s t y l e x // xNemesis had always preferred female hosts, they enjoyed the shape of their bodies. Fashion had evolved greatly in the last millennia, now offering a wide plethora of options. Catarina always had a flair to her fashion, opting for bold prints and big hair. Even lounging around the house, theyâd wear a silk shift and robe or a frilled satin set that untied in the front. They always seemed to be wearing a full face of makeup, though that was more for the dramatic flair than any sort of insecurity. They oozed glamour effortlessly, they didn't need the make up or luxurious textiles.

mental readingx // x luckily she doesnât have to listen to the dribble of the internal monologue of humans. She can sift through the reserves of their mind, finding points of imbalances in their psyche. Wrongs that have been made on them, or guilt they may carry all come forth for Catarina to zero in on.
emotion amplificationx // x No matter if youâve had an emotion suppressed for for years, Catarina can make it amplified to the point where it can feel all -consuming. While she has mild influence over any emotions that fall under the domain of war, she is most powerful amplifying emotions within her specific domain.
mental manipulation x // x As many other minor gods that fall under the war domain, Catarina can easily manipulate human minds. By amplifying their emotions, it makes them more prone to her manipulation. She can redirect their feelings of vengeances on targets of her choice, always keeping her hands clean.
semi-immortalityx // Like any other god, Catarina is somewhat immortal. Only a god or god-killing weapon can end her.x

diplomaticx // xMany injustices require a gentle touch to be rectified, Catarina knows that by working within the system she could get more done. She plays nice with the other gods, even when itâs clear there is only contention between them. Many of her relationships blur the lines between nemesis, friend or lover.
beguilingx // x Even with her duplicitous nature, she has her own allure that can tempt even the most pious god. There is a raw energy to her that is infectious. Humans are rarely immune to her charm, sometimes she didnât even need to use her powers to get them to do what she wanted.
passionatex // x Catarina never put energy into something she wasnât passionate about, even before she emerged as Nemesis. Everything she did she put her all into. It had been all consuming early on, Nemesis learned how to focus that passion to their advantage.
patientx // x whatâs that saying? Revenge is a dish best served cold. Even with her fiery emotions eating her from the inside out, she can contain her rage by maintaining her focus on the end goal.

spitefulx // x a venomous thing, many of her decisions are made out of spite. She cannot separate herself from her domain, it inhabits every facet of her identity. No slight can go without consequences. She could hold onto that for how ever long it took to deliver justice. Never forgive, never forget, make them pay.
lushx // x she can over-indulge in such luxuries as spirits or drugs or any other hedonistic desires she might have. She is often seen with a glass of wine, though it was never empty â always topped off before it fell too low.
righteousx // x Adhering to a strict moral code could be isolating and exhausting. There were many that felt like she overstepped her bounds, sometimes stretching the boundaries of her domain into otherâs territory by manipulating the situation. It didnât make for very many friends.

prisonx // x her freedom was of utmost importance. Witnessing what happened when Szen emerged, she knew that she would not be able to balance the scales through carnage like the old days. She had to behave, and that was the only thing keeping her in check.
grand injusticex // xthere is a dread hanging over her head no matter the time of day, the impending doom of the grand injustice. She knows no details, except that she can feel it growing closer and closer. Something on this level was some god-level shit. She wasnât sure when, but soon the shit was going to hit the fan â and she wants to have as many alliances as possible when that does happen.
warx // x Her domain falls under the umbrella of war. Balancing the scales, seeking revenge and to deliver consequences to actions. Still, Nemesis remember the days of war. They had never been stronger, but it came with an immense toll. Even gods were fighting one another, and when gods were at war all bets were off.

When Nemesisâ essence entered Catarinaâs vessel, it fit like a glove. She was filled with fire and had the mental acuity that would never have been valued by the people around her. People talked too much; they often didnât even realize what they are revealing. Catarina took notes, holding secrets like they were precious jewels only to be displayed for the right occasion. She would trade them for favors, or sometimes even just gift them to gain someone elseâs favor. Duplicitous by nature few ever wholly trusted her, fewer ever grew to understand her. Her true intentions are always masked by layers of intricate webs that sheâs spun herself by whispering into the ears of others.
Humans and gods alike equally underestimated her, believing that if they kept their guard up that they were protected from her influence. What they didnât realize was that she was already whispering in the ears of the people around them, and the people around those people, meticulously orchestrating her great design. She preferred not to get her hands dirty, always pulling her strings from the background. It was the only way to avoid the wrath of the major gods. Catarina knew better than to take any of them head on, though she didnât mind toying with them when the opportunity presented itself.
Nemesis didnât have friends, itâs right there in the name. Though, they did tend to become a tad possessive of those theyâd grown sweet on at times it bordered sentimental. Their relationships blurred so many boundaries, it was difficult to ever really know where you stood with Catarina. Thatâs how they liked things.
She had her loyalties, which she took deadly serious. Swearing loyalties with the god of revenge, balance and consequences was no small ask. Betrayal came with a steep cost. If you mean to cross her, best to just kill her â because retribution will come one day no matter how safe you think you might be. She will not just give you a quick death, she will infect your entire life and tear you apart from the inside out.

H I S T O R I U M
Growing up, Catarina had always been a difficult girl. Her mother left before she could even bond with the kid, dumping him into her fathers care without so much as a goodbye. Her father cared, but he wasnât equipped for parenting. He was a common criminal, in and out of prison most of her life. Catarina ended up being passed around between distant family and family friends during her fatherâs stints. Most of the other kids in the Waste had similar familial situations. At least she didnât feel like an outcast for her shitty upbringing. As much as she loved her father, a part of her grew resentful that he didnât just try harder to be there for her.
She ran around with the other kids, stirring up trouble which was never hard to do in the Waste. Her caretakers could do little to subdue her, though theyâd try her best. When her father would return he would by locks to install on the outside of her door to keep her from sneaking out. She would just hang out her window until she saw a friend walk by, hollering for them to bring over a ladder and aid her escape.
Her father was at his wits end. It seemed like no one could control Catarina, she was going to do as she wished â always. He stopped trying to tell her what she could or couldnât do, though that came with itâs own baggage. Drowning himself in spirits, once he gave up the idea of trying as a parent he just let go of all expectations. The end result wasnât pretty.
He would never have lain a hand on Catarina, at the end of the day she was still his little girl â but when he had a few too many the verbal abuse would spill out on itâs own. She looked too much like her mother, sometimes it confused him. Heâd call her names, spit at her, sometimes when sheâd go to leave heâd just grab her and throw her into her room to lock her in. Sheâd try to fight him but he was always too strong.
She ran away at age 16, if you could call it running away. There werenât many places to run away too, so she just moved in with some other kids down a couple floors. Their parents were junkies so they were never around, and even when they were they just laid in their bed and got high. It was an ideal set up. All of their parents had been involved in crime one way or another, they thought if they could put their knowledge together maybe they could start their own business.
Catarina had been the one to suggest stealing the drugs. She knew where the trade off happened, sheâd followed her father there once before. All they had to do was wait there and figure out when it happened so that they could plan an ambush. They were supposed to wear masks, have a get away plan â something. When they saw the trade happening, the people with her leapt at their opportunity.
It was a poor decision that left one of them dead, fleeing the scene the remaining teenagers stole the first car they could and took off. Once the adrenaline died down, Catarina turned her wrath on the others. She had a plan, they ruined it. Now what were they supposed to do? The people had seen their face. They knew who they were.
She said they should take the drugs back, maybe they could be forgiven. They were still teenagers, they might have to deal with some consequences but they wouldnât have to fear for their lives. The othersâ didnât like hearing that one bit. She didnât even see their betrayal coming.
Catarina had been foolish enough to think that they were family, that their shitty upbringing and non-existent support system made them important to one another. All she had ever been was someone for them to use until she outlived her shelf life. They pulled over, it took all three of them to rip her from the car. They didnât have any weapons, they werenât even sure what their objective was. They just kept hitting her until she went limp, leaving her in the middle of the road for dead.
When she heard the car drive away, she waited another moment before opening her eyes. Her vision was hazy, her eyes swollen and eyebrows split so that blood was streaming down her face. She gripped at the asphalt with her fingers, pulling herself little by little to the side of the road. Flipping herself over so that she could face the sky as she died, she could feel herself slipping.
Then, it was like she was filled with a new breath â first filling her lungs then spreading cell to cell until her entire body was reborn. Laying there, recovering from itâs hostsâ wounds, Nemesis had time to think. Most gods were meant to abandon their earthly tethers upon emerging, but this vessel came with the gift of the predisposition for vengeance. They would balance the scales, but they had to be sure to keep their hands clean or else theyâd end up like Szen.
Bloodied and still healing, Nemesis walked all night to make it back into town. Cars drove past and never stopped, probably best not to pick up someone so grisly off the side of the road. She took note of each car that passed her, adding their slight to the list of injustices they needed to right. It was the next day when she returned to the apartment complex. The boys who had beaten were holed up, lying low, drinking like they hadnât just left a girl for dead on the side of the road the day before.
When they saw her, she swore their hearts stopped for a millisecond as if theyâd seen a ghost. In an instant she could smell all of their emotions, the deep seeded need for revenge within each of them. She had them at each otherâs throats before they even knew what hit them. Watching as they beat one another into submission, blood and teeth spattered across the apartment, she wasnât satisfied until she saw the last one fall. The entire apartment complex had heard the ruckus, gathering at the end of the hall to watch.
When Catarina looked up at them, they flinched. Her father pushed his way to the front, his brow furrowed in a combination of bewilderment and concern. Nemesis considered for a moment to force him to suffer the same fate as the boys, but he was already living the consequences of his actions. He failed his daughter and he was going to die a lonely old drunk, death would only be doing him a favor.
She walked right up to the group, each step seemed to suspend in time. Staring at her father as she approached, daring him to speak. He seemed to stumble back, the crowd parting in front of them. She left without another word and never looked back. As a minor god, she knew that she couldnât do as she wished without upsetting the higher ups.
Returning to the Pantheon seemed like the logical move. As a minor god, she needed to be smarter than the major gods. She was wily, easily able to sniff out divisions and prey on them to build alliances. The gods are not dumb, this she knows, but she knew they thought her harmless enough to play into her games just enough so that they thought they were in control. She didnât mind allowing them to believe they had her in the palm of their hand, it was a good spot to be when you needed the advantage.
She spends time in the Pantheon, but has taken residence outside itâs barriers within Vasta city. It was teeming with energies that she could tap into. With so much crime, everyone had a vendetta. Catarina could walk the streets and know who owed who money, who killed whoâs brother, whom had broken whoeverâs heart. Most days all she did was listen, accruing her knowledge and waiting for her opportune moment. The journey was half the fun, anyhow.
