a p p e a r a n c e x // xElongated, razor sharp canines ready to sink into soft flesh. The flash of golden irises in the dark, lit by the moon. An agile creature ready to slough off skin in favor of fur. The life of an Upyr is one of unpredictability. Even more so, is the appearance of one. But Josephine has always been dainty, small and sleight. The God Minerva always preferred unpredictable vessels, young children, usually female that already hosted within them the potential for deceit. Her vessels are always the same in appearance. Thin, mousy, unimposing girls with unremarkable features. Easily moldable to Minerva's whims. Josephine is no different. Though less human than her average vessel tends to be - but Minerva isn't a begging chooser.
Upyr in appearance are unlike any vampire or werewolf out there. The mixture of the species has never produced anything that didn't resemble a nightmare in form. To look upon an Upyr in the beasts most natural form is said to drive the most sane to madness. They are the monsters that haunt children in the night, the demon with a lust for blood. An Upyr will never look like a wolf, its body deformed into a state of near human-ness even after the fur has sprouted. Walking upright as a man does, an Upyr's face is a disgusting twist of features. Almost skeletal as the fur there is thin, mangy, and the eyes are set deep into the face. Shining Gold in the light of the moon. Its snout is half the length of a normal wolf, skin stretched over an over abundance of sharp teeth. Upyr are capable of producing eerily human facial and bodily expressions.

Minerva's time in the emergence is often far shorter due to the rapid deterioration of the vessel.

Her domain is split, an amalgamate, and therefore she does not have full control over those under the same domains as her. They can listen to her, for she is a Major God, but those that do not view her in a favorable light are not naturally predisposed to following under her lead.

As a person she was always independent, distancing herself from the help of others. She favored paving her own way. She didn't need help, She was strong, smart, and had the upper hand of being a creature of nightmares. The addition of the level headed and calm Minerva into her life has caused a more mellow outlook. Actively looking ahead into the future rather than staying rooted to the spot. She plans, carefully, and leaves nothing to guess about. She knows that the best strategies rely heavily on being able to see around every corner.
She is assertive and outgoing, easily one of the more talkative types. But clearly capable of hiding behind her words. Spinning silver-tongued lies long after the need to do so is present. She is rarely, if ever, honest. Deceptive, to the point of hiding underneath many layers.

Petra, her youngest sister rose to the seat of the Matriarch after the untimely death of their mother Zoya at the hands of a vengeful hunter. Petra had gone after the one that had killed their mother, killing and beheading the man. His severed head sat atop a spike outside their home as a trophy, long after the flesh had been stripped by crows. The stark white skeleton beneath all that was left.
At first, Josephine had no intentions of following Petra to Vasta City. Her sister had plans of expanding their territory, which Josephine had no interest in. She had turned her interests further inwards. Selfishly distancing herself from the businesses her family ran in order to put herself out there in the world. In Russia, she was well known for her voice. A singer, though she didn't quite reach any charts at the time. She stuck to playing small shows. Singing where most wouldn't recognize her. Upyr were outcasts in all societies, even more so than vampires tended to be. She hid that part of her, claiming humanity as best she could.
When she first heard the voice in her head she thought maybe this was it, she was going insane. Upyr had a tendency to do that. But she had a far better life than that of her kin and didn't expect anything like that to happen to her. The voice was different for sure. Dark, but gentle, it wrapped around her mind. In the night it sang to her, a lullaby of promises that lulled her into fitful sleep. She dreamed of wars she'd never been apart of, of a flaming sword that simply couldn't exist. In the morning she would wake feverish and sore, the lingering taste of copper on her tongue. Fear of those dreams plagued her through the days.
Eventually, the dreams began to feel more real. It wasn't just Josephine viewing this great destruction from the sidelines, but she was apart of it. She was the one causing it. She could feel the power flowing through her body. Warm at the core. Deeply satisfying in a way she could never explain. Thats when the answers finally came to her. The realization that this wasn't her fraying mind at work but something else altogether.
"I was afraid you'd never let me in."Spoke the God, at long last. "I am Minerva, The God of War, and you dear one..." The Gods words wrapped around her like fine silk, "You and I could achieve great things." Minerva's syrupy sweet presence was overwhelming. Nothing like what Josephine would expect from a proclaimed God of War. She admittedly knew very little of the Gods at the time, though her life was spent surrounded by the supernatural but that did not exactly afford her a broad knowledge of religion.
"What say you dear one?" Asked the God, expectant.
Josephine did not thirst for power, nor knowledge, nor the powers of a God. But something in the Gods tone endeared Josephine to the thought. She did not know what these great things were but she did know that she didn't want to stop feeling this way. She said yes, and allowed the God to take her body as its own.
Minerva emerged into Josephine in a rush of power. A brutal energy begging for a release. The first order of business for Minerva was to establish herself in this world. She wanted as much reach as possible. It was lucky then, that this vessel of hers had already begun to pave the way for that. Minerva established a very promising career out of the music industry for dear Josephine. Playing the part of a normal person up until she had spread her reach far enough. Of course, Minerva's ability to Vocally Manipulate others had lendt its hand to that as well. Eventually, Minerva caught wind of where her sword had wound up. Vasta City. Though the exact location was still unknown.
Since she already had an in with Josephine's family she was easily able to establish herself in Vasta and with the help of a very old friend was able to hide being a God from the nearby Pantheon.
