When he finally pulled the boy to shore Johnathon quickly looked at the one who was red from what seemed like embarrassment. "it will be ok but i may need you to call for a medic." he said with motioning with his hands to try and calm her down "but first we need to get the water out of his lungs cause even if the medics can get here fast he's still in danger." he added calmly then gestured for her to come closer.
Valdimar opened his eyes, then reacted to the fact that he had barely any oxygen. He got up, turned over onto all fours, and tried to cough, the water violently coming out as hacked hard enough for him to tear up. The pain leaving slowly his neck, he felt a different feeling, queasily he tried to hold it down but to no avail, he vomited the rest of the water all over the sand beneath him.
"Aw shit, I wonder if they'll still let me have the job?" He mumbled. There was still the question of whom had saved him. He tilted his head up. There were a few people surrounding him. He flopped onto his back, careful to keep away from the puke as it dissolved into the white sand. He slicked his hair back away from his eyes, trying to find the most disappointed face, it was usually the one who had pulled him out of danger, or in this case death. His breath softened, and his eyes fell upon some red-headed dude.
"I'm not dead yet" His voice sounded a lot better than he had expected. Sitting up, he looked at who he was with, a very nervous girl... What was her name again? Lana! Well, his entire rep would have to be won back from everybody on the beach but, at least he might get a chance to get to know her better. That was, if she could look past the dark sand that he had just puked on. "Hey Lana, I'm guessing you're the one who caught me mid fall?"
"And you'll be the one being 'dazzled' tonight, not me." she retorted. Ezra chuckled at that. Sure, he could still be considered a rookie, but they had hired him out of all those other bright candidates they could have picked from... though he guessed it could have just been because of his good looks and manners. A lot of talented surfers were so rudely arrogant, they'd scare more customers away.
"We'll see about that. "I've got a lesson soon. So I'm going to go for a quick jog to warm up. " Ezra stated, standing up gracefully. He placed a twenty on the table, and smiled at the unique little blue haired girl. "Do you need a board, or do you have your own? I'm closing up the shop tonight, since I've got the last shift."
"Oh thank goodness, you're alive!" She smiled and exclaimed as excited as she possibly could get in the horribly frantic time,
"I, yeah, I guess, that was me. Sorry. I wasn't watching you like a creep or anything, I just happened to notice it. That's it. Are you okay?" Lana asked returning to a worried state, "That was a stupid question.I mean. Obviously you're not okay. I mean um. it's just that you just almost died, but I mean, considering the circumstances are you alright?" A ruddy flushed covered her face as she'd done more talking in the past minute than she had for a majority of the time she'd been at the island. It appears that this was indeed a very eventful day. Lana took a moment to turn to John and Emm,
"Thank you, for listening to me." She sighed in relief once more, truly exasperated.
"Thanks brah, hope we won't be having to get that close again." He spoke in the general direction of his rescuer, who was accompanied by what seemed to be accompanied by his angry, but still easy-too-look-at sister. It was time to stand up however and there was not going to be any more pity for him any longer. It was just one crash, and there would be more, so it wouldn't be that much of a deal. "Excuse me everybody, but this Ice Brain is going back in."
Valdimar struggled to get back up. Finally reaching his point of uprightness, he smiled confidently at Hiro, who had come check on him. He smiled at the fellow grom. Valdimar noticed that he was a bit weak in the knees after such an endeavor. The small wobbles could have been traced by a sharp eye, but they weren't too noticeable as they would probably be gone tomorrow. They were weak enough however, to trip and fall towards Lana.
Couldn't get any worse now could it
"I don't really have much to do here right now, do you want me to walk you to the first-aid station or the Shack? If you fall and hit your head on something it'll be less than pleasant." Lana frowned seeing that Valdimar didn't make it away from his crash totally clean, she wondered if he possibly had a minor concussion, but she threw that idea out before she could make any other hypochondric guesses as to why he'd fallen. Odds are, if anyone had just scraped with death they'd be a little disoriented. Lana assured herself that this was nothing to worry about.
"Whats the matter? I'm not a shark so I don't bite." Hiro was there too, probably worried about his little accident. Valdimar walked over to a water fountain, a smug grin on his face. He rinsed his mouth out and splashed some water over his face. Something was nagging him about Hiro in the back of his head...something about work. He shook his head, the water dripping from his face. He could worry about work later. Now was the time to make some friends and have fun.
Gabe nodded, tempted to ask if she could join him, at least for the run. But that would be stupid, she'd be seeing him tonight anyways and she was way too lazy to run right then. She was so nocturnal, almost always choosing to sleep during the day and do everything else during the night, like surfing and running. It was because no one else was around, to bother or tease her. Back at home, she just stayed in her room during the day, since anytime she came out it was usually just to get yelled at or told to do something.
She watched as he stood, placing a twenty on the table. Was a coffee and a cake really twenty dollars? Maybe he just has a lot of money, she told herself. But then why would he be working here? It didn't really matter to her, but if coffee was more than five dollars she would be drinking a lot of water from there on out.
"I've got my own board, thanks though," she managed, having been so lost in her own thoughts that she hadn't heard his last words. Standing up herself, she offered a small smile to the other before heading towards the door, expecting him to follow her out. It was too loud in the cafe for her liking, though it was probably the closest place that she could get coffee so she'd have to deal with it. "I'll see you, well sometime after dark."
"i guess i'll see you later i going to head in." he said pushing off the ground and heading in with his board. 'i think i might go to my favorite spot and hang around there for a while.' he thought putting his board away and heading up to his room to get changed slipping on a shirt and a pair of jeans he quickly grabbed his wallet, even though he was working he did have enough money for basic stuff anything that was really needed. After he finished organizing he sat down on the bed and stared out the window waiting for the sun to begin to set
"I'm feeling like a nap myself." He drudged along after bidding a farewell "See ya" to Emm and Lana, making his way to the shack. He set up his board against the wall, then flopped onto the couch. He was just too tired to climb up the stairs. It had been a rough day, missing breakfast, waking up at sometime around noon, having a nice little dunk, then blacking out. John had been there to grab him, and he was thankful of that; but overall it was a rough day. Maybe tomorrow would be better. He could still wake up and go surfing at night! Sure it would be riskier, but the surf would be empty of all the tourists, and he could focus on just the surf. It was settled then, he would nap, wake up in the evening, then go surfing. All this deciding was hard work, and slowly, sleep began to overtake him. Soft, surf ridden, sleep.
