The Goddess and the Demon

“Their story has been told throughout time and space. It transcends the planetary and dimensional limits. Here on earth they have been known as Isis and Osiris, Nut and Geb, Endymion and Selene, Hades and Persephone, Adam and Eve, Michael and Lucifer. They existed before all else, before the galaxies burst from the heavens and life was created. They are light and dark, good and evil, pure and tainted, the goddess and the demon.”

Before the Universe
Tenebrae, a bleak, empty space, a cage, meant to hold the two most powerful creatures in existence. In this time they were mere balls of energy, chaos split in two forms. One was light, its energy illuminating the cage as it tried its best not to be consumed by the darkness surrounding it. The other was a large hole in the center of the universe, a dark energy that thrived on the emptiness that surrounded it. It is hard to ascertain the exact moment the two creatures made contact, but when they did, the cage was split open and the entire universe was born. When they made contact, the two creatures began to form an identity, no longer just balls of energy. They were then known as Lux (light) and Nox (dark). Their former identities manifested themselves into two artifacts. Lux’s former identity manifested itself into a golden sun that had resembled her original form. Nox’s former identity manifested itself into a dark crystal which had resembled his original form as well.
As the universe grew larger, the two beings of light and dark grew smaller and smaller, their existence becoming less and less important. The cosmos, their child, turned on them and began to engulf them. The two beings, Lux and Nox decided to split themselves across the universe, each adopting a new identity for each planet their spirits landed on. Sometimes, like with our planet, they were reborn time and time again in different forms. However, Lux and Nox contained their original beings in a realm hidden from Cosmos so that they would not lose sight of their own existence. This realm was known to Nox and Lux as Tellus.
Lux and Nox found that they had developed identities outside of their original purpose. Nox began to take the form of a demon and his original being began to accept chaos as his true form. He began to consume the world they had created together, changing it and creating evil and darkness where light and good had once reigned. The effects of their original forms changing began to ripple into their split forms. At first their split spirits were known as lovers but, as time elapsed, the two beings began to turn on themselves, just as the cosmos turned on them. Lux could not allow Nox to turn their world into chaos, but the only way she could think to stop him was to leave their world to search for help against him. Knowing that it was a dangerous mission, Lux fled from their world to search the cosmos for beings who would be able to assist her.
She found the beings not far from our planet, earth. They were thought to be constellations, stars clustered together and named by humans. But in reality, they were beings of unimaginable power hidden together away from Cosmos just like Lux and Nox. Lux asked the constellations to split themselves away from their original posts, leaving shadows of themselves, and to come join her against Nox. The twelve beings agreed and left their copies to guard the sun and its planets against Cosmos.

Millions of Years later
Nox and Lux’s battle lasted millions of years in their world. The twelve constellations constantly switched sides between Nox and Lux as they fought for or against chaos. Both Nox and Lux’s bodies began to decompose along with the twelve constellations. The constant war that ravaged the world that Nox and Lux created began to wear on them as well. As a last ditch effort to fight against Nox’s demon army, Lux created humans based primarily off the humans she had seen through one of her shadow selves. The new creatures very similar to the humans on planet earth. With the creation of humans, Lux was able to hold off Nox’s attacks at least a little longer.
Unfortunately, Lux’s humans couldn’t hold back the demons completely. She knew she had to get rid of Nox herself and the only way she knew how was to destroy his original form. Lux gathered the six constellations that had been loyal to her and attacked Nox for the last time. The greatest battle Tellus had ever seen. Lux, with her last ounce of energy, broke Nox’s crystal, sending the shards across the land in all directions. But before Nox was completely destroyed, he too broke Lux’s golden sun and sent the shards flying all across Tellus. But the two beings were not killed. Just before Lux broke Nox’s crystal, she cast a spell upon her golden sun that would imprison the two beings on planet Earth so that they could do no more harm to Tellus or its people.
The twelve constellations were locked away, their souls preserved to be reincarnated incase Lux or Nox ever found their way back to Tellus. The humans and the demons still exist on Tellus despite Lux’s efforts to keep them at bay. The war has ceased momentarily but peace does not last forever. One day Lux and Nox will be reborn on planet Earth and their souls will once more find Tellus. When that happens, the war will once more consume Tellus, and good and evil will fight once more.

Tellus

Tellus Map
Life of Tellus
Tellus was not always such a prosperous land that it is today. Demon’s were the first creatures to walk the land other than Lux, Nox, and the astrological constellations. When Lux created the humans to fight the demons the world was in chaos. However, they received great help from the astrological constellations (now known as the astrological warriors). The humans have followed the basic developmental path that the humans on our world went through. But, with the help of Lux and the astrological warriors loyal to her, they were able to develop at a faster rate. They are now currently in a version of our Medieval history. Though there are some major influences throughout our timeline that don’t exactly fit in with our Medieval history. There are major influences from ancient china in Gellus as well as influences from ancient Greece in both Lacus and Caritus. Their weaponry is a vast collection of what Lux had seen through her shadow selves on our planet. Though, the most modern of weaponry being from the Renaissance period.

Gellus –
Modeled after the astrological warriors of Earth. A human castle built by the goddess Lux to bring peace to the Northern corner of Tellus.
One notable city near Gellus is Saxum Keep. It is known as the trade city for all paths lead to or from Saxum Keep.

Lacus –
Modeled after the astrological warriors of Air. It is a human castle, built by the goddess Lux to protect the eastern seas against invaders.
Most of the cities surrounding Lacus are trade cities. Tueor trades goods from the eastern sea and exports them inland. Gravor Hold and Flumen City are both stationed along the Flumen river so that they may trade to the smaller villages who don’t have access to the ocean.

Caritus –
Modeled after the astrological warriors of Water. It is a human castle built by the goddess so that it may export water throughout the human land of Tellus.
Caritus is stationed in the center of the three major lakes of Tellus. The water astrological warriors and the earth astrological warriors created water ways to and from the great lakes so that the entire country may have fresh water.

Moene –
Modeled after the astrological warriors of fire. Originally it had been created by Lux for the humans, so that they may protect the southern corner of Tellus. But when Nox and his demon army split Tellus in two halves, the demon’s took Moene as their own castle.

Astrological Warriors

The original Constellations
Lux had found the original constellations as they were being discovered by the human’s on Earth. They were first known to her by their names in the Sanskirt language. But, as the human’s developed, their names changed as well.

Mesa – Aries – Fire
Vrsabha – Taurus – Earth
Mithuna – Gemini – Air
Karkata – Cancer – Water
Simha – Leo – Fire
Kanya – Virgo – Earth
Tula – Libra – Air
Vrscika – Scorpio – Water
Dhanus – Sagittarius – Fire
Makara – Capricorn – Earth
Kumbha – Aquarius – Air
Mina – Pisces – Water

Coming to Tellus
When the constellations were brought to Tellus, they developed with the humans. Their first forms were that of their elements, they had no real shape or figure. However, when the humans were introduced they began taking the human form as well. Instead of their bodies consisting of their elements, the constellations were able to manifest their original forms into powers that they could call upon on any given moment. Even though they could not use powers outside of their elements, they were able to develop their powers in any way they wanted.
After Lux had managed to destroy Nox’s artifact and her own, the astrological warriors disappeared from the land. They were later reborn in new bodies with new identities so that it would be harder for the demon’s to find them. Their reincarnations could not use their elemental abilities and did not remember who their former selves were. The reincarnations continued to cycle throughout Tellus until Lux and Nox’s reincarnations returned to Tellus. Only then was their magic awakened.

Direction

Nox and Lux
The goddess Lux and the demon Nox were reborn into our world as twins, a boy and a girl. Neither of them remember their past lives or anything about Tellus. The rp will start in their point of view in our world. They’ll go to a museum where there will be a mirror in one of the exhibits. This mirror is a gateway between our world and Tellus. One of Nox’s demon’s had found the gateway and was sent through it, but he was badly weakened. The demon hid himself in the museum to wait until he found out more about Nox and Lux. When the twins enter the exhibit the demon senses that they are who he had been looking for. He grab’s the male twin, knowing it’s Nox, and drags him into the mirror. The female twin jumps in through the mirror after the demon and her brother, disappearing into the world of Tellus. Lux’s reincarnate will land on the human side of Tellus while Nox’s reincarnate will land, with the demon, on the demon side of Tellus.

The Astrological Warriors
When the twins were born, the elemental powers were awakened in the reincarnates already born. When the other reincarnates were born, they too discovered their powers after time. Some accepted who they were, others were shunned because of it. Some of them believe that the goddess Lux and the demon Nox will return, and have already allied themselves with either side. A few others, probably more than half, haven’t sided and are resentful of the goddess and the demon. However, in order to finally end the war, all astrological warriors must choose to fight for Lux or to fight for Nox.

The Shattered Artifacts
When the artifacts were destroyed, both of Lux’s and Nox’s artifacts were split into twelve sections and scattered across the world of Tellus. In order to finally gain an upper hand on the war, either side must fully gather all twelve pieces of the artifacts and join them together. This is the ultimate goal other than gaining as many astrological warriors as they can.

I do not want any images used to describe your character. You may add one after I aprove your character.

Second Rule: Character Sheet
Give your best work in your character sheet. Don’t cut corners, this is the first bit of writing I will see from you. If it’s not up to standard, you will not be in the role play. I am very very guilty of over posting so this applies to me as well. I want this role play to flow smoothly and for people to not take ages to send in their replies.

Fourth Rule: Consistency
I understand that people have lives. If you can’t post for a while please let me, or one of the other members know. If you’re leaving the role play please tell me or one of the other members know so that we can kill off and or replace your character.

You may reserve one Main Character but as many side characters as you think you can handle. The main characters will be judged the harshest because they will be what will make up the majority of the role play. Please state in the character sheet if you want your main character to already be allied with either Lux or Nox or if they are rogue.

Aryana Bradley

“These ruins were found nearly twenty years ago after a major earthquake created a small crevice in the side of a mountain. The crevice opened up into a set of caverns filled with relics of this ancient civilization,” the tour guide said as the high school class, filled with bored teenagers, entered the small exhibit.

Broken statues, pottery, and tablets were set around the room. In front of each relic there was a placard describing what the archeologists thought each item in the exhibit meant. “It is hard to tell what the texts say since the language used has never been seen before. Archeologists are still learning about the culture and the people living at that time. Most pieces seem ancient, except for one odd piece here.”

The tour guide led the class over to a corner of the exhibit. A large, six foot mirror stood erect, illuminated by an over head light. The frame of the mirror was gold, and not just plated, with lots of tiny details carved into the gold.

One of the teenagers in the class room felt the hairs on her neck raise as she stared at the mirror. A shiver went down her spine and she had to turn away. As soon as she had stepped through the archway into the exhibit room, Aryana had gotten the feeling that the things surrounding her were somehow familiar to her.

“Do you feel that?” Aryana mouthed silently to her twin.

Evans Bradley

Evans, from the first day hearing about the tour, was definitely not delighted. Who would? Everywhere just olds craps hanging who no one would be interested in. Everything was very old and boring. Why bother seeing such things? He scratched his head and sighed. It was clear that he didn't even hear one single word from the tour guide up front – but he wasn’t the only one: His classmates weren’t interested on those things either, as someone could guess from their expression. It was not a real good thing from the start to go to such an exhibition. Why didn’t they go to a jewellery shop or game center? Evans could bet that everyone would be interested. But no, they had to go here. It was all that the fault of that teacher.

He looked around. Nothing glitters or shiny - only brown ugly pieces that was presented as if they were something very important. Indeed – Evans was thinking to do a prank very badly, but it couldn’t be done seeing the teacher had his eyes on him. Well, that wasn’t something to wonder about though. “Do you see any chance of sneaking away?” He asked his friend in front of him and yawned. “No way, man. It’s over in a bit anyway, bear with it.” The friend just answered that made Evans sighing. It was obvious that he couldn’t bear with it any longer, as then he heard a soft voice from behind. It was his twin sister.

“Did you say something?”, he asked her sister, who looks quite a bit… bothered. As then he felt it. He felt something that was familiar… but in the other hand making him uneasy. It was coming around from his surroundings – it was as if he came back to an ugly home. Was it a forewarning? Or simply a figment – a fantasy. Still, it interested Evans. So for the first time after entering the exhibition, he looked closely to the things surround him. And sure, the first thing that catches his attention was the mirror with the golden frame. “Oh… awesome.” He muttered, as he slowly came closer to the mirror…

Aryana Bradley

“Alright students, walk this way! On to the next exhibit!” The tour guide said as she turned the students away from the mirror. The rest of the class shuffled by, ignoring the fact that Evans was staring at the mirror as if he was possessed. Aryana was about to turn away from the exhibit as well before she noticed her brother.

“Evans,” Aryana said as she approached her brother. She reached a gentle hand out to touch him and then pulled away. No, better not disturb him. She felt the same draw toward the mirror…but something else was keeping her consciousness at bay. A feeling tugged at the back of her mind and a strong sense of urgency overcame her. The rest of the class had already left and the exhibit was empty save for the twins.

Aryana heard something creak behind him and she slowly turned around. An ugly statue of a demon had moved from its place on the pedestal and was beginning to come towards them. She creature stretched its stone body upward, extending its arms and…its bat-like wings. Its skin began to turn to flesh, or scales…Aryana couldn’t tell for fear had consumed her.

“Evans run!” Aryana screamed as the demon lunged for them. Aryana quickly dived out of the way; narrowly missing the demon’s outstretched arms. Aryana forced her eyes open and was devastated to see that Evans hadn’t yet jumped out of the way.

Evans Bradley

There was something alluring from the mirror. May it be those golden frames or the feeling he got from it. Something he never felt before. It attracted him so much – he didn’t notice anything else, even his classmates leaving that corner. Indeed there were some who called for him, but he didn’t take a notice of it at all. As if he was possessed – yes, it was the best way to express the situation of him staring at the mirror.

Never had he seen such a beautiful mirror. But not only because he likes glittery and shiny things is he attracted to it. There was something else; though he couldn’t figure out what exactly it was. Somehow, he felt a strange feeling of relief, as if he had been gone from somewhere and now finally found the way back. A feeling, that he couldn’t let go, a feeling that he had to explore even more.

As his sister approached him, he didn’t hear a thing. Though, he was in progress of getting back to his senses. It was the silence, that made him came back and the sudden scream that made him completely gasp. He whirled around – as he saw it. A creature which ugly form is indescribable. And then those sharp claws, the big and ugly mouth, the small body and those big black wings… Evans couldn’t move by the sight of it, his consciousness was pending, his eyes open of surprise, shock… and more importantly fear. But it was something else that he really wondered about. The fear he had was mixed with the familiar feeling he had before. It was sickening – but the truth.

Still, his legs didn’t do what they had been told to do. They wouldn't move at all. He still saw his sister jumping out of the way of the creature, which was literally attacking them, even met her gaze. But then he just felt a sharp feeling on his shoulders, as then he lost the grounds where his feets were standing and everything else around him. The demon had grabbed Evans along through the Mirror, leaving earth and entering Tellus...

Aryana Bradley

“Evans!” Aryana screamed as she watched her brother disappear through the mirror. With green eyes wide, Aryana stared as the mirror started to crack and begin to break. She stood up suddenly, her auburn hair tumbling around her shoulders. Panic over took her at the thought of never seeing her brother again. Without any hesitation, without even a second thought, Aryana jumped into the mirror after her brother and the demon that took him.

Myles Mint

“So when’s the next shipment due?”

“The boss said ‘bout a week, but who really knows.” Myles Mint was sitting underneath one of the many docks outreaching the waterfront of Caritus when he heard the voices. It wasn’t that they were of significance to him, but that they were the loudest sound he could observe at the moment. He tilted his head back, listening as their footsteps neared, the creaking of sodden old wood became distinct, and bits of debris and dust fell through the cracks of the wood and sprinkled down onto his features.

Myles scrunched his expression, tugging at the dark fabric that cloaked him and firmly placed the hood in place as protection from the fallen dusts. He was no longer interested in the men and instead began a slow crawl towards the receding tide of water, his knees and palms digging into the pebbly beachfront as he did so.

As the water began to approach, it swirled around his wrists and lower legs, catching the fabric of the dark clock and he stared at his reflection. In the darkness of the water his eyes looked a deep brown, when in reality they were a more red color, and his curly hair fell around his face, pressing against his soft cheekbones due to the hood over his head. He watched as the small fish swirled around his fingers, nibbling softly at hi skin. It produced a soft smile on his features. And then, Myles glanced at his wrists, the thick black circles encasing his wrists were completely underwater was the water reached its peak.

He curled his toes as the water began to recede again, taking the small sea life with it, his cloak tried to rush away with the current too, but it was a vain attempt since it was wrapped securely around him. Myles sat back on his feet, staring at his wet hands, the longer he stared the more translucent they became. He kept very still, watching the little currents of water swirl in his hands and his watery body began to slowly spread up his arms. Myles stared at his fingers, the water was steady, and he twitched his finger. He grinned, satisfied the hand still held his form and slowly began bending his fingers. With the movement the water began rushing in order to keep form, but still held. Myles grin stayed put until are large bang disrupted him and his entire arm fell off.

He heard heavy footsteps above him, and felt more debris land on him as people rushed around on the docks. All sounding frantic and confused. Myles would have been the same way, but there was a strange sensation of calm enveloping him. He didn’t know what, but he needed to go somewhere, quickly.

He submerged his stump of an arm into the water, and it came back out a full arm. Making sure the cloak secure Myles darted out from under the dock and towards the direction of the bang. Something important was waiting for him there, something life changing.

Blindly running, Myles didn’t once consider how strange it was to be so confident in following a feeling in his gut. He kept running until he passed an auburn haired woman and skidded to a halt. He felt his knees give out from under him as he stared at the disoriented woman. The young boy was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion, he didn’t know who she was, or what she represented, but he had finally found her.

Aryana Bradley

Aryana couldn’t help but feel that her body was suspended without a hint of gravitational pull. Colors, some shades she had never seen before, flashed before her eyes and she swore, for the briefest of moments, that she gazed upon the entire universe. Then, the sensation was over. A light, bright and dancing, shone before her and she reached out to touch it, all fear dispersing itself from her mind. Aryana stepped toward the light and landed on the other side of the mirror.

Unkempt buildings rose up around her, though none as tall as those in New York. The smell of rotting fish and low tide invaded her nose and she did her best to not gag from the scent. Her mind desperately searched for any reason behind what had happened and where she was. But nothing, not even the slightest hint of a memory, told her where she was. Panicked, she whipped around, her eyes wide and searching. ‘Where am I?’ she thought, her heart pounding in her chest.

“Evans!” she cried out as she ran down the alley way. “Eva-“ she was cut off by someone tossing slop out of their window above her. The filthy water nearly landed on top of her and she gagged at the smell.

“Now there…what’s all this hollering ‘bout?” a deep voice called softly from the back of the alley way. Aryana turned slowly and stared at the three men who were approaching her.

“I can be your Evans…heh heh heh…if you’d like,” another said as he liked his lips.

“What’s a pretty little thing like you doing way out here…” the first said with a grin on his dirty, ugly face. Teeth, hair, and even some fingers were missing from each man. Even combined, they hardly made up a whole man. Each had their faces streaked with dirt. Dried blood covered the second’s shirt and pants. There was even some dried blood beneath his finger nails. The third man, the one who hadn’t spoken yet, was the scariest of the three. He was large, larger than any man Aryana had ever seen before. He gave her an opened mouth smile, revealing the empty cavity of his mouth. All of his teeth were gone and his tongue had been removed. Aryana backed away from the three men as best as she could…but she was up against a dead end.

“Don’t come any closer!” Aryana said as she grabbed a small piece of wood by her foot. The men simply laughed and continued their approach. Aryana swung her wooden plank as hard as she could at the closest man and caught him square in the jaw. He staggered backward and cursed. She attempted to take another swing at the second man, the one already covered in blood, but he caught the wooden plank before it made contact.

“Just shut up,” he told her as him and the third man grabbed both of her arms and forced her on the ground. The first man, the one she had hit, walked over to her as he undid his pants.

“You’re dressed odd for a woman,” he said as he looked at the torn jeans she was wearing. “But that won’t matter…I’ll figure out a way.” All three of the men chuckled as the first man fussed with the buttons on her jeans. She kicked out angrily, nailing the man right in the stomach. He simply grunted and continued. “Alright boys, that’s enough, I think I got it from here,” he said as he grabbed hold of both her arms. The other two men backed away and watched the mouth of the alley.

The first man crouched on top of her and put his face close to her. She could smell the stink on his breath and saw his rotting teeth. Fear had taken hold of her and she tried her hardest to wiggle free from his embrace, but that just made it easier for him to hold her down. A sudden warmth spread through her limbs and she was filled with a sense of calm. Her body relaxed and the man smiled. “Now, that’s a girl.” He released one of her arms and went back to trying to unbutton her pants.

Aryana suddenly reached up and grabbed the man’s face. Before he could pull away, a current of electricity erupted from her finger tips, shooting themselves into the man’s flesh. His skull broke apart as well as the flesh that held it together. Brain, blood, and gore shot out from the stump on his neck, splattering Aryana and the walls around them. She got up quickly, just as the other two men were rushing toward her. The third man grabbed her by the neck and squeezed, but she simply placed her hand on his arm and shot it off as well. The second man dropped to the ground and began to pray, tears running from his eyes. The third man was laying in a heap on the ground, screaming in agony.

Without looking back, Aryana ran from the alley and out into the open street. The calm that had taken over her was now gone, replaced by panic and fear once again. She could smell the blood on her and could see the chunks of brain matted in her hair. Her hand was covered in blood as well as her clothes. ‘What happened…what’s going on?’ she thought as her vision began to fade in and out. She stumbled along the street, clutching her bloody arm as she tried to focus on what was around her…but her eyes would not focus.

A sudden sense of familiarity overwhelmed her, just as it had in the museum. Her eyes began to focus and she saw the figure of a young boy running toward her. Aryana stopped in her tracks and stared at him. The boy seemed to recognize her as well. She had meant to talk, meant to ask where she was and who he was…but all that came out was a scream.

Loreitia Zhialao

The dojo was near empty, as it should be. Today was a free day and most students were elsewhere, with family or friends, using the day to relax instead of train under the strict eye of their mistress. But while they relaxed Loreitia did not. The tall woman waited for her mother to return from shopping, going through slow exercises with an absent mind. It was a mediation for her, these exercises had become second nature to her body and allowed her mind to center or wander free as she pleased.

Presently, her mind was focused on a recent event. The strange happening at Caritus. It had to be from Caritus, Amo was too far away for such a noise to have been heard. Messengers had already been sent to the city, but they had not yet returned. Most had already gotten on with their days, the noise common gossip by now. But it lingered in her mind, like a faint buzzing.

Normally she would have forgotten it by now. It had no impact on her life, she still had a dojo to run. Yet she continue to think of it. What was it, what was it, what was it? A question she couldn't answer, but felt she needed to. Felt with near desperation. The need would have made a lesser person ache and given in, packing to go to Caritus and search for themselves.

Loreitia was no lesser person, however. She kept herself firmly anchored, controlling her body as she had for over two decades. She was the ruler of her vessel, not her feelings.

All the same, she knew as soon as a messenger returned she would be looking for the news they brought. Her breathing steady, nary a bead of sweat on her body, Loreitia flowed from one movement to the next. Her movements grew steadily faster as she fought to rid this silly want from her mind.

With the dojo empty, the mistress made full use of the floor. She spun, kicking silently at unseen enemies. Her long legs pressed a leap into the floor. As the sliding door to the dojo opened, she leveled a punch at the dummy, toppling it.

"Your hai-xao is supposed to be a slow exercise, isn't it?" Her mother asked, mildly amused. Loreitia breathed deeply and nodded, picking up the dummy. Danosia chuckled and stepped forward, plucking up a hand towel for her daughter to use. "Troubles?" She asked knowingly.

"No. Just... Tense." The younger woman answered, using the towel to wipe away the sweat she had accumulated. She pulled off her upper shirt, exposing the training top she wore underneath. It was a traditionally male top from the Hainun practice, covering the man's chest and neck, but exposing his midriff and arms. She wore it anyway because the female top covered the arms and abdomen, leaving her uncomfortably hot after a session.

Danosia tsked in disapproval, but had stopped saying anything against the top long ago. "All right, my dear. I'll let you know when dinner is ready." She murmured, leaving behind a tall glass of water.

Myles Mint

Myles winced as the woman began to scream, but he was unable to move. He glanced around, the area seemed vacant, which meant her scream wouldn’t attract any attention, but it still made him nervous. He wasn’t supposed to be outside his house, and this woman was special, he got the feeling he didn’t want other people getting involved.

“Shhh, Miss, please don’t scream.” He said, Myles was able to push himself to his feet after the initial shock of seeing her. She was still screaming and he raised his hands in peace as he took a step forward. He got a closer look at her, and he could now see she was covered in blood, a lot of it. He bit his bottom lip, was it her blood, was she hurt, or was someone else hurt?

His eyes widened, she was covered in blood. Was this girl he had felt such a strong pull to dangerous? Would she harm him, or at least attempt too? The way she had started screaming lead him to believe that she didn’t have those intentions, but it wasn’t a normal occurrence to be walking around covered in blood. He felt even more uncomfortable, and tugged at the black cloak’s sleeves, as if hiding his hands would somehow keep him safer. At least though, knowing he had a small dagger on his hip was a comfort.

He made sure to keep the hood of his cloak up, because despite the bizarre feelings of trust and nostalgia he felt towards the woman she was still covered in blood and he still valued his life. But even so, despite trying to be alert and on guard, the feeling in his gut was fighting the instinct. And she looked odd, beneath the blood were a style of clothing he had never seen before. It was exotic, and he wondered briefly how far the woman had travelled for her culture’s style to be so drastically different from the people of Caritus. Myles considered himself well versed in culture, despite never leaving Caritus before, because of the time he spent at the harbor. People from all over Tellus came with the ships that docked in the Harbor District, but never had they looked anything like this woman.

Things about the situation were not adding up. First that loud bang, it had sounded like an explosion, and then right after the tiny urges he felt to get out and do something manifested into an overwhelming pull towards an unknown destination, which he had followed none-the-less. Now, he was standing in front of a scared, blood covered, woman who was dressed strangely, and

“Are you ok, maybe we should head down to the water, maybe you’ll feel better once you’re clean?” Although his main intention was to get the woman calm and cleaned, he mostly wanted to go down to the water because he was more at ease there.

Quentin Spiros

The wind carried the scent of Lapideus Lake on its back. Gulls flew lazily overhead as they caught current after current. Every once in a while a black loon would dive head first into the sea and come up not moments later with a fish hanging from its beak. The sun shone brightly overhead, not a cloud was to be seen in the sky. A small breeze drifted through the air and every once in a while a small wave would bump lightly against the side of the small boat.

Quentin had a fishing rod and a lure cast out into the lake smooth, blue water. Today was his one day off for the week and he was spending it catching fish for his family. He hadn’t talked to them directly since he had left home ten years ago, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t help support his brothers and sisters. Every week he left a bucket of fish or small game outside of their small hovel and waited until he was sure they picked it up. Sometimes he would see his younger siblings playing out in the filth drenched street and wave but he never approached them.

Quen sat lazily in the small boat with his large, straw hat drawn over his face. He felt a slight tug on the line and quickly began to reel the fish in. It was a small fish, barely big enough to support one person, but it would do. He quickly killed the fish and set it in the bag beside him. Already he had caught four more fish, this one now being his fifth fish. Quen cast his line out once more and lay back in the boat, pulling his straw hat down once more.

Suddenly, without any warning, a huge blast sounded out across the lake. Quen, who had started to drift off, woke suddenly, flailing about as though he was being attack. The small boat tipped over and spilled the young man and the fish into the lake. Quen spluttered when his head broke the lake’s surface. The bag of fish floated next to him as well as the boat with one oar still attached. The other oar had already sunk along with his fishing pole. It wouldn’t be wise for him to dive after either item. He quickly grabbed the bag of fish before it began to sink and flipped the boat over.

He must have looked very awkward trying to get back into his boat. His clothes were completely soaked through, weighing him down quite a bit, but he somehow managed to wiggle his way out of the water. Cursing, Quen quickly checked the bag of fish to make sure all five were still there…there were only three. Quen turned to look in the direction the loud bang had come from. No smoke or anything came from the large city of Caritus, then again, he couldn’t see that much. Caritus was merely a speck on the horizon. The only reason he knew it was there was because of the maps he sometimes read.

Quen let out a heavy sigh as he picked up his one oar and began rowing to shore. It had taken him an hour to get to his location from Lapideus city with tow oars. It would take at least an extra half hour for him to get back with only one. Quen fixed the straw cap on his head and began to slow process of rowing.

It took him two hours to get back to shore. The wind was against him the whole way back, causing him to strain even harder to row the boat. He had planned on staying out on the lake at least until the winds shifted but without a pole there was no reason to. Quen pulled the small craft onto shore and tied it up along the dock. He paid the dock master for the missing oar and apologized profusely. The old man merely grunted and shooed him off.

Quen continued about his day as usual. He picked up some supplies at the market and even bought a few extra fish just in case his three would not be enough. Every once in a while he would hear people talking about the blast that had come from Caritus and that scouts had gone out to check. Quen wanted to listen and to ask about what had happened, but he had more pressing matters to attend to.

The streets of the pleasure district were crowded today. Quen kept his money and his goods close to his body just in case some street urchin tried to pick pocket him. It had happened multiple times, but he always caught the child. Quen felt sorry for the children living in the pleasant district who were forced to pick pocket. He and his siblings used to do it as well. Quen wouldn’t have been surprised if his younger brothers or sisters had tried to pick pocket him before. Quen made sure nobody was around as he dropped off the fish and the extra supplies from his shopping trip. He then knocked on the door and ran to the neighboring alley way.

He waited out there for an hour, but still no one came to claim the fish. Puzzled, Quen left the slums of the pleasure district and headed back toward the wealthier side of the city. He was growing more curious by the minute about what the bang was. He had heard that the demons had begun to invade the human side of the world. Perhaps they had attacked Caritus? ‘No,’ he thought as he neared the dojo, ‘we would have heard about that by now’.

He bowed deeply to Danosia as she exited the dojo and gave her a cheeky smile. He stepped into the dojo and made sure to remove his still wet shoes. Then again, most of his clothes were still wet. He bowed deeply to Loreitia from the entrance before stepping toward her. “Mistress, have you heard about Caritus?” he asked, hoping she knew something.

Loreitia Zhialao

Danosia tutted at Quen's wet clothes, giving him a look that clearly said he was to change into decent wear as soon as possible. Having the young man around was like having a second son; she had looked after him since he was a boisterous young boy, begging to be a student at the dojo. "I hope fishing went well, dear." She murmured as she walked away to the main house to begin dinner.

Loreitia turned as the door opened again, this time admitting a student. He was the only one she would have expected today, namely because he all but lived with her family. The "guest" room had become his when he would stay the night.

As Quen bowed, Loreitia gave a shorter bow in return, her acceptance of his respect as a student to a teacher. "I have not, but I suspected the strange happening came from that city." The tall woman said. She appeared to be thinking as she fell silent, drinking from the glass her mother left behind.

"I heard messengers were sent to discover the truth of the occurrence. We will have more news when they return." Her sharp eyes turned to her student, looking over his wet clothes with a raised brow. "What do you know? You have been in more places than I today."

She chugged the rest of the water quickly and grabbed her over top. "Come, tell me while you get dry clothes. I will not have lake water encouraging mold on the dojo floors."

Salacia Sparrow

Salacia hummed to herself as her cart rumbled over the cobblestone streets of Amo City. Her merchandise sat in piles in the back of the cart, pelts, fish, cured meats and assorted shells and driftwood tools were on show, the occasional passerby glancing at them, as if calculating whether or not the merchandise was worth stopping the Clydesdale and its owner. Salacia smiled at the citizens of the city, waving occasionally at small children as she passed, their eyes wide as they looked at the large scythe strapped to her back.

Making her way over the bridge, looking out across the ocean, returning her attention to Marina as the horse snorted, shaking her head. Salacia chuckled, watching as a couple of boys ran past carrying fishing rods, laughing amongst each other as they picked out a spot on the bridge to fish from.

Reaching the other side she looked to either side of the main street in the High District, searching a place to stop and sell her wares. She finally stopped, jumping down from the cart and patting the mare's snout. Marina whinnied softly, nuzzling into her hand before pawing the ground. Salacia chuckled, walking around the side of the cart to drape a series of pelts over the wooden side, stopping momentarily to run her fingers through the soft fur of a red fox.

She waited patiently for anyone to take notice of her cart, feeding oats to Marina whose ears flicked forth, tail swishing back and forth.

"Ummm... excuse me?"

Salacia turned, a smile instantly working onto her features as she took in the woman and the man beside her that appeared to be her husband. They looked well off, expensive jewels hangings from around the woman's neck, "Yes? Hello, how can I help you?"
The woman smiled and reached out to touch one of the pelts on display, eying off a pair of antlers that Salacia had carved patterns into before speaking, "Has this pelt been treated?"
Salacia nodded, "Yes, and if you look here," she held up the animal's stuffed head and pointed at the black beady eyes, "The eyes have been replaced with glass beads."

The woman smiled, turning to her husband and conversing with him in hushed tones before the man nodded, reaching to pull out a coin purse. He started to count out coins, his gruff voice coming from an otherwise emotionless face, "How much for the pelt and those antlers over there?"

Salacia grinned and quickly told him the price, picking up the antlers and the fox pelt, asking if they wanted it wrapped up. When the woman nodded Salacia pulled out butcher paper and wrapped up things, tying it off with twine and handing it to the woman as her husband handed over the coins, tipping his head before the two walked off.

She looked up in shock as a faint exploding sound ricocheted through the air, people in the streets looking towards where Caritus would be, shock covering their faces. Salacia rushed forth to calm down Marina who reared up, a startled whinny leaving the horse as its hooves collided with the ground, snorting, eyes rolling as Salacia held up her arms, hushing until the mare stilled, ears flattened against her skull.

Alaric and Raine Kingsley

The King and Queen of Caritus smiled to each other as they conversed easily with the nobles that had asked for their council. They sat around the table, servants walking about asking the people around the table if they wished for refills of wine or food.

Raine chuckled lightly at the noble woman as she spoke, "I must say the city is flourishing under your rule your Highness." Alaric lifted the china cup to his lips and took a sip of the tea, "You flatter us Mrs. Ilton."

The sound of an explosion racked the city, causing the servants to scream and cower, china hitting the ground, smashing into a million pieces, their assorted drinks spreading over the ground. Alaric jumped to his feet, rushing over towards the large windows, shock alight in his eyes. Unlike what he was expecting, no smoke rose from the streets, there was no black mass on the horizon foretelling an armies arrival.

He frowned, turning to see the same look of confusion on his wife's face as she peered out from the window, her hands clutching the skirt of her dress, "What in the name of Lux do you think that was?"

Alaric shrugged, "I have no idea.." He turned to see the guards run in, flustered, as if searching for some hidden assailant, Alaric snapped his fingers, catching the men's attention, "Go out and find the source of that noise. Report back here the moment you find something."

The Guards nodded, saluting for a moment before running as Alaric's voice rang out, "Go! What are you waiting for?!" He allowed his face to relax as he turned back to the window, smiling softly at his wife's comment, "No need to loose your temper dear, the man was just being polite."

Salacia Sparrow

Salacia packed up her cart, quickly jumping into the drivers bench and picking up the reigns. Marina still stood shaking, ears flattened and eyes searching for anything else that may cause noise. She sighed and spurred the horse forth. There was something about that noise, she couldn't place it, yet she had to know what had caused it. The city was already abuzz with gossip, messengers had been sent to the city of Caritus to find out what had happened, yet there wouldn't be an answer for a few days yet.

Marina trotted through the streets, shaking her her occasionally before speeding up as the cart neared the outskirts of the city. Once they had passed it Salacia spurred her horse into a gallop, looking back momentarily to make sure that her merchandise hadn't fallen out due to the movement. Satisfied nothing had been jostled she focused on driving the cart.

She didn't know why she was so fascinated by the sound, it didn't affect her. She needed to know what had caused it, for what reason? She didn't know. Maybe it was just to satisfy her own curiosity. Or for some other reason that she couldn't even fathom.

Either way, she was riding towards the city without a single reason behind this flight than the mysterious sound that had sliced through existence.

Carac had trusted the visions in the flame. It had taken him weeks to sort out that the location he searched for was Caritus, and it was a miracle that he had recognized the docks there from the garbled images. Even with that delay and the time it took to actually travel, Carac had arrived early. That or he was just some sort of loony thinking the flames of his campfires could tell him anything. Carac left the inn for the third morning in a row, feeling disheartened after so many days trapped under a roof. This was his first time trusting in anything other than the documents he loved to read so much. He was afraid this trust would cost him.

Shielding brown eyes from the bright sun, Carac took a look around Caritus. He had never felt particularly attached to any of the cities of Tellus, but this one wasn't so bad. At least there weren't any demons flying over head like in his hometown. Carac gave a cursory glance of the sky just in case, and noticed something out of place. Carac had never seen a star fall from the sky, but he had read about such a thing happening. Well, never an actual star, but comets and things. He was sure that the smoking trail blaring through the sky on a one-way course to the ground was a comet. But then a wrenching feeling in his gut told him he was wrong. It wasn't just a comet. This was something important.

With a start, Carac lowered his hand and took off towards the dock. He hadn't been able to stay in an inn closer to the docks due to the issue of money. Now he regretted not just sleeping out in the open nearby. Carac was forced to push through crowds, a fire twisting and jolting across a barren landscape instead of blazing straight and true. It was painfully slow work, and the comet dropped out of sight before Carac was even halfway to the docks. No! Carac thought. He had to be there when it landed.

Once Carac got to the docs, he ran along the shoreline instead of walking on the path with the other people. He hated that he was getting his feet wet, and he felt practically strangled by the spray (he remembered that this was why he hadn't slept close to the docks. Being so close made him feel damp all over). His blond hair curled at the nape of his neck, reacting to the moisture. Carac trudged through the shallow water, eyes forward as he ignored the open water looming out to one side.

The smoldering pit left by the comet was easily identifiable from the water. Carac's heart thudded in his chest. His first instinct was to go into the crater and find what had fallen. He didn't get a chance. A scream drew his attention to a girl and a hooded figure, and a familiar wash of heat like that of a leaping flame crashed over Carac. Without hesitating, Carac approached the pair with soggy pant legs and waterlogged boots. The hooded one was a danger, Carac could tell without even seeing the face that was hidden. Carac shoved the figure as hard as he could. He should have finished what he started and actually attack the threat, but his attention was forcefully pulled towards the girl covered in blood.

"Goddess." Carac whispered, his eyes going wide. This was the girl in his visions. This was Lux, the Goddess. She was light. She was perfect. Carac forgot the person he had just physically assaulted, forgot that he could be wrong, and this could be anyone, a girl he didn't know. Carac's tanned hands found the shoulders of the girl, and he shook her a little, his brown eyes stern as he looked down at her. "Where are you hurt?" She was covered in blood, and the overwhelming concern he felt could not be put on hold for introductions.

Aryana Bradley

Aryana looked at the young boy before her. His words were soothing and gentle…she almost trusted him, almost. She stopped screaming and backed up a step. For the first time since Aryana had arrived, she looked around and took in her surroundings. The boy before her looked like something out of one of her World History books. Actually, now that she thought about it, so did the men who attacked her. She turned her head slowly to gaze at the buildings around her. Nothing modern could be seen anywhere. No cars, no bikes, not even garbage cans or dumpsters.

She completely ignored what the boy said to her the second time, about going down to the water. Her heart started to pound as she realized she was nowhere near home. “Where am I?” she asked, her voice shaky and high. “Who are you? Where am I? Where’s Evans?” she backed up once again as her eyes darted around. She felt like she was going insane, like her entire mind was in a fog and nothing was making sense.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, another man came running at them. He had the same familiar feeling that the first boy did, she same sense of security. Before Aryana could warn the other boy, the man shoved him out of the way, put his hands on her shoulders, and began to shake her lightly. “Get off me!” she screamed as she tried to break away from his grip.

“Who are you people?! Where am I?!” she said once again, screaming. Nothing was making sense. Nothing at all. She felt as if her head was going to explode. She clutched her temples and tried to breathe through her nose but it felt as though her chest was being constricted.

‘Calm down…’ A voice said in her head. Suddenly, her mind began to clear and the fear ebbed away. She was filled with a sense of peace. Slowly, Aryana stood up straight and looked at the man in front of her. “I-I’m not hurt,” she said softly. “Three men attacked me, but I…” fear began to take hold of her again as she thought about the man she had just killed and the other man whose arm she had shot off. ‘Focus,’ the voice said again and the fear went away. “I killed one of them and shot off the other one’s arm,” she finished.

“This boy, I don’t know his name. But he found me, he didn’t hurt me,” she said, turning her attention to Myles. “Thank you, and…I’m really sorry for screaming in your face.” She gave Myles a small, apologetic smile. “My name is Aryana Bradley and please, if you can...I have no idea where I am. Is this anywhere near New York?”

Myles Mint

Myles stumbled backwards and hit the ground hard. He felt pain erupt up his forearm and grunted with the impact. He was slightly disoriented, wondering what had hit him to cause him to fall over like that. It was a man, and it irritated Myles that this man had literary kicked him to the curb to get to the special lady. And, he was going to do something about it, protect the woman from this man, but he said something that made Myles freeze. He felt a chill run up his spine, and his eyes widened with the feeling that he understood when he was still lost.

“Goddess?” He echoed, it sounded familiar to him, saying it for himself. He scrunched his features, the information he was trying to grasp was there, at the edge of his mind, but it was still out of reach. He didn’t have time to think harder on the matter, however, when The Goddess started to panic again. Instinctively Myles reached for the dagger he had concealed, and tensed himself to attack the other man, but The Goddess calmed herself. He did push himself off the ground, and even though she was calm it had been this man that had startled her just as she was beginning to talk to him.

He used his smaller size and got under the man’s arm to shove him away. Standing in front of Aryana he gently placed his hands on her forearms, the cloth of the cloak pooling at his elbows and revealing the black circles encasing his wrists, and he smiled softly. When she spoke he felt waves of emotion rock through him that he had never even possessed towards his family, an urge to serve and protect. And even though he knew if this had been any other person, covered in blood and telling him how they had killed three men, he would have been terrified. He wouldn’t be trying to comfort them, nor feel any empathy towards their reasoning or feelings. In his household he was taught to obey the rules, and killing people was definitely against the rules.

“Yes sir, you shouldn’t have been so brash and attacked me. All that had accomplished in scaring her more.” He stated bluntly, casting an ill glance towards the other man. It was interesting that towards the blonde man he felt nothing, as the same with the rest of the people who did not directly associate with him, but very cell of his body told him that his loyalty and devotion belonged to this woman. He took his hands off her forearm and took down the hood of his cloak, revealing his red tinted features.

“My name is Myles Mint, and although I have never heard of the land of New York you may rest assured I will do everything in my power to give you a safe trip back.” He took a step back and bowed to her, his left fist covering his heart. Myles spared a irritated glance towards the blond man. He was extremely displeased with the fact this man had pushed him so rashly and suddenly.

As he straightened himself, Myles spared the blonde man only a short look before turning a much warmer expression back to Aryana. “I am very pleased to meet you Aryana.”

Evans Bradley

Evans couldn't believe what happened - what? For a second there, he was still talking with his friends, mocking on those boring craps in that excursion. But... what now? He felt nothing under his feets.. just a strange breeze that made him having no hold. He saw his sister - screaming but she didn't heard him - obviously and then just disappeared like that. All surround him was just blue, blue, blue. He didn't want to believe it, but he was in the air, flying. He was flying! Congrats Evans, you have such a realistic dream. Woo hoo! Flying! What the hell, was he a small kid? Those dreams were so old - this was just hilarious. He just wanted to wake up forgetting all this crap - this was not funny and not really as he thought it would be. That prickeling 'freedom' feeling. The air was thin, the headwind strong and he back was really cold.

Then finally he understood why he was cold back there and why he felt the tighten feeling around his neck, armpit and shoulders as he with much effort managed to look up. That 'bird' with black wings and ugly small body - but not only that, his smell was not something someone can stand... it was unbelievable strong. Well, not bad. He had quite the awesome imagination of a flying creature, though it looks pathetic from below. The creature was holding him on his shirt - very uncomfortable as stated. He just wanted to wake up... as then he spotted something else. Something was falling from above and that something was strangely realistically warm. "What a goddamn too realistic... in the other hand unrealistic dream.", he mumbled and began to move. He wanted him to let go - this was not something he wanted to dream about. Hell, why can't he just dream about him winning a sport championship or something? The pleasure was more than this 'experience'.

The creature suddenly made a not understandable croak - something that sounds incredible familiar. It was frightening that feeling. He even moved more but the creature didn't let him go, as then Evans looked above again shouting annoyed. "Let me go you stupid flying creature! Goddamn, this dream is tiring me out!" As a certain drop falling on his cheeks. Now he could see from where that drop came from: From a deep wound on the creature's stomache. So the drop was... blood?! Evans was shocked. Even though it was a dream... yes - Evans hoped it was a dream - everything felt so realistic. He felt a concern deep in his heart, something he shouldn't really, right?

Suddenly he felt that the creature weakened - they lost heights. Bit by bit, they were falling below - whatever is there below. It made Evans doubting... was he really dreaming? That throb, the feeling of losing heights was definitely there. He was frightened quite a bit as he looked under. It was still so far. If he fall... no hell! This is a dream, he would not be hurt at all. But as suddenly they lost many of their height in the air at once, his heart was beating like crazy. He didn't want this to be like this... what the hell, he is still 17 years young! He at least wanted to have one wife and two kids. Somehow.

"Bird Bird Bird - Or whatever you are. Land carefully will you?" He said with quite a stressed voice - as then they fall for real, from at least 50 feet heights. The grab of the creature loosen, and he was falling freely. The feeling of falling was frightening. Wake up wake up wake up. But he won't. This was reality, how you want it to be like. This was the goddamn reality. And he - Evans Bradley - is going to die. "WAKE UP YOU CREATURE!" He shouted, half desperate half angry. And it seems he woke up the last life in the demon's body as he flew under Evans in the last minute of him meeting the ground and made Evans landing not as hard as it meant to be... but he himself was dead in the second he hit the ground. Dead. Just like that. And Evans was left in Eurus City, covered in blood and the 'highlight' for today, ended up being stared by every demon in the city.

Who?

Is that kid... him? Wondering whisper.

No way man, just another random kid.
Someone who didn't cared.

Ah another dead demon. How nostalgic.
That whisper was followed by a quiet laugh.

But everyone surrounded him anyway. And Evans could just wonder - and as how his nature is, he just stated straight forwardly: "Costume Party? Helloween? Weirdos?" It was such a weird sight. A weird feeling he had though seeing them too. It was again, that similiar feeling. But he still didn't forgotten what the creature beneath him did. Though he suppose to be to being able to do anything, he still slipped under him and saved his life. What was he? Not like he knew that creature. Slowly he tried to stand up - but he slumped back on the ground. His legs were strangely numb. Was it because of the hard landing? Though he didn't felt any pain. And strangely not any sympathy for the creature who helped him. What is this feeling? So he just sat there surrounded by a bunch of demons who wondered about his presence as much as he did.

Quentin Spiros

Quen nodded and looked down. He was dripping water all over the dojo's hardwood floors. He sheepishly lifted up his pant legs and removed his shoes, sticking them right outside the doorway. He then removed most of his outerwear so that he wasn't so soaking wet. Now, dressed only in his white frock and trousers, Quen headed up toward his room with Loreitia following close behind.

"I didn't see much...I was a bit...distracted when it happened," Quen said, not wanting to admit that he had been asleep. "But there was a huge blast that came from Caritus...but the weird thing was...there was no smoke, nothing." Quen entered his room and closed the door before Loreitia could come in.

"Sorry Mistress, boys only," he said with a laugh. He began to dry himself off and then changed into clean clothes. When he was finished he opened the door and stood in front of Loreitia. He leaned against the doorway and looked up at her with a puzzled look on his face. "The odd thing is...I swear that right before the blast I saw a bright light pass over me while I was...sleeping..." he shuffled his feet slightly. He didn't like his teacher knowing he had been sleeping on his day off. He knew that he was allowed to do what he wanted with his day...but it still seemed odd.

He looked at her suddenly and straightened himself. "Mistress, if you don't mind me asking...do you think this has something to do with your...ability?" he asked. He didn't like admitting that he knew her secret. They had never discussed it openly, but he had been around her for far too long to not know.

Commander Stafford Valerius

Not more than half an hour later, Commander Stafford Valerius strode through the doors to the council hall with a handful of men dressed in armor behind him. He was commander of the city guard, elected by the King and Queen two years ago after him and his men protected the city against a small demon attack. The original commander had been killed and so, Stafford took his place as commander of the City watch.

Stafford and his men strode up to where the King and Queen sat and knelt down on one knee. “Your Grace,” Stafford said as he lifted his head. “My men did not find any signs of an explosion or demon attack. However, we did find a body. We believe that it is the body of the leader of the J.W. Gang, Vergil the Snake. It looked as if his head had been shot off, yet the skin around the wound was cauterized. My investigators are looking into the cause of his death.

“We found one of his henchmen, Ox, a few blocks away on the verge of passing out,” he glanced at the Queen with a look of apology. What he was about to say was too gruesome for a lady to hear. But it had to be said. “His arm had been ripped apart up to the elbow. It was cauterized as well, leading us to believe it was the same weapon used. He kept repeating something about a woman using electricity. I believe this to be the work of a demon. It might even be connected to the blast.”

Commander Valerius stood and gave his King and Queen a bow. “My men are currently searching the city for anyone or anything that may resemble a demon or any who show signs of supernatural power.”

Aryana Bradley

Aryana was only half listening to Myles as he introduced himself. She sensed something was wrong, very wrong. She laid a hand on the young boy’s wrist and made a hushing motion with her other hand. Aryana glanced around the harbor district before her eyes settled on a group of men walking towards them. They had a commanding presence about them and people seemed to clear the way as they approached. One man walked in front of them with his hands bound behind his back. She recognized him…he was the one she had let go.

‘Run girl!’ the voice at the back of her mind shouted. Aryana panicked and looked down at herself. She was still covered in blood from head to toe.

“That’s her! That’s the girl who attacked us!” the man shouted, jerking his head in their direction.

“Run!” Aryana said as she grabbed both Carac and Myles’ wrists. The city watchmen behind them began to run after them as well. A few of the men hung back and drew their bows. Quickly, without even thinking, Aryana ducked behind a building and ran up the alley.

“Where do we go Myles?” Aryana asked as she ran.

Myles Mint

“Where do we go Myles?”

Where did they have to go? Myles hadn’t been able to process much, but from what he had seen those people that were now pursuing them, and they were definitely the royal military. That left little for them to go, that Myles was familiar with. Even worse, many of the people in the military were acquainted with his family, and had known Myles since he was little. He doubted any of the troops from low level patrols would recognize him, but there was always a chance. Myles had no business tainting his family name with a scandal like this, helping a criminal. He wanted to be firm in his decision, ditch Aryana and stay loyal to his family, but he already knew he wouldn’t go through with it. Besides, most of all of Caritus he had familiarized himself with were the Palace District and select locations of the Harbor. He didn’t know anywhere else, and didn’t have a lot of time to tap into his limited knowledge to help them escape.

“I’ll take the lead, just follow me.” He said confidently, despite not having the slightest clue where exactly they were. But he didn’t want Aryana scared, so it would be better to put up this front in order to grant her some comfort. He clasped her hand, and did make sure the other man was following, because he was already seen affiliated with Aryana and himself and would now also be pursued, before picking up speed and taking a sharp turn down a separate alleyway. He kept his expression stoic, as to hide how lost he was, as he led the trio down several more turns in hopes that they would lose the military. He felt himself heave a relieved sigh between rasped breathes as he caught his breath.

He knew where they were now, he felt a soft smile of triumph edge its way on his features as he began dragging Aryana down the street. His lungs were still burning, not used to so much vigorous exercise at once, but it wasn’t so bad, and he regained his breath in less than a minute. He looked around, and spotted a large building that he never saw anyone using, an abandoned warehouse.

“Ayana, please take this.” He said, an idea suddenly striking him. He let go of her hand and slipped his cloak off to hand her. Even though if anyone recognized him it would be trouble, but Aryana stuck out like a sore thumb with her red hair and foreign clothing.

“You are very easy to spot with your current appearance, it is a bit damp, but please wear this.” He only briefly looked back at Carac, making sure the man was still standing there before he headed towards the warehouse. It was a bit of cliché to hide in an abandoned warehouse, and it was nearly guaranteed the patrol would check in any abandoned anythings, but at least for now to get the trio out of sight was important.

Edith Loretta

"Madam Edith," a man said from across the hallway. A young girl with short hair, wings, and a tail stood before him. A knife was held loosely in her hand and as she turned toward the man, he could see that it was covered in blood. A horribly disfigured form sat slumped over in a chair. It was impossible to tell what the poor creature had looked like before Edith had gotten to it.

“Rabbit!” Edith chirped cheerfully. She dropped the knife and turned around, revealing her blood soaked dress. She skipped over to the man and wrapped her arms around him in a tight embrace. Rabbit, the human man, tried his best not to gag as the blood got all over his clothes.

“Madam…there has been an incident in the-“ before he could finish Edith unfurled her batwings and wrapped them around herself. In the next moment she was gone. Rabbit looked at the poor soul Edith had finished torturing and shook his head with a sigh.

~~

Edith arrived at the scene moments after Evans had arrived in Eurus. Demons and humans alike stood around the young man and the dead demon, crowding around the two as if they had never seen death before. Edith elbowed her way to the front of the crowd and took in the scene.

The demon beneath the young human…she recognized him. ‘I haven’t seen him in nearly a hundred years!’ Edith thought as she pushed forward in the crowd. ‘And if he’s here…if he’s dead and he’s here…That must mean…’ Edith looked at the young man with wide eyes. He was the savior, the reincarnation of their creator. The one being in all of Tellus, no, in the entire universe that could save the demon’s.

Nox…

Another demon was about to reach forward and grab Evans when Edith rushed forward and stabbed him through the chest with her barbed wing. Edith then walked over to Evans and stood above him, extending out a hand for him to hold. “You’ve come…at last…you’ve come.”

Alaric and Raine Kingsley

The King had paced in the room for too long, his wife sitting at the table, trying to pacify the nobles before getting tired of their dramatic worries and telling them in the most polite way she could think to leave. Sighing she stood, rearranging her skirts as she walked towards her husband. Her voice was soft as she gently placed a hand on Alaric's shoulder, effectively stopping him in his tracks, "Calm down dear, the guards will do their job and report back the moment they find anything."

She lent up and placed a soft kiss on his cheek, stroking a stray hair from his face. He smiled down at her, pulling her into a brief hug and tucking her head under his chin as he looked out across the city. Somewhere out there was the source of that noise. He pulled back from the embrace and walked up to the window, his teeth ground against each other for a split second before he forced himself to stop and put on a regal demeanor.

He rubbed his face and watched as the occasional glint gave away the position of a guard within the streets as they searched. He stood there hands clasped behind his back as Raine talked to the servants about cleaning up. She smiled at them and occasionally even aided in straightening up a chair, despite everything she had been taught in preparation for life as a royal.

The room had been returned to its original layout, the table had been removed and a row of plump chairs sat in front of two thrones.

It wasn't long before a servant poked their head through the doors, opening them wide enough that he could be seen bowing before he spoke, "Your majesties, Commander Stafford Valerius has returned."

Alaric turned from the window and nodded towards the servant, "Send him in."

The two took their seats in the thrones and watched as the Commander of the city guard strode in with an entourage of guards who knelt beside him before the thrones. Alaric and Raine's eyes widened with horror as they listened to the tale. Raine's hands tightened on her skirts, knuckled going white from the pressure as blood drained from her face.

As they finished speaking the Queen's voice rang out, soft and shocked, "What sort of a creature could do such a thing?"
Alaric reached over to grasp his wife's hand, squeezing it gently before he turned to the Commander as he stood, bowing, "Thank you Commander. Come back if you discover anything else."

Faramond Donar

Faramond, after a late night of studying the recent demon activity, awoke to the sound of the very fabric of Tellus ripping. Or at least, that's what he thought when he jumped from his hotel bed and onto the hardwood floor. He didn't even skip a beat as he pulled on his boots, strapped on his belt and sword, swung his bow and arrow quiver over his shoulder and ran from the door. Quickly he grabbed his money pouch from his belt, sifted through the coins and removed the money he owed the hotel keep. He quickly dropped the money on the counter in front of the man and rushed out of the doors.

Faramond ran around the building toward the stables, trying his best to keep his bags on his shoulders. “Stable boy! Ready my horse!” he shouted as he ran into the stables. The boy startled at the loud, boisterous man running toward him. He quickly dropped what he was doing and grabbed Fair’s saddle and bridle. “Quickly boy, time is of the essence!”. While the boy saddled the horse, Fair bridled his gelding and readied the saddle bags.

The man swung into the saddle as soon as his horse was out of the stall. The stable boy rushed toward the stable doors and through them open just as Fair barreled through. He waved to the young, confused boy, and headed toward Caritus at a full gallop. People jumped out of the way as Fair and his horse galloped through the streets of Amo. The gates were luckily open and Fair was able to ride right on through. Once he was out of the gates and on the road to Caritus, Fair slowed his gelding to a steady trot. It was a four hour ride to Caritus and he did not want his horse to tire before then.

No smoke rose from Caritus city, odd, considering the volume of the boom that had come from it. Not long after Fair had set out on the road did he hear another rider approaching. He turned his head just in time to see a woman driving a cart while her horse galloped out in front. She looked to be just as intrigued by the sound as he was. However, if she continued at a gallop her mare would tire long before they reached the city.

With a sharp jab in his horse’s side, Fair urged the gelding forward into a gallop, standing in his stirrups to allow his horse the maximum amount of speed he could obtain. He quickly caught up with the mare and her driver and gave a dashing smile. “My lady!” Fair shouted as he began to pass her, “If you’re heading toward Caritus, you might want to slow down. It’s a four hour ride…you’ll tire your mare!”

Salacia Sparrow

Salacia's eyes were locked on the distant silhouette of the city. She turned, shocked slightly by the sudden outburst, having been too preoccupied to have heard the sound of the approaching hooves. Pulling on the reigns she slowed Marina down to a trot, guilt gripping her as her horse panted, the sweat rising from the Clydesdale's coat. Salacia's shoulders hunched momentarily before she relaxed and reached out to pat Marina's back before leaning back in the seat.

Suddenly realizing that there had been someone that had brought her horse's condition to her attention. The gelding the man was riding seemed to be having a better time in taking in the distance. She put a smile on her face as she took in the horse's rider.

She nodded towards him, "Thank you for the information."

She cocked her head momentarily before she asked "Are you heading towards Caritus to investigate the sounds as well?" She couldn't call it an explosion, black plumes of smoke didn't rise from the horizon. Whatever it had been, it had made quite the impact in her mind. She kept trying to nut it out in her mind, she didn't know why she was drawn towards it. But if she was honest, there was another pull, no where near as strong, but just as present. It came from the south. She frowned, trying to figure out why she wasn't heading in that direction instead when the answer struck her: Caritus was near water.

Good enough for her.

Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.

Mobs

Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!

Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!
