*It’s not darkest before the dawn. It’s actually darkest after all the stars have gone out. It’s very dark then.

Makoto's eyes snapped open. Lethargically, he yawned, stretched, and sat up. The, "fasten your seatbelts sign," was on, and the plane appeared to be making its decent. Makoto rubbed his eyes before allowing his elbow to sit upon the armrest, and his chin upon the palm of his hand. Dreamily, as if still somewhat asleep, Makoto sighed. "'Bout damn time..."

Otherwise, Makoto disembarked without a fuss. He waited for, what seemed to be, a small eternity as a woman shepherded her three children off of the plane, and once again as an elderly man had to be woken up in front of him. All the while, Makoto simply smiled patiently. He didn't care how long it took. In fact, he welcomed the delay. According to their captain, their flight had experienced an unexpected tailwind, allowing them to arrive several hours early. "Well ain't that just peachy." Makoto sighed. What the hell was he supposed to do with himself for three hours? His ride didn't even know he was here yet, and he didn't have any numbers to call. Makoto regarded his useless phone. A simple red flip phone, good for nothing but texting, email, and actually calling someone. Wearily, Makoto flipped it open, smiling at the background. It was him and his siblings. They were soaking wet and wearing their swimsuits. Tsubame, the youngest boy, was making a silly face while riding atop Makoto's shoulders, water balloons in each hand. The Makoto in the picture smiled happily, as if he would rather be nowhere else, doing nothing else. One of the tall, eldest brother's hands was on his younger brother's leg, holding him in place. The other was wrapped around his younger sister's waist as she squirmed, trying her hardest to free herself from her older brother's grasp, and all of them were being sprayed quite thoroughly by their grandmother, who was holding the garden hose. Smiling, Makoto flipped the phone shut, and slid it back into his pocket.

As Makoto was processed through customs, he puzzled over his current situation. Here he was, in a foreign country, that, fortunately, spoke English. He was far away from home, from his father, and from his enemies at school, so he could what? Go to school? If it were a few years earlier, Makoto would have been all too happy to be here. He would've just laughed from the absurdity of it all. Now, Makoto felt regret. He was needed at home. Not only to look after his siblings, but to take care of his grandmother. Even his modest income as a part time instructor at a local dojo was needed by the small family. Now here he was. All Makoto had with him were his two bags, a key, and a mysterious card. As he walked towards the front gate, Makoto couldn't help but stare at it. The top was marked with an, "X" and three, "I's." Makoto had paid enough attention in school to know those were roman numerals, and they stood for the letter thirteen. On the card was a skeletal warrior astride a black horse. He carried a halberd, a wicked looking ax with a spike on top of a long pole-arm. The sky above him was grey, and women, children, even kings, bowed before him. The only thing to identify this ghostly warrior was a single word, written at the bottom of the card. It was the only thing all creatures bowed to: "Death." Shuddering, Makoto looked up, and found a bench to sit at while he waited for his ride.

As he sat, he noticed, to the right of him, a scuffle was beginning to form. Glancing up from the card in his hands, Makoto looked towards the direction of the noise, scowling. It was a couple of garishly dressed tourists berating some poor local woman. Within just a few seconds, Makoto knew. He'd seen that look before. The look in the eyes of a delinquent who thinks the whole world is his prey. Makoto only sighed, slumping back onto the bench as the tourists became louder and louder, and the woman backed ever closer to Makoto's bench. It wasn't his problem. Makoto had given up on that life. He was here for himself, not to defend some glasses-sporting woman in a maid outfit. It was only when she looked at Makoto, her eyes full of anxiety, that Makoto remembered where he'd seen that look before. A tiny ember of rage sparked to life within his belly, and Makoto stood. "Oi!" Makoto shouted, walking over to the woman and standing between her and the thugs that were bothering her. "She ain't interested in yer fugly-ass mugs. Beat it." The idiots, who clearly didn't realize how much trouble they were in, smirked. "Well, well, well boys. Lookie here. We got us a hero. Listen up, asshole. It's us three guys, and only one of you. Scram. In real life, heros like you get killed." Makoto smirked. "Guys? Nah, I don't see any, 'guys.' What I see, are some cowardly-ass, limp-dicked, sad-lookin', dumb fuckin' bitches who need ta gang up on an innocent girl just ta get laid. Tell me, where're these 'guys' yer hidin'? Maybe if they all come out it'll be a fair fight." It took a moment to sink in, but once it had the lead thug's face contorted in rage. "Kill this bitch!"

Makoto lightly pushed the girl he was defending backwards, just enough to get her out of the line of fire. Then, lazily, as if he were bored, Makoto dodged a roundhouse kick, swatted away a few wild hay-makers, and kicked a knife from the hands of one of his attackers. "That all you got?" Makoto jibed, cracking his knuckles. With that, he went to work. Makoto took a modified Muay Thai stance, as if he were boxing. His fists were raised, guarding his face, with his knuckles pointed away from his face. Leaning down ever so slightly, Makoto rushed forward, keeping his profile tightly coiled. Focusing in on the leader, Makoto began with a wicked fast jab, setting his target off balance, then followed up by firing a powerful right cross. Makoto was pretty sure he saw something gold fly out of the man's mouth, but now was not the time to be checking for dental work. With the leader's nose and mouth bleeding and his body staggered, Makoto cocked back his right heel, sending a loaded knee crashing into his victim's chin. The offending thug's eyes rolled back, and he, rather mundanely, collapsed to the ground. Scared, the remaining two thugs backed up. Effortlessly, Makoto stood, jabbing his thumb over his shoulder, universal body language for, "get the hell out of my sight." The witless wonders were only to happy to oblige. Turning, Makoto eyed the woman he'd just saved. "You ok?" He asked simply.

~~~
Wouldn't you know it, Makoto's luck finally turned around, if only a little. Turned out, the woman he'd saved from those seedy looking men was the head maid of the Academy he was to be attending. After showing her his card, she recognized him immediately, she even knew his name. She had been sent to pick him up. With that, she took him to yet another limousine and they were off to the Academy. Makoto spent most of the ride with his head in his hand, staring out the window. It was only when they stopped that Makoto realized where they were. "So this is the place, eh? Thanks fer the ride, miss." Standing, and using the opportunity to stretch, Makoto grabbed his bags, his card still in one hand, and made his way into the Academy, following the maid into the twisting corridors therein. As he waked, Makoto pondered to himself. Supposedly, there would be other students waiting here as well. Makoto wondered what his classmates would be like.
Cassandra lounged in the back of the limo, glancing out of the window at the scenery as it went by in a blur. It had been a couple of hours now since she’d been picked up by the somewhat dour gentleman from the airport, and the journey had been exciting at first but after a few miles of the same thing she had become bored with it. Her eyes flickered down to her sketch book which contained a handful of drawings of trees and buildings and people, including that of the driver. She’d done two of those in fact, planning to hand one to him as a thanks for picking her up. But then again he clearly must be paid for such work she mused as her fingers lightly brushed over the charcoal she’d used to mark out his features from what she could see in the reflection from the rear view mirror.
The light outside was beginning to fade, and despite having slept rather well on the flight had to stifle a yawn as she enjoyed the quickly diminishing sunset. She was contemplating dozing but then again she was worried she’d miss seeing where she’d be spending a unknown amount of time. The realization caused a frown to cross her face, wrinkling her forehead slightly as she muttered to herself. She’d never thought how long she was likely to be at his establishment and that bothered her greatly, since education had never really agreed with her.
Admittedly she was certainly capable of surviving in the real world but the academic side bothered her as it was alien and far too costly as far as she was concerned but the chance for a free place? She’d jumped at the offer and here she was in the back of a limo. Things certainly went up for her lately.
Her reflection was broken by the sound of her driver announcing that they’d be arriving shortly, causing her to look out of the window again in hopes of spying their destination. Her mount opened slightly as she saw the looming buildings as they approached and she felt herself deeply impressed. She pulled her headphones down so they hung around her neck before picking up her blue baker boy hat and putting it on as she gathered up her papers and art tools, sliding them into her holdall backpack.
The limo pulled up at the base of a set of stairs leading up to the expansive mansion she’d seen on not long before but in person it was even larger than she’d gathered from her earlier glimpse and she couldn’t help but feel a little overwhelmed.
“This is a step up from the streets.”
She whispered to herself as she climbed out of the limo, whistling a little to herself before turning and smiling at the driver who’d just opened her door.
“Um, I drew this for you on the way… I got a little bored.”
Smiling warmly, or as best she could she handed him the drawing she’d done while she watched him about an hour earlier and lightly rubbed her neck in slightly embarrassment, but didn’t give any other signs of the nervousness. The man smiled back and took the picture, glancing at it caused his eyes to widen slightly before he carefully folded it and put it in his pocket.
“Thank you Miss, I’ll take your bags up to the house. If you want to proceed first.”
He then tilted his head in a bow before opening the boot of the car and lifting out her large wooden trunk and suitcase with some difficulty and making his way up the stairs towards the house, where a rather thin man in a suit was descending to greet her.
“It is my honour to welcome to the gifted academy, young Miss. It is a pleasure to have you here. My name is Joseph C. Wright, I am the head butler of this household and shall be attending to you and the other students here at our academy. Would you kindly show me your card?”
“Ah yes. I’ve got that here somewhere.”
She’d begun to fidget a little as her mind was tracing out the butler and itching to draw him and the mansion he catered for but she pushed down the urge and reached into her pocket. Her fingers brushed against the key that had come with the card she carefully withdrew which depicted an angelic woman at the reins of a golden chariot pulled by a black horse on the right and white one on the left, underneath which were the words ‘VII - The Chariot’.
“Indeed, the Chariot. You must be our resident artist, Miss Cassandra Valentine. If you’ll come with me, the others are gathering in the front hall first then once you’ve all arrived you’ll be shown to your room to freshen up for dinner this evening. Sadly a few of the students have been delayed so we’ll be starting without them.”
Cassandra followed Joseph in silence, unable to think of anything to say to the man as the grandeur of the place hit her and she tried her best to not panic at the uncertainty of her situation. She’d asked Joseph if it would be possible to have her trunk and suitcase taken directly to her room as she doubted she’d be able to cart them through the halls herself and he assured her things would be taken care of as the driver took them both away leaving her feeling a little lost without her items.
She wondered who the others where and what they all shared to have been invited to a place like this, especially since she was not a fan of her art even if it was apparently worthwhile according to others. Shaking her head she walked through a door that joseph held open for her and was left standing in a room with a few others who she could only assume were to be her classmates.
"Ah! We're finally here!" exclaimed an excited Ruko, acting more like a child than a sixteen year old. She'd spent a long few hours on a plane from Japan. She would have arrived a few hours before, but due to weather conditions her flight had been delayed for a little over an hour. As such, it was already quite dark upon her arrival; evening had already settled in. "Ugh... The jet lag is gonna be the death of me..." the pink-haired female complained. She tiredly made her way to the baggage claim and picked up her belongings, which were surprisingly minimal for someone of her background. All she had brought with her was a guitar in a case, which she had slung over her shoulder, and a single bag of luggage. She brought only what seemed to be essential.
She made her way to Gate D of the terminal, being sure to keep a wide berth around those of the male gender. It was unlucky for her to have had to sit beside some random guy for the entire flight, she couldn't sleep a wink because of it, so she had no intention of spending anymore time near them than she had to. As she passed through the doors, she spotted a sign with her name written on it in large bold letters held up by a butler. She shuddered at the thought of being driven around by a male... though she really had no choice. The ticket she had received alongside her letter, key and card was just a one-way ticket. There was no turning back at this point.
She hustled over to the sign-bearer and stopped a few feet in front of him. "Uhm. Excuse me!" She called, her English definitely needed a little bit of work; her better language was Japanese and lesser ones being English and Latin. "That... Uh, that name on the sign. That's me." She flashed her driver a smile, hoping she didn't seem as nervous as she already was. "Of course. Right this way, Ms. Justitia." The butler said, pasting a smile on his face, as he gestured over to a nearby vehicle. A limo, to be specific. Ruko was a bit concerned with the butler; he had put on a smile, but she could tell that it was fake. Not the kid of fake that someone would use to kidnap someone, but more like he was just fulfilling his job to keep food on the table. Despite that, she couldn't help but smile a bit at the sight of the limo. She had ridden in limos before, but it hadn't been something she'd done for a few years. It was an odd sense of nostalgia. She hopped into her seat, door held open by Mr. Butler, and decided she may as well take this chance to catch up on some well needed sleep.
She woke up, unsure of how much time had passed, to a buzzing sound coming from what appeared to be a sort of intercom system. She pressed the button and heard the familiar voice of her driver. "Ms. Justitia, we will be arriving at the academy shortly." She glanced out the window and, to her surprise, was shocked at the scene she saw before her. Granted, the sight was very dark and hard to see, but she could just barely make out the outline of what appeared to be a forest. "Mirificum..." She mumbled, half asleep. She could only imagine what it would be like during a fine bright day in the middle of autumn; she made a mental note to explore this area if she ever had the time. Just like the driver had said, it was not long before they had arrived at the entrance of the academy.
She stepped out of the vehicle, letter from the headmaster in hand, and headed over to the doors. She did not make it far."Ohh... This is a pretty fancy looking acade-- Hueh?!" In her half-asleep state, she did not notice that there was a curb and, naturally, fell face first to the ground. "Ah, are you alright?" Asked a voice, not that of her driver. Ruko looked up and her face turned an unsightly pale shade. She stared right into the face of some random man. By the looks of it another butler, but a man nonetheless. She quickly did her best to collect herself and took several steps backwards. "Y-yeah! I'm verine, thankyou!" She said, stumbling over her words. The one who had just questioned her picked up the letter that she was previously holding and took a look at the card contained within. "The Magician. You must be Ms. Ruko Justitia, then. Welcome to the Gifted Academy." The man said, given her a bright smile. "My name is Joseph C. Wright, head butler of this establishment. I shall be servicing you and the rest of the students for the remainder of your stay."
Ruko was unsure about him. Of course, she had biased suspicions of lots of males given her condition, but he just seemed... off. Typically, she was able to understand peoples emotions through their body language and facial expression, yet this man... Joesph, seemed to not show anything at all; as though he wore a mask. In any case, she didn't feel comfortable staying outside with him. "Right. Yes. Thank you for the welcome. See you!" She quickly bowed before swiping back her items and making a dash for the doors. She slammed them shut behind her with a loud bang and immediately slumped up against the closest wall. "Bardus..." She mumbled to herself with a sigh.
Day 1
When Nathan entered the front hall, he found absolutely no one there. "So I'm the first one, huh..." he mused. Abruptly, a grin blossomed on his face. "Then I guess I can just kick back for a bit!"
Looking around at the lower portions of the walls, he noticed an outlet not too far away from the door. Sitting down directly on the floor next to that outlet, he unzipped the front pocket of his suitcase and took out a charger cable, putting the Strength card in its place. His other hand took his dark blue 3DS out of his pocket, and connected the charger to it. As the orange charging light came on, Nathan opened the 3DS and immediately started up Kid Icarus Uprising.
Several minutes and murdered enemies later, the screen displayed the main character, an angel with rather small wings, flying alongside an elegant-looking starship in a beautiful ocean of stardust. From Nathan's expression, it was clear he was enjoying himself...apparently so much that he hadn't even paid any mind to the bizarre odor of multiple plants which suddenly filled the hall.
However, he suddenly saw a green skull surrounded by purple flames appearing on the screen. Oh, crap! Knowing that this skull was an enemy which would instantly kill his character, Nathan was about to take action...
The doors to the hallway slammed shut, startling Nathan and prompting him to look up. A moment later, a scream emitted from his 3DS, and he looked down to see the words "I'M FINISHED!" on the screen. Putting the 3DS in his pocket with a dismayed expression, Nathan looked up again to see who had slammed the door.
There was a girl sitting on the other side of the hallway, right next to the door, with pink hair and an extremely pale complexion--as though she had seen a ghost. What the-- Suddenly more aware of his surroundings, Nathan looked around some more and realized he was no longer alone in this hall. Including that girl, there were already six other people here!
I had my 3DS at max volume...oh, geez. Feeling extremely embarrassed, Nathan was completely unsure of if he should say something or not.
With excellent timing, the doors opened once again, and two more people entered within a few seconds of each other--a tall boy with dark brown hair, who immediately went to lean against a wall, and a much shorter girl with long, lavender hair, who immediately went to that same boy and started talking to him about...something. The atmosphere of awkwardness in the front hall was re-established perfectly.
Not much later, Mr. Wright entered the hall as well, closing the doors behind him as he did so. "We've been informed," he told them with a somewhat more somber expression, "that the final student we were expecting tonight has been delayed. It is unfortunate, but we may as well start showing you all to your new rooms. If you would all follow me?"
Pulling the 3DS charger from the outlet and pocketing it, Nathan stood up and moved to follow the butler. In turn, Mr. Wright waited for the others to gather their things and stand up before proceeding.
Several minutes of walking later, Mr. Wright spoke up again. "All of your rooms are located in this wing, I should mention. Ah...it appears we have arrived at one already." He stopped in front of one door...
...which Nate, who was at the front of the group, could see had a picture on it. To be specific, a much larger version of the Strength card's image. "This one's mine, then?" he asked quietly, pointing at the door.
"Well, you are the holder of Strength, are you not, Master Nathan?" the butler retorted with a hint of deadpan sarcasm. "And of course, the keys that we provided to you through the letters will open your room, but no one else's. Now, let the rest of us carry onward." He walked two more paces before stopping and adding, "Ah, yes, I should mention...please excuse the rigidity of our schedule, but attempt to settle yourself in with haste. In about one hour, we shall have prepared a banquet in the dining hall." He gave them directions on how to get there from this wing, and then resumed walking, leaving Nathan standing in front of the door to his room.
Wonder what this will be like... Taking the key from his pocket, Nathan inserted it into the lock and turned it clockwise. Pushing the door open slowly, he entered...
The daze Hakon had been in as he rested from hulling his bags from out of the car was broken, the sound of the slammed door and the fact that there was now many more people outside than before brought him back to reality like a brick brings a balloon back to earth. "Schisse! Vait vore me!" He called out as he followed the group from the back. He kept his head low from that point on, keeping himself from become all too noticeable as his gown dragged behind and his plush jingled with a bell in its tail.
As the group was lead to their rooms, he took mental note of everyone he could see. A large male with flaming red hair, someone he would have to walk on egg shells a lot with to keep on his goodside he thought. The male from earlier with a leopard spotted hat, no one to keep tabs on and seemed nice enough. Another male that looked more like a bussiness man than a student. An oddity, but nothing too out of the ordenary. Though he had no right to speak on the topic of being "normal". A lavender haired girl clinging on to the bussiness attired male? She's pretty and seemed nice.
He didn't have the time to asses everyone there as he noted that the butler was explaining who's door was whos. Or at least that's how he took it. "So sat mean sat... The green haired cuckoolander wandered from the group and strolled down the hall until he stopped in front of a door that matched his own card. A woman draped in blue was a moon headdress and sitting on a throne set in what seemed to be a temple of some kind. "sis is meine. ja?" He plunged his hand into the back of his gliscor plush, pulling out the key that had been given to him so long ago. He waved his head back and forth as he fumbled with his things and the key, but finally opened the door before walking inside.
The room itself made Hakon sigh a breath of relief once he closed the door behind him. Finally away from the stress of people and in his own domain. Dark yes, but he had still yet to drop his things from even walking in. He ran his hand on the wall to his left, searching for the light switch. Soon his fingers found it, however it was a button rather than a flipper than he was used to. Once pressed, his eyes lit up with a mixture of surprise and the feeling of home.
The room looked like it was pulled out of a temple and mixed in with a bit of the rustic feel of a cabin to it. The dark hardwood floor and a faux bearskin rug in the floor. A large window sitting behind a desk that looked more like a sacrificial altar made of solid stone. Hakon caressed the top of the desk, for a moment thinking he would feel the cool touch of stone, but found that it was warm wood. "Ausgezeichnet. Ein Meister in seinem Handwerk, wer das machte."* but a whisper from his lips as he wandered around the rest of his room, leaving his bags by the desk. A little witch cabin from the looks of it, but he couldn't find a bed anywhere. A mini fire pit in the middle of the room around a couple large leather bound seats and A television seemed to be built into the wall. It felt homey, like he was supposed to be here all along, but he felt like there was more to see. He peeked his head into the bathroom, smiling at the fact that there wasn't a shower to be seen. But a large hot tub looking bath with alot of room around the edge for candles and such. he noted that after a dinner, he would need to make use of that as soon as possible.
But one thing was still bothering him. The bed was still missing. He had already looked almost everywhere, and it made him snarl slightly as he looked around the room until he actually looked down the ways from the bathroom. A large barrel with a staircase leading up to the semicircle hole. "Nein! Sie taten es nicht!**" He exclaimed as he bounded up to the barrel. It was, indeed, a beer barrel from Germany. Standing on stilts to keep it from rolling away. He bounced around it, squealing in joy.
Pulling himself into the bed, The inside was lined with a gray-ish fur and the comforter looking like bear fur with pillows to match. It mellowed with his tastes, always having a soft spot for furs and plush feeling things. A genuine, non-coaxed smile creeped on his face a he nuzzled his face into the covers. Humming a happy tune as he soon found himself not wanting to get up from his position. He wished that his was his home. And for this brief moment....it was. However, his own stomach roused him from his comfort. He hadn't eaten for a few days and his stomach was starting to protest his habit again. "Dinner is startink soon. Hopefully no one vill notice." He muttered to himself as he climbed out of the barrel and strode back to his bags. He pulled out another robe like outfit that looked more at home on a priest than a feminine male such as himself. He leaned his head on to the door. Attempting to hear the rest of his peers before leaving to follow them. Hopefully dinner won't be an emotional trainwreck for him.
Alexander Dalton
The entire time he had been waiting Alex had just been standing there, just humming to himself as students slowly trickled in through the door. All lead in by The butler. Well.....almost all of them. That one girl with the pink hair practically barged with the grace of a rhinoceros. He couldn't help but snicker at this but quickly shut himself up. There was no need for him getting on anyone's bad side on the first day. Or would it be night? Well it didn't mater much now. they were all here now. The boy playing the DS looked like he had been here for a while now and seemed a bit absorbed in his game. Then there was the girl with the long green hair who smelled like his grandmothers herb garden. Alex tried to refrain from sneezing. He eyed the tall boy leaning against the wall. Something tells me I shouldn't try anything with that guy. He quickly sized up everyone else in the room. The group looked like a bunch of teens that you would never picture all hanging out together, much less being in the same room. what is this, the breakfast club?
Alex let out sigh. He better make a good first impression if he planed on surviving this kind of place. After all, everyone here was special and talented in their own right. That alone was intimidating enough for him. At least most of the girls were pretty. The girl with the silvery hair that walked in with that guy at the same time was pretty cute. The thought brought color to his cheeks for only a moment before he pulled his hat down a bit to cover his face up. aside from that, it looked as if all the students were accounted for by Alex's perspective, at least until Joseph entered and made his announcement of the late arrival. Mr. Wright waited for the others to gather their things before heading off deeper into the manor. Alex had thought to put his headphones on and listen to music, but decided against it, Realizing how rude it might appear.
When they arrived in the wing where their rooms were located. Alexander approached the butler and gave a light tap to the mans shoulder. Joseph turned his head and regarded the Fool, not looking the least bit annoyed. "Yes master Alex, Is there something you need?" While he was not accustom to being treated so politely, Alex still reciprocated by adgusting his hat so that his face could be seen easily. meeting the butler with deep blue eyes, The boy gave a bow of the head. His grandfather taught him to be respectful and polite in front of people deserving of it. "My apologies Mr.Wright, but I have a few matters that I would like to attend to right away. Could you please point out my room if it is not to much trouble to ask?" Some of the students had their eyes on him now. It made him nervous being looked at by more then one person. What made it worse was wondering what they might be thinking of him right now. The butler just smiled and pointed to what happened to be the very last door at the end of the hall. "It is quite alright dear Fool. All of you must be wanting to settle in right away, I cannot blame you for wanting to be in a more comfortable setting. The last room there is yours."
Alexander gave another bow of his head and thanked the butler. He quickly addressed the rest of his fellow students. "I hope to meet you all later tonight at the dinner. perhaps then we can be properly introduced." With that he turned on his heel and walked at a brisk pace to his door. Oh dear lord, I feel like my heart might burst out of my chest.
He stopped in front of the door. His door. On it was the same image of the jester that was on his card. The jester seemed to grin down at him in an eerie sort of way. The boy gulped. Well, might as well get it over with then. He inserted his key, turned it and opened the door . . . .
Once inside, what she could only assume to be the main hall of this place she wasn’t exactly sure what to do given that she wasn’t alone and didn’t know her presumed classmates yet. Opting for a safe choice she purposefully made her way towards a couch a little out of the way near one of the corners of the room and settled into it, lying back a little and taking out her sketchbook. She pulled her headphones up over her hat and put them back on so she could enjoy a little music while she worked, her eyes flitting around the room to take in the architecture but most importantly the people standing in it.
Spying a total of five other students, two of which were girls and three boys she tried her best from where she was to jot down their features and such while also drawing a landscape picture of the room itself from where she sat. Definitely an interesting collection of people that was for sure, she mused as she cast her eyes over to the boy sat playing on his DS quietly out of the way. She engrossed in sketching those who she’d seen and would quite possibly have missed the arrival of a girl with hair so bright it almost hurt to look at had it not been for the fact she slammed the door after her. Though Cassie had to admit, even just to herself that her reaction to the bright pink hair was probably due to jetlag finally starting to catch up to her after the journey, and an accompanying yawn did little to dissuade her of that feeling.
She’d just begun adding the girl, after trying her best not to glare since the echo from the slamming door had echoed quite loudly and wondering if she’d have a bright enough pink for the portrait later on when the door was opened again and a pair came in following Joseph. Cassie cocked her head a little towards them, watching as the small petite girl walked more into the room while the rather tall boy seemed to try and hide in the shadows rather than follow. The girl appeared to be asking Joseph something before running back to the boy. Cassandra then lifted her headphones off so they’d hang around her neck as the head butler appeared to be wanting to address them all, but her attention seemed drawn to the latest arrivals.
“Wonder if they’re a couple or something.”
She muttered to herself, flicking a page and quickly doing a speed sketching the two leaning close together, lips almost touching but with one standing in light and the other in darkness.
“We've been informed," The head Butler began, his voice a somewhat sombre tone compared to earlier "that the final student we were expecting tonight has been delayed. It is unfortunate, but we may as well start showing you all to your new rooms. If you would all follow me?"
She was only half listening to Joseph as she finished up her drawing, and wasn’t that interested that others hadn’t arrived but at the mention of room she perked up and quickly tucked her art book and pencils into her bag so she could follow Joseph to their rooms. They’d entered a long hallway with several doors branching off, each of which looked to depict a different Tarot, causing her to fetch her own out to compare with the art on the doors. However before she could she saw one of the others, a boy with blonde hair approach Joseph as he was explaining about the room and request to go straight to his own. Her ears perked up at the comment about him being the Fool which made her chuckle at little as he ran towards the furthest room. Shaking her head she wandered away from the others, looking at each of the portraits on the door and lightly brushing her fingers against the artwork before at last finding her door opposite that of the Lovers, and apparently in the middle of the corridor, similar to their place within the Major Arcana. She put away her card after momentarily comparing the detail between the two and took out her key, turning it sideways to have a look at the Roman numerals for seven before inserting it into the key and entering her room.
Not exactly the best first impression, that's for sure. Ruko could feel her soul slowly dying as soon as she took a seat just off to the side of the main entrance. Her loud, undoubtedly odd, entry to the building drew most, if not all, the eyes of the people currently situated there. She didn't even need to look up to know that she was being watched. If there ever was a time where she didn't wish to be noticed, this would definitely be it. She idly fidgeted with her card, praying to something that there would be some sort of an excuse that would allow her to blend into the crowd and be the one looking than the one looked at.
As though to answer her prayer, another person entered through the main entrance that she had just recently slammed shut. Well, not person, but people. First was the familiar butler that had stood outside, the one whom she had bolted away from. Following him were two others. One taller male with dark-brown and a smaller girl with a really pale hair color; it seemed to be somewhere in between an extremely pale lavender or a strong silver. The male seemed to be scanning the room. For what reason, Ruko couldn't tell, but he had a look of annoyance in his eyes and his body language suggested that it wasn't because he was looking for a friend. "He seems... like someone to avoid..." She whispered to herself. On the other hand, the smaller girl seemed to have just relayed a message from the butler, Joseph, to the guy. From what she could tell based on that girl's body language, she seemed like she'd be a more cheerful person. An opposite attitude to that of the male. "Why does she hang around that guy..." Ruko asked herself. "Someone who seems as nice as she does can't willingly want to hang out with someone who seems to be rude like him... Is he perhaps... Blackmailing her...?"
Although she knew that having such speculations before you get to know a person is never good, she couldn't help but feel like there was something going on between these two. She'd be sure to keep an eye on that guy, from a distance of course. He didn't seem trustworthy. Ruko took this chance to quickly survey the others in the room. There was another male sitting on the other side of the room near a power outlet. The most peculiar thing that she noticed about him was his hat which had a sort of pattern on it, like an animal pelt or something. Nearby the one with the hat was a figure with long, green hair. "Wow... she has nice hair." Ruko mumbled. Green was holding some sort of plush and, based on how she carried herself, seemed to be an ... interesting person. For lack of better words. Someone to talk to later, definitely.
Moving on, she settled her eyes on a dark skinned female. This one seemed to have an air of mystery around her. One that people could associate with a rebel or vigilante. Next was another male sporting a white beanie with a bit of blonde hair sticking out underneath. "Uhm... based on how he carries himself... He seems like someone who would do a lot of running. Maybe I can..." Ruko shook her head. As much as she would like a running partner, he was a guy. There's no way that would work out given her condition.
Looking a bit more, Ruko's eyes landed on another female who was holding some sort of book. A notebook? No, it was more like a sketchbook. She definitely seemed to be concentrated with her current piece. "Maybe I could ask her if I could see some of her art later." Finally, there was the male with the red hair. He seemed to be on his own, though mostly everyone was. He seemed lonely. Well, either lonely or alone. Those two, albeit close, are not the same.
Before she had much time to contemplate on Red, she heard the butler, Joseph, speak up. He mentioned something about there being a late arrival before striding off down another hall to what was soon to be everyone's new living quarters. It didn't take long for her to be introduced to her room. A door with the same picture as her tarot card allowed it to be easily identified, the Magician. She opened up the door to her room, being sure to close it slowly and quietly behind her. She definitely made enough noise with the door slamming from earlier. No need to repeat that predicament.
She looked around her room, definitely pleased with what she saw. "Wow... Tadaima." She said, letting a smile creep on her face. It wasn't much, just a simple room with beige walls and wood flooring. Despite her being the child of a wealthy family, she definitely preferred this kind of style more. It gave her that sense and feeling of normality. There was even a stand for her guitar and a note saying that her walls were soundproof. Definitely a great room for her. "This is gonna be a good time, I think." she said as she began to unpack her belongings.
Louella perched on her suitcase, legs stretched out in front of her and crossed at the ankle, whereas Tristen silently surveyed the room, memorizing faces and trying to put traits to them. That was, of course, only observation, he would not know anything for sure until he got to speak to everyone personally or see them interacting with others. Physical appearance could tell a lot though, and Tristen made sure to pay attention to everything. When he glanced down at his twin, she was typing away on her phone, a picture of a big bay gelding on the screen that their older brother must have sent her. He, unlike Tris and Lou, was the biological son of their adoptive parents, and they did not get along. On the other hand, Lou loved him, he was the nicest guy that always bought her whatever she wanted and took her wherever. The big brother that Tristen wasn't.
As you can imagine, Louella and Tristen had very different opinions on everyone else gathered in the room. The blonde boy with the white beanie, he was cute and looked nice, maybe nervous like her since he was just standing there, not bothering with anyone else. Tristen immediately didn't like his "look", though that wasn't a big surprise, but there wasn't much else for him to go off of. Green haired girl? She looked nice, very pretty. She caught Tristen's attention. Louella caught on to it as soon as she glanced over at her brother, feeling a pang of jealousy that someone else had already caught his interest and she could barely get two words in without him shutting her down. Her twin was always drawn to those who stuck out, and green hair definitely did, whereas she was just his silly sister that wasn't interesting at all.
A few minutes later and the butler reentered the room, announcing they would be heading up to their rooms. Lou had just had the chance to get up from her suitcase when Tristen grabbed it, following at the back of the herd of people. Bella stayed with him, if only because he had her things and everyone else sort of intimidated her. Tristen and Louella's rooms where across from each other, each door having half the card sort of blurred out, indicating who belonged in which. After handing Lou her suitcase, they both unlocked their doors and went inside, mimicking the rest of the students.
Half of Tristen had been concerned they were going to have to share a room, so to say the least he was pleased at having his own space. He was actually surprised as how much he liked his room, he had thought they were all going to be typical dorms, the kind he'd spent most of his school-years in so far as the twins had always attending boarding academies. Immediately the dark sort of theme appealed to him, there was a lightswitch for he assumed the lamp in the corner, but the window let in enough light that he didn't bother turning it on. Books lined two of the walls, novels he hadn't read, some of his favorites could easily be picked out, and many he hadn't gotten his hands on yet. There was a desk against one of the books walls and a bed against the other, neither that he paid much mind too, the books were much more important.
Louella's room, on the other hand, was much more simplistic. Posters of some of her favorite things lined the walls already, some she even had on her own walls at home, and there were those sort of lights you put up for christmas hanging from the ceiling. A new laptop was on a desk in the corner, as well as some brand new journals and colorful pens for her to start writing with. Clapping her hands together and tucking them under her chin, she looked at her new room happily before running towards and jumping on the bed. "Perfect!" She said out loud, even though no one was around to hear it.
Hakon Astapora Sigrun
Hakon could hear people on the outside, his peers walking down the hall to dinner. As much as his belly was protesting the fact that he had stopped eating two days before he had gotten the letter, he was frightened. Scared even. "At best sey may just not notice mee. He muttered to himself as he clutched the plush around it's neck. A large blue plush he had named 'Axel'. "At vorse...." The green-haired male shivered at the thought.
He could not take the berating his stomach was giving him any more. He could just imagine the variety of food that was spread out before them. It was the first night after all and normally a feast should be provided for everyone to enjoy. He muttered to himself as he peeked his head out the door, only to just catch a glimpse of the leopard skin hat of that one guy go around the corner. He breathed a sigh of relief. "Gut. Say are gone." He stepped out of his room finally, holding the claw of the plush like a small child would their favorite teddy bear, as he strode down the hall.
He kept his head down, his footsteps as quiet as possible. He didn't want to get the wrong kind of attention. Or any attention for that matter. In his mind he had turned out fine from being alone most of his life. Most people wouldn't understand his...hobby, he doubted most people would even attempt to understand it. In his mind, the most he could hope for was that he wasn't bullied any worse here than he was back home.
He slinked his way into the dinning hall noiselessly, keeping himself out of sight for as long as possible. Coiling his arms around Axel, observing the other students in his own little corner. "If I dun't have to talk much, sat is gut enough vor mee."
She paused. The soft clicking she’d been hearing for a while now finally catching her attention as she glanced over at the record player, where the needle had reached the end of the record and was now trying to signal that and was now just playing a faint static. This meant she’d spent way to long lost in her own world and caused her to feel a little guilty as the others could well be waiting on her so she quickly rinsed her paint brushes and sealed the tins, several of which were now open compared to the one she’d taken out, and stored everything away before double checking her clothes and such in the mirror.
Satisfied with her appearance and choice of outfit, that of tattered jeans and a AC/DC t-shirt she’d pulled from her trunk she hooked her headphones around her neck and pulled her cap over her head and smiled warmly at her reflection. Her mind going back to when her dad had bought her the massively oversized cap, at least back then, because of her love for Fievel, and it was showing its age a little. Sighing a little at the wonderful hours of awkward interactions to come she picked up her sketchbook at dropped a few pencils and fine pens into her pockets before leaving her room to head downstairs to the dining hall, locking her door behind her and lightly juggling the key.
Her thoughts turning back to the half-finished mural now adorning her walls as she entered the hall, wondering what she’d need to add to the small cluster of portraits she’d quickly sketched out for each of her fellow students so far as she spotted a few of them already in the room. Each face she’d drawn had been hinting at her understanding of them and their cards, though most were half complete and rough things with little personality save for a half caught glimpse. As she settled down in one of the large chairs around the table she pulled her feet up to sit cross legged as she doodled a little to amuse herself, lifting her headphones back over her ears so she could distance herself a little.
Day 1
There was no point in trying to sit at the end of the table; though he'd certainly like to, Nathan somehow had the feeling he wouldn't be the only one vying for those chairs. Therefore, he instead sat in one of the seats closest to the table's center.
While food had already been placed on the table, not everyone was present, and though the sweet aromas tempted Nathan to reach out and snatch some of it, he forced himself to remain still. Looking around, he noticed a girl sitting towards one of the ends of the table, with short brown hair and a sketch pad...yep, one of his other peers. He remembered now.
...is it okay to open up? To try and get to know her a bit better...maybe...?
No, no good at all...what if I say something wrong, and cause her to end up hating me? I shouldn't do it...but...
Oh, to hell with it. Someone would have to break the ice eventually. And as strange as it seemed, Nathan chose to get her attention in possibly one of the most childish ways possible.
"H-hey..." Still sitting in his seat, he attempted to call out to her...but his voice wasn't quite working well enough; it came out as a feeble stammer. Fantastic.
Clearing his throat and mentally steeling himself for how much he might suffer afterwards, Nathan forced his expression into a mischievous smile and stood up, moving to the chair right next to the artist girl and sitting down in it. "Hey. What are you doing over there? You're looking...awfully sketchy."
...I am going to regret this so, so much.
Ruko jolted up with a start. She looked around with confused as her brain strained to remember what she was doing prior to falling asleep. "Ah.. right. I was getting settled in..." She glanced around the room, noting that she really did not have much done. Her clothes lay strewn about, some already in the dresser, others scattered around the room. The only thing that could really be considered tidy in her room was her guitar which lay against its stand neatly in a corner.
The pink haired girl's brain finally kicked back into gear, remembering that they, the other students and herself, were to meet up for dinner. "Ima nanji?" She exclaimed, jumping up from her bed. She scrambled over to the digital clock which she had brought with her. She muttered a curse under her breath and nearly bolted out of her room, almost forgetting to lock her door behind her. There was still time before the actual time, but being there early was something she had planned on doing beforehand.
As she neared the dining hall, Ruko slowed her pace down a little. Thankfully she was quite sporty, otherwise she would have been panting hard. If there was anyone else in the dining hall before her, it would be quite weird if she came in grasping for air. She slowly eased open the door just a crack and took a peek inside. Inside were four other bodies. There was the scary red-haired guy from before. Red was off by his lonesome, but Ruko was nowhere near courageous to approach him casually and just start up a conversation; for more reasons than one, of course. Next was the lady with the long green hair. It looked like she had some sort of plush with her. Ruko was more of an outdoorsy kind of person so she never really played much in terms of video games, but she definitely recognized that one. Although, it struck Ruko as odd; the kind of emotion that was being emanated from Green. It was kind of like... She was trying her best to be invisible. Odd.
Before Ruko could even look at the next person, she heard a voice call out. Judging by the direction of it, it belonged to the boy with the animal hat. "Hey. What are you doing over there? You're looking...awfully sketchy." He had said, looking in the direction of the lady with the sketchbook. It almost reminded her of how middle-school boys would tease the person they had a crush on. Maybe that's what was going on... Ruko brought up her palm to her forehead and had to suppress laughing out loud right then and there on account of how miserable that was. "Yabai. Yabai." She warned herself. "I'll be noticed before I even enter." She looked again, but she didn't even need to read his face to know that Animal Hat was already regretting his words. Ruko glanced over to the one he was talking to, the one with the sketchbook, and noticed that her ears had earbuds in them. Sighing and shaking her head, Ruko couldn't help but wonder whether or not Animal Hat knew about it. Sketch definitely had that I'm-busy-don't-speak-to-me kind of body language right now.
All things considered, Ruko figured her best bet right now would be to see if she could talk with Green, so she called her for now. Red seemed like a definite no-go. She definitely didn't want to get in the way of Animal Hat's advances on Sketch. She took a deep breathe to compose herself. She would have to interact with people for the dinner. She displayed enough weakness upon her arrival. It was time to get back in the flow. She needed to know what each person could do, what they liked, what they didn't. Male or female, she needed to get on their good sides. She took another breath, "You are not afraid. You are strong." She repeated to herself.
She swiped her hand in front of her face, mentally changing from her normal self to her actor self. She pushed open the dining hall doors and walked inside, a smile pasted on her face. She walked over to the green-haired lady, tapping on her shoulder. "Excuse me. May I sit here?"
Alexander Dalton
He might have just fallen asleep right then and there on his new bed if not for a muffled meowing that was coming from a rather large, box shaped bag that had yet to be opened. Eyes snapping open, Alex sprung from his bed and ran over to the bag, quickly beginning to open it. "Shit shit shit shit, I'm so sorry!" The second the bag opened a black blur darted out of it like oil in water. The poor boy stumbled and fell flat on his butt, A startled look plastered across his face. Just before he could regain his bearings Alex felt something brush up against his back. It was the annoyed meow that brought a nervous chuckle out of him. Turning around, Alex's eyes met bright yellow ones surrounded by pitch black fur. "Sorry Spooky, I had gotten myself so caught up in all of this that I had forgotten about you." The cat meowed again in protest but was quickly quieted when Alex reached over and began scratching her behind the ears. "I'll make it up to you I promise. Until then why don't you take a look around our new home."
After getting up and leaving the cat to go about exploring the room, He noticed the clock on the wall. "Oh geeze is it that time already? I'm gonna be late if i keep mucking about." He paused for a moment to replay what he had just said in his head. Mucking about? I'm starting to sound like grandpa. The fool shook his head and went to get himself changed.
While still wearing his hat, Alex had dressed up into more fitting clothing for dinner with his new classmates and teachers. White button down shirt, black slacks, simple leather shoes. and A light material black jacket with silvery trim here and there. He had considered adding a tie, but seeing how his current outfit was not all that formal he chose against it. Not too fancy, but not too cheep and boring either. perfect. For the final touch, Alex grabbed a pair of sky blue headphones and put them around his neck before jacking them into his MP3 player. With that, he was now confident to go out and meet everyone. Though the nervousness did come back once he got to the door.
"Alright Spooky, I'm heading out. Don't go watching any weird videos on the internet while I'm gone."
Alexander chuckled a bit as he closed the door behind him.
He saw nobody else in the hallway. After a second glance back and forth, He saw a few people heading in the direction of what he assumed would be the dining room. He made a mental note to try and remember the academy's layout soon so he would be able to navigate the place himself. Alex soon found himself following them, which was probably his best option. The fool then put on his headphones and set his MP3 to a song he currently liked. Once it started playing, he began singing alone with it. Imitating the singers voice perfectly.
"I'm just setting, I'm just setting a trap
And I'm not pulling, no
I'm not pulling for you, you're just pulling at me
I'm not a betting man but this is a sure thing
I've been to Tokyo and to South Africa
So many places that you might say I've seen it all
But my favorite place is the warm embrace
Of holding your hair back in a bathroom stall
Everything I do is bittersweet
You could tell me secrets that I'll probably repeat
I'm not trying to hurt you, I just love to speak
It feels like we're pulling teeth
So bittersweet~"
He kept on singing as he made his way through the halls. Still into the song when they arrived at the dinning room. Alex didn't pay much attention to the people already there. he just went and found a place to sit while they waited for everyone else. seeing as there were currently more chairs then the number of people in the room. He was glad to be occupied with his song. it would take his mind off the food and help his confidence once he had to start socializing. And so he kept on singing, if not a bit quieter then before.
Hakon Astapora Sigrun
The little world that Hakon would draw himself into during times like this was something of a strange one. Jellyfish and deer ran about freely along with other strange images. One could relate them to a screen saver on a computer as Hakon sat down, attempting to calm down.
"Excuse me. May I sit here?" a voice knocking him out of this benign delusion, causing his head to snap toward her. He sighed in slight relief. "Oh! S-s-sorry about sat. Please I von't shtop you." He stammered, trying to be polite while also trying not to flip out and run away. He had never had anyone ask if they could have could sit somewhere. If anything, he was the one asking and at that point he would have just banished himself to a dark corner This was new and made him shiver slightly and his leg shake, making his foot thump against the floor and the plush jump slightly.
He stared at the ground, trying to avoid eye contact as he tried to assess the rest that were in the room. A red male seemed to be wandering about by his lonesome. A frightening looking one at that. He shivered as he muttered slightly, hoping that the food would come soon so, again, he wouldn't have to talk much.
Day 1
"Awfully sketchy? I'm drawing something while I think of more to add to other pictures, and stars help me think. They're beautiful."
This response...wasn't what Nathan expected at all. Sure, he could sense that very small amount of sarcasm in her remark, letting him know that she got the joke, but he was surprised she didn't seem irritated in the slightest.
”Le mystère des étoiles,” the girl murmured, removing her headphones from her ears and shifting herself into a new position that allowed Nathan to see her art--not that he knew if she intended for that. At the moment, it was nothing more than a penciled sketch of what looked like outer space...
...but, whoa. Leaning in closer with a stunned expression, Nathan couldn't believe his eyes. What was with this sketch? He was no serious art expert, but this...the sheer amount of detail in the atmospheres of each planet, all the stars that were drawn in without looking simply like lazily-forgotten gaps in shading...it seemed impossible. He looked up at her face, still disbelieving, and was even more baffled to find she was looking straight at him. You've GOT to be kidding me! How is she this good?!
...I'm probably nothing compared to her...
"So, what is your name, Mr. Nintendo? And given our doors and such, your card.”
Hearing her voice, Nathan immediately banished what he had been thinking about to a dark corner of his mind and returned his gaze to meet the artist girl's eyes, hoping she hadn't seen his expression sadden. Come on, idiot, try not to make this conversation trainwreck, will you?
"Oh. Uh..." He forced another smile onto his face, but it didn't feel quite right there anymore. "I'm Nathan Alshane, and my card is Strength. And what about you?" Putting on a grin, he closed his eyes and held up a palm in some kind of cliche anime-like hand gesture. "Wouldn't be surprised if you had stars or something, though. I mean, your drawing is pretty stellar."
Deep down, he hoped desperately his own bad jokes would at least get him to think about something other than her stunning drawing...compared to his own imperfect talents, and the envy that came with them.
It didn't take much to understand more or less what was going on in the green-haired lady's mind. Well, for Ruko at least. Green was pretty much an open book. Between her stutters, her shift in body language and his refusal to make eye contact, anyone would be able to tell that she was uncomfortable. For what reason, Ruko had some ideas. After all, they, all the students, had been gathered on short notice and they hardly knew one another.
Ruko's brain immediately went to work. As of yet, Green was just another mystery. A person with an unknown story. Everyone has their own point of tolerance, she needed to figure out what that was. Of course, the only way to do that would be to initialize conversation and get to know the person a little. Taking a deep breath and reassuring herself once more, she sat down beside Green and looked at her with a smile.
"Hajimemashite, I'm Ruko. Nice to meet you." Ruko said cheerfully, extending out an opened hand to the one beside her. It wasn't much, but it was definitely a way to start things off. "Ah, I'm the holder of the Magician arcana." She added. Considering the situation, she may as well say her tarot as well. Chances are not everyone even knows what the cards stand for so no harm no fowl.
Through her peripherals she made sure to keep track of where everyone was in the room. To one side was the red haired guy, still off on his lonesome. Ruko was able to read much on him at that moment as his body language was in a neutral position, not hinting any interest in anything but his own thoughts. To the other was Sketch and Animal Hat, they seemed to chatting up a storm and, judging by their body language, they were enjoying themselves. Ruko grinned a little at that, Animal Hat's advances on Sketch worked, more or less. Who knows how that will develop.
Hajimemashite-Nice to meet you.
Alexander's singing died away as the track finished playing. He turned off his MP3 and slid his blue headphones off his ears, now letting them hang around his neck. After a quick scan of the room it had appeared that nobody had payed much attention to his singing. Which was a relief for him since he had been so caught up in the song. Then again, just because nobody was reacting did not necessarily mean they hadn't noticed.
And there goes his confidence. Social anxiety now dropping like a ton of bricks in his chest, Alex's face started becoming a bit to hot for his liking. Meaning he was probably as red as a tomato right now. He hunched his back and raised his shoulders, tucking in his neck. None of these people knew him. So why was he so freaked out? Well years of being judged and taking abuse is a hard thing to shake off. People were scary. You never knew what their thoughts of you were. But what probably bothered The fool more then anything was the eyes. When people stared it felt like they were looking right through him and seeing something that had absolutely no use to anyone. Alex began to mumble to himself "Please don't stare at me, please don't stare at me, Just please don't stare at me."
Alex was regretting himself for being so careless and getting caught in the heat of the moment. Pulling his hat halfway down over his face as he mumbled his little mantra over and over to himself.I really hate being like this. Why can't I get over something as simple as drawing attention to myself? Oh right, its because of my dad and every one back home.
Slowly taking deep breaths, Alex soon brought himself back to a more calm state. He adjusted his hat so his face was visible yet again and sat up straight. Trying to be more casual then he felt, and looked considering his face was still flushed a nice shade of pink. Way to go Alex, you probably made yourself look like more of a freak then you already are. He did a double take in his head just then, Okay, I just called myself a freak......wow and I'm speaking to myself in my head. Can i get anymore pathetic? The Fool soon dismissed that thought after thinking it. No need to be too negative. What had he told himself before? He has a fresh start here, these people can become actual friends. A smile began to grow on his face then.
Looking back at the others, Alex now gave himself the time to remember faces. The red haired guy was standing alone. He seemed as anti-social as he did back in the main hall. Still, wouldn't hurt to say hello and be introduced. Then there was the girl that was with the guy with the Animal hat. They seemed to be getting along. The girl seemed nice enough and so did the guy in the hat. Mr. animal hat had been playing a video game when Alex had first walked in the front hall. Talk about video games, perfect icebreaker. shouldn't be too hard.
His attention was now on the girls with pink and green hair. Alex swore he could smell The green one from where he was sitting. Granted it didn't smell to bad, but a bit to earthy for his tastes. She seemed a bit skittish though from her current state and mannerisms. Maybe about as bad as he was just a minute ago. It might just end up being awkward for both of us if i try and talk to her directly. He sighed and moved on to the pink haired girl. She seemed cheerful. It looked like she was observing everyone else in the room at the time. maybe sizing everyone up, or more likely seeing who to talk with next. Granted Alex was just assuming she was the talkative type since she seemed to have just walked right up to Green.
In the end, He just rested his chin in his hands with his elbows planted on the tables edge. Letting his gaze wonder around as they all waited for the other students to show up.
Hakon Astapora Sigrun
Hakon's mind raced, never before had he had someone willingly introduce themselves to him aside from his foster parents. Normally he would have been persuaded, pushed and forced to even make himself known to the rest of the group. His eyes darted around, as if looking for the words to come to him in subtitles of some sort. "Uh...V-V-Vergnügen*. He stuttered, shaking the pink girl's hand. "Mein name ist Astapora." his German mother tongue breaking through, though he had noticed that some German did sound like English for the most part.
The gliscor plush rattled in his lap as his leg shook harder, dropping the card out from it's back and causing him to dive for it. He popped back up, his face crimson with embarrassment from dropping what he was just about to say. The green started to pet his own hair, attempting to calm his nerves as he looked around again.
The Red was still by his lonesome thankfully. To Hakon, he felt like a minnow in a tank full of sharks around him. Two more people arrived this time, The lavender and the business man. Though the latter seemed to be in a foul mood for some reason. Maybe just a sourpuss or he had just woken up from a nap. He mentally shrugged at this, looking toward the lavender and the beanie this time. Both looked nervous, but doing much better than he was at the moment. Leopard hat and Purple headphones were hitting it off quite nicely it seemed, but his English didn't permit him to understand whatever jokes they were making. At the very least everyone else was acclimating to their environment. Him?
He just wanted to eat and then run back to his room for some peace and quiet.
(*Vergnügen = Pleasure)
The sound of ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ by the Arctic Monkeys was steadily echoing from the headphones hanging around Cassie’s neck now, causing her fingers to lightly tap out the tune against the page while her pencil started to draw oscilloscopic lines that were half matching that of the music and half that of the words passing between her and Nathan. She sighed a little and shook her head as he made a massively over emphasised pun and resulted in her nodding along with his self-declaration of how beyond horrible it had turned out to be.
She ended up rolling her eyes a little at it and saw out of the corner of her eye that two more from earlier had arrived with the seemingly bubbly pink haired girl deciding to approach the girl with the lovely green hair who had been sat cuddling a plush creature of some sort for a while now. While the Fool had entered the room, apparently singing a little before taking a seat on his own, and seeming a little dejected at first glance. She turned her focus back to Nate following his unusually long pause and stared at him a little perplexed at him trying to make yet another badly designed joke which resulted in her a response being a little unsure as his enthusiasm began overwhelm her a little.
”Yeah, I think we probably are. Though I don’t seem to notice most of your puns, unless they’re obvious.”
She smiled at him again before glancing around the room to see what the others were up to and saw that the couple from earlier had finally arrived. The rather cold boy seemed to keep his distance while the girl approached the fool and started to speak to him. Beyond that she’d lost her interest in the couple, though her hands had other ideas and had begun to doodle an intricate yin-yang symbol in the empty area of the sky. Within the darker half she sketched a prowling panther that seemed to dominate the piece while the other side held a strong yet demure seeming silvery leopard.
Her eyes swept back across the room and settled on the boy with red hair sitting alone and a mischievous grin spread across her face and she flipped the book onto a fresh page and began to draw a intricate message, pulling in aspects and references of the major arcana and repeating them within the image with the primary focus on that of Strength to the side and the Chariot on the other with a rather blank space left for another card to take centre stage between them. From here she ripped the paper out of the book and folded it a few times it now looked like a paper airplane, and the artwork merged to look completely different in this new shape with the words “What is your name?” placed above the cards now on the left wing while the words “What is your Tarot?” placed on the other wing rather than below the cards on the full picture.
She smiles a little at herself and shows Nate the result, both unfolded and folded before making sure it’s ready to fly, then points over towards the redhead.
”You seen the guy over there? I’m dying to know what his tarot is so I figured this would get his attention.”
Laughing a little to herself she shrugs and pulls back her arm to launch the airplane towards the solitary boy, and watches with interest as it soars straight towards him and the point lands directly on his head. Her eyes wide in surprise and panic she sinks into her chair and pulls her hat down over her face, but not enough so her eyes can’t peak out underneath to see what the damage truly is.
Day 1
"Yeah, I think we probably are. Though I don’t seem to notice most of your puns, unless they’re obvious.”
Oh...hm, maybe I should tone it down a little. Maybe. Nonetheless, Nathan felt things were getting off to a pretty good start here. Hopefully keeping this friendship wouldn't be too hard as well...
Noticing Cassandra was looking around the room at the others, Nathan considered following her gaze. After all, his 3DS was still charging in his room, so there was no using that as a distraction. He could keep trying to talk to Cassandra, but then again, what if he screwed up, and she got tired of him?...plus, he was basically out of things to say without getting downright nosy.
A rustle of paper caused him to glance down at Cassandra's sketch pad again, just in time to see her flip to a blank page. From there, her hands started moving again and creating another picture...Nathan quickly averted his eyes, trying not to think about what her drawings reminded him of.
...well, that didn't last long, because there was another sound--tearing this time--and he found the drawing being held up in front of his face. Among the intricate designs, he could see the lady in the white dress from the Strength card standing to one side, holding the lion's maws closed. On the opposite side, a man with a scepter and a crown sat in a cart pulled by two sphinxes. That must be Cassandra's card...the Chariot, right?
What confused him was the blank space in the middle of the drawing...until Cassandra's hands started moving, folding it up into a paper airplane. "You seen the guy over there? I’m dying to know what his tarot is, so I figured this would get his attention,” she told him with a laugh.
"Uh..." For once, Nathan didn't really have anything to say, though he did catch a glimpse of the words "What is your name?" and "What is your Tarot?" on the wings. "Well, uh...okay then."
By the time he managed to think of a good pun (something about "winging it"), Cassandra was already throwing the airplane. It sailed clean across the table...and promptly landed near the targeted red-haired boy. And by "landed near", we mean "nosedived into in his hair."
Seeing where it ended up, Cassandra seemed to panic, and she quickly slumped back into her chair, pulling her hat over her face, as if to make herself look less suspicious. Nathan looked down at her in confusion, then looked back at the red-haired boy...until it finally registered in his mind that he might be the only other possible suspect for throwing that thing. Oh yes, not to mention how muscle-bound that guy was.
Crap. He didn't even have any excuses ready. Alright, time to slooooooooowly turn my head and look the other way, like none of that even happened...
Alexander Dalton
He was well aware of the two other students as they both walked through the door. It looked about the same as when the two had entered the front hall. Alex gave relatively quick glances towards the girl and boy. Which was not long since only seconds after entering, the boy walked off to the furthest table end. Away from as many of them as possible. not the social type it seems
The boy, from the look he had on his face, did not seem pleased when he had walked through the door. If anything he looked like a grumpy kid not getting thee way. I could bet money that he is spoiled. No way he isn't with an attitude like that.
It was only when Alexander went to bring his attention to the girl that he realized she was now right across from him. The poor boy almost jumped in his seat. Oh dear god when did she get there?? before he had time to think she had introduced herself with a nice smile.
"Um, hello. I'm Louella, one of the Lovers, it's very nice to meet you."
Alex blink for a second, trying his best not to turn scarlet again. Thank goodness he found his voice when he did. Awkward silence between him and a girl was the last thing he needed. The fool smiled back warmly, " I'm Alexander, The Fool. It's nice to meet you too." He rubbed the back of his neck nervously but kept smiling. Which wasn't hard, but he still felt a bit out of place in front of a girl that looked like her. Like comparing a crow to a dove. Oh god help me I'm getting poetic now. It was then when it dawned on him that she was as nervous as he was. That came as a relief. Though his introduction might not have been so great, he could have sworn his voice had cracked halfway through it.
